it's change its name to something I don't remember now lol.. but it's the same food.. staff the one difference is the name and they've added more things to the menu.. Same good prices.. great for happy hour.. and even after or before happy hour a frozen huge mango margarita for $7.50.. not bad at all...

I like Mexican food so we decided to give this a try even though the reviews were anything but good. The service was average. The chips and dip were average (barely). I had an enchilada, chili relleno, and taco combo that came with rice (beans were extra). The food tasted bland and was over salted (figure that out). The portions were smaller and did not represent a good value for the price, especially when you consider the preparation. I believe all the food comes out of a micrpwave. After considering everything, the most i can rate them is 2 stars. I will not be going back. There are too many pther Mexican restaurants that provide more value for your money.

Great food, but overpriced. And terrible customer service. The restaurant is clean and tidy. But the waitress ruined it for me. Lunch special at $6.99 is a great value, but dinner can get pricey. Everything is a la carte too, they charge for extras. I had a regular margarita, it was good at $3.99, but if you get a fruit flavor the margarita will be $7.50, and they are not that big

I came to this place because my sister recommended it. I sat down and saw an interesting looking place with a light up bar. It was very Cancun. I had the house nachos that come before any meal and the Salsa sauce was very good with a slight kick. I ordered the Fajita Burrito which came with a side of yellow rice. It was excellent. Great strips of steak, peppers, and onions. Really great flavor. The rice was nicely seasoned. Overall pleasantly surprised.

Tried this place 2 times first time just when they just opened and last week. Both times service and food was really bad. Over priced and the first time over salted food 2 nd time just really bad food. We left most of it on the plate. I wish it was better so we didn't have to travel far for Mexican food but this place is a waste of money.

Average is the best way to describe this place. Nothing stood out as great to me. The chips and salsa were standard and the food was just mediocre. I did appreciate the large menu with many veggie dishes. I thought the portions were smaller than many other places, and I was upset that the rice and beans you usually get with a Mexican meal was an additional price. Our server was the only thing above average. He was extremely friendly and efficient. Way better places to get Mexican food in the Orlando area.

Clean, fast, fresh, & staff was very accommodating. Prices super reasonable, 5 of us ate wt appetizers for under $80. The facility is well kept, booths are clean & neat as are restrooms. Good food, large portions & fast. The Decore is nice & modern lots of TVs & bar is cool looking wt neon lights complete wt Cultural music to set the mood.

I had low expectations because i saw that it had 3 stars on Yelp but it was walking distance in Hunters Creek, had vegetarian modifications available and supposedly had 2 for 1 margaritas. When we went in there at 1:30pm, there were only 3 other people there (at the bar area). We sat at the bar area which had a good music and pretty festive (but distracting) bar top that changes colors. Monica was our server and i loved her. At first glance i thought she was serious but it is just RBF but she was a sweetheart. She informed us that it has been a while since they had the 2-for-1 margarita special (that special is long gone) but that there was a $3.99 house margarita so i went with the house margarita. Afterwards i spotted their margarita menu ($6.99+) with more variety and flavors but i had already ordered. The house margarita was poured from a pre-made container which made me think it would suck but it was actually pretty decent and they didn't skimp on the tequila. So far it's the second best margarita i have tried (out of 5 places total) since i moved to Florida. Even my SO went for a margarita and he usually goes for the beer on tap. I saw they have a vegetarian section of the menu but didn't want the combinations they had. Then i spotted combo #5 and Monica said they could modify it free of charge. She recommended the cheese enchilada modification so i had one cheese and one refried. SO had the Combo #5 as well but with chicken. While we waited for the meal to be served, we had some complimentary chips & homemade salsa (not the best i have tasted but not bad at all). When the food came, i noticed the generous refried beans serving but thought that the 2 enchiladas were a bit small. The sized fooled us because we were stuffed when we finished our meal. We were not wild about the rice (didn't taste authentic) but the refried beans and enchiladas were good (although they could have had a bit more salsa verde). When i got home i did however see a discrepancy in our bill because the lunch enchiladas are $6.95 each but got charged $10.50 each (which is the price for combination dinner enchiladas)! So in general, i would probably only return for some $3.99 margaritas and to enjoy their music !!

There's nothing really that great about this place. I've had much better, but I've also had worse. It's just a run of the mill Tex-Mex restaurant. Honestly, the food tasted like a hundred other Mexican restaurants where I've eaten in the states. Complimentary chips and salsa were okay; chips were warm and crunchy, but the salsa was pretty bland. We had four different entrees, and tried three desserts. Entrees were hot and served quick; we were there after lunch, but before dinner, and the place was empty, so I was expecting quick service. Nothing to rave on with our entrees. Commonly, rice and beans are both served as sides with an entree. I was disappointed that 3 entrees came only with rice, and one entree came only with beans. The desserts were a huge, over priced disappointment. I love fried ice cream, and have had it at many places. This place was the worst, EVER. I couldn't even eat it. One bite, and that was it. We also had the chocolate dipped churros, and the funnel fries. Churros were plain and blah, and the chocolate sauce was just chocolate syrup. The only good tasting dessert were the funnel fries, but for $6 I expected more than 12 fries. Sadly, I felt I wasted over $70 on this place. I'm only in the Orlando area for 3 months, and will not be going back here. If I was a local, I'd definitely keep looking for a regular Mexican restaurant to frequent.

This is good, fast, inexpensive Mexican food. They seem to there system down, as this is one of I think 3 or 4 location now. The other location I go to is by UCF, and the food is on par. The server at this location, forgot his name, was excellent. The chips and salsa keep flowing, and the drinks are 2 for 1.. What more do you need. I ordered the chicken burrito, and my wife had the fajitas..both excellent, and huge portions. I will definitely be back when in the area and craving Mexican. #Yelp100

After reading g reviews about the other locations I decided to try the Hunters Creek location. Very dissapointing. Service poor, waitress did not smile and never mentioned her name. The salsa was not fresh, jar quality, very bland and watery. When my meal came I had to call the waitress over. I asked her about my dinner. I ordered the nacho burrito and quessadilla combo. I asked her why I got the enchaladia, it was the same as my dugahters meal. She replies that is a burrito and walked away. The only difference between the two, on had a redish color on top from the cheese and mine white cheese on top. Filling the same. I cannot even rate them one star but have to to post my opinion. So it will be a 1 star, because I have to rate it. Not impressed, food cold when served. Service poor, decor not inviting.

What can I say, horrible experience all around. The wait staff was nice and attentive. I suggest they seek work elsewhere because they are better than that place. To the food. Bland. No flavor to speak of. It was hot and fast but bland. The re fried beans were over cooked and turned to paste. The margarita was too sweet with too much mix and too little tequila. Now on to the best part, the low class scumbag on the cell phone next to us. He talked to his girlfriend for the entire time in a loud loud voice. He ripped on his ex wife, he ripped on his kids, he ripped on his child support then he ripped on the judge. He settled down for a while until his girlfriend started saying something that "made him sooo hard" whatever that means. Overall a disappointing experience.

Arroz con Pollo y Queso - Delicioso!!!! (Rice with Chicken and Cheese) I have found my new meal here. It is always hard for me to decide what to get in these types of restaurants because I don't fully understand the menu and I am not that familiar with its items. But when I got this dish, I was not disappointed.

My girlfriend wanted to try this one out but it wasn't worth it. The decór was like a cheap '70s diner with bright neon lights inside fish-less water tanks. Any Denny's looks better. The food was ho-hum. We both ordered chori-pollo, basically chicken with chorizo, but it was too salty. My nephew (11 years old) ate with us and he didn't seem that happy with it. Everything else in the menu seemed to be typical Mexican fare (taco, enchilada, tamal, burrito and chimichanga and numerous combinations with any amount of them). Entirely forgettable.

"Give me your tired, your poor ..." We were tired and perennially poor when we dropped in for dinner at Habanero at Hunter's Creek. Being hungry and without benefit of Yelp reviews, Habanero was there, we were there, so that is where we ended up. To my surprise, especially after reading the not-so-great Yelp opinions later, we liked the place. Nearly all of the staff was amiable, capable, and from south of the border. Both of our orders were quite good; the nachos and salsa were excellent. The atmosphere was pleasant. And the all-day margarita special was just what we needed. Another plus: the menu included a vegetarian section with a dozen items. Understood, it isn't a must-visit place, but we were satisfied and happy.

I'm inflating my review to offset the two 'one-star' reviews. It's a solid 3-star, but no way it deserved the first two poor reviews. Overall: A half-step above the typical Mexi-casual. The decor is a hypnotic Miami meets Cancun after a couple Patron shots. Mix the art deco color palette with some Mexican decorations and basic casual dining furniture... You get the idea. It also didn't hurt that the most expensive plate we ordered was still under $12. Food: Standard chips & salsa. Nothing to write home about, but still munch-worthy. Negra Modelo on tap (big kudos) and Jarritos sodas for an authentic kids treat. Entrees were served on standard insane-hot plates and food stayed plenty hot the entire meal. Servers were laid back but certainly more than attentive. Highs: Whole chiles in the chile relleno (see the pictures). True chile relleno fans will know what I mean - I HATE when I order a chile relleno and it's all batter & cheese with almost no chile. This was not the case here - you get an entire chile appropriately stuffed with just the right touch of mild heat. My daughter ordered the Taquitos Mexicanes and they were delicious! The carnitas were hot & juicy and the chicken version was also quite tasty. Lows: The tacos. I rarely get tacos in a place like this and given the blah taste, I'll plan on sticking to the chiles and other 'truer' plates. I'll definitely visit again. I would love to see a fresher-style salsa (versus their ketchuppy style), but for a place that serves whole chiles, they'll have my repeat business for sure.

Food had no flavor unless you consider salt a flavor. Margaritas had the over powering tAste of sour mix and no tequila. Would not return.

very bland! I had the steak fajita and it had no taste at all. The taquitos had no taste either. Everything was just very bland. If your looking for a good Mexican place I say Aztec's on OBT, def tasty food! There taquitos and queso is the best! As far as this place don't bother.

So we decided to give this place a go and ignore the reviews. Let me first say that this is not the greatest Mexican restaurant in town, but at the same time I don't think it's that bad. I came in with low expectations so that I wouldn't be so disappointed when I left. (Which included, ignoring the unparalleled decor to theme resemblance. lol) So I'm just rating this place in term of food and service. Believe it or not, the service was excellent. We were seated right away and our waiter was very nice. Heck he was even a legit Mexican. :) They were very attentive and the food came out right away. The drinks were actually pretty good and strong. We ordered some Margaritas and it was the right mix of sweet and sour with a tad more alcohol then I'm used to. Nothing wrong with that. As for the food, the Salsa had good flavor and was definitely not from a jar. The main dishes were a little bland due to the meat hardly having any flavor. However, the sauces used on the dishes made up for the bland meat flavor. The whole dishes definitely need some more flavor to compare to other Mexican restaurants, but for me it was more like homemade Mexican food or diet Mexican food. At least I didn't feel like a bowling ball when I left this place, which is always good. Overall, good humble Mexican food.

I've passed this place numerous times and have had no intention of going in there. Why? The yelp reviews and skepticism. That all changed one day when my friend invited us to meet him, his gf and his daughter for dinner. We arrived during happy hour and were promptly seated. I ordered what seemed to be a pint and a half's worth of Negra Modelo for about $2.35 Any place that has that on tap is instantly on my good side. The food didn't take long to come out and although it wasn't the best mexican food, it was good none the less. I ordered rice, beans, 2 tacos and a chimichanga. The servers were nice (although they took a while to take our orders due to complications with the Negra Modelo keg). Overall the experience was a good one and I will return during happy hour to pick up where I left off with my love: Negra Modelo.

In addition to the depressing appearance of the inside, the restaurant has the bragging rights to declare it has one of the most atrocious Mexican food in town. It's not Mexican-Mexican. Heck, it's not even Tex-Mex. I haven't come to this anti-Habanero feeling too prematurely. I've visited 3 times in total, and I've allowed for ample time to pass before visiting again. There is no excuse for not improving the food. I understood the first time I went, for it was a new restaurant. The second time, I was still willing to have hope. The third time convinced me that they do not care enough about the quality of the food they put out. Also, what kind of Mexican restaurant does not have flautas? I was in shock... The service is not all that geat, but I did have a good waitress once from the three times I've been there. This is no good, if you ask me. However, the taste of the food and general ambiance is what killed it for me.

Honestly I may be young, but I know my Mexican food. Having spent 2 years of my childhood living there I grew up adoring the stuff. So anytime I have a chance to have it, I go for it. Let me say that I don't like being the bad guy, but to save someone else's money being wasted away I'll gladly fill the role. I ordered the 2 different enchiladas meal that comes with your choice of filling and a side of rice with refried beans. The sauce was bland, and the chicken had NO flavor. Also the cheese one tasted like something I could've done at home! The only saving grace was the beans. They tasted pretty fresh. All in all, if you're craving some great Mexican food, I suggest you keep driving.

I have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past year. I honestly feel that this is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. When you first walk in the appearance will take you by surprise looking more like a Denny's combined with a strip club. Once you get past the appearance though, the food and service will win you over. The servers work as a team to make sure that chips and salsa arrive at your table almost immediately. As for the menu there are many different options to choose from. I usually go with the fried chicken chimichanga which has always been great. My wife gets the shrimp chimichanga and she enjoys it as well. The drinks are two for one and the servers are quick to visit the table for refills. I have been to the other Mexican eateries in the area and can honestly say this is the best, much better than Azteca. Overall I would rate it as a 4 only because of the aweful appearance, however the food is worth it. +Food +Fast Service +2 for 1 drinks -Appearance

I have been here twice. The first trip was actually pretty nice. We had a few beers at a nearby establishment, and decided to try Habaneros out as it had just opened. Service was friendly and we were seated at the bar. We had some margaritas that were pretty good. I think they use OJ in their mix, it tastes pretty good but be aware if you're a purist. We decided to just split an app and ordered the chorizo cheese fries. They were tasty and pretty much just good bar food. The second trip, we wanted to try some of the entrees. We decided to get some of the combo plates with tacos, enchiladas, etc. It went totally off the rails at this point. The food was absolutely awful. The ground beef was absolutely flavorless. It tasted as though it had been boiled or something and then just slapped on a substandard tortilla with no seasoning. Sorry, but until I hear that they know how to season their food I will not be back.

Ya know I was a little wary after reading the reviews before we all walked in. But, it was all for naught!! We a had a great time and the food and margaritas were very good. The atmosphere is a little different. It is a renovated Village in,... so take that into consideration. The bar area seemed really cool though!! I had the shrimp quesadilla and I was not dissapointed, it was tasty and had sweet shrimp,.... I couldn't finish it all. I also had the margarita, nice,... if I say so myself. I am glad that we went!!

We have had a hard time finding decent Mexican food here in South Orlando, so we were pleased to see that Habanero had moved in where the old Village Inn used to be. We ordered kids meals for my 3 and 6 year old, and they loved the chicken fingers and quesadilla. My daughter also got an enchilada, but it was not much more than ground beef wrapped in a tortilla, covered with chili sauce... needed some more flavoring and perhaps some sauce inside the meat mixture. I got the chicken soup, which was VERY tasty and just what I had hoped it would be - in addition to a side tamal, which was good, but nothing extraordinary. My wife got the fried chimichangas, one each beef and chicken, and said they both were very flavorful and especially liked the chicken seasoning. She also ordered a sangria, which was decent, and my margarita was also acceptable, without being too fancy. The kids appreciated that they had horchata, one of their favorite drinks. Overall, we were very pleased with the meal, and the service was good as well. We will be back!

Eat here all the time! The food is always fast, inexpensive, and good. Margaritas are always 2 for 1. Chips & salsa never stop coming. The quality is definitely not what you would see at a chain restaurant, but it IS consistently good. The staff are always friendly and accommodating.

There's really nothing wrong with this place. Food is great, drinks are even better. Only thing I hate is the special guest entertainers on Fridays but that's something that just comes with the environment. Love the 2-4-1 margarita specials.

Habanero's has the tastiest Mexican I have had in a long time, the fish tacos, chicken burrito and soft tacos are excellent. Not to mention the fresh chips and salsa always make for a great starter.

Well, since my first review it would appear that new management has taken over. We have tried this place twice now and I can say we were satisfied. Nothing I have had has really impressed me. There is just your standard, average Mexican food here. This last time we came, we had excellent service. I'm glad to see they are doing better and have improved their game.

This restaurant recently opened and it does NOT feel like they are eager for business! The design inside is tacky and the employees walk around so lazy and uninterested in greeting or serving. Everyone has a monotonous tone to their voice, listless and unenergetic, it's like they are all zombies. The manager walked around four times to ask people if the meal was okay. I hadn't even had my meal placed!! Then comes the food! As bland as the employees, the food tasted like air. Yes, air. Like nothing. Then some pseudo manager cane over and asked to refill my drink, then took the 2/3rd full cup away to the back room for two minutes to refill it. Um hello, you never take a cup away to refill it!! You bring a new cup or you bring a pitcher to refill at the table! Gross!!! I will never go again and I do not recommend that people go here!

  • Devon S.

I'm giving this ONE star because it simply deserves nothing more. There's only one thing that sticks out the most, not the food, not the atmosphere nor the service. How abnormally fast my boyfriend and I's food came out. Not more than 3 minutes after we sat down we had ordered, gotten drinks, chips (which tasted like card board) and salsa, and received our food. I am not exaggerating when I say THREE minutes from sitting and getting the menus we got our food. That seems really off to me. Either our food was pre-made and microwaved or they have some really speedy line cook's back there! All I know is the food sucked and was bland and was not made to order what so ever! Ew! Might I also add it was a busy night and we observed 2 people eat and leave all in the 20 minutes we were there. Cheap and tacky decor! Shouldn't be in Hunters Creek.

This restaurant recently opened a little over a week ago - and I doubt it will last long. From the moment we walked in to this up-scale Denny's look-a-like, the employees acted like nothing really mattered. The waiter came over to get our drink orders and when he finally came back with the drinks, a margarita pitcher (that included oranges?) and a beer came out before an iced tea (I asked for "sweet tea" and it was not) We placed our orders and the mediocre server just kept saying "gracias" as if he were replacing "meow" in Super Troopers. When we got our orders, mine was completely wrong. Having a small toddler with our group I was in no mood to have them remake the food so I just ate the meal (which came out with beef, not chicken as ordered) The plates all came out scorching hot, which I thought meant the food would be hot.....not the case. Lukewarm and very bland, the salsa they served with the chips had more flavor than anything in our meals. The manager came over to "see how everything was." If he wouldn't have said he was a manager I would never have known, he was wearing jeans and an orange polo with no logo or anything on it. This restaurant needs to step it up with their food and definitely with their service if they plan on staying in Hunter's Creek... I might give it another shot in a few months....maybe.

If you want to try this place, go quickly. I predict it won't last long. I kind of thought the interior was cool and not like your typical Mexican restaurant. It still sort of look a bit like the old Village Inn that used to occupy this space but they have jazzed it up. They were not busy on the Saturday night I visited and we were greeted promptly and drinks, chips & salsa were served quickly. The chips tasted like they came out of a bag and the salsa was very thin and served in a bottle, almost like picante sauce. The menu is quite extensive but fairly typical. They have a selection of combo meals and if you get a 2 item combo you get rice and beans. If you get the 3 item combo, no rice and beans. All of the combos are the same price ($8.99). I think it would be better to charge a bit less for the 2 item combo (or more for the 3 items) and give rice & beans with every combo. I ordered the 2 item combo with a cheese enchilada and pork tamale. Food was serve piping hot on a very hot plate, no doubt microwaved. The enchilada was decent but very small. Rice was average, beans were very runny. The tamale was the worst I've ever had. There was little if any pork present and the tamale was not cooked properly. It was just a mess of mushy, wet masa with no flavor at all. Couldn't eat it. Others in my party found their food to be less than impressive. Drinks were never refilled and the waiter never came over to check on us after the food was served. After we finished, it took over 20 minutes to get our check and then another 10 minutes for the waiter to come pick it up. There are so many restaurants in the area and if you don't measure up, you won't last. This place won't last

This place is better than I've seen from some of the other reviews. Basically went there due to a LivingSocial deal I bought. Also, I've been dozens of times to the Habaneros in Longwood, so wanted to see what the newest one was like. It was OK. I got the Fajitas Texenas, which was steak, chicken, and shrimp fajitas. Oddly enough, they didn't serve cheese with the fajitas and there were only 3 tortillas with a TON of meat. The beef wasn't anything special, but the shrimp were delicious (after I pulled off the tails, why they were served like that, I don't know). Oddly when I showed the waitress my LivingSocial deal on my phone, she grabbed the phone and disappeared into the back for a few minutes. Uhhhh... that was my phone. Who the heck takes someone's phone from their hand? Overall the food was average with hints of a little better.

This is our favorite go-to Mexican place! The food is yummy, cheap, and it comes out very quickly! Everyone who works here is very polite and you are seated immediately. It does have a weird decor with neon lights, but it doesn't matter! The free chips and salsa come out warm and delicious!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
