The food is amazing, the price is right, the staff is friendly. The pernil with white rice & beans, and tostones/ sweet plantains are excellent. The mofongo is great too. Best Puerto Rican food in the area. Two thumbs up.

I dont usually do reviews, but I had to write something about this restaurant... I have been going to eat there since they opened last year.. Nunca he tenido una mala experiencia.. The food is always great, and the staff super friendly... Of course sometimes we have to wait for our food for 10 minutes or so, but then again, awesome things come to those who wait... and let me tell you.. Awesome awesome awesome tasty food it is... This has become my favorite Puerto Rican place to eat in Orlando with my entire family...

I like the ambiance and the service which gave me hopes that the food was good. I was very dissapointed by the espresso to the point that I took it back after two small sips. I got the pernil (pork) lunch special, which came out as sliced pork which was dry and salty. The rice and sweet plantains were just ok. The best thing they had was the garlic/butter bread. The price is good.

It was my first time eating here and the decor was simple but enticing. I had the Pernil (Pork Shoulder) with yellow rice, black beans and sweet plantains. The food was flavorful and delicious. I would definitely eat here again and recommend anyone with a taste for Spanish cuisine to try this place for sure!

The food was okay. For a place called Latin Roots, you think they would embrace their roots with loud music, over lighting, and dancing but sadly it was the exact opposite. Expectations denied.

What a great find. This is why it pays to consult Yelp when you are on the road. Latin Roots rocks. I always like to check out local joints when I'm on the road. Latin Roots is affordable, tastes, authentic, and definitely local. I started with chicken empanadas - good flavor but more of a deep fried crispy texture than pillowy. They were definable fresh and made of quality ingredients. I also ordered the roast pork. Unbelievably delicious. It rivaled the roast pork at El Siboney in Key West. Believe you me, that's high praise. I also had a glass of red sangria - I highly recommend this as well. If you find yourself in the area, skip the plethora of chains in the area and seek out Latin Roots.

It's a great little restaurant. The food is good. I would come back again. The service was very attentive.

The food is great, the yuca mofongo is the best I have ever tried, portion are average. If you go during the lunch special price and portion is perfect, if you go during the afternoon it's a bit expensive for the portion but the food is great!

Wow...had to come and try this restaurant. ...and we were not disappointed at all. Service was good...food was better... it's home away from home... very rare will you find that truly authentic puerto Rica flavor. Yes I know why go to a restaurant when it's what I cook at home...but sometimes I just want to go to mom's and this place takes me there. ..I rated 5 stars but clearly it's a 10. I recommend this place and prices are reasonable. ..as compared to guavate and mofongo...no pun intended but latin roots is my new favorite spanish restaurant. ..have not been to guavate in over 4 months and I will never go back to mofongo.... .

The food at this establishment is amazing and the device is exceptional. Prices are very fair. This is my favorite Latin restaurant in the area and I would recommend it to any one.

The food here was good, although I did find it a little underwhelming. I probably should have gone with my first choice, and ordered the mofongo, which looked fantastic. Alas, I ordered some chicken with rice and beans, which was just OK. Service was a little slow during lunch, even though there weren't that many people around. I'll probably swing by one more time to try the mofongo.

What a gem! This was such a great find. The food was delicious and very authentic, and the menu had many items that we didn't recognize. The best of these, and their signature item, was the mofongos!

I stopped by after acquiring a $10 off deal from Restaurant.com . When I walked in there was no hostess by the door but after about 3 minutes, one of the young ladies saw me standing there and escorted me to my seat and given a menu. Several minutes later she returned to take my drink order. She arrived with my iced tea but it was sweet and I ordered unsweetened tea. She quickly corrected that. I let her know this was my first time here and asked what specials they had. She pointed to the lunch specials and quickly named a few but did not really detail what they were. I asked for recommendations and she just stuck to the basics and her best recommendation was the Bistec De Palomilla Salteado. I ordered it with the Trifongo in spite of the up charge along with a side salad. Some garlic bread was brought to the table but it was just a smashed bun with some garlic butter that was grilled. My lunch came out all at once and it was a bit of a let down. The salad was a little bit of iceberg lettuce and two thin slices of tomato and a cucumber slice but the portion was tiny. The Trifongo was a generous portion and looked very nice. The Bistec De Palomilla Salteado looked fine but the peppers were under cooked and the onions were not caramelized. The Trifongo was great but when I asked for a sauce since I don't like my Mofongo dry, the server was only offering me some hot sauce. I let her know I wanted some sauce but all she brought me was some seasoned oil which did not go with the Trifongo at all and some hot sauce that was a bit sweet. I can't think of another place that has served me dry Mofongo. As for the Bistec De Palomilla Salteado, the beef had a good flavor and was nicely cooked but the under cooked peppers and uncaramelized onions sis not do the dish justice. I was offered dessert and when I asked about the offerings she told me about the papaya but never really elaborated. I asked what it was called and she just said it did not have an English translation and never even bothered to explain how the dish was made. I knew what Dulce de Papaya con Queso was but was simply playing dumb to see how she reacted. I ordered it and she seemed surprised but when it was delivered, the presentation did not wow me and the cloves and cinnamon was never strained out of the sauce. The taste was quite nice however... When it was time for my bill I let the server know I have a deal from restaurant.com and the bill was under $20 so I ordered the Flan De Vanilla. Straight up... It was the best thing I was served and it wowed me I have to say. I never let on to my server that I speak her language until AFTER the meal. I have found that if I let on I speak multiple languages I get a different level of service than if I do not let on that I speak multiple languages. That was the case today.... Note to my server... TREAT ALL OF YOUR GUESTS THE SAME REGARDLESS... I am going to assume today was just an off day and will give them another chance because that flan really wowed me enough to try several of the other menu items that my server SHOULD have recommended to me.

Excellent food, excellent service. I ordered the pernil lunch special and added the platano verde y platano maduro to it (up charge of a few bucks). This was very, very good. First time here. I've eaten mofongo at other places and they have been either too salty or just bland. This place hits the right balance. I will definitely be back. Was here on Wed.

This place is great. I've been here three times and everything that was ordered has been excellent. The service is good and the presentation of the food is very well done (see pictures). The portions are very generous. The place is in a strip mall and the layout is wide open so it is not the most upscale of locations but the food is truly a treat. As of this moment I would call this one of the top (if not the top) Puerto Rican restaurants in the UCF area/ East Orlando. Their lunch specials are a great deal, huge portions of delicious food and a drink for less than $7. The only caveat being that it does not include refills. The mofongo at this place is excellent. The "mofongo de yuca" is in a class of its own and deserves to be separately mentioned. I had never tried it before but it will not be long before I try it again! The alcapurrias are excellent. You get two small ones in one order and they came out perfect. I could go on and on about how good the food is but I won't. I've had three different meals at this place and they were all great. The only thing not worth raving out was their side salad as it was just okay. If you want some authentic Puerto Rican food, come by ASAP, you can't go wrong.

Was just ok. The Mofongo was dry, and the rest of the food was forgettable. Not bad. Just nothing to brag about.

Love this place. I've been going there since it opened and love the food and the people are extremely friendly. Their mofongo is amazing and they started making "el jibarito", which was to die for that i had this past week. A sandwich with plantains instead of bread and it was just amazing. Only if we lived closer

Simply amazing food!! My husband and I went to San Juan about 8 months ago and had been looking for some good Puerto Rican food and we found it! The churasco stuffed mofongo was delicious!! We highly recommend!

Tried this Puerto Rican/Latin restaurant out for the first time for lunch yesterday. Close to the office just off Alafaya Trail or Colonial Hwy in another strip mall, common occurrence in Orlando, but don't let that discourage you as the first thing to pull you in will be the great aroma of the food from the kitchen. Was all so familiar from other experiences yet totally inviting. Then you see a most of the tables full by people of 'Latin' heritage so they know if the food is prepared right & in sufficient quantities and they were right, great place & recommend to those still in search of a good place for PR/Latin cuisine, enjoy

Super tasty authentic family run Puerto Rican restaurant! My wife and I both have PR roots and this was just as good as home cooked. We had the pernil, rice and red beans, and garlic shrimp mofongo- all awesome! My wife usually adds salt to everything, but the seasoning of the food was so spot on that she didn't touch it. Will be back for sure!

I really hate to give a place with such nice staff two stars. Please take a look at how many people who review a place have friends and other reviews, since I think some reviews are not always entirely legitimate. These will be discovered, but only by personal experience and more reviews. The pollo empanizado and the pollo a la plancha both were noticeably frozen prior to being cooked. The taste was off and it took a few bites to figure out the chewiness was freezer burn. The appetizer we had was overfried, super greasy with no taste (a typical Puerto Rican item ... Meat stuffed inside a mashed root vegetable) as were the plantains. That is due to improper frying temperature... No cook should allow that to happen. The arroz con gandules was passable. The bread was well prepared and tasty. The portions were very generous but I won't be back. I am sad, since I always love small restaurants to succeed and do well. The decor is very homey and the restaurant is clean. I wish I could have written them a private note to tell them how to fix things, but I did not want to be presumptuous.

Tried this place out & it was fantastic. The food was really amazing. We ordered the breaded chicken and it was very good but the mofongo made of yuca & stuffed with churrasco was AWSOME! They also have fast & friendly service.

Seriousness good Puerto Rican food! Staff was very friendly with great customer service skills. When a table full of grandmas is hanging out eating and enjoying, you know it's gonna be good!

Amazing food and service. Prompt service. Clean restaurant. Great music and atmosphere. The triofongo was delicious as well as their fried pork and chicken. After your food make sure to order their tres leche I've never tasted one like it don't leave without one.

This is a family owned restaurant with great service and even better food. I had the monfongo con bacalao, trifongo con bacalao and con pollo. All of these dishes are so delicious. I would refer anyone looking for good Puerto Rican cuisine, look no further.

Wow!! How does a restaurant run out of its main staple? Pork!! Then make me wait 20 minutes to tell me they ran out.

Oh my Lord! Why did I find this place? So close to home too. This is going to be a problem. So, I had completely given up on going to Puerto Rican restaurants in Orlando. Can you believe it? But I heard great things about this place from friends so we decided to try it. It's definitely hard to find if you don't know where you are going. It's hidden inside the strip mall where Publix and Goodfellas are. It's relatively small and there are maybe like 12-15 tables. Upon walking in we were greeted by our server Natalia and she was wonderful throughout the whole time we were there. For drinks we ordered two sangrias, one red and one white. Natalia told us these were made in-house. My favorite was the white one. I think the base was peach. It was delicious and refreshing. During happy hour these are only $2! What?! I know! It could be dangerous. We decided to start with the alcapurrias. The plate comes with two nicely sized alcapurrias. Alcapurrias are these delicious, fattening, unhealthy fritters made from a dough of yucca, green bananas and/or plantains. Inside there is seasoned ground beef. Oh, these were soooo good. They were definitely homemade and served hot, straight from the fryer. They also bring fresh, hot, pressed bread with garlic and butter. Gone in no time. So, for my dinner I went with the yucca mofongo and octopus salad. I love yucca mofongo from Puerto Rico so I went on a limb to see if it was good here. And ohhhh it was, it was soooo amazingly delicious. Very soft and moist with pieces of crunchy chicharron and garlicky flavored mashed yucca. Heaven. We asked Natalia for some mojito and mayo ketchup as we like to dip some of the pieces in it. I love, love octopus. It was soft and clean and mixed in with onions, peppers, olive oil and a little vinegar. They gave me a lot of it too which was surprisingly nice. This tells me a lot because if not cooked right octopus can be very chewy and also they usually give you more onions/peppers than anything else. But not here! My BF had the Trifongo with carne frita. Trifongo is a mofongo made with plantains, yucca and sweet plantains (maduros). It was out of this world. You get the hint of sweetness from the maduros mixed in with some of the chicharron. Oh! Pure heaven. Carne frita was seasoned beautifully and sauteed with onions. For dessert we tried the coconut flan and it was really good. Perfectly creamy but I did not get a lot of coconut flavor. The prices are fantastic. We ate all of this and had 3 sangrias (happy hour) for $47!!!! This is definitely Puerto Rican food done right. Dangerous...

This place was delicious. I have never had mofongo made out of yucca, but this place has it and it is a game changer. I prefer the yucca one vs. the traditional one. Everyone is super friendly here & the service has always been on point.

Wow. Food was delicious! Wait was ridiculous! I think the crazy wait was really overcome by the quality & authenticity of the meal. Great lunch with friends & we had a blast catching up! Will go back. Mofongo was new to me.....Will have again. Pernil.....mmmmm! Will work on my Spanish for my next visit but our server was multilingual & her recommendations were spot on! Thanks Bobby & Karen!
