This sandwich spot is a definite gem! I agree with other yelpers that it isn't the easiest place to find but it's definitely worth it. The service was phenomenal - even the other patrons were super nice. Sandwiches are huge so bring your appetite. Worth the money and worth the time. Would definitely go back.

Awesome subs.. best local lunch around. Like many I passed it for years before I stopped and now I'm glad that I did.

I eat here frequently with a crew from work. I have systematically tried everything they serve except the lamb special. No lamb for me. Get there before 11:20 to avoid the wait. Service has always been awesome and Gene is a character. They are now open for dinner to extend the fun. I was in the other day and ordered a whole sub and as usual had difficulty finding the bread under the meat. Great place.

My family stopped in for lunch today, and we thoroughly enjoyed our subs. I ordered the Wednesday special: a generous portion of tender and juicy BBQ pork. My wife chose a pastrami sub and my daughter got the Italian. I tasted all three and they were delicious. The sub rolls were fresh. The meat and toppings were piled on high. I needed a fork to eat part of my BBQ sub. The owners and staff were friendly and made us feel right at home. Larkin's has a neighborhood feel which for me created the perfect ambiance to enjoy a yummy and filling lunch. All three of us left with half a sub for later. The prices with drink run about $10 per sub/drink. We'll definitely be back.

I was super hyped up about this place: in my neighborhood, highly rated, serves giant sandwiches. This place was good, but will probably not become a regular destination for me. I ordered the Mighty Mo. The meats were delicious, but there is so much meat in it the bread falls apart and is hard to consume in one bite. The proportion of meat to toppings/bread is distorted for my taste. Price: $10 for an 8 inch sub or $9 for 6 inches. That is pretty pricy for a sandwich in my opinion. Hours: 10-3 Monday through Friday--no dinner or weekend hours. It took me until I quit my job and had time off during the week to find the opportunity to travel to Larkins for a sandwich. Not bad, but Publix is closer, cheaper, and has actual working person hours.

  • Jordan O.

Wife brought me home one their sandwiches (Mighty Mo)...it was okay. A TON of meat, but not the best quality meat. Bread wasn't as good as a Publix Sub, and there hours are ridiculous, only open for lunch during the week, so unless I skip work, I couldn't go if I wanted to. I would try one of their hot subs, but 100% wouldn't order that same sandwich again.

The sandwiches are really delicious. Come here before you ever think to go to subway. Wide variety of subs.

So glad I found this place! I got a turkey all the way with mild Greek peppers on the side. The turkey was fresh and the mustard they use is delicious!

My local friends have been talking my ear off about Larkin's ever since I moved here. Every time the subject of sandwiches comes up, we all agree that we love Wawa, but they always mentioned the inherent superiority of Larkin's. I finally visited for the first time and was not at all disappointed. Although somewhat pricey (about $11 for a sandwich, chips, pickle, and drink), I consumed half of one of the most delicious Italian subs I have ever enjoyed. The other half, no doubt, will make a delicious dinner. The sandwich itself was stuffed to overflowing with the three kinds of meat. My friends' subs (cheese steak and meatball) were similarly stuffed. The meat and cheese were clearly good quality, and the veggies were fresh and crisp. I have a feeling I'm going to need to start biking to Larkin's to work up an appetite and earn the calories for such good sandwiches. Well worth the trip from other parts of Orlando too!

Seriously the best sub I've ever had. I've been across the country to famous sandwich shops and none have compared to Larkins. If you're looking for a great spot to eat with a welcoming feel this spot is it

First time here. Great Food. Great Atmosphere. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I would recommend getting there before 11:30am because starting at noon the place filled up very quickly and the parking lot was full.

Excellent sandwiches!!! Tons of meat, good mustard/sauces, good cheese and toppings. Talked with the owner who was making the sandwiches and Larkin was very nice. Nice eclectic atmosphere in the small restaurant. Had the turkey and cheese 2x and the roast beef and cheese 1x. Overall I'd give it 4.5 stars as the meat is phenomenal and the bread is pretty good. This place is close to work so I come about once every other week.

Great place for lunch! My boyfriend and i found this place on yelp after wake boarding in Orlando. It is a little out of the way and you will think you are going to no where but it is worth it! The food was really good and had a large selection of sandwiches and salads. Sandwiches are nice and big, service was friendly and quick! Highly recommend!

  • Zach V.

I'm not saying anything that anyone else here hasn't said; these sandwiches are the bomb. I come into Orlando for work about once a month, and Larkin's is always on my hit list. Only recommendation, Whatever sub you choose, get everything on it. Don't short yourself, you deserve the best.

Best food in Florida! Does not get better. Friendly service and great food served in a place with Florida charm. I only wish they delivered to California!

Finally made it after so many people raving about them. I had the Philly, friends had the Italian sub and the sausage sub. All were outstanding. If you can make it during the limited time they are open it you will not be disappointed.

How can this place not impress you... It's quite possibly the best subs you'll ever have. Service is quick and friendly from this family owned and operated landmark.

Fantastic sandwich shop! I love the super packed nautical themed decor. There are so many interesting details to look at. The sandwiches also all sound great, the two times I have been there I ordered a different sandwich each time. They all sound great I'd like to try most of them, and LOVE that they serve Greek peppers with the order! The staff are cool people, I really like eating there.

As mentioned by previous reviews, Larkins is one of those places known pretty much by the locals. It's definitely a gem in the rough. Larkins has a very home-style atmosphere which I like and enjoyed. As for the owner and workers, they are some of the friendliest I've met; they even remember customers on a first name basis. I've always gotten the Larkins sandwich here, but I'm sure all the items on their chalk board menu is also good. Very generous servings of meat complimented by various toppings made it a very well put together sandwich. Definitely for the sandwich lovers out there.

Everything here is done by hand and done with pride. Delicious! And they are both so friendly.

Some co-workers of mine have been talking about this place for a long time. Told me tales of daily specials,Tenderloin Tuesdays, and amazing sandwiches. I finally had the chance to order a sandwich from here and it lived up to the hype. We called our order in so we could pick it up and head back to the shop. We were about 10 mins away and by the time we got there it was ready to go. They even waited till we got there to put together the daily special of BBQ pork because it was a hot sub. I ordered a Mighty Mo with bacon. Anything with bacon is amazing but the Mighty Mo is a complete sandwich without the bacon. Ham, turkey, salami, pepperoni, lettuce, and tomato for $7.50. $10 and you have chips and a soda as well. The sub was a great size that I had to save to munch on later on during the work day. I also enjoyed the fact that instead of handing us multiple bags for the subs they just used one of their tomato boxes that were no longer in use. Why throw it away when you can find another use for it? Staff is incredibly friendly as well. If you don't know where Larkin's is located it may be a little difficult to find because it is off the beaten path.

People who like this place (in my opinion) clearly don't know what a good sandwich consists of. I didn't mind it but I'm from NY. So Florida has a hard time delivering a good deli sandwich. The interior threw me a little when I first walked in. Old/dark/dingy. Not what I like when eating. The sandwiches are a little pricey and I'm sorry but deli meat should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS BE cut THIN. I gave it a second try to try a different sandwich and while it was ok I would not go back.

You really have to go looking for this place. Unless you're a local you're not going to stumble across Larkin's (unless you got lost looking for the airport. REALLY lost.) But Larkin's is less than a block from busy McCoy Road off of Daetwyler. It's small inside but the food is good. When I walked in it was eerily quiet even though there were several people there. I soon realized that they were quite because they were stuffing themselves! There was one friendly guy working. From behind the counter he took my order, the Euge, but I got the smaller version which came with a tiny bag of chips and cost me $8. My to-go order was ready lickety split and I was on my way. The sandwich comes on a super soft hoagie roll and is piled high with shaved, salty, delicious lunch meat. It was absolutely filling, even my mini version of the real thing. I'd recommend anyone who likes subs to mapquest Larkin's and give them a shot. Get there early- they are only open until 3pm.

  • Chris B.

Great mom and pop sub place that does it right with fresh high quality ingredients and lots of meat. Very delicious, I recommend the Governors sub or Euge. They have some beer on tap too. Also the owner is very friendly :)

Been eating here at Larkins since we moved to the neighborhood in 1980. Always treated with respect and food has stayed constantly good. My fav still the Roast Beef and the Tuna.

    (5)
  • Taylor P.

I got a meatball sub (6 in.) with chips and a drink and the total was $10.51. I felt like that was a little pricey for what I got. The meatballs were a little gristly. I would rate them as just "okay." I might try it again, but it wasn't a life changing meal.

    (3)
  • Beka C.

It was ok. I got the meatball, which was fine, better than Subway's meatball, but not the best one I've had. My husband had the steak & wasn't a fan. The owner is super friendly. We'll try it again.

    (3)
  • Rob W.

I would just rate it as OK. The interior was a little dark and dingy, and if I may say so, a bit dirty. They have a variety of sub sandwiches, but only one size, extra large. Mine was pretty good, but not exceptional. I would just put them mid pack in local sub choices.

Hands down the BEST sandwiches around! Very nice family run business with high quality fresh prepared sandwiches. Quick and easy! Highly highly recommend a stop here!

After reading other reviews, finally made my first visit to Larkins today for lunch. I asked the owner for his recommended sandwich and took his recommendation and ordered the Governor. I was not disappointed. It had shaved ham, saved roast beef and bacon. Well made sandwich and tasty! Washed all down with a cold root beer, I will be back.

I rolled in here a good 15 minutes late after they closed, anxious to hear what all the fuss is about. I mean, I drive by this place all the time. Why haven't I tried it? So, I called them up, ordered one over the phone, and told 'em I'd be late by 15 min. As they could make the sandwich, and start cleaning up, they were happy to make it for me. First off, they got the order right. Second? They greeted me as I came in the door after closing, in a friendly way, not shouting out "WE"RE CLOSED!!!. That's always nice... And, the sandwich? Is it that much better? YES. They use a great bread, (honestly, a little like Subway's), and better turkey, MORE turkey, great swiss, and wrap it up in a classy wrapper I enjoyed peeling off. Yeah, if you're in a mood for a sangwich, give them a try. Call ahead if you're in a hurry. And, yeah, grab a bag of chips too.

larkins is the place of my childhood that i still love as an adult. i have literally been a loyal customer since i was 5 (and don't ask my current age, i am a lady). clearly, they're doing it right for me to be going back for decades. and they do it right. when we used to live on the navy base (that should be a clue of how long ago it's been since i started going), we went once or twice a week. as we got older and moved away, it became the treat we got twice a year when we went to the dentist. now that i work in the general area, it's once a month and always worth it. my usual order is the mayor's meal (ham, turkey, roast beef). there's something about the soft bread roll stuffed with tons of meat, cheese, lettuce, the thinly slice onion, and the german mustard that larkin puts on there that tastes of nostalgia and my childhood and sheer deliciousness that just keeps me on as a loyal customer. it also helps that larkin still remembers me and my entire family and treats us as an extension of his own clan when we come in as a group. the only reason why i'm giving it 4 stars is because the hours are cut down now (monday through friday from 10-3) but that's understandable because larkin needs time off, just like everyone else. all i know is if this place ever closes, i will truly be mournful. tl;dr- the sandwiches here are awesome.

If you are looking for an out of the way, hard to find place with good sammies, this is it. Located in a residential disrict in the Belle Isle area, Larkins is in a small non-descript building. Upon entering this place reminds me of a hidden pub I visited in Oakland called Heinholds First and Last Chance Saloon (a MUST visit). Decorated with a slight nautical theme, this place has a ton of items, memorabilia and knick knacks - enough to keep you entertained while you enjoy your lunch. Looking for a player on the last 12 area little league teams, check out the photos. Looking for some sweet ski runs to hit during the winter, check out the maps on the ceiling. A fun place. Menu is simple, sandwiches and salads at sizeable proportions. The Larkin seems to be the favorite, but they have at least 15 other options, along with the salad selections. If they have the Tuesday Tenderloin special, get it. I was there an had a nice Grilled Chicken Caesar with huge pieces of chicken and a very nice dressing. Oh, did I say my Caesar had BACON in it. Oh YEAH!. The staff and owner are friendly. Friendly in the Cheers sort of way, but it is not a put on. If you are out near the airport, craving a sandwich or salad, do yourself a favor and look them up. They are also going to start having dinner service until about 8pm as well.

  • Chance S.

I usually come here about 2 times a week for lunch as it is near my place of work. That alone should tell you something. Some people may complain about the prices of the subs, but I don't mind paying a little extra for the best. I am always trying their daily special sandwiches. The only daily special that I am not crazy about is the fish sandwiches on Fridays, but the rest of the daily specials are definitely worth trying. A little hard to find, only a few tables to dine in, and parking is a bit tricky. But I am a loyal customer, and will continue to be in the future because this is the best place in Orlando for subs.

Off the beaten path; ideal hang out for an airport chauffeur like myself waiting for clients to retrieve their bags

    (3)
  • Prof J.

Larkin's is an old school sandwich shop - ideal for lunch. I had an open face sanwich and they stacked it with a bunch of meat and condiments, so the meat to bread ratio is 10:2. The only thing is it's not open a very long time, which is why i give it only a 3 star rating. but, i have no real bad things to say about this place, there's a reason why this establishment is sticking around. But there are much better sandwich places. so, if you have a sandwich fix and you work or live near sourthport, this is the place to hit up.

  • Kevin X.

Ordered the steak & cheese. Must admit, I've definitely had better. Probably wont return. I heard good things about it but left disappointed.

Love this place. It's a hole in the wall with great nautical style, friendly staff and terrific food. I had a chicken salad and my friend had the Tuesday special, tenderloin sub. Both were very good. We will use them for catering soon.

Been here for training and we have ate here 3 times and loved it each time. The owner greets everyone with a big smile and the special of the day. Food is fantastic, we will be back!

  • Nate B.

There is a serious lack in sandwich shops on this side of O-town. If you're craving a sammy, this is the best place around. They give you heaps of delicious meat, a great serving of chips, a fun atmosphere... and if you show up a few times, they'll start to recognize your face. I love their mission statement: "Love people, and cook them tasty food." Can't beat that.

    (4)
  • Matt W.

If you're anywhere near the airport you need to do yourself a favor and check this place out. They have a cult following of happy sandwich lovers. That's one of the many reasons why they've been here for over 30 years. The subs here will tame the hungriest of peeps with the tastiest of meats. You'll find everything from the standard ham and cheese to daily specials like pork tenderloin or meatloaf (both are killer) All of the meat is sliced fresh daily and served with a smile by Larkin himself. This place gets busy at lunch, so if you're looking for one of the specials go a little early or you'll be missing it.

My husband and I eat a lot of subs and have probably been to every sub shop in Orlando. This is by far my favorite! Subs are huge and owner is super nice. My favorite sub is the Euge, it is packed with turkey and ham. I always order the 'junior' version which is small than the regular, and only eat 1/2 of it.

    (5)
  • Paul G.

Found this place on Yelp when I had to meet people after they arrived at the Orlando airport. It is great. Food was excellent, there were several choices to pick from. My 8-year old wanted a pepperoni only sandwich and the gladly accommodated us. The staff was very friendly.

    (5)
  • Gerry J.

Probably the best subs you'll ever eat. Anywhere. It's a little bit off the beaten path but locals certainly know how to find it. We went a couple of times while I was on my last biz trip to Orlando.

Great food, fast service and family owned! This is what great local restaurants are all about. Subway......no way. This place has a ton of personality and I wish we had more places like this in the area.

Awesome sandwiches! My favorite is the Euge, Larkins version of a club. The sandwiches are all packed with meat are are very filling. If you haven't been here you must give it a try, I promise you will be glad you did.

I was in Orlando on business, and had read the reviews, so I figured I'd give them a try. After driving 20 minutes, and really going out of my way, I was anticipating a good sandwich. Upon my arrival (at 6:35), they were closed - lights out, doors locked. Given the fact that they don't have a website (why would any business want to do that?), the only thing that I had to go on was what was listed on Yelp. I tried to call the following night, and after having the phone ring for a long time, found out that the number was a cell phone, and didn't take messages. Sorry - I won't waste time trying the place. I don't know when they are open, and at this point don't really care. They have no web page, and I don't know if the phone number is good or not - again, I don't care at this point. This business obviously feels that they are doing well enough that they don't have to advertise anything, and allow the free services of sites like Yelp to do it for them. They either are too cheap to put up a website (which can be done for pennies), or just don't care. At any rate, they will not get any of my business - you can't run a business like this - may have worked in the 50's, but not now. Below is the only thing that anyone has to go by - from Yelp - not good enough. 7728 Daetwyler Dr Orlando, FL 32812 (407) 859-9634 Explore the menu Add Photos Hours Mon-Fri 10 am - 8 pm Good for Kids: Yes Accepts Credit Cards:

The Speakeasy of Subs. Maybe that's why this hidden little gem on a south Conway side road has been around for 29 years. It's hard to find, the subs are great, and you have to be pretty old school Orlando or tag along with a Friend to find it. Once you do it'll be that ace you keep up your sleeve and use on a day when you need to take someone to lunch off the beaten path. If your tired of the place that sells 12 inch subs for 5 one dollar bills. Check it out. Go Hungry these aren't I am on a diet today subs. Read the other 4 and 5 star comments. I have eaten there off and on since about '88. This place is the real deal for subs.

    (5)
  • Erik F.

This sub shop is one of the best kept secrets in Orlando. If you are in the Conway or Orlando airport area, you've got to check them out. I'm not sure if anyone knows about this place unless you've been referred to by someone that knows about them. The subs are all the same size, but they have some great specialities like the grouper sub and the beef tenderloin sub. Their meatball sub has pepperoni and american cheese on top of it, and their chicken cordon blue sandwich is great too. The meats are sliced fresh every day. I could see the meat slicer in the back! It's a little pricey for a sub, they run about $8 a pop, with no option for a half or a whole, so you'll spend about $10 with a drink, and the subs come with chips at no extra charge. If you are a really hungry after getting out of the airport, go check this place out, but it's only open until 3pm and closed on Sundays.

Stopped in for lunch with some co-workers. I had the tuna salad which was pretty good. The location's a bit out of the way but convenient if you are coming or going to MCO. Very old school feel to the place. If FOX News wasn't on while we were there, I would give the place five stars. Alas, life isn't perfect.

I was staying at a nearby hotel. Saw Larkin's while running. Figured I'd give it a try. It's pretty good. I had the veggie sub. It was loaded with veggies, well-seasoned, and very flavorful. Overall, it was a very delicious sub. It also came with a free bag of chips and a tasty pickle. The inside is heavily decorated. It's has a nice low-key pub kind of feel. Definitely a cool atmosphere. The workers there were really friendly as well. I should also say that the service was extremely timely. If the subs were a little bit cheaper, it would get 5 stars. But hey, this place is still very good. It gets 4 stars and my seal of approval.

Very good subs with a ton of meat on them. Daily specials that range from Meatloaf Monday to Fishy Friday (oven baked salmon) and everything in between. Great atmosphere, if a little cozy, and the owner is always very friendly.

Came here twice on my trip because it was so good. If you want a unique sub shop experience this is the place!

  • Ryan N.

Small "mom and pop" sub shop. They are some of the nicest people in Orlando and the subs are top notch. If you go on Friday's they'll make you a fish sandwich. If you go for a late lunch they may be out of what you want as everything is fresh daily, which is another plus. Enjoy!

    (4)
  • Tiffany W.

Quite possibly the best sub sandwich I've ever had! I had the "Euge".

    (5)
  • Maria B.

Larkins is THE best! They are family owned, and they do not skimp on ingredients! Their food is as fresh as fresh can be. If you are a fan of salmon, try their baked salmon sub when available. They offer whatever type of seafood is fresh as their Friday special. Yes, they cost more than your run of the mill franchise sub shop, but there is no comparison in freshness or taste!

    (5)
  • Kevin T.

After living here 6 months, I finally had a chance to try Larkins and it was well worth the wait. The sandwiches are huge with quality fresh meats. Their subs come with chips and a giant pickle spear and are a great value for their price. Will definitely return the next time I'm off during the week.

  • Gary G.

I have been coming here for years where they serve the best sandwiches anywhere. I love NYC's deli's but these guys blow them away with their great food and unbelievably fast service. So many combos to pick from, and the delicious sandwiches and salads are prepared fresh when you order. Larkin and his friendly staff are glad to see you and always make you feel welcome.

  • Erin A.

Came from out of state, looking for a good lunch spot. So glad we found this place! The service was wonderful--fast and friendly. The food was great. I had a chef salad with their apple vinaigrette, and couldn't stop thinking about how good the meat tasted. My fiance had a meatball sub and said it was delicious. We'll be sure to stop back before leaving town!

Established in 1981, this sub shop is well known to immediate locals and probably no one else. The interior looks like a boat house, with dark wood beams lining the ceiling and walls, fishing nets, model ships and old faded pictures on the wall. The menu is subs, subs and more subs. Well, not that many. But they do feature some not so common choices e.g. a grouper sub, or a BBQ pork sub. Both of these are only available one day of the week. The subs at Larkin's do not come in "inches", they come by the pound. A weird concept, but essentially the bread is all the same length, but the amount of meat they give you can vary between a lot and not a lot. Most of the common sub options are available--ham, turkey, tuna, roast beef, etc. They also have greek salad and a few other odds n ends. Yesterday I got a turkey, bacon, & roast beef sub. It was good quality meat, and stacked high at $7.95 (the large size sub). I could only eat 1/2 of it. I asked the owner for banana peppers and was given greek peppers. Umm... They do not advertise at all, which might explain why you've never heard of them. They also do 30% of their business via catering to local businesses. The other 30% might be from little league teams? A different kind of sub shop. Check them out if you're in the Conway area, or on your way to OIA. Be forewarned that they close at 3pm and are not open on Sunday.

The folks at FlightSafety, which is near the airport, universally praise this restaurant, at which they eat almost every day. The daily special always seems to be some sort of freshly cooked meat, e.g., tenderloin or roast pork. They have a whole wheat roll option, but it remains pretty soft and squishy.

    (5)
  • Shirley W.

You don't have to look for the meat on these subs; it is piled high. Daily specials are cooked on site and my favorites are the Tenderloin Tuesday (marinated and cooked on smoker out back) and Fishy Friday (roasted Cod). Specials run out fast, though, so either get there early or call ahead. Family owned and operated for 30+ years, it's kind of like "Cheers" right down to the local mailman, as well as lots of other regulars from the local area.
