The gyros aren't perfect, but they are the best I have found in Orlando. For $7.99 you can order the combo which includes a soda and chips. The variety of chips is a bit different. I for one had never heard of Heinz ketchup flavored chips, but they were good. Definitely not a flavor I would buy in bulk, but a nice diversion from the everyday BBQ and sour cream and chive varieties. I was there with a group of 6. I never saw the woman write down our orders, but they all came out just as we ordered them. Our wait was very brief, and the gyros were served up hot! I have to agree with some of the fellow reviewers on the soda refill part. I think we all know how cheap soda is, and all they accomplish with that is leaving me feeling like they want to nickel and dime me. I think this hurts them more than the little bit of revenue it generates.

The Gyros are good and the prices are really good!

My boyfriend and I have driven by this corner deli a million times since moving downtown but had never thought to stop. So finally, after a long day of shopping, we decided to see if they could live up to their self-proclaimed slogan, "best subs in town." They have a nice covered patio before you enter which is surrounded by plants--a great thing considering the hustle and bustle of Colonial is just a few feet away. When we got to the door we were greeted by a nice man who I would assume is the owner. He opened the door for us and in we went for lunch. They offer standard submarine sandwiches but place some emphasis on Greek food. You may order a lamb/beef gyro, Greek salad, and bakalava for dessert. We stuck with American favorites and were very happy with our choices. I ordered a turkey sandwich on pita bread which was phenomenal for such a simple combination. They served it warm and topped it with spicy brown mustard; a nice change from the plain yellow variety. For just my sandwich it was $5.49 but had I ordered a half of a sub roll it would have only been $3.25, but that doesn't include adding cheese. We took ours to go but they have a considerable amount of seating in their dining room which is semi-separate from the ordering area. There are NYC themed murals and white twinkle lights strung throughout which make it somewhat hokey but in a cool and old-school kind of way. It was obvious that they keep it very clean and were very willing to make their customers happy. On their take-away menu there is a special paragraph stating that they will make anything the way their customers want it and are committed to using only the best products. So from 10am-5pm, Monday-Saturday, this NY deli is open for business and worthy of a stop if you're in the neighborhood.

Tried this place for lunch today. I had the chicken salad sub w/ lettuce, tomato, and onion. I hate when restaurants ruin perfectly good chicken salad with nasty things like walnuts and grapes. The stuff here was really simple, which I like, but there was a really strong sweet taste which I couldn't really pinpoint. It definitely has potential if they'd just tone down whatever caused that flavor. Also, they're bread certainly isn't anything to write home about. I'd suggest crossing the street to Mama B's for a better chicken salad sandwich. Sam got a gyro. When I asked him if it was good he said it tasted like almost every other gyro he's ever eaten, and that that was a good thing. They also lose points for charging for refills. Who does that??

I've driven by this place for years and never tried it. Decided to get some Gyros before a game and it was so worth it! I got the chicken gyro because lamb is not my favorite. So they have lamb and beef gyros and chicken gyros. It was so juicy and seasoned so well. The garlicky sauce is so tasty! The gyro itself was huge and a combo with chips and a drink was only $8.50. Definitely coming again!

My wife and I ordered a NY cheese stake and a turkey sandwich. The Cheese stake was pretty good, however the turkey sandwich was on par of that which you would expect from an elementary school cafeteria at best. Also, charging extra for refills has never settled well with me.

It's not a bad place to stop by for a quick lunch. I ordered the BBQ Roast Beef sandwich, which apparently is the same as the Roast Beef Sandwich, but with some barbecue sauce squeezed on top. The bread they used was great -- probably the best part of the sandwich. The rest of it was good, though not particularly memorable. What I can say is this: why anyone would go to that Mama B's travesty across the street instead of this place is beyond me. Oh, the cups aren't particularly large and they charge 35 cents for a refill. Come on, I know times are tough but free refills aren't going to break you. If I worked in the area I could see myself coming back more often.

I was so excited to have a gyro here, it's been years since I last visited this place. Well, where do I start. Oh yes with the main ingredient the meat. The meat gets cut off the slab way before you order it and sit on the pita bread stack one after the other in a plastic container. For who knows how long waiting on customers to order. What's wrong with that? The meat dries up, it's no longer toasty, hot or juicy. So when the customer places a order they then heat up your gyro meat and pita by pitting it in a little toaster oven to dry up the meat some more. No can do. The tzatziki sauce taste to much like it had mayo in it. No mayo please. I don't remember this place serving horrible food. If I wanted toaster oven or microwave food I would have went to a fast food place.

Get the Mushroom Brie soup, the chicken salad, the seafood salad. Service is really good.

I've never known what it feels like to be a regular anywhere, but all that changed when I started going to this deli. Lucy is so sweet! And every time she sees me she knows exactly what I want: the Italian with no tomatoes half sub special. And the food's delicious! I actually tried a gyro a few weeks ago and it was great. The Italian is perfect, and I love the pricing. Perfect local lunch spot with better pricing than any chain I know.

One of the best gyros in Orlando. The meat was delicious and plentiful. The gyro combo is quite filling for a decent price.

It should be against the law to open your doors with "New York" in the title unless there is some semblance of quality to back it up. There isn't a single viable independent sandwich maker in downtown Orlando. If this place were in Ny it's doors would stay open for about an hour. Two slices of meat on a low grade stale hoagie roll is sure to satisfy nobody. The mediocre Mama B's across the street is far better.

Amazing food! I ordered a NY Cheesesteak which was hot and fresh. The bread was the best sub bread I have ever had. Overall, the food was better than I had even expected. I just wish instead of closing at 5 that this place was open later so I can go more often.

Not that clean. Does anything else matter? If so read on-- prime example- their grimy straw dispenser had built up grease on the tabs where everyone MUST touch with their fingers to get said straw. Once you do that forget the sanitizer, it dispenses AN UNWRAPPED STRAW. Worse yet that straw rolls over the grimy tabs as soon as it drops out of the machine. Im posting a pic of it you really have to see it to know how disgusting it is! How cheap stupid is the owner? Not even a wrspped straw? forget it! Everything there had look of neglect. i am from NY and the Gyros are ok. I was good with mine & it wasn't til my second trip that i realized that the seating areas and self serve soda fountain were unacceptable. I was too grossed out to eat the gyro. A waste of my 10 bucks. The lady at the counter is a bit salty and whines. Its is no New York Deli, its like a New Jersey toxic waste dump. Stay away

I like their gyros~. It's a fast food restaurant so you can't expect the best service from them. I'm happy as long as they don't mess up my orders.

This place is my long lost love!!! This time I had the ham & turkey sub and like all the other times I loved it. If your a first-timer def. Try the gyros, they have the best in town. I will be returning very soon ;]]

DAMN ! ! ! ! I love it. A stop when going to the Orlando VA. Can't wait til I go back. I don't care if they charge 35 cents for a refill.

I really like the gyros here. The meat is always cooked perfectly and the pitas and veggies are always fresh. The only reason I'm not giving the place 5 stars is because for such a famous gyro, their tzaziki sauce has gone way downhill. It was sweet and watered down. My boyfriend hated the " house dressing" they put on his roast beef sub, even though I asked them not to. Also $8 for a sub, small bag of chips and a soda cup with no refills is way too expensive. My gyro was $8 by itself. That's the second star.....

Best gyro that I have found in Orlando! I would recommend that they go light on the onion, but it is very tasty!! Just the gyro alone is quite filling but you can also get it as a combo with chips and a drink($7.99.) My husband does not eat gyros and really enjoys their subs. There are tables inside and also outside. The staff is always friendly when I go in there and appreciate your business...sadly I notice this kind of service more today than poor service because it is so rare. I would definitely recommend this as a nice change to your usual choice or subpar fast food options.

I have to be honest, when I first walked in here, I really didn't think I was going to get much of a meal taste wise, but I was starving and I had already taken the trouble to park so I figured I might as well pick something up to eat. I was really surprised by the flavors and the quantity of food for only $8.99 The gyro platter comes with pita slices, gyro meat, mixed vegetable rice and a side Greek salad. The dressing on the salad was amazing, you could taste the quality of the extra-virgin olive oil they used lemon salt and pepper and other herbs it was truly exceptional. Gyro meat was sliced thin, and it was a plentiful portion. I can't speak for their sandwiches but given to what the other reviews have to say, Getting a gyro seems the way to go here, but get the gyro platter if you're really hungry. On a side note, they make the best tzatziki sauce I've had anywhere here in Orlando, yup, try it. The only reason why am not giving this place five stars is because they do not have hummus, I think if you're running a joint that sells Gyros, baklava, and other delicious Greek specialties, hummus should be on there too. Definitely worth a stop.

Its pretty good. I got the gyro special but it was still a bit pricey for the quality. $10 dollars for a standard size gyro with chips and 12 oz soda. The shop is nice and clean and reminds me of the delis of old. I would go again,

We were impressed this place existed in Orlando. The authenticity had you feeling like you were back in o e of the boroughs of New York! The woman behind the counter was a pleasure given her friendly demeanor and helpful suggestions. Our experience was so good that we had a repeat visit the next day. The cheesecake was a good surprise after the gyro although the tiara misu was average.

Best gyro I had in Orlando! Friendly staff and always pleasant. They have a variety of fun flavored chips you typically won't find in town. Only downfall would be how ungenerous they are. They charge for everything... I did not mind being charged for extra sauce but was only given a very very small amount. So sad, so disappointed... Refills on drinks are extra charge as well... But the food is so good! Definitely worth checking them out if you don't mind being charged a bit extra for your needs.

My dad and I finally stopped at this roadside deli after frequently passing it by for five or six years. The stars aligned today as we had a lunch break between shows at the Orlando Rep Theater. I wish that we had stopped sooner! We both got the gyro combo- a gyro, chips, and soda. 1. First thing that I got were the chips from the rotating spire of chips. They were not from a major brand of chips, as I was not familiar with it. On a whim, I grabbed the Ragin' Ranch and they were amazing! Perfect blend of heat and cooling ranch. I might be hooked! 2. Then I hit the drink station. The one sign that you can NOT avoid in the shop are the five or six signs saying "Please pay cashier 35 cents for refill." What a bunch of baloney! That stuff is so cheap... The one major downturn of this place. 3. The gyro was very good. We both had ours "sloppy" with extra tzatziki. Very good! The meat was ever so slightly dry but it was still the best gyro I've had since I left New York. 4. The staff and the woman who I assume was the manager were very kind and welcoming to both of us. It was very refreshing compared to other establishments! If I'm ever in that part of town again, I'll stop by!

Best Gyro in Florida! This place has been around for 30+ years and I'm ashamed to say this is the first time I tried it. Ordered the Gyro w/ Feta. Fantastic, fresh, amazing. According to the owner they make their own gyro meat mixture. So good you could taste the individual seasonings. Homemade Tatziki - CHECK, Homemade Baklava and Spinach Pies - CHECK! I'll be back... probably later this week.

This is a pretty decent corner deli that has the potential to be awesome if it would only tweak a few key things. They serve gyros, hot dogs, and subs. The gyros are pretty good, but not fantastic. One thing they could do is add alot more meat to it and make the slices a bit thicker. The bread is the best constituent of the subs. I've tried the pastrami and, much like the gyros, it fails to wow me. I also get a little annoyed when people charge for refills at a restaurant since I've worked in a restaurant and I know how cheap those sodas really are. One thing I have to try before I pass full judgement is the New York Hero and the Manhattan Hero, each 2 feet long! Be advised that they are open till 5 PM everyday except they are closed on Sundays.
