I now know why the newest location to hit Jacksonville has a line out the door every time I try to stop by. It's more like a 3.5 star review, but I went down because of the snafu they made with our order. They got the order right, it just took a really really long time for us to get it. They did 'mend' their mistake with two extra wings & a free dessert. My husband & I split the 8 wing combo with two sides & ordered the cheesy yuca bites as well. It was more than enough food for the two of us and we were happy with the price at which we got out the door. If the line is not out the door at the one in Jacksonville, I'm definitely stopping by next time.

This location is horrible. Maybe I haven't had Pollo Tropical in a while and maybe my memory of Pollo is clouded with that of my experiences in Miami, but this place needs to get it together. The chicken caesar wrap was just not good. It was stuffed with an overabundance of lettuce, maybe 3 pieces of chicken, and a slop of dressing. I also specifically asked them if they had fried yuca or yuca fries as a side order and I was assured that they did and it would be included in my order. Well, I ended up with the saltiest, over greased waffle fries in the world. The best part of my meal was the fruit punch. Good luck.

Where do I begin? How about i start where this pollo tropical location motivated me to start a yelp account to submit my first ever review of anything! Ive used this app for YEARS but never had an experience bad enough to actually say something pubicly....heh publicly. PUN INTENDED I love pollo trop. I frequent it actually. Even horrible locations that seemingly always get my order wrong or insult me with tones of voice or dirty looks. This location is TERRIBLE!! The manager needs fired asap, and possibly some of the staff along with him. My order has been wrong 4 out of 5 of my last visits. But as i said, i love pollo and can deal with a mistake here and there. NEVER AGAIN. I ordered a chicken breast meal with white rice, black beans, mash potatoes with the meat well done. It usually comes with a roll and a small salad, but these two items are frequently forgotten at lots of locations so i usually remind them/ dont bother them if they are busy. I recieved 2 undercooked breasts with no salad, no roll, NO RICE, and corn(?) But heres the kick.... A HUGE FRICKING PUBIC STYLE HAIR SMEARED ACROSS THE TOP OF MY CHICKEN IN PLAIN SIGHT!! The horror and insult still stain my eyes. They will know who i am, they will know why i will never eat at this location ever again, and i will be as nice as i can when i tell them how bad they are at their JOB. But yelp will get the brunt of my frustration so they should be thankful for this wonderful app that makes them look so terrible.

If you have never been to a POLLO TROPICAL you must go. I should start and say I LOVE POLLO TROPICAL and its my favorite fast service restaurant. I do not like the service at the particular location. I grew up near the Altamonte location and have been going since I was really young and before that the one in Miami. Altamonte location puts this location to shame. I have multiple times received the wrong food, the manager walks in circles and is beyond clueless and they can never seem to know how to ring up coupons. I usually try to go to Colonial location but this location is so convenient. I have eaten probably ever item on the menu over 15 years. The sauce bar that was added maybe 5 years or so ago is amazing. Try them all. My favorite is the curry mustard, salsa, papaya bbq. If you have not had Spanish food dont be scared. The chicken is the moist chicken you are going to find. I love the black beans and rice and plantains. The chicken soup gives me the warm feeling I'm at my mother in laws home. This is probably besides subway the fastest healthiest food you will find. Many options if you are on a diet.

It's kinda Cuban, but also kinda Puerto Rican too. I guess Latin Carribbean would be a good way to describe the succulent, tender, savory, fall off the bone grilled chicken they serve up here. I'm salivating at the thought of it. Honestly, it's one of the reasons we go to Orlando from Jax. I'm embarrassed to say it, but it's true. It's fast food, but it's good. I had been to other grilled chicken places similar California, Miami and Peru and it's gotta be up there with the best. We made the mistake one day of going to Bongo's at Downtown Disney, which is uber touristy, expensive and whatever. The ambiance is nice for what it is, but Pollo Tropical is sooooo much better we had to tell the manager. Seriously, I called the manager over and told her I loved it and asked when they would come to Jax. They are moving to Tampa first she said, then maybe Jax. Did I talk about the food enough? The sides are good, but standard. Black beans, white or yellow rice, beans and rice, salad, platanos...Oh, they got rid of the tostones (I dunno why). The soup deserves it's own paragraph, cuz if it's hot n fresh, it's really tasty. Has chicken, plantains and other good stuff in it. Oh, Glabella often gets a shrimp skewer as well. It's only ok for me. I usually get the tres leches, but sometimes I'm too full. But it's this traditional Latino white cake drenched in 3 types of cream/milk and I think it's an orgasm in my mouth. I get it at as many restaurants that'll serve it to me. PT's is pretty darn good. Fast food with 5 stars? Hellz to the yeah. Especially when we can get out of there for under $20 for 2.

The food here is always amazing and its very cheap. If you are from out of town give it a shot. They have great grilled chicken. make sure to get the Plantains. Lunch can be very busy.

Oh my God, this is one of the few things I miss about living in Central Florida. Pollo Tropicale is a fantastic chain serving delicious Cuban goodies. The chicken is so juicy and tender that it's almost a crime to use the fantastic side sauces on it. And then I'd always finish it up with the fried plantains amidst the black beans and rice...oh, this place is heavenly!

Grew up in Miami and have r Eaten at quite a few pollo tropical. This has been my worst experience. Undercooked rice. And the chicken was overcooked. It's a bad representation of the restaurants in south Florida.

Upon first hearing about Pollo Tropical I was really exicted to try it. I love fresh food, salads, grilled meats and most of all Black Beans. Anything that comes with Black Beans, I'm a fan of. Unfortunately, I was a little dissapointed. While I did enjoy the beans, there wasn't enough greens or veggies availalable to balance out the meal. I tried the pulled pork, it was good, but a little too fatty for me. Great flavor though. This place was just a little too "fast foody" for me. Not as great as I had though it would be.

It wasn't very late when I dined there but the empty dining room should have been a clue! Staff was RUDE! I couldn't decide what I wanted and rather than help me to decide they were antagonizing, as if how dare that I, the only person in that restaurant not on payroll, not be able to make up my mind. Witnessed staff wander around bored with nothing to do, having "cleaned" the dining room, but from my table I could see how poorly cleaned the other tables were. I doubt a rag dipped in a cleaner had touched them to sterilize them in a week. Ordered the pork sandwich, which tasted watery. Wanted yucca, and they served me the fried yucca without asking. It was dry and obviously old, but I didn't want to inconvenience the over worked staff to remake my food. Not the first time I have had a bad experience with the staff in this POLLO, and the food for sure is not up to the standards of others.

Not like other PTs I've visited. Briefly: I didn't like it. 1) There isn't a soda vending machine. One has to return to the food counter to get ice or a refill (except tea). 2) They don't bring your food to your table. Again, one must return to the counter.

Hmm. Cuban food. I'm so ignorant about it I have no frame of reference for comparison. I suppose this is my introduction to Cuban food. What did I think? It was ok. I decided on the vegetarian bowl dish that has white rice, black beans, tomato, and cheese. I also decided to try the yucca cheesy bites. I was not feeling the yucca cheesy bites. The fusion of flavor was just not there for me. I have no idea what yucca is, or even how to pronounce it. YOU-kah or Yuck-a. Or some other combination not mentioned. Oh, I feel like such an uninformed, clueless American!!! I hate the feeling, but you know, I'm trying new things, getting more exposure, and you cannot ask for more than that!!

This place is WAAAY overrated. I thought this place was O.K., but based on the reviews I was completely underwhelmed. I was expecting an experience similar to Super Chicken, but boy was I disappointed. 1. Service: It's fast. That's nice, and the people were friendly. 2. Options: The choices are good, but really I would've expected the chicken to stand out The Pork my wife got was excellent. The chicken I got was mediocre. It was good but not really stand out against other specialty chicken places. For a 1/4 chicken I expected well... a 1/4 chicken, I felt a bit stiffed with the small portion or unusually small bird. Maybe I'm used to roided out super chickens but it was not filling, and without the sides I would've left hungry. The Pork serving size was also a bit small, but made up for it with flavor. 3. Sides: these shouldn't matter, most fast chicken places like this the sides are just filler. That said, we had salad, fries, and rice, and none of them were better than mediocre. In hindsight I'd try the Yukka, as thats a nice rarity you can't get most places. 4. Return?: I won't go back voluntarily, because honestly it was just nothing special.

Moved here from Miami and found a Pollo Tropical within two miles of my apt! I'm home, baby! Grilled chicken with aroz y frijoles negros.

  • Candace W.

Quesadilla salad is good when they aren't slopping it together. I used to love coming to this place but the food has become inconsistent. Sometimes the chicken is very over cooked, so dry you could choke! They often forget items from your order so it is important to check your bag before you leave the drive thru.

    (3)
  • Joy J.

The food is good but you are better off going to a mom and pops place for the good stuff. Plus you do not get that much food for the money. So BOO on that.

  • Trang N.

2 words = CURRY MUSTARD; It was the perfect touch to my chicken and rice. Decent for fast food. It beats eating the same ol' sugar-packed burgers all the time.

  • Never M.

Nope. Absolutely not. This place is not authentic tasting. It's an insult to Latin Caribbean people everywhere. This food was so bland. But this place is always crowded......

  • Damaris P.

Are you tired of the same old fast food fare such as burgers, fries, tacos and pizza. Then I suggest you check out Pollo Tropical when visiting Florida. Not only is the food more authentic than most pricey Cuban restaurants but alas it's also extremely affordable. If you are worried about eating deep fried plantains or wondering if the black beans and rice will trip up your diet then check out their nutritional guide that is available at the counter.

I was introduced to this chain down in South Florida, and I was excited to see it come to Orlando. They have a fast food ambiance but surprisingly good food. Pollo features Cuban food, with the primary focus being chicken (naturally). Their chicken is marinated in mojo and then flame-grilled, resulting in a pleasant char and incredible flavor. In addition, they have excellent traditional sides such as black beans and rice, plantains and yucca. Their prices are quite cheap for the quality; you can get a quarter chicken with black beans and rice for about $6. A great place to stop for lunch, or to do some take-out dinner. Highly recommended.

  • monica s.

Yummy, I must say. I used to get this as take out when I was living in Orlando. It was the best take out food. You can't beat the prices too. The grill chicken leg and thighs are marinated and cooked to perfection. Let me not forget the Yucca frites....coated with garlic sauce. They should come out here to California.....

Love the simple but very delicious Menu. I most of the time get the quarter chicken with black beans and white rice.

This place was decent. Good for a quick bite. They give you a lot of chicken and it's pretty tasty. The customer service was average as well. Everything about this place is mediocre. The sides were nice, but I dislike that they mixed some of my corn with the mashed potatoes. Overall, this place is just average.

The food is good but the service is horrible. Drive thru lady had an attitude, the people working didn't really seem to Happy to be there. Every time Ive attempted to order from here they are out of something that I want. I've given it three tries and at this point I'm ready to cut my losses. My advice is go inside don't take your chances at the drive thru.

Just about every friday at work, instead of eating in our own place, we will go out for lunch. We like to try different things to mix it up and we finally made a visit to Pollo Tropical. We have learned from the number of times we have now gone to leave a little early to avoid the lunch time rush. So far, i have had the TropiChop... basically everything you need or want in one bowl, a number of times. White rice, black beans, choice of meats and toppings... and just recently had the chicken quesadilla salad. I love the bowl combinations. Very tasty and the meats are always moist. The first time I ordered a large one and it was too much to eat! I had to take it home and have the other half for dinner. Since then, I order the small and it is just enough for me. I normally get the mango tea... yummy! The staff is okay and seem to be enjoying their jobs. The manager of the place is a hoot! He is very cheerful and keeps his staff working hard thru the lunchtime crunch! Atmosphere = 5 Service = 8 Food = 8 Pollo Tropical does well for us for a fun and fast lunch. They have not let me down so far! Enjoy!

on one side of the counter the patrons stand around like lobotomy patient and on the other side of the counter FOOD FIGHT!!!.... this Millenia place is so violent and rude... really there are fights on both sides of the counter ,,long long waits...they tossed my food cause i could not get past the crowed in time...these words does not do this experience justest...what we need here is film and audio so you can hear the excitement of the constant chopping of the chickens and the yelling and confusion.....CHOP CHOP POUND POUND The meat clever goes down... John Baluchi lives on...

If I could give a zero star I would. Let me start by saying that this review is for this particular location. I ate at a different location and it was wonderful. We waited over 45 minutes to order and get our food. The food here was not flavored well. Half of our order was missing and we had to remind them. They gave us our plaintans charred black burnt. We sent it back and 10 minutes later they presented us with another order that was even worse and more burnt. I love pollo tropical but will NEVER visit this particular location again.

Filthy location- We love Pollo Tropical and visit a location closer to us on a regular basis, but this was by far the dirtiest, stickiest, grosses location I have ever been to and I highly suggest the management do a spring clean on both the building and potentially the employees who are letting down all of the customers who come through here. The woman taking care of the soda and sauce station had every cabinet open revealing how filthy it was under the cabinet, sauces were empty and gross looking..soda was spilled all over the floor, the Lids, and the counters. Boxes to refill everything were on the table (noon-lunchtime) and sprawled on every area inconveniencing the crowd that was coming through. Food was cold. And the staff was not very friendly. Highly disappointed.

We were visiting the Holy Land Experience in Orlando and stepped out to enjoy lunch nearby. We found Pollo Tropical and were SO impressed! Not only was the food really good, the staff was AWESOME! For fast food, I was impressed with how healthy their menu is. Their chicken Caesar salad had HUGE chunks of delicious chicken. My husband loved his chicken & beans dish, too. The staff kept checking on us and making sure that we were happy. I also saw them interact kindly with each other and having fun. It was a very pleasant experience. We intend to visit Pollo Tropical again.

Chicken is the best. Don't expect the friendliest of people working but the food is good enough I ignore the people who apparently hate their jobs. :) Wow after I posted the tip.. I get a Mgr walk over and offered to take our tray to the trash and ask how our visit was.. Did he see my yelp...lol 5 stars for the extra effort

  • Travis H.

PROS: Love the concept. The food was very good. I ordered what they are known for, chicken. It was very good and the sides were enjoyable. The sauce bar was a positive as it offered some fun flavors. CONS: Seriously the service was terrible. The employees did not care that you were there and the general activity behind the counter appeared very disorganized with a couple people not really contributing to the processing of people's orders. Attitude, slow, and a real disdain towards the customer. There needs to be some better training or structure to maximize the process for the kitchen and order fillers. I will return but if the level of service does not improve, I will quit visiting here on my trips to Florida.

I had heard of nor been to a Pollo Tropical before, so it was interesting for me to find out later on their website that they have been around since 1988 and are located variously across America and in countries all over the world (including India, Trinidad, and Honduras!) I ordered a Tropichop. I nearly didn't because on principal I won't order anything with a silly name because it seems like a ploy to get people to say something silly for an irrelevant purpose. Why is this called a Tropichop? I don't know. Because the food is supposedly tropical and the meat is "chopped"? Whatever. Anyway, I got mine with chicken, white rice, black beans, tomatoes, corn, peppers, and onions. It was decent. I put salsa on it and it fed me without complaints. I was hungry. It sustained me. I drank a mango sweet tea and that was fine as well. What I do recommend is trying the Curry Mustard sauce which is located at the self-serve sauce bar. This stuff is good. Put it on something or anything. Maybe on the wings? I don't know, but that sauce has potential. Otherwise, meh. I've had better.

The food is always good here that's why I always will return but today it made me kinda reconsider me and my lady ordered a salad chicken Caesar salad to be exact first the lady at the drive through was rude . So we just paid and began to drive away , when my lady said we should eat inside . So I parked we walked in the tables haven't been bust down cleaned or wiped and I asked someone to clean them . When we pulled out salad out the bag it was like 25% full and missing chicken so I complained this visit was not as good as I expected !!

The food quality went down tremendously.. Was in the area and needed something quick but semi healthy to eat. Got the family meal as I was with my family. They didn't fill the sides a the way only half way and the chicken, there was barely any meat on there Don't think i would return on my own

    (2)
  • Dava P.

I will never go back it was terrible service. She repeated my order to me correctly but it had no lettuce & no tomatoes on it, but it did have the onions & way too many! I was very disappointed.

    (1)
  • Ashley T.

The food taste good but the service is HORRIBLE. The people running the drive thru always get my order wrong and they seem to not listen to a word I say. I have to repeat my order more than once and it's still wrong. Good place for a quick bite to eat, but be ready to deal with people who hate their job.

    (1)
  • Tom W.

The food is usually pretty good but the service is terrible. The girl running the window during lunch today seemed to hate her life, got my order wrong and when I asked for sauce, I got 3 containers with barely anything in them (not even enough to fill 1 to the top). The poor service seems to be a common theme with the Orlando area locations.

    (2)
  • Cynthia S.

Got food poisoning and was sick for quite a few days as their service is ridiculously slow

Despite finding a hair in my burrito, this place deserves its Stars! It's almost impossible to prevent the shedding of one's hair. We all do! The customer service is excellent and the food is always good. This is my El Pollo Loco away from home. The chicken is juicy and I love love love the unique salsa flavors!

  • Sara B.

So disgusting! Went here for dinner last night, bathrooms were nasty ( urine and toilet paper on the floors ) and the restaurant oh my god.. Our feet were sticking to the floor, seats and tables were greasy, trash was full, sauce bar was a total mess and the employees were rude and slow, didn't seem to give a damn about being there. The customers around me thought it was such a joke too, NEVER AGAIN to this location!!

    (1)
  • Alyssa K.

I hate everything about this place from the pitiful customer service, to the repulsive attempt at what they call food. I really want to like it because it reminds me of a place back in Los Angeles called Pollo Loco. But it's nothing like that place, no matter how hard I pray for it to be.

    (1)
  • Jay M.

Came here for a late lunch. food was amazing. My GF and I both got the Chicken Tropi Chop. The service was outstanding from the greeter to the lady cleaning the tables. We also got offered free smoothies by an employee while we were eating. Great experience and we will be back many times over and over.

First time trying PT. Ordered the 1/2 chicken with macaroni and cheese and fries. Very small pirtions. The chicken was cooked but didn't carry any major flavor. For $8.00 I'll just go to oublic get an entire chicken and side. PROS: clean, friendly staff, quick service CONS: little value, small portions, small taste. Wouldn't try again.

Pollo Tropical is a pretty delicious place to eat. Avoid typical lunch time! The blend of Latin and Caribbean food is great. The food was well cooked and tasted well. Last time I ate at a Pollo Tropical, the food was a bit overcooked and dry. It is moderately priced. I had the TropiChop with chicken, yellow rice and vegetables, and red beans. Overall, I'd say check it out if you are looking for decent place to eat in the area and don''t want to spend much!

    (3)
  • Nina R.

Definitely a repeat customer. For fast food, it sure tastes much better than any other fast food I've had. Some stuff even tastes more like a home cooked meal. Fast, cheap and the employees are actually NICE! The only thing is they stopped serving tostones!!! Not the tostones! Other than that, great place! *BRING BACK THE TOSTONES!!!*

If you love carribean food and can not get to jamaica or the bahamas, then go to pollo tropical. Yes, it is fast food, but it is soo tasty and delicious! The roasted chicken, ribs, yuca fries, sweet plantains, and all the other sides are so very yummy! You can eat light the next day to make up for it!!!
