I've eaten here twice because I am a glutton for punishment. I had the burrito once and the nachos the second time. The food is passable at best, what makes it worthy of 1 star is the searing stomach pain afterwards. The first time I thought it was just me so that's why I went back, but no...I don't feel like that after any other food, but have felt that way twice after eating here. On the plus side, if you're a Game of Thrones fan, it's a great way to feel like the Red Viper after his duel with the Mountain...so there's that.

love this place!! i'm a frequenter at tacos el rancho... authentic delicious mexican food for cheap (but their food does not reflect cheapness at all), with quality ingredients and chefs who know what they're doing. classic, delicious, good service. it's quick, too! highly recommend!

Not sure why I haven't been here before since it's right around the corner from where I work! I needed to take a short lunch today and decided to give this place a try and I'm so glad I did! Service here wasn't super friendly, but it definitely was quick! It's a small hole in the wall with about 10 tables to sit at and a small counter top with chairs as well where you can watch them make the food. There's Mexican music playing which is nice since I could see this place being deafly quiet without it! I decided on the quesadilla and aside from it getting a little soggy from the beef grease, it was probably the best quesadilla I've ever had! For $7.25 you get a large tortilla filled with cheese, your choice of meet and any topping you want. I opted for cheese, beef, tomatoes, cilantro and mild salsa. The cilantro is fresh, the beef is flavorful, and the tomatoes are awesomely seasoned...I just wanted to eat a pile of those by themselves! They offer the usual Mexican fare from tacos to burritos to enchiladas, etc., as well as sides such as chips and queso or salsa, rice, and beans. Aside from the usual fountain drinks, they also offer domestic and Mexican beer and margaritas! I'll definitely be back!

It's fairly new so it's clean. The food is ok as one can't really mess up Mexican food. Relatively cheap. Nachos are just under $8. Guac is extra. The service however is spotty at best. I work across the street and have been here multiple times at lunch and you either are quickly served and forgotten or just forgotten while you are standing in line at which point you are skipped over. (I walked out mid order at this point). And whatever you do, DO NOT get your nachos to go. They microwave it and you will have melted styrofoam as condiment.

Surprisingly delightful. This is not a typical burrito/taco bar. There aren't 100 different ingredients, but the essentials are there. The quality of ingredients was noticeable. The fresh jalapeños especially. I will go back.

Came here for dinner on Thursday night around 9pm with my boyfriend and his co-worker. It was the first time coming here for all of us. I ordered the taco salad with ground beef, my boyfriend ordered three soft tacos and his coworker, a supreme burrito with chicken. The guys behind the counter were friendly and polite to us. They prepared the food quickly and then we paid and sat down at a booth. My taco salad shell was excellent. Just the right crispiness and flavor. The meat though was flavorless and I had to put a lot of salsa on it. They also filled the bowl up with A LOT of lettuce (a cheap way to make it look like there was lots of food). But the most off-putting thing was that it wasn't even hot. Luke warm at best which was weird because my boyfriend had ground beef in his tacos and there was steam coming off them. Both he and his coworker said their food was good and none of us could finish the huge portions they give you. I like the fact that they are open so late (3am). I can see myself coming here again with friends because of this, but I've experienced better Mexican places that are in the same price range.

Open 9p - 3a on Sat nights. Sold. If you're in the area and looking for a quick lunch or late night, post drinking snack - check them out. They're not an authentic Mexican dining experience. But they're also not fast food either. They serve Mexican beer bottles to go along with the tacos, burritos, rice and bean platters, taco salads, etc. Seems divey from the street but it's pretty clean and tame with plenty of seating inside. Service was super friendly. It's cafeteria style so you'll have to do everything yourself after you order. I had the tacos platter w/ spicy beef and chicken. Good, not great. I should have opted for just chicken. The beef was overpowering with spices to the point of a headache. You have to watch out for places that go crazy with over spicing...easy way to eat spoiled meat and not even notice. Well...until it's on the way out that is.

Nacho fries! Best invention ever! The restaurant inside is dated but the people are friendly and food is best tex mex ive had downtown.

  • Pablo R.

Great little taco joint in the middle of downtown. The tacos are very authentic and full of flavor. I usually go for the ground beef or grilled chicken tacos. The stewed chicken can fall on the flat side and usually ends up being more onion/pepper than actual chicken. Another suggestion is the tamale platter.

Hidden gem of downtown orlando. 2taco platter$7 chicken. Yum! Open till 3am fri and sat

  • Joey D.

A newcomer to downtown dining, Tacos El Rancho purportes to offer more authenitc food than their downtown counterparts, but honestly does not deliver on that promise. One day for lunch I tried their tamales, which I found to be bland and flavorless. The beans that came with them weren't terrible, but they werent anything I really remember either. Cost wise, the place is definitly not a bargain, but it's not price gouging for downtown. I think I'd be willing to go back and try them one more time just due to their proximity to my office, but am not really anticipating being amazed.

  • Heather T.

Quick and delicious Mexican food! This place is fairly new and has already become a staple in my downtown lunch options. They offer a ton of variety with meats and toppings and have a delicious queso! Hopefully this place sticks around, unlike the very short lived restaurants before this place...

  • Justin M.

I had the asada (steak) burrito. The meat was dry chewy and tuff, no flavor. The portion size was ok but what good is a large portion size if it doesn't taste good. Staff was friendly and the place appeared clean. Most items cost extra such as guacamole, chips and salsa so for what you get they were overpriced compared to an establishment like Moes or Taco Bell

  • Alex P.

Best burrito downtown. Hands down. I got a veggie burrito, black beans add guac. It was incredible (and huge). So so much flavor in such a simple burrito. And the cilantro too! Ooooh ooooh. I'll definitely be making this my go-to late night spot. It is absolutely worth the walk.

  • Greg F.

We went to a concert downtown and needed to grab a bite beforehand. I figured if it is that close to the courthouse and still in business it must be good, it far surpassed my expectations. The food was very good, and with great choices, everything was made in front of us. We were surprised with the portions, the chimichanga and quesadilla were huge. We ordered margaritas, he mixed the liquor, not a mix, as we watched. Overall, it was really good food at a great value. I'd definitely go back.

    (5)
  • Erin W.

Very nice family owned/operated business. The food has good flavor. They have a few locations throughout Orlando, but if you're stuck in jury duty, they are conveniently located near the courthouse. I'd love to see them start a customer loyalty program.

  • Jeri A.

We were in Orlando this past weekend and this place happened to be in walking distance from our hotel so we thought we would give it a shot. I cannot resist tacos! Wow!! I was really impressed! The food was amazing and made to order right there while you watch. I had the chicken tacos and devoured them in seconds! They also had chicken tamales which are so hard to find!! So I grabbed one of those because I LOVE THEM! and it was delicious! The only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is because the margarita was just OK. It had a bit too much mix in it which made them too tangy to really enjoy. All in all I loved this place and will definitely visit again if I am in the area!

    (4)
  • Stephania K.

I live downtown Orlando and everytime I call them to make a to go order they say "oh sorry I don't have a car " everytime I call.. I love their food but quite frankly I think they're employees suck and lazy

Some work friends and I headed in here after a few too many trips to Gringos and loved it! They are friendly and their ingredients are fresh. The spicy beef, chopped chicken, and marinated pork (with pineapples!) are my favorite. Their queso is amazing too - none of that nacho cheese you'll get at Tijuana Flats. It's a great quick work lunch choice. And Taco Tuesdays = $2 tacos!

    (5)
  • Jay M.

Just came here for the first time. I had the 3 taco option. Got the grilled chicken on one and pulled chicken on other 2. Both crunchy. It was amazing. There is only a few Mexican spots downtown and this is one if the best. And definitude affordable. I will definitely come back to try something different

    (5)
  • David N.

The tacos here are excellent! The employees are friendly, despite it being very late at night. It's a great place for groups and there is easy ordering and customization.

    (5)
  • Ferris S.

An excellent taco spot on the edge of the downtown Orlando skyline. TDM has a large variety of meats and toppings to choose from. This establishment produces a mouth watering taco and is open late. What else do you need?

    (5)
  • Ed Z.

Good queso, good meats, good service, clean. My favorite food is Mex so maybe I'm prejudiced. But this is better than Moe's and those type places.

    (5)
  • Ricky A.

I got a single fish taco. WHAT. SAY SOMETHING. I'm thinking that I would have loved to eat more food but I had a show to play, pump the brakes.

    (4)
  • King L.

Really bad boring Mexican food on par quality wise with Taco Bell but with a more limited menu. Bland tasteless beef with scant other ingredients. A complete waste of your time. Fits right in on that gross depressing skid row of a block in vile downtown Orlando.

    (2)
  • Sean K.

Its ok when you can get someone who has half a brain to help you I wish the ingredients were fresher but its mexican food so its pretty hard to screw up. This place is very close to my office so its a good option for a quick lunch however I am not going there as often as I like because the people that work there are not trained very well, there is so much confusion its annoying. Its worth a visit but prepare for mom and pop type structure.

    (2)
  • Jed A.

It's just okay. The chips and queso were good. My girlfriend liked the guacamole and her cheese quesadilla. I had the tacos (two chicken and a steak). The meat didn't have much flavor and the steak was pretty tough. Overall, the tacos were bland.

Great food and service. The food is simple and delicious. The prices reflect that. Try the spicy beef!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
