Recently ate here with my family & food was good especially the black rice. I have been hoping a Haitian restaurant & a bakery to open locally & now there's one in east Orlando. I tried the patties & the flavor was good but not as flaky as what I get in NY but it's a start. Hopefully they do well & expand their menu with some Boullet.

Never tried Haitian food. Friggin awesome. Nice cafe. Good price, great presentation, great atmosphere, great service, and even better food. Spicy but flavorful. You should hit it up when ur in the area! DEF WILL BE RETURNING SOON!

This was the worst Haitian food I've ever tasted. The turkey tasted spoiled, the sous pwo was very watery, and the diri was bland. In addition, they didn't give enough sauce to go with the rice. Sorry but I won't be trying this place again. I'd rather take the long drive to the west side.

We order the chicken in sauce and the grio both were flavorful and served with white rice and black bean sauce a couple of fried plantains and a salad to compliment the meal. Good proportions for price the staff is friendly and really take the time out to make sure you are having a pleasant experience.

Kreyol Kafe on the east side of Orlando, off of Colonial Drive, just east of Alafaya Trail is a Haitian restaurant that is run by Nadege Trotter, a Registered Nurse who has been cooking Haitian food since she was a teenager. Though there are a few Haitian establishments on the west side of Orlando, there are not any in other parts of town, including the east. Nadege told us, "I love my culture and I think it has a lot to offer, from food to art. I decided to open the kafe because as a new generation Haitian I wanted to bring a flavor that other cultures can come in and immersed themselves in and be really surprised. Also, there's no Haitian items in this side of town." I stopped by for lunch recently and ordered the fried pork special, which comes with rice and beans, a salad, and an extra spicy pepper sauce concoction that you use to flavor your meal according to your tastes. Be forewarned - do not underestimate the spice power of the pepper sauce. The fried pork was nice and crispy, and the rice and beans was quite flavorful. My favorite dish was the legume, or "legim", a thick vegetable stew consisting of a mashed mixture of eggplant, carrots, chayote, spinach, watercress and flavored with epis, onions, garlic, and spices. The Haitian patty (pate), not to be confused with the Jamaican patties, are made here at Kreyol Kafe with ground beef or chicken surrounded by a softer flaky crust.

I stopped by on a Friday afternoon for lunch and the place was completely empty. The woman behind the counter was very helpful and friendly, and explained the menu to me. The restaurant has only been open since November, and many items were crossed out. I guess they are scaling back already?I ordered the chicken stew, which tasted pretty good, but was served with a very plain salad and a heaping pile of bland black beans and rice. I like supporting small businesses, but the average food and reduced menu have me fearing they may not be sticking around much longer. It's a shame, since the location is good and the service is exceptional.

We were looking for a Haitian restaurant in the area and this received high ratings from Yelp customers...and rightly so!! The ambiance was great, the owner was super nice, the waiter funny and the food was ALMOST better than my mom's Haitian food and that is some of the highest praise that can be given!!! I would come back to this place every time I visit Orlando. The portions were enough for two and the quality of the food was superb. We had the legume(vegetable stew), diri blanc(white rice) and sos pwa nwa(black pea sauce). All in all great place with terrific food!!!

The length of time that it took for my coworkers and myself to get our food was ridiculously long for the fact that the 3 of us were the only patrons in the place. Then on top of that the food was not hot. My food was pretty good although it would have been nice hot (rice with 1 small piece of stew beef stewed with spinach and cabbage), the bowl of beans tasted like a can of beans thrown into a pot, and the other dishes were stewed chicken with rice and beans. Coworker described the rice as chalky. And both ordered the stew chicken which they described as dry. It felt like I had leftovers that you didn't microwave long enough to fully enjoy the flavors.

I love haitian food. And I've been searching for a haitian restaurant to open on the east side of Orlando for so long. It's new and welcoming. I haven't tried much on the menu. But I've had the Legume with white rice and black beans sauce along with plantains. OMG! I'm not sure if it was because I haven't had it in so long, but it was delicious!! It has a little of a spice to it, which I love. Next time I'm coming back for the grio. I also tried the patties, they were okay..I'm from Miami so I've had better.. nevertheless they're still yummy.

Amaaaazing food at a great price. Loved the patties, the turkey lunch special, and the rice and pigeon beans was... Something way beyond beans and rice. Everything was crazy flavorful with great textures and the staff was wonderful, friendly, and attentive.

I went to this place because it wasn't one of the big restaurants around town and I usually like to try these out. I was very impressed with the service that I received and the quality of the food. This is probably one of the best Creole foods available in Orlando! A+

I heard about Kreyol Kafe & Bakery from my friend Jerry so earlier in the week I stopped by to grab a menu with my wife. The place smelled terrific but we had already eaten dinner so we to see Jerry and he recommended the Conch but I already decided on trying the Oxtails, Conch and Goat but not all in one sitting... lol 1/21/2015 - It took a while for someone to come over but when she did, she was very pleasant. They were out of tea which surprised me but since I had a huge piece of cake yesterday with some Peanut butter cake from Toojays, I settled on a bottle of water instead of one of the more tropical choices. I will try them out on my next visits. Yes I said visits. I also decided I wanted to try the Oxtails. She returned with my bottle of water and a setting. I was brought a very basic salad consisting of iceberg lettuce, red onion, a slice of tomato and some grated carrots along with my choice of Italian dressing or Ranch. The Owner was sitting in the restaurant and after my meal I let him know that a salad with some indigenous greens with a fresh made Haitian dressing would have really been a great match with my meal. When my server brought my plate, I started with my plantains. They were made just the way I like them. Smashed and deep fried with no salt. It was like having a piece of plantain bread. I could have easily eaten a couple more of them. They would have gone great with some kind of tropical relish. Yum! Next I tried the rice with the pigeon peas. All by itself it had a great flavor and the peas were cooked just right. But as soon as I mixed it with the sauce from the Oxtails, OMG it was a match made in heaven. The Oxtails were a bit undercooked but OMG was that flavor SPOT ON! Had they been cooked a bit longer and there been a few more on the plate, that would have been one of the best dishes of Oxtails I have tried. Even thought they were a bit underdone, I cleaned that plate! While I was still eating, my friend Jerry happened to show up. He ordered the Conch with the Black Beans and when it came out, he let me try a piece. That was one of the best pieces of Conch I have ever tasted. I know I will be ordering it the next time! I will also have to try the Lil Kreol instead of water or Tea. I will update my review with each additional visit because even in spite of the misses, I suspect I have found me a new place close to home with some unique flavors to enjoy...

Good people making great food! - nice $7 lunch. Specials - very friendly owners who love their work and will enthusiastically describe their dishes for you. - this is my first Haitian food, but compared to other local Caribbean counter service restauraunts this was pretty good. - the ginger tea was fantastic! It had cinnamon and star anise with the ginger, and they will brew it as strong or weak as you want. - they only have room for 24 seats at 6-8 tables, but the place had plenty of room when I went. - definitely worth a try.

My boyfriend brought me here to try Haitian food for the first time and I had an amazing experience! He felt like home since the moment we walked in with the music and the people. I ordered legume and WOW it was soooo good! ( I would totally recommend it) Great service, great food, very cozy environment. Can't wait to go back :)
