Worst food ever!!! Oil used was bad.. 19 dollars for buffet which had 6-7 items and the food sucked! And 5 dollars for a tea with no refills! There was a stapler or some metal in food and when we showed them then they said must have come in rice while cleaning dishes!! They dont even have proper servers! This place should close down! Unhygienic and exorbitant prices for nothing!

Very horrible and disgusting food. Too expensive. Price could have been justified if supported with quality and taste. I will never recommend anyone to go here. If you are adding Taj to your restaurant name, people expects the food to be of that quality. Also the quantity is damn too less if you are opting for Ala- Carte. They are just looting customers. There are so many other superb indian restaurants in close proximity.

I just had their lunch buffet for $13.99 (pricey) and it just wasn't good. There wasn't anyone in there and we were probably the first guests to arrive since the food did not look touched. Go somewhere else with better food! The nan was good though.

$15 for a lunch buffet?? It would be ok if it was worth it but really not.. 6 items in the buffet and items were cold and disgusting. I would never in my life rec this place to anyone!! Just disrespectful to call this place an indian restaurant

  • Nikhil G.

Definitely not a place worth going. Prices are unnecessarily high and the variety/taste/quality of food do not comply with those prices.

We came across this restaurant after going into two others close by. The waitress let us come in and look at the buffet. We really liked the food and the staff was friendly. They even gave us a great price.

It was late in the night and we had very few Indian food options nearby. We went to this place knowing that we are taking a bit of risk. Our guess was correct, food was horrible here. Plus they charge your like crazy. Very expensive and disgusting food. We ordered chicken dishes and both were really bad. Even papad were fried using old oil. Please stay away from this place. There are lot of other good options around, even in late night.

The setting is very homely and there was a single lady handling when we arrived late at night. There was no feel of a restaurant, cosmetic aspect wise. The food was amazing with proper spices and portions. We ordered many different dishes, as we were party of 9 people and none had any flaws. The prices are definitely on higher side, but good food.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. Walked in and the place was empty. The buffet was stocked with the worst Indian food I have ever eaten in my life. Everything was watered down and way over spiced to cover up the lack of quality. The chicken was rubbery and flavorless. The naan they brought out tasted is if it has been taken out of a package and warmed in the microwave. Avoid this place like the plague!

  • Manoj K.

Charged $18 for really very bad buffet. Nans(bread) were frozen. Probably worst Indian food I had in my life.

    Bad food; Bad prices; avoid.

  • Matthew A.

Buffet is overpriced, has very few options, and tastes like the food has been sitting for hours.

I live in Orlando and have come to appreciate many outstanding Indian restaurants here. This one is not. By a mile. Inferior taste at outlandish prices. It is just shocking how this restaurant can stay in business with so many superb Indian restaurants in close proximity which charge 50% less and deliver 1000% more taste.

Food was good. Lamb Beryani is my favorite, and chicken masala as well. I recommend this restaurant to everyone

Yelp really has to incur the half star rating system. This isn't really 3 stars but not quite 4. Somewhere at 3.5 stars for this establishment inside a small strip mall on Carrier. The items on the menu seem overpriced and I'll be honest, I had no idea what anything was on it. That's why you have to go for the buffet because it is the cheapest thing on the item and yet you have a selection visible to what you want to eat vs you do not want to eat. I highly recommend the butter chicken. So good smothered with rice. You will get a nice quiet experience as patrons do not frequent this place vs other restaurants on the strip. It is an ok change of pace if you don't want a burger, pizza or seafood. I liked it. My lady will probably trash it in her review as she is big on international food. Go for the Butter chicken! Best thing they have there. *voices in my head talking as I typed that * Grade: B

No, just no. It's overpriced, and horrible. Nothing on the buffet was fresh. You could tell the gulab jamun had been sitting there for days and were hard.

Come here for the $10.99 (but as of 12/2011, now $12.99) lunch buffet! It's amazingly delicious. The food is always fresh, and they always deliver fresh naan to you at your table. The selection is not huge (like trays and trays of food that you see at some of the bigger Indian buffets) but hey quality over quantity! There's like ~6 dishes and some dishes for dessert (like kheer, the rice pudding, or hey, fresh bananas!) They do rotate some of their dishes day by day though. I found this out because my mom and sister and I loved this buffet so much that we came back two days after to find a few new dishes on the buffet line. Dishes that we saw include chana masala, palak paneer (my favorite), butter chicken (my sister's favorite), dal, chili chicken, and some sort of korma dish if I remember correctly. The owners/servers seem like very nice people, and they always took away our dirty plates in a timely fashion and asked if we ever wanted more fresh naan. My mom, sister, and I love this place and we'll be sure to come back when we're in Orlando again!

Worst Indian Food i have ever eaten !! Horribly expensive...No taste...very cold ....no variety...

  • Chuck C.

Terrible, overpriced buffet. The entire "lunch buffet" consisted of butter chicken, a couple dal (bean) dishes, a vegetarian cheese curd dish, one mixed veggie, rice, nan bread and some crackers for $12.99. Everything was lukewarm, overcooked, and looked like it had been sitting out for way too long. The butter chicken was OK, but everything else was terrible. I love good Indian food, but this is NOT it. There are quite a few excellent Indian restaurants in Orlando - stay away from this loser.

Ate here a few years ago and thought the food was great. Tried the lunch buffet today and was disappointed. Very watered down and little flavor. Also expensive. If you go, order off of the menu!!

Roomie and I were in the mood for Indian. This was the closest to our motel. We entered and were the only ones there. This is not unsual for us because we tend to eat at off restaurant hours. It gets us to our food faster. The buffet was decent enough and hot. The ladies tending us were helpful and pleasant. When not helping they sat in a booth chatting with each other but still keeping an eye on us if we needed anything. This was ok to me. The only issue I had was the price. I didn't feel the bill fitted the food. It was too pricey for a buffet to me. Then again this is in the heart of tourist town. They can charge what they please and get away with it.

$14 a person for buffet style. If you do not eat Indian food on a normal basis you might want to go this route. I am an international foodie, so it takes a lot to impress me. Was I impressed? absolutely NOT! For it be on I-drive will I complain? slightly! My Basmati rice was dry, my samosa were cold, the curry was not hot enough, and the food was lukewarm at best ( so has to be a health code violation), Galub Jamun aka diabetic dessert ball had a funny taste to it and I love Galub Jamun. Oh bathroom gave me that gas station in the middle of the country vibe. Good: Butter chicken with good with my naan bread that was not overly cooked. You can also watch Bollywood movies, and the service is not bad or great.

Loved it. We ate here back to back 3 times. We were staying very close to taj panjabi and first day we ordered chilly paneer , malai kofta, dal.... It was awesome n very tasty. Then We went two times again. Chilly paneer was among one of the best ever I had... Don't know about buffet. But ordered food was very good. Must go...

My husband and I decided to try this place out because of all the great reviews on Yelp and because it's a restaurant listed on restaurant.com . Middle eastern restaurants are usually a bit more pricey so we jumped on that deal! We had the chicken samosas for an appetizer, lamb pasanda and the beef biryani. The Lamb pasanda was my favorite. It's similar to curry but is creamier because of the yogurt they add. It also didn't taste like curry, it had another taste which made my taste buds scream AWESOME! :) The place had a buffet, but the selection was limited and you can't use the restaurant.com gift certificate for buffets. It was good authentic eats at Tab Punjabi! Plus it had cultural music videos playing on their TV, which screams good food :) (That's my theory and it's proven itself over and over)

Authentic and delicious. The atmosphere was great and I enjoyed the Bollywood films playing in the background

Generally, I throw a skeptical eye at anything on I-Drive - but we happened to be in the area, so I thought about options for lunch. I had read a write up on Taj Punjabi Indian Restaurant in Bite Magazine. My friend and I were immediately greeted and asked if we wanted a menu or buffet. We took a glance at the buffet and decided on it. It's essentially two 4-foot hot tables filled with vegetarian dishes. We were however given menus while we were deciding which direction to go with - buffet or menu. I felt a little rushed - we were deciding on food choices and drink choices before we even sat down and the place was completely empty. The food was delicious - all of our choices from the buffet were full of flavor, though a bit on the luke warm side. Plenty of spice in the dishes, and the buffet is served with a pita-type bread. Also very good. We enjoyed a mix of Bollywood and music videos on the television. We felt like we had made an awesome choice for lunch instead of sacrificing ourselves to typical I-Drive fare - but then came the bill. $29 for both of us to have the buffet and another $9 for 2 mango lassi drinks. I think had I known how pricey the buffet was (I did not see that posted anywhere - but I should have asked) I probably would have went with a menu item that would have been freshly made and hot. A glance at the menu suggested that all of the dishes start out around $15 and appetizers around $4. Overall it was a nice oasis among I-Drive madness - but with a $40 lunch bill I wasn't quite expecting - I would have expected hot food and more choices. I'm guilty for assuming everything would be cheaper and they are probably guilty of assuming I am a tourist and have expendable cash. The Aussies that came in after us also settled on the buffet, and they seemed a bit disappointed - I wonder what the reaction was when the bill came.

Food was average. Nothing bad. However the choice was limited for the price we paid. Will not go again due to price/(choice + quality) ratio. $17 for buffet with few items???

Looking to try Indian food for the first time, i was in search of a buffet restaurant so i can see what I was going to eat first. On yelp, we came across with 3 Indian Restaurants with better reviews but they only had Buffet for lunch. We finally ended up at Taj because they did offer buffet for dinner. It is a small, family oriented, excellent food taste, environment, and videos. Nice experience for my first encounter with Indian food.

I have been visiting this restaurant for more than 6 years and I have never had a bad experience. It has never been super busy when I have been there mid week but no problem. I guess when you have 4 Indian restaurants so close and hordes of British visitors you have to be better than average to stay in business. The food is much better than average even if the wine list is no better :)

This is a hidden gem along a strip filled with chains and quick pizza/burger joints. We came in here and saw Indians enjoying their meals with Bollywood videos on the TV, so we knew we were in for something authentic. The prices on the menu match the buffet, so why not stuff your face with everything? They bring naan to your table and the buffet has chick peas, lentils, butter chicken, chicken curry, veggie curry, homemade cheese in a sauce, and a few more things I didn't eat. Hands down, this stuff if homemade with some great tastes. The spice was just right - lots of flavor, but not fire breathing where yogurt sauce is needed. This was probably the best curry I have ever had before. I think I want to bring the chef back with me!

Awesome food...we were in Florida for a week and this is the place that gave us home cooked type taste. The servers are very friendly and the location is very convenient. The prices are higher than usual but i think its worth it. Although the interior of the restaurant does not seem like it be expensive.

We had a dinner buffet on 07/04/12 and the food was so sub standard and extremely overpriced.$17.99 for dinner buffet for few dishes is insane. The so called yoghurt was so sour and when I asked about it, the lady working there said "I am the only one complaining". Talk about rude customer service as well. Also the board over the rice said Basmati and I am pretty sure they serve only normal rice. The gulab jamoons were hard as rocks. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT THIS PLACE. I am sure there are other good restrauants nearby. We will never come back here again. The US health dept ought to check this place and shut it down for serving substandard food. I usually dont take the time to write reviews but I really had to for this place in order for others not to make the same mistake I did.

Taj Punjabi is a very reliable and tasty option for your Indian food needs. It's located in a strip mall right off International Drive near Wet 'n Wild. They have all your typical Indian favorites including dishes cooked in the Clay Oven. I've had the Cheese Cubes with creamy tomato and spices and it was wonderful. Perfect size and perfect taste. They also have all kinds of nans including cheese, garlic, potato, and whole wheat. Their curry is great and so is the Masala. The only downfall is that it's in a tourist area so the prices are higher than what I'm used to. They're not outrageous or anything. But the same dish I could get at Anmol or Kohinoor for about an average of $5 less per plate. Not a huge deal, but something definitely worth noting. I don't know if this place gets crowded, but the few times I've been there, it has been very quiet which is a huge plus for me sometimes. No wait and completely attentive service. I definitely highly recommend it if you are in the area, especially if you are visiting from out of town. The quiet atmosphere will be a nice break from the heavily crowded theme parks.

Never ever go to this place!!! Horrible experience in our trip to Orlando!! Super expensive!!! This is the 1st Indian Restaurant I have ever seen without having appetizers for the lunch buffet with the price of $16.99.. Price is NO exception for 5 year kids!!! How weird!!! When we come to taste part of the items( very few items they have), tasted like crap...not tasty at all... No positive things to say other than quietness ( only we four were there)..probably every one in that area already knew about that place.. Totally it was really disappointing experience to us..

This is the place, if you want amazing food, for an affordable price. I pass by the back door of this place, and the kitchen is kept in immaculate condition. I come for the buffet most of the time. It has a nice variety of selections, and has a lot of vegetarian dishes. I love the goat ! They are super friendly, and I suggest this place all the time.

good food if ordered from the menu, my advice is to order from the menu, the buffet stays there for a while, when we were there just 1 person used the buffet. selection is limited also in the buffet.
