Yussss!!! This place FTW! When you are at a pub/restaurant from 7pm to 1:30am and you have awesome service for over 6 hours straight. Thats 5 stars in my book! They change the menu from time to time. I knew I wanted the Buba Feta salad but it was no longer on the menu. I think the salad i got was pretty much thee same thing with a dif star wars name. A couple hours later I was dying. I cant rememeber what burger I ordered but it was awesome. With a bit of spice. And then to go at the end of the night a chocolate cake That was just as good as everything else... They have a up stairs area with flat screen TVs and Xbox's hooked up.. Not 100% sure if they are all Xbox or what, i think some wii's as well.. I just walked up there to loook around. They had dragon age it looked like on one of them.. This didnt make sense to me.. Who would bother playing a RPG for a few min when you normally play for weeks. It would make more sense to have all the systems on a LAN so you and a bunch of friends can play some COD or HALO together.. Down stairs they have a wall with a bunch of table top games. So you can show up with a bunch of friends and order some beer, food, and grab one of their table top games to try out and make a night of it...In our case. Everyone hadbrought their own stuff. We were all meeting there to play some D&D.. I never would of guessed after I was 15 I'd be playing D&D again. This place, if you havent guessed by now is totally geeked out.. The Dragon Age theme menus.. Which I guess were there for the release of DragonAge. the art work on the walls, the Game of Thrones, Throne, in the bathroom, The GoT glasses you can purchase to take home, the swords, axes, and everything else hangingon the walls.. I guess you can always meet at a friends house for nerd night. But if you need a change of pace. Def stop here.

I came here for the first time tonight with my husband and our trusty game of Bananagrams. We enjoyed ourselves and will be back again to check out some of C&B's games, maybe with a larger group. We got there at 6:00 pm (when they opened) on a Saturday. It was a little confusing because they didn't actually flip the sign on the door over from "closed" to "open"--we just started seeing people open the door and go in even though it said closed, and they didn't come back out ... so we headed in too. We were seated promptly and the place started filling up almost immediately. There was a huge party with lots of cosplayers, a couple other two-tops and some small family groups, and it looked like most people weren't really gaming at the time we were there. The bar area filled up quickly and people were playing video games up there it looked like. We left around 7:15-7:30 or so and at that point there were lots of groups waiting for tables, so I'd recommend getting there early on a weekend, especially if you have a larger group! We ordered "Shelob's Web," the pretzels with cheese dip, for an appetizer. I was expecting pretzel nuggets based on the menu description (which said "toasted pretzel bites") but they were actually literal slices of soft pretzel. Like, take those Superpretzels you can buy at baseball games or in the freezer section of the store and slice them lengthwise and in smaller pieces: that's what these were. Interesting, just not what I expected! The cheese dip was pretty good and had small pieces of tomato in it as garnish, which added to the flavor. It was a little thin, but very tasty. I'd probably get a different appetizer next time (husband got onion rings on the side of his burger and they were *awesome*, really crunchy and the onions didn't fall out at all), not only to try something new but because the pretzels weren't quite what I expected. I got the "Boba Feta salad" for my entree and it was presented very nicely with lots of mandarin oranges, a bit of feta (a bit more would have been nice), and strawberries (including one whole berry sliced up and fanned out as garnish). The dressing was already in a cup on the side without me having to ask (instead of the salad just being slathered, which I hate). I would definitely order the salad again; it had a good amount of fruit, grilled chicken, and it was very fresh. My husband got the "Smaug" burger, which had Sriracha mayo on it; I had a bite and it was good as well. I would definitely consider getting a burger next time--especially since the onion rings were so good! (You can get fries, tater tots, or veggies as your side as well.) We were hoping to do dessert and had seen the turtle shell cheesecake on the online menu and were going to order that. Sadly, they were out and the other ones (a chocolate cake, a berry torte, a key lime pie, and a root beer float) didn't call to us the way the cheesecake did. Oh well! Maybe next time? They have a rotating special dessert spot which should offer something different weekly according to the menu. I just drank tea throughout but my husband tried two drinks, the Nuka Cola (Innis and Gunn mixed with Dr. Pepper--I found it too sweet and not good and he said he probably wouldn't order it again) and the Mass Effect (Guinness and Red Ale, which was good). They have quite a selection of drinks, including mead and cider, and it looks like there's something for everyone. A good selection of games in the cubby was available. We brought our own and played, but next time we'll probably check out one or more of their games. There weren't a lot of word/trivia type games--I tend to play Scrabble, Bananagrams, TriBond, and games like that--and so it might be nice to expand out to those kind of games to further attract different gamer types. It did get pretty loud in there and I felt compelled to not linger forever because of the other patrons waiting for tables to turn and get a seat. I must say we were never pressured by our server to leave. Service was fine--not too attentive, not inattentive. It was kind of Goldilocks-like: just right, nothing overwhelming. All in all, it was a fun night and we'll come back again if for nothing else than to check out Cards Against Humanity (I know, we're the last people in the world who haven't played it) and eat more of those awesome onion rings. I just hope for cheesecake next time!

I cannot believe I had forgotten to review this place. I was here on vacation and found this by chance. Awesome beer selection. Amazing atmosphere, great service. And incredible onion rings.

I have to say I've never had a better night! We were on vacation and The Cloak and Blaster team is phenomenal. They are newly open & still working through the kinks but they were always asking if there was something our HUGE party needed or that they could do. Just like a new apartment it is going to take awhile to get settled but when they do- THIS is going to be the place to game and geek out. The Lannister burger is PHENOMENAL. For the reviewer that commented on the "chunky waitress in a school girl skirt", first thing it is a kilt, do try to be less culturally insulting and wow- body shaming? For a person who patronizes a geek bar, I'd advise you be more inclusive and LESS like high school (remember that, where most of us were teased for being geeks?) This place is awesome. Game Over!

So, I have to start by addressing some of Eva L.'s concerns. First, this is a soft open. A Beta Test, for those who can appreciate such things. They have posted it on their Facebook, in their emails, and literally taped to the front door. They are intrepid adventures braving a new world, not a chain restaurant with flair and corporate backing. The place isn't perfect, but I'll take a bad night at C&Bs over a great night at any other bar I can name. Second, yes, it's greasy. It's pub food. It's supposed to be fried things dipped in cheese. If I want kale and edamame... well, actually, I've never wanted kale and edamame. That's gross. I want meat. And cheese. Preferably fried. While we're addressing the atrocious level of fried awesome, I would also point out this is a place for amazing games and good beer. The food, while delicious, is a distant third in importance. I'd recommend one of the burgers, though, if grease is an issue. They are amazing, and no greasier than a burger should be (see my kale commentary above). Final note: Fish and chips should always be served in a basket. Anyone who says differently is selling something. I will concede the point on volume. It's loud. The rest of the wall hangings and decorations will fix that, but with 20 foot ceilings, and that whole "beta" thing, I'll cut them some slack. I offered my four foot step ladder, but I didn't get any takers. Lastly, and most importantly, I am so sorry your "chunky" waitress was so attentive. I know that had to have been hard for you. I can only hope you will be ignored by a skinny waitress sometime in the very near future. Now, my thoughts: Personally, I've been the past two weeks with friends, and we've loved it. The concept is unique, the staff is friendly, and the geek cred is legit. From Mario Kart to Twilight Imperium, they actually know their stuff. I appreciate that. Mostly, though, I've loved the people. The other patrons know geek, and I have spent hours swapping tales of D&D and MtG with people I've met there. I keep pestering the staff about when they'll open the upstairs, or when they'll just do a full grand opening, and I'm told "When we're ready." Much like when my girlfriend told me that, I was disappointed, but I pretended to respect it. I realize I'm dating myself here (it's really my only choice), but it is awesome to see a place like C&B exist. They are trying something new, and doing so with passion. There is no Bud Light and there is no Candyland. There is Rogue 7 IPA and Settlers of Catan. Do with that what you will.

My First Restaurant Review: Cloak and Blaster So, I had a great time with my friends at the Cloak and Blaster last night. And this is because my friends kick much ass. That being said, I feel that the business is doomed if they do not fix things. The Beta testing thing is cute as a concept, but that assumes that they are wanting to get feedback, and I saw no suggestion box at the door... So we begin our journey. First of all, the cavernous venue. It's too big and echo ridden. The sound is a real problem if you have tables of 6 people struggling to hear what attack is being thrown their way. I would suggest building a wooden loft above the space, or build some faux pillars and string drapery/tapestry to divide up and sound deaden the place. Unfortunately, that would probably be cost prohibitive at this point. Secondly, but most annoying, the staff. The hostess may have just been a random cosplayer who happened to be walking around, without a podium/station to wait at the door. It was a very haphazard affair. Then there was our waiter. I feel calling him a waiter is a bit of a stretch. It was more like socially inept convention volunteer. Dude, we are playing a game here and trying to eat. We need condiments, not skits and 12 year old movie quotes. And stop trying to get involved in the table conversation, we were having a great time with each other before your awkward gloom cloud menaced our party and ogled our female fighter's appendages. Oh and it's kind of important to get it right when a patron asks if a food has something in it because of adverse reactions. Lastly, but most importantly, if the profit margin comes from food and drink served, take a hint from Gordon Ramsey, get rid of all that extra shit on your menu. If you want to serve pub food, do that, but, do them well. The quality needs to be high enough that it can justify the price. A lot of the food seemed to be ordered right off of a pre-packaged food distributor list, and lacked the culinary imagination that went with the descriptions on the menu. And then there is the game play area vs. food eating area of the table space. The wood tables look great, but when the food came out, there was a calamity of food dripping into game play. Maybe elevate the food on spindles just above the table (like iron lazy susans ). It did serve as a good example of what not to do for this kind of establishment. Commodification of geek sheek looks pretty ugly, when you screw up both the business side of it and the geek side of it. If this were a game, I would say that it failed to make it's milestone deliverable.

I've been here a few times since its opening. Everytime I'm here, doesn't matter if I'm alone or taking a friend for the first time or meeting a group of friends, I have fun. The staff is super friendly and personable. The food is amazing, especially the apps (those dragon eggs yo) and their mixed drinks are something that I don't usually find in many places in town. The game selection is amazing. I don't know how many tabletop games they have, but if you love tabletop games, this is the place for you. They also have a swag upstairs console gaming area, which I've stood around in but haven't gotten the chance to game at because its always pretty busy up there. I love the people who work there, met the owners (very chill people) and made a few friends from attending events. I recommend the cloak and blaster to anyone who's looking for a nerdier place to drink and meet fellow nerds.

I couldn't post the full review because it got too long for Yelp, ha! Here is short and sweet of it. I posted the full version on their Facebook. First time at The C&B. I'm rooting for it, I wanted to like it more than I did. Bare with me, this is a biggun! Origin story: This was our group of 7's last minute "What the hell do we do?" plans for 4th of July. I wasn't sure what to expect, so I packed up my bag with my Netrunner cards in it in case my boyfriend and I got an opportunity to play. Our party was 4 members strong, with 3 additional members picked up unexpectedly when they walked in the door after we'd been seated. So, we ended up with 7, and opted on a casual, party-friendly game of Cards Against Humanity. On to pro's & con's! PROS: * Game selection! Their games library is a cubby-style bookcase against a far wall. Looks like there is a large selection in there! They also had some console games at the bar and a guy was hanging out there playing a MMO on his laptop. * Enthusiastic waiter! He was definitely of the nerd variety, friendly, and seemed to care about us having a good time. He may have been a little TOO enthusiastic though (see con's). * Good beer selection! They had a lot of draught options and bottled stuff. They also had a section for "mixed" beer drinks. * Onion rings! Their onion ring appetizer "The Two Towers" was good. I LOVE onion rings and have ingested my fair share of greasy, onions falling out, soggy disappointing onion rings. These weren't greasy or soggy and the onions didn't come falling out with your first bite. CONS: * Staff! They need more training or shadowing opportunities. This is a failure on the part of the owners not looking out for their weaker staff. * Food! Lack of condiments on the table, those who ordered burgers never got asked how they want them cooked and as a result some were UNDERCOOKED which meant a member of our party couldn't finish it. Everything needed salt or was otherwise underwhelming. Also: how do you a play a table top game and eat finger food at the same time without ending up like some kind of greasy stereotype? * Environment! The restaurant is cavernous, the complete opposite of "pub". The high ceilings and bare walls create an echo chamber of End Game proportions. Also, while the quality of the tables is top notch, it seems like anything over 4 chairs should really be a ROUND table to better facilitate game playing. I know that was a big obstacle for our group of 7. TL;DR: This place is obviously a labor of love with the people they employ loving the idea as well. The Cloak & Blaster could be a really cool place with a dedicated following of nerds. I know I won't come back until the beta is over and they have a hard opening. The Devs really need to take a look at the bugs their establishment is suffering from and perhaps employ a more active and involved team of GMs to help assist their newbs through the boring early grind zones. Otherwise I can't see myself ever returning or recommending anyone else visit. If I want a nerd experience with good food and drink, I can go to any other joint in town with my friends and my own games.

Geek or not, this place is awesome. Beer selection is top notch. Even carry the high octane ones. Only food I had was the onion rings and the were fantastic. They had LotR on and several console running. Cards against humanities and a couple table tops games running. But the beer and the service were the best part. I be there every time I'm in Orlando

Please note this review took place during their soft opening. Upon my visit they were open for about two weeks to the public. The concept is more original then most and has the ability to thrive. As of right now I would vote they are about 70% to where they need to be. The experience was alright - taking into the soft open statue but I would review it a two had the place been around a bit longer. At the time of this posting everything seems half finished. Decor - half finished. Alcohol menu - half finished. Training - half finished. Food menu - barely half finished. My needs to make this a 5 star: more productive training, our server didn't know the drinks or the food. Larger food menu, a place that rolls into the tavern fare should have the full offering of tavern food; currently it does not. Alcohol menu could use a much larger array of speciality drinks. Prices need to come down about a dollar for just about everything on the menu. Addition of more advertised events and themes. Reorganize the main area, right now it's just a group of tables without any real focus. Decor - normally isn't a bother but in this case I was disappointed that there really is nothing in the establishment. Considering soft opening status and that we came in during prime time - I was disappointed that we were not asked how our experience was or given the chance to give our feedback, where's the owner/operator? Overall all I could feel is underwhelmed. I hope the place succeeds but underwhelming at this moment.

It's an okay place but I wish it was more of a "World of Beer" atmosphere... this place is very much a restaurant first and a bar second. I feel really uncomfortable sitting and playing an hour long board game when a waiter who is relying on tips and turnover for his income keeps coming by every 5 minutes trying to get me to order more food and booze. Cool concept to have a geeky pub, I just wish there was more emphasis on the pub part and less on the "sit-down restaurant" part. Also, it would be fantastic if these places had more gluten free beer or wine options for Celiacs like myself, but that's pretty much the way it is everywhere.

I need to preface this with the following: I went the first week they were open, so they were still in serious "Beta" testing and working things out. When I walked in, even with everything not yet done as it is today (from their daily/weekly updates on their FB page), it felt like home. It felt like I could have been walking into a tavern straight out of a D&D game. The tables were perfect. I had a Lannister burger, which was really good. Peanut butter on a burger? Who knew!? Tater tots were good and the selection of alcohol is amazing and changes daily/weekly. I had an Angry Orchard off the tap (if that's how you call it) and it made me fall in love with ciders. The gaming library was plentiful, though as a solo adventurer, I wasn't able to play anything with anyone. It was loud when I went, but I know they've worked on the sound issue. They've also opened up the upstairs videogame lounge and have updated their menu. I am looking forward to going again and if I go anywhere, it's here.

This place has the potential to be a great place to hang out. They definitely have some kinks to work thru... Pros: Good food, good beer and the potential to grow into a great hangout. The owner greeted us at our table during the evening. Cons: The service was terrible. The servers need to be friendly upon entering, familiar with the menu, as well as old enough to drink what they are selling, since this is technically a bar. I seriously doubt our server was 21, as she could not recommend beers based on our questions. I know they recommend bringing your own games, but I would suggest a better board game selection, based on most popular, classics, etc. Games that people are familiar with. Not everyone that goes there is going to be a geek. I would love to see themed nights where people can dress up, have contests, etc. A trivia night would be the bomb!! We didn't get to see the upstairs, so I can't comment there. They need to work on the decor however.. more stuff on the walls, its just too plain in there yet. I'm sure the owners have put their heart and soul into this place, but they need a great mgmt team there to keep things up and running, the whole team walks around like they don't know what to do, they also need to advertise the hell out of this place to get people in there.. unless you drive down Woodbury, you'd never even know this place existed! . Work out the kinks & make it fun, and this place could be great!

I was excited to go to Cloak and Blaster last night, but at every turn I was met with disappointment. It's a neat concept, and going out and table-topping and meeting new people would be cool. But I was met with rude, unhelpful staff, who literally did everything in their power to make sure they didn't acknowledge my existence, even though there was no one else sitting anywhere near me at the bar. Or when I joined my group no one asked me if I wanted anything at all, completely ignored. Not sure if it's because I'm a woman, or they just don't want my money. The decor is okay at best, it looks like it needs to be a little more polished as time goes on. The bathrooms were clean, so that's good. TL;DR - good bar for college kids who don't have anything else around, and don't know any better. I'd like to give it one more try when I'm not so upset about not being treated like a human.

I typically don't write reviews after the first visit, but I just had to for this place. The situation: I went to this place on Saturday with 6 other people. A friend of mine told us about it, how it's supposedly a pub perfect for those who enjoy games, specifically table-top ones- and it is! To start off, I wanna get to the positives, and one of them is the atmosphere. I heard from someone else that when this place just started, it was pretty barren, but when I went, it was filled with some pretty awesome decor that sets the mood: wooden tables and chairs, somewhat low lighting reminiscent of an old tavern. There's a huge poster on the right that features Lord of The Ring characters. On the televisions behind the bar, they were playing some Dota 2 tournament (I'm not too familiar with this game) and their menu is filled with gaming puns- overall, the decor was wonderful; it could use a few more things, but hey, it's nicely done so far! Another positive: their wide selection of beers and ales. Well, it's a pub, so that's expected, but I did thoroughly enjoy their mixed drink section. They had a drink called Nuka Cola and another called Mass Effect. Very clever. Before I continue one to the negatives, I want to point something out: someone in the Tips sectioned mentioned that you're coming with a large group, to get there before 8pm, and I agree 100%. The 7 of us had never been here before, but we were lucky enough to get in right when they opened (which is at 6pm). Not even an hour later, they were PACKED. It's definitely a place you'd go to with several friends, so I'm not too surprised by this. To what I didn't enjoy. Their food selection is a little...boring. They house your typical pub food like hamburgers and chicken sandwiches- actually, they only had one chicken sandwich and two different burgers, one burger being $2 more than the other because it has a single fried onion ring in it. I ordered what they call The Smaug: a basic hamburger (you can add cheese and/or bacon for a few bucks extra) with a sriracha/mayo condiment. Mind you, the condiment is absolutely delicious (I'm getting my own bottle of Sriracha sauce soon!), but the burger and tater tots I got as a side was nothing special. My friend ordered a stack of onion rings that was just as boring, and the fries my other friends ordered were not to our liking. I mean, people are mostly going there to play games with their friends and throw back a couple of drinks, so I guess the food wouldn't be top priority, but still. Side note: if you love yourself some chicken strips, you're out of luck; they don't have any. Well, to start off our stay there, I ended up ordering the Nuka Cola, which is Dr. Pepper mixed with Innis & Gunn (a type of beer). I've had my fair share of mixed drinks with beer in it before, but I've NEVER had one that was so flat; absolutely ZERO fizz in my drink. I don't know if they let the cup of Dr. Pepper sit out until it lost all it's fizz or something, but it ended up not tasting good. Actually, I don't even really remember what it tasted like. But I do remember not liking it. The main reason why i didn't enjoy my stay all that much though was because of the service. At first, we had this excellent waiter, but because we had to get a bigger table, we ended up with a different waiter. She clearly was not having a good day, even though she JUST started working. As stated previously, I got The Smaug that is supposed to come with sriracha/mayo sauce (which is the only exciting thing about the burger), but mine had none. I started eating the tots but had no dipping sauce, so I asked the sriracha. She came back with a bitter-looking face and gave me this incredibly tiny amount of sauce, LESS than a pack of BBQ sauce you'd get at McDonald's or someplace similar. It was then I noticed the lack of sauce in my burger (I started with the tots first) that I asked for more. I could've sworn she rolled her eyes before she came back with the SAME TINY AMOUNT. If I ever come back to this place and end up with her again, I'll ask for a different waitress. Do I see myself coming back? Definitely! But on a full stomach.

I get that they're still working out the kinks. Only 3 stars for now but it has some 5 star potential. A few qualms from my first visit: We waited by the door awkwardly for a few minutes before we were helped. The host who say us eventually picked up menus for the two in our party, promptly handed my boyfriend his menu, and then held the second and read aloud a few entrees from it. I sat empty handed. I thought that he'd at least be familiar enough with the menu...I was certainly less familiar and left without a menu to reference. Weren't sure if we were to seat ourselves or wait. Pretzel bites were partially burned black. Gave me the wrong beer. And wrong description. I asked about some craft beer I don't recall the name and the waitress described it and then gave me a Leinenkeugels Summer Shandy. What? Burger ordered w/o onions came out with onions. Steamed veggies were a bit crunchy. The appetizers and entrees came out within 5 minutes of each other. Between the game and the appetizers there was hardly any room for the plates anyway. And the way the rules of the place were presented so predominantly from the beginning- I felt like a small kid being excessively chastised from the second I opened my menu.

Great place to hang out with friends. Yes it is loud; but that is how many geek related places are when players being emotionally hyped on their games. The servers are cool to chat with and are as geeky as you would be and the environment screams geek. Will be coming back to enjoy their selections of ales, drafts and so paying $30 for Chausters mead; which the serve it warm and with the spices.

Let me start off by saying I had no idea what I was in for. My wife and I were invited out by some friends to try this place out. As soon as I stepped in Pam Poovey herself greeted me because it was the Archer season premiere and every employee was dressed as a character from the show. The giant Christmas tree was still lit and I did enjoy our server dressed as Ray dressed as Mallory from the Benoit balls episode. Two floors, down we have the bar, restrooms and tabletops for MTG or anything card game wise. Upstairs we have the video game area and you can play if you pay so start a tab. We had the Triforce Sampler which was wonderful and loaded up on cider. I tried the Highlander burger and that was an awesome burger in my belly. Good prices and after 8 no one under 18, what's not to love about that. We brought our own Cards Against Humanity deck and started it up. The next table had the house deck and we all decided to put our two groups together. Drunken couple of hours of really lewd fun. Can't wait to go back.

Pretty obvious the owners asked their friends to help review this place because there is no way its ranking should be this high. Not much to say which hasn't already been said. Horrible service, clueless owners, bland food knocked off from other geek restaurants, and did I mention horrible service? I won't be returning anytime soon.

If you want a different Pub experience this your place. Over 100 different alcoholic selections available including impossible to find meads and ciders. If you are into Sci Fi fantasy and/or boardgames this is the place to go. If not they will still welcome you to enjoy the brew!

The food is alright . The way they make themselves different from the crowd is the video games and board games. The scenery is awesome and is definitely a nerds paradise. You may ask why one star? The reason is when I went with 4 of my friends we waited for an hour totally our fault no reservation . When we ordered we started playing cards against humanity . We finished eating and then we were asked every 2 minutes if we needed anything else . Then 20 minutes later we were asked to leave rudely I might add ." If you guys aren't going to get more food you have to leave. So are you going to order anything?" We ordered a burger each of us an appetizer and some us got 2 drinks. We eat fast. I just think ordering that much food should buy us more time then that. The part that pissed me off there were other tables that got there before us not eating and they were never asked if they needed more or wanted to leave. There was a group upstairs not eating that didn't get asked to leave. I am never going back

We went here on a Friday night with some friends and it was great. The atmosphere was great and they had a good selection of games for patrons to check out. They had an incredible beer/cider/mead selection. They had some fun drink concoctions. The food was good, I'm hoping that they expand their selection after they've been open a while since it's somewhat limited. The pretzels with cheese appetizers is a must. The cheese dip was delicious. Their tater tots were cooked to perfection. While we ordered an app and dinner I think I'd get a variety of app and drinks instead of a main course next time so that it's easier to keep the food coming so that I'm not that person holding up a table and not ordering. We'll definitely be returning. It's a good thing we don't live closer or we'd be there all the time.

The setup is exactly what you want to see in a place where people are going to sit and enjoy themselves for several hours. Large tables and plenty of space between them to get around. Wait staff is alright, but not the most skilled. They do sometimes leave you waiting for what will feel like an extended period. The food is good, but nothing to write home about.

The two times we visited the Cloak & Blaster we had good food and fun filled experiences. It's a truly unique and welcoming experience for those unfamiliar with the "geek" scene and still feels like home to those of us who are said geeks. 4.75/5 The Service: I can't knock C&B hard on service because these first two visits were a private pre-opening Legend of the Five Rings (L5R) event and last night for their soft opening. At the L5R event, my wife and I sat at the bar while the tournament was raging on. Both bartenders that night were extremely attentive, swift, and personal. We had arrived after the initial rush, yet there were still drinks and food orders being served, so it's safe to say that the staff did an impeccable job that first night. 5/5 Last night was the public soft opening and it was packed! Every table was filled from opening at 6:00-11:30 pm when we left. My wife and I had a group of friends with us for a total of six people at our table. The service was slower due to the huge influx of guests and there were a few bumpy spots throughout the night, but the entire staff was always helpful, full of energy, and never in the slightest rude. 4.5/5 Again, I'm taking into consideration that this it was a soft opening and there are always a few wrinkles to iron out when any business opens. Just as a note, we were there from 6:00-11:30 by choice NOT because of slow service. 5/5 The Atmosphere: Decor wise C&B is a Geek Mecca. The downstairs dining room/bar area has a medieval/Old English Tavern feel with different walls having different themes. The main wall is covered with Tolkien memorabilia. We have heard there is also going to be a large piece of Hobbit art to fill a part of the wall which will be truly epic! Another wall is decorated with pirate decor, a third themed Harry Potter, and the overall pub just feeling like a comfy Hobbit feasting hall. The tables are all in-house made specifically for the rustic charm and throughout the pub there are little hidden "Easter Eggs" that will make you smile if you find them. The upstairs (opening soon) is the Very Important Gamers (VIG) area which is completely Sci-fi themed to Star Wars, Star Trek, Mass Effect, Doctor Who, and more! All of the beautiful flat screen televisions not dedicated to video gaming are always streaming some sort of geeky program. Last night Star Trek Into Darkness and Space Balls were playing. The music last night was a mix of soundtracks I knew and others I did not, but all of which I enjoyed and made our night feel that much more Legen...wait-for-it...DARY! 5/5 The Food: This is a pub and they serve pub food! The best part is we all enjoyed the grub, even me who is picky about greasy food. Considering the soft opening, C&B had their "Beta Testing" menu last night which was one page of food and two pages of drink. Between the six of us, we ordered almost everything on the menu and it was all fantastic. The Two Towers/Sauron/Saramun dishes (onion ring towers) were absolutely to die for. They were certainly One Ring (towers) to Rule Them All! I started off with one tower and by the end of the night, each couple had ordered one! The steak cut fries were great as well as the Po-Tay-Toes (tater tots) as Samwise would say. We also ordered an appetizer from Lothlorien, a Hummus Veggie and Pita Platter which everyone at the table shared and enjoyed. The hummus was fresh with a great consistency, not over seasoned, and NOT heavy on oil. Two people also ordered the pretzel sticks with beer cheese dip. The only slight complaint of the food was the beer cheese running a little thin. But both of the owners reassured us that the chefs were still working to perfect this and it will be perfect soon! The group also split two regular burgers and a veggie burger. The omnivores in the group both greatly enjoyed their burgers noting that they were cooked perfectly to order and had a great flavor. For the two veggies at the table, the veggie burger was great as well. Our only concern was a slight lack of seasoning, our recommendation was just a dash more of salt and black pepper, but this was easily fixed by some of that great hummus on the bread. Drink wise only one of the group members actually consumed alcohol but he absolutely loved his Angry Orchid and warm Mead in his C&B Mug! The rest of us had soft drinks including an amazing concept... root beer ON TAP! I myself went on a sugar craze and drank three root beers and more were ordered by others. The cream and cola soda sweetened by cane sugar were great as well Simply put, if you want great pub food, amazing craft drink, friendly and energetic service, and truly EPIC atmosphere, there is no place in Orlando (and let me extend that to all of Florida) as awesome as Cloak & Blaster. My recommendation: grab your trusty lightsabre, blaster, wand, or sonic screwdriver and head down to C&B for the best time you could ever have at a put!

This bar is made for geeks and nerds of all varieties. Whether your thing is Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, or simply board games and craft beer, you'll feel right at home at The Cloak & Blaster. There are two parts to this bar. The downstairs vibe is all tavern -- think "Lord of the Rings." The upstairs is classic video and tabletop gaming, full of couches, tables, and TVs for video games. Both are incredibly fun and you are encouraged to hang out and relax by the friendly staff. The board game options definitely facilitate this too -- and the staff knows that some games will inevitably keep you there longer than others. As for the menu? The beer and cider options are extensive and delicious, and the food (while I have not tried too much of it) was a solid accompaniment to the drinks. Good pub grub, fun games, great atmosphere -- the Cloak and Blaster is all around a fantastic place to spend time.

We happened to arrive on a Special Event Night, Harry Potter! We had so much fun. The menu was changed the reflect the event. The staff was dressed up and all and all we were very please with our service. The staff was attentive and we were never in need of anything. We will definitely return again.

Last night I went here for the first time. They were hosting a Pajama Party, which meant coloring sheets and crayons were provided, guests and employees were decked out in their best sleepwear attire, '90s cartoons were playing on the televisions at the bar, and a specialty breakfast menu was provided. Every table was packed with guests munching on delicious food, while simultaneously playing board games and card games. I peeked upstairs and it was a very casual set up with couches and several TVs hooked up to different video game consoles. The board game selection included classics that you'd normally play with family growing up, adult favorites like Cards Against Humanity, and unique games that you cannot find just anywhere (We played Cartoona. We'd never heard of it, but it was so much fun, I just might buy it.) We did wait almost an hour to be sat, but the hostess was clear about that being our wait time, AND it was also an event night, so I can imagine the place might have been a little more packed than usual. Our service was quick, friendly, and honest. Right up front we were informed of specific menu changes and told what substitutions could be made. I watched as all the servers make appearances frequently to their tables. They were always personable and often interacted checking in on the status of the table's game. They even made beer runs upstairs to the video game lounge. Last but not least, the food. My boyfriend and I both ordered veggie burgers. His came with beer cheese and mine came with guacamole. It was nice their regular menu was available as well as their specialty breakfast dishes, since we weren't quite up for french toast and pancakes. The burgers were moist, well layered, and came with the best fries. I am usually not one that can finish off my helping of fries, but these were perfectly seasoned and I ate every single one. We will definitely return. We did not purchase alcoholic beverages on this trip, but their drink menu is extensive and nicely priced, so that is a must for next time.

Man, I wish The Cloak and Blaster had been around when I was still living in Orlando! Great environment, great food, great service, and lots of fun! Everything I ate was delicious (highly recommend The Lannister -- yum), and the theming in this place makes one feel all warm and geeky inside. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of food and the gaming opportunities. It's obvious the owners really take pride in what they're doing. My only negative is that there is no teleporter between PA and Orlando so we can visit whenever we want. Need to work on that! :) We will definitely be back next time we're in town!

The atmosphere and food are great but there have been a few missteps since I've been here... The most recent time (yesterday) there was no ice for drinks, one of the fryers were down so food took a long time, my friend ordered stew that was like warm... No compensation for any of the problems going on that night... I keep raving about this place to my friends but there seems to be issues everytime we go.

Best place hands-down to get some good food, good beer and play games. I came here for the first time last Sunday around 9 o'clock at night because I figured it wasn't going to be too crowded and noisy. I've driven past this bar several times and have always wanted to stop by. When walking up to the double glass doors my heart literally stopped. The etching for the Doors of Durin (in the Mines of Moria) welcomed me. (You LOTR fans know what I'm talking about). I knew right then and there that this place was going to be the bees knees! So after saying the password "Mellon," (which translates to "friend" in Sindarin)(sorry, inner nerd coming out) I swung open the door and was greeted by a multitude of my favorite sci-fi and fantasy worlds. Everything from LInk's shield to Hogwart's house flags to a Game of Thrones statue. This place is a haven for fandoms, nerds and geeks alike. One really must take the time to explore every nook and cranny of this place. You can appreciate the details the owners put into it and feel free to take pictures and share them with friends to make them jealous! Even the menu is fantasy themed with items such as "The Two Towers," "Iron Throne," "The One Ring," etc. It's really fun to read all the descriptions too. *For the full menu scroll to bottom Their beer selection is huge and it's constantly changing to what's in season which is really nice. I sat at the bar and ordered the "Tri-Force Sampler" which was excellent. A basket full of onion rings, soft pretzel bits, beer cheese and "dragon's eggs" (chicken nuggets with siracha infused breading). I downed that with a Two Henrys Biltmore Blueberry Vanilla Wheat and B Nektar Tropical Kill All the Golfers. Both were on tap so I was able to try a sample before committing to buy a full glass which was cool. The service is friendly and the owners are really down-to-earth. They have bookcases filled with a plethora of board games that you can play and an upstairs gaming room with a full bar. Yes, a place like this truly exists for us adults who will always be nerds at heart. As I mentioned before, I ventured to this place on my lonesome but by the of the night, I met a group of five really cool people and we ended up playing some board games. It was a blast and I'm so glad I came here. I will be back for more! * Click link or copy and paste into your browser cloakandblaster.com/wp-c…

The best pub in Orlando, possibly the country! Food is awesome (especially their hamburgers!) Beer selection is awesome. It's a great place to go relax, and see some friends and make new friends during a board game, card game or nerd debate. The service is also top notch and super friendly!

Cloak and Blaster is a fun place to hang out with a group of friends. It's one of the more laid-back bars in Orlando because of the wonderful geekiness that exists once you enter the Lord of the Rings-themed front doors. The bar is decorated with Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones themed-items and the food menu has things named for them as well. There is a video game lounge upstairs, but I haven't used it so can't give you any recommendations. Downstairs there area large banquet tables where you can play games, eat, and enjoy the craft beer selection. it does get very busy and you may have to wait for a table but it usually doesn't take long. Get there when they open if you don't want to worry about that. Their beer selection is my favorite thing about the place. They always have a wide variety of beers and many times have specials from different breweries. Both draft and bottle lists are very extensive and some of the best on that side of town. The thing I haven't liked so far is their food. Some of the choices have been bland (Sheppard's Pie) and others didn't come out well (cheese dip). They need to work on consistency in the kitchen to rate another star. Overall, we enjoy coming here for the laidback atmosphere, friendly people, and great beer. I'd recommend checking it out if you want a very non-pretentious place that you can sit back and enjoy some time with friends in a fantastically geeky environment.

This place combines two of my favorite things: games and beer. The owner's of this place did a fantastic job making this place feel like a tavern in which you can sit down with your friends, play some games, and grab a pint. Pros: Great selection of games to choose from (including a video game lounge upstairs) Comic book selection to read from Good craft beers on tap and bottled Friendly atmosphere Cons: Despite enjoying the burger I ordered (The One Ring), I wish it taste a little better for the pricing. It's not that the food was bad. In fact, it was far from it. It was just lacking the kind of flavor I was expecting. I can happily say I will be back and ready for another entertaining game of Munchkin!

This place is perfect for nerding out with your friends!!!! The game selection is awesome and the theming is even better :) they really did a good job with this place. Wish the menu had some healthier options on it. I believe there was one salad? Kudos to the staff for keeping the place really clean and for making the atmosphere pleasant, I will be going back and bringing more friends :)

This place is pretty fantastic. You won't find a vibe or an atmosphere like this place anywhere else. The food is pretty fantastic. You know food that you see in commercials and pictures? The kind that just makes you hungry? Well that's what their food looks like and it tastes even better. Their drinks are fun too. They have some very interesting mixed drinks that are worth trying out. They don't serve hard liquor but in this kind of atmosphere you won't be bothered by it. After all, you can get mead there. They also have board games, sofas and TVs that you can play games on. The place is well decorated and you'll have plenty of things to look at and enjoy while you're there.

So we visited with a few friends on a Saturday around 8PM which was perfect since it was busy but still plenty of tables. Definitely do recommend coming early and having at least 4 in your party already there if if have a semi big group-so you don't lose the table. The atmosphere is great. Geek and nerd pop culture items spread all over, old wood tables with card and table top games covering every ink, and laughing smiling fellow geeks having a great time. As soon as we walked in, I whispered to my hubby, "Our people". You can bring your own games and risk them getting wet or a little greasy from food fingers. They have a huge selection, which is awesome. The most prevalent references come from the Lord of the Ring series, so LOTR fans should definitely be happy. The best part are the TV's, not a sportsball game in sight! It's all geeky movies, gameplay streaming from upstairs, or my favorite, Twitch (they were on a Hearthstone match when we were there). We didn't get upstairs. After food, talking, and gameplay we were exhausted. I had the Garrus Grilled Cheese and the hubby the Lannister. He said his was a little light on the peanut butter as he only tasted it on the ends. Mine was fine. The bacon was a little tough but it was still yummy. The fresh cut fries were good too. We shared a Tri-Force Sampler. Tip: if you like sriracha, great..it's ALL OVER THE PLACE-like not splattered on the walls all over the place, but on a ton of dishes. I"m not a fan so I avoided the dragon eggs, but everything else in the sampler was mine. Definitely visiting again.

The Cloak and Blaster is an awesome place to hang out with friends and revel in geek culture. They have Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones themed menu items and cool decorations everywhere. The upstairs features a video gaming lounge packed with couches and consoles. The downstairs area has a dining area and a bar, and you can select from a huge library of board games like Cards Against Humanity or Settlers of Catan. Unfortunately, the food and service leave something to be desired. I really wanted to love this place, but the burgers were dry and the fries were soggy. They won't cook the burger to anything less than medium, which was actually more like well done. The drinks were not bad, and the mixed drinks are worth checking out. They even have mead as an option. I took the server's recommendation for the mead on draft, but didn't like it personally. She seemed offended when I asked to exchange it for something else, and simply stated that "we don't do that here." Overall, I don't think we'll rush back anytime soon, but if we do come back it would only be for the bar and the games.

I honestly don't understand why everyone raves about the food. It's not good. It lacks flavor and never comes out hot, it's always luke warm. Not to mention it's overpriced for some chicken nuggets and onion rings essentially. The owners aren't very welcoming and one always has an attitude and a disgruntled look on her face. The only perks of this place are the large bottled beer selection and the people who frequent the bar. Not returning anytime soon.

My kids and I are big gamers, so what better a place to come to than Cloak and Blaster. We came in for dinner on a Sunday as soon as the opened (6PM as kids under 18 need to be out by 8PM) First off, The good. Everyone is very nice and welcoming. Our server, Matt was great and went through the menu items and all new beers on tap. The decor is very cool! Lots of movie replicas and props hanging around, as well as Link's shield and other various swords and movie posters. The other nice thing is that they promote the use of their games. They have a large bookshelf of games to choose from. A driver's license is required to check out a game (this is bad, as you may forget it.) They have a pretty decent selection of craft beer in bottles and on tap. OK, now for the not so good. The food menu is pretty weak. The appetizers sound good, but the two we got were not very good. We went with the tots, which were soggy and had several burnt ones (not sure how that happens) and the Tri Force, which consisted of chips, guacamole, cheese sauce, and salsa. I have to say, I was not impressed. The chips were not of good quality and everything else was store bought. I actually had the same guacamole I purchased from Publix a week earlier. Everything has a really cool name, but the bulk of the menu is burgers. We got two different burgers to share, The One Ring and one with Teriyaki sauce (forgot the name) They are really just average. Nothing more. So do I recommend coming here? Yes, but do not have high expectations for the food. Just know it is a place to hang out with friends, and play some DD and enjoy a good beer. I do hope the food improves though.

My first time here, I left before ordering after waiting for 20 minutes at a moderately busy bar. It was a ridiculous experience. This time the bartender was attentive and prompt with checking in on us. You can't take your drinks outside, and I get it, but it's unfortunate considering we live in the tropics. The beers are of the craft liking and this joint is heavily themed. Plenty of games of all kind and a large space to accommodate many. The food was "okay". My order was partially wrong and the food was warm. Taste = "good," but nothing that is going to leave you feeling it was awesome. The beer cheese is a good option for your sandwich, so consider that. They cut and make the fries in-house and have tots if that's your style. This is a nerd bar. I say this with respect and forewarning that if you don't have 10 sided dice, you won't understand most anything there. Don't be surprised to see employees painted and dressed as different kinds of characters. Give it a shot. It's certainly unique.

I honestly can't say anything bad about this place. The food was on point (suggest the one onion burger with bacon) make sure to try the fresh cut fries! They are on point! You can play board games while drinking or waiting for your food. They also have a second deck with game consoles. 5 dollars for half and hour or just keep a tab open. Which ever fancies you more.

Cloak & Blaster has grown to be one of my favorite places to visit for good food, an excellent selection of beer, and a new group of friends. I've been coming since their beta opening and enjoyed seeing how they've expanded the nerd space and refined their menu and experience. They have themed events and menus that are always interesting and puny names for items. Note - Before fully opening Cloak & Blaster did an extended soft opening they called a beta. Reading over some of the lesser star reviews looking at when they were posted they were here during that time. The staff & menus made it very clear they were still in a soft opening and learning & adapting to their new concept of a nerd pub. One of the issues with catering to a nerd crowd is their inability to deal with confrontation so instead of discussing issues with staff they post negative reviews instead.

I really like this place. If I ever needed to drown my sorrows, this would be the place. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the burgers. it's a thick patty with no seasoning. If you do order a burger, be sure to sprinkle some salt on the patty, and add a generous amount of mayo. Other than that, it's all good. The fries are fresh cut and super tasty. Without the fries I might have given 3 stars. What can I say? I'm a fry snob.

I wanted to be utterly, totally, completely in love with this place. Here's some stuff I loved about my visit: It's nerd paradise. Boardgames at the tables, an upstairs lounge with huge tvs and new consoles, a gaming catalogue that will keep any demanding gamer happy. TVs downstairs display popular and local twitch gamers. Here's a big draw for me on why it just didn't hack it: the service was utterly lacking. By lacking, I mean to say that our server was incredibly difficult to track down, order from, or even get the attention of. When I'm knee deep in playing Munchkin, I have NO problem waiting 10 minutes for my server to come around for my drink order. But 20 minutes? Really? Ordering apps took another 20+, and dinner itself just didn't happen because we were too tired of waiting. When time came to pay the check, I eventually had to approach the bartender and one of the owners to pay. When I tried to politely and quietly mention issues, the owner was actually quite rude, which I was pretty surprised about. I wanted to love this place with all of my heart, but when 6 out of 6 people that were with me say they weren't impressed with the food, and the service sucked, we won't be coming back. Other places like Player One and BART have significantly better offerings for older nerds looking to spend money and have a place become their weekly gathering place.

Basic but tasty food. Really wide selection of beers and cider and even mead on tap, and even more bottles! They already have a decent selection of card and board games to play while you sit and drink and talk, or you can bring your own. Great atmosphere for the nerd/geek/gamer crowd - lots of big tables, which means you can come with a big group and all sit together, or come with a smaller group and make new friends! Updated 4/26/15: Food has gotten even better. Special event menus are awesome. They have gluten-free menu options as well, and the staff is knowledgeable about preventing cross-contamination issues.

I am a huge nerd and all I can really say is it is a relief that a place like this finally exists. Not only is all the food themed towards all of the nerdy fandoms that I am obsessed with, but the entire decor of the place makes it look like you are eating in a medieval tavern. I went on a Wednesday night so it was not very crowded which gave it a very relaxed and chill atmosphere where you could very easily play any game you wanted. I tried 3 out of the many crafted beers they had and was really happy with the selection they had. I love craft beers and the bartender was very informative on the process of how each beer got its flavor and where it was derived from. I also was able to try one of the appetizers called the triforce which was a perfect combination of soft pretzal bites, onion rings, and little Unique chicken bites called dragons eggs that had a siracha infused flavor. I give the food and beer 4 stars and the atmosphere and service 5 stars. Definitely will be a regular coming back to this place!

I just wish I could show friends this place during the day. One thing I love about this place is it is quiet. They didn't have loud music blasting so you could enjoy conversation with people. I loved the upstairs home game section, but the downstairs main area is a classic renaissance type pub. Like a drinking hall out of Beowulf. I loved the artifacts on the bulletin board from Back to the Future III or Captain America movies. The toilet is labeled as a port key to the Ministry of Magic. The menu is a must read. The Wedge Antilles Wedge Salad? Oh yes. Friendly staff. A safe haven for geek culture. Check it out!

Best concept ever! Friendly staff, sick brews available, and lots of down to (middle earth) revelers. Food is damn tasty - went on Harry Potter night and all 3 dishes we ordered plus the homemade scone were excellent. Can't wait to journey back to the 407 for another visit.

Get the tower of onion rings. The sriacha-infused mayo dip goes amazing with pretty much anything. Beer selection is fantastic, my friend got the sampler and the presentation was really cool. I tried mead for the first time there. Forgot the name (something to do with zombies I think), but it was really good! Interesting experience for sure. This place is a must-try for any gamer. Also, the owners are amazing people.

First visit for trivia last night and I was pretty disappointed. I had high hopes for Cloak and Blaster with it's really creative menu, board and card games for customers to play, and of course the awesome geekdom trivia. Unfortunetly, I sat at the bar for 10 minutes and finally had to ask for a beer menu. After getting a beer I decided on hummus and ordered. 35 minutes later I inquired about it and in another 10 minutes appeared. 45 minutes for a cold app? The kicker was that they would only give me extra veggies for an upcharge. Although the ladies behind the bar were friendly, after waiting and not being comped at all, overall it was just really bad customer service.

I have to say I was concerned when I was recommended to go to a board/video game pub. After walking in, I realized I was in a place of my people. After we took a look around and saw the decorations of all shapes and sizes and fandoms. I, being a Harry Potter fan, was very excited to see all four houses represented in the decorations, not to mention the Ministry of Magic entrances in the bathrooms. There were fandoms represented in all forms. Everything from Lord of the Rings to Doctor Who to Star Wars to Game of Thrones to Legend of Zelda and more. If you're a nerd, a fan of it, and want to relax and eat while chatting about it, this is the place for you. I have to say, what made our visit most enjoyable was our server- I mean, party leader (I kid you not, that's what his job title is on the receipt.) Marky Mark. He chatted with us and made us feel like we were old friends. He welcomed us when he found out that this was our first visit and was very attentive, always checking in us to see if we were doing ok. Thanks Marky Mark! The food was delicious! I highly recommend ordering the Twin Towers Onion Rings and the Dragon Eggs! They have drinks of all flavors! I stuck with good old Butterbeer! They also have a fantastic selection of board games that you can take back to your table and play while you're eating and enjoying yourself. All in all, my friends and I had a fantastic time and are already planning another trip here on Friday. Thanks guys!

Damn it. I really want to give this place 5 stars because the premise for the restaurant is just too damn cool. The inside of the restaurant resembles an old tavern, but not just any old tavern. You feel like you just walked into The Prancing Pony from Lord of the Rings. There are references to fantasy/nerd culture all over the place. Tolkien? Represented. Harry Potter? Present. Game of Thrones? It's here. Video games? Oh, yes. There is literally a room on the second floor where you can just hang out and play video games with your friends. My friends and I played Destiny for a while until we decided that we prefer old school style gameplay, and switched to a demo of The Lego Movie Video Game. Downstairs there are bookshelves packed with old board games and card games. You're encouraged to play games at your table during and after your meal. This is a great idea, but you should probably plan on showing up early because it seemed like this places fills up quickly. So, the area where I have to take off a star, and I really hate to do this, is the food. It's not bad, per say. It's just doesn't rise above pretty good. All of the menu items have nods to various fantasy sources and video games. I ordered a Smaug burger which promised to set my mouth on fire. It was just....ok. It was cooked well and the ingredients were fresh. Yet nothing really made it stand out above other burgers I've had other than the cool name. The fries desperately needed more seasoning. They have a pretty extensive beer selection and a ton of mixed drinks, but since I don't drink, you're going to have to rely on other Yelpers to gauge their quality. Despite the food being ok at best, I'm still rooting for this place, and I'm more than willing to come back and give something else on the menu a shot. At the very least, it's still a cool place to hang out with your friends and meet cool new people.

The food is good, but on the night I went, they were out of half the stuff on the menu...including BURGERS. Also, when I ordered a $6 draft, I was brought an ALREADY OPENED $20 bottle. I told the server of the mistake and was told he would comp it and not to worry about it. So like a normal person, I drank the beer. The server the proceeded to come back and change his story 5 TIMES. Finally, he said I would have to pay for the beer because I drank it. EVEN THOUGH HE TOLD HE ME TO DRINK IT. Long story short, the owner came out and tried to negotiate with me over FOUR DOLLARS. Is customer service and repeat visitors not worth $4 to you? I absolutely do NOT understand the mentality here. Is the food good? Yeah, it's alright. Beer selection is GREAT! But customer service is horrible. I won't be back.

Food good, limited menu but large beer menu. Great place to go with friends to drink beer and play different kinds of games they have on hand.

I had a great time here and I can't wait for their actual opening! A lot of the concerns voiced will be addressed at that point. Such as: -Noise level. You can see they have already tacked a quilt to the wall as a temporary noise-sucker so they know it's an issue. Plus the gaming area opening upstairs is not as cavernous. -Gaming/Food table issues. The upstairs will be a gaming area with tables more suited to gaming, while the downstairs will be more for food and I'm guessing casual games you can easily play with food on the table. I mean, it's a gaming pub/restaurant so I'm not sure what people were expecting when they came here to eat and play games at the same time... I mean obviously there will be food on your table and there will be a game on your table... because you are eating while you are playing a game...... Anyways, the gaming area will help the people who can't figure out how to balance food and gaming at the same time. -Food. I was expecting the food to be so so so much worse than it was from some of these reviews. Again, it's pub food. You go to a pub for a beer and greasy food that will squelch the hangover. They're pretty up front about that. If you want "gastropub" go to a gastropub. It's nothing to write home about, but it's exactly what I wanted after downing a beer. And they have some interesting options and choices - Two types of vegetarian burgers, turkey burgers, chicken burgers, and regular burgers. And a burger with peanut butter and bacon on it... call me a fatty I don't even care that is delicious. -Staff. I don't really have anything to say about this. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and pretty knowledgeable about their beer selection. Speaking of beer selection. It's great! They have around 90 beers all in all, with a pretty great cider/lambic selection as well! I want to try more of their "Elixers" as well - the Lambic and Cider one was really good! Also had non-alcoholic root beer while I was there and looks like they just got in a case of butterbeer - yum! Also game selection is great! Lastly, it looks like a castle inside which is exactly where I want to play my games. In a castle. With a Cider. And my Greasy, Greasy pub food. Cheers!

I've seen various comments on this place, have to throw my thoughts into the sorting hat. This is a unique concept for Orlando, and one presented with an obvious passion by the owners. This is a tough road to travel. The key to a typical restaurant/bars success is turnover, constant turnover. C&B aims for something different, where friends are welcome to sit and play an extended game. It's hard to put those two together, but I think they're doing a great job. The vibe of the place changes, as they're somewhat new and building as they go. If you're into the gaming/fantasy theme, you're going to love this place. Walk in and there's a giant LoTR mural on the wall, and a welcoming warm vibe to the place. The food? It isn't Ravenous Pig folks, it's food to fill your belly while you're enjoying time and delicious beers with friends. They've got typical "pub fare" and the prices recently dropped a bit. You're not going to get a $2 grilled cheese here, but one has to consider they have to compensate for customers staying an extended time. I find the pricing to be reasonable for what's on offer. Beer selection is good. Whether you prefer something more simple, or have an adventurous flair, you're sure to find something interesting. They've got everything from a good ol' Guinness to some amazing and hard to find meads. Perfect for gaming friends. I have a lot of respect for what they're doing, and for how they've adapted as they've grown to meet their customers needs. I hope they have a long and fruitful stay in Orlando, I plan on drinking many a grog there talking with friends about the newest game or movie to come out. I dig the Cloak & Blaster. Good people, good ideas, and a fun place.

My husband and I live about 3 minutes from C&B and we love it. I'd say we go at least once a week, usually on early/off nights. We're personally not big into the noisy events. We work on a lot of artistic development stuff requiring long conversations for our job, so it's actually nice to be able to squat a table for a few hours without pushy waiters trying to turn the table (since they're used to people gaming for hours). We of course take a break and game too...if you go at a slow hour, you can generally get a waiter to recommend, and even teach, a new game. That's how we found Splendor and Ticket to Ride. Great games! Service - 5 star Atmosphere - 5 star Beer Selection - 5 star Food Quality - 5 star Food Selection - 4 star I give Selection a 4 because I'm not a burger person. If you don't go for burgers, then there's a few other options, but they're more on the expensive appetizer side (because you'd have to buy 2 apps to make a meal). If there was an entree with Dragon Eggs and fries w/beer cheese side, I'd be all set. Or even Dragon Eggs and hummus on the side. I can see that the vegans would have a problem here, but that doesn't much affect me. Though I've heard the black bean burger is awesome. I wouldn't recommend the Fish and Chips. Sadly...not a big enough thing to slash a star from this review, but the fish is super greasy and the inside of the breading is a little soggy. Healthy portion of fish though, which is nice compared to some places. This place has gotten better and better since their initial soft opening and with the owners constantly there and constantly fielding feedback, I've no doubt that it will get even better.

The Cloak and Blaster - 4/3 and 4/4 around 7:30pm. Pro: Unique and exciting bar and grill mixed with geek and gaming charm. Con: Limited seating and out of date beer menu. I visited the Cloak and Blaster for the first time on Friday, April 3rd. I arrived at 8:00pm and the place was packed due to their "Archer" end of season party . The staff was dressed as characters from the show. I ordered my drink from a very knowledgeable bartender. The wait time was 45 minutes and the seating was limited. I finished my beer and decided to come back the next night. I made a reservation with the hostess who was dressed like Pam from Archer. Very cool. The second visit was on Saturday, April 4th at 7:30pm. The restaurant confirmed my reservation by text message earlier in the day and I was seated immediately upon arrival. The staff seems to really like working here. Everyone was very friendly and passionate about their jobs. The one piece of advice I have is to ask you server about the availability of beers before you make up your mind. The beer menu is out of date. A staff member said that the menu will be updated soon. I ordered the one tower onion rings, Iron Throne French fries and their black bean burger. The onion rings were crispy, tasted fresh and served with a great dipping sauce. The fries reminded me of 5 guys and were both crisp and tender. They appeared to be hand cut and seasoned just right. The black bean burger had a great taste, great texture and was served with guacamole. This is a real treat for those of us who like pub food but follow a meatless diet. Overall this is a very unique and fun place to grab a drink or sit down and eat. The place has lots of games to choose from and is themed like a great hall from medieval times. If you are looking for something different in the bar and grill world, this is a place you need to check out.

So, a few friends and I visited this establishment on a Friday evening. We arrived at 6pm before the doors opening, anticipating a crowd. Boy, were we right! We got a great table with plenty of room, but saw the bar fill up instantly. That's where you can play Mario Kart, and it fills up quick! It was Friday the 13th so the evening had a theme, and the servers were all in costume. While the server was inexperienced, and there were too many customers to make the wait-staff speedy (we waited so long for napkins to mop up a spill we ended up using paper towels from the restroom), the evening was still enjoyable. Games galore are offered for customer use and my party chose Cards Against Humanity, probably not the best choice in such a loud environment. We were constantly having to shout over the noise, and the things you say playing this game is not always suitable to a family establishment! It was nerd heaven though, and quite a few patrons arrived in costume. I ordered the Lannister burger with tater toys, and although my cheese wasn't melted and they forgot my peanut butter, we still stayed over 4 hours. Currently there is no time limit on how long you can stay, so a lot of people were standing waiting for a table. But with all the gamers, the wait was very long. All in all, I see this becoming a popular hang-out.

I had incredibly high hopes for this place, being that I'm a relatively geeky person. While it wasn't terrible, I wasn't overly impressed with some aspects of this establishment. First of all I must say, I absolutely love the super nerdy sci-fi fantasy art and decor all over the walls. Second the menu items have absolutely hilarious and on point names. Well you can expect your typical pub fare, you do get a kick out of the names they come up with. 4 example there was a drink on the menu called the dark arts, after harry potter lore. The quality of the food lease something to be desired I must say. There aren't many options for vegetarians or vegans, which was a bit disappointing. The options for me eaters isn't much better. I ordered some spicy chicken bites that were just sort of blah. my vegan wife ordered the hummus platter and was not impressed. It just order felt bland which is surprising considering it's fairly difficult to mess up vegetables and hummus. Our friend ordered a chilly in a bread bowl and said it was not good at all. On a positive note, the service and staff were all very friendly and attentive. This place is rather far from where we live downtown so I'm not sure we will be back unless its for special occasion. I hope when we visit in the future dave corrected their food quality.

I figure I've been going to this place often enough... I should probably give a Yelp review. I'll start off with price: the price are going to bother you if the idea of paying $7 for some tater tots rubs you the wrong way. But you also have to realize that since C&B offers gaming (with no time limit, mind you), they need to jack those prices up so you don't have a bunch of nerd lords hoarding a table or two for their Pathfinder session. That aside, this place is a nice treat! Plethora of tabletop games to choose from with less hipsters than Stardust (the only other place I know of with any amount of tabletop games). The servers are all adorable and geeky, and they provide decent service. There's always something dweeby streaming on the TVs, which is a nice change of pace from watching the Jaguars get their behinds handed to them on the big screen. The room upstairs caters exclusively to the gaming type, with several TVs and consoles set up to play the latest video games. The overall atmosphere is very welcoming for those of us who are into the finer things in life (like D&D and Mass Effect, obviously). The food? It's typical greasy pub fare that'll leave you feeling sick if you're past your prime where you could down Taco Bell and Krystals in the same night and not wanna die. I've had The One Ring, Po-Tay-Toes, Two Towers, and some other pricey snacks... nothing's really wowed me. Excellent beer selection though, even though I'm not the biggest fan of beer. They offer enough to where even the snootiest non-beer drinker such as myself can find something alcoholic to enjoy. Because drunk Catan needs to always be a thing. Overall, C&B's one of my favorite occasional spots to chill if I ever find myself wanting to do something on the east side of town. The gaming selection is great, even if the food is mediocre. But the extensive beer/cider choices and inviting atmosphere make up for it and keep me coming back
