Came here for the burritos and also received a side of rice and refried beans. I'm picky about my Mexican food and I'd have to say, I'd rather go to Chipotle than this place. The burrito was small, loosely wrapped and bland. Even taco bell has better burritos. Don't believe the hype!

If your looking for grub that is tasty and wallet friendly, this is definitely your place!. Especially on Taco Tuesday when you can get 2 oversized tacos, chip and a drink for under $6 bucks. The best part of the restaurant is their sauce bar!!! The sauces are so good, you seriously want to drink them with a straw, lol! Always great customer service and good food. My favorite sauce is the smack me on the ass and call me Sally! Sweet and savory :) My younger cousin loves their quesadillas, and my mom likes the chimichangas. But I'll tell ya when I'm not trying to watch the waist line, I go for the burrito with ground beef and queso over the top....Epic! But because I'm trying to loose a few pounds, lol. I like that you can get your meals with the "power lite" option which save you some calories. Can you tell that I'll be back :)

I'm really not a huge fan of Tijuana Flats. It's an overpriced Taco Bell for yuppies who don't want to be seen at Taco Bell. Weather, time constraints and laziness made my family get to-go. The quesadilla I ordered was thin, with very little meat. It came with a handful of chips even though the picture on the website shows rice and beans. Bleh. This particular Tijuana Flats gets 2 stars.

I'm told that the stores all operated the same. I'll be the judge of that! I was promptly greeted at the door and given a menu...no need for that because I was going for that delish bangin' chicken salad. This is salad going to be my heart throb for summer 2014. This time I was in the mood for some guacamole so I added the trio. The sauces were good but having recently had some very fresh queso, salsa and guacamole at a place in Tampa I'd have to say it wasn't as great as I had hoped. All in all, I left a full and happy customer. I shall return....frequently.

I've never understood the obsession with Tijuana Flats. Sure, the service is good, and the salsas are interesting. However, that doesn't make up for the lack of flavor in the food. I had a salad with fish. The fish did not taste too fresh, and didn't have much flavor. I hate to rely on sauces to make my food taste good. The price is right and if you come for the Taco Tuesday, I guess it is a cheap meal. However, the times I have gone to various Tijuana Flats, I have not been impressed.

I came here based on Yelp reviews, and boy am I glad I did! The hubs and I are in Florida for business and fun, he's busy today so I got to roam around, where better to than go get some Tex Mex? Mexican food is fast becoming comfort food to me. There were ample parking when I arrived around lunch time. I was a little confused when I first came in because there weren't anyone at the counter and no one spoke with me. I finally saw a sign that says to grab a menu, order at the counter then find a seat to sit down. Phew, that wasn't so hard! I got the guacamole and chips, and chicken flautas. Too bad they didn't have horchata. The girl at the counter was super sweet and nice, she gave me the chips and guac on the house just because I said it was my first time there! I was stoked! After sitting down, my appetizer came quickly, the guacamole tasted refrigerated so I don't think it was made to order but prepared probably hours before. Since it's free I can't complain about free! The chicken flautas were pretty good, it's not like what I had in college but the chicken was flavorful. It had a warm dipping sauce that was good but I don't really know what it is! All in all I had a lovely meal, the atmosphere is lively and laid back, lots of regulars, the price is really affordable, my meal was $9 something including taxes and tip. The wifi is nice and strong (and free!) too. This place also has tons of sauces for sauce enthusiasts! I gave it 3 stars because it's not the sort of Mexican food I'm used to, being from Cali and all, but having said that, the service is 5 stars and beyond.

Please have your manager?, stop addressing me as "boss"! While attempting to pick up my online order this guy with a handlebar mustache called me boss 3x's like he knew me. Cmon flats, let's understand how this is supposed to work.

I love their house salsa. So fresh and flavorful. Also, by far the best fish tacos I have ever had in my life. It's amazing how their fish tastes better than some places beachside. Sad they aren't a part of their Taco Tuesday deal, but that's okay. Everything is good here. Tijuana Flats has an awesome backstory (UCF ties!) and it's really cool to see them expand as a franchise.

My favorite location! The staff is awesome and the food is so delicious!!! My favorite is the tostadas!!! Get a side of queso to drizzle over them! They have great specials...taco Tuesday is by far the best deal!! Thank you Avalon Tijuana Flats for never disappointing!!

Enjoyed the excellent Mexican food. Wish they used regular plates. Everything was disposable.

All I can say is awesome In Every way. The staff is super friendly, the food is always so fresh and delish... They let me pick what I want and make sure to always point out the hot sauce bar... Where I always end up with 4-5 mini cups to try them (again). Then take one or two little mini cups home for my leftovers.

Tijuana Flats was introduced to me while living in Orlando and years after, I'm still coming back. Two reasons: good food and good service. Just that simple. As a vegetarian, I love that they make sure to point out what items are vegetarian and allow almost everything on their menu to be made meat-free. Tex-Mex meals are simple dishes so it's not necessarily the actual entrees that make a good place, but the quality of the ingredients. On every visit, to multiple Tijuana Flats locations, they always deliver quality ingredients which in return means delicious entrees that are consistent. I've tried many of their entrees including the tacos, nachos, flautas, and chimichangas. I enjoy each but I love the flautas the best. These are a great buy because you get queso and guacamole included with the flautas. Couple this with their hot sauce bar, you have a winning combination. Overall, vegetarian or not, I highly recommend a visit. If you want high quality, reasonably priced tex-mex, this place is worth trying. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Overall: 5/5

We were very disappointed. Our chimichanga had hardly any meat in it, salsa wasn't included, even though chips were. It was just very mediocre food, though the service was good. Do yourself a favor and go to Moe's or Chipotle.

Love this place! Great food and super friendly staff. Really have no complaints about this location! Come here at least once a week to eat!

My favorite quick stop for food! I always call in my order so it's ready when I arrive! Service is very friendly and they aim to please. They get very busy for Taco Tuesday, but they have nice outside seating and they occasionally have music too!!

I heard great things about this place, and I was excited to try it. The decor is cool and the service was friendly. We ordered chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh and the chips were light. I ordered a chicken burrito. It was not the best. It was not warm. I'm a sucker for hot temperatures. My dad had a chicken quesadilla. It was fine, but it wasn't the best. I'll be back to try the tacos.

Tijuana Flats has a relatively fun ambiance, but the food is not that good in comparison to other local Mexican restaurants. The prices are reasonable, but not great in relation to the quality of the food.

Taco Tuesdaze is the best. Great staff. Good food. The service is great. Being a regular for Taco Tuesdaze they greet me by my name and ask if I'm getting my 'regular' (hard beef taco, soft wheat blackened chicken, power lite with everything) I look forward to my weekly visits where they ask about me and UCF.

Never understood the great reviews. Yes, service is A+, food is quality ingredients, but its not good Mexican or Tex Mex? Its the kind of Mexican food that us Caucasians make at home. Clearly we are not in the Southwest here!!

I do love a good burrito, and Tijuana Flats is no exception! This location seems relatively new and has a nice open feel to it. It was pretty quiet when we went for lunch. The staff was very friendly, and informed me that I could get free chips and salsa for that day if I signed up for their text messaging program that informs you about specials, which I did! The chips were a really great accompaniment to my combo meal of Quesadilla and Chicken Burrito. I love almost all of the sauces. A must try if you are in the area.

Amazing staff. Delicious food! I wish I got the name of the woman who served me, but she was super sweet and kept checking on me to see if I was doing ok or wanted a refill. She even used my name each time! This is rare and something you should do when you work in a hospitality environment. After almost 20 years in hotels, they teach you this but no one does it. I will most certainly be back! Thanks for a great lunch experience!!

Great food and great service! I wish they can assess the smell of the store as soon as you walk in.

One of my favorites! Great service and great food every time. Never need to ask for a refill as multiple employees always make sure your drink is full. I love the chicken wheat soft tacos. The food always taste so fresh especially the jalapenos! Tijuana Flats just does everything right!

The Good: -Food is delicious! -Price is reasonable. The Bad: -I've had better service at a Gainesville location by U.F. One time, they deleted my order. I waited about 20 minutes from placing my order, when I approached them about it and discovered this. They did comp my food, but only after I got my food did they ask me and my friends for refills and anything else. I'll add another star, once they prove consistent good service.

Yes, it's a chain - and yes, it's Tex-Mex, but for what it is, it's some of the best around. Your meal is always made fresh, though sometimes the chips and taco shells can taste like they've been sitting around for a while and have gotten stale - but this is usually only if you go AFTER normal dinner hours (say, past 8pm). Customize your meals almost any way you want - and then load up at the hot bar. The sauces here change often, but there are standards that they pretty much always have. Most range in the mild to medium, but theres always at least one or two really hot ones. The staff and management at this location are excellent. Waitresses are always checking in with us to make sure everything is right, and a manager comes by at least once a visit. We're regulars here and they recognize us and we usually have a brief chat. Having been to Tijuana Flats locations across Orlando, and one in Tampa, I can say that the Avalon Park location is our favorite - which works out well for us since it's just minutes from our house.

Best fast food mexican. If you want it "healthier", ask for 'Power-Lite'. Top off your tasties with the Red Ghost (Ghost Pepper) Sauce!

4 stars because the food was yummy and the price was just fine. I asked for Queso and was expecting gooey cheese all over my nachos but got what looked like melted cheddar all over. Still yummy though.

I'll agree with Joe C.'s review - Tijuana Flats is great always! It's great to have one on this side of town. I always hit it when I come over to visit friends. The Chips and Salsa are a great thing to take when you are going to friends. Better yet is when I can get them to meet me there.... They have a Facebook page so I always check there to see what the specials are. facebook.com/home.php#!/…

Overall: Tasty food with great service. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by an employee who asked if I have been there. "Yes," I responded but I still grabbed the menu from her hand so I could sort out what to order. I ordered the Dos Enchiladas with refried beans and all the toppings for myself and a regular veggie burrito for my boyfriend. Their burritos come in three different sizes, but my boyfriend's regular sized burrito was pretty big. He must have enjoyed the burrito because it was gone the next time I looked over at his plate. My enchiladas were great as well with the red sauce, but they could have been warmer. Also, the chips were delish and perfectly salted. I will definitely be back because it is close to my hood.

$4.99 Tuesday special for two tacos and a drink and chips is unbeatable. Food is ready quick and takeout is a great option. Amazing hot sauce bar. Smack my ass and call me Sally is a MUST

Lately this Tijuana flats has gone downhill. The food tastes bland and portions seem to have gotten smaller.

  • Kara L.

Way to loud!!!! The walls are crazy painted! But the food itself was quite good and the way you can customize your order was pretty awesome. I really thought that they would have had more of a spice or something because the burrito, quesadilla and the enchalada all tasted the exact same. But overall it was good food and huge portions! A little pricey...

Is it possible to give no stars? This is possibly the worst establishment I've ever been to and I'm baffled as to why people rave about this place. We ordered two chicken burritos with cheese lettuce and onions to go and were more than disappointed. When I opened the box, I found the burrito to be pretty small compared to other restaurants where they hand you pounds of amazingness wrapped in foil. This? No where near one pound of anything. I took one bite and all I could taste was flour tortilla. I had another bite and couldn't taste anything other than some cheese, lettuce, and flour tortilla. I then saw a pinkish red rim on the edges of the burrito and asked myself - what the hell was this? I didn't add any sauce or anything to it - so I opened the burrito and was in for quite a surprise. The chicken apparently is mixed in with some sort of Mexican style sauce - and the combination of the chunks of chicken in the sauce, lettuce, onions and cheese literally looked like vomit. I put down the burrito and was done. The only good thing to come out of this experience were the chips - but again they had some sort of seasoning on them which made them taste almost like Doritos. I will go stand in line at Chipotle for hours before I come back here. Come to think of it, I would take Taco Bell over this place on their worst day.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
