What a great meal. The food is very fresh and the service quick and accommodating. We enjoyed corn fritters as an appetizer. Tasty with it's dipping sauce. I enjoyed the roasted pork with pigeon peas and yellow rice. Jose devoured the chicken breast stuffed with plantains and bacon. We finished with flan at our waiter Christians suggestion, Delicious.

The yelp deal allowed us to try a few different items. We had the empanadas, yucca mofongo, tostones with shrimp, and rice & beans. Everything was good for the deal. The service was really slow even when it was not even busy. I was parched and only got refilled of water once. Took 10 minutes for my friend to get dressing for his salad. I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing, but I had the same type of slow paced service in a similar restaurant in Tampa. I know Asian restaurants could be the same too but pick it up.

Very poor. The Taco's from Taco Bell are 100 times better. Everyone in our group was dissatisfied with food and service. It's a shame cause we are locals and would like to have an awesome Spanish restaurant that serves dishes like Tacos, Cuban Sandwich, and carne Asada. If they don't get there act together they will be out of business soon.

This place is new as I write this. Had lunch yesterday and the food was great. And in my opinion underpriced. Went back today and sat at table. And sat. And sat. Hostess kept apologizing and walking away like she was getting a server. After sitting for fifteen minutes without even a drink order being taken, I left and ate next door. I think the concept is good and the menu looks great. I worry because every restaurant that's been in that location hasn't made it and it's usually always a service issue. I hope they figure it out. Downtown really needs a place like this.

Good food (not excellent). Below average service (slow, servers forget things, uncooked food). Good ambiance Saturday night with live Latin Jazz. I would give them one more chance. I like their concept. I hope for success but need to improve service "pronto"!

Food was good. Very fresh, Huge bar area, nice music. The restaurant needs to have a decoration update. Chair were cover with an old fabric ??? , wall needs to have more of Latin colors.

Placed by this place after having dinner at another local downtown spot.. I saw the two singers through the window and had to stop by. I'm sorry that I didn't come here for dinner. The menu is extensive and the food is made from scratch... Great, new, and much needed addition to the downtown culinary scene...

Went for the fist time Saturday night. Took my in laws and my mom for dinner. The restaurant location is easy to find, and as well parking. We were seated quickly, there was no wait. However, the service was TERRIBLE! Sad to say.. The girl that was taking our order had no clue on what the restaurant menu consisted of. We would ask her questions about the menu and she would have to go back and forth to ask someone else. My father in law had order a glass of wine he was not close to be done with his glass and she came a took it way to make room in the table for the entrees. (No, we didn't get the glass of wine back) the only thing that saved this place from getting "3stars" was the flavor on the food, I do have to admit the food was good and fresh. Just a heads up... On service! The key for a successful restaurant is service and good quality of food, and unfortunately this restaurants lacks BIG time on service.

First off they have a full bar and claim to be puerto rican but they don't have a blender to make a pina colada . Then the server had to double check they curls even make a mojito. These are basic drinks in my mind and should be a staple for a puerto rican/caribe an restauant. Second the decor was bland and sterile. A little pain t goes a long way. I did enjoy the band that was playjng. The food wasn't bad at all. I ordered this huge pork dish that the name escapes me. It was a hug slab of meat that covered the plate. It was also super salty but that I believe is the nature of the dish. I tried bites from my friends dishes and they were good. I doubt I'll go back. The food was good but the price is what really left an impression it was pricey and for tge money I spent I wish I went to a nice steak house

Visited this new restaurant with a companion on July 4, 2015. The food was very good and the service spotty. I had a problem with the restaurant manager's attitude. He would not accept a printed VALID groupon I had. After arguments with the manager, he finally honored the groupon. Regardless, the negative experience sealed future visits to this restaurant. I will not return and will not recommend to friends and family.

Food was good, service prompt and polite. However, for lunch considering there was only 3 tables being served it took well over 30 minutes to get my mofongo and masa frita. The mofongo was bland abut the masa was great. Lunch downtown should have a quicker turnaround. Overall restaurant was clean and friendly staff.

Food was Ok, nothing special or spectacular. Appetizers and Entrees are a bit overpriced but I guess that's because it's located downtown. The decor needs a serious face lift, does not reflect Puerto Rican culture as much as it should., Hopefully the ownership can turn it around and bring the place up to par.

I'll start with the positives: 1) Fresh, deliciously prepared food at a reasonable price. 2) Friendly waiter. Negatives: 1) Horrible ambience. At 8:30 p.m., lights were on at full brightness. Not very intimate. 2) We had to change our order twice because they were out of the first few things we ordered. Frustrating as well that the waiter didn't know this and had to be informed by the kitchen. 3) VERY small glasses of wine. About 4 sips per glass. This would've been fine for a "tasting" but one would expect more if paying full price. In the interest of full disclosure, I used a groupon and am glad I did. I'd go back, but only with a groupon. Sadly, every time I've passed by the place they seem to be empty. Not sure they'll be open much longer if they can't draw more of the downtown crowd.

I really wanted to like this place, as I love authentic latin food and it's a quick walk from my house. However, I'm sad to say that there was not one redeemable characteristic I experienced. The service was... atrocious, to say the least. The waitress not only didn't know the menu, but refused to serve the items that were on the menu, even when we pointed them out. ("I want this with black beans, please." "No." "But it says right here it can come with black beans." "No." ???) The food was overcooked and oversalted. The drinks were no good. (And that's saying something, because I'll drink just about anything.) It was a total disappointment all around. TLDR; Just... don't.

I took my mom to this place because she wanted to hear Puerto Rican music. We heard great Latin jazz and we had a great meal. My mom had the mofongo and I had the stuffed chicken breast, they were great. Atmosphere was wonderful. The owner came out to greet us. The server was very attentive.

Food just wasn't that good. Got the skirt steak with mofungo, first off it was a $5 up charge for mofungo when the menu says $3, but that wouldn't be a big deal if it was good, unfortunately it was not. It was way overcooked with minimal flavor and the steak was clearly low grade. The parts that weren't grizzle were okay, but nothing spectacular, especially not for the price. My wife got the chicken nachos which were okay as well. The chicken was very good, but the chips were terrible, overcooked and no salt on the chips. Also, they put something that I thought was sweet potato on the nachos, weird. Lastly, the service was okay, we went early so it wasn't busy and even then the service was just okay. I can imagine during peak hours it's even worse. Would I go back? Maybe, would I order what I got the first time? Absolutely not.

The host was super nice but our waitress was shy. The host seemed to know more about the drink specials than our server. There mojitos are a most try! The coconut one is delicious and refreshing. The food was good. I ordered the stuff chicken breast with bacon and my boyfriend ordered the kan kan (which is huge). Definitely a plate that should be shared.

A friend suggested this place, and here I am. You can tell they just opened their door , it is missing some decor; however, once you walk in you'll be delighted with the friendliness of the staff. Big smiles, immediately got us a table and took our beverage order, please note there are more tables and more clients coming in, and so far everything has been very smooth and timely. Our server then came to the table offered appetizers but we were ready for dinner so we ordered, my son ordered the Kan Kan and I really wanted the snapper but it was sold out so I went for the fried pork chunks. While we waited some nice live music, nothing crazy, actually very appropriate for dinner. And dinner came in, and it didn't disappoint, food was delicious, perfect portions, and nice presentation. Will definitely come back.

No Bueno. Just don't do it, keep walking to Spice Burger. The food wasn't great and the service was very very slow. While I understand that stating a language barrier may be interpreted as a racist statement. Let me be clear that here, it is not. The menus and signage were all in English and I can tell you that the staff here does not speak it. At. All. Beyond my very rusty high school Spanish, I don't speak it, and have still been able to order food at restaurants in Miami and Mexico without issue. This is something else. Don't bother going to the bar either, they do not know how to make the most basic drinks that you could order. They did not know how to make a martini or knew, even, what olive juice was...after advertising martinis as a drink special. The appetizers were deep fried so much that they were not individually identifiable. The entrees, when they finally arrived, were very greasy, the meat was very tough and the only dominate flavor I could taste was salt. So unless you like a glass of straight vodka, fried food that resembles something I left in the toilet this morning, a side of salted cow tendon...I mean steak, don't patronize this restaurant.

Excellent experience! I had the chuleta KanKan that was huge and so tasty! My wife had the skirt steak strips and they were juicy and full of flavor. The Mamposteao rice amazing just in par with their service. Definitely coming back!

Ok. I normally don't write reviews unless I have something good to say about the place. Here's what I think: The place is well located (just downstairs of the Cobb Plaza Cinema) but the atmosphere inside is kind of dull for a latin place. I was expecting it to have lots of decor and nice music but instead they decided to use a really simple (not in a good way) decoration and play bachata & reggaeton in a really lousy speaker. Maybe it was the time (4pm) but it wasn't what we wanted to experience. Now, as for the pros, the food was very good. We are from Puerto Rico and they really know how to cook our food. We ordered the big fritter appetizer to start and it was sooooo delicious... it actually helped me calm the cravings I've been having since I got here. The Sweet plantain mofongo is good (it can use a little more flavor) and I ordered it with Ground meat which was yummy! My husband ordered Steak cubes but they didn't get it right..instead they gave him a regular beef steak which was not that good. He had it with Mamposteao Rice and that was amazing!! So, summarizing, the food in general is very good but they need to work on their atmosphere so it can be a little more festive.

So, I'm really not sure how I feel about this place. On the one hand, we were greeted and seated promptly, but that's kind of where the good service ended. It took quite a long time to get our appetizer, and we waited more than 30 minutes to get our lunch orders. A restaurant in downtown that offers a lunch menu and caters to people who are obviously on time constraints should do better than that. I will admit that the fried cheese app with the guava sauce is really very good. I've never had mofongo before and wasn't sure what to expect, but it was just ... blah ... and dry. I ordered the pork tacos and while the flavor was there more or less, they broke apart in my hands. The "soft" tortillas were dry and brittle. Everything fell back onto my plate. My lunch partner had the pork chunks which he seemed to enjoy, but everything for my part was underwhelming. Our server was nice and I know the wait was no fault of her own, but there were maybe 5 other tables in the restaurant with patrons. Figure it out Isla Verde, or you will be the next on the ever growing list of restaurants to fail in this location.

Delicious and creative dishes. Trying the mofongo is a must.. especially if you ask for the mixed mofongo (I think I had green and sweet plaintains mixed) WOW! The live music on weekend nights is right on, reminds me of growing up in my island, Borikén. I recommend they bring some salsa and merengue music in the late hours...the location and nightlife around desperately needs good taste latin music...and this place has great location, it is classy, and has enough space to make some room for guests that want to dance...just saying. On top of it all...the attention to detail. The bar/floor staff is always looking out for their guests and Vincent will personally show up at your table to make sure you are having the best experience. In my opinion... it is a two thumbs up and I am sure you will agree with me when you visit. Hope this helps!

There's finally a good Puerto Rican restaurant in Orlando. Went here on Friday with my brother and his girlfriend. The food is great quality, which is rare for most Puerto Rican restaurants here and reminds me of the island. However, the service could be a bit better. Our waitress wasn't as attentive to our table and hardly came by after we received our food.

UPDATE: Beware of Ownership. Food is ok. I'd still say that. But this restaurant has only been open for a couple months and has already lost every employee that helped them open. They used to have an awesome Bartender that was a huge reason to visit. Now the bartenders and servers have no idea what they are doing. The Bartender that they let go, she made the most Amazing drinks. Guess that's out the window here. And the owner with his gold tooth is...... Ah, no need to go on. This place is a Zero star. I'll never go back. This is the next place to close downtown

This restaurant left so much to be desired. As a Puerto Rican, I have particular expectations when visiting a Puerto Rican restaurant. We started off on a bad note when we were told that several menu items were out and thus no longer available including some typical Puerto Rican dishes like the alcapurras or the red snapper. We were then told by two waiters who wanted to debate with me that arroz con gandules, rice and pigeon peas, is arroz amarillo, yellow rice, as I emphatically explained to him that yellow rice is one thing and rice and pigeon peas is something else. Overall the staff was not very courteous and they seemed bothered and they were lackluster. The service needs to be improved. The saving grace of the visit was the food, which was delicious, but not fantastic. I probably would never visit this restaurant again the next time I am in Orlando.

Been there twice, food was amazing with great prices, service was a bit slow, so last night I gave it a second chance and food and service was up to my standards. We order several appetizers, very tasty specially fried cheese with guava (Delish) mmm. Loved the live piano music, just playing easy listening, not too loud nor overwhelming just perfect.

I have now been here 3 times... First let me say that I REALLY want to see this restaurant succeed but they have a lot of work to do. The service is chaotic, the lighting is blatantly bright on a Friday night and the atmosphere was no where near anything resembling a Latin feel. The owners genuinely care about the patrons but seem overwhelmed and seemed to lack leadership. Place really needs some color and a Latin flair. The food however scored on all 3 of my visits. You will wait for it however. While we did not drink we saw several drinks go back. Place really needs more diversified culture in their staff choices. Server did not know the menu nor had he even heard of some of the dishes.

First time here with my wife and we both liked their snapper. We had the filet and full deep fried. Great taste and portions. Yuca fries and rice mixed with beans completed the typical plate.

I was so excited to visit this new restaurant but having gone there for lunch was very disappointing. Food was cold and service was so slow. Definitely not a place for lunch which makes me wonder how it would be for dinner. I don't think I will be returning.

The service was SLOW. The food was terrible. Very little concern from the staff when our drinks and dinner were totally incorrect. There are other amazing restaurants in the area. Don't waste your time.

I decided to try Isla Verde for lunch. The place was about half full. We were seated immediately. We then waited 15 minutes without acknowledgement before walking out. This is the 3rd or 4th business in a row in that location that will eventually close because of terrible service.

I really really really wanted to like this place... Being raised in the island and "isla verde" being one of my favorite beach spots I was really looking forward to it! Long story short after 15 minutes of entering the restaurant we had to leave. We requested a high chair for our 7mo baby (flip car seat trick)... Halfway to our chair he said can we just put the baby on a chair? It's he only high chair we have just in case another baby comes in. To the inconvenient request we agreed... Once at the table she placed us on a middle of restaurant table. I requested to be moved to the table next to it (empty) because is a table agains a wall so I don't have my baby's car seat that's sitting in a chair now in the middle of all the traffic. Her reply was... Well that table belongs to a party that apparently had half the restaurant but were all standing! So I request the high chair again or politely I said to her "we can come another day if this is too much trouble". She now brought the high chair. After 10 minutes of waiting for our server... She arrives and the first very dry and rushed words were "want appetizers"???? I said well have two water....and she flew off.... Leaving me with my appetizer order in my mouth!! At this point we just had a bit too much for the high hopes we had. And stopped the water order and left. NOTE: to be fair the place had a big party that filled half the restaurant. And my whole review is based exactly on my experience. I can't say nothing on the quality of food or service on a slow day. Btw I this was Sunday @2pm.

We went for lunch. Big smiles and very friendly staff! We were seated promptly and it only took a few minutes for our waiter to get our drink order. We had a special request due to dietary restrictions that they were more.than happy to accomodate. We had pork chunks, chicken chunks, grilled steak (perfect size for lunch) fried plantains and the house salad. Everything was excellent!! The meats were well seasond; And that guava sauce its really something else!!! I had "flan de almendras" for dessert and its the best flan ive ever had!! Can't wait to go back for dinner!!!

The ambiance in this place is fantastic between the live music and the wonderful staff. They have a full bar with some of the friendliest and most knowledgable bartenders in town. But the true star of the show is the out of this world food. Everything from empanadas to lobster, sea bass, and filet mignon. I'll definitely be back!

Lunch specials are a great value. $9.99 for fried pork, rice and beans, small side salad, and a drink. The fried pork was delicious and I'm comparing it to homemade fried pork I've had many times. The restaurant can make the menus a little nicer. They didn't go all out on decorating their space. I was there for lunch but apparently they have live music in the evenings. Working in Downtown, this restaurant will be in the lunch rotation based solely on the fried pork.

The best food in Orlando. To tell you I order a red snapper whole and is the best one I had in a very long time and the best price for it. The beans, appetizer the best. I will recommend it to every one.
