This place is clean and welcoming. Honestly the food is fresh and plenty of choices! If you love food with flavor, this is for you. The choices were overwhelming (especially since we live far from any Puerto Rican Restaurant) - we wanted everything! The prices are out of this world ridiculous. Last night we spent over $50 on our Latin meal (granted it was also spectacular) but we only spent $14 here. We couldn't leave without stocking up on treats and there daily fresh bread...$13 for a ton of stuff including their famous quesito. #foodieanddontcare

Every time I've been here they have been so rude. I returned because of convenience, but if you're not Spanish speaking, they are rude and slight you on the food. Not going back there.

Came here for breakfast. It was a little bit of a challenge. We walked in and didn't know what to do as we were not greeted. I saw two groups walk out because of this. As the person who was in front of us completed their order, we were asked if it was our first time here. We replied yes. We were then given menus to look over to order. After you know what you like, place your order, given a buzzer, seat where you like, and wait until buzzer goes off, then pick your food up from the opposite side of the counter. Sadly the breakfast I ordered was horrible. Looks like food is most favorable for their pastries, which looked delicious by the way and lunch and dinner selections. I will come again to try their lunch. I feel they could work on their customer service especially with the restaurant right in from of a La Quinta hotel as Im sure they get quite a new comers coming in and out of there.

It may be loud when you walk in, with long lines and sometimes a wait for seating too but I have to admit that I like it here. Holy cow, try the jugos naturales, they're SOOO good!! Personally I'd stick with the hot foods like mofongo, chicken, pork, etc, their sandwiches don't seem to be a strong point, they're just ok. Overall though it's cheap, flavorful, and I'll be back!

Excellent service, loved the cleanliness, staff was super friendly. They have a great menu and the prices, well you can't beat that! They have a food line and if you don't want t order from the menu you can make your selection from this line and they have a great variety of food, all fresh, great presentation and everything is delicious! I was simply amazed by the taste of everything I tried (yes I did try a little bit of everything) I just couldn't resist!! Ribs, chicken, white rice and beans, yellow rice with pork, I'm telling you, out of this world! Then we went to get some pastries to bring them back to the office, we had vanilla flan and quesitos these are filled with cheese, absolutely amazing and just the perfect way to finish our meals. I will definitely be back to this place, next time will be to try their breakfast.

I consider this a 3 star because it's a place I've eaten that I don't regret going to but it's nothing amazing. It's average on my list. I have had a breakfast sandwich here and a dinner here. For the money it's good. Would I go again? Yes. Do I recommend you stop here? Yes if your in the area and want some good Spanish food. This is not a place you would take a date and drive more than a few mins for though.

Bad service. The food wasn't the best. You can't choose the sides you want for your plate, very unfriendly cashier. No waitress to assist the customers in the tables.

Hello there my little new Best Friend. My Goodness you can smell the aroma of Spanish food as soon as you walk in, and the aroma is a good one. Spanish Bakery.....I am in serious trouble. So here's the deal you can order buffet style, or you place your order with the three cashiers and they will give you a buzzer thingy, and you wait to be buzzed to pick up your order from the counter. My family and I decided to come here for Breakfast, put it like this a breakfast for four people cost $28.00 dollars and it was super tasty. I mean this place is the perfect combination of cheap and great food. I opted for Breakfast Over Medium, Eggs, Ham, Pancakes, Toasted Bread, and a side order of Oatmeal. I had the Puerto Rican version of Horchata that was unbelievably delightful. I could not help but stare are the delicious selection of desserts which included Flan Cheesecake, Bread Pudding, and Guava Cheesecake. The buffet options included anywhere from delicious seasoned chicken, pork, and rice. I honestly wanted to eat everything in sight. This particular establishment has two locations and people love this place because it is jam packed and for good reason. This is definitely a place as soon as you walk in you know you are about to delve into an excellent adventure of spanish food. It does not get better then this. My new favorite.

Very disappointed. The line was extremely slow, the 2 stars are because of the awesome yuca and the people serving the food, but the cashiers were dry and bitter. Besides that, the pork was veeeery dry, the amarillos were the frozen ones, the ribs and chicharrones were tastless, well cooked but just tasteless, for a Puerto Rican place this is unforgivable. The Nutella Frappe was very good. The seafood salad was good, the 3 leches was good, the tornillo was good, the tembleque was ok, but the quesitos tasted like burned and barely has cheese on it. It should be a 2.5 stars but more into the low 2s than almost 3. Wanted to like it a lot, but not going back.

A new spanish bakery/restaurant next to the office? Heck yeah I want to check it out. The restaurant is actually an old Perkins remodeled. Quite nice inside, and decent amount of room for guests. The employees were all rather cheerful and excited, of course that could be because they just recently opened, but if they keep it up, coming here will be very pleasurable. Now, the food. When you first walk in you have a choice to make. The lunch line or the bakery line. The lunch line takes you to a counter of prepared food that you pick and choose from to create your meal. There were quite a few choices, which is good. It was also inexpensive. $4.99 gets you white rice, beans, and a meat of your choice. Add-ons are available for $1. The bakery line takes you to cases full of delicious looking pastries. Didn't try them this time, but next time for sure. This is also the line if you would like to order something specific from their menu. Lots of variety available. All in all it was a great experience and I look forward to going again.

Great food at a great price. Service was fast and friendly. The food tastes homemade. Reminded me of my moms cooking.

I was so disappointed with this place. Their food is very good but their service is just terrible. This is not a place to go and sit down and eat. Take out is fine. No table service at all. If you need salt or pepper or even sugar for your café con Leche, you have to stand up and find these all across their dining room ... Then, while your eating in your booth, they have this big trashcan on wheels and all the left overs from customer's plates, are thrown in there. Right in front of you while you're eating. I paid 20.00 dollars for 2 scrambled eggs and 2 café con Leche and the eggs were all dried up. I can not recommended this place except to take orders out but not to dine in. Not returning back

Very busy, very loud. It's looks very packed but people are coming and going all the time, so parking spaces, lines, and tables are constantly opening up. Food was decent. Mofongo was a little dry. Waiting about 15 minutes for food order. Dining room staff were very good keeping up on cleaning the tables. Cashiers seemed friendly. The lines were pretty easy to figure out: three at the front, pretty much order bakery or a la carte. There's another in the back for after you get food from the "cafeteria" side. Said there was Wi-Fi, I didn't see it.. Didn't try the bakery but the other good was okay.

Complete mayhem in this place but the food is good! When you walk in you'll see three registers in a row crammed between the bakery display and the buffet line. (Pick the register to the far right for baked goods/a la cart). Usually there is a guy in the lobby handing out menus and directing traffic. It's a chaotic mess in the mornings and lunchtime with everyone crammed on top of each other but don't be discouraged. Allot an extra 10-15 minutes for waiting in line (during normal prime time hours: breakfast, lunch, dinner) to pay/get your food. It's also very loud with all the people and Spanish speaking employees calling out orders (I don't mind, I like the commotion). They work very fast and try to get everyone their orders quickly which is appreciated. I came here for breakfast and had a cinnamonbun-looking pastry and it was good and I've tried their cuban sandwich which was very tasty. They have a whole assortment of Spanish pastries and food. The place smells great and I want to come back and try their other meals. EVERYTHING LOOKS AMAZING. Be sure to grab a menu when you come in because the tv monitors on the walls change quickly and it's hard to read everything they list. Also, if you decide to order your food "to-go" the pickup line is in the back past the buffet line). The only criticism I have is that they should have designed the "check-out" / cashier area better. It's quite confusing when it's crowded to know where to go and they could've executed their system more efficiently to make the crowd "flow" and not just be a complete mess. All in all, this place has good food and the employees are friendly. This place is going to be a new "regular" for me.

Imagine if Dr. Seuss designed a restaurant and it was filled with delicious Latin food and tons of screaming people. Well, no need to imagine! It's called Melao Bakery! It was 8:20p (40 minutes before closing) on Friday and my fiancee, her parents and myself enter the restaurant. There is a logjam of people with 3 (yes, THREE) separate lines for food. These "lines" aren't clearly defined or anything but just people heading in three different directions. Also an in-house balloon maker who seemed to pop 1 out of 4 balloons... Luckily, her parents had been here before so they explained the winding line to the right was for baked goods. The small herd of people in front of us were for a la carte items and the third line was a hot bar where you could order items as you saw them. Again, none of this is explained and the people coming in behind us also seemed to be completely baffled by the concept of this place. My first impression of the restaurant was the decor was dated and it didn't appear to be very clean so based on that, I didn't order any seafood and opted for mofongo with steak and onions. Everyone else in the party got some form of mofongo also. I'm not sure if I was just starving (it took 35 minutes for our buzzer to go off) or if it was actually good, but I really enjoyed the mofongo. The steak was overcooked and kinda greasy but I inhaled it anyway. Everyone enjoyed what they had including some free boiled yuca that was given to us because they mixed up my father-in-law's order. Afterwards, we went into the first line and ordered a bunch of deserts to share including a quesito, cake and assorted pastries. The questito was OUTSTANDING and the other pastries were equally scrumptious. Starting to understand why hordes of people descend upon this place even at 9p. Overall I gave 3 stars because I thought the pastries were excellent, the food was good and the prices are very reasonable. But I wouldn't eat here again by choice because I was still sketched out by the cleanliness and nothing would make me want to go through that circus of a line again. There are plenty of great PR restaurants in Orlando and would much rather go to one of those.

What a great place to grab a cheap quality bite to eat. The food is fresh, fairly priced, and fulfilling. Open seating and the service is quick. The staff primarily speaks Spanish, but you can get along ordering in English just fine. The bakery has lots of desserts to choose from and the food is prepared buffet style right in front of you. I ate here with 4 people and only paid $28, with food left over. I may be biased giving it 5 stars, since I'm Puerto Rican and this is a Puerto Rican Bakery. However, I doubt no one will dislike this place. Once you go Rican, you don't go seeking.

We liked Melao but there are other choices we prefer because the crowds and confusing lines just didn't do it for us.

Service: Unusual-there is seating but you have to stand in line to order before being seated. Then you have to pick up your food...there are no servers. Price: Very reasonable. We had two scrambled egg 1 with ham and 1 with bacon, hash browns and bread breakfasts; 2 coffees and 1 OJ for $13. Accuracy: not good. Out of 2 breakfasts there were 2 mistakes. Cleanliness: not spotless but pretty good. Food: The OJ was freshly squeezed & very good. The eggs were ok. The bacon and hash browns were very greasy. No bueno. Won't be going back.

I went there with some friends and we all faced the same problems with service. It was not easy to change anything in the breakfast combos and after they did the change and we waited for 20 minutes (almost empty restaurant) the food came as it was originally, they didn't honor the changes. When tried to talk to a manager, the guy with a little smile in his face said he will get him but never showed up. Service was awful. Not going back.

The food was great. I had a breakfast sandwich, cafe con leche and a quesito. Everything was prepared fresh and hot. As I was leaving the lunch was coming out. It looked delicious! I wish I lived closer. I highly recommend it. Not only was the place so clean but the staff was very accommodating with great customer service.

While in Orlando we noticed a constant influx of patrons in/out of this place so we had to try it. We had weekday lunch here before heading home. The Media Noche hot sandwich was tasty however a little light on the meat and we ordered it with no cheese (my husband doesn't do dairy). We also ordered the Papa Melao (a stuffed potato) which was something we would order again. It's huge and would be easy to share. The desserts, frozen ice & and frappés looked amazing. We were too full from the meal to try any, next time. The line to order food moves very quick. The buffet style food looked good; next time.

You would think they would read these comments and do something about the confusion. Nope, three lines of people & you have no idea what the purpose of each line is! We got lucky & ended up in the prepared food line (think cafeteria style). The food had been sitting in the warming trays for hours, so nothing was fresh. We choose chicken that came with rice & beans. You can pay $1 extra for other side items. They call themselves a bakery but you don't get bread with your meal :-( The chicken was not bad, beans were good, fried rice was hardly edible. No refills on drinks. The ONLY reason to go here is for their reasonable prices...

I have been here twice now. The food is made fresh and the price is CHEAP!!!. If you order a sandwich or mofongo, they will give a a buzzer while you wait for it to be prepared. My wife got a mortadella sandwich and it was $3.99. How do they make money? I got a melao burger. It was awesome. The fries that came with it just came out of the fryer and I love them that way. On out second visit I had the mofongo with fried pork. Awesome.

Staying at the Days Inn across the street from this establishment, saw a huge crowd at this place and decided to try it out. So glad i did, I'm not sure what all the dishes were but i asked for a chicken dish got rice beans plantain and another dish that looked good and turned out to be as good as it looked. Highly recommended this establishment.

Great hispanic food but must stand in line to order the food, like a cafeteria. Prices are great but the lines are long.

Honestly I don't understand the positive reviews except for the prices... I found the staff rude (I don't speak Spanish) ( no refills on soda ) I got breakfast for my staff no hash browns after I waited and they substituted disgusting French fries even though I paid extra for hash browns and no one even cared. This was after I waited for 25 minutes for breakfast and they REFUSED to refill my soda. Omelette dried out and nasty . We won't ever be back. Not worth the hassle !

Crowded parking lot but disorganization everywhere inside this place! Went in at 11 AM and left at noon with out eating anything. Placed our order at 11:11 and our buzzer went off at 11:45 to pick up but only had one drink order ready. After 3 times of being told two more minutes, we gave up, got our money back, and left hungry.

    (1)
  • Mark E.

I've taken a look at the parking lot and from the looks of it would think it was packed and with good reason. As soon as one enters the premise, one can see chaos every which way you look. First of all, you MUST figure out which line it is you're going to order from depending on the item. Otherwise, it's a lot of wasted time for a meal that's only warm and a bit over priced for portions you can get anywhere else for less! So my suggestion to you, skip this place which honestly only looks very nice but yet is very disorganized, hence the full parking lot...

    (1)
  • Jeff M.

And I thought only Asians didn't give refills! Get with the times people! Food is good. Slow service but it's because it's packed! Don't go on the weekends if you're in a hurry!
