Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

I wish I took a picture of what I just ate. I ordered 1 regular slice and 1 slice of sicilian. On the Sicilian I asked for the peppers, and then olives on the slice. When it came out, the slice was covered with olives....lots of them. If I had to exaggerate, I almost couldn't see the pizza. And the taste was wonderful, and the crust was crispy but soft too. The Sicilian had grilled red and green bell peppers (not spicy), and grilled onions. Much like you'd have in a steak sub. Wow! It was so good. The clientele seemed mostly New Yorkers, as I overheard conversations or accents. They all seemed jolly. Their alcohol selection was the normal wines and beers for a small pizza place. But what stood out is they carried a trio of Brooklyn Brewery beers. I wish I wasn't at lunch during work, or I'd have had at least one. The only problem we had is the service was slow. She took our order right away, but it took what felt like 20-30 minutes for the food. My coworker had the stuffed pizza, so I don't know if they had to make it from scratch. It was also a lunchtime rush, so that could be it. In the past, I have had their eggplant parmigiana, which was actually on special for Fridays. They have other daily specials. I saw lots of people eating non-pizza dishes and their menu has a good amount.

The service was incredible, I came here with a friend on a whim. We ordered the heart shaped pizza and the food came out amazing. Our server was very attentive and very polite. I would definety come back

Hi folks. I'm Cliffy M's cardiologist. Cliffy is unavailable right now. He's been eating a lot at Pizzeria Del-Dio and we're doing a little plumbing on him right now. But he wants you to know that it was totally worth it. He's been eating the personal pizza with pepperoni and the garlic knots appetizer. Both are really, really good, but as we cardiologists like to say .... rich. That personal pizza is big enough for two. It has a thin, crisp crust, excellent cheese, tasty sauce, and has pools of delicious oils from the cheese and pepperoni. The garlic knots ... well, they would be worth a pacemaker. They are served on a plate swimming in fresh olive oil and melted butter. They are warm and soft with just a hint of crust. They are buried in a mound of fresh garlic and parmesan cheese. They beg you to dip each bite in the oil and butter. And then start dipping the pizza crusts. This place is not fancy - but the food is good and not expensive. So for really good Italian food try it. For the pace maker, mention my name for the angioplasty special.

  • David D.

The garlic knots were great. I loved the meatball sub that I had. The fries were crinkle cut and crispy. The chicken parm sub we had was almost as good, but I think the meatball was better in my opinion. Really friendly service. We liked it a lot. My only suggestion for improvement would be a fountain machine for soda instead of just cans.

I would like to take a minute to lavish praise on my new favorite restaurant. I am a northerner, where mom and pop italian places are on every corner. This is the closest I have found in all of Orlando. I fell in love after my first visit there this past week. The location? a little hard to find. I came from Lake Underhill, then to McGuire, past the Executive airport, and I had no trouble getting there. My 'date' came off Colonial, and I had to help her find her way. It is in the back of the plaza, facing the back, but totally worth the extra time to find it. We went in, were greeted right away, and got to choose our own table. I ordered decaf coffee, which the waitress told me would take a minute so she could brew it fresh. She gave us a few minutes to read the menu, then my friend chose the baked ziti, and I chose the special which was half meatball parm, half eggplant parm. She brought us a loaf of bread with butter, and upon request we also got olive oil, garlic and Parmesan cheese. Then came the salads, with the house-made Italian dressing. The dressing was excellent, the salads were plentiful, and the bread was warm and very tasty. By the time our food came, we were pretty well getting full, but had to try the dinner, and it was worth every bite. Her baked ziti was like lasagna made with ziti, with ricotta cheese as well as melted cheese. Mine was meatballs, sliced then baked with cheese on top, and two slices of breaded eggplant, baked with cheese on top, and spaghetti. The sauce was delicious (I asked for more to take with me) and I was stuffed again at lunch the next day. It was heaven on a plate. The atmosphere was great, like an old Italian restaurant you would expect to see on TV. It wasn't crowded, and it was quick, despite doing a busy take out window as well, during our hour there about 6 people came in for pickup, and each seemed to be pretty big orders, not just a pizza. The waitress was extremely pleasant, and knew some of the other customers that came in by name and usual order. Would I recommend you go there? HECK YES. Especially if you are looking for authentic Italian food. I can't wait to go back again!

I have eaten their pizza via takeout several times since my company has had work luncheons with their pizza. Today, I ate two slices in the pizzeria for the first time. All I can say about their pizza is WOW! I am no expert on NY pizza, but if I remember from my multiple travels to NYC, this is as close as it comes. The crust is thin on the bottom with a fluffy, chewy end. The bottom is cooked crispy and hot, with no floppage due to grease. The pizza is not too saucey, and the cheese tastes very fresh. I went with two regular cheese slices so I am not sure about the topping, yet other peoples' pizza looked like the toppings were plentiful. The slices are $1.95 each. That is not bad compared to other Orlando area places thats sell by the slice. I went at lunch time on a Friday and the service was prompt. The place was extrememly busy, but we had our slices within 10 minutes of ordering. They have other Italian dishes on the menu and daily lunch specials. The only thing I did not like was the canned soda, which meant no refills. I am not going to ding them one star, but that has to change. A soda fountain in a pizzeria is a necessity and that has to change. I will, however, be back as often as I can for a slice. Del Dio is officially located on Colonial Drive in the shopping center with Bed, Bath, and Beyond. The best way to access is off the Maguire Rd. entrance on Fairgreen St (side street into the shopping plaza).

My mom and I ordered this for dinner the day after we all got home from the hospital (my wife and I just had our first baby!). We had ZERO interest in cooking. So, I used yelp to check out nearby local pizza delivery places with good reviews. And I realized, I've driven by this place SO many times on our countless trips to Buy Buy Baby on Colonial. Yup, it's in THAT plaza but tucked away in the back area. The guy on the phone was super friendly. I ordered one of their speciality pizzas...the Del-Dio or something. I forget. It had 4 or 5 different toppings. They told me it would be 45 minutes, but it was only 30 minutes MAX. The pizza was legit NY style pizza. and SO good! this is now my go-to place for pizza delivery. It's not the cheapest, but damn, it's good!

Live near Baldwin and was not happy with pizza places I kept ordering from for takeout. Heard about Del-Dio from a friend and decided to try them... Thank the pizza gods! Finally a well cooked, great crust, yummy sauce pizza! AND drumroll...... Happy Friendly Nice employees greeting and assisting you... All of them smiling even though they were obviously very busy. I walked out a bit shocked... So Friendly! Ha! My other compliment was my greek salad... just a salad I decided to get last minute, but I couldn't stop eating it! Who picks their salad over a steaming hot pizza? Me! I will be ordering here at least once a week... So happy they are in the hood!

Del-Dio's is family-owned casual pizzeria tucked away in the Colonialtown center. My friend loves their Italian Sausage with peppers and swears by it so I thought I'd give it a try for some take-out one night. I was in the mood for lasagna but feeling too lazy to make my own (my favorite by far ). I called in my ordered and the woman on the phone said it would be ready in 15-20. When I arrived, they had my dinner all packaged up. The lasagna dinner comes with a house salad (lettuce, tomato, onion and olives) and a house vinaigrette with their garlic rolls. I'll start with the lasagna which was a nice sized portion, plenty of marinara sauce which had a nice balance of acid and sweet - definitely tasted homemade, no jar stuff here. There is also a mix of a cream-based sauce that elevates the dish over tradition lasagna. They use a mix of beef & pork sausage and plenty of ricotta & mozzarella. Thumbs up! The garlic bread is topped with fresh garlic and perfect to dip into the sauce - great way to wrap up this A+ meal. I'll be back to try their pizza for sure next time!

You guyssss. I have finally found my go-to pizza spot in Orlando! This is the real deal. AND they make heart shaped pizzas. Who doesn't like that?! I'm big on crust.. It truly makes or breaks the pizza and boy this crust is perfect.. Just crisp enough yet with that hint of chewiness that is necessary. If I closed my eyes, I'd think I was in NYC. The Greek salad with their homemade dressing was so good that I can't stop thinking about it. I could probably eat it everyday. You can tell these guys really care about their craft and they sure do it well. The search is finally over. I foresee a LOT more pizza in my future!

  • Brian H.

Couldn't say I was a fan of the pizza. We ordered delivery which was done in good timing and the staff was nice on the phone and in person. My review is mainly based on the food. Large order of wings which was a decent amount and they were big wings BUT the outside was soggy and the meat tasted frost biten, hard n chewy. Didn't like the wings much they could use some work. Special pizza was ordered and this also was a dissapointment. The dough itself was undercooked.not too undercooked but enough to defiantly notice. The meatball topping was great but the canned chewy mushrooms on top killed that notion. I would definately recommend this place getting fresh mushrooms instead of canned. All in all we were expecting some really good pizza and mediocre wings, both were below expectations and yelp has failed me this time around. Can't win em all.a

First things first: My wife hates cheese, but she loves pizza (yeah, I know...). So it's hard to find a good pizza place. Conveniently, Yelp's email feature last week was pizza. Del Dio rated highly, so we decided to give it a try (the Yelp check-in bonus didn't hurt). The secret to a good cheese-less pizza is flavorful sauce and ingredients. Most pizza places have mediocre sauce and try to cover it up with their cheese. Del Dio, however, is the real deal! They have a flavorful, rich red sauce. The crust was perfectly cooked: crispy outside, chewy inside. We both loved our pizzas. They were still good as leftovers the next day. After four years in Orlando, we've finally found our pizza place. We probably won't try anywhere else for quite awhile.

  • Jordan O.

I am shocked by the wings, they are phenomenal. Nice amount of breading, always well cooked, and the sauces are excellent. And it's not just good for a pizza place, it's good for a wing place. Which is not to take away from the pizza, it's not as good as Italian house, but still the second best pizza in the area and I've tried pretty much all of them. Also, it's a great group of people there. Very nice to get to meet the owner and see him making pizzas in the back with everyone else. You can tell they take pride in their food and it shows. The last thing I have to mention is the garlic butter sauce. It's $1, get it. Doesn't matter what else you order, just get the garlic butter sauce. We ordered it and put it on everything we are that day and the next. It was AMAZING!

One of my top priorities whenever I move to a different part of town is finding the best place nearby to get pizza. Great pizza is essential for a happy life. After being underwhelmed by one place that I won't name, I decided to give Pizzeria Del-Dio a shot. As I always do when trying a new pizza place, I played it safe and ordered a cheese pizza. Folks, this is the real deal. I'm originally from New York, so I know a New York style pizza when I taste one. New York pizza just has that extra something that I've never been able to put my finger on. I figured the owners had to be from New York, so I checked the website, and, yep, Del-Dio originated in Brooklyn. I only met one member of the staff when I picked up my pizza, but he was very warm and friendly. The inside looks comfortable, so I don't think I'd mind bringing in some friends to eat in. The location is kind of weird, though. I drive up and down 50 all of the time, and I never recalled seeing a Pizzeria Del-Dio. Turns out they're in the plaza near the Bed, Bath, and Beyond and the restaurant faces away from 50. It's no big deal. Just pull into the shopping center and you'll see it. I look forward to coming back and trying the other kinds of pizzas as well as their calzones and stromboli. If the pizza is any indicator of the quality of the rest of the items, I'm in for a real treat.

I've never eaten at the actual location, but I've ordered take out a couple times and it's been very good. When I went to pick up last week, the restaurant was packed. Be advised: there's a Check-In Offer available, but it has expired, and they won't honor it.

I consider myself a pizza snob, and I really enjoyed this pizza. It is clear that it was handmade, and very traditional New York style pizza. The place was small and unassuming, but clean and the server was friendly. It did take a little while for the pizza to come out, but it was well worth the wait.

  • Terri S.

The food was amazing! We were greeted by a very friendly server and she seated us right after they cleaned a table. the place was pretty busy. My husband, friend, and i had right off the bat, some garlic knots.the knots were a right size, not too big, not too small. The garlic sauce made me swoon it was so good! I had the pasta carbonara and my husband and friend had the chicken parmesean. Everyone agreed this was probably some of the most fantastic dinners we have eaten at an italian restaurant. We definitely want to come back here, and try other things. I would like to try the pizzas!

We had been driving past this place for years on the way to shops in the same complex and finally decided to give it a try a few months ago. When we saw heart shaped pizza on the menu, my two little girls begged us to get it. We did and it was fantastic. The hubby thinks this is the best pizza in Orlando. I'm not ready to go that far but it definitely is among the best. Since our first experience, we have gone on average about once a week. I also tried the spaghetti with meatballs. The meatballs were outstanding! Huge and really flavorful. The bread that came with it was also delicious.

After reading multiple yelp reviews we decided to give this pizza place a try! So so happy we did! The owner is so kind and genuine! We first ordered the traditional cheese pizza! The crust is always perfect and the sauce has a tangy tomato taste! The cheese is perfect, not too little not too much ! We have ordered delivery multiple times and this past visit we ordered a white pizza . Lots of garlic and ricotta and spinach with that delicious perfectly cooked crust!! The delivery is always on time!

I was very happy with my food here. I ordered takeout and got my go-to favorite, chicken parmesan with spaghetti. It came with a side salad with italian dressing which was pretty good. The portion size was huge, so I had enough leftovers for dinner the next day. The chicken was delicious! Very tender and juicy and the spaghetti was cooked just the way I liked it, a bit al dente. The red sauce they use was also delcious. It's a very small place. When you walk in there's an Italian guy behind the counter making pizzas and he makes sure you feel welcome by saying hello and asks how you're doing when you come in and says goodbye when you leave. Very friendly. I would recommend this place and will be returning.

Great pizza! Hidden goodie, but worth the find. I didn't expect such good authentic NY style pizza when I first came here with my husband, but we were impressed. The pizza wasn't too greasy and it was nice and thin, just the way we like it. I would definitely come here again. I think they need better marketing though. There was barely any one in there on a Saturday afternoon. We were practically the only ones. At first it made me nervous to eat there...but I really did enjoy it. The servers and cook were nice enough- they have that Brooklyn brass to them, but nice enough all in all. We'll eat here again.

Would've been 5 star, but the surly waitress left something to be desired. Not sure why since other than 2 other people I was the only one in the place. I was however greeted warmly once I entered the door (I think he may have been the owner). This was the best slice of pizza in Orlando with just enough cheese and I love their sauce! Will be returning sooner that expected to get another slice or two...hell maybe a whole pie!

I'm so happy with this place! It reminds me of Frank's, a small pizzeria I worked at in RVA. Been to a few other places around Orlando/WinterPark and all are delicious in their own way, but this one reminded me of home. Cute tiny place, with Italian owners. Could use a little sprucing to attract more people, but it's a hidden gem for the locals.

  • Scott D.

This place makes a solid pizza. Fresh ingredients and a tasty, crispy crust. After all the greasy and soggy pizza I've had in Orlando this place is like a breath of fresh air. It's nothing fancy, just regular pizza made right.

  • Christian K.

Hands down my favorite pizza place in Orlando. I'm fortunate enough to live just a few blocks away! It's a big pie for what you would expect to pay, and I can't put my finger on why, but it's just the most delicious pizza I can remember.

Del-Dio's is a great locally-owned pizza place. I'm generally not a big pizza guy, but my office is nearby so I stumble in from time to time. Every time I have had their pizza, I have wanted more. That says a lot since pizza is usually at the bottom of the list of things I want to order. FYI - they also have a gluten-free pizza. I haven't had it myself since you can't buy it by the slice, but I think it is cool that they offer it as an option.

We are always looking for a good pizza spot...and we found it. We have three other favorite spots but this is our regular spot now. The crust is excellent and so is the sauce. Yes a 16" cheese is $14.95 but we don't think that is too much. We got a three topping pizza and it was $20. We feel that this is a good deal. Some other places charge as much as $3 per topping. I don't feel that the pizza is greasy. When I fold the pizza in half no grease drips down like with some other pizza places. And I don't have to blot any grease either. The man that makes all the pizzas is really nice and we enjoy talking with him while we get take out. We think he's the owner. We asked him if they deliver and they do. We live in the Lake Cherokee area and my mom lives near Leu Garden and he said they would deliver to both areas. The dinning room only seats 28 ppl. The staff is very friendly. And as far as the atmosphere...it's cute but I don't go there for the decor I go there for the pizza! My friend loves their Stromboli. They were voted best pizza on AOL's city search. They have two set daily lunch specials that are a good deal. Very filling!

My latest favorite for Italian food. They don't just have great pizzas, they have great pastas and other standard Italian dishes as well. Their location is a little unfortunate because of how hidden it is, but the interior is decorated very well, and once you're inside, it feels very cozy. Everyone that we've interacted with that worked there have been friendly. They were also attentive, which perhaps isn't difficult in a restaurant that is on the smaller side, but still very much appreciated. I actually witnessed quite a few regulars in the restaurant and it felt like I was a fly on the wall observing a family reunion. It was a comforting sight. Maybe I'll be their token Asian-Italian? Their pizzas are great! There is something about the crust that is special. It's thin, but not too thin. It's greasy, but doesn't make you feel guilty. It's salty, but just right. I've tried the Special and also the Hawaiian and both were great. I like the Hawaiian better, but they both had fresh ingredients and definitely hit my pizza cravings. I've also tried the garlic knots, which was excellent. It had the right amount of garlic. You still won't want to eat this if you're on a date, but it's not strong enough to clear up your nasal passages. We actually ended up keeping the leftover oil+garlic+parmesan "dressing" to dip our pizza crusts in. Yum! They make their pasta sauces fresh and their alfredo is so amazing that I would really like to buy from them instead of Publix or Olive Garden when I feel like having some at home. I can't wait to come back and try more of their dishes.

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU'RE ON A LOW CARB DIET!! They have wonderful home made focaccia and garlic knots! I'm sure their pizzas are great, but we've never had one... their entres are EXCELLENT! Everything we've tried has been terrific!

My husband and I had a delicious pizza here last night. The service was fast. There is plenty of room to comfortably eat inside, but I can see myself taking my pie to go next time. This is some of the better Brooklyn style pizza that I've had. The crust was not too thin, just right. We had the Bianca pizza. It had just the right ratio of ricotta and mozzarella and plenty of garlic. So delicious.

I've been past this place so many times that I didn't know that it existed. Tsk...tsk...shame on me....The pizza here is delicious! I only got the cheese pizza and that was very hot and flavorful. I also got to try the hot wings. They are huge and quite spicy. I didn't like the breading on them. Anyways back to the pleasing palate pizza......drool....I cant get enough of it. The staff treats you like family. They are really attentive and they check on you periodically. If you want great pizza with flavor and a crispy crust, this is the place to make it happen.

This is the best pizza I've come across in Orlando since our family relocated. I always joke with people that even bad pizza tastes ok. You know, you go to a party and they pick it up some pizza from someone's "pappa" and you eat it because it's there. Well you don't have to eat mediocre pizza, because you're in the mood. Pizza Del-Dio delivers a good pizza at a great price. I think the biggest problem they have is the location. The restaurant is a bit hidden, from the traffic along Colonial. It's tucked in the back of the shopping center. As a family we mainly do pick up. My older kids come in here every Friday night to pick up some pie. They look forward to their weekly routine and the best part is the staff treats them well. You can't say that most establishments would be so welcoming to teens. I wish I could say I've eaten a number of items off of their menu, but tried and true cheese pizza is what we frequently order. I love that there is a crunch and it's a bit sweet. I appreciate that it's not oozing in grease from the cheese. The restaurant had a special at one time that was a great price for pizza and wings. These wings were my favorite. They are fried to perfection. The salad was ok, I fine with that since I was just trying to get some greens in. Great food and fantastic service always make for a family favorite.

As my search for the "True NY Pizza Slice" continues, I found myself inside the establishment of Pizzeria Del-Dio. Upon entering, the staff was very friendly and accommodating to make you feel welcome. After reading quite many reviews, I thought that this place might be the gold mine that I had been searching for... sadly, it wasn't. The pizza had decent flavor and the dough appeared to be handmade, but there was 'something' that just seemed to be missing. I would like to give this place a second chance in the future. Maybe I just stopped in when they were having an 'off day' in the kitchen. All-in-all, my visit to Pizzeria Del-Dio was just another average pizza slice.

Coming from New York. I'm always on the search for good pizza. Pizzeria Del-Dio definitely comes close and is consistent in their quality. Their house dressing for salad is also very good. The service as well. The staff are always friendly and willing to chat for a minute. This place is fantastic!

I usually go for slices and usually they are fresh, rarely reheated. Antipasto and meatball subs are good too. Not fancy, but friendly & comfortable with good service. Best on weekends.

I walked in and saw NY memorabilia all over the place, so I assumed it was supposed to be good NY pizza. The female cashier with blue eyes was not polite to me at all and made no eye contact, and a woman who worked there reached right in front of me for papers on the counter and didn't make the slightest attempt to excuse herself. That certainly reminded me of NY. The cashier wasn't polite again after I got my 2 slices to go and the toppings on my pizza were the napkins that were stuck to my slices since she lazily threw them on right on top of it. It was fun having to remove a large portion of cheese from the slices that the napkins stuck to and I would have said something if I had seen it occur before I had left. After all that fun, the pizza was okay. Not the worst in Orlando at all, but definitely not the best. I would rather take the trip out to Waterford Lakes and go to Goodfellas any day. I wish I had taken a picture of the napkins stuck to my food when I had taken it out of the bag, but I'm a Yelp rookie.

My review for Pizzeria Del-Dio comes naturally just like wonderful pizza comes naturally for the humble little pizzeria tucked neatly away into the corner of the shopping on Colonial near just east of Maguire. On my first visit, I started off with a sampling of the garlic knots. They were abundant, flavorful and drenched in delicious garlic butter. The garlic knots were the right amount of crispy and doughty. The accompanying marinara was sweet, tangy and warm. Yum! I then ordered an entire 16" cheese pizza for myself so that I could really test out the NYness of this pizza. Sometimes, when you order slices, the reheating disrupts the cheese and crust. Boy, was I glad I ordered that whole, steaming hot, cheesy deliciousness! The gods started singing, the angels chimed in on their trumpets and the heavens opened....well, maybe that's just me being dramatic. :-) Regardless, Pizzeria Del-Dio is one of the better pizzerias in the area. On a scale of 1-5, I rate the following: Crust: 4 ( I love the taste but I wanted it just a tad bit more floppy) How the cheese melts and taste: 5 Sauce: 4.5 Service: 5

This place is amazing! There is nothing like New York pizza and everyone swears it is because of the water. When I'm missing the busy city- Del Dios is the place to go! No more will you be disappointed after going to a "New York Pizza" impersonator here in Florida. Del Dios hails from NYC and I believe they ship the NYC water to them! ;) The crust on the pizza is crunchy, thin and perfect. They have many types of pizza to choose from. My favorite is the white with fresh mozzarella. The menu list is quite extensive from calzones to subs and lasagna to mussels and calamari. The pasta e fagoli is phenomenal with huge cloves of garlic! You cannot go wrong with anything you order here. This food is simply delicious home-style Italian NYC food!

My go-to for lunch any day of the week - and with the low prices I can afford to visit often. The Italian dressing is house made and complements my Monday tuna salads well. The lunch special is a great deal - a healthy helping of the daily pasta dish, rolls and a salad for around $7. Hard working people and I am happy to bring them business!

I only like New York style pizza. This severely limits the amount of pizza we eat in my household, because of the difficulty in finding good New York style pizza in Downtown Orlando. Good luck getting the good stuff delivered. Then I found Pizzeria Del Dio. A quaint little restaurant, its located in the back of a shopping center right off Colonial Drive, in the same shopping center, and many people might miss it. Plain and simple, the pizza is delicious, and is exactly how I like it. Thin, lighter sauce, crispy crust: a true New York slice. When we want pizza to go, we order from Pizzeria Del Dio. There are a few things that are a bit disappointing. The mushrooms are clearly from a can for toppings, and I love some mushroom pizza. Also, the garden salad, which we like to order with our pizza, leaves much to be desired. But the main attraction here is the plain, cheese pizza. If you are looking for the best New York style in town, you can't go wrong with Pizzeria Del Dio.

I first noticed this place on Yelp in early July and liked that it had such high ratings. When I saw the check-in special for a free beverage, I thought I'd grab lunch and stay on this side of town. The place was clean. The guy making the pizza had attitude. An old school scruffiness. There was one waitress and only one table when I went at 1:45 PM. At one point the waitress calls back to the kitchen, "Here comes Bob." Bob and the Gruff Pizza Guy talked and I ease-dropped. They talked about how business is. Gruff Pizza Guy said he's working 80-90 hours a week. (Damn, hang in there, man.) Now for the food. I ordered two slices. I'm a crust guy. The crust was thin and crisp. It didn't bend when you picked it up. I like that. Ratios of sauce, cheese and toppings all worked. One slice had pepperoni and the other meatball. The pepperoni was the better of the two. Figuring that the toppings were added to a ready-made cheese pie, it was good. I'd go back and give it another whirl and can easily see my rating of the place go higher.

Visit 7/19/12. I came based on other Yelpers, and they were right. I had the veggie personal pizza, delicious, though I think the mushrooms were canned. I could see marinated mushrooms maybe, or fresh would work best. Service was great, prices were reasonable. It was a little hard to find. It's in the shopping center with Sports Authority on E. Colonial, across from McGuire. The restaurant is in the west leg of shops perpendicular to Colonial, but faces south, towards the Executive Airport. Definitely worth the visit, I will be back. Service was attentive and excellent.

First visit, not impressed, just had a bad day...thankfully, we went back and have been back ever since and actually think it's one of the best pizza spots in Orlando. Just to mention, the staff is usually great, but if there could've been a fifth star, it would have been due to great staff every time we've dined there, not the case. So four is the number and maybe if our future visits get better with staff, we'll revisit and bump up the star rating. Pizza: This is in my opinion, the reason to come here. Other items, sandwiches, specifically, Philly, nothing to write home about, greasy and the bread was hard. The pizza is the ticket as we like NY style pizza, crust is with great flavor, so you can eat it rather than discard it. The sauce is just enough, mild tang, and the cheese seems like whole milk Mozz, not sure if it is, but I think so. Toppings have been generous and quality. Overall, love the pizza here, wish they were closer to my house.

  • Ricky L.

The pizza at this place is pretty bangin. The crust is thin and crispy, yet actually tastes like bread rather than cardboard and the cheese is fresh and yummy. There is surprisingly alot of bad pizza places in Orlando and Del Dio's thankfully is one that does pizza justice. And of course i fold it in half to eat it. Chomp!! The only thing that sucks about this place is that its hidden! in a plaza, next to HH Gregg on Colonial . If you get off the Crystal Lake exit on SR 408 and go north you'll see it on your right, right before the Colonial Drive light. They also serve quite a few other dishes here, so I will definitely try to come by and check it out again.

Best sicilian pizza I've ever had! The owner is straight out of Brooklyn, and is very personable. Although difficult to find at first, they have great specials. Highly recommend this little hidden gem.

So yummy! I eat here on my lunch hour all the time! If you're in a hurry, order your pizza by the slice and pair it with some brewed iced tea (unsweet only though) Or try a hot sandwich! Want something more traditional? Their pizzas and stromboli - I vote stromboli! - are fantastic, and the pastas are pretty good, too. The side salads are typical, but I've always gotten one with fresh ingredients! Oh, and the staff is always very welcoming and friendly. A fantastic lunch or casual dinner restaurant.

What sets Pizzeria Del-Dio's NY-style pizzas apart is its crust. They consistently produce a crispy and flavorful crust that taste amazing. When you enjoy the pizza fresh (ideally in the restaurant or within 5-10 minutes after taking it home), It has that special crunch--not unlike the sound of a fresh-baked baguette. That texture combined with fresh pizza ingredients is a winning-combination. For pizza, this place is awesome. Get on their mailing list to receive great pizza deals. My favorite deal is their $5 personal pizza with unlimited toppings. That offer can't be beat!

I've only had their take-out, but I've had it numerous times. I went back and forth deciding between 3-stars and 4. In the end I gave them 4 for the their customer service and friendly, family vibe. LOCATION: Wow, are they hidden away. Yes, they're in a large strip mall with some big-boxes, but they're on the back side, hidden away from Colonial. Fortunately, they ALWAYS ask if you know where they are, if not they'll give you directions. DECOR: It's a tiny Italian restaurant with primarily take-out business. Don't expect much. It's clean and pleasant. FOOD: What I'll give them points for is consistency. The food is decent, and to be fair I've only really had pizza and onion rings and a salad. It's about what you would expect from this kind of place. On the upside, my pizzas have never been burnt, undercooked, too cheesy, not cheesy enough. It's consistently "decent" pizza. On the down side? Canned mushrooms. Seriously? This makes me wanna go fungal on the place. Is it THAT hard to stock and use fresh mushrooms? The canned ones taste like ass and look sad. SERVICE: Wow, everyone here is nice, grateful for your business, and quick. It seems like a family-run operation, my favorite kind to support. In the end, I don't think it's the kind of place you'd drive across town for, but if you live/work in the neighborhood it seems to me one of the better options for some takeout pizza/Italian. When we're working late and ordering dinner, nine times out of ten I'm calling Del-Dio for some takeout. EDIT: Did ya see that? Owner posted a reply letting me know they have fresh mushrooms too! That's customer service! My opinion: support this family-owned and operated business. Good people. Good food.

Solid, solid pizza. Got the personal size Meat Supreme which is pretty big for a personal pizza. Two not very hungry people could split it. I couldn't even finish it all. The Pasta Faggoli soup was the best I've ever had because it's the only I've ever had. It was REALLY good. If I ever have it again from somewhere else I'll compare it to this one. My girlfriend got a side house salad and she said it was good for a side salad. It had cucumbers, olives, tomato and onion on it - all crap I don't eat, but she liked it.

I was craving some pizza (well, that's not news) the other day and decided to finally make a stop in at Del-Dio. I'd been planning to for some time, based on the existing reviews here on Yelp, but procrastinated for a few months. As other reviewers have mentioned, Del-Dio is located in the rear of a shopping center, so it likely is easy to miss. I almost didn't find it myself, to be honest. I'm glad I did make the trip and find it, though. As I entered the restaurant, a woman approached me and asked if I was just going to get something to go - I said that I was, so she went back to what she was doing and I ordered from a man behind the counter. I kept it simple; just two plain slices. I was tempted to also get this ENORMOUS slice of Sicilian pizza in the display case, but opted not to. That slice of Sicilian was about the length of my forearm, and maybe thicker. Haha. I may have to try one of those slices next time, though I imagine one would be enough. My two plain slices cost $4-something, if I remember correctly, and were served exceptionally hot. After paying, I went to my car and took a bite of one slice - wow! This is great pizza. I couldn't resist taking the one bite of a slice ... but, after doing that, I just decided to finish it all right then and there since it was so hot and delicious. The pizza wasn't floppy or difficult to hold/fold, the sauce and cheese both were great and the crust was just as I like it - crispy and, at the same time, chewy. Perfect! I hope to be back here again soon. The staff is very friendly and the food is, from what I can tell from just two plain slices, excellent. I'm sure the other menu selections are equally as tasty. If you're able to find this place (it's a little bit of a challenge), enjoy! Highly recommended. I'm definitely siding with the majority of the reviewers/reviews and giving this the full 5 stars, for now. I can't imagine my review will change for the worse after subsequent visits, though.

I wasn't familiar with this little spot until I saw an ROTD for it earlier in the week. After reading the other reviews I decided it was worth a try. I walked into Del-Dio just after noon on a Saturday, and the place was doing some big business, even though the location is a bit desolate. I had already viewed the menu online and had decided on a Personal Special pizza. Since I occasionally stop by Hess for a gas-station personal pizza when rushed, I expected a very small pie. So I decided I'd better start with an app of calamari. I'm glad I did. It was just the way I like calamari: very crispy, and they didn't scrimp on my favorite parts, the arms and tentacles. But the personal pizza was nothing like what I get at Hess -- it must have been two and a half times the size, nicely loaded with pepperoni, peppers, onions, mushrooms, meatballs and sausage. Ah, leftovers! I'm not an expert on pizza, but this was very good. It had a slightly "greasy" taste which Scott Joseph mentioned, but oddly enough it was a good type of greasy (I can't really explain that). The pizza alone would merit at least four stars, but with those ample arms and tentacles in the calamari, I'll push it up to a five.

Used to work downtown and come to this spot for years. Back when circuit city was still in this shopping strip. The pizza was always good at this location, back in 2008 I guess they were sold to the current owners. The pizza was still very good and affordable. Whenever I am near fashion square or Barnes and noble I sometimes come back and enjoy a good slice of pizza. Glad that the quality hasn't changed here.

I ordered Delivery and the pizza was delivered hot and fresh. The "garlic bread" was 2 hot dog buns with garlic spread..$2.50 I hated it...my boyfriend like it. We ordered the Special Pizza wtih pepperoni, mushrooms, meatballs, onions, and peppers. The pizza crust itself was very good, nice and crispy even with all the toppings. The pizza itself....well...not my thing. It tasted like soap to me. The pizza was VERY greasy. The mushrooms were out of a can. My boyfriend thought the pizza was really good...but this is my review. The storefront itself is hidden on the backside of a strip mall. I have driven by before and joked that it was a Mafia storefront only because I have never seen anyone eating or even in the building. I will give this place another shot..only because my boyfriend liked it so much. Maybe I was having an off tastebud day?

I have been really into trying new pizza places lately, especially ones that sell by the slice. Pizzeria del-dio did not disappoint; their crust is thin but nice and chewy at the top, and the sauce/cheese ratio on the cheese slices is just about perfect. The only complaint I have is their method of carryout for slices. My slices were put on plates and slid inside a paper bag, which quickly got tons of grease stains on my drive to work. That's my only minor issue, though; I'll definitely be back again!

I'm not sure if this is the same Del-Dio that use to be in Casselberry but, the food just isn't as good. We went there last night for my wife's birthday and we were all disappointed. The service was fine but the food seemed cheap and rubbery. At least the birra was good.

My pizza here was delicious! This place is catered toward takeout but has a small dining room. The garlic knots were delicious, as was my meat lovers pizza. The place is a little hard to find if you are not familiar with the area. You would easily miss it from Colonial, but if you are coming up Maguire from the 408 it is by the light right before Colonial at the back of the strip mall where Bed Bath and Beyond and HHGregg are.

This has got to be the best pizza in downtown and most likely all of central Florida. The crust has such a nice bread flavor, I could eat it on its own. Service is great and goes hand in hand with the mastery of pizza making in the kitchen. You will not be disappointed!

They don't have a lunch menu but they offer a different lunch special every day so if you don't like the lunch special you have to basically pay dinner price. 16 inch cheese pizza is a high $14.95. Virtually no atmosphere which always works for me but the food doesn't offset the lack of decor. Sauce is acidic. Eggplant parmigiana was outright disgusting. I almost sent the product to a science lab to see if they could put it under a microscope to prove to me there was actual eggplant. All I tasted was gnarly greasy breading which left an after taste in my mouth the entire afternoon. The pizza isn't bad although overpriced. This city is absolutely starving for decent independent Italian restaurants; this place is part of the famine.

The best New York pizza, meatballs and ziti , and garlic knots in Orlando. Friendly staff with great service. Food is consistent every time we dine here.

Consistently good pizza. Delivery and dine-in are both excellent with food arriving quick and hot. This is my go-to, hole-in-the wall pizza spot.

I've never eaten at the actual location, but I've ordered take out a couple times and it's been very good. When I went to pick up last week, the restaurant was packed. Be advised: there's a Check-In Offer available, but it has expired, and they won't honor it.

This place makes a solid pizza. Fresh ingredients and a tasty, crispy crust. After all the greasy and soggy pizza I've had in Orlando this place is like a breath of fresh air. It's nothing fancy, just regular pizza made right.

Hands down my favorite pizza place in Orlando. I'm fortunate enough to live just a few blocks away! It's a big pie for what you would expect to pay, and I can't put my finger on why, but it's just the most delicious pizza I can remember.

I consider myself a pizza snob, and I really enjoyed this pizza. It is clear that it was handmade, and very traditional New York style pizza. The place was small and unassuming, but clean and the server was friendly. It did take a little while for the pizza to come out, but it was well worth the wait.

Coming from New York. I'm always on the search for good pizza. Pizzeria Del-Dio definitely comes close and is consistent in their quality. Their house dressing for salad is also very good. The service as well. The staff are always friendly and willing to chat for a minute. This place is fantastic!

Fast and friendly. Large portions, so be aware. White pizza was special.

I'm not sure if this is the same Del-Dio that use to be in Casselberry but, the food just isn't as good. We went there last night for my wife's birthday and we were all disappointed. The service was fine but the food seemed cheap and rubbery. At least the birra was good.

Ordered the "Special" personal pizza for delivery and it was absolutely delicious. This was my first time ordering from Pizzeria Del-Dio and I'm completely sold.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
