A small mom and pop Chinese restaurant with just okay food. It might satisfy a craving, but it won't be memorable. A better bet for lunch than dinner. Service is generally good, because the place is seldom crowded.

Came here after a cruise craving for Chinese food. We had a big party so we had a good spread of food . The dishes we had were good . The only things noted that i remember is the chicken wings are big wings that were just a tad too salty . The spicy tofu dish wasn't that spicy . The ratio from meat to veggie in a dish is off so if you like more meat then veggies then just a little FYI . But over all good and i would def come back if i ever need my Chinese food fix .

As four stars mean "Yay! I'm a fan.", Lotus Garden deserves four stars. When in the mood for Chinese food, this is usually my go-to place. It is a very good neighborhood Chinese restaurant. I find it better than other similar restaurants in the area. The food is well done, reasonably priced and provided in large portions (for take out). Take out is the norm here as the restaurant is rarely packed, but there is a steady flow of people coming and leaving with the large brown papers bags full of General Tso's chicken, egg rolls, crab rangoon, fried rice and lo mein. All the standards are there, and in my experience, all have been good. I have seen them get the order wrong once in about 50 visits which, while annoying is probably better than average. If you do eat in, I have found the portions to be smaller. Service is usually good, and the staff is always polite. One bit of take out advice, if they tell you it will be 20 minutes, give them a few extra minutes, particularly on a Friday or Saturday. When they tend to be busy you can end up waiting at the entrance of the restaurant a while. Overall, the restaurant is exactly what it purports to be, a local Chinese restaurant. It is not overly fancy, and will not impress the uppity types who think trendy P.F. Changs type fare and ambiance are the way to go. If you crave good, traditional Chinese food, come here. Its worth it!

I wanted to love this local restaurant. However the food I ordered for pick up just wasn't good. I wish I'd spent a few more dollars and ordered from Pei Wei just down the street. I know everyone has their own taste requirements when it comes to Chinese food. After one gummy pork dumpling and a spoonful of greasy rice, I found myself throwing out the phone ordered food. Really I would rather save the enormous amount of calories in this meal for something that actually tastes great. In all fairness it was my first visit to this restaurant so maybe I just caught them on an off night. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things? This place and its food is just not for me. P.S. Very nice lady behind the counter!

Nice quiet place to grab lunch I have eaten at the restaurant once before, but many many years ago. When I was there the first time I was with a large group and enjoyed myself tremendously. I think this experience really pulled through with the food. I recalled the food being fantastic and worth a second trip. I don't live in the Dr. Phillips area, but happened to be over in that direction one Saturday and decided to stop back in for a quick lunch. The restaurant was exactly how I remembered, but much more quite. Besides my mother and I there was only one other table being served. I ordered their Mongolian beef and it was 80/20...80% green onions ans water cress and 20% meat. Tasty however. My mother ordered a noodle dish of some sort and was not blow away by it, but still ate and enjoyed it. The service was good, and the staff was really nice. They have standard Chinese food, nothing to write home about however. I'd go back, its quick, quite and a nice place to catch up with pretty "A-OK" food.

I'm a firm believer in comparing restaurants I review to like restaurants when assigning stars. This is basically a mom and pop stripmall type chinese restaurant that does a heavy delivery and take out business. Comparing it to others of its type - it is a solid 4 star offering. The menu is like any other restaurant of its type - all your favorites in beef, chicken, seafood and pork are on it. I tried the cashew chicken which had lots of fresh veggies and a TON of cashews. The won-ton soup was also great and the fried noodles as a snack were yummy. The quality level, service level and decor (if you decide to eat in!) are what places this above other chinese restaurants of a similar type. This place has been around forever and does a very heavy take-out business so clearly I am not the only one who has noticed they are doing something right in this area which has a lack of good Chinese food.

Traditional Hunan style chinese food. I'd agree with other reviews that this is, by far, the best Chinese Restaurant in the immediate area. It's a very pleasant indoor dining/lunch experience, but best known for their take-out. I'm a big fan of their wonton and egg drop soups, as well as their cashew chicken, sweet and sour pork/chicken, garlic sauce chicken and General Tso's (if you want the basics). The service is friendly and helpful. The prices are great, especially for the quality, location and amount of food you'll be getting. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good chinese restaurant in the area.

Lotus Garden is my standard neighborhood Chinese delivery place. It's certainly nothing spectacular, but it hits the spot when I'm in an urgent need for lo mein and sauteed string beans (delicious). The food is pretty good, although I only find part of the menu appetizing. One thing I do appreciate is the lack of excessive oil that I've found at nearby Chinese take-out competitors. Overall, Lotus Garden is consistent in quality and will accommodate substitutions/preferences. Everything is reasonably priced as well.

If the food and service was as good as the decor, this would be an amazing place. Sadly, that is not the case. The lunch menu looked very promising with very affordable prices so I settled on the Mongolian beef, hot and sour soup, fried rice, and egg roll. The Mongolian beef promises to be hot and spicy but as usual, I asked for 'extra spicy hot'. The beef was very tender but almost tasteless. Even the brown sauce the meat and veggies were cooked in was very bland. As for the spicy - forget it. Of course that meant extra spicy was not within the kitchen capabilities. There were only 2 tables occupied at lunch yet my beverage glass was empty for my entire meal. The server finally came around for a refill but by then I was ready to leave. Report card reads A+ for decor, A+ for pricing, C- for food taste, and a D- for service. Service would have been an F but the server was at least friendly.

Chicken lo mein dinner for $6.75 -- not much chicken and very salty sauce, rude waitress, not that great of an experience, best part of the dinner was the diet coke and fortune cookies

While visiting Orlando, we ate at this restaurant per a recommendation from my Asian son-in-law. The food was delicious. It was the best Chinese food I've had in years. Service was great. I high recommend it. #chinesefood

I had not been to a chinese restaurant in Orlando until I ate at this place. Enter, and the lady sitting at the entrance was busy on the phone, and she did not budge for 5 minutes or so and did not even acknowledge our presence. After that, she beckoned us with a half disgusted face to be seated. Next, a waitress came without even looking at us and almost threw the menus at us. We almost made up our mind to leave, but stay put and thought of trying food at least. Equally disappointing was the food. The spiciest and hottest dishes were so bland that even my 4 year old could eat it without tasting any spices. No salt in the food, although I spotted couple of 'hair' pieces in my food. Oh, and the dipping sauce and chips they gave were the worst of the lot. The chips were certainly stale and the dipping sauce was absolutely tasteless. It might be just my bad luck, but this was definitely the worst place I have ever been to , in Orlando, for dinner. Never, never coming back or ordering anything from this place. While I am typing, my stomach is playing a perfect 'pathetic chinese food' orchestra !!!

Ordered delivery as I was sick and didn't want to leave and wanted soup. I ordered a lunch special which was ok with hot n sour soup which is usually good however not this time! The soup had no flavor which is a major downfall Would I go back or order soup from there again not hot n sour soup

I wasn't expecting much for a touristy Chinese restaurant but this was just... not good. I'm not even talking about taste. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken and the chicken was SOUR, like it had been sitting out for way too long. The server kindly replaced the order with a vegetable lo mein but it also didn't taste right. My mom got beef and string beans, but the entire dish was way too oily. Probably won't be back to Orlando anytime soon, but Lotus Garden definitely won't be getting a return visit.

When we walked in the woman at the front desk was rude, she was eating and told us to seat ourselves and she did not bring menus. The server was polite and attentive. I went for the lunch and the lunch menu is decent and the prices were reasonable but the food was just okay. In truth I will probably not return to this place agin based on the food and the way I was treated upon arrival.

I threw up right after eating the orange chicken. I'm so pissed! I spent $9.95 plus soup was 14.95 total. The inside of the Orange chicken was balled up batter with small pieces of what I hope was chicken. I'm not one to bash on a business but this seriously needs revision. I do not recommend this food at all! Fix it and the customers will come. Don't fix it and stay empty!

Friendly, welcoming place, nice but not too big. Old School Chinese for those remember how Chinese food tasted before rush of the rush of all-you-can eat garbage. Decor was fine, would prefer white linen tables. Menu had a good range of items. Food was fresh and seasoned, plenty of flavor, but not salty. Balanced amount of soy. In the heart of the pricy Dr. Phillips ares, yet very reasonable priced. Solid food, I will go again.

I was delighted to find a local Chinese restaurant with a great variety of menu options. The place was quietly subdued with soft Chinese music playing in the background. The staff had a system and everyone knew what steps to take just as soon as we were seated. Clockwork!! The waitress was pleasant, helpful and with a ready smile...and caring attitude. I had the Cashew Chicken which had a great balance of vegetables, chicken, and cashews. The sauce was flavorful...I had a mild green tea, I was also going to order the Pu-Pu Platter but was not ready to eat that much late in the evening. Everyone else ordered some very hot dishes. If you go, please be prepared to take extra food home because they serve more than enough!

We live nearby and this is the best Chinese food in the area. Certainly not the best I've ever had, but we enjoy our favorites here (including General Tso's Chicken, Lo Mein, and Pepper Steak). We always order takeout which can sometimes be a bit of challenge since one of the ladies speaks with a thick accent. The place is almost always empty when I go in, so I imagine their takeout business is their money-maker. I'm open to alternatives since its not amazing food, but this is the best local place we have tried and we'll stick with it until some place better comes along.

It is what it is. Plain and simple. If you come for the $5 lunch and expect fine dining food or service, that's your problem. If you are only in search of a quick $5 lunch, then you'll be happy. Food is fine. Service is meh (you'll get shouted at by the lady here, it's standard). I have never been sick. I am a repeat customer. That should say enough.

I am hopeful our search for a Chinese food delivery spot in the area is over! I ordered take out for supper last week during a bachelor night. I picked it up simply because I was in the area. (Also really glad to see the great mall area seems to be coming back to life). It was early, around 5, so other than another woman picking up there was no one else there. The lady at the counter was pleasant when answering questions and taking my order. The wait was fairly short but I had time to look around. Nice, if predictable, decor. I did like the magazines beside the waiting bench! Nice touch. The smell of the food was promising but I wasn't getting my hopes up after several really awful recent experiences. I ordered a Shanghai Spring roll and chicken & broccoli with garlic sauce made spicy. Very flavorful and fresh! HAPPY! Still, after so many bad experiences I wanted to try again before reviewing so about a week later we ordered delivery. Though we were told 45 minutes our food arrived hot about 30 minutes later by a very nice man. Steamed vegetable dumplings were INCREDIBLE! I wish I hadn't offered to split them with a man who LOVES steamed dumplings. The vegetable egg roll was still dripping in oil so a lot of blotting was necessary. Chicken in Garlic Sauce made as on the menu and the "I Don't Know" (that's the name) looked great and had lots of flavor but I forgot to ask for it to be made spicy. That's on me but now I can say that the mild version is still pretty flavorful. SO HAPPY - I think we've found our new Chinese food delivery place!

I've gone to Orlando twice in the last year and I stopped in to the Lotus Garden for both of those trips. For my first visit, I was alone on business and for the second trip, I had my family with me. I just had to show them the great little Chinese restaurant that I found. They too were impressed. The location is pretty awesome because it's located in a shopping center that has a lot of cool little shops and dining establishments. There is also a World of Beer close. Give yourself some extra time to walk around and look at the other shops. The Lotus Garden is clean and decorated traditionally. They have many tables as the dining area is fairly big. I've only gone on week nights and both nights it was dead. I'm not sure if it gets busy on the weekends. The service is excellent. They are fast, polite, and responsive. The food is really good. Everything we ordered was delicious. You also get little strips and dipping sauce free once you order your food. It's like the Chinese version of chips and salsa. You really don't need an appetizer though since the portions are huge. My only real knock against them is the bathrooms. They need to be remodeled and kept clean. Other than that, I'm a fan.

Always order here when family comes into town and no one wants to cook for 10 people. We always get exactly what we order in a short amount of time. The food is better than average and you get plenty of it as well. The customer service is good, but I've never actually eaten inside so I can't verify if the servers are good or bad. My experiences have always been good though and this is my family's go to for fast, cheap, and lots of Chinese food in the neighborhood.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
