Quaint little spot tucked away on the corner of Chickasaw and Curry Ford offering up some of the best street tacos at a great price. They're stuffed full of your choice meat ranging from the standards to tinga, pastor, ranchero, tilapia and tongue. The burrito is huge, like need to plan your day around it huge or bring someone to share it with. They have two other locations around town. One in downtown on Orange close to colonial and on Hoffner and the corner of Conway.

I like this place a lot. I've tried a number of the meats, which are good, but I always go back to the pastor tacos. The mild tomatillo sauce is awesome! It's got just a little kick to it that makes it perfect for the tacos. I'm interested to try the chimichanga soon.

Was craving some good Mexican so i searched Yelp for one close to me and reasonable.. We decided to give this one a try and so glad we did! They are very friendly, VERY clean inside (even the kitchen which is open... which is hard to find nowadays) We tried a couple different things and everything was amazing! Lots of flavor and a lot of food for a reasonable price.. Glad to finally have a new Mexican restaurant to go :-)

There is nothing better than having a business lunch with a friend at a new place in my opinion. Well up until now I have not even heard of Tacos El Rancho but I am really glad Shawn picked this place. Since I had never been here before I simply let him order what he thought I would like. I had a beef taco with along with the Gold Enchiladas with beef, 1/2 of a Steak Chimichanga and a 12oz bottle of Mexican Coke a Cola. I normally do not have a Coke but I was told that these are the ones made without High Fructose Corn Syrup and MY GOD... It actually tastes JUST LIKE what I used to drink as a little boy. That was a REAL Coke a Cola so I will NOW be looking for those in the store since I was told you can now buy them at Publix. I started with the Taco and the last time I had a double shell soft taco was when I was in San Diego a few years back at a place the locals were raving about in Old Town. I did not need to doctor it in any way so I would have to say it was a hit with me. Their black beans were the consistency of refried beans but actually had some flavor. The rice was actually quite flavorful and usually rice is just rice but they used some kind of stock in it that gave it a nice flavor. The enchilada was not what I was expecting but it was the flavor was right on point. It was now time to dive into that Chimichanga and it was one of the best I have had thus far. The steak was quite tender and not chewy like I was expecting and just like everything else... No doctoring was needed. I am glad we split it because the Chimichanga ALONE was a meal. I was told about a drink they have called Horchata and decided to try it as well. That was an experience in a cup right there. It tasted like a liquid Churro to be candid and it was one of the most unique drinks I have tasted thus far. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to go for lunch with some OFF THE CHAIN authentic Mexican food, check this place out. You get plastic silverware and Styrofoam cups and plates but the FOOD is what you eat. I will be coming back for Taco Tuesday!

When I asked for Salsa Verde, the person who took the order was confused... This is bit of concern because if you sell taco you should know what is salsa verde...

Best chorizo tacos I have ever had. The other tacos are good too but chorizo is the way to go. Freshest ingredients and the soft corn tortillas make a great combination. You must try the guacamole, it's excellent.

Ordered the gold carnita chimichanga to-go and it was awesomely delicious. Portion was huge. They do not skimp out on the toppings either, and something I haven't seen before was lots of cilantro on my chimichanga. I love cilantro! And the queso mmmmm that queso. I've been trying to find a Mexican place with great chimichangas and I think I've found it. Best chimichanga I've had in Orlando.

It's really good my go to for taco Tuesday, tacos, Margs, and beers are $2 each! Love it. Excellent for dine in and carry out. Although they did forget my salsa and extra lime on 2 separate occasions.

Decided to take my brother there for his birthday since it was close to his home and we both love Mexican food. We were the first ones there and were able to put our order in immediately. The guy at counter was very nice, however that unfortunately was the highlight of the meal. We ordered chips and salsa, two of their platters and churros. We did not get the chips and salsa before the meal, in fact when our meals arrived, I had to remind him that we had ordered them. They also had forgotten our churros as well. The chips were very stale and could almost bend (rubbery), the salsa was quite good though. The refried beans tasted canned, definitely not what I expected and the rice was dry, as was the beef and chicken which is surprising since they had just been made. There also was not much flavor to the food which was disappointing, we really like Mexican food, but found this meal very lacking in both flavor and quality. The churros eventually came out and we did enjoy those very much. Overall a disappointing experience that makes me think twice about coming here again in future, however I will probably try again as all restaurants can have an off day which I am hoping is all this one was.

Dont bother. This is white peoples version of Mexican. It sucked. The restaurant was clean and the people were very nice. Perfectly good chinese food next door. We had the shrimp fajitas and as soon as we finished eating our stomachs felt uneasy. The rice had peas in it.... Peas. Sloppy pale mushy rice. Just dont. Other reviewers must work there cuZ....

  • Ralph P.

Very good food, will surely be back often as it is near the house. They have an above average selection of meats that you can get in your choice of tacos, burritos even chimichingas. You order at the counter and the person that took our order was very friendly. She even let my wife try a sample of one of the meats to see if it was too spicy. Once you order you have a seat and someone brings your tray out but no real wait staff. It's in a strip mall so the decor is not very fancy and not a lot of seating.

  • Jeff K.

I ordered two tacos, one chicken and one ground beef. They have a list of ingredients at the counter that is included with the tacos, so I ordered both of my tacos with 'everything except tomatoes and onions'. The chicken taco tasted good but was just barely warm and the chicken was a bit too dry, like it had been sitting out. The ground beef taco had tomatoes on it for some reason, and in the center was actually cool -- not room temperature, actually cooler. Not enough time in the microwave, I guess.

Best Mexican food so far that I've tasted. Their flautas are great and the nachos and salsa are amazing and perfectly crunchy

The food here was amazing!!! We were driving back home to SC from Orlando & stopping there was a pleasant surprise! I've actually been talking about their flautas ever since! Great food, nice people you can't go wrong!!

  • Chris W.

We've been looking for good Mexican food for a while. The food here was amazing! I had the golden chimichanga---it was huge and so tasty! So much better than any chimi I've ever had at Amigos, Don Pablos, or Chevys. My husband had 3 pork tacos---also super tasty. Very authentic---fresh cilantros, chilis, cut tomatoes. He's Mexican and what sold him were the tortillas---tasted so much better than store-bought. Best part about this place is that it is similar in format to a Chinese take-out. You can eat in or take it out. That was a pleasant surprise----so we will be stopping there for amazing Mexican takeout each time we are in the mood.

Stopped in here while I was out working one day on a whim. Turned out to be a pretty good place. I was a little sketched out because it wasn't super busy when I walked in, but I'm glad I stayed. The food takes a little while to come out, so be patient, but it's a pretty decent meal.

Amazing food and drinks! Guacamole is great! Chimichanga was big enough for 2 and sooo delicious! Oh and the staff was soooo nice!

  • Phil C.

I love Mexican food, and always like trying new places to compare. My usual gauge is steak soft tacos. First bite I ended up with gristle, which I spit out. My next complaint is that the steak was cold. Cold like it was pre-cooked and sitting in a container waiting for an order. I will NOT be coming back to this place.

  • Benjamin A.

New employees don't know what they're selling, bad attitude of supervisor, very disappointed. Food is average, they almost charge you if you order an extra lemon.

I've been going to Tacos El Rancho for over a year now and it's still one of my favorite lunch spots. The food always taste fresh and they never have failed me in the customer service department. My personal favorite is the steak tacos but the taco salad is a close second. Everyone that I have either recommended to go there or I have taken have all been pleased as well... If you like fresh Mexican food you need to try them out !

Good tacos always buy on Tuesday. But they seem to be under staff I call and no answer I tried again and nothing tried a 3rd time and they picked up saying they can't do delivery because there to busy and that's why he didn't answer the phone. The is fairly good 3.5 but under staffed.

Just had a few tacos more of a traditional style of food which is great a bit slow but worth the wait. A nice variety and clean.

A great little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. The food was high quality and prepared promptly. They also did a great job of dealing with my family's food allergies while still making a tasty meal. My kids shared an order of street tacos and fries, which were delicious. I had a salad chock full of shredded beef, black beans, salsa and guacamole. It was refreshing to enjoy a meal that was still delicious even after taking all the "good" stuff off. Plus they have our favorite hot sauce, El Yucateca, available.

  • Chase T.

Went for lunch there because we noticed it was new on that side of town! We got guacamole & chips as a side, it was amazing! My partner got the taco salad and looked really fresh! I got the burrito with everyone on it. We both really enjoyed our meal & definitely plan on coming back!

Love this place! I have never had authentic Mexican food from Mexico, so of that is what you're looking for - try another review. I have eaten at a ton of Mexican restaurants around Orlando though and can say Tacos El Rancho is my favorite by far. I always get the Golden Chimichanga, it is a huge chimi stuffed with rice beans and meat, fried golden and then smothered in queso. I typically get ground beef but the chicken and pork are good as well. They have more traditional options like beef tongue, tinga, pastor, and chorizo as well. I have had the chorizo in tacos before and enjoyed it. The chimi once cooked is covered in six toppings, tomatoes, cilantro, sour cream, shredded cheese, onions, and hot (red) or medium salsa (green). These toppings go on every item - you just tell them what you want. On a side note I do like that they use diced yellow onions rather than julienne style onions. The red is my favorite but recently they added a ranchero salsa with grilled onions in it. I found it to be a nice medium between the hot and the mild salsa. The service is quick and always courteous. They had some coupons on their website last time I checked so definitely give it a look before coming for the first time!

  • Jennifer N.

AWFUL service at this place on 03/27. I had the shrimp quesadillas and asked for no onions. I asked if I can have another one and the guy told me the shrimp mix comes with onions??? Really??? He didn't want to make me another one. When he finally did, I said thank you and he did not even reply nor did he apologize. Very rude service and I will not bring my family back here. There are so many other Mexican places in Orlando you think they'd be nicer to their customers and want to keep business. Rather go to Giovanni's three doors down...

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
