Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Wanted to venture out and try something different. The name sounded intriguing, pizza burger?? I have driven by this place many times but was sadly a little disappointed. The food we ordered was ok, no ooohs or ahhhs. We tried the columbian pizza burger. The meat was ok and the fries inside the burger was stale. However, the pizza dough was decent. Now on to the arepa....I've had better. Decided on the shredded beef arepa. The corn bread was too soft and broke apart easily. Couldn't really pick it up without the dough falling apart so had to use a fork. Maybe just maybe I'll go back and try something else.

Stopped here tonite for dinner. I had the Colombian pizza burger and my hubby asked for a buffalo chicken calzone. The server was very nice, but I ordered tostones with my burger instead of files and a beef empanada on the side, and she forgot them. I got the burger with fries. She wasn't writing anything down, but I figured she would remember everything. The pizza burger was good, the patty looked kinda pale but it was ok. Wasn't gooey with cheese like the pics on here but it was pretty good. The sauces are awesome, I liked the green one. My husbands calzone was cheesy and HUGE. Very tasty. It was slightly spicy (buffalo) but you could still taste the ricotta and mozzarella cheese in it. All in all, not bad. The atmosphere is nice and airy with tvs and lively music playing. I would stop by again maybe.

Stopped here and tried the shredded chicken pizza burger and my guest tried the shredded beef pizza burger. They were both AWESOME! Beer was super cheap. Small place but the service was good and the bread that the pizza burgers was wrapped in was baked fresh, OUTSTANDING!!!!

So I came here for lunch this week based on a recommendation from a coworker. This used to be called Nostra Pizza Gourmet. I am not sure if they are the same owners, but they do serve Pizza, Burgers and the infamous Pizza Burger. As you walk in there is a counter full of yummy looking pastries that are actually shipped from Columbia. We started our meal with the Roscon especial. It's a desert that was filled with guava, and caramel..Yum! Now for the main course...I really wanted to try their namesake, so went with the Colombian Pizza Burger. I asked if this was a Colombian specialty, but was told it was actually something the chef just invented one day. It is basically a burger patty wrapped in pizza dough. Pretty cool! You can get your meal with chips (tortilla chips) or fries for $1 more. I would go with the tortilla chips as there salsa is amazing and fresh. There are also other non standard condiments for your burgers on the tables. The burgers are really great, and very filling. The only down side here is the canned soft drinks. I really prefer fountain drinks in a restaurant. #Yelp100

I'm in love with Colombian hot dogs and wanted to try this place out since it was close to where I live. I got the specialty hot dog; basically, everything in a Colombian hot dog plus coleslaw. Unfortunately, they didn't have the coleslaw so they just chopped up some onions and tomatoes to add the crunch factor. I was a little sad but the good thing was....it was delicious! For about $5, I got the hot dog, fries, and a can of soda since it was their lunch special. The price simply cannot be beat. I was full and satisfied after all of that food. My boyfriend and I will be back for those infamous burgers!!

uhh disappointing... I'm usually opened to small non-chain restaurants in hope that they have unique flavors and put extra love in their dishes. Casa nostra wasn't the case. From service to food - everything was blah... We got the main dish before appetizers. Calzone was not better than if it was a frozen one. Jamaican beef patties actually were the frozen kind - the server wasn't hiding that one. So was cannoli - but I found that out after getting my order... Took pizza home with - and it wasn't anything memorable either. Will not go back ever - there are way better pizza places around.

Wow! We love the Columbian pizza! It was our first time trying the place and we are glad we did. The taste of the chorizo and the crunch of the pork rind was beyond scrumptious! They serve this pizza with guacamole. We found the taste of the pizza great without the guacamole. We also tried the mild wings. They were good and average size. Like the others said, this place is tucked in a small strip center behind a gas station. Try it, you will be glad you did!

  • Erika D.

Love this place!! We are spoiled with this yummy hidden non-chain gem here in the area. Don't be fooled by the strange location (behind a gas station on Chickasaw and Curry Ford). The Colombian Pizza is fantastic and even comes with a side of guacamole which goes great on top of the pizza. Must eat!

Was great when they first opened. Ordered pizza from there couple times a week. The place went down hill fast and now it's like cardboard with sauce on it!

  • Shay M.

Omg, amazing! So much better then I could have expected! Love love love! Eat it! I had the Colombian, and my mom had the samba. Both amazing! I'd like to go back so I can try the hotdogs!

  • Amy T.

When I was told the wait was 15 minutes, I didn't know what he meant was 35. When I asked for no salt on my fries, I didn't know he meant with salt and extra seasoning. On the bright side, the burger itself wasn't bad. However, it was my first & last.

  • Annie A.

We got the columbian pizza burger and mexican pizza burger and also the guava cheese pastries. Portions are huge. The meat was seasoned but very dry. For .99 extra you get fries similar in quantity and taste to Wendy's .99 value meal fries. The winners were the sauces! The rosada is a chipotle tasting sauce that made up for the dry patty and the garlic sauce was good too. Skip the guava cheese pastries. Or...OR get yelp's $5 for $10 deal and basically you try it for free. THANKS YELP!!!

  • Amanda M.

This pizza burger is DELICIOUS! ----HOWEVER---- DO NOT BELIEVE THE HOURS ON YELP. It says open from 8:00AM TO 11:30PM, and it's NEVER open until 12 Noon or even a little later. The only thing I dislike about this place. And the empanadas were a tad bit cold INSIDE after being freshly made. :/ BUT the Colombian Pizza Burger is hands down, THE BEST creation ever!

The food was great. Fast and the cashier was awesome. The hot sauce wasn't hot but the food had a lot of flavor so it didn't really matter much

Not gonna lie, this place looked real good. The photos of their food made my mouth water. I ordered a regular Colombian pizza burger and a coke. The whole thing cost me about 9.65 with the can of coke being $1.25 (really? 1.25 for a can of coke?). I also had to wait almost 30 minutes to get my food and the place was dead. I could understand if it was busy but no it wasn't. When I got my food, it looked NOTHING like the pictures. The patty was a small, pre-made Sysco patty that had a bland taste to it. The potato strings were crumpled ruffles. The fries tasted ok. They were probably the best part along with the sauces. Only reason I give it 2 stars is because the cashier was nice otherwise it would have received a one. It just did not taste good at all.

  • Drew P.

Weird location, awesome food. A little bit out of the way, but you'll be glad you stopped in here! Colombian-style hot dogs, and the coup de grâce--the glorious, glorious pizza burger. Is it pizza? Is it a burger? Science can't quite explain it, but it's verifiably amazing.

  • Nick S.

Told us they ran out of chorizo ( Chorizo!!!!!) after we had already ordered when there's a Colombian shop across the street, made us wait forever for the pizzas and then we finally get home with it and they didn't even give us the guac that supposed to come with our pizzas. I would never pay another penny for poor service like that.

  • Liz G.

I thought the food was ok but nothing special, my boyfriend however really did enjoy it. I had the shredded chicken pizza burger and the chicken just felt like it lacked flavor. The chicken empanada was very good thou. The fries weren't great, like school cafeteria fries. I would probably go again but try something else, if that's a miss then I wouldn't try a third time.

Awesome food! A+++++ TRY their Columbian Pizza Burger!

I have been here a few times. I like that it's never crowded and you can seat yourself. Their ethnic food is good and even the hot wings are too. I would definitely go again. I love hole in the wall, off the beating path restaurants. That's where you usually get the best food, and best service.

Pretty interesting place. They have a interesting combination of flavors going on here and they altogether make up a pretty impressive burger. The service was pretty good and the food wasn't too expensive. I had a great experience and look forward to coming back for sure.

A group of friends of mine and I went to Pizza Burger for the first time today and had a horrible experience. To start off our meal, the waitress had no idea about the items on the menu. We asked about a few things on the menu and she had no idea. One example was I asked what the Nostra sauce was, an ingredient listed on several of their dishes, and her response was "its the green sauce" and she couldn't provide any further detail except some people order it on the side for their fries. Then we ordered our food. One of us ordered a pizza burger, another ordered wings, the third person ordered a Philly cheesesteak and I ordered a calzone. We had also ordered an appetizer of empanadas as well. When the empanada arrived half of them were cold on the inside. About 15 minutes after that, the pizza burger arrived along with the wings. One of my friends and myself still didn't have our food. It wasn't until about 15 minutes after this point that the third person in our party received his Philly cheesesteak. Now I am still waiting for my meal while I watch my friends eat there food. 15 additional minutes later, now 30 minutes after the first people in our party received their food, I still am waiting for my calzone. My friends had finished their food at this point and it had been 45 minutes since we ordered. What was taking so long was beyond me as there were only 2 other people in the restaurant, one guy eating alone and one guy waiting for a to-go order that came in after us. I got feed up with waiting considering my friends already finished their meals and I had no reason to want to stay. I canceled my order at that point. I was then asked if I wanted the food to go instead since it was just about done cooking, with the intention that I would still be charged for this order. I declined as the point was I didn't want to pay for the order. I had waited a ridiculous amount of time, everyone else was already done, and the service was absurd. I would have figured that they would have tried to offer the calzone on the house to try to make up for the service. Instead, I was given a bill for the soda I ordered when they split our checks. I do not plan to go there again and recommend to others to do the same. My suggestions for management would be first the kitchen to learn better time management. If the kitchen had known the calzone would take 30-45 minutes (although, I can't see why it would take more than 20 minutes for prep and bake time), he should have put that into the oven first before he started preparing the food for the others in our party. Second, the staff need to be trained to know the items on their menu.

Just went for the first time ever and I think I'm going to become a regular and my friend is contemplating possibly stopping by tomorrow after work. We were curious as to what was taking so long, but our memories were instantly erased as we were presented the food. I ordered the Columbian burger and fries with a mango juice. My heart started pounding, my mouth watering, my pants tightened as I took my first bite. My eyes dilated, I swear I got high off each and every bite. I've never tasted this combination of flavors ever. I normally try to save leftovers for later and I couldn't help myself. I savored each and every bite, wishing I had ordered more. The mango juice was also definitely freshly squeezed and delicious as well. Will be coming back soon. The wait was a little longer than anticipated, but it was worth it, this burger was baked like a pizza after all.
