Kyoto Sushi and Grill one of my favorite places to get a Hibachi Grill meal. They do NOT have hibachi grills at the tables but they have a chef that cooks everything on the grill right near all the tables so you can watch if you wish to. Honestly, for me, that is not too big a deal anymore since I have eaten at these types of places for awhile. I get the steak and Chicken combo and I upgrade the steak to Filet and the chicken to all white meat. They give a generous portion of the meat and veggies, and also plenty of noodles and rice. It all tastes fresh. The sushi is really good to. I like many of their rolls and they come at a decent price. They have some nice easy kids meals (like chicken) that my daughters love so that makes it easier to go. The one drawback to this place has nothing to do with the place itself. Parking at UCF can be a bear at times and there are not many spots on the street in front of the restaurant to park. If you have to go to a garage, you have a pretty good walk. For most of the time here in FL, that is not a bad thing.

Wish this was here when I was a student at UCF. My friends and I needed a quick meal before the UCF Basketball tournament (which they won GO MARCUS!!!) When I walked in I recognized the layout which is similar to what you can find at Pei Wei. You look at the menu on the wall and then place your order and pay. They then serve your food at a table of your choice. The food was served in a timely and efficient manner. It was presented in a boat and tasted as Sushi should, fresh and with plenty of meat in it. I tried three different rolls which were all mouth pleasing and had the raw baby octopus for an appetizer. mmmmmmmm I will definitely be back ;-)

Waited 30 min for sushi. Restaurant filled with flies.

I only ever go for the hibachi lunch special, which I'm a fan of as long as I douse everything with extra teriyaki sauce. I tried the sushi once and it was ok. I don't think I would ever go out of my for it and I definitely would never pay dinner prices to go here. The lunch special is hard to pass up though if I am on that side of campus. It's alot of food for $6.99! Great place if you want a change of pace from the usual spots in the union.

It's not the best hibachi and sushi i've ever had but when you're walking around a huge campus like UCF.... lunch for this cheap and with this much food for $5.99 is the best! I find myself here very often for lunch dates with my friends or even just myself because I park at the garage near here everyday. Their lunch specials are really reasonable and the foods pretty decent. A drawback would be smelling like straight soysauce and chicken when you leave here which isn't the most attractive thing but oh well, my bellys full and my wallet wasn't robbed. So i'm a happy camper. =]

Okay I will start by saying that I used to be virtually obsessed with this place. Forcing whoever I was with to go here every time we were in Orlando ( from Miami) for a UCF football or basketball game- so a couple times a month throughout the season. It had become a tradition. Last saturday, 10/30, before the UCF/ECU game we drove up from Miami and went straight to Kyoto. Long story short- the cook on the hibachi grill thought it was a wise idea to cook every hibachi meal whose ticket he'd rec'd in about a 15-20 minute time span at one time. Turns out we were one of the first ones received, therefore having to sit and wait for my food for 35 minutes (according to the time on our receipt). I was already angry as this is a FAST causal establishment and that is a LONG time even for the fine dining restaurant I work for. I had ordered steak-medium rare- The steak came to the table nothing less then VERY well done. I pointed this out to our flustered waitress who put in another order for steak. After this I received Teriyaki steak NOT hibachi as I had ordered and now waited 45 minutes for. I brought this up to the grill myself after finding out the manager was the cook on the grill and asked him basically what the deal was. First he actually blamed the wait for the food on our waitress (GREAT move for a Mgr) that it had been ready and she had never run it- which is funny because I'd been watching him make it and finish it the whole time with the other 12 orders. Then he also proceeded to tell me that the steak always has teriyaki- also funny because its never had it on it the other 17 times I've ordered it...hmmm...To say I lost my temper would be an understatement as we were LATE into the game that we drove 4+ hours to get to even though we were at a restaurant ON CAMPUS with over an hour before we needed to be in the stadium- Thank you Kyoto and Management for not only making me late to the game, but for forcing me to find a new place to look forward to going to. I'll pay for Kobes next weekend when we are up for the Southern Miss game

I wanted to give only three stars, since the sushi is drab across the board, and the white rice is anti-sticky -- definitely not chopstick-friendly. However, I happened to show up during "sushi happy hour" (currently Mon-Fri 4:00 - 6:00 PM), so I feel like the value was there. $3.50 for a 6 pc. hand roll of average sushi is a deal to this broke student. They do hibachi as well, but I'm not a fan, so I can't comment on that. To summarize: if you're looking for cheap, average sushi on UCF campus, go here between 4:00 and 6:00 PM on a weekday.

I have been to Kyoto a total of two times for lunch, and both times I have had positive experiences. The first time I went I had the sushi combo with a spicy tuna roll. It was actually quite good and came out pretty fast. The second time I had the hibachi. This time it took a bit longer, but the steak / chicken combo was good and cooked properly. I have to say if you want "fast" Japanese hibachi or sushi, this is a good value for your money. it is definitely quicker than trying to go to Kobe for lunch!

Nothing strikes fear into the hearts of student like On-Campus Sushi. We've all had it, the sushi that comes in those clear plastic cases with a packet of soy sauce and fake grass separating the rolls from the wasabi and pickled ginger. I am glad i went out on a limb to try this place, because this is not that kind of sushi. I got the fried dumpling and a spicy tuna roll, nothing too crazy to test this place out. They were both great. Also the server brought this squeeze bottle with what he called "White sauce," and it was amazing I put in on everything. It reminded me of the Yummy-yummy sauce you get at a Japanese steak house. It's addicting. Thank goodness this is by the CEF Arena and not in the Student Union, because I would be here everyday.

Thai tea was done wrong. Wasn't even the right shade of orange but rather beige and FOAMY. Even though I ordered milk tea. The boba was beyond mushy. Not chewy. The beef teriyaki bento box was disgusting. The beef was salty af. The sushi fell apart and it was cold. Like refrigerated sushi from target but worse. The miso soup was decent. This place is disappointing. I'm never coming back. The price doesn't even make up for how poor the quality is.

This was our first time at the Kyoto location on UCF's campus. The experience was kind of blah. First of all, they've crammed a LOT of seating into this tiny restaurant. There were several 2-top tables with four chairs shoved around them. The furniture was a bit claustrophobic for my taste. I ordered two handrolls and they took FOREVER to come out. My husband got his hibachi plate within minutes, while I waited around 20 for my rolls. The food itself was alright. My husband was less than excited about the giant blob of sobe noodles in the middle of his plate. My rolls weren't very tight and fell apart easily. I think we'll stick with the University location from now on.

I am giving Kyoto two starts ONLY because I do like the place and they compensated me for a terrible, terrible experience. Eat there, it's good food (over priced, but that's not the point) but here is my experience. Went there with my frat Brothers for lunch: only thing I ate all day (key for later). Fast forward to later that night after a long day, food poisoning. Trip to the ER. Puking and best rest for three days. Thanks, for that. Now after I recovered I wrote the manager a real good, politically polite (yeah, I was kinda mean) email letting her know about my experience. She emailed me back and apologized for my crappy experience, BUT said that they do have strict standards for food handling there. My thoughts were: "Did you not just read my email I sent? Do you want a medical report detailing my experience? Do you want testimonials from my roommates who heard me at all hours of the night puking?" Come on.. Anyways, she gave me a $100 gift card to the place: cool, yes. Didn't want it, took it and gave it to some friends who like it more than me. Would I eat there again? Yes, stuff happens. Does it suck it happen? Yes, worst experience ever, wouldn't wish it on anyone. Would I recommend them? Yes, but check your food...it was from raw meat.

The prices really caught my eye. I ordered the chicken tempura and it was the worst meal I ever had. The dumpling that came with it almost made my boyfriend throw up. The chicken was strange and all the vegetables were colorless and strange. It looked like an awful cafeteria meal...bland and colorless. The best part was the white rice...and I did not pay $6 for rice! The 4 small pieces of sushi were okay. Honestly, once you walk in and hear the pop music and cheap chinese lanterns strung about you realize you will not have an authentic experience. I asked for my money back and the lady accused me of not knowing what tempura was ! Not going back again.

What a let down. I thought with the business it was getting that it'd be a nice place to go and grab lunch, but I was dead wrong. The chicken tempura bento was AWFUL, and the dumpling (if that's what they call that thing) that came with it was legitimately the WORST thing I've EVER put in my mouth. The miso soup was decent, but it's pretty hard to mess that up. Even the water from this place was nasty.

Waited half an hour after ordering for my lunch to arrive. Salad had almost no dressing. Hibachi carrots were raw. Vegetables were seasoned only with soy sauce. Fried rice was cardboard dry and completely flavorless except for a faint hint of plastic. Water tasted odd. Scallops were good, but a lunch portion costing $8.47 had a grand total of THREE scallops. It's no wonder they bring a *bottle* of white sauce to the table with your order. It's the only way to make the food edible. To top it all off, the A/C was broken on a 91 degree day. I sat in sweat the whole time I waited for my flavorless, overpriced lunch. I will never eat here again.

I just had lunch here today with my boyfriend and I must say we were both pleasantly surprised. After reading the reviews on here, I thought it was worth a shot. We walked here after classes while we had a 50 minute break and when we called to see how crowded it was, they said food would be out in 10 minutes if you order from the hibachi. When we got there, we looked at the menu on the walls for a few minutes and we went to order. We both ordered the steak and chicken with soup. I got the steamed rice and my boyfriend got the fried rice. When we sat down, I would say no more than 3 minutes later we got our soups. I wasn't a huge fan of mine because I had a ton of cheese in mine, but my boyfriend was surprised at how good it was. About 10 minutes later, we both got our food and it looked very good. Once we tasted it we were glad we came here. The steak and chicken were perfectly cooked and my rice was very fresh. I really enjoyed the vegetables, especially the onions. It was a good portion for me since I was full and still had rice and veggies leftover. My boyfriend wasn't full so he finished mine. From what he said, his fried rice was a little overcooked but still good. Also, he had the white sauce and said it was very good as well. We will definitely be coming back here again for lunch. We'll probably be getting a bento box next time since it seemed like there was more food in them. It's very good to go here if you're on a budget and don't want to spend $50 at Kobe's. I look forward to coming here for lunch again.

Well I tried this one on campus thinking it would be better. It doesn't feel like fast food as the one on university blvd does. The volcano roll was ok.. nothing special. The shrimp tempera was average and the spicy tuna was ok as well.

Kyoto is located on UCF's main campus in east orange county. It is placed to the the left of the arena which looks like a little strip mall. I went there for lunch today, which I believe was only my 3rd time at this establishment. When we first walked through the door the line was long but it went quickly. The kitchen was hard at work to stay ahead of the pace. After sitting, my salad showed up 2 mins later. Then the sushi arrived about 5 mins after that. I was impressed with their efficient service based on the number of people inside. Being that it is on a major university's campus, the atmosphere is lively, young and hip. I had the lunch special which was a salad or soup with two rolls and a drink for just over 10 bucks, great deal! The sushi was fresh, the rice was perfect and everything was as expected. No real complaints from me. The only negative would be the parking, there are no lots close by and the meters are always full. Its nice to work here and have such a good sushi place to visit when im in the mood.

The sushi here was a nice portion but just not very good.I'm half Asian so I'm a little picky about my sushi. Kyoto made me disappointed because I live in tower 3 right next to the restaurant and was excited to have a sushi place so nearby. The prices also weren't very good for a place that had a fast food restaurant feel. My friends who are not very particular about their sushi love Kyoto and their happy hour.

We went there last weekend while attending a UCF Arena event, and we were very disappointed with the sushi. We tried the Fantasy Roll and the Volcano Roll. They both looked pretty good when served, but it ended there. The rolls themselves were very bland and mushy - with a spec of seafood. It looked like the rolls were made-to-order, but they certainly didn't taste that way. Our order with the two rolls and two drinks came to about $20. Definitely not worth it. Maybe their entrees are better, but don't go for the sushi.

I'm disappointed, I went with my friend so she could grab a quick order of brown rice. I had never been to any Kyoto before but had heard how good it was. Well even though it was 10pm on a Saturday night and the place was dead, that one order of brown rice took 30 mins to be delivered to our table. I'm pretty sure they forgot about her order because the girl at the register had to go to the cooks and talk to them and then it was finally delivered. I might give their other locations a try but not this one.

5.99 for an entire hibachi meal? I'm all in on this one. Their lunch include a side of miso soup or ginger salad. Then you choose the type of meat you'd like and a choice of fried or white rice. Their portions are were enormous. Their fried rice was absolute amazing considering there is not extra fee for upgrading. Way better then the Chinese take out quality I was expecting. The meat was mixed in with a wide variety of vegetables which I loved. "White Sauce Lovers," they give you an entire bottle of white sauce to go to town on here. I like my white sauce in moderation. However, my friends philosophy is "more white sauce = better"! I would defiantly recommend this to any college student. It's absolutely delicious and affordable.
