My girlfriend and I decided to go to southern moon tonight because we were in the mood for BBQ and saw the great reviews on yelp and decided to give it a shot. Their in house made sodas were very unique and rather good, the setting was clean and had a very cozy feel about it. The a la carte way of serving was very nice and gave us the ability to try a few different things. The first thing that we noticed when we walked in was the strong smoky smell which was pleasant at first but resulted in both of us having a migraine by the end of the meal. We ordered the beef brisket, pulled beef short rib, and the pulled chicken, BBQ beans and mac & cheese. The beef brisket was very fatty, the beef short rib was very chewy and not very good, the chicken had good flavor but was dry and we found many bones which is unusual for pulled chicken, the mac& cheese was good but the BBQ beans were very bland. They do give you plenty of food and we had a lot of left overs not that we really wanted them. Unlike what everyone seems to be saying this is not the best BBQ in orlando, it doesn't even rank in my top 5.

Shocking experience. I ordered the Half Roast Chicken and Red Cabbage slaw. After waiting nearly two hours I finally was presented a Quarter Chicken and plain slaw. I had to argue with the servers asking where the thigh and drumstick was. I was also told they were out of red cabbage so this was the slaw I would get. I was not given the opportunity to replace my side and while they promoted that the sides were enough for two, I'm heading home to supplement my meal. I was amongst the first to order from our party and pretty much our whole group had finished their meals before mine was served. I asked the status of my meal and the server said "Don't you have it". Other members of my party told the waitress that they did not think I should have to pay for my meal. Our group host took the issue to the owner manager. He told her that I needed to leave my table to discuss the matter with him away from our group. The owner manager said they were wrong and since I ate my meal I had to pay for it. I then had to wait another 20 minutes for the check so I could pay and leave. Our group was the vast majority of customers this evening and several others were also unhappy with the food and service. I will not be back and neither will my friends. I don't expect a long tenure for this restaurant based on the management and poor experience for an expensive smokehouse meal.

They have been open now since Fathers Day and with each week I have been more impressed.

I had pretty high hopes for Southern Moon. The beers on tap were very good and the service was pretty good, but the food left a lot to be desired. I got brisket and it was very fatty and pretty rough. A friend got a sandwich he did not like, barely finishing half. I will be willing to give it a second try but first time dining there did not go well.

Drinks are phenomenal! The Drunken Pineapple is where it's at! The food is insane. Eat here. You will not be disappointed!

Spare ribs very good - sides ok , the homemade soda was crap - might get ribs to go but 4 rivers or bubbalou for me

One of the better efforts BBQ has seen in orlando in quite some time. While the meats were very good...they were not awesome. Sauce was top drawer. We ordered quite a bit of food for sampling, portions were large. Greens were tasty, cornbread was a little sweet for me as I'm not a big fan of cornbread that like cake. The pork Rhine nachos were delicious ( could have had more jalapeño ). Hand-crafted sodas are an inventive addition and well mixed. Bottom line..worth trying.

  • Doug P.

Homemade Sodas are not that good , my chicken was black and dry , potato salad wasn't good , baked beans were ok , corn bread was ok. BBQ sauce was horrible. Our food came out on a Orange Plastic tray with a paper liner . The prices for the sides were too high 4.99 to 5.99 and beer prices were high as well. Came out smelling like a smoke house. I will stick with Sonny's BBQ even if it's not Authentic BBQ according to Mike H.

As the name implies, the meat is very smokey and not to my taste but that's just me. If you like that, then you will probably enjoy it. Had the rib and chicken combo and the quality of the ribs was very good, again, just not the taste I personally enjoy. I did not eat my chicken but it appeared to be of good quality. The service was not stellar, and noticed that at several tables around us. They tried hard but seemed very inexperienced. Collards lacked taste to me altho they were otherwise cooked nicely. Maybe some hot sauce on the table would help. I did think the roasted corn was tasty but could have done without the presentation. What I just don't get is the need to pick out your Bbq sauce when you place your order - in other words random if you've never been - and then they bring you about 2 teaspoons of it. Need better iced tea. The atmosphere was good, wasn't too loud and had comfy booths.

First time here.. The sides were fabulous !! But the brisket fell short of taste.. Possibly under cooked..Not alot of flavor and poor meat cut... Sorta fatty.. Server ( suki) was great ..improve the food guys and you'll have a winner!!

We live walking distance from this place so we order there often. I would stick to individually buying your meats and sides and stay away from the sandwiches. It's a little pricey but you do get large portions. The staff is super friendly. The owner owns "Fork in the Road" which is a local food truck that served some yummy stuff at the food truck bazaar in the milk district. He told us how much effort goes into the food there which I really appreciated. I wish they were busier, it always seems kinda dead in there. Definitely worth giving a try.

Food is amazing! Service is friendly! Prices are on point! Don't miss out on this unassuming gem. Everything is made from scratch and it shows. I've been in several times and have enjoyed everything I've tried. Don't miss the fried green tomatoes and DEFINITELY don't skip over dessert; they're even better than the entrees.

I can't get enough of this place! My absolute favorites are the pulled chicken, collard greens, fried green tomatoes and the baked beans. I also really like the corn bread. It's got these little flex of jalapeno, that add just a little kick to them. I keep hearing that all the sauces are so good, but I haven't really tried them, because the chicken is so full of smokey flavor, I'm not wanting to drown it in sauce. My kids love the mac n cheese and also the waffle fries, which are a mix of regular and sweet potato. They also love the bbq pulled pork sandwich and the house made soda's. Really cool flavors, like watermelon, ginger and birch beer. So great to find a place that the whole family is excited about. We will most certainly be back :)

Great experience with very knowledgeable staff. The steak was delish and pulled pork was perfectly done. Everything on the menu is house made, including the sodas. We will definitely be back!

  • Jeffrey D.

We had the baby back ribs, good. As sides we had the greens ( very good) and the corn on the cob ( awesome) . The corn was the best have ever had!!! New business, please give them a try like we did... You won't be disappointed !!!

After nearly a week of anticipating a real smokehouse experience, my family and I finally had a chance to eat at the new Southern Moon Smokehouse. In short, it was delicious. And by "it" I mean all of it! (If you want to read more, here goes the full review). Contributing to the unique offerings of Southern Moon, a changing a la carte chalk board menu means you don't have to narrow your choice to one dish. The menu offers a little of everything with 3 ways to choose your protein: pulled, sliced, or on the bone, all available by the quarter pound with the exception of the ribs (half rack only). We chose 5 proteins at an average of $2 per pound (chicken, jack fruit, brisket, pulled pork shoulder, skin-on pork belly), all a great value. Think about it, the meat has been brined, smoked, seasoned, seared and sometimes all of those. I could have eaten the pulled chicken all night alone; it was amazingly tender with layers of flavor from the brine to the gentle smokiness, A MUST TRY! There are 5 sauces to choose from, all on the side so feel free to order them all, we did! The a la carte sides, "Fixins" are also really fun to experiment with. I strongly suggest you get a "Fixin'" while you wait on your main meal. We ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer and it worked out perfectly with the timing of our dinner. They were what all the others Yelpers said, breaded perfectly, seasoned perfectly with the most incredible dipping sauce. Other "Fixins" we enjoyed were the Mac 'n Cheese, Jalapeno Cornbread with honey butter, and Baked Beans. My husband agreed with everyone who wrote before, these were among the best baked beans he has ever had. If you don't want to order a la carte, you can choose from a number of yummy sandwiches. I ate the smoked chicken salad sandwich from Chef Bryce's food truck, Fork In the Road and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. Can you tell how much I loved the chicken? Another highlight that can't be left out is the drink offerings. I can't say enough about the house-made sodas and infused liquors. This time I enjoyed the spiced Margarita made with an infused tequila topped with spiced salt rim. There are infused bourbons, gins and more so the experimenting is endless. The Cream Soda is all it is cracked up to be. I personally have never had anything quite like it. It was light, sweet, with speckles of vanilla bean happily floating in my reminiscent mason jar. It was comforting and delicious. My 6-year old reluctantly shared 2 guilt free glasses, it was naturally caffeine-free and in general, crap free. If I could have bought a liter to take with me, I would be having a glass as I write this review. Coming soon? It is important to leave something undone when you experience a place you really enjoy. That being said, I understand that the dessert menu is being reviewed, happily added to my "undone list". We will go back for the Pork Nachos, Ribs, and the rest of the Fixins too. GO THERE, TRY A SAMPLING OF A LOT, GO BACK. This place is going to grow into an Orlando must do. For me and my family, it already is.

I hate to report this, but this was a waste of time and money. I ordered the pulled pork platter. I chose baked beans and mac and cheese for my sides. The pork was so salty I couldn't even eat it. I didn't get much smoke flavor either. The beans and the mac and cheese were neither good nor bad..just sorta bland. My husband got the brisket with beans and slaw. We're pretty sure the cut of beef they used wasn't right. It was larger than normal and had a large fat cap on the top. It was dry and tough. The slaw was terrible. I think they forgot to add the dressing. Unfortunately we won't be back.

Just had a great dinner at Southern Moon Steakhouse. We live super close but had never been before tonight when we decided to try it out. It was almost completely empty, and I don't know why. The decor was pretty trendy, lots of chalkboard and metal siding. Our meals were delicious. They have a big selection of sandwiches. I had an avocado tomato sandwich which was delicious and very fresh. My fiance got a mac n cheese sandwich! It sounds ridiculous but it was made with Gouda and was so gooda! The brisket and BBQ sauce was also very pleasing!

This place is okay. While I enjoyed my BLFGT sandwich (made with pork belly and fried green tomatoes), the rest of the experience was a bit underwhelming. When the waitress delivered our drinks, my boyfriend spotted a big black dot drifting in the center of his cocktail... a fly. And his brisket was more than 50% fat... it should have been trimmed. Most of his food ended up in the trash since it was basically inedible. I really wanted to love this place. I'd come back for a to-go BLFGT, but that's probably it.

My wife and I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now. We were headed to Clemons for produce and Southern Moon is almost across the street. Sadly, our experience was really just awful. I respect, and know personally, some of the yelp reviewers who gave four stars when the place first opened but things have apparently changed. First off, our service was fine. The servers were courteous and efficient. However, it took quite a while between ordering and the food being delivered considering BBQ places usually just plate up the food since it is cooked already. Unfortunately, the service was the highlight of our visit. I ordered the brisket. What came out were two large planks of roast beef, there is no way this came off of a brisket cut roast. There was a large fat and gristle layer running down the middle of each plank of beef. I've never seen a brisket that looked like this before, it is possible it was just sliced improperly, but I've cut brisket myself many times and I can't imagine how one could be cut in such a way. Besides the fat and gristle, the color of the beef was grey, it was tough, and it didn't taste very good. The beans were sort of ok but the slaw had either no dressing or very little dressing as it tasted like just some cabbage. My wife's pulled pork was too salty to eat and it had almost no smoked flavor. Her mac and cheese was ok. Interestingly, we left our plates almost completely full and when we turned down to-go boxes I expected the sever to ask why we didn't eat our food, but nope. Maybe we just caught them on an off day, but we won't return to find out. Pity.

Brunch was delightful! They serve brunch from open to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant is beautiful and of course has the most amazing bbq smell in the air! I ordered an iced tea and the smokehouse hash. The smokehouse hash comes with crispy potatoes, onion, your choice of meat and topped with a fried egg. I went with the pulled pork which was really good. The potatoes were fried perfectly. They had a wonderful crispy exterior and the center was cooked perfectly. The egg was over done so I ordered a replacement since I love a gooey yoke! I didn't specify how I wanted the egg fried and the server didn't ask so I made the mistake of assuming it wouldn't be over done. My husband ordered a quarter pound of brisket, beef short ribs and pork belly. The pork belly was my favorite. Crispy and delicious. I also really liked the brisket but wasn't a big fan of the short ribs. I found them dry. He also ordered a side of the braised greens which were also really good and have pork belly in the greens! I didn't order any cocktails on this visit but they make their own sodas and the cocktail list sounds great! Service was attentive and friendly.

Don't let the emptiness fool you. This place has great food! The best part is that many of the items can be ordered by weight. So it's perfect for someone like me who likes having lots of things at once. And for every item you order, you can try one of their signature sauces. Try them all on your first visit if you can. The chicken and pulled pork were very good. Standard, but good. The short rib was okay. It tasted like it may have been made the day before. The brisket, however, is amazing! It's a must have for every time I visit from now on. The side items may seem pricey, but know that they are large enough for two to share. SMS also has old fashioned sodas. They don't have any carbonation (at least mine didn't), but the flavors are interesting. I didn't care for the root beer, but my wife thought it was good. Also, they don't have Coke, Pepsi, etc, so be aware in case that's important to you. Overall we were very pleased, and we'll be back!

I want to go again. Soon. I came here for dinner and ordered a little bit of food since I wasn't too hungry. That little bit of food came out to be a LOT of food because the portions were so huge! They have sodas there. But not just Coke or Sprite or something regular. They don't sell those. They have hand crafted sodas. Which was so delicious! I ordered a side of corn... which came out as two ears of corn each of them served in a mason jar with their amazing butter. The butter is what makes it amazing. I wanted to drink it afterwards because it was so good! (No worries, I didn't. That'd be very unhealthy lol) My pulled pork was great and the sauces that came on the side was wonderful too. Service was good. The server seemed stressed and hurried, but she got things done.

Located at the corner of Curry Ford and Crystal Lake in the Winn Dixie plaza, which is just next door. The restaurant is very open, clean and southern contemporary feel with large booths, wood flooring and large chalkboards mounted on the walls, displaying the menu. It was my first visit and our server Rachel, was very nice and explained that it was the first week the restaurant was open and answered a lot of questions. We enjoyed several of the house made sodas, so be sure to check those out. There are also several house infused liquors so if you enjoy a festive cocktail try the Southern Belle or the one with their house made cinnamon whisky. There will be a brewery soon, but no ETA, aside from sometime later this year. I was told the meat is smoked over several different kinds of wood and when served it had a nice spice rub. (No sauce basting!) Sauces representing the Carolina's, TX, KC, AL were present and I liked all of the sauces I tried. (AL isn't my thing, didn't try!) If you like spicy, go for the Carolina Spicy. Yum! I enjoyed the KC sauce and TX a lot for milder, sweeter options. Our group ordered the biscuits and the corn bread, which was the better of the two options. The biscuits were fine, but without a jam or something they were a bit heavy. (The accompanying honey butter was not very sweet and made with unsalted butter) I understand there is jam in the future, so I'll be happy to check that out on a future visit. The cornbread was moist and had a nice flavor, was especially tasty when enjoyed with the BBQ sauces during the meal. Fried Green Tomatoes were tasty, hearty cornbread coating that didn't overpower the tomatoes. The batch we had- the tomatoes were a great thickness and a bit mild in green tomato taste. The accompanying sauce was yummy. I enjoyed the Fried green tomato sandwich, the toasted bread was a hearty multigrain and I enjoyed the Carolina BBQ sauce with the meal. It was a filling sandwich, filled with fried green tomatoes and avocado. I ordered potato salad as my included side, it had several different kinds of potatoes, including sweet, which was nice. The mayo dressing wasn't too heavy and tasted like a traditional, southern potato salad. I had a bite of a friends Mac & Cheese, which had nice flavor in the cheese sauce and I'd try again in the future to form a more complete opinion. The side portion was definitely enough for a meal if you ate a starter, enough for kids to share or 3 adults could order a few sides "family style" to share. Both the Baby back ribs and the St. Louis ribs were meaty and tender and the pulled pork was also a table favorite. A friend ordered the Brisket and said it was tender and moist, so I'm sure hubby will be enjoying that on a future visit. I ordered a 1/4 of the jackfruit, which was the veggie option. You pick the sauce, so I went with the hot Carolina sauce, it was spicy and yummy. I would have liked that concoction on a sandwich with some cheese. Smoked fish is coming soon, as they add specials and such to their menu. I have no idea about desserts, because I left very full. I'll be back!

Southern Moon BBQ just opened This Past Sunday so I stopped off today to give them a try. They are located on Curry Ford and Crystal Lake next to Winn Dixie and Rogue Pub. Kicked things off with a drink, Lemonade Tea with Moonshine and Peach Schnapps. The large chalkboard menu is on a couple walls, no paper menu yet. Started off with the buffalo wings, the ranch was buttermilk and unique, Wings were good but nothing I haven't had before. Still good wings are hard to come by. Ordered a variety of the BBQ'ed meats which you can order by the 1/4 pound or more. wanted to try all the red meats, so got the St. Louis Ribs, Pork Shoulder and Brisket. Side of Mac & Cheese, better than average. Kinda expensive at $5.99 but a very generous portion. Pretty good, better than average. Would like to see a version with some pork in it. St. Louis ribs were my favorite thing, they had a nice seasoning and a light smoke flavor which was just right. They give you a variety of sauces if you request them, they have Texas Q style which is Smokey with I believe a Chipotle pepper flavor. Kansas City sauce(my fav) it was thin and a little sweet, Alabama White sauce, Mustard sauce & a Spicy One. They are making the sauces themselves which is outstanding. Interior was a bit desolate but still comfortable and cozy, can't judge or expect much in their first week they are still getting things situated I'm sure. Our server was awesome, Booth was comfy, restroom was spotless. There hasn't been any good BBQ places in the Conway area for a long time so I think and hope they will do quite well. Menu has a lot more things that I didn't try lots of interesting desserts too. If you order typically I'd say check will average $20-$25 a person. Not counting alcohol.

Okay, I got take out from here tonight and was thoroughly disappointed by the food and even more so by the packaging. So we ordered "boneless beef short ribs" (1/2 pound), a rack of baby back ribs, collard greens, cornbread and mac n' cheese. The supposed short ribs were simply smoked chuck roast, which was mostly tough and dry. It did have an okay bark and an okay smoke flavor but nothing great. The baby back ribs were very bland and very dry. The meat on the ribs was not tough, but not really tender either. The cornbread was bland kind of dry. The mac n' cheese was extremely bland with little cheese or any other flavor to speak of. The greens were cooked okay but also rather bland. As some other folks have pointed out, with Four Rivers, Bubbalou's, Keller's and even Sonny's around I don't know how this place could last long. I particularly don't understand the number of good reviews on here. Anyway, the worst thing was that they package their to go portion of the greens in a stupid plastic container that, even though I only live five minutes away, managed to leak collard green juice all over the floor of my car, and ultimately, in my driveway, stairs and the entryway to my house. Shame about this place, the people seem nice enough, but the food and to go packaging are pretty awful. I doubt we will go back here.

Just go, We went for brunch, and we left wondering why on earth we had never stopped in before. I got grits with pork, and they were seriously among the creamiest and most delicious grits I have ever eaten. And I have eaten A LOT of grits. The pork, also fantastic, and I left with a full second meal. It was pretty empty when we were there, and I hope it is just because it was an off time. Admittedly, the strip mall location is a little odd, and it is kind of tucked away. Regardless, people should be lined up for this delicious BBQ. Seriously! JUST GO!

I've been meaning to check this place out for awhile. It's tucked away next to a Winn Dixie, but don't miss it. We tried the baby back ribs, pork belly, pulled pork and beef brisket. My favorite was the baby back ribs. The meat fell off the bone and the rub seasoning was fantastic. I like the fact that I can order the meat by itself so we could sample each. The pulled pork and brisket were incredible too. The server was very attentive and brought out our food quickly.

4 Rivers. Cecil's. Bubbalou's. Porkies. Harry & Larry's. Fat Boys. These are the other BBQ joints in and around Orlando that offer so much more than Southern Moon. I am always excited to try a new BBQ joint. The menu board at Southern Moon was packed with tasty options, and I particularly like the fact that you can order everything a la carte, like meat by the 1/4 pound. Sadly, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment. Out of the 6 meats we ordered, only 2 were decent. The pork belly was the highlight, and the sliced brisket was OK. The chicken, short ribs, and shoulder were dry and flavorless. No amount of so-so BBQ sauce could save them. You know how chefs sometime experiment, and offer up a creation off the beaten path? That's what the jackfruit was. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as BBQ at all. They try to pass it off as a meat alternative, but it's just terrible. The sides fared about the same: meh. The mac & cheese was cheesy but flavorless, as were the greens. The corn came served upright in a mason jar, and was OK, and the beans were good. Overall, there were one or two things that were OK, but I don't plan on returning. The food needs much more work before Southern Moon can expect to be a real player in the local BBQ scene.

Really enjoyed my experience. The menu looks great and the chef has some awesome creations I hope to try again. The others day special with lamb burger will bring me back. The sauces are all home made and the selection of sides is really top notch. Definitely not a low end bbq place Try it!

First trip I probably went overboard... but had the Pork Belly (cut like giant pieces of bacon..mmm), macaroni and cheese, corn bread with honey butter, and corn on the cob. I have a tomato allergy, so the Carolina Gold BBQ sauce was a VERY welcome option and tasted great - not too sweet or spicy. ALL of it was great, but the corn on the cob is definitely the most unique - it's served in a mason jar with melted butter and herbs. My drink was pricey ($10) and made strong but tasted so-so, however the standard I always hold cocktails to is The Courtesy or Cask & Larder, so I may be being too harsh considering how high the bar is set. Our server was personable, friendly, and attentive... no complaints there. I'll be going back!

Went with a few other YELPERS that have already been here for lunch. It just opened very recently of this writing. My 1st thought was you are replacing a BBQ place with another BBQ place or Smokehouse! Well these folks at least this go round seem to have it right as of the opening. They did update the inside a bit it doesn't look so country as before. Still has a full service bar located in the front. For the menu they have everything listed on these huge wall mounted chalkboards. Since I was with 5 other YELPERS we were able to kind of mix and match on the order and try some various things. Sweet Tea was spot on and not too much of that sugar taste. Appetizer was the Fried Green Tomatoes and they were good, not greasy or too much coating. We were also served Biscuits and Jalapeno muffins. I ordered the St. Louis ribs or has my late grandfather Chuck "The Ribman" G use to say St. Louie ribs and Mac N Cheese for my meal. Ribs were pretty much falling off the bone with little to no pull. They had a great smokie flavor and rub. I tried several of the sauces which they have about 6 sauces sort of by region for BBQ. So you have Texas, Carolina, Bama, Kansas City etc. all made in house. Mac N Cheese was okay on this go round I will try it again as I was told by one of my lunch companions that had already been there that it didn't look the same as his from a days ago. The big board has lots of menu choices and options for Pork, Brisket, Chicken, Sides and also a special dish for the non meat eaters that venture into a BBQ Smokehouse to not eat meat. The owner popped by and gave us some details on the food one of the interesting facts for me was he even smokes the water before boiling and some of the spices that he uses to prepare the food. Bar has a couple different mason jar style drink choices and it was my understanding craft beer will be made onsite by Dec. The also had a very tasty selection of home made Root Beer, Birch Beer, Citrus and Ginger, Cola, and Cream Soda. I am a Root Beer snob of sorts and well say it and the Cream Soda were my two favorites and will be back in the future for both of those. Over all very courteous staff especially when you have that many YELPERS in on a 1st visit the week you open. A great replacement for a previously not great BBQ place.

I give up. I thought SM was improving but they just can't seem to get it together. The final straw came in the form of a take-out order where the person on the phone repeatedly assured me what I wanted to order wasn't something they could provide ... Even though I'd ordered it four times previously. This was after several more visits consisting of wildly varying food quality and lackluster service. I won't be back.

My first time at this restuarant I was not significantly wowed...The food was mediocre...I ordered the brisket sandwhich with a side of mac and cheese and smoked corn on the cob. The brisket was a little fatty for me but I dont like fatty meat. The flavor was good...The mac and cheese was surprisingly ok...not nothing I would run back to go get but it got me full. As for the smoked corn on the cobb...it was cute because it is served in a mason jar but you get exactly what you order a smoky piece of corn...with a butter sauce that you couldnt really taste because it was at the bottom on the glass....I believe I went on a tuesday night and the place was dead....not sure what that means. The wait staff were super friendly and helpful when assisting with explaining the menu. i did get a chance to taste the brisket sandwich with fried mac and cheese....ummmm no! amazing concept but the fried mac and cheese patty didnt have any flavor. I am willing to take another stab at this place one day...and try something different but .....not in a rush...HA...oh btw...I almost forgot about my bathroom review ....the bathroom seemed as thought it was under construction for some reason....I went in and the stalls were not the cleanest...neither was the sink. The paper towel machine was broken ....so ...in other words bring your hand sanitizer. *I check out the bathrooms often because I like to wash my hands before I eat...just in case someone was wondering if I had a crazy fetish or something....NO FETISH OR MENTAL Problems....I just like to eat with clean hands :)*******

Pulled pork with their house slaw on top. HUGE side of beans with it. I had the Carolina sauce on the sandwich. Has some bite so if you don't like it hot don't order it. The beans had some bite to them also, you have been warned. I went at lunch time today. Place was empty when I got there. People were starting to come in by the time I left. Another warning, if you don't like the smell of wood smoke don't come in here!

Decided to give this local bbq place a try despite a few bad reviews. Needless to say, I was pretty letdown. I ordered a 1/2 lb of brisket and 80% of it was inedible fat. The parts I could weren't anything noteworthy so it was a pretty defeating process. The Mac n Cheese was pretty bland as well with no flavor, making my experience my last at this establishment.

Great smoke pulled pork BBQ with a twist. Nachos on pork rinds with brisket. Four could share. Corn pancakes with pulled pork topping and whiskey flavored syrup. Good slaw and black-eye pea salad great pork n beans. They use no corn syrup on preps which is nice.

While the food was outstanding and the staff super friendly, the kitchen might need help. We eat everything we ordered with no take away bag needed, it was all gone. Our plates though took more time than we expected and when it did it did come it was peace milled out slowly. Give this place a chance. I know I will be back.

In a city jam - packed with BBQ restaurants (good, bad, and mediocre), Southern Moon Smokehouse stands out. From the outside, it's a classic hole in the wall, tucked away in a Curry Ford Rd shopping plaza that you could be forgiven for overlooking. I discovered it only because of conversations with a foodie friend, who insisted that we had to visit. Inside, though? It's a lovely and usually quiet restaurant -- though I hope that changes as people hear about it. It deserves the popularity of a 4Rivers or a Bubbalou's. The service is friendly (especially if you have the amazing Tony helping you) and the atmosphere is more pleasantly minimalistic than the Western/Southern kitsch you see elsewhere. Some of their house sodas can seem a little odd at first but I highly recommend trying the citrus or orange flavors. The food is fantastic. The meat doesn't actually need any sauces to help it taste better, but all the sauces are great too. On your first visit, it's a good idea to order a variety-- you can get a small amount of multiple types of meat to effectively create your own sampler platter. It's worth returning to try the sandwiches too...I loved the grilled mac n cheese sandwich with brisket. The special pork rind nachos were fantastic too, fresh made so they are even worth trying if you don't think you like pork rinds. Take the time to go find the Southern Moon on a hungry stomach. You won't regret it!

This was our second visit to Southern Moon. My husband ordered the fried pickles. they were perfect, excellent breading, cooked to perfection. I did slice mine as it was hot. My husband had the O burger, you'd have to see it to believe it. =). I had a pork belly and fried green tomato sandwich and it was great. The collards are good too, I could eat a whole plate of them. Delicious! Oh, and the staff are pretty cool too.

I am enjoying this place more and more. The meats are fantastic, as are all the sides I have tried. I really like the Carolina Gold and Kansas City Sauces, and the homemade catsup is excellent. We have gotten really good service here also.

Once again...Chef Bryce took it over the top! The pulled pork sandwich I had for lunch had so much meat, I needed another set of buns!! I always get my money's worth plus more here!!! I'm a customer for life now.

Since my first review, the menu was updated, and it's a huge improvement! Food quality is awesome, staff is always super friendly, makes you feel like family. Thank you for listening to my opinion and changing things up!

Don't listen to the negative reviews, this is a great BBQ spot ! We went for a Thursday night dinner, was a great experience.. Everything on the menu is a amazing ! I love the family style servings witch really let's you have a chance to try everything. The portion sizes are great, all had a great taste. It was hard not to stop picking at the leftovers when I could barley eat anymore :) Def are going back and bring my family with me :) Home made soda rocks :)

Brice (the owner) knows what he's doing! We had the pork skin nachos (house made pork rinds with beef brisket chili and fixings) as an appetizer on both visits. Tony (server) goes way above and beyond. He knows the menu back and front! The atmosphere it's what you'd expect a smokehouse to be: wooden tables with menus hand written on a chalkboard and in print. The snooker aroma hits you HARD when you walk in. The food: Everything is house made from the sauces to the meats to the sodas. I was halfway through eating the meats when I remembered the barbecue sauces. That speaks A LOT about their style. I smell like smoked bbq and I don't want to shower! We've been there twice in 3 days. Rumor is they're working on a bacon chocolate ice cream, so.... yea!

Where should I start? The decor, the helpful server (Tony), the fresh and in house made items...this contributed to my great 1st experience at this restaurant. I definitely have a new regular location to go to and bring others! Today's lunch of pulled pork, mac and cheese, greens, and peach tea made with moonshine (yes moonshine) pulled my taste buds over the edge! I wanted BBQ on a Sunday, and I got it! The capper was the housemade dessert: carrot cake. You could tell the authentic taste was present all the way through the meal. I will again come to this location for lunch, dinner, even breakfast if they were open. MY NEW HANGOUT SPOT!

Quick take: Very good BBQ, decent sides, plan on sharing a tray of food with friends. We went here for lunch over the weekend and were very happy with our choice. This place evolved from a food truck and it shows with the ordering process. Rather than a menu given to the table, they have their items written up on a chalk board. I'd imagine some spots in the restaurant would make this very inconvenient. For us, it wasn't a problem. They do not offer traditional combo plates. You order the meats by the quarter pound and the sides are a la carte. They have sandwiches and I think those may include a side, but we didn't try that so can't say for sure. We ordered some meat to share: pulled pork, pork belly, and brisket. Along with the meat we got their kansas city, carolina hot, and texas sauces. I liked the carolina hot the best. Good vinegary tang. The pork belly and brisket were awesome, among the best I've had in town. The pulled pork was pretty good, had a few fatty chunks in there which was unfortunate. For sides we ordered collard greens and mac 'n cheese. Both were very good. We sampled some of their house made sodas (no coke or pepsi products available here) and I quite enjoyed the birch beer I had. Finally, we had to try some bread pudding. Most places pack that into a ramekin and serve it. Southern Moon served a gigantic mountain of bread pudding with a huge topping of merengue. It was tasty, but yeah, expect a huge portion. Overall we'd definitely be back. If I had any suggestions it would be to go ahead and print some menus for people to use at their table and to design a few combo plates. I heard several customers confused about how to best order food and some combo plates would probably alleviate that issue and help introduce new customers to what they have to offer. Think of every item as family style and order enough for the table and you'll enjoy it.

Visited around 9 on a Saturday night. The place was empty and felt a little too quiet but the service was decent. I ordered the pulled pork with Mac and cheese and my fiancé ordered the baby back ribs with Texas toast. The pork was good and the Carolina Gold sauce was one of the better BBQ sauces I've had. The mac and cheese was a notch above most restaurants, not the best, but cheesy and very tasty with an added pinch of pepper. Texas toast was perfect with just enough butter and crispiness. Ribs were a little dry. Overall we will definitely return--the only downside was they were out of pork belly which is what we really wanted to try.

Pros: The pulled pork was excellent (better than 4 Rivers). And their home made cream soda tasted like heaven. They have a good selection of craft beers, however I would rather have the cream soda than any beer, it was that good. I loved the sauces. The Bama Q sauce is a white sauce that was delicious. Service was great! The ribs were good. Cons: No menu, we had to view everything on a chalk board. The fried green tomatoes were soggy - which is what happens when you deep fry them- you gotta pan fry! So many restaurants mess that up. The brisket was fatty. Baked beans weren't bad, just nothing special. I wasn't a big fan of the root beer, but maybe that was because I was comparing it to the cream soda. I will surely come back and try more.

I was really looking forward to having a new BBQ spot in the area but this one disappointed on all levels. The service was slow. The menu is written on a board so you have to twist your neck around if you're in an awkward spot to read it. The service & the menu gimmick could have been forgiven if the food was great but unfortunately it didn't live up to the other Yelp reviews. We tried the ribs, baked beans, cole slaw & fried green tomatoes. The ribs came out cold. We complained & expected to receive a new slab but instead were brought the same ribs recooked. The baked beans tasted like canned Bush's beans but were ok. The cole slaw was all purple cabbage and the blandest I've ever had. The best thing we had were the fried green tomatoes which were covered in a simple batter and had a tasty sauce on the side. After waiting more than 10 minutes, the manager eventually came over to apologize and bring a fresh hot rack of ribs. The ribs were decent but no better than the ol' standbys in town. It's too bad because I'd like to give the new startup the business but unless they get it together we won't be back.

Great choices! Baked Beans were the best that I have had in a while. Try the fried green tomatoes. Everything is al la carte. We had the baby back ribs, chopped chicken, and brisket. For sides we had the tomatoes, baked beans, macaroni and cheese and biscuits. Everything was great. Now for dessert. ...

Some of the best BBQ in Orlando. Great prices on the meats and the sides are big enough for two easily. The service was slow at first but once we got our drinks and food ordered, the food came quickly. We had the sliced brisket, baked beans, corn bread, chicken salad sandwich and fries shared between two people. Tons of food. Great portions. The KC BBQ and TX BBQ sauces were a little lackluster but the white Carolina sauce was great. The speciality sodas are made in house and were very good. A little unique but in a good way. Need to come back for sure.

3.5 stars for lunch. I gave them 4 stars because I feel that they need another chance for dinner to see if they shine or not. Place looks nice (well new anyhow). They have printed paper menus for those that don't want to turn to read the chalkboard menus on the wall. The food is modern bbq. Bold flavors. I feel they go a little to heavy on the seasoning and the sauces are powerful. I had a pulled pork sandwich for lunch with bbq beans. The beans were a little odd (not in a bad way) perhaps to much molasses and a spicy paprikaish taste. I asked what they put in them and was told it was secret. I will come back to try some basic BBQ dishes. Perhaps a slab of ribs or some brisket. The server was nice.. but a little annoying. One of those guys that talks to much when you just wanna have a simple business lunch and have a conversation with your mate.

Amazing! To the person who said that the beans taste like bush's, you're nuts. The pork has the perfect amount of fat, the St. Louis ribs are amazing. Best BBQ I've had in blandlando, er... I mean Orlando.

Delicious, wonderful and excellent BBQ. Very tender and flavorful meat. I have had the pulled pork shoulder, pulled chicken, brisket and pork belly. All are amazing but my favorite was definitely the pork belly, try it! I've also had the mac n cheese, greens and two potato salad, all flavorful and excellent. They serve homemade sodas, cocktail infusions and beer on tap. Great selection overall. You order meat by the quarter pound which I actually enjoyed because it allowed me to try such a wide selection of meats. I then shared sides with my boyfriend, it was a fun set up. Don't be afraid of the ordering system, embrace it. Yes, no physical menus on the table but there are huge menus on the wall in several strategic locations. It's supposed to be casual and it doesn't bother me one bit. All in all, friendly staff, great drink and absolutely mouth watering BBQ.

My husband and I visited Southern Moon last night for dinner when he was craving ribs. We usually go to 4 Rivers and enjoy their BBQ quite a bit, but we thought we'd try something new for a change. Well, the idea of Southern Moon is good but the execution is just average; I don't know that we'll be back. The drinks are really unique, I will give them that. There were quite a few that our server rattled off (I wish they were listed on the menu or on the wall, honestly) and we tried many over the course of the evening. If you order a soda, you get two free refills and you can switch it up. So, we ended up trying cream soda (the best, with actual vanilla bean flecks in it), ginger beer (very zippy), citrus (REALLY citrusy, like not messing around--this would be fantastic as a drink mixer), root beer (oddly flavored, not like any other handcrafted root beer I've ever tried), and cola (also a bit citrusy). I'd recommend the cream soda as the best and if you like citrus flavors, try that one. They're served in small mason jars with handles and crushed ice. We ordered buffalo wings to start: They were your average wings. The sauce wasn't spicy and the dipping sauce was unusual, a dill-based white sauce rather than blue cheese. Maybe their take on ranch? It wasn't bad but it was unusual. The barbecue? Well, I prefer wet/sauced BBQ and this is dry-rubbed with the sauce on the side. Not what I prefer, but ok. We both got a half-rack of St. Louis style ribs and tried several sauces. All of them were all right. The mayo-based one was unique but tasted like mayo and vinegar mixed. One was very thick and tomato-paste based--and tasted more like pasta sauce than BBQ. The ribs were nicely seasoned and not overly fatty; they fell off the bone and were tender. Sides: We each got beans (okay, but had many pieces of fatty meat in them) and mac and cheese (not cheesy at all, mostly just pasta and some greasiness). Texas toast on the side was hot, garlicky, and fresh. We did dessert and were offered a series of "interesting" choices, from a chocolate-and-blueberry bread pudding to a pomegranate or mandarin orange whoopie pie. We went with the chocolate lava cake, said to be served with creme anglaise, and a Rocky Road cake, a special of the evening. Well, the creme anglaise--and maybe the lava cake itself--had an orange note in it that overwhelmed the cake. I don't like orange and chocolate, and I would have appreciated knowing that it was infused or whatever so I could avoid it. The Rocky Road cake was pretty dense and heavy, with a solid amount of ganache. I don't know that I'd say it tasted like Rocky Road--I'm not really sure what it tasted like really. Overall, I feel like this is a place that's trying to be inventive and "new" American barbecue, thus the unusual dessert flavors, sauces, and drinks. But honestly, when I want barbecue, I want straightforward, familiar flavors. I want homestyle. I want handmade but I don't want unusual-for-the-sake-of-being-unusual. And for those reasons, I probably won't visit here again. Not when I have two 4 Rivers locations nearby that have standout ribs, bread pudding, and sides. Are they as "inventive"? Maybe not, but for a local barbecue joint, I think that's okay.

This place is so good I might have to take the bumper sticker off my car!! We stopped in for lunch to see what this place had to offer. We started off with nachos which were a little too wet for my liking but still delicious. Then came the main event.. I had the pulled chicken and my partner gave the ribs and chicken a try. There are not words to describe how amazing the BBQ was. With meat so good you almost don't want to get sides... but you should. . We had four sides to share and we could have made a meal just out of them... they are THAT good. Not to be out done by the food the service is seriously top notch as well . So please if you are in the mood for some life changing Q... do yourself the favor of coming here.

This place is now owned by new people. But, nothing has changed. The service was awful. Took my fiancee 25 minutes to get a beer. The waitress asked him THREE times what kind of beer he wanted. When our food came out they forgot half of our sides, and forgot my Fiancee's second round of beer. Food was decent. Collard greens were burnt, baked beans were ok, and coleslaw was so so. Chicken was okay as were the ribs. Prices were good. The BBQ sauces tasted awful - Like marinara sauce, not bbq sauce. They seriously need to change the sauces. We apparently got the Texas Q and the Kansas city Q and they tasted the same. Nothing seems to have changed with the new owners. So so food, so so service. Nothing special. Better off going to 4 Rivers or Ellie Lou's.

I recently tried the restaurant and was very pleasantly surprised. I has the combo platter with sliced smoked brisket, 1/4 smoked whole chicken, collard greens, and a smoked ear of corn. The brisket was tender and well smoked. The smoked chicken was the best I have ever had. It was smoked to perfection. Cooked all the way through to the bone, but still juicy and not tough. The collards were flavorful and the smoked corn was to die for. All in all I had a wonderful experience. The food was great, the help was friendly, and the bathrooms were clean. I will definitely be back for more.

When this place first opened it was great. It's a shame I can't say the same a few months later. They have a great menu with multiple options. The food however is the downfall. I ordered the pork which was so dry I couldn't eat it/ The brisket (I know brisket is fatty) but there was barely any meat at all, I had to give it to my dog because it wasn't edible/ the Mac and cheese was great. I can't believe this place became so bad so fast. At one point it was as good as 4rivers now it's an expensive meal for my dog

Love the bar. Awesome people. Pulled pork is good. Mac and cheese was terrible...Very bland, no cheese. Baked beans were too sweet with an odd taste. Brisket just OK. If they could get some truly southern sides they would really step it up.

I'm a very picky person. This food was amazing. We Did have a couple issues but when i called to let them know they handled it so professionally! Amazing place to order food. I love feeling like they actually care about their customers! Great job! I'll be back for sure! (This was my first time EVER eating here)

Went with Eric A. for lunch. Fairly disappointing. No brisket at 12:40 -- prime lunch time. No excuse for that, not when the place was mostly empty. Went for short ribs, Mac n cheese and cornbread, bama and KC BBQ sauces. All underwhelming. Ribs weren't juicy. KC sauce tasted like weird ketchup. Nothing like sweet BBQ sauce. Mac n cheese had no cheese taste. Instead, the overriding flavor was the paprika sprinkled on top. Cornbread was dense. And don't get me started on the flies buzzing about. Best part was our server, Tony. He was great!

This is THE spot for brisket. It melts in your mouth, and falls right apart. On the other hand, their side dishes are not the best. Only order the meat and cornbread and maybe the braised greens. When we arrived, the outside almost turned us away. We were in a group of seven- Six adults, one child. The child enjoyed the homemade cream soda. On the Adult beverage side- You must try the salty watermelon and the drunken pineapple!! Their drink menu is fun and makes for good conversation! We ordered for the group instead of ordering individually so we could share the brisket, pork shoulder and sides. We ordered 2 1/2 lbs brisket and 1 lb. pork shoulder. For the sides, we ordered 3 potato salad (a good take on potato salad), Mac and cheese (joke, it was Kraft Mac & cheese) -1 star, braised greens (ok), cornbread (yes), fried green tomatoes(no). They should divorce their BBQ sauces immediately. All red sauces should've been served with pasta instead of bbq. The Carolina Gold Mustard Q was the best sauce along with the White sauce. Josh was our waiter. He was super nice but all of our food arrived and we had to ask the manager to get us some silverware, He made a joke which killed some of the tension but they could've just had the silverware ready. We arrived and waited 15 minutes for our other guest, then 20 more for the food and still no silverware. They also did not have toothpicks.

This restaurant deserves five stars because of the friendly and professional staff ! The owner and family also on board that Sunday night as well . Which shows his commitment to the customer dining experience. They pay attention to detail and follow up to ensure all your dining needs were satisfied . Ordered the beef brisket dinner with three "fixings" and texas toast . The sides were homemade three cheese macaroni, fresh shredded red slaw and smoked corn on the cob . Dinner was served promptly. The beef brisket was moist and very tender .Yum yummy ! Dipping sauces are homemade too. Yum!!!!No hassle for parking . Easy access inside the Winn Dixie shopping center on Curry Ford Road . selection of craft bottled beers, wines and spirits. Comfortable , spacious seating. This is an unique smokehouse with ambience and great taste . Delicious!

The menu is so unorganized..the prices for individual items are way too much...lunch shouldn't cause you $20 a person. That's probably why they don't have people going there, the two times I went in there for lunch it was a ghost town. The mac and cheese is horrible.. way too dry for the price. And the collard greens is way too sweet and not enough salt and flavor...I love the sweet tea and the wait staff.

  • Marlon P.

It was just ok. The waiter made it sound way better than it was. The portions, though weighed, looked a bit under the weight limit. The sodas lacked flavor and again fell short. Thought there could have been more flavors to choose from. Being a bbq restaurant, the one thing that should never be messed up are the baked beans and these were like canned beans. The pork belly was meh and the short rib was overdone. I would love to try Southern Moon again but if might take some trickery to get me there.

I was excited to try this place out because it is another place to eat in the neighborhood and I love me some bbq. It's very clean and inviting. It smells so good when you first walk-in but it becomes too much by the time you leave. The server was very friendly but admitted she completely forgot to ring up our appetizer! I liked the idea of the homemade soda. I did not care for the root beer as it had a medicine flavor to it but the cream soda was delicious! We ordered the brisket and they gave us one strip that was all fat. I asked for another piece and the server had to check with the manager who happily brought us new brisket and extra too but it was still only "OK". The corn on the cob is out of this world! However the baked beans seemed pasty and bland. The pulled pork was OK. I like trying all their sauces! Our server was slow to check on our food, we were constantly out of water, and she also took a ridiculous amount of time to run our credit card. So long in fact, that I got up and left to the car I was feeling very sick. My date ended up feeling sick too. While I think the potential is here, they need to get better service, improve the quality of the food, and air out the place. I was really disappointed with our visit.

Chill atmosphere. They had some interesting cocktails on the menu. I tried the spice margarita and it was yummy. Not too spicy and tasty. The portions were good. I ordered the pulled pork and chicken and both were deliciously along with the sides. Overall, a great place and will definitely return.

Very good food and excellent customer service. Fast, friendly and informative. Tried brisket, pulled chicken, pork belly, great white baked beans and collard greens were delish. Sauces have a strong vinegar taste. Atmosphere and soft music playing are great. Quality tables and chairs.

If you appreciate a well prepared meal then this is the place for you to come visit! Everything made from scratch even the cream soda :) since you order ala carte we had the option to try a lil bit of everything we like, we ordered more than we could eat but since we were in from out of town we new we wouldn't be able to come back soon and it was well worth it! The pulled pork was the favorite of meats and we tried almost all the sauces and can't go wrong with any of them. If you don't like home made food and having to order from a chalk board I guess you better go to the local chain that gives you a menu and pre packaged food that they warm up for you!

Went there recently and got the brisket and fried green tomatoes. Both were terribly overpriced and the fried green tomatoes tasted worse than the frozen version. The brisket was alright, that's a hard cut to do right though. I might go back to try the pulled pork, but my first overall impression wasn't too good.

Got take out from here last night and we were very impressed! Ordered the baby back ribs and brisket split between two adults and still have left overs! The corn greens and baked beans were delicious as well! Oh and the bread pudding AWESOME! It was massive! Everything was fresh with a homemade taste! Woke up still full the next morning! Will definitely go back!

Incredible bbq joint with authentic atmosphere that won't break the bank!!! This place is the best bang for your buck with the best food you could buy!! Do yourself a favor a run to this place

Simply awesome! I have already been there three times in the past two weeks and plan to go again before the weekend is over (and I live 25 minutes away). Brisket good, pork sandwich, awesome. Sides are large and can be shared. As to the sauces, there are two Carolina sauses (can't remember the name) one is spicy and the other less spicy. Mix them with the Mamma sauce for a mouth-watering taste with a kick!

Awesome new BBQ joint, easily the best I've had in Orlando! Love the way they sell their items by the 1/4 pound so you're able to sample a few items. Highlights were the short rib, st. Louis ribs as well as the masterfuly made variety of sauces. All the sides we had were on point too. The house made sodas were unique and very tasty. The aromatics of the birch beer was superb. They are also going to get a brewery up and running which i cannot wait for. I will be back for sure! Excellent job!

This is one of the best smoked meat/BBQ places in central Florida. The sides are great and I highly recommend for first time visit, trying a quarter pound of the five different meats. The sauces are a great compliment to the handcrafted meats. Also try the house crafted ales. We truly enjoyed our dinner and looking forward to another visit.

I'd like to start off saying I've had 8 years of restaurant experience with 6 of those as a corporate trainer opening stores and my wife also has restaurant and training experience so we know how a restaurant should work. As the previous BBQ joint that was in the same location was so terrible we've been extremely skeptical about trying Southern Moon. Walked in and the greeter who was possibly owner or manager was very nice, there were only 4 or 5 other sat tables. It then took us 20 minutes just to order and then another 20 minutes to get our waters. Numerous staff had walked by us from the time we were sat until we finally got our order in and checked on every other table but never said hello or I'll be your server and I'll be with you ASAP. My son spilled his water and the bartender (a server was nowhere to be found) came out and helped clean up which was very nice. I'd say it was another 40 or more minutes to get our food. Once we got our food my ribs were partially cold. Cornbread, beans, corn on the cob and chicken were delicious with the rest of the food mediocre at best. The table that came in just after us walked out without ever being waited on, they had sat for 30+ minutes. They did offer us free dessert so we choose cheesecake and coconut cream pie to go, all were amazing and whomever prepared them needs a raise. We were there a total of about 1.5 hours with only 15 min or so was eating our food. As we live close we were very excited about this place but we will not be back and would not recommend anyone to go there unless they are ordering a drink from the bar and getting cheesecake to go.

Pretty mixed for us. Home made breads, desserts, sides etc. Great beer/cocktail selections. Seems like an awesome concept. Execution was my concern. No Coke/Pepsi products if that is important to you. Biggest tip- bring your own ketchup. Biggest question - how do you know which sauce you want without anything on the table? One has a distinct spaghetti sauce flavor so just be aware. Corn was really good, but all of the food was room temperature, not hot. Beans might have been better as a heated side. You can hear the cook beating the bell nonstop from the kitchen, but there didn't seem to be food runners. They do BBQ with cole slaw on it. We didn't want that to better taste the meat, but I'd probably recommend it to others because I think the sliced pork needs the moisture from the slaw dressing. The bun was toasted and very good. Fried Mac/cheese looked great as did the pulled pork nachos.

It's just OK. They were out of brisket. There were flies buzzing around. Cornbread was dense. Mac and cheese wasn't creamy. Short ribs were fairly bland. Service was good though.

Went there on opening day, Fathers' Day 2014. Amazing aroma upon entering the building, and greeted by friendly servers. All the basic done right - food comes out hot and timely, great tasting food, great presentations. Happy and friendly employees. The owners are warm and genuine people that just want to do it right. I think they nailed it! BBQ sauces all made on site, from sweet and tangy Texas to Carolinas hot vinegar and a few things in between. Corn bread was a perfect balance of jalapeno, corn flavor, just sweet enough without trying to be a dessert, and graciously accepting butter as a 'finishing sauce'. The butter comes out soft in a small dish, easy to spread. Amazing wings, brisket, pulled pork baby back ribs, greens... We were not disappointed when we sampled quite a few of the main dish items. Sodas are made on site. Ginger ale is made from real ginger root. Root beer is made from infused birch bark. Note to Coke and Pepsi: y'all need to come here and sample "The Real Thing". No aftertaste or after-slime. Think of the taste difference cooking food over propane vs lump charcoal. If you know what I mean and can appreciate the difference, you'll be equally amazed. I'm not a huge chocolate fan, but the chocolate lava cake (chocolate infused with a hint of orange liquor - wow!!!) was just amazing... If you have a hankering for BBQ and are anywhere even close to Orlando, this is a must-go-to kind of place. This is "done right, and for the right reasons"... As my Ukrainian mother used to say... 'Smachnoho'...

Went with group and was served burnt overdone baby back ribs. sent them back and never received anything else. my friend ordered a steak medium well and it came out raw and mooing. they fried it on grill over seasoned. The steak alone was 20 dollars. so disappointed. I was one who favored us coming here. I was going to review and bring 12 visiting family member this friday. they really wanted bbq. well they are big eaters and love food. just not burnt old leavings. I now have no plans on ever returning. yuck. good luck
