This place is gross. This is NOT "NY style" Chinese food- this is crap! I grew up in NYC and maybe on the outskirts of true NY this is acceptable. The rice is gross, the meat dishes are gross. Tostones? Really? Urban ghetto Chinese places serve that and guess what, Plum Tree has failed at that as well. Don't be cheap, pay the couple extra dollars and head to Mr. K's.

Um... NO! I have never been in a restaurant that smelled so strange near the entrance. I got sick from the food. New York style my ass. I should have known better as soon as they pulled the egg rolls out of the freezer. NEVER AGAIN!

Great take-out, not really made for eating in, but there are tables there to have your meal. Prices are comparable to other Chinese "fast-food" and they are willing to please. The brothers who own the business are friendly. For the most part the customers know the menu better then some of the new cashiers taking the order but I'd pick them over Mr. Ks.

This place is genuinely disgusting. I am Chinese myself and what they serve me is not Chinese. I ordered a Szechuan chicken and ended up with something that was sweet and sour. I am very disappointed and will not go back.

Didn't even care to try it. Missed lunch special by 2min and they said sorry must buy dinner. This after she saw me scrolling up and down with my finger trough the lunch menu. Let's see how much business you do between 3-5pm. Customer service is lacking everywhere these days ... Not just here.

While ordering my lunch today, I asked the owner if they had Soy Sauce Eggs which is something I used to eat in Connecticut. She said they didn't have it on the menu but she took my number and told me she would cook it at home and call me. This is a perfect example of going above and beyond for customers. Therefore, I have added the 5th Star for excellent customer service.

Been eating here since they opened, being from Long Island i can truly say this is typical New York style American take on Chinese food. Good prices and always freshly made to order food. Those of you from New York City area should be able to relate.

I'd rather make my own than eat here. Food sucks.

Price: 5 stars; eating here is cheaper than getting groceries Decor: who cares? it's fast, easy Chinese take-out Roast Pork and Assorted Vegetables: 4 Stars; they use char siu pork and asian lettuce, both of which I'm very fond of Assorted Vegetables: 3 stars; mostly lettuce, but still pretty decent Szechuan chicken: 0 stars; it was a strange mix of chicken and onion in tomato sauce and utterly unlike any other Szechuan chicken I'd ever seen before

I have lived in Lake Nona way before plum tree was here. I have never had a bad meal from them since they have opened.

I asked for fried rice and all I got was yellow rice. The orange chicken had too much dough around the chicken. I did not like the taste of the food

The worst food ever...... I couldn't believe the open gross kitchen.. Rice was like mud and chicken was horrible.. The food was not edible. I should have waiting the hour long wait for Mr. K's.

Plum Tree used to be an ok strip mall Chinese restaurant but in the last few visits they have changed recipes or cooks or something and the food has gone from not bad to VERY good! Don't be turned off by the lobby or the plastic forks, if you are looking for table cloths and fine china, you need to get it to go and use your own at home but if you are looking for really good Chinese food at a good price, try Plum Tree!

That made the plum tree better than other We'll educated young man. do you have reach before listen to the previous review. Great location sometime the have special. They also give so much back to the lake Nona community. I will given them 5 stars.

This is one of the better Chinese spots in the area. The food is fresh. The prices are reasonable and the lady at the front desk is very friendly. I just had the pork lo mein and general tsos for dinner. It was very delicious.

In an area with below average Chinese food this place rocks as far as taste and value. This is a take out only place although a few tables for the construction worker lunch business, the 2 young children are always there which makes the place less professional but I am eating there for taste and price not the atmosphere. This is a notch above a hole in the wall, just a small notch

Huge sign on the door that says TOSTONES and guess what? It's not the real deal and that's what got me to go there in the first place. Ordered General TSO chicken and it was not spicy at all and the chicken itself was mostly breading. Since I ordered a combination it came with pork fried rice and it was more like yellow rice from a pre made GOYA package. I also ordered chicken wings with french fries and that was ok. After eating that my husband and I had really bad indigestion all night long. Needless to say I will not visit them again.

The food is ok. The service is another. They can be rude and abrupt. One time they just assumed we wanted drinks and charged us. Another time the owner (I presume) was talking on the phone to a friend at the front, so the girl couldn't swipe our card. He just lifted his finger signaling us to wait. After about 5 minutes of his laughter I just broke down and used my emergency cash because it was getting ridiculous.

My hubby and I grab carry-out from Plum Tree about once a month. We typically order one of the combination meals, which include a meat (i.e. chicken, shrimp, beef) dish, fried or steamed rice and an eggroll. Lots of times we will also order crab rangoons, because we just love them! We call in the order and can pick it up in 10-20 minutes, plus prices are reasonable - but one of my favorite things about this restaurant is they pack the meals in high-quality plastic reusable containers that I wash after use and add to our storage collection! Definitely give Plum Tree a try - I suggest the Lemon chicken, the Mongolian Beef and a recent find: Almond chicken...plus their pork dumplings are awesome!!

There are not very many Chinese restaurants in the Lake Nona area and this place seems to do decent business, most assuredly due to their location near Publix and the lack of competition. It is not because of the food. I've tried Plum Tree a couple of times and my last order has convinced me not to return again. I ordered several dishes and all were poor. The cashew shrimp were overcooked and rubbery and there was so much celery in the dish you could barely find the shrimp. The Hunan Beef was tough and, again, there was much more vegetable "filler" than beef. The fried rice was greasy and tasteless. The spring rolls were also oily and lacking in flavor. There are a few tables in the Plum Tree but it's not really a place you want to dine in. The dining area is dirty and disorganized looking. Take-out seems to be the majority of their business. I cannot recommend this place.

After moving into the Lake Nona area, it was nice to find a Chinese restaurant there. However, once we tried it we immediately crossed it off our list of places to go. In fact, it was such a bad experience we usually pick up our Chinese food at a restaurant 8 miles away. The food there could be described mediocre at best, and close to flavorless at worst. If you *HAVE* to have Chinese food and you don't want to go out of the area, then go to Publix and buy some frozen egg rolls. If you don't mind driving a little farther, there are some good Chinese restaurants on Lee Vista. The good news is that a new Chinese/Japanese restaurant is opening nearby and I hope will be able to finally provide some good Chinese food for the Lake Nona area.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
