We came here for breakfast and I pretty sure we should have gotten something else on the menu. I got the Cuban omelette and holy carbs. You get a tiny omelette, with basically half a loaf of tostada, and French fries. The tostada was bigger then the omelette! We did order the mozzarella empanada and it was delicious. That with the cafe con leche was delish. I honestly would have been happy with those two items. I think I will be back to try something else.

I may not be an expert on Cuban cuisine, but I've had my fair shre of Cuban sandwiches, and I love rice and beans. Somehow, old Cuban Cafe doesn't quite serve what I have come to expect in these two dishes. I stopped by on a weekday afternoon with a couple of coworkers to have some lunch. Once we were seated, we were all rather surprised that there isn't a moderately priced lunch special. In fact, there isn't even a lunch section on menu. The Cuban sandwich costs about $9, and comes with fries only. It would certainly be nice if they offered a half sandwich with a choice of plantains or beans and rice as a side, for say $7. There was plenty of meat on the sandwich, but the bread was just lightly oiled, and mildly pressed. I'm so used to Cuban sandwiches in Miami & Tampa that have been slathered with oil/butter, and pressed till everything is crispy as hell. On top of a complete lack of a lunch menu, the service here could use some work. Our waitress was friendly, however our food took an awfully long time to come out. There were only three of us, and we all ordered the Cuban sandwich. Meanwhile, a table of six which arrived after us, all got their food before we did. I'm not sure where the fault lies here, but it wasn't appreciated. There aren't too many Cuban specific restaurants near UCF, so I am a little disheartened that old Cuban Cafe didn't work out. Hopefully, they can improve, or perhaps someone else can.

Finally, an authentic Cuban restaurant on the east side of town. I went for breakfast this morning, and almost thought I was back in my hometown of Miami. I order the Bistec a caballo for $8.95; talk about some bang for your buck. This typical Cuban breakfast consists of a thin palomilla steak, fried onions, two fried eggs, pressed Cuban toast, french fries, and café con leche. That's right, all of that for just $8.95. Others in my party ordered their breakfast special for $4.99, which includes 2 fried or scrambled eggs, choice of breakfast meat, Cuban toast, fries, and café con leche. The entire breakfast for three came out to less than $30 bucks with tip. I can't wait to go back for dinner!

Very good and well priced , the service is also very friendly. The decor is also very well makes you feel like you are in a little part of Havana in Orlando . The food is not amazing but for what you pay for its well worth it . The flan is also very good I look forward to returning soon

This is everything I look for in a Cuban Restaurant! Great waitstaff, delicious coffee, perfectly cooked mudoros and amazing simple dishes. I can not say enough good about this place. I can't wait to be back!

If you are looking for authentic Cuban food, you won't find anything equal to or better than Old Cuban Cafe outside of the 305 area code. My husband and I are regulars here, and this place put a significant dent in my budget in the first couple of months after it opened. The food is very well-priced. Sandwiches run about $10 or less. Portions are huge. They serve breakfast all day. $6 gets you eggs, Cuban bread, bacon, and a café con leche. Today for lunch, my brother-in-law had a pan con bistec sandwich. Huge sandwich, fluffy bread, with fries brought in a little fryer with your sandwich. I had the bistec empanizado, which took up an entire plate by itself, plus an additional plate of white rice and black beans and yuca frita (also served in a cute little fryer). Service is always terrific, and the owner makes a point to come around and check on every customer.

Very nice family run place with all of the Cuban entrees you'd be looking for. Staff were kind and didn't try to push beer or dessert as a lot of restaurants do. Recommend getting the hot sauce as it's home made and the cheese flan, too (all desserts are home made). Portions are pretty large and prices tended to be about 15-20% higher than you'd see in neighborhood places with a similar menu, but not a surprise for where they are in the tourist area.

Overall, okay. Stopped in for take out breakfast. Ordered the Huevos Fritos plater which was okay. Ordered the Criello Sandwich was okay. Black and Cafe con leche coffee was very good (#4). Waitress was very nice and helpful. Never saw the sugar we requested in the bag so she disappointed here. Because of their coffee, I rated them well and overlooked the okay experience for the remaining items. Will try the cuban sandwich next time since it is something they should do well.

I'll start off by saying, I'm from Hialeah....I know Cuban food. Abuela's frijoles can never be beat...but Old Cuban Cafe comes in a close second. I first started going to the location on goldenrod for their croquetas (A MUST) and then found this location closer to home. We had carne ripiada (shredded beef) and their picadillo. I don't even like picadillo, and it may just now be my favorite Cuban dish. So glad this little spot is close to home and the staff is so great, too!

Food is good, but service is slow slow slow. Seems like they'd rather stand around the register and chat than attend to the customers.

I love this place so much!!! The food is always amazing! I would definitely recommend their empanadas. They're the best I've ever had. The ambiance is cute and perfect for a date night or business lunch. Breakfast is served ALL DAY! I frequent this place at least once a week.

So far been here two since the new owner took over. Now it's not a Mexican restaurant that also serves Cuban food. It's a real Cuban place to really enjoy. The artwork, smell of real good food, surrounds this lovely little place. The service is great and the place is filled with Cubans (a great sign) enjoying great food, and laughter. The only thing out of place here aside from high tech registers is there is no one rolling cigars. The owner is super friendly and you can see takes pride in her Cuban taste of heaven restaurant.

I love Cuban food, and if you do too then you should definitely stop by and check it out. The thing to remember in particular about this restaurant is that the food brought out tastes as if Abuelita was back in the kitchen cooking it up herself. Many of their items are made from scratch like their croquetas. Usually I go in expecting it to be the frozen Goya kind and I was stunned when they arrived. They had that hand molded-not so perfect look and the bread crumbs used I'm told is day old cuban bread. That is what you want to look for, they go the extra mile to make items themselves instead of settling for the frozen stuff. I've tried several items here, the breakfasts are delicious, their ajiaco(Spanish style stew) is stellar, but I think the big hit here is the ropa vieja. Everytime I go and I glance at what other people are eating, that will undoubtedly be on the table. The only minor issue I've seen with this particular location is that service can be slow, don't make plans to eat here if you're on a time restraint.

I love this place!! The decor is authentic and nostalgic. The service is warm and friendly and the food is delicious! Best black beans I've had in awhile. I ordered the omelet with platanos maduro and it came with a huge and perfectly toasted piece of Cuban bread. Their cafe con leche was perfect. I wanted to give it 5 stars however there was a fly that disturbed our meal. It would not leave us alone and kept flying around our food....so I had to take off a star. Otherwise, awesome dining experience!!

I actually had not planned to try this place today. I had planned to try another place my daughter asked me to check out. That place was so bad I had to walk out and find a new place to go for lunch. That however made up my mind to come here today... I am GLAD I did... A few weeks back I was told that there was a new Cuban Restaurant right up the road so I added it to my list. I was told that the Pulled Pork was incredible and that it was "Authentic" Cuban food. Well since I have been to MANY Cuban places during my trips to Miami, I was REALLY excited. I will say that they did a great job decorating the place. It really had a charming feel to it. One of the servers greeted me at the door and let me sit where I wanted since it was well after the lunch rush. I chose to sit at a booth and because several people walked in all at once, it took a few minutes for her to bring me a menu and she took my drink order which was of course unsweet Iced Tea with Lime. When she returned with my Tea, she asked me if I was ready to order. I chose to see what she would recommend and she immediately recommended the pulled pork. It came with Yucca and rice with beans. I told her that I look forward to some good Cuban food whenever I go to Miami and to just bring be what you feel I will enjoy the most. She looked stunned but said OK and off she went. She returned a while later with some homemade rolls topped with a garlic butter and OH MY GOD were they good. They were light and fluffy just like you would expect them to be. A few minutes later she brought me the rest of my meal. That plate was picture perfect and I just had to take a picture of it. I began with the Yucca and it was cooked just right and has garlic butter in the dish with it that just gave it an incredible flavor. I mashed up the Yucca with it and it was some of the best Yucca I have tasted thus far. I took a bite of the pulled pork topped with grilled onions. It was a wee bit dry but the seasoning was just well seasoned. I cut up the onion and mixed it with the pork and the flavor of the onion really set off the pork. I then tried the rice and beans. The rice was just a wee bit dry but it was fluffy and the beans were cooked just right. In spite of the pork and rice being a bit dry to me, I will chalk it up to the time I showed up in the day. I am sure they are prepped for the lunch and dinner rush and I arrived about 3:45 in the afternoon. Just to be fair... I cleaned that plate! I was too full for dessert but I did indulge in a cup of Cuban Espresso. The cup and saucer for the espresso was a great touch. I normally drink my espresso without sugar but knew that it would come with sugar since that is how I have always had it served to me. SPOT ON! If I had more time I would have had a second cup! I will DEFINITELY be coming back to this place and the Cuban Sandwiches I saw being served are my next item of interest. Black Bean Soup and a Cuban sandwich is what I am coming back for Carmen and I WILL ask for you to serve me again... You really made my dining experience memorable with your charming personality...

First revew: I have passed both their locations for years and I wondered why I didn't try them sooner. I will be upfront and say this is no Miami Cuban food. The sandwiches, dessert, lemonade, and espresso were okay. The place was clean and well decorated. All the staff were super nice and attentive. Parking was good and no wait time to be seated. Prices were more than fair. Give it a try. Small places like this deserve our local support. Second review: Food was cold on arrival. Service was non existent. And the "Cuban" sandwich had no flavor as if it were made by a Puerto Rican. Gross! Next time I want a Cuban, I'll drive to Miami. Service was so opposite of my first time there.

Not a fan. Lacking atmosphere, a little dingy looking. Some food was forgotten (maybe a language disconnect). Could use better lighting, possibly some music to help.

Great food! The cafe con leche is amazing! Just the way I had it in Miami! Went here for breakfast and it won't be my last time. The Cuban Omelet was amazing. The staff is very nice. The portions are pretty big, well for me anyway, I like to pick at my food. However, it was so good I almost ate the whole thing at once. Come try it out! You won't be disappointed. :)

Great local Cuban cafe located in a strip plaza next to Broadway pizza on colonial(sr50) and alafaya. The prices are great and portions are big(enough to share)! Service can be slow at times when they get a little busy. I recommend the cafe con leche with a lechon asado sub or the authentic Cuban! Food just as good as the Cuban food you get in Miami!

As far as Cuban food goes this restaurant is pretty good. The decor is really cute. The service is top notch. We had three different people greet and serve us. They're fast and friendly. I had the Creole sandwich with bacon. It was good but was slightly heavy on the cheese. I had the cafe con leche which was great. I'll definitely be back for lunch or dinner.

Looking for a different restaurant while visiting. Discovered this place and were not disappointed, for sure. Fried ripe plantains were glorious and worth the trip; creamy, sweet and just a bit tart. Coconut flan was as good as I remember from a sweet Cuban mom of an old college roommate. Classic Cuban sandwich, perfect. Don't miss this place!

It took me back to Miami and eating true, authentic Cuban food!

I love their cafe con tostadas. Not always impressed with their special of the day but it'd better than most cuban places since there aren't that many. I had their steak sandwich and wasn't too impressed. I guess I was comparing it to the Miami ones I had. Overall the food is decent. I love the decor.

First visit, pretty good. My only real complaint was that my Cuban sandwich was not pressed moreso - this is a big requirement to me. I will probably try this place again in the future to try something else.

This is a hidden gem. You walk in a feel a little Habana has just arrived to east Orlando. the food is excellent and I loved their Cuban sandwich. The fires are hand cut and very tasty. It all tastes freshly made. very well done. If you are looking for good Cuban food on this side of town, this is the place. The space is a bit tight and the parking competes with other places in the same strip mall. I have to agree with the other reviews, my uncle is Cuban and the coffee here is not Cuban coffee; its American-ized or something.

  • Peter J. S.

Absolutely amazing food and our Server Claudia was delightful! I ordered the Churrasco medium with a side of congri and Yuca con mojo. The Yuca is seasoned and prepared beautifully. My dinner companion had the Lechon Asado sandwich which is huge, piled high with 'melt in your mouth' pork and delicious french fries. What constitutes a good ff, clean oil and a quality product not overcooked. I highly recommend for an appetizer 'Lindas Cubana.' It gives you an opportunity to try a variety of great food like fried Yuca and pork belly! The fruit smoothie's are refreshing and delectable! They also offer some great desserts and and freshly made Cuban coffee for a dollar. The restaurant it spotlessly clean and the service is charming and attentive! You will not regret stopping in this is a must try for any foodie! 5 stars for food, service and value!

I was a little hesitant because when you come to Orlando you find lots of "tourist traps" that are awful and then everything else is just "meh". This place was awesome! The decor was quaint and cute. It was modern with touches of Cuba everywhere. Most importantly, the food was delicious! Seasoned just right! Not too salty but so flavorful. It tasted like eating at mom's kitchen. Btw, this happens to be my first review and I eat out every single weekend. This place was just "that good".

Stopped by for some brunch- restaurant looks awesome- great decor and it was jammed packed! Sadly, the wait staff were scrambling and we stood at doorway for an awkward 5 minutes with them giving us eye contact but refusing to come by to say "welcome! We'll have a booth for you in 10-15 min" instead they continued to avoid until someone came by and rapidly said we can sit at the only table left (next to take out register and bathroom) and then rushed off. Tons of tables with empty plates, no orders taken, new patrons with no menus- what a mess!! Food looked amazing as it came out but definitely poor customer service- too bad.

It's been hard to find good Cuban joint that reminds me of a breakfast back in Miami. This place is the closest I could find. So delicious! Must try croquettas and ropa vieja

    (4)
  • Dany C.

I ordered the ropa vieja with congris. The food was delicious and fresh. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The Tres leches had a great flavor but was dry, which isn't typical for this dessert. The coffee was also good. If you're looking for authentic Cuban for this is the place.

we had walked in a Friday around 5:30 pm, there was only two tables occupied, 7 minutes past by and no one even bother to greet us, when looking around the other tables only had water served, the waitress were busy talking to each other at the cashier area. We decided to go there because in the past we used to go to the one by Goldenrod and thought it will be that good. extreme disappointment

  • Sheila R.

Nice interior in the cafe. Café con leche NOT Cuban style, a bit disappointing. To make up for it was the Media Noche sandwich. It was packed with sweet ham, pork, Swiss cheese, and pickles, yum! Could barely put my mouth around it it was so big. Nice!

  • Matt G.

Food was good. Service not so much. Had to ask for silverware. They took our water to fill when our food came and never came back. I had to walk up to ask for our water almost when we were done. When you look behind the wall they have dirty dishes next to the clean ones. I will go back but not when they have 40-50% of the place full.

Stopped by out of curiosity and was very impressed. Get the "limonada" which was very refreshing and not too sweet. All the dishes were excellent and very authentic. A hidden gem.

Hubby and I love this place for breakfast. You'll see us every other Sunday morning drinking our cafe con leche. It's nice to go somewhere where they recognize you. Hubby always orders the sweet plantain smushed in a omelet. And I can't get enough of their sunny side up eggs, ham, and bread. See you guys soon!

  • Joy W.

I was very excited to give this place a try but man was I let down! The overall decor and authentic Cuban atmosphere is good however the service and food fell short. There wasn't one dedicated server to our table instead we had to flag down any employee we could find just to ask for mustard and they were visibly annoyed that we bothered them. The waitress that eventually took our order couldn't understand me and thought I asked for pink lemonade when I was ordering empanadas.. I ordered the Cuban sandwich which I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up for.. The pork was just a deli cut instead of pulled like I'm used to. My fiancé and I both ordered empanadas-one beef, one chicken and they gave us both chicken. When I brought this to another waitresses attention she argued with me that I ordered chicken and had another waiter help me. I could clearly tell from that point that I didn't fit in at this restaurant being blonde hair and blue eyed and was basically being picked on by the entire wait staff. Long story short, I will never go back to this restaurant nor will I recommend anyone to put up with what I did. I'll be sure to never try anything other than my favorite Cuban food- ZaZa's!

    (2)
  • Sarah K.

Definitely the best Cuban food I've tried in Orlando but being Cuban coming from Miami it's just ok. The prices are good and the portions are large but the service is slow. I do recommend this place if you aren't in a rush and are craving Cuban food since it is as good as you will get here in Orlando.

    (3)
  • Pat P.

Great food, big portions, even for lunch. Excellent service. They treated me like a local! I had the pork steak. Juicy, really great spices. And I love fried sweet plantains! Topped it off with a pineapple soda. If the weather was better today, I'd swear I was in Cuba!

    (5)
  • Ivette F.

Not the best cuban food at all but being cuban I am slightly critical, the wait is extremely long, and the presentation is non existant, the breakfast looks like something you can make at home, but the worst part which is what prompted this review is that as I sat at the table by the kitchen at the new alafaya location I saw the server make two large cafe con leches, taste it, add more sugar and with the same spoon she had in her mouth, stirred them and serve it to a table! I highly suggest you go elsewhere.

  • Girl With A Fork F.

The yuca was amazing. I ordered an omelet and it was alright (and HUGE) but I ordered a side of yuca and I was in Heaven. The café con leche was the BEST cup of coffee I've in the States. Our waitress was very pleasant, too. I went back about a week after my first visit and ordered a side of white rice and black beans; they were both delicious! I'll be going back real soon for more yuca and rice and beans.
