Does Orlando really need yet another burger joint? How many burgers can one Orlandoan eat? Well, Chad and I recently decided to scope out Smashburger, a recent addition to Orlando's thriving burger scene. And for us there is a number of new places offering burgers for the veggie crowd, from house made black bean patties to quinoa and mushroom variety. Gourmet burger joints have become all the rage- from Shake Shack to BurgerFi to Burger 21. Smashburger is a chain with over 300 restaurants in 32 states and 5 countries. Do not confuse this place with a McDonalds wanna be- everything is cooked fresh to order. Burgers don't sit in a steamer and fries don't cook under a heat lamp. We had heard great things about their Vegetarian black bean burger- though the burgers are not made in house at each location, the recipe is exclusive to the Smashburger brand. However, one thing to note- the vegetarian patty is cooked on the same surface as the meat products- there is no designated veggie grill. If you can get over that then the veggie burger is pretty decent. The Avocado Ranch Black Bean Burger is actually better than decent. The burger patty itself is spicy so the avocado and ranch were nice to cool the heat down a bit. Lettuce, tomato and pepperjack cheese add more flavor to an already tasty combo of toppings. We ordered a few sides to share- one being the Smash Fries. Thinly cut potatoes tossed in olive oil, rosemary and garlic. Delicious and crisp. We also tried the Fried Pickles. Chad and I are normally a big fan of fried pickles but these didn't do much for us. A little too greasy, the breading was soggy and the pickles were very sour. Not the good sour most pickle fans crave, but a watered down soury blah taste. We can definitely find better fried pickles elsewhere. Perhaps our most favorite item, however, was the Veggie Frites. Fresh green beans and carrot sticks flash fried served with a side of ranch dressing. These were pretty tasty and an extremely rare find in a burger place. I love that they served these- anything to get kids to eat their veggies is a big bonus in my book. Veggies rule. In general, we liked Smashburger- the veggie burger was good and the veggie frites were unique, however, the fried pickles were passable. And most importantly, the veggie burger isn't truly Vegetarian as it's cooked in juices on the same grill as its meat counterparts

Saw Smashburger on my way to the mall and came back when I finished my shopping. The restaurant gives you the feel of being in an industrial plant. Everything is simple inside. I ordered the classic smash burger regular and the smash fries. Smash Fries, yeah, they are tossed in Italian olive oil rosemary and garlic. For me the smash fries were hard cold shoe string fries that tasted like nothing. The Classic smash burger had a very good flavor and cooked just right. There was nothing great about it just a simple burger. They have several flavors of shakes but I did not try one.

Do you like grease? Like, so much that you need to wipe the table down after eating takeout? Like, the grease goes through the wrapper AND the bag and onto your table? Initially: Hey, what's that place? Is it worth skipping Pollo Tropical for? Let's check it out! Inside: Cool, cool. I like the options. Local references. Nice feelings. Could be my new jam. Sit down to eat: Wow! That's a lot of grease! I'm sure the sandwich is still yummy. F*ck those fries tho. One minute later: Hey, not that bad! Three minutes later: OMG what was I thinking? I feel terrible! My stomach hurts. Why is the table sticky? Fifteen minutes later: I hate myself and I will never pass up Pollo again. Then there was the time the Center for Science in the Public Interest warned you about them: nutritionaction.com/dail…

I had the Central Florida burger. I think that was the name; it had fried green tomatoes on it. Delicious. For 2 adult and one kids burger, 3 drinks and a large seasoned fry to share, it was $25. Quick and friendly service by the guy who cooked and delivers our food and the girl who took the order. Yum!

Eh. That's how I felt after leaving Smashburger. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to write home about. The restaurant itself was clean and tidy. There was a good amount of space between the tables (doesn't feel crowded). It's also located across the street from the Fashion Square Mall, which is convenient. The employees were amazing. Very friendly and helpful. One in particular was making sure we needed nothing. He was also good with the kid, which is the best way to win me over. The food is where the issues start. First, I don't like having to buy a burger and fries separately. The burger should come with fries (or at the very least offer a combo). Next, the burger was tasteful, but just not amazing. I've had worse, but I've had much better too. The rosemary fries were different. They weren't for me, but they weren't bad. I may try it again someday, but for now, I just wasn't impressed.

I was a little too excited when I heard that a smashburger was opening in Orlando. The burgers are delicious! Very juicy and flavorful. You can make your own or choose one of their creative options. They also have chicken and huge salads. I tried the Buffalo and blue cheese and the central Florida burger and both were on point. The haystack onions side is the bomb. Love the dipping sauce. They also have really tasty fries. Definitely better than shake shack. Also, I think they have a better variety of options compared to other trendy fast casual burger joints.

First time ever at Smashburger! Loved it! You walk in and place your order and pay at the counter. They give you a number and bring your food out when it's ready. I built my own - a basic cheese burger and added all of my favorite goodies... a fried egg, lettuce, grilled onions, pickles, mayo, and mustard. It was so, so messy but perfect! It definitely reminded me of Five Guys - but with a lot more customization available and maybe a little messier? The fries were shoestring style - I got the Smash Fries with rosemary and olive oil. They were good, but shoestring aren't my favorite and there was plenty of food with just the burger and my shake - not so sure if I'd order fries again. If thin cut is your style though, they'd be good. Lastly - omg - the milkshake. I just had vanilla - but it was amazing. Creamy and thick, but still drinkable through a straw. Parking in Colonial Plaza is super easy and there was plenty of seating - both indoor AND outdoor. I'm rating this at 2 $'s instead of 1 because if you want a burger, shake, and fries it's definitely not under $10. Think more $12-$13 per person.

Just like gourmet cupcakes were the rage a few years back now it is gourmet burgers! Neither of which is good for your waste line but both are fun to try. Smashburger now in Central Florida competes with a variety of other casual burger joints like Burger Fi, Graffiti Junktion, Burger 21, Shake Shack, Five Guys and Burger U. I've tried each and each has their strong and weak points. Here's my take on Smashburger... Walk in and grab a menu then place your order at the counter. You are given a number and find a seat. The dining room is open and clean but not very comfortable. This night the air was blowing too cold and the spot lights blind you if you sit in the wrong spot. It has a doctors office feel between the overly bright lights, hard seats and super cold room. Service was friendly and quick. I had high hopes for my BBQ bacon burger but honestly, it was just ok. It had less flavor and punch than I would have thought by reading the ingredients. It was good, but not great. I got the sweet potato fries with it and they too needed something. More salt? Something sweet sprinkled on top or available to dip in? The smash fries were much better, I'd get them next time. We also got the fried veggies which were interesting but too greasy and not crisp enough. They boast in offering local beer but all they had were two cans from Cigar City. Better than nothing, I guess. They had ice cold mugs available which was a nice touch. The menu had lots of options so I would give them another shot. Overall there was nothing that made Smashburger stand out from the crowd.

Underwhelmed by food quality. Got my order wrong. I ordered smash fries but for regular fries. This was my first visit and I see no reason to ever come back to this or any other Smash Burger.

Word of mouth quickly got around about this new burger joint opening up here across from Fashion Square Mall and in Waterford Lakes. Me being a Five Guys aficionado, I had to give this place a try this past Thursday night, and boy was I in for a real treat! =) A few have already Yelped about the outstanding customer service, and you definitely get that as soon as you walk in the door. Someone usually chants "Welcome to Smashburger!", similar to what you get at Moe's. Also after you get your food at the table, someone comes over and asks how is everything and if there is anything you need. Top-notch customer service right there even for a fast casual burger eatery. The quality and prices of the burgers and fries are competitive if not a tad better than at Five Guys. Love the smash concept they implement on the patties as well as the fresh ingredients. And the fries... well all I can recommend is the Smash fries and that's all you really need to complement the burger :) The décor of the restaurant is very warm and inviting for anyone dining as a single, couple or group. They also have outdoor seating as well if you're into that. Now I remember that this used to be the old location for Boardwalk Burgers; thank God they've been replaced with something better! Overall I think I may have found my new burger haven as a home ;) Next time I come back I'll have to try some of their specialty burgers like the truffle mushroom and the black bean.

VERY CLEAN --QUICK And POLITE SERVICE. Everyone who works there seems to enjoy their job. Burgers are superb along with fries. You can't go wrong eithe any particular fries you order. A MUST RETURN

The burgers were very juicy, but I wish I would have ordered the BIG burger. It was still good, fresh and disappeared quickly. I actually like the skinny fries, but the buffalo fries didn't have much buffalo. The blue cheese buffalo and avocado bacon burgers were delicious!

Best fast food burger joint in Orlando! I am not religious but dang this place is "OMG" delicious. They are soft opening right now but it seem like they got their stuff together. Parking= plentiful Customer Service= awesome. The waiter brings your food out and checks up on you. Food= Delicious. Cheap. Fresh. Variety of Option. All the ingredients that they put into their food are fresh and seasoned perfectly. We loved the following: Truffle Mushroom Swiss (my inner foodie was quite excited when I saw the word Truffle in a burger) BBQ Bacon & Cheddar SmashFries (shoe string fries tossed with oil, rosemary, and garlic) Oreo Shake I can't wait till they open in the Waterford Lake area. Move over Five Guys!

Great new burger joint in ColonialTown! Burgers were extremely flavorful and the fries and onion rings were well above average. Restaurant was clean and well lit. Very reasonable pricing for what you get. The customer service was good however there are some kinks that need to be worked out. It was so loud near the order counter that the cashier had to keep asking me what I wanted. Then got the wrong burger because she didn't hear it correctly. No big deal, they corrected it. They did bring out two milkshakes by accident so there was some confusion there. I'm giving them a little slack since it just opened. The food was great though. Will definitely go back!

Very pleased with the food and service on my first visit here. Upon entering we were instantly greeted by a nice gentleman who handed us the menu. I chose the truffle mushroom Swiss burger without hesitation....and boyyyy was I glad I did cause it was YUMMMY! Even the plain burger on spicy chipotle bun was good. Chose the condiments on the side to test out the meat. Smash fries are thin shoestring crispy delicious. Last but not least, strawberry milkshake to end a satisfying meal. Service was great and everyone was nice. I like it better than Shake Shack. Will definitely come back and next time I'm going to try the salted caramel milkshake.

Smashed-to-order burgers + hand-spun Haagen-Dazs shakes = GO HERE! YOOOO, these burgers are legit! I am so happy this spot is not near where I live or I would be here everyday. I have been to this location twice now and it's been a smooth run each time. Walk up, order, table number type of place. It definitely has the Chipotle feel going on, modern, fresh ingredient focus, minimal design going on. Their burgers are so enticing. They use fresh, never frozen, beef and smash them onto the grill when ordered. They are fresh, and a mix of salty and savory. So good. You can make your own burger or choose from one of their staples. The two I gravitate towards are: - Truffle Mushroom Swiss: Truffle mayo, sautéed baby portabella mushrooms and aged Swiss on an egg bun. - Bacon Cheeseburger: Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, tomato and onion on an egg bun. They have a CFL specific burger: The Central Florida: Wicked Pimina Cheese, Gulden's, Spicy Brown Mustard, fried green tomatoes, shredded lettuce & mayo on an egg bun. The Smashfries are delicious, I just wish they were as large cut as the sweet potato fries. They are stringy but the flavor makes up for the lack of thickness that I crave. They are tossed in Italian olive oil, rosemary & garlic. Sometimes a little oily for my liking though. Finish it off with a shake and you will be perfectly ready to nap your afternoon away... with a smile of course! I go for the Chocolatey Chocolate shake topped with whipped cream. So dang good. They use nothing but the best ice cream around, Haagen-Daz! So go here and feast on a great burger meal!

Watch out Shake Shack, there's a new burger place in town! My husband and I checked out this Denver based restaurant's new( and first) location in Orlando. I was expecting big crowds on a Friday night but we walked in to no lines whatsoever. Worked for us! We grabbed a few menus to browse quickly before walking up to the counter to order. They offer a variety of "Smashburger" and "Smashchicken" options and even a black bean burger option. There is also an option to create your own burger as well as several salad choices. My husband was super excited about the handspun milkshake choices(using Haagen Dazs ice cream)-- lots of fun flavors like Peanut Butter & Jelly (sooo good) and Nutter Butter to name a few. Anyways, you place your order at the register and pay. Then they give you a number for your table. Think Pei Wei ordering system. I decided to go with the spicy jalapeno Baja crispy chicken sandwich which came with a generous amount of jalapenos, guacamole, pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, onion and chipotle mayo. Really good! I would probably skip the jalapenos as it was too much for me but everything else on there was a winner! The chicken was juicy and crispy- pounded thin. Had the haystack onions which are essentially thin onion rings. They were good but a bit salty for my liking. So keep that in mind. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger and really enjoyed it. He had the spicy buffalo fries (dry seasoned with Frank's red hot) and also mentioned that they were salty. If you are trying to cut back on your sodium intake , I would recommend going with a plain order of fries. I'm wondering if someone was a little heavy handed with the salt as I can't imagine this is how they taste all the time. There were a few things we noticed during our visit. The AC was dripping water right above the area at the register for ordering. We were dripped on and when the cashier saw this, she mentioned that it had been going on all day and apologized. I'm just surprised that nothing more was done earlier in the day and that it was continuing to drip with not even a bucket to catch the water. Also, while I love when employees check on diners in the restaurant, we had 3 people constantly check on us probably every 10 minutes .It almost became a running joke. I think the employees need to work together and check with each other to see who has been checked on , greeted, etc. I know this sounds nitpicky but it ends up becoming an annoyance if you are being checked on every time you take a bite of your burger. Anyways for about $26, I think it was a good meal. I love that they don't isolate the non meat eaters and offer many different options. And they are a far more superior option than another burger place in town- my honest opinion. Again, yes this is a burger restaurant but it is fast casual so don't expect fast food pricing. You can't lump it in the same category as McDonald's.

Holy Burger Matrimony! Oh Smashburger, how I've longed for you... Yelp + Smashburger + Andi = LIFE! I had unique opportunity to taste-test at Smashburger tonight with a handful of other super cool elites! Smashburger is a new chain in Orlando originating from the northern states and has one location currently at the intersection of Maguire/Colonial. Their second location will begin development shortly in the Waterford Lakes area. This place is going to be a SMASH! (See what I did there?) Venue - SB décor and venue is very upscale fast-foody. Very similar to Burger 21 or BurgerFi. This location is rather large - its very spacious and can surely accommodate a crowd. Seating is comfortable and the décor is welcoming. Service - Tonight was different from a regular night for several reasons but the entire staff, hosts, and owners were super nice and very helpful throughout the night. You can tell they are very proud of their brand and eager to spread the word. Food - Yes, yes, and yes! Where do I begin??? It might be better to list my thoughts on each burger and side. Shoestring fries - perfectly salted! Sweet Potato fries - best SP fries I have ever had in my life...literally. Fried Pickles - OMG what did I do to deserve this crunchy dill goodness?! Classic Smash - your all American burger...but perfect! lol BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar - So tasty, feels like you went to your fav bbq spot! Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger - Sweet baby shroom! D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! Regional Burger - Fancy with the fried green tomatoes but not my fav. Avocado Ranch Black Bean Burger - Impressive and strong in flavor Spinach, Cucumber & Goat Cheese - Very impressive, the cheese sets it off! Buffalo & Blue Cheese Crispy Chicken - A mans burger for sure! Cheesy and Spicy Did I mention Milkshakes??? I was only able to sample the chocolate flavor but Smashburger makes all of their milkshakes from Haagen Dazs ice cream. Nuff said! Yum! The burgers are super amazing and most are made with egg buns! Is it just me or do the buns make the burgers??? AHHHH thank you Yelp Elite for allowing me to participate in such a delicious and delightful event! GO TO SMASHBURGER NOW!!! or when they open! Wednesday, December 3rd! You won't regret it!

This is one of my favorite burger joints since trying it out during an Elite event. I've happily been back many times since. The buns are perfect and the smashed and fresh burgers are delicious. I can usually tell how fresh and well made food is by how I feel after eating. I never have pain when I leave here, I always feel full but not like I swallowed a bag of wet rocks. Don't skip the onion haystack or smash fries with olive oil, garlic, and rosemary. The place itself is clean and open with references to Florida hanging on the walls. The staff are also always friendly-Can't really ask for much more than that! I do wish they had the fried green tomatoes that are part of the Florida Burger as a separate offering on the menu like their fried pickles.

I the Central Florida burger is pretty good with a fried green tomato and pimento cheese but you couldn't taste the meat. They do have excellent sweet potato fries and the staff is very friendly. The food also came out quickly.

We first tried Smashburger in NC and were super excited to see them come to Orlando! Burgers are yummy and they offer toppings that the usus burger places might not. Save room for a yummy shake!

YUM! I was so excited to hear about this since I had been able to have it in Las Vegas before I moved here. The chicken ones were all good in my opinion and I really like that they have a vegetarian option as well with a black bean patty. My favorite burgers are the original and the truffle. I'm a sucker for truffle on anything! Definitely a must try. The service was excellent and they were all very friendly :) I gave it 4 stars because the prices are a little high for burgers/sandwiches (I felt the same way when I was living in Las Vegas), but definitely worth checking out!!

  • Paul G.

We came to this location to redeem some free fries from our last visit. It looks like with every purchase you can complete a survey to get a free order of Smashfries. That's enough to bring me back any day! But on this visit I only had one thing in mind: the cookies 'n' cream shake! This location's shake is just as good as the Waterford location. I had some of my wife's Smashfries, and they were just as good here too. It was a bit chilly inside, but nowhere near as cold as it was in the Waterford location. We decided to eat in the car. Both locations were quite empty. Maybe other customers find the cold a bit unbearable too. This is Florida after all, lol.

Meh says it all about Smashburger. The restaurant has a typical problem for a lot of establishments where the ingredients sounds better on the menu than they actually taste. Both my BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar burger and the Smashfries tasted very middle of the road. In the current Orlando dining scene, more and more burger places seem to pop up every day and it takes a strong and, dare I say, risky menu, to set it apart from all the rest. Smashburger could deliver if their ingredients could be tasted in the final product. The counter staff was very friendly and really sold the food well. The main problem simply stems from the fact that the food itself tastes just very average.

I don't know whether I've been living under a rock for the past year or if I'm just oblivious to my surroundings but until a couple of weeks ago I had never heard of this place. Here's what I thought: The decor: I like the industrial feel. It kind of had that same transparency feel that their ordering style gives you. I get the feeling that they want to show their consumers that they are trying to give hem a good experience with no secrets. I can definitely appreciate the effort to make me feel comfortable by being so transparent. The service: Really nice. It kind of reminded me of Culver's from WI. They want to be a fast food like chain without the unpersonal experience. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. When I went the manager was walking around and for some reason he made me feel uncomfortable. Not really sure why he just had a certain presence. The food: What it boils down to for me is the mainly the food. I wanted to really live their fresh food. But I just didn't. I felt my burger was dry. Not kind of dry but really dry. Granted I didn't have ketchup and mustard, only lettuce, pickles, and ranch. I'm not sure if was the small amount of ranch or the overcooked burger but it was just so dry to me. My boyfriend ordered the chicken sandwich and I think they must have cut the breast in a way to make it SUPER thin. I mean ridiculously thin. Although the chicken wasn't over cooked, it lacked that certain juicy texture. I understand the desire to cook it quickly but at some point you can't compromise on flavor. The bright star in all of this was the hand spun milkshake. I tried the Chocolate Oreo and guuurrrrl let me tell you.... that thing was good. I may just come back for that. The fries were also delicious. I could actually taste the rosemary flavor and didn't get that greasy texture from the olive oil. They were so good. All in all I just wasn't impressed or upset it was just meh. I may come back for some fries and a milkshake but definitely not for a burger

Burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches are all over $7 each... S&S fries booo! The burger was dry and it really had No beefey meaty flavor. Truffle chicken sandwich was swimming in grease! Whatever the appeal is for the other yelpers I certainly didnt find it... overpriced and average food!

  • Todd L.

3.5 Stars For the price this spot is always a good choice if you're nearby. The burgers were good, not life altering, but solid good. The olive oil fries were the real star in my book and I would always come by for these.

This is my first visit to Smashburger today for lunch. I had the Windy City Smashburger and Smashfries. I took my order to. When I took the food out the bag five minutes, there was grease on the napkins and the takeout bag. The burger was tasty. I was not too impressed with the fries. They are supposed to be made with olive oil, rosemary and garlic. I could see the rosemary on the fries, but did not taste any hint of garlic. They were just okay. However, I liked them because they were skinny fries. This place is a place I probably won't visit because there is nothing outstanding about; however, the food much tastier than its competitor BurgerFi.

An all around good experience. I stopped in here to grab a burger to go and it was super efficient. I just went with a basic burger (their Smash burger) and the Smash fries. Burger was pretty great, my only complaint is that it could have used more seasoning on the patty. Other than that, I was pleased. The star of the meal were the FRIES. I could have eaten a pound of them! There is something about rosemary and potatoes that I can't get enough of and these were perfect. Crispy without being overly greasy. Very similar to Shake Shack but the fries are 10x better.

"Wait. When the heck did that pop up? Why does the font in their logo look like Gamestop's?" -Things I thought as I passed by Smashburger on 50 over the past couple of weeks. Tonight, my friend and I decided to give it a go. It's...not bad. There's a decent variety on the menu, the ingredients are fresh, the place itself is very clean, and the staff was very friendly. But for a burger place? Eh. I went with the bacon cheeseburger. The burger patty was a little too thin for my tastes. Sure, it was wide in length but not in width. It tasted like a typical bacon cheeseburger. The fries are the really thin kind, and I prefer fries with a bigger cut. The food here is better than fast food joints like McDonalds and Burger King, for sure. However, as far as fast food burgers are concerned, I feel like I get more bang for my buck at Five Guys. Since I'm a huge fan of burgers, I'm willing to give this place another shot and try some of the other items on the menu. As for this experience, I wasn't let down, but I wasn't really impressed either.

  • Chris P.

The only positive thing I can say about this experience is the burger was tasty... that's it. The food took almost 30 minutes to get to us. Each item we ordered came out separately and so delayed we almost finished the item before starting the next. The signature smash fries were smothered in olive oil. Not just a little but it literally was sitting in a puddle of oil. They seemed to be under staffed. Half the restaurant tables were diety and had not been cleaned. While sitting here we have seen at least 3 other people complain. It's super chilly inside too. Had to run back to the car for a jacket. I will say the staff smiled. Said hello.. and good bye. Despite the tasty burger this experience was a bust. I won't be coming back.

Very clean and modern decor. The large Smashburger is a good size for someone with a bigger appetite. Crispy, well-seasoned patty and fresh veggies. The fried are very good but it's the small, shoestring fries that are harder to eat. The burger is the reason to stop in though.

Very good burger with the perfect portion size. Not that greasy and the sides were better than almost any other burger joint.

  • Anita L.

Like others said, just like Five Guys and Shake Shack. All the fried side items are good. I enjoyed the smash fries, which are thin fries (my fav!) with olive oil and rosemary. The burger itself was okay. I didn't feel it was extraordinary. This is a better option for those who feel Shake Shack is too limited in their burger offerings but don't like the greasiness of Five Guys.

  • Lashantz N.

It was OK. I give it 3 stars because the decor is really nice & the staff was friendly & helping with questions about the menu. The fries were good but the burger was not as good as I expected it to be. I got a bbq bacon cheeseburger with barely any bbq sauce on it. I wouldn't say that I would never come but it isn't anything I would rave about.

As a first time visitor, I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly the staff was! The lady who took our order was personable and made excellent honest suggestions. The burgers were very salty, but both the traditional smash fries and sweet potato smash fries were phenomenal. Each dinner also receives a coupon toward their next visit each time they dine!

Great place! A lot cheaper than it's burger counter parts around this area. Food came out fast and fresh. The fries are deliciously seasoned and the onion straws had a good dipping sauce. The regular size burger was huge, bigger than burgers at Shake Shack and Burger Fi. Got one shake to share and they split it for us which was the perfect serving to compliment the meal! Check it out!!

Parking at this location is not too convenient. I would recommend coming here at an off peak time as the inside and out is more enjoyable. Burgers and fries are all good. I have been here many of times and whenever it is at a peak time the service and flow of the restaurant is just poor. Smash fries are a bit greasy but they don't taste too bad. They need a larger bun for the bigger burgers but it's hard to find much else wrong with the burgers.

See Ya later other burger joints. This place is amazing. Shake Shack was our go to place for burgers, not anymore. Super friendly staff. Super clean restaurant and bathrooms. Parking is beyond easy, unlike Shake Shack. Try them out, you will not be disappointed.

  • Melody W.

Very underwhelming. I had the black bean veggie burger and it tasted just like refried beans on a bun. My fiance got the bbq chedder and thought that it was lacking in flavor. The only saving grace was the rosemary shoestring fries, but it was a very small portion for claiming it was made for two. Probably won't go back.

Super underwhelmed. Burgers are too thin and the toppings are too small for the price. My boyfriend decided he wanted a side of fries halfway through the meal. He ordered it and we waited. I finished my burger, we were still waiting for the fries, so we reminded the food runner about them. We waited longer, he finished his burger. Still no fries. Went up to the counter to ask if we could just take them to go. They apologized, but we still had to stand around for an extra five minutes to get them to go.

Do not pass go do not collect $200. Stop here!!! Saw a bit about this place on Fox News and had to try it. Blows 5 Guys out of the water. Delicious, fresh, fun and reasonably priced. Best part... The meat is actually plentiful enough to see around the bun. Unlike their competitor (see above) who's meat is so small it's practically vegetarian. I highly recommend the veggie frites and any burger on the menu! Great "fast food" option for anyone.

My husband and I decided to check out all the hype and visited Smashburger for lunch. Customers order at the counter and take a seat. An employee will bring your freshly prepared food. The menu is good, lots of choices, something for everyone. I had the regular Smashburger. It was good, definitely a step up from McD's or Wendy's. I had the Smashfries, which are skinny shoe strings, like Steak and Shake, tossed in olive oil, italian seasoning and rosemary. They were tasty, but I'm more a fan of the thick cut fries from Five Guys. You place your order, and take a seat. A very friendly employee will find you and deliver your meal. I really don't have anything bad to say about SB, but I wouldn't go out my way to eat there. I WILL drive a little out of my way for Five Guys. We had lunch on a Saturday afternoon at about 1:30. The store was busy and it was loud. Maybe its just me but there was music overhead, banging and cooking sounds from the kitchen, patrons yelling to their companions to be heard, SB employees talking loudly while walking around with trays, searching for the customer so they could deliver the food to the table. I don't mind loud places but there is quite a bit of commotion. I do regret not having a milkshake. It was just over $20 for my husband and I to have burgers, fries and a drink.

For a fast, clean, and efficient place I would rate it high for the basics... The food. Smash burgers provides a great product in a comfy environment that will bring me back again for a change of pace from the atypical fast food joints! Good job smash burgers!

My rating scheme: 5 - The best of the best. Not many in this category. 4a - Wonderful, hard to get better than this - wide appeal 4b - Wonderful, hard to get better than this - limited appeal specialty restaurant 3 - Perfectly acceptable though not earth shaking 2 - Only if your hungry and there are no other options 1 - Dont even think of it Smash Burger: 3 One of the problems with taking a genre of food preparation and re-making it .. is the comparisons to the 'original'. I went to Smashburger with an open mind - or so I thought. But just a few minutes into the meal I found my self thinking "this is no Butterburger (Culvers) .. this is no Steak and Shake" or the summer drive-in's in Wisconsin and Kansas. I was obviously wanting to replicate those exepriences and Smashburger fell short. A good smashburger should have a nice crispy sear on the outside - and not overdone on the inside. Though not overdone - there was very little (if any) sear on my burger - it was just a skinny hamburger. The fries - were horrible. I really like skinny, crispy fries .. but these fries were oily verging on soggy. I will go back to Smashburger .. and soon. Next time I will order it dry, with mayo on the side and closely examine the burger for smashed'ness .. and will try the fries again to see if those were an anomaly of the index visit. If there is improvement - I will update this review. If looking for a decent burger in the area ... give this place a try. But there are other nearby options ... Shake n' Steak is very close to the west; Smokey Bones a bit to east has a great burger ... but if you want to try one of the best burgers in Orlando .. drive a few miles further to the east on Colonial and try the Oblivion Tap Room.

Cool, contemporary burger place for lunch. My 19 year old son wanted a burger and I'm a vegetarian so this was a good choice. He had the Bacon Cheeseburger and Smashfries which he liked very much. I got the Blackbean Avocado Burger with a side if Veggie Frites. Mine was good but not great. There was hardly any avocado on it but the quality was decent. I did not enjoy the veggie frites. They said it was green beans and carrots flash fried which I pictured being like Japanese tempura style but it ended up being super greasy like the oil was not hot enough or something but it was a "yuck" experience for me. Definitely disappointed because I was so excited about the menu option to have flash fried veggies. Customer service is really good though, staff super friendly, just wish the side dish was better. will try again...

Solid blue cheese burger and excellent fries with just the right amount of olive oil and seasoning. The GF bun was a little dry, but you're hard-pressed to find this option on the average burger joint menu. A nice addition to the Colo strip.

Good food. Attentive staff. Recommend the larger burger as it has a better burger to bun ratio. Smash fries are great.

Great new burger joint across from fashion square!! We were greeted by a very friendly employee who took the time to explain the menu to us! It was great because we had never heard of smash burger . We got the original burger and it was awesome! The buffalo fries were also great as well as the sweet potato fries ! My husband and daughter got the milkshakes and they were both very thick and delicious per their comments! They use Haagen Daz ice cream I looking forward to trying the chicken sandwich as well as some of their salads !! I also like the fact that they use red plastic cups for the sodas! Prices were fair will definitely go back soon!!

The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing! I was pleasantly surprised considering I just wanted a cheeseburger. I got the cucumber, feta, and tomato burger with smash fries and a strawberry milkshake. It filled me up but wasn't greasy. I will definitely be returning! PS They have gluten free buns.

After recently hearing about Smashburger from a Vegas pal, I was excited to hear of one opening here in Orlando so I had to give it a go. Man, was it worth it. Amazing, juicy, truffle burger. Smash fries and buffalo fries were definitely on point and to top it off, that PB&J shake was to die for. You will definitely see me again very soon.

With the appearance of the business, I was expecting something better then 5 Guys. I was sadly mistaken when my wife took me there today. The food was decent. Nothing more, nothing less. The smash fries are super thin and didn't taste anything like olive oil, rosemary and garlic. The service was very good and the employees do cater to you to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. If the food complimented the service, this could turn out to be a regular place to frequent, but a few changes need to be made for that to happen. If they are going to charge the prices they list on the menu, then Smashburger needs to up their game on making the food alot more desirable. Not worth the price at all. The 1 star is only for the attention the employees gave, not the food. Appearance, didn't get a star because they focused more on that instead of food and pricing. That could of earned them 3 stars atleast. For now, I'm sticking with 5 Guys. Very satisfied with the food at 5 Guys as well as the service.

Went to smash burger on 50, was very delicious. It was great to taste a new style burger/ chicken sand which. Went with larger group, tried all the sides. Was very fresh and tasty. Chicken with goat cheese with spinach, cucumbers with vinaigrette on toasted bun. It was awesome. Get out and try it.
