My sister and I met here one day for lunch and were very impressed with the quality of the sushi and the presentation of same. I wouldn't hesitate to stop by again when in the area. They also had some good bento lunch specials (good in both quality and value for money.)

You would never expect that the best Sushi in Orlando is hiding inside of this little unassuming store front. This is truly a place for sushi enthusiasts. Novices are comfortable here too. The price is reasonable, the decor is simple, the staff is consistent and the chefs are amazing. I wouldn't eat sushi anywhere else in Orlando. Try the lobster salad.

I really like this place. I have been getting consistent great service and excellent food. The lunch menu is awesome and you really can't go wrong with anything here. I've tried Unagi Don, Teriyaki Salmon Bento Box, all sorts of sushi rolls and sashimi, and their Katsu. Oh and the mussel are good too. Just get whatever you want to try and I have a feeling you won't be disappointed!

We dined here because of the good reviews on yelp ... This restaurant is every bit as good (if not better) than the best sushi restaurant in our hometown of Beverly Hills, CA.

I went to Mikado for the first time a few years ago and I have to say that my experience was less than enjoyable. They acted like it was a burden for us to be there and it wasn't even closing time or anything. But I did remember the Lion King Roll. Made it worth the trip but I wasn't looking to come back any time soon. So here it is almost 5 years later and I'm back for a second try. We were greeted with a smile and there was a wait due to how busy it was but we sat at the sushi bar right away. I often wonder why nobody wants to sit there, it's where all the action happens. Any-who, we ate a little before we came here so we weren't super hungry. We decided to split the sashimi dinner which I think came with 15 slices of sashimi, rice, soup, and salad. The sashimi was great. Nice, thick cut slices, you could really taste the fish, and it made it seem more like a meal than an appetizer like so many places tend to do with their small portions. Plus, the presentation was much better than more expensive sushi joints. I really wanted to get the Lion King roll again but I was just so full from all the wonderful sashimi. I guess it will just have to wait until next time, which will come much sooner than 5 years from now.

Im definitely a Mikado fan. I prefer the location closer to me in Village Park but this one does it all right. Great customer service (Sushi Chef's acknowledge you and smile), fresh fish, and a clean and spacious interior are what make trips to Mikado a weekly necessity.

Oooh sweet Mikado...! How I dream of you in my sleep (:. Okay, maybe not really..but the food here is great!!! It's a small restaurant, in a location where you would least expect it to be. Do not be fooled by the exterior design! Inside, you will find a quaint homey place, where the staff greets you with a smile. I've only ate here twice; and on both occasions it was a sensational experience. Food: The beef asparagus rolls were a FAVORITE! Perfectly seasoned and tender beef....mouth watering sauce reduction. You have to try this if you come here! The asparagus tasted fresh and were cooked really well. My friend ordered a big batch of these and offered a lot to me, and I mean....who would say no to free food?! Their portions are very good for the pricing. The owner must be an avid believer of sharing is caring! (: Any sushi rolls here is the best of the best. I highly recommend the Crunchy Roll here. It's perfectly crisp to perfection and leaves you with the ever so slight craving for more. Do I sense addiction?? Maybe so!!! Their fish is grade A (don't quote me on this..!) but it tastes very very fresh and always tender. My friend ordered a Spider Roll and it looked not only beautiful, but tasted beautiful (:. Hah! Tastes Beautiful...that reminds me of the reactions Brazilians have when they taste Frozen Yogurt from the place I work at (Pinkberry.) ''It's beautiful!!'' Service: The server was really kind and always helpful when it came to answering questions on the menu. She smiled a lot, which is a PLUS..hello..happy waiter= happy guest. Good tip for her! :) Please come and experience the cuisine of sushi and japanese food if you're visiting Orlando (: here. It's one of my favorite spots to dine in, and you won't be disappointed!

One of my favorite Yelper friends Libby has championed Mikado a number of times, so I went there today with a little bit of trepidation. What if I didn't like it? Just don't review it then and keep your mouth shut, Tom. But as expected, Libby didn't steer me wrong. I visited the MetroWest location today for the first time and it was nothing short of weekend-making. One day I'm going to make a list of restaurants with friendly but not overbearing service that keep you coming back, and Mikado will be one of them. In an appetizer rut, I began with my usual miso soup and edamame. The sizable portion of edamame was served in a straw basket, something I hadn't seen before. Because most of the signature rolls were listed as spicy, I stayed away from them, but I probably could have asked for them not spicy and would likely have been accommodated. I had masago sashimi, the egg of the capelin fish, which was very good (they no longer serve inaru, since it wasn't popular). Also, I had yellowtail sashimi, which is becoming a favorite of mine, along with a New York Roll (loaded) and a rather simple Tuna AVOCADO roll. Mikado is a friendly place with excellent sushi and a nice presentation. They have a new website, mikadosushiorlando.com , which I'll send to Yelp. Thanks Lib!

Very high quality sushi in a small unassuming location. We started with the sunomono and jalapeño hamchi appetizer. The sunomono had several thick slices of various fish more generous than normally portioned out at other bars. More fish than cucumbers a nice change of pace. The hamchi was very fresh with jalapeños and black caviar. A nice app for those who like a little heat. The out of control roll was as advertised. Tempora shrimp, king crab, spicy tuna with (homemade eel sauce that was much better than the cisco equivalent.). We also had a spicy tuna and tuna avocado rolls that were all above average. It's too bad this place is in west Orlando although the sushi warrants the extra 20 minutes off i4. We will be back. Thanks Yelp!

Overall I think this is a solid sushi restaurant. Fish seems fairly fresh, Tempura is crunchy, service is attentive, rolls are pretty well made and don't fall apart. There me and my gf had the Thai Pham, dynamite, and shogun roll. Thai Pham was our favorite. Had some nice fish, some crunchy tempura inside, with some masago and sauces drizzled on top. It was tasty with a good fish (but not fishy) taste. Shogun was basically a spicy tuna roll with some minced salmon on top. Decent tasting roll but I'm not sure if this minced salmon really added anything. It's not solid fish like in a rainbow roll but some processes stuff. Presentation was excellent though. They designed it so that the roll was on top of a leaf boat. Dynamite roll is not like others I've had. It's a cooked whitefish roll with masago on top. Wasn't great but wasn't bad either. This is a place that's got some typical twists on the older classical rolls but I'm not sure how successful they are with their follow though. If you want some solid sushi this is the place. Unsure about their more experimental rolls though. Would def go again if I'm in Orlando.

I was in possession of a deal coupon so we decided to go over for dinner on a Friday night to redeem it. I wasn't sure what to expect. I don't recall my first visit a few years back to Mikado being astounding. But when we went a few weeks ago I was delightfully surprised at the beautiful presentation and tantalizing taste. The servers were friendly and attentive. We ordered and we were satisfied. We ordered the Hot Mama Roll. It is presented atop a honey cinnamon sauce. If you like savory and sweet together along with a bit of spice you'll love the complexity. Also, ordered was the Lion King Roll. It was flavorful yet simple. The Volcano Roll, which was a different spin of a roll that at most sushi places and the Mexican Roll. The Mexican Roll was interestingly pleasant. I really like jalapeno out the jar and salsa. This roll married together salsa spice and shrimp tempura sushi. Very creative. I am trying to make Mikado our weekly sushi spot. There are some others on the menu that I'd like to explore soon!

My coworkers love this spot for lunch, so I went with high expectations. The sushi is really good, but just a bit pricey for lunch. The last time I was there I opted for the bento box with teriyaki beef. That ended up being a much better deal for lunch, alot more food for about the same price as the sushi lunch specials (around 10 bucks). The sushi is very fresh, the flavors of the rolls are a nice mix of the usual and some original pieces. The only drawback for me is service can be pretty slow for lunch. I need to be in and out in about 25 mins, but here it usually runs about 45mins. So... yeah. It is worth the wait! Just need to plan for it before I leave the office.

I've been coming here for quite some time now, back when they were Nagoya Sushi. It's about a mile from my work so this is my go-to spot when I'm craving sushi for lunch. The interior is small but nice and the staff is friendly and attentive. It is a bit pricey for a quick lunch so I usually opt for the lunch specials. I get the 2 rolls and soup or salad for $9. You have to pick from their list of select rolls so that kinda sucks but some of them are really good. My favorite is the Crunch Roll. They also have a Bento Box lunch special as well. It's around $8 or $9 depending on what you get. (I usually get the Salmon Teriyaki, delish!) And for $3 extra they throw in 2 pieces of the Crunch Roll, Spring Roll, Gyoza, and Egg Fried Rice. Totally worth it.

Avocado Tower was spicy salmon, black tobiko, masago, spicy Mayo, tempura flakes. It was a seemless, luxurious medley of flavors, fresh and yumilicious.

Wow. Just simply wow. First off when you walk in the place is small, but they make up for that with the decor. It looks very open and the place is very pleasing to the eye. The staff was very nice and was willing to answer any questions. Infact, our waitress asked us right off the bat if she could explain anything. So if you've never had sushi or are not sure, don't be afraid to ask. The food it self was excellent. My girlfriend does not like the idea of sushi and even she enjoyed it. There was 3 of us and we got the Mikado Boat and it was enough food for at least 4 people. I highly recommend this for Novice sushi goers and experienced sushi lovers.

I stopped in on a quiet Monday night while staying at my brother's place nearby. My dad seems to frequent this place while in Orlando, so I figured I would give it a shot. The staff was friendly, the interior was very clean, and it had a nice ambiance even if it was really quiet. Once you're seated, they bring the awesome warm washcloths... something that isn't very standard. For $50, my mom and I got an appetizer, a beef sukiyaki (for me) with a salad, a bento box (with soup), and a beer. The chicken skewers were tasty, the ginger dressing on the salad wasn't the typical orange paste of many other places (it was very tasty), and the sukiyaki was delish even though I'm not a fan of baby-corn and the unidentifiable tubular things that were on top. The bento my mom ordered had beef teriyaki, a couple pieces of sushi, some seaweed salad, tempura shrimp and veggies, and some dumplings. The teriyaki was ok (I'm not a huge fan of teriyaki to begin with), and the tempura was really good. I can't vouch for the other things, but they seemed to agree with her. I'll stop by the next time I'm in town :D

I used to live almost behind this restaurant so my boyfriend and I would frequent this place more than anywhere else. This is the only sushi restaurant I've been to (believe me, I've been to a lot) that offers salmon tataki and I craved it, two years later I still do. The staff was practically family to us we saw them so much and I will admit that we blew more money then we should eating here :) The atmosphere is very relaxing and I would sit back and relax after a filling meal and almost doze off to the classical music. I will be back in the area soon and I look forward to eating here once again, but I may not want to leave and be without Mikado!

I have been going there for a few years and everything was fine. The last time I went (with a groupon), the experience was so bad, I will never go again! The service was absolutely terrible and they will never get another penny from me.

This is my to-go sushi place right around the corner from my house. If some friends and I are craving sushi and are super lazy and don't wanna drive somewhere far, this is where we invariably end up. It's small, but you never feel cramped. The decor is pretty classy, but you don't feel like you should be in a fancy button down. The service has always been great when I've been there, especially with larger groups of people. The food, is, of course, what makes this place so awesome. It's a rare treat when I enjoy both the cooked items and noodle dishes + sushi of a place -- it's usually one over the other. Here I have to gaze longingly at the menu and decide what sacrifices I have to make. For cooked dishes, I'd recommend anything with udon, their noodles are perfect. For sushi... well, anything is great. Crunchy Roll's a delicious melange of subtle flavors, the spicy tuna roll is a standard staple of nom, and the Mikado Roll ended up being fought over on a recent foray with a group of friends. For the price, this is probably the best sushi you can get in the MetroWest area. Couple that with the out-of-the-way locale and intimate atmosphere, and you've got a little slice of heaven.

Great food. 6 of us in our family 10 yrs old and up. Beef noodles, chicken teriyaki, out of control roll, several other rolls that I forget. Service was polite and prompt. Highly recommended neighborhood sushi. Went there a 2nd time and liked as much as the first time.

I went here for lunch and thought it was pretty good. Their lunch specials are around $8.95 (2 rolls plus soup or salad). It's a small place nothing too fancy. It's more of a 'on the go' 'grab a quick bite' to eat sorta place.

Very fresh sushi and great food. The best conch salad I have ever had so far (I have tried it at several Japanese restaurants). We had baby octopus, conch salad, sushi deluxe, and noodle soup with beef. Everything tasted very good. We will come again.

I first tried this place because I was craving some sushi at work one day and this was the only place for miles. It was a good find too! I have mainly only tried the sushi, but so far it has all been fresh and yummy. The service is fairly quick and friendly, and it is fairly priced for a sushi place. Since I first came, I have been back about once a week. It's not the best sushi in Orlando, but a great find for this area of town.

I started going to Mikado not long after moving to Orlando, and I've never had a bad experience. The prices are reasonable, the sushi has always been yum, and my husband is a huge fan of the teriyaki. The only reason they don't get all 5 stars is that the rolls have a tendency to get pretty elaborate, so you're left with a choice between biting a piece in half (always awkward with sushi) or shoving the whole piece in your mouth and trying to chew. This is when it's good to be married - even if I end up looking a bit nutty during dinner my husband has to go home with me.

I have been in many place around the globe and have tried a lot of sushi place. This one of the best sushi place I know, I'll rather go there than to the busy Amura even if Amura is really good to. Try the Godzilla Roll and enjoy the nice staff.

Went there to eat with the family and was recommended by a friend. Another small Japanese restaurant my brother and I tried to put under the belt. The staff was nice and found out most of them were from Taiwan so that made the situation much easier to enjoy (such as extra free piece of this and that). Watched the chef behind the sushi counter making ahi tuna with the torch was fun (he was really into it, probably trying to make a show for everyone). We ordered assorted sushi as usual and had a blast. I can definitely recommend them.

Went on a non-holiday Wednesday night and it was very busy-- a good sign. Had miso soup, edamame, and chicken teriyaki, all of which were very good. The selection of sushi and rolls is great, and the folks I was with really enjoyed theirs. I definitely recommend this place.

I used to eat here at least once a week for lunch when I worked in Metrowest. Service is always professional and friendly and the lunch sushi special is a great deal. The sushi is fresh and well prepped in a traditional fashion. I always felt like I was getting an authentic experience at Mikado/Nagoya.

This placed used to be owned by a Japanese family and was called Nagoya Sushi. The staff was fantastic and the sushi was to die for. A while back they moved, and a new family opened up in the same space and called it Mikado. The new family is Chinese, and the sushi, although perfectly acceptable, is not nearly as authentic and flavorful as it was when it was Nagoya. The new staff, although friendly and helpful enough, is noticeably less so than the Nagoya staff was. This place is fine if you're looking for sushi in the MetroWest area, but there are definitely better places for sushi elsewhere in Orlando.

  • Yaro K.

My go-to sushi place in Orlando/Metrowest. The sushi here is not mind blowing by any means, but the consistency is definitely something to be admired. It's still the same, great food that I first got acquainted with when I moved to Orlando. When I come here I know I will leave satisfied each and every time. I can't say that for a lot of other places I frequent. Additionally, the service is always prompt and friendly. As for the actual food... I haven't had everything on the menu, but can recommend the spicy tuna salad or the fried oysters as an appetizer. As for rolls, I typically get spicy tuna, eel and shrimp tempura, which are solid and full-fulling. If you want to splurge the Thai Pham roll is pretty awesome and my favorite of the signature rolls. I've also had the Yummy and Tango Mango roll here which were both good, but didn't leave a lasting impression like the Thai Pham roll did. Also, not hugely important... but the miso soup here is a step above what I'm used to getting from similarly priced sushi restaurants. It's not anything to write home about, but it also doesn't taste like it came out of a packet - which is oh so common at these type of places. That said, spring for the onion soup instead (unless you hate onions)... you won't regret it.

My girlfriend and I just moved to an apartment a stone's throw away from here and decided to try this place out, since we were looking for good, local sushi. The place itself - located in a small plaza in a quiet neighborhood, mostly residential surrounding. Inside, there are maybe 10 tables, one of them being very long, for any large parties. It's super clean, a couple of TVs, some relaxing music, and a pretty big tropical fish tank. Of course, you can see the chefs preparing the rolls, and they ring a little gong when you tip them! We went on Friday night (just left, actually) and the place was just shy of being full, with regulars! All of the other guests seemed to know the servers personally, especially Rachel. Rachel actually served our dessert, she was really funny and sweet. She knew all the families coming in, which was super encouraging for us newbies. Service was quick, servers were so attentive and sweet. We were seated quickly, served quickly, and we ate quickly! It was so good! I got a Philadelphia roll and a Magic Roll (truly magical) and my girlfriend got two spicy tuna rolls. Everything was fresh and delicious and the plating was picturesque. After dinner, we ordered two fried cheesecakes with ice cream, and I loved how they plated them differently. Total bill was $48.14, so the price was right. We will definitely return. My girlfriend was raving after the first bite, and insisted we come every week! Thank you, Mikado Sushi! See you soon! :)

Smells weird, like a dirty dish cloth. It's sad because the food is good, but we had to leave due to the smell. We even gave them another chance 2 weeks and the smell was still there.

Best sushi in town hands down!!! Their sushi always taste fresh and they have a lot of great tasting signature rolls. The waitresses are friendly and attentive every time. My favorite roll is the Out of control roll, definitely a must-try. Other rolls I've tried and liked, to name a few, are Fuji Yama, Godzilla, Lobster grill, Drama Queen, Shogun, and Ultimate sandwich although it breaks apart easily it's still delicious and worth getting. I really love coming here for the food and great service. Never had a problem or bad experience.

This is a good restaurant. They have a variety of sushi. I normally order the ACC roll. The salads are fresh and the soups are good. You have your choice of sake I recommend the Apple sskr a if you were looking for sweet sake. It is one of the few really good restaurant in the Metro West area. The staff is nice and friendly and they bring the food to you promptly. They are also amazing with takeout. You could call in your order and they will probably have it ready for you to pick up. It is a smaller restaurant so if you have a large group it would really behoove you to call ahead and make a reservation. If it is a small group you will be in and out in under an hour.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a great restaurant in the area and after a Yelp search we happened upon Mikado Sushi. I hadn't had sushi since moving to Florida so I figured it was worth trying. Upon first inspection the place is less than impressive. It's located in a strip mall that looks fairly typical and unimpressive. I've learned from experience, however, that you can't judge a book by its cover and this is definitely the case with this restaurant. The inside of the restaurant looks like your typical sushi restaurant. Nothing fancy, but still nice. We sat down and ordered the Miso Soup, which was fantastic. We then ordered a few different rolls to share. My favorite was the Chicken Tempura. It's to die for! By the time I was done with the soup and the various sushi we ordered I was pretty full. However, I had to try the fried ice cream, which was also pretty fantastic. I just couldn't stop eating! I've eaten here now a couple of times and I just can't get enough. The service is great, the food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and I always leave here in a great mood. I've even had dreams about this place. I will definitely be back!

Good food, decent service, but they aren't very good at making sure the customer is happy. I ordered something new, found out I didnt like it, and since I hadnt eaten much, asked if I could trade it for something else. At first they refused, then told me that if I got something else, I would have to pay for both. After a lot of them hemming and hawing they finally gave me half off on the dish and made me pay for the other. I have not been back since.

Great place for sushi.. good quality, big portions and reasonable prices. One of my favorite rolls is the Godzilla roll! My sister has gotten a couple of the bento boxes and they are huge. Enough to feed 2 people.

  • Heidi B.

To be honest, Mikado is probably one of my top three places for sushi in the Orlando area. Why? Well, put simply they have fresh, authentic sushi at reasonable prices. My favorite thing to do when I go to any sushi restaurant is try out a few specialty rolls. And the wide array of specialty rolls available here means you can get something unique every time you visit! My only complaint would be that because they are a small family owned restaurant, they have strange hours. They're open for lunch, close briefly, and then open up again later for dinner. So basically the best thing to do is to just stop in for an evening dinner to enjoy the sushi and quaint Japanese themed atmosphere.

  • Steve A.

This is a classic sushi restaurant with pleasing decor and a nice selection of sushi and cooked items. It's a particularly good choice for lunch, with an assortment of bento boxes, or the option of selecting any two rolls plus soup or salad. I like the sushi and sashimi lunch, which offers a generous assortment of sushi, nigiri and a California roll plus soup or salad for a reasonable price.

Again me and my family had a wonderful dinner at Mikado. We started off with the tuna tartare and the soft shell crab appetizer. Let me say that the tuna tartare was the most delicious thing that hit my tongue.... and is every time! Then me and my mom shared a lemon oyster roll and an old time favorite the spider man roll. My girlfriend enjoyed the chicken teriyaki which was presented so beautifully- as were our other dishes. We ended the night with the fried green tea ice cream which was scrumptious! Once again, Mikado is a wonderful place to go eat. And even better there was no wait, on a Friday night!

Sushi was amazing. The atmosphere was a tad under expected. There was a weird smell that could have been from anything or maybe they were just having an off day with the sea weed. Overall had it not would have been for the brick I tripped on when I went in there and the smell this place would waist have gotten 5 stars.

  • Giovanni S.

Great place, they have a lot of selection in the atmosphere is just right. Service is always quick and accurate. My favorite dish is the tofu, glad to see they have many options for vegetarians. Their lunch specials are amazing and it's always good to go here with a friend because he is not too big not too small so you can always have a nice conversation without a lot of noise in the background.

It's not bad but it's not the best I've ever had. Pretty good food and really good service! Had the sashimi platter, couldn't complain (except that it was supposed to come with a side bowl of rice but we never got it; wasn't going to eat it but if it's on the menu they should still bring it out or at least ask if we wanted it). I would go back if I was in that area again. Just happened to stumble upon it while in that part of town. Solid 3.5!

Hidden in an old/looking plaza in Metro West, Mikado is a hidden gem. It is by no means a fancy place, but the service is great, the fish is really fresh, and the sushi options are outstanding. I have been to at least 10 sushi places in orlando, and Mikado is tied for #1 with another place dt. Starting with the appetizers, Mikado has a great selection. Favorites: Duck roll, Jalapeno Pepper Hamachi, and the Sashimi Appetizer. Most rolls are really good, so not getting specific there. Net - not so fancy establishment in a somewhat random location, that serves some of the best sushi i've ever had.

Fantastic little place in the middle of nowhere. I think if this place be opened Dr Phillips area , it could easily make other sushi places go out of business. For real people the quality is as good as my favorite sushi place Seito Sushi in Baldwin park. You should try it out. very friendly service...

I discovered this place on groupon and I live right near it! It's small but the sushi was really good! I've been twice and would deff. go again.

Stopped by here after work to grab a Togo order and they told me they couldn't serve me. They didn't close for another 40 minutes and I was getting something quick. This would've been my first time trying this restaurant out but now I will never return. If you want to close early, change your hours, that simple.

This is such a hidden gem and I'm so glad Groupon introduced me to this little restaurant. It will now forever be on my hit list whenever I want sushi. The Tuna tartare is to die for and I can't help but want to keep eating it. It's so full of flavor and the richness isn't crazy or overwhelming. It's just bomb. I also really liked the sea urchin here, it's much fresher than other places I've had urchin at and I'm already impressed. The cuts of sashimi is thick which can be good if you're crazy for tons of raw fish. I like a lot of their rolls which are full of flavor thats unique and familiar. I'm loving this place so far! The waitresses are also helpful and attend to your table as needed. They even serve fried green tea ice cream which isn't as normal as just plain friend vanilla ice cream. It's a must visit if you're in the area. The sushi is pretty good, I haven't had their cooked food but I will try it some time in the future.

This place has the worlds most HORRIBLE, RUDE EMPLOYEES. the asian HOSTESS that answered the phone told my husband to go f*** himself and then the MANAGER called my husband back cursing up a storm and saying he was going to "f*** him up" lmao. We have them recorded. These people are a joke.

Pros: tasty sushi, prompt and attentive service Cons: a bit pricey Tips: the super crunchy, California, spicy, and Mexican rolls are great!

Oh my goodness the ultimate sandwich is amazing. Liked the salad. Got another nondescript sort of roll. Prompt service prompt food, little warm towel and rolls came with those lovely curly bits of white crunchy stuff I love. Got the roll without crunch and they didn't mind the request

Even better than last time. Delicious tastes and perfect execution. We took our friends from CZ to our favourite place and the were amazed!

This is my favorite Sushi spot I've found so far during my 8 years in the Orlando area. I've used the Groupon ($12 for $25 if memory serves...) a few times and it helps to provide even greater value to this Metrowest establishment. I've only ever ordered the Maki Combo, which consists of 1 California roll, 1 spicy salmon roll, 1 tuna roll and is also served with Miso soup and a salad with a fantastic peanut dressing. The service and atmosphere are wonderful and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly! What more could one ask for in their favorite local Sushi haunt?

The servers are friendly. The Chefs does a great job with the sushi, consistent every time I come. The presentations are eye appealing. Must try rolls include "Out of Control" and "Mikado Roll".

OKAY! I think I am ready to write a good good well-written review for Mikado! After a long day at Universal Studio, all we wanted to do was EAT. Sushi is our go to choice of food because it is light and always refreshing! I had bookmarked Mikado before coming here because the sushi presentations looked as good as it looked! When we arrived, the area seemed kinda eh. Where it was located seemed like such a dead location. We arrived around 9 iish and the place closed at around 10? 11? IDK. The menu was overwhelming! I wanted to try EVERYTHING!!! This was one of the most creative sushi restaurants I have ever been to. Their sushi creations and combinations were so AHH!! Not only that but even though we ate there late, the sushi served was STILL fresh!!! We shared 3 rolls: - Ultimate Sandwich My favoriteeee roll of the night. As stupid as this sounds...I thought this roll was literally going to be a sandwich. Idk why I thought that....it was basically just a layered roll that was pretty big! Consisted of eel, tempura, avocado, soy bean paper, topped with either tuna/salmon/yellowtail. This roll was super thick and hard to bite into, but it had such flavor in every bite! yelp.com/user_local_phot… - Black Dragon Roll Different version of the regular dragon roll. Relative to the dragon roll, this one had crab meat, avocado, eel and ASPARAGUS? Sounds gross right? but noo no noo no it wasn't! The asparagus gave it a nice CRUNCH! It actually was a great complement to the mushy crab meet and avocado. yelp.com/user_local_phot… - Monster Lobster Roll Another faveeeee. Lobster in sushi? Big lobster pieces too? And $13?! Lobster in anything usually ups the price dramatically...but not this place! The lobster was fresh too! Lobster, lettuce, asparagus, avocado....gosh I am lovin this asparagus and lovin the crunch of the lobster! yelp.com/user_local_phot… UNFORTUNATE that we don't have sushi like this in California. I mean there are good sushi restaurants, but this place was the best I've ever had! Every roll is probably amazing! Why hasn't this place been reviewed more?!

I've been looking for a sushi place to make it "my spot". This place is not bad but not great either. At least not compared to what I'm looking for. The local is small but nicely decorated and very neat. There are tables and there's also a sushi bar. This location doesn't have AYCE sushi... but the other Mikado does. Sushi is good but small little pieces. We also tried the gyozas and they were really good. Compared to other sushi places I've been is one of the best. Still looking for a sushi place to WOW me tho :(

Great little place! Service was great =D + They give you scented hot towels to clean your hands before dining + The sushi was priced well and portions were good + Bathroom was clean + They have great tap water! - I cannot tell you how hard it is to find good tap water in Florida, what's that about???

Very acceptable, fresh but inexpensive sushi. Don't expect much artistry in the presentation, but the sushi is good.

Loove this place!! The atmosphere is great and the workers are wonderful. Plus Super clean and taste amazing...worth every penny. Me and my family started going so much we became close to the staff. If anybody would suggest sushi this place I would recommend hands down!!!

Went here on Christmas Day which was awesome because I looked everywhere for somewhere to eat and of course nothing was open (not even Walmart). The waitress was very kind and funny and the food was quick and AMAZING! I most definitely recommend this place.

In an area where you're likely to find chain restaurants and fast food joints, Mikado is a great find. Their lunch specials are well priced, hovering right around $10. While this isn't the best sushi in Orlando, as I like their other location in Hunter's Creek better, it's still pretty good.

This place is really hit-or-miss. I've had some okay sushi there for an okay price, and I've had some really lousy experiences. They do have a crappy habit of omitting advertised ingredients or exchanging them for cheaper ones with no warning. Last time, my tartare was served with very underripe avocado and no nori rice cracker because they 'ran out' (something that should be mentioned before the dish is prepared - NOT only once the customer notices) - this time, they tried to pass off surimi as Alaskan King Crab. That's the straw that broke the camel's back for me. When I called them out on it, the server initially tried to tell me that all of their crab is imitation. When I asked why they were falsely advertising surimi as Alaskan King Crab, she went into the kitchen with my soup, then came back with it two minutes later and assured me that there had ALWAYS been real crab in it and the surimi was just a garnish on top. Magically, my soup now contained large chunks of real crab (imagine that!). I'd give 1 star for trying to pass off surimi as Alaskan King Crab - but I'd take it away for trying to BS through getting caught. My grade is 0 stars.

Decided to venture out to the Hunter's Creek area to check this joint out because I read that the reviews were pretty good. The reviews weren't kidding. The place is pretty awesome. The subtle Japanese style decor was nice. The servers were friendly and checked on us often. The sushi was great. One thing that I was sort of disappointed on was that I ordered a sushi boat- when it came out to us, it was on a plate. I'm guessing the other wooden boats were in use. The sushi was delicious nevertheless, but I was looking forward to having the sushi on an actual wooden boat since I never ordered one before. lol oh well.. it still yummy. Great place, would go again if I was on this side of town and craving sushi. :)

I've been looking for a good sushi bar in Florida, and I finally found one in Orlando. The sushi chef actually knows how to make the nigiri sushi properly, with the right amount of rice-to-sashimi ratio. The sashimi was fresh, and the scallops were huge! I also liked the way he made the salmon skin hand-roll, with a little bit of unagi sauce on it. It's a little bit off the beaten path, but it's worth it if you're looking for decent sushi.

  • Rebecca T.

I am so happy to have found this jewel, so close to my office. They always have fresh, beautiful uni, luscious quail eggs, giant scallops and enough sake to keep me slurring all week. They knew me by name after only dining once. You can't acquire CSRVC acumen like that -- it's instilled in their radiant smiles. Honestly, as I'm writing, I'm salivating for some Ikura/Quail love..

  • Linnell K.

I live in metrowest and it's nice to have a decent sushi place close to home. The staff is always so friendly and will remember us whenever we come in. I wouldn't rate it above some of the higher end sushi restaurants around Orlando, but it is definitely worth the price. The Thai Pham roll is unbelievable !! Also-it's not on the menu, but if you like spicy rolls, order the Vicky roll. The tuna tartar appetizer is also a must have.

Mikado has been in my bookmark list for quite some time, and I finally got around to acting on that recently. Turns out... well, I've been here before! I didn't realize it until we pulled into the parking lot, but apparently I did ACTUALLY eat at restaurants before I started reviewing on Yelp! Go figure! So we got a seat and put our order in for four rolls and a couple of avocado house salads. The avocado house salads were seriously worth the $1.50 premium over the standard house salad [see photo]. Look how much avocado they put on there! It really adds a lot to the salad, and the ginger dressing is excellent too -- and served on the side so you can apply it however you like. Now, I got pictures of the first two rolls to come out but forgot to get a picture of the final two, because I was too busy eating at that point. But you can see the attention to detail in the presentation. Of course, I don't remember the names of the rolls we ordered (one was Las Vegas), but hey -- I don't mind going back to figure it out! I don't know why I thought I'd remember, it always happens that way. Anyway, they're unique. Fresh and delicious. Definitely way up there in my ever-growing list of sushi adventures. Oh, and the staff was extremely friendly. While we were sitting there, a somewhat loud group of people came in to the small restaurant and asked for a table for (no kidding) "somewhere between 6 and 20 people". The staff handled the vague and somewhat obnoxious request expertly and graciously, managing to find a way to get them all to fit at one table with minimal space to work with.

This is a small neighborhood place that has delicious japanese food. As a vegetarian i usually get their Veggie rolls from the sushi bar, the house salad and some Agedashi tofu. The veggie rolls while a little too big to have in 1 bite are pretty tasty. I absolutely love their house dressing that comes with the house salad - it is quite good. My non vegetarian companions usually love the agedashi tofu as much as I do. I know tofu can be tasteless according to some but theirs has a very nice flavor. I will say I am not a fan of the fried desserts. Overall great place for take out or dine in.

  • Madai M.

Favorite spot for sushi. It can definitely add up but when it's this good it's worth the price. The roll you must order is the drama queen and you will not want to share. Bonzai tree is also very refreshing rolled in cucumber. If you see a groupon grab it and enjoy!!

  • Matt M.

I like sushi, but not raw fish nor really any fish. I wasn't impressed with their special rolls at all (if you're unlike me though, you'll find them through, most very fishy), so I ordered a few of the smaller hand rolls with shrimp & crayfish. They were all good! My wife's noodle bowl dish was kinda lacking in flavor. I ate about a third of it, but it needed a lot of soy sauce on it to make it better! Hint: DON'T get the thick noodles. They're about as thick as 3 quarters stacked on top of each other. Maybe that kinda made it a little bland.

    (4)
  • Meghan S.

Food was good, can't say it was phenomenal. Had the noodle bowl and can't put my finger on it, but it lacked something. Left me wanting something else, it was a little bland. I would recommend if you get the salad, to either tell them to go easy on the dressing or put it on the side, as they drown the salad in the dressing. Cute little place though

    (4)
  • Andreas H.

Great service and nice little place overall. The preparation is actually pretty good but the quality of the fish is really just okay. I am a very seasoned sushi guy and living in Asia I eat plenty. Their fish is a far cry from the average quality you get even in the mid-priced outlets in Shanghai or Singapore.

New to the Metrowest area so a coworker recommended this place for sushi. Pretty good sushi lunch special, but kinda pricey. Location is tucked away in an abandoned shopping plaza. Recently they had a special on groupon which I bought so I will be coming back to try dinner menu soon.

Love this place. My sisters were the one that introduced me to Mikado. April 2014 I had 30+ guests for my son's baptismal luncheon and of course, since we come here often, you can't complain, they have friendly staff and great service. It is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Orlando. Btw, I love any of their bento menu esp the salmon. Yum!

  • Anthony H.

So another date suggested this as a last minute resort due to circumstances out of our control. Loved their service, very friendly and prompt(also it's Sunday night). I don't normally buy into the crazy rolls so I won't review them based on that. Nigiri is what I love! Unfortunately, their nigiri isn't the best I've had. Matter of fact, their protein to rice ratio was waaayyy off. I ordered the Tuna, Yellowtail, Tamago and Octopus. Giant pieces of each topped with a thumb of rice. Picking up the nigiri felt really awkward because the rice was so small. While my first three selections were not too bad, the octopus was very hard to chew, not good. I would check them out on their lunch specials, probably the best deal coming here. If I'm on this side of town during lunch time, I would definitely come back. Otherwise, keep on moving.

This restaurant may be small, but they way it's decorated, it looks like a museum of delicate artifacts. It's very peaceful. We were seated right away. Their menu is so extensive that it took awhile to order. Our waitress, Tara, was very sweet and patient with us. We finally ordered- I had the tuna/ avocado w/ wasabi dressing salad (AMAZING), spicy salmon roll, voodoo roll, and a futomaki roll. Unfortunately, I had to send the spicy salmon back- it was filled with bones :( Tara was very sweet and asked if I wanted to try something else- I settled for a spicy salmon roll. My friend ordered Bento Box B w/ a Philly roll. We were both very pleased with what we ordered. I will definitely be returning to this place to try some of their specialty rolls real soon :)

Yelpers were right about this sushi spot! I am truly a fan of this quaint little restaurant. The fat girl in me tried the magic roll and the hibachi chicken dinner. While Seito Sushi continues to be number one choice for sushi, both selections were excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.

One of the worst sushi place ever! I'm from LA and I eat sushi at least 3-4 times a week by an authentic Japanese chef. This place sucks! All employees are Chinese and they don't know how to make sushi. What made I gave them 1 star is that, they gave us last piece (we ordered 4 pieces but they only had one left) of their uni (sea urchin) which is our favourite, once we eat it, we can tell right away that the uni they gave us is close to rotten or already rotten. I never had uni that taste like this before in my life (and yes I know how to eat uni since I always eat live ones and the ones with sushi). The rice is hard. I would say that's not the rice for sushi but more like normal steamed rice. I also asked for halibut which is the most basic fish for Japanese restaurant and they didn't have it as well. I would never recommend this place to anyone plus I felt dizzy for another 2-3 hours from that rotten uni.

This is my new sushi spot. When the waitress greeted us with the hot, moist towels for our hands I was impressed. I'm not big on raw meat so the Poison Spider roll (cooked seafood) was absolutely perfect. My friend had the Philadelphia roll and was impressed. She said it was better than her "usual spot". I stepped out on a limb and tried the fried ice cream and it was delicious. No complaints. Pricing is reasonable. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Saw it on Groupon but I would go back without a coupon.

I tried Mikado Sushi with another person thanks to a Groupon deal. What a great experience! The sushi was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. We also had a great server who was attentive and helpful. We split one of the sushi combos which included a California roll, spicy tuna roll, and salmon roll. We also added a Drama Queen roll. All were great! The Drama Queen was a little spicy for my liking, but still enjoyable. The miso soup was good. The salad is pretty much typical of what you would find in most sushi restaurants. I enjoyed the meal and the experience and would definitely go back to try more items from the menu!

I ordered the shrimp tempura entrees for dinner. Pros: The service was great and the food was delicious until... Cons: When shrimps are not old or kind of fresh, I don't normally get hives. Unfortunately, couple of hours later, I started getting hives on my back and arms. I ended up taking 2 Benadryl to prevent myself on going to the hospital. All in all, it wasn't bad.

  • Joey P.

I love that this place is so close to home and off the beaten path! We ordered 3 rolls and 2 salads and the bill was under $36. The rolls were delicious and I'm excited to go back again. Our server was very attentive and always close by.

My favorite place to get sushi. Excellent selection, great little place. I love their specialty rolls, and the service is excellent. Honestly this is the best sushi I have had compared to Amura or other downtown places. I highly recommend visiting this place, even though its tacked away in a small quiet plaza, do not miss out this great place.

Went here for lunch. We ordered Bento boxes. The food was below average compared to other similar restaurants. Nothing really special. And the service was disorganized, the waitresses seemed lost. Our waitress couldn't tell us if she had seltzer water and brought two separate checks when we didn't even ask for one? Maybe we just went on an off day?

My favorite sushi place here in Orlando. They make a tuna tartar that is the absolute bomb. This location in particular makes it the best. I have never had any thing here that I didn't like. There sushi is so fresh and the staff is so friendly. I wish they would open a location where I live in Lake Nona. I have been going to this location for a number of years since they 1st opened in Metro West.

Went here with a friend for lunch during the week and it was great. Neither of us got sushi (my friend couldn't eat it and I didn't order out of solidarity), but the tonkatsu and shrimp tempura were really great! It was affordable, the service was great, and I liked the environment, so I'll definitely be back to try it again in the future.

Our favorite Sushi bar in Orlando! To many on the menu to mention but hear are a few of our favorites. The volcano, the ultimate sandwich and the magic are the best avg price $11 very good price for the high quality of sushi. It's a feast for the eyes as well as the plate.

Uber friendly service. Cute place. Very good sushi and sashimi- salmon tasted fresh and like butter! Next door is a bar that plays loud, booming music--so we ate to the 'boom boom boom.' Other than that everything about this place is very good. Worth coming back to!

This place is amazing! I went on a friend's recommendation and I now compare all sushi places to this. First off the staff is very friendly and efficient. They now recognize my husband and I when we walk in. It has a great atmosphere, very quiet and cozy. You have the option to sit at a table, booth, or the sushi bar. Food wise there is no comparison! The sushi is fresh and delicious. Also very creative. My standard rolls include the fried calamari (essentially calamari tempura), tiger roll (tuna, yellowtail, salmon, avocado, cucumber wrapped in rice paper), Las Vegas roll, and of course the ultimate sandwich (sushi style sandwich!). I also ALWAYS get a plain tuna roll because it is good quality and fresh. And a clear soup...mmmmmm... Their prices are pretty good too. Under $5 for their basic fish rolls, going up to $12-$15 for the super specialty rolls. For my husband and I to get 6 rolls, 2 soups, sodas, and tip lands around $55. But it's totally worth it. They also have 3 locations. I frequent the Raleigh St. Location, but there is also one in Hunters Creek and Lake Mary. Definitely a place you need to try if you love sushi!

This place is one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to. It's not the most romantic place you've ever eaten at, but the food and presentation is some of the best I've ever seen. The sushi is incredibly fresh and looks like a work of art when it arrives at your table. They also give you an option to fill out a menu card if you don't want to be bothered by the waitress; I'm old fashioned, so I didn't fill one out. We ordered the edamame and duck rolls (quite different, yet extremely good) the godzilla roll and a tempura roll I forget the name of. It was also quite packed for a Wednesday night, so you know it must be good. Everything was amazing. I will definitely frequent this place.

  • Kim T.

Great food. 6 of us in our family 10 yrs old and up. Beef noodles, chicken teriyaki, out of control roll, several other rolls that I forget. Service was polite and prompt. Highly recommended neighborhood sushi. Went there a 2nd time and liked as much as the first time.

  • Nicole E.

Came here based on other reviews and they were right on. This is a really cute little place, very clean, and everything was super fresh. This is now our casual sushi spot. So very happy we came!

Really good experience. The service it's fast and friendly, the fish it's fresh and tasty. They have a good variety of sakes. Fair price, clean, smell good, not like a sushi market. I'll come back !

  • Frances A.

    (4)

  • Alicia G.

  • Zathaniel N.

Sushi was amazing. The atmosphere was a tad under expected. There was a weird smell that could have been from anything or maybe they were just having an off day with the sea weed. Overall had it not would have been for the brick I tripped on when I went in there and the smell this place would waist have gotten 5 stars.

    (4)

    (5)

In an area where you're likely to find chain restaurants and fast food joints, Mikado is a great find. Their lunch specials are well priced, hovering right around $10. While this isn't the best sushi in Orlando, as I like their other location in Hunter's Creek better, it's still pretty good.

  • Helena S.

    (5)

Really good, adorable sushi! Bonsai Roll has no rice- highly recommended and the Ultimate Sandwich are two that I recommend. So delicious.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Definitely worth spending a few more bucks for the special rolls. Service is good, friendly people. Nice atmosphere. Overall, definitely recommended!

My sister and I met here one day for lunch and were very impressed with the quality of the sushi and the presentation of same. I wouldn't hesitate to stop by again when in the area. They also had some good bento lunch specials (good in both quality and value for money.)
