One of the better tasting Cuban sandwiches I have ever had here in central Florida. The pulled pork tasted fresh and was extremely flavorful. The sandwich is huge and even though I was full after eating half... I just couldn't stop! The staff was so nice and friendly, it seems to be a family run joint and it really just brightened up my mood greatly to see them interacting so in tune with one another, usually when you think of working with your family you're like O.O Noooooooooo!!!! Not here, it really was very nice to see that aspect as well. I want to try their seafood dishes in the future but if it's as good as the Cuban I had... I'm in for a stellar treat. I can see why Walter S. loves this place. La casa de las paellas offers more than just Paellas, try out their Cuban; it iss amazing!

My friend and I happen to be in Orlando from Miami. This has been one of the best Paellas, that I have ever had. I can't even find a place like this one in Miami... Excellent service, and great atmosphere...

Upon my friend's recommendation, we decided to try this restaurant, it being relatively new and potentially promising. With paella in the name, how we could we go wrong? We were very, very disappointed with what the restaurant had to offer. For 36 dollars, I would expect far more than one large bowl of excessively oily and nearly flavorless rice, perhaps half of a chorizo sausage, and a few tough pieces of pork and chicken. The silver lining of our night was the charming dance performance that lasted throughout most of our dinner. If I could have left a tip just for them, I absolutely would have.

I was really excited to try their paella since their name just calls for it! I was sadly disappointed. I was expecting bursts of latin flavor, but it was pretty bland and I ended up just putting my own spices into it to make it interesting (I ordered take out) . The one good thing about it was probably the lobster claw. It was nice and succulent, but not enough for me to come back and get another. Their paella definitely feeds 2 people! Unless you are really hungry and don't like to share. The decor itself pretty much masked the fast food restaurant it use to be and I believe they also offer entertainment on friday and saturday nights.

Watery paella, weird atmosphere. The food quality is not qualified for that price.

With my love for Latin food, I was happy to see a new mom and pop open up in the Union Park area! I drive to work every morning from Downtown to East Orlando.. when one day I noticed a sign on the old Captain D's building that read, "Coming Soon: La Casa De Las Paellas". It's long overdue for me to dig into some authentic Paella. Not from fancy Winter Park establishments like Mi Tomatina, or El Bodegon. But from a no frills homegrown restaurant in the heart of such a diverse Latin section of East Orlando. Food cooked with love. So within a week of their grand opening I convinced 3 of my coworkers to give them a try. Two of us decided to go with their Paella Marinara. We're talkin' savory saffron rice, clams, mussels, shrimp, peas, red peppers, and (my favorite) delicious pieces of marinated cod fish. Two others also ordered a Steak Sandwich and Chicken in Creole sauce from a separate "$5.99Lunch Specials" menu. As I walked into the restaurant and waited for our order, I passed the time by snapping photos within. I could tell they took advantage of the previous Captain D's seafood decor which fit in perfectly with their sea faring menu. A smorgasbord of impressive dishes representing mainly Spanish (Espana), Puerto Rican, and Dominican flavors. Their comprehensive menu could easily be compared against the best seafood offerings in greater Orlando and the city proper. Dishes like Lobster in Creole sauce, Romana Salmon, whole fried Red Snapper in Garlic Sauce, Shrimp a la Diabla, Chicken Ville Roy, London Broil 1lb Steak, 15 variations of stuffed Mofongo. These being the highlights of their list of 9 appetizers, 7 Lobster entrees, 4 Lobster Salads, 7 Fish Fillet entrees, 7 Salmon entrees, 6 Snapper entrees, 7 Salmon entrees, 15 chicken offerings, 7 beef steak entrees, 8 seafood salads and 4 cuts of 1lb steak. Whew, that's a lot. I'm usually the first to speak out against extensive menus that seem exhausting, but this menu is the exception. Everything looks and sounds absolutely delicious. The courteous owner at the counter explains that her restaurant is Dominican owned with a Spanish chef in the back. We're not talking the generic term for Latin ethnicity. We're talking a straight up Spaniard. So it's reassuring to know a Spanish chef is preparing your Spanish Paella in the back. She hands me a heavy tray of Paella that's exuding such a mouth watering scent and tells me it can feed 4 handily. I take the Paella, Steak Sandwich and Creole Chicken back to the office and uncover the tray. What seemed like a small group of 6-7 coworkers gathered 'round, and were mystified by the sight and aromas coming from the glorious Paella. Like a pack of salivating wolves ready to pounce, "What's that!? It smells great! Where did you get that from!?" I was tempted to start throwing elbows to guard my lunch. After all, they didn't chip in for the Paella, so they better back off! I'm certain they secretly regret declining lunch with us after I offered them the chance to order Paella earlier in the day. Suckas! So the 4 of us who actually ordered, dug in. The one who ordered the Steak Sandwich opened it up and said with confusion "it's BIIIG." While the other coworker dove into her Creole Chicken and exclaimed it was "verrry delicious". I can attest to this because the Creole sauce they make at La Casa De Las Paellas is the same kind of Creole sauce that the Pinones En Orlando food truck (1 mile down the road) smothers their mofongo in. Savory, indulgent and mouth watering. One whiff of the stuff and you want to bathe in it. As for the Paella? Simply fantastic. Myself and my 1 other cohort were the only ones who chipped in on the Paella, so we had 4 servings all to ourselves. So incredibly delicious! I was tempted to get greedy and eat the whole damn tray! I tried to eat with composure, but I so wanted to just scoop handfuls into my mouth. The flavors were truly the most unique I've had in a while. The clams and mussels were steamed perfectly. Plump shrimp to boot. The icing on the cake? Pieces of cod fish peppered throughout the bed of saffron rice. As much as I wanted to inhale it all, I disciplined myself to save a serving for a late night snack. You can expect to pay $34.95 for a bountiful amount of flavorful Paella. Which seems like a large chunk of change. But to me, it was worth it. It's also $10.00 cheaper than the Winter Park Paella restaurants. So if you work or live in the area or just so happen to be in East Orlando, take a step into their humble establishment for lunch or for dinner and support a humble mom and pop. They have a $5.99 lunch menu if you're on the go, or stay a while to indulge in their kaleidoscopic seafood menu. You're bound to find something intriguing. If you're pressed for time and ordering Paella, remember to call ahead. It will take 30 mins to prepare!

Food was great. Excellent taste. Had the mofongo with churrasco. However, service was poor. We waited for our food for 45 minutes. The waitress did not tell us that they had a lot of orders in and we didn't ask for an appetizer until 30 minutes into our wait. The waitress barely came to our table and it was very hard to get her attention. At around 6:30pm, they had live music (singer). He was great, but their audio/mic technology was off. Needless to say, the singer and the customers were getting frustrated. The ambiance was relaxing and felt true to latin places. However, it did feel a bit crowded as rush hour started.

I was excited to try this new spot in East Orlando, only minutes from my home. My wife didn't feel like going out to eat so I figured I'd do carry-out, and settled on the seafood Paellas, at $35, and Ham Croquettes for an appetizer. Well, the woman on the phone said, "OK, can you pay first, because it's a lot of food." I said I would give a credit card number. She checked with the boss, and said, "Just give me your phone number" which I did. I got a call back within a minute asking if I was who I said I was, and said it would take about 30-35 minutes. I got there a few minutes early and, right on time, out comes the order, piping hot, in an aluminum pan covered with foil. I'm home in 5 minutes, ready to eat. I open the pan and am immediately underwhelmed with the amount of seafood $35 buys. The tray is dotted with a dozen items or so, including about 6 or 7 large shrimp, and assorted mussels and clams. The shrimp was fine, but the shellfish were dry. In fact, the whole dish was dry. There were no lemon slices, which may have helped. The bodies of 2 razor clams were about an inch long, but the rest of the clam and mussel bodies were about the size of raisins, and tasted overcooked to me. Cooked in the rice were pieces of tough, rubbery squid and something else hard. So all in all, the seafood was sparse and the whole dish was dry. Granted, maybe the ride home added to the cooking time. I will stop by and try a few other things, and hope to be favorably impressed. I have a feeling this place will not last long because of the prices and the demographics, but I hope I am wrong, and I wish them luck. ``

My husband and I went here for dinner on 8/4/12. It was my second visit here, and just as good. This place is not your typical tacos/burritos/quesadillas that people of think of when they hear "Spanish food". It's REAL Spanish food! It seems empty much of the time, but they seem to be doing well according to the super nice waitress we had tonight. They also have music on Friday and Saturday nights. but we were too early for it. Last time I had pork medallions with a divine lemon sauce. This time I had chicken wrapped around ham with spinach and a creamy sauce with yellow rice. My husband had a fish dish with mussels and a side of yuca. I tried his and he tried mine and we both agreed it was awesome! We also ordered a pitcher of the house sangria. It's $30 for the small, but that's 6 full glasses of sangria so it's worth it. I definitely plan to be back!

I always love to try new restaurants, specially if they are family own in my area. I had driven by so many times and the outside looks have never appeal me to try it out, but a friend of mine told me that their Paellas were good, so I recently went for it. Well, is definitely a no frill place their decor is all over the place, plastic table covers like back in the day my great grandma style. Need to update it. Their menu is ridiculous big and they have food sign with more food options on the walls.Tacky!. Service was very nice and promptly. I believe the owner is the Chef and he came out and say hi to the clientele that Saturday eve, he seen extremely nice. The restaurant was not busy. The Paella presentation was beautiful and the portion was supposed to be for 3 and you could feed 5 people. I found it little bit tasteless need it some more flavor, but ok. The bill was high for the kind of atmosphere I was in. All I can say they have potential to improve and make it in this hard business, but they need to figured out if they want to be a Cafeteria that serves paellas or have a Simple, bright , appealing, comfortable, with awesome food that people enjoy to stay and spend their money. If I ever return might be to get a to go sandwich or some of the cafeteria food. I Really wish they can make a better business plan and be super successful.

The service is friendly and prompt. Wait time is short but what you get is definitely not fast food. The dishes look and smell as if they were home made; I love the sea food monfongo. The red snapper (broiled or fried) is also very good. However, today, after many hesitations, I ordered the sea food paella to take out. I was so looking forward to savoring it, but was quite disappointed. The dish was very dry and way too salty. When I broke open the small lobster (or big crab) leg, I could not eat the meat, it had absorbed even more salt than the rest of the food and was shriveled and though. Additionally, there was too much rice in comparison to the other ingredients. The quantity would have fed at least 3 people. I would have rather had less of a better quality. At $34.95, I will not be ordering a paella from there any time soon. The menu is varied enough that you will have no trouble finding your favorites and sticking to them. However because paellas are supposed to be the specialty of the house, I am revising my rating from a 4 to a 3.

Awesome food! Had the Mofongo with fried meat chunks and it was delish! At a previous visit, had the Paella and it was very good, and enough for two people and leftovers. We are regulars now!!!

I've been driving past this place for months now and every time I drive by I always say to myself, "I must try this place before it goes out of business" The name of the place is called the House of Paella so I had high expectations for their paella. The reason I think it's going to go out of business is because every time I drive by, the lot is always empty. Anyways, I went here to try it out for dinner and when I walked into the restaurant I seriously thought they were closed. There was absolutely no one in the place except for my table. With that being said, the service was STILL really slow and the waitress didn't seem all there. The glasses of water at my table were empty for 10 minutes and when she finally came back to our table to check up on us she asked "Is there anything I can get you?" Well obviously our glasses are empty, she should have just brought a pitcher when coming back to the table and fill it without asking. I'm not picky with service but some things should just be common sense if you're in the service industry. Aside from the bad service, the food was actually really good. I tried the mofongo which wasn't too dry nor too moist and served with pork and onions. The paella had a bunch of seafood and even half a lobster which was awesome and it was pretty darn good. Not the best i've ever had but it's up there. It got better towards the bottom of the dish because of the sauce and seasoning, I wish they would serve it upside down somehow so the sauce is on top or maybe I should have just stirred it up to distribute everything.

This place have some of the best Cuban sandwiches and empanadas in town! The food is very flavorful and the portions are filling. I would recommend it to someone wanting to add diversity to their everyday lunch/dinner options. I'll definitely be back!

Amazing service great atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. I suggest the chicken rotisserie with rice & beans, the chicken is cooked to the perfect tenderness. Overall great time.

No sure about all the hate with this place. The paella was quite good. Not watery, as some have indicated. Great flavors in both the meat and seafood paella, but yes, it was a little oily (but not crazily so). Also, the meat paella was a tad try (on the top only though). I'd stick to the paella, as the other few dishes we got weren't anything to talk about. The salad was bag salad from the grocery, and iceburg at that. It's an odd restruant, and they must do karoki as they had a tv blasting the while time above a stage. The setting is no frills, but the food was decent. Give it a try, you might be glad you did.

Had the paella valenciana, not authentic Spanish paella but it was ok. Not sure why other reviews said it was oily. My eldest had mofongo with shrimp and it was good. The place was ok nothing fancy.

Went on a Friday night , so we could see the Flemenco dancers that they advertise on the website. There were none. Ordered calamari - the breaking was awful and had to be peeled of to make the rings edible. Ordered pork chunks- dry. Ordered seafood paella- not a lot of seafood , mostly rice. The rice was greasy . Ordered a margarita . They rimmed the glass with salt and must have gotten a bunch in the glass. The drink was so salty. Ordered a pitcher of their house sangria. It was watery. They charged $30. Price not listed on the menu. Now we know why. The service was wonderful but that was all. My birthday dinner was a big giant flop thanks to the chef and no dancers. Just horrible. We will never go there again.
