I give them a three stars because of our service. I was very pleased with the food it was great. And I really enjoyed their Monday nights ladies night special which they have $5 rolls and 3$ appetizers. My husband loves there drink special on that night which was $2 martinis and $2 sake. Our waitress was not very attentive to us and left us without drinks and checking on us for like 20 minutes. I was a little frustrated when my husband noticed she was also attending a big group at the hibachi grill. So I was nice too her but I would advise whoever is in charge to make sure your servers are not dealing people at the bar and the hibachi grill at the same time.

So I came here for the first time because my friend and I were meeting up with another friend that lives in the area and I honestly would have never tried it if it hadn't been for these plans made by someone else but my goodness I'm so happy that I did. First off, I'll probably only go on Mondays because that's "ladies night" with $3 apps, $5 sushi rolls, and $2 martinis which is a wonderful deal. When you sit down they bring you a basket of warm washcloths to clean your hands which for some reason is very exciting to me because I've never experienced that before. I got the lemon drop martini which if you like lemon is obviously yummy and you can't beat it for only $2. The only issue was that they only have one girl that makes all the drinks and one Monday I went and was told I couldn't have a martini because the bartender that makes them was out sick, they should definitely have someone as a back-up for these situations. I've also had the same waitress each time I've gone and she's not super friendly but rather abrupt and you can easily tell when stress from work is getting to her. From the $3 appetizers we decided on the yakitori, which is basically grilled chicken on skewers, which seems pretty basic, but the sauce that was on that chicken was absolutely mind-blowing, I was honestly shocked at how delicious it was. I just wanted an entire bowl of it to dip everything in, I was in love. The sushi roll I went with was the Summer Roll which contained tuna, cream cheese, and avocado topped with tempura crumbs and flying fish roe (aka fish eggs) and it was honestly some of the best flavors and textures I've ever had in sushi, I could have eaten about 3 of those rolls. I've never had fish eggs on top of my sushi before and those mixed with the tempura crumbs add the perfect crunch to all the smoother elements of the tuna, avocado, and cream cheese. I absolutely loved it and I can't wait to go back because it honestly made me not want to get sushi from anywhere else!

I was skeptical about trying this sushi place just due to the Yelp ratings but I didn't want to prejudge so I took a chance. I saw many photos stating the "Awesome Roll" but couldn't find it on their online menu so I decided to call to get the components. When I called the girl didn't know what was inside of the roll. Had to ask someone else at which she repeated "marinated salmon". Hmmm...marinated salmon? I asked with what. She had no clue. I ordered it anyways. She said it was on the specials menu for $5 so I said ok. What's $5 when your trying a new place. I already had picked out the Caterpillar Roll and Polar Roll from the online menu and proceeded to order those. They were regular price still comparable to what those rolls would cost. Then she said JP (Japanese Roll) was only $5 also and I love fresh salmon so that was my 4th roll. The Awesome roll was....not awesome. Deep fried so much the outside was chewy. I only ate one piece of the roll. The Caterpillar roll and Polar were ok. Nothing to write home about. I would say if you're looking for the basic sushi place. No frills. No creativity for roll ingredients than this so your place. No expect a lot of specialty rolls. Pricing is good that's why I gave them the 2 stars but taste wise. Just plain.

I ALWAYS eat here. The food and atmosphere is great. They have $5 rolls on Monday night for Girls Night and amazing drink specials. Service is good. Even rolls are priced pretty good compared to other locations. I would recommend this place.

This is a tough one to review. Quantity over quality wins! I typically come here with co workers for lunch since it's close to work, wallet friendly and quick. They have a pretty good selection of $5 rolls that are good in size as well as hibachi option for $6.99. My co workers like the Awesome roll which is a hearty/deep fried. I like raw options in the other hand which make Polar and Scarlet roll tope contenders. After 2:30 until 6 they have even more of selection of sushi for $5. The service is always pleasant. If you're looking for cheap satisfaction, I recommend this place. I doubt you'll meet these good of prices. Also for the drinkers out there, $2 beer for lunch. And THAT is how I came up with this rating (im always back ).

This review is a struggle. I don't mean it's a struggle in an existential sense or anything -- that would be weird -- I just have conflicting feelings about Fuji Sushi. I've got existential struggles too, but that's neither here nor there. I suppose it comes down to economics. The location, the food quality, and the service have resulted in a about exactly what you would expect. The decor is predictable, but it's clean and comfortable. It's about the most okayest sushi I've had. The prices aren't enough to cause me to take a deep sigh in regret, but more of a slight brow furrow as I remember that I'm in Waterford Lakes. Actually, I'm being a little harsh on the sushi. It's better than okay. It's good. The portions of the rolls are great as well -- much better than you'll find at somewhere like Sushi Pop, although the quality is a bit behind that. The service is fine given the circumstances. I have a feeling the staff turnover rate is pretty high for a sushi place in a college area. At any given night you'll probably be served by someone who has either just been trained or stopped giving a damn. If you're lucky, you might find someone in that 1 month sweet spot between the two. I almost feel bad giving 3 stars. Really, my review score is the result of an equation of factors that makes Fuji Sushi what Fuji Sushi is. It's just sort of the hand it was dealt, and I'm not sure they can do anything to improve. It has no control over those factors; the universe is indifferent. Man, this did turn into an existential struggle somehow. My next review should be for a bar.

I've been coming here for just the sushi alone for 4 years & its my favorite spot in town! The sushi chef sometimes gives us sample rolls to test because we always sit at the bar (hack) but even besides the little perks of being a regular, the staff is always friendly, knowledgable, and patient. I love it here

Best sushi in town hands down! Huge rolls! Love the baba, dynamite, seabring, and dessert roll!! Great hibachi as well. $5 early bird special is the bomb! Gotta try the awesome roll! It really is AWESOME!

This place shouldn't even be labeled as a sushi bar and Japanese restaurant. What kind of sushi place doesn't know the basics of cutting sashimi?! And all the fish was old and low grade. There were 6 of us and we all found our miso soup to be extremely salty. The ginger salad dressing seemed to have ketchup in it?! The shrimp dumplings were really gross. They were previously frozen, fine but I've had better frozen shrimp dumplings! How are you gonna call something crab Sunomono when there's barely noticeable crab? This place was extremely unsatisfying and it's such a waste of money. If you really like sushi, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere...

Walked in to stand next to the host for 2 minutes looking like idiots while she was gabbing with another coworker hidden behind a divider until finally, a server approached us and asked the distracted server what was going on. Once he helped her gain our attention, she glanced over and waved her hand, saying oh they're waiting for family which we weren't. That was weird. Shorty after finally seating, our sushi came out before our appetizers which was inconvenient, then we didn't see our server again til' we were ready to leave but my partner couldn't finish her meal because she had been waiting on a drink refill. Just a bad experience when usually this place is great. Fortunately, there are plenty of other nearby Japanese steak houses and sushi restaurants to choose from next time we're in the mood for sushi.

8/27/15 I've really given this place a chance since it's close to home to no avail. Our waitress (Brittany) was wonderful, but the rest of the staff was slow and uncaring. The other hostess/waitress sat us down and disappeared, leaving us in an empty hibachi table. No one else showed up for lunch, so our cook strolled in. His greeting was "oh, you again". And proceeded to ask my wife if we were just friends because she's too pretty for me. I have a sense of humor and thinking that was his way of saying hello, we didn't think much of it. He then proceeded to tell me "it's too early to drink a beer."From there he lazily cooked our meal, no joy in his job at all. After he had already overcooked my steak, he asked me how I wanted it cooked. I told him I wanted it rare, he proceeded to put the steak on my plate with a pat of garlic butter still unmelted on one of the steak pieces. The rice was just moved around, portions were burnt from being left on skillet too long. He started pouring the white sauce and I asked him for white sauce only. As he pour the sauce in the cup he also pour a bunch of my plate which I did not want or asked for. We continued with our meal and as I looked outside to see if it was raining he asked me "why are you looking outside at other girls you got one here". I find this extremely inappropriate and will not visit this place again. Bad food, bad service (except our waitress) and cooks who are trying to openly flirt with people, no respect for clients or for themselves. If it was a one time experience I would find it odd but I should have read the reviews as they were right on point. This place should be NoGo Sushi.

A hidden little sushi spot on the lesser known side of Waterford Lakes mega-shopping area. I had somehow managed to forget about my dear friend, sushi, over the last 6+ months, so this was a great spot for the two of us to get reacquainted. And it doesn't hurt that this location has a great happy hour special until 6:00 pm, which includes about 12 - 15 rolls discounted to $5 (about 25 - 30% savings on most) and "Buy 1, Get 1" on beers and sake. Hot towel to start....why certainly. The portions are big here, and I didn't notice them trying to cut any corners because it was happy hour. I had the Jaguar roll (snow crab), Scarlett roll (spicy tuna roll topped with tuna), and 1 other that I can't remember. Everything was very fresh, and the sushi was executed well (no sloppy rolls here!). We sat at the sushi bar and were well taken care of by the sushi chefs. The server was quick and friendly and kept the sake coming. The place was clean and had a soft, simple Japanese style to it although with all of the seating options (2 teppan grills, sushi bar, regular bar in the back, and of course, tables) the layout was kind of all over the place. I definitely recommend this place though if you decide to call it a day on a Friday at 4pm, so you can get your weekend started proper.

Lunch specials are awesome! Service is good, slow at times, but they have gotten so much better since my last review in 2010. I usually just go for sushi or lunch (not teppanyaki). Prices are very good. One of my favorites!

The sushi is good. The prices are not too high either. The only glitch we had was the staff seemed to not care.

The food here is always good and extremely fresh. Portion sizes are large. They are always willing to accommodate special requests to change the sushi to your liking. The ambiance is also nice and the restaurant is very well done. If you like Japanese, stop in and give Fuji Sushi a try.

Love this place. Been going here for over 8 years and it's always good. Only giving four stars because I have only had the sushi not the teppanyaki grill.

For the east side of town Fuji Sushi is a solid choice when you're in the mood for sushi or Japanese food. We have been coming here for a long time and it has been consistently good. The hibachi half of the restaurant is typical. Once you've done the hibachi dinner thing once you've seen it all. And you can order all of the hibachi dinner stuff off their regular menu, so why bother? We usually sit in the regular dining area. Sushi is just fine if you like sushi. I alas, don't love sushi (don't judge me). But there are plenty of good non-sushi things on the menu. On my last visit I tried the seared tuna appetizer and an avocado roll. The tuna was really good. This may be my new go-to meal from this place. My husband had the noodle soup with shrimp. He was in a soup mood and was really pleased with it. Overall we thought our meal was great. Our server was very nice and explained things thoroughly. We will continue to go back again and again. Good stuff.

Great affordable hibachi grill! Love Fuji for their lunch specials! You can get a teppan/ hibachi meal cooked in front of you for under $8. This is an amazing deal, great for the college crowd! Servers are nice, and it's always fun to have a meal with a show! Would highly recommend!

By far my favorite sushi bar ever. I constantly order their fried scallop roll, salad, soup, and even the hibachi scallop, steak and chicken meals. Delicious EVERY time. I wish they can have more than one location. I'm looking all over NYC trying to find a place half as good as Fuji Sushi.

Great sushi for the price. Good lunch and happy hour specials. The only problem I have it sometimes the service isn't up to par. The hibachi chefs are great and make it fun even at lunch. Over all very impressed

I try to come here as often as I can especially for happy hour with five dollar rolls and drink specials. It's not to big and when I go for happy hour not to many people at all. The servers are always nice and will answer any questions about the sushi you might have. A new server was being trained when I was there but ours was very knowledgeable. The sushi was good and as fresh as I've had anywhere else. Rolls were pretty big I got four for me and my girlfriend and we could barely finish them, next time will probably get three. Tried the Volcano roll which was great. The decor is low key not trying to hard but the sushi bar looks neat and I want to eat there next time.

This place isn't bad for the price. I ordered 4 sushi rolls and the total was about $30. And each of their rolls had either 8-10 big pieces which is nice! There is definite value here even though the sushi isn't the greatest, it is still decent and passable at these prices. My favorite was the Waterford Lakes Roll and the Summer Roll. I also tried a roll with kiwi on top...very interesting but not a huge fan. They have a decent lunch special for hibachi and a few sushi rolls as well. Check em out!

This place used to be my fav sushi spot. The happy hour special is great, but lately the service has been slacking. If they had better customer service I would come here more and more. If ur going to have a hostess have one that is proficient. I am here right now the restaurant is empty and I waited 20mins to seat at the sushi bar now that to me is ridiculous. The hostess did not even acknowledge the new customers entering.

    (2)
  • Antonio M.

The quality of food had gone down since i first came to the place. The sushi is very hit or miss here at the place. Sometimes even comes out warm. The service is severely lacking as well. The happy hour is its only reprieve and saving grace!! Their sushi is better then others in substance.

As I venture off on the roads, on my quest to finding delicious sushi on the East side of town... I end up here, mainly because I was super hungry and it was close by.. I ordered take-out, the waitress was nice and polite, I had to get my own take-out menu though... no offer was initiated. I ordered: Futomaki, 2pcs each: sake, tamago, maguro, saba. and tuna tataki. After waiting about 25 minutes, I was called up and was on my way to the car. Opened my boxes (I was ready to devour the whole sea at this point) and noticed a couple of things. 1. pre-bought tamago, it's not homemade. 2. no pickled ginger (?? huh) 3. tuna tataki was the SADDEST tataki i ever ever seen, it was 70% all cooked. 4. she didn't give me ponzu for the tataki. 5. I can go on.. anyways, I tried a futomaki piece.... hard rice, weird fermented flavor. I spat it out because it was so bad. Next, the sake, it was thickly sliced and rubbery. Never returning here EVER, and I advise you to never come here..

Everything I've tasted in Fuji sushi is awesome! My fave is the Miami rolls. The tuna and beef tataki are delicious. The seaweed salad as well! Awesome rolls are delish too!! My favorite place!!

Fuji is my go-to sushi place! I come here at least once a week. The prices are good, the rolls are tasty, the staff is friendly, and it's close to home for me. Ladies night mondays & they're happy hour prices are fantastic! ($5 selected rolls, $2 martinis, etc.) I've eaten in and ordered take-out, and they honor the prices of specials even on takeout. My favorite rolls are the alafaya, summer, and awesome. I have never eaten the hibachi, so i have no opinion on that. If you're looking for overpriced, "fancy" sushi, you prob wont like this place. I will continue to come here, definitely recommended :)

Great prices! Great Atmosphere! and wonderful kind service!!! I love love love the new zealand roll here. It has fresh Kiwi slices on top of it. They dont serve it in all sushi locations. Love this place for a business lunch, hangout, or a date. Perfect location in waterford towers!

Worst tonkatsu of my life. The breaded part of the pork peeled off like a banana peel. The green tea ice cream tasted like it had been in the freezer for over a year and had some chunks of goo in it. The waiter was sweet but had no knowledge of the menu or Japanese food. I give it 2 stars only because i didn't order any sushi which I think is what this place is known for

    (2)
  • Beau A.

Some of the best sushi in town. I highly recommend the Awesome roll and the Sebring Roll. Delicious! The staff is very friendly and the restaurant has a comfortable contemporary feel. If your just dinning for two, the sushi bar is a great place to enjoy your meal.

I come here whenever I'm in town! I love everything I've ever ordered. I love the white fish dinner and yakimeshi (get it with filet minon) and their tea is my favorite. Great place for friends... We always request Yuki the server who is Japanese and very sweet. They change hostesses a lot and some have been terrible but they seemed to have figured that out! Love this place. The hot chicken roll is amazing and they have great spicy mayo. I also liked the New Zealand roll!

Their ladies night is phenomenal. $2 for martinis and $5 appetizers amd sushi rolls is unbeatable. The staff is always welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. I try to go every Monday if I can. Any other day, you can also find an awesome happy hour. Love this place!

  • Meghal P.

I go here for their Miso soup, Popeye roll (ITS VEGETARIAN) and sweet potato tempura. Its not crazy expensive like other places; you have lots of cheaper options. And they have nice booths that give you privacy compared to all teppan grill seating at all the other sushi places. And it is usually open till late

  • Jay M.

My co-workers and I come here often for the lunch and late afternoon roll specials. Dynamite is awesome and so is the Awesome Roll. For $5, you cannot beat the price versus quality. I usually order 2 rolls and have to take a few pieces to go because they are rather filling. Service is OK, kind of slow sometimes depending on how busy the place is. The service staff is nothing special. One thing I will point out is that I like a side of eel sauce with my rolls. When I eat in there's no charge but when I order out, they charge like $.50 to a dollar depending on how much they fill the little cup. Sucks to have to pay extra for it when I'm a regular. But overall, the food is yummy and the price is worth it!

I've only ever had the sushi here, and it was fine...if you go during happy hour the prices are pretty reasonable. Otherwise, unless you're close or passing by and have a sushi craving, I wouldn't necessarily stop in.

Never had a bad experience here. You cannot go wrong with the dessert roll. You get plenty of rolls for its price. The fish is always fresh. I love how the waitress asks for sauces at the end of the order, because that is something I always forget! One of the best sushi places in the area.

How the mighty have fallen. As of just a few months ago, my wife and I were weekly regulars at Fuji. One night, we noticed the head sushi chef looking really harried and upset. We asked how he was doing - to which he responded, "really pissed off and annoyed". We dropped it at that. That was the last time we saw him. Over the past few months, the other chefs and apprentices have tried to step up and fill his shoes. They've done a passing job - but that's it. There's just something missing from the quality that the old head chef brought to the table. The service over the last few visits has really suffered too. During our visit last night, out of 7 servers/hostesses/bus-staff, we recognized 3 - one of which has been a busboy until now - he's now a waiter. This isn't necessarily a bad thing - but the amount of new staff may indicate a large amount of employee turnover. The really worrying part was how bad the service was. In my previous review, I mentioned that service during weekdays could sometimes be a little slow, but this was a whole new level. After being seated by the new hostess, we sat at the sushi bar (not in some dark corner of the restaurant) for a good 5 minutes before finally being approached. During this time, servers kept walking by us - completely ignoring us. The chefs looked at us and waved at us. Still, no one would greet us or take our orders. Finally, the former bus-boy, now waiter came over and asked if we had been helped. He sighed and said, "ok, I'll take care of you then" when we said no. My wife ordered a drink and some sushi. He asked if I wanted a drink as well. I didn't. He began to turn and walk away. I stopped him and said, "But I *would* like to order some food". He looked confused and almost offended. After that, things were well enough to not really complain - but this restaurant has taken a big dive recently.

This place is amazing, we've tried teppan in many different places, and this is the best. I'm usually not a fan of vegetables, but the way they make them on the grill, I actually crave them! We've tried the teppan steak, shrimp, scallops and chicken and all are great. It's a fun place to take family since they make such a production of the cooking. Their miso soup is divine, I just wish it had more of the square tofu noodles in it, and the ginger sauce on their salads is incredible. The best part is the white sauce they serve for dipping the meats and veggies, I don't know what's in it but it's totally addictive. Their prices are really high at dinner time, but we always go at lunch since it's just $8.95 to $11.95 for the full meal with meat, veggies, rice and soup. Hope this place stays around forever, since it's our family's favorite!

After two visits to Fuji, I have to say that there are far better (although surely several worse) places you could go for a good Hibachi meal. There's no denying that the food was tasty, and at the pre-6pm price, it was a decent lunch. However, it really lacked anything to make it stand out. And from a vegetarian's perspective, it really leaves a lot to be desired. There were plenty of meatless choices on the menu, but what should have been a substantial meal left me starving. The asparagus tempura sushi roll was six tiny pieces with literally one strand of asparagus, and my miso soup was broth with exactly one tofu cube. And while the hibachi doesn't offer a vegetarian option, they offered to charge me for a steak hibachi, leave off the steak and charge me $4 more to add tofu. Instead, they offered to give me extra vegetables, but the portion they delivered was 1/2 the amount of food my tablemates got, at the exact same price. The service was a bummer too. Our server was mediocre and acted very taxed whenever we asked for sauce/chopsticks/a refill on our water. Long story short: I'll go back if someone asks to, but I doubt I'll be choosing this one on my own.

Well, this is your typical Japanese restaurant. Food pretty much all the same, veggies not cooked all the way. Wait staff was fine, the cook........ leaves a lot to be desired. He started out ok, my wife made a comment about him just being at the other table cooking. The look he gave was like he was saying, why are you talking to me. He did not make for a fun experience like other cooks in other restaurants. During his "presentation" he brings out this toy, (the one that simulates peeing when you pull the plastics shorts down) he then proceeds to use this on the grill in front of kids. Inappropriate! I will never return to this restaurant.

Went here with my husband. We both enjoy sushi and have dined at a number of sushi establishments in town. This is the worst of the bunch we've tried. The service was iffy at best--obtrusive while we were trying to eat, non-existent when we were trying to get someone to give us a check--and the quality of the food was exceptionally poor. The raw fish didn't taste particularly fresh or flavorful, and the rolls were heavy on the rice and skimpy on the fish. It would be one thing if the menu prices were super-low, then we'd figure you get what you pay for, but in this case, we felt ripped off. We won't be back. There are lots of sushi restaurants in Orlando. I recommend you skip this one.

We used to come to this place often about 4 yrs ago for the hibachi and we used to really like it. We were here so often that we got tired of it and had not been back in about 3 yrs or so. Recently, we had a friend from out of town that was in the mood for this type of food and we remembered how much we used to like this place. So, we get in and immediately this weird, greasy smell slapped us in the face. That should have been our hint. Anyway, it was not too busy so they sat us down in one of the hibachis. First off, it was about 20 minutes before our server came to take our drinks order. We took the opportunity to order our dinner. I went with the shrimp and scallops, my BF ordered salmon and steak (medium) and our friend ordered scallops and steak. The miso soup that they brought out was watery and bland. The salad I never eat so I can't comment on that. Straight to the food, the fried rice is far from what is used to be. I used to really, really like the way they made it. It tasted like oil. Not other flavor whatsoever. My scallops and shrimp were slightly fishy; not unedible but not enjoyable. But when the chef put my BF's salmon on the grill, OMG. The disgusting, fishy smell that came out of that, I swear it took over the whole restaurant. At least that's what it felt like. It smelled rotten. And when he put it on my BF's plate it was not cooked all the way through either and it looked like a mess. Needless to say, he did not even touch it. In addition to that, he gave my BF a well-done steak instead of the medium he ordered. But at this point we were both disgusted and so embarrased to have brought our friend here that he did not even try to tell him about the steak. Our friend said his food was okay but I think he was trying not to make us feel bad. BTW, the awful, greasy smell was lingering there throughout the whole dinner (except when the salmon came out). Not appetizing at all.

I like this place. It's probably one of the better sushi places located on the east side of town. They have a huge menu and lots of unique rolls. For those hibachi lovers, they also offer the whole dog and pony show for the hibachi grill. I go there for the sushi and love that I can order it with brown rice. :) I don't have a standard roll I order from there because I am always trying something and always pleased with the choices. I usually order spicy tuna at every sushi place I go, just to try it out and then another roll unique to the restaurant. The service is pretty good. Not exceptional but pretty good. If you're on the east side and want some Japanese food, hit this place up.

The first time I went - not impressed. I always try it out a few times before I write them off and found that the next 2 trips have been much better. Usually never wait more than 10 minutes to be seated and the sushi is better than most around town.

This is long so sit down and buckle up. See my list titled: "My Japanese Steakhouse resume. :)" to understand where I'm coming from. That being said and setting the stage, here we go: I showed up on a Wednesday around 8:00PM. The hostess was very cute and very accommodating about seating. A large group had just come in. I was by myself and she asked if I minded sitting with the larger group. "Of course not" I said. "That's part of the fun". I was seated quickly. There is ample bar space for both sushi bar and drink bar. There are probably 20 or 30 regular tables in this joint and 4 hibachi tables. It's a nice atmosphere and decor. Easy on the eyes and somewhat Asian and modern. I like it for a small Japanese Steakhouse. The menu is extensive and basically lists out all of the possible combinations. Steak and Shrimp, Steak and Lobster, Filet and Shrimp, NY Strip and Lobster, etc... as well as sushi and other non-hibachi entrees. Once I ordered the hibachi filet mignon, the standard salad and soup came out and the first thing I noticed was that I didn't like the dressing on the salad and the soup was a miso soup. Fine for the soup, I love miso, but it's usually a clear onion and mushroom soup so it's just different. The salad greens were fresh but the dressing was nothing near what I normally enjoy at a one of these places. More like French dressing with ginger added than the usual yummy ginger dressing I'm used to. On to the chef and table show. This chef was skilled. His egg tricks were great. The onion volcano sucked but oh well the rest was nice. The white sauce they provide was like runny mayo consistent with coleslaw. Not good at all. The brown sauce had way too much ginger in it. The sauces in these places can be the deciding factor that sets them apart from the other steakhouses. So far not so good. The veggies looked fresh and they were fresh although they were pre-cut. I prefer the veggies to come out somewhat whole so the chef can slice and dice them before you. Benihana does this well. The fried rice had great potential but was too salty. My steak filet was over cooked. I like it medium rare. I had to tell chef to pull it off the grill before it cooked longer and it was also very salty. The steak did not have much flavor and a it was a tad chewy. That may be because of the cut of beef or due to over cooking. I could tell some of the other guest's food was over cooked too. The waiter was not too attentive. Soup and salad bowl plus empty beer bottle were not removed for a while. Maybe because the chef was cooking? Not sure. Once the chef was finished, those items were removed. So, not a *bad* hibachi place. Many will like it. But compared to other Japanese Steakhouses in the world, its just not quite there. The last bit that made it two stars instead of three, is that the toilet was broken. I mean broken broken. I'm handy so I lifted the lid off the back of the toilet to see what was going on. What I saw was that the plunger was completely broken off it's hinge. By manipulating it you could get one flush out of it before it would break again and you would have to start over. That just sealed it for me. Sorry gang. I won't be back.

When I first tried this place, I wasn't much of a sushi fan, but after eating here I am! I absolutely love the spicy squid roll, and the tempura roll!! They are the perfect blend of ingredients (especially since I love tempura)! It's a great place to eat, especially during happy hour when certain rolls are pretty much $5. I'm glad that the rolls I love are on the happy hour menu! Atmosphere is great, and I think the presentation is overall good as well!

Fuji Sushi is a pretty good place to go to satisfy your sushi cravings! I went in and ordered the Spider Roll and the thing was literally as big as my FACE. It was huge! The only downside was that it was very difficult to eat. It was almost impossible to pop a piece of it in my mouth without it disintegrating into a mess. It kinda took away from the flavors, as I wasn't able to get them all into my mouth at the same time! Despite this, it was a pretty impressive looking roll... The sushi prices were pretty decent. Comparable to most other sushi joints in the area. The atmosphere is pretty cool. I haven't experienced their Teppan dining so I can't really vouch for that... but you can have anything cooked right before you from Scallops to Filet Mignon. YUM. This will run you a little more money than the sushi (averaging about $25 a meal), but you're really paying for the whole Teppan experience! The atmosphere is great. It's a little bit of a trendy but relaxed setting. It's usually pretty packed here, and for good reason!

Fuji Sushi was a really enjoyable experience for my husband and I. We went there on a Friday night but got there just before the rush. If you go around 7ish, you can usually get a table in the sushi area rather quickly. There was a long wait for the Teppan side of the house though. We were seated immediately and our server was very friendly. We didn't wait for anything! Our drinks were brought out right away even though the place was getting more and more busy. Our appetizer and the rest of our food came out rather quickly as well. My husband ordered the 14 piece sashimi combo. It was more like a 28 piece. The pieces of fish were HUGE!! We couldn't believe it. It's a great value. I ordered the summer roll which was very good! I also ordered the Popeye roll which is vegetarian. It was good, but not as good as the summer roll. I'm a bit picky with sushi because I hate when the roll is the size of your head and you cant fit it in your mouth and you look like a newbie trying to eat it....dropping it all over, etc. Thier rolls are tight and compact even though they contain lots of fish and ingredients. They were perfect. I docked one star because the place could use a little sprucing up and it was so loud in there we couldn't really hear each other over everyone else and the teppan area. I can see this being a really fun place to go with a group though!

This would be 4 stars but recently the cooks have been slacking off. The last time I went the Teppan Chef forgot to even sauce the shrimp. Given that I have had great food there every other time, they have one more chance to win me back.

This is a great place. I love going to lunch here, $5.00 select sushi rolls which are just so delicious! Crunchy roll with white fish is very good! Dynamite roll is just pure bliss. And for being $5.00 Lunch, they serve a lot! Presentation is very average, the atmosphere is very urban and hip. Must go between 2:30-5:00 pm to get that special! Don't skip out on this place!

If I don't want to go downtown for sushi, then Fuji is the place for me. There's a great selection of rolls that aren't insane with the mayonnaise and the tempura and the eel sauce that you get with some places that try to overcompensate. There's simple tuna rolls, veggie rolls, rolls with 3 types of fish. There's adventurous rolls with kiwi and kimchi, and the Alligator Roll always taunts you. (Just try it once. It's a interesting texture mix.) Their sushi is always excellent, and very fresh. I've also had their curry there, and while decent, I could probably whip up a better batch of Japanese-style curry at home with a box of curry roux. I've had teppanyaki a couple times here, and once you've had it once anywhere, you've experienced it all. That said, nothing great; if you've never experienced it, this is a fine place to do so. Just your standard stir fried rice and onion volcanoes, with pretty average teppan prices. I almost never sit at the restaurant and eat, and usually do take out. In the times I have been there, it's been nice -- if you're lucky, there are some seats in the back that are comfy, luxurious, and intimate as they are slightly closed off from the rest of the restaurant. Bad news is that they are right next to the kitchen and bathrooms. Lunch deals there are great, too. For about $10, I can get a bento box style meal that contains a little of everything. I would definitely recommend them for lunch. One minor detail: If you notice, their menu used to carry what they used to call "white tuna", but all menus have been corrected to say escolar. Now, if you don't know what escolar is (or rather, more importantly, what it DOES to you), I suggest you google "oily diarrhea" and "escolar". (I'm leaving nothing to the imagination here, am I?) Unfortunately, this is a common practice with many sushi restaurants, where they substitute the more pricey white tuna with the cheap escolar. This is also a common reason why restaurants get fined and get written up by health code officials (if they are not serving what they advertise). Kudos to them for publishing that what have is not white tuna (or perhaps, kudos to owning up), but I caution you about your escolar intake. EDIT (3/18/2010): Just a follow-up on the white tuna/escolar discussion -- the menu has reverted back to stating that the fish they use is "white tuna". I'll take their word for it until I hear otherwise!

I've been here several times and always had a great experience. The prices are reasonable and the portions of fish you get with nigiri sushi are unbelievable! They are the thickest cuts of fish I have ever received at sushi restaurants. I travel all over the country and this is some of the best sushi I've experienced. The rolls are great too. There is a large variety to choose from and they all taste great. I've never had a bad piece of fish or one I thought wasn't extrememly fresh. The service has been great too. Some reviews comment about the wait time. That is true, but hey, long waits and a lot of people waiting are usually a good sign.

If you want the best hibachi you've ever had, you need to go to Fugi. If you want the best service, then not necessarily. We have had some awesome servers here, but others are terrible and are not even aware of it to do any better. For awhile, we were sadly going in a couple times a week because we loved the food so much. Like any restaurant, there are good and bad experiences, and the bad isn't enough to make us write it off. I will say that one time, we went in and waited up front for almost 15 minutes with no one saying hello at the host stand. The service is the only reason why I would give the place 4, instead of 5, stars. As for those of you who love the grill, you should definitely tip your chef if you're enjoying the food. We have the same guy all the time and now he remembers us. We take care of him with some extra $ and he definitely takes care of us when it comes to food. On Valentine's Day, it was obviously a crazy busy night. When he saw us, he went out of his way to go up front and see where we were on the list. We happened to be next, and he made sure we were with him. He helped bus the table from the last people who were there and get us going as soon as possible. As far as I'm concerned, the chefs there do the majority of the work, and they definitely deserve some extra. The sushi is also really good compared to other sushi I've had in Orlando. I will say that when it gets busy, it might take you quite some time to get it, especially if you're sitting at a grill. I think they make sushi on a priority basis. If you're at the sushi bar, you'll get it very fast. The sushi side of the restaurant is right behind that, and the grill is the last.

After repeating my order several times the waiter still got it wrong. The service was bad. The waiter was rude. My sushi, which I ordered when we sat down did not make it to me until my check did. Yep, that's right. The whole Hibachi dinner went down and I sat there without my sushi. We will not be going back. ever.

This is one of the best Sushi/Teppan places around. The rolls are decently sized and priced and the Teppan is great (especially for lunch because it's cheaper). They also have happy hour specials, to include $5.00 rolls and reduced Teppan prices. My favorite roll is the Dynamite Roll. Try the Red Bean ice cream for dessert, it's delicious!

This restaurant is probably the best sushi place near UCF. However, if you want really want awesome sushi there are some better places out there. My biggest gripe is that each time I have gone with a large group (8 or more people) the staff, and particularly, hostesses seem to be annoyed by the fact that we brought a group there. I never understood their thinking on that.

I haven't been back to Fuji for a while now. The past few times I went, the service and food quality had both dropped. I noticed that our regular sushi chefs were no longer around, so I am not sure if management has changed or what. It's still ok, but nothing like what it used to be.

This used to be my standard sushi place while attending UCF. I frequented the restaurant, but suffering service caused me to stop. The rolls are pretty good and standard variety. The price is awesome because you're by a college, so it's great for the price. But one year they got a ton of new servers and I noticed. Granted I can overlook getting new servers every year due to college students, but the bunch that were there last time I visited were very inattentive. My husband and I waited 20 minutes on a Friday night knowing it would be busy (but we thought if its busy, servers would be more attentive and on the ball). We sat for another 15 minutes while waiters passed our table looking at us, but no one came to help us. At 20 minutes with no help we stood up to leave and were immediately stopped by 3 servers asking what was wrong. We told them we had been sitting at a table for 20 minutes with no server. They quickly took care of us and we were in and out in 25 minutes (we were catching a show later) but I don't doubt they hurried us out of there. Good place if you are a college student and want decent sushi, but I would not return if you expect service...

Fuji Sushi, located in the Waterford Lakes area close to UCF, is a great Japanese restaurant that is actually not promoted too often. Maybe the reviews here will help to get more traffic. Fuji has a very relaxed atmosphere and a friendly staff. Anytime I have dined there, the staff loves starting a conversation and learning how they can make your dining experience better. The prices are very reasonable whether it is sushi or hibachi style plates. Why just dine without excitement when you can experience a hibachi style meal. They go out of their way to make the flames high! The food is delicious, especially the fresh sashimi and the shrimp shumai is a great appetizer. Yes, it is soooo much fun, but you keep craving more. And if you can't eat it all in one sitting, take it home for leftovers :)

Fuji is a pretty standard Japanese restaurant. There is a hibachi grill, a sushi bar-esque seating area, a full bar area, and some tables. My most recent visit was for hibachi, but I ordered off the lunch menu. The hibachi experience was good - the chef knew what he was doing and it all looked fine. My friends and I (as well as the other party dining with us) were really into our own conversations. I don't know if the chef would have done all the fun stuff I've previously experienced (flipping rice into mouths and the like) if we all weren't busy chatting, but who knows. I got the veggie lunch special. It came with veggie rolls, miso soup, a veggie eggroll (about the size of my thumb), and steamed rice. The veggie roll was very good, but nothing was overall special about the meal. It's a little hard reviewing places when I, as a vegetarian, can only review the vegetarian options. From my experience, though, I can tell you that I'm still searching for a great Japanese restaurant in the Orlando area. Thankfully, I'm only here for about 6 more weeks, at which time I can return to New York City and get the good stuff.

So because the coworker rarely gets to eat sushi with his wife around we decided to hit up Fuji Sushi. I have to say, when I noticed the Teppan upon walking in, I was like oh crap, this place isn't going to be that great. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. The rolls were relatively cheap too! I guess they make up for it because I felt that their sushi was on the expensive side. We ordered a ridiculous amount of rolls and sushi and they were, for the most part, excellent. However, on our second batch of sushi, the rice had too much vinegar in it. Service was attentive enough and never did I feel that it was lacking. Should I be in the area again, I will definitely be stopping by.

Friday is my new day for sushi lunches. I have been to this location several times and wanted to kick off my new little routine here. Met a friend at this location due to its convenient location, atmosphere and the fact she had never been. I like the layout of this place. The walls are covered in slate, they have open tables to the right, straight are the hibachi grills, towards the back are a few booths for a more intimate setting AND they have a small bar area. The staff seems busy but on their game. I have never had bad service here. They do their best to ensure you're taken care of. The menu can be overwhelming, so if you are trying to pop in for a quick lunch, know the type of roll you want before you sit down. When you open the menu you could change your mind several times like I do. haha I always get spicy tuna rolls as a second roll and I like theirs the most. Some places make them too spicy or you're wondering if they even even added the "spicy". I had the polar bear roll which includes salmon, tempora flakes other basic filler cover in white fish. It was the first time I'd had this roll and I think i'll order it again. A good mixture and tasty! I have never had the hibachi, but come on, how do you mess up hibachi? haha. I don't normally give out 4 stars but I have to due to their consistency of service and quality of food.

This place is alright. I am never extremely disappointed or impressed. The hibachi is a tad better than the sushi. Ironically I like their miso a lot, but miso soup is not enough for me to pick a location. The service is pretty good here though. It can also get very busy at times.

Probably the worst sushi I have ever had, it was unbelievable really. I would have thought it would be hard to get bad sushi in Florida, considering the proximity to the ocean and all, but Fuji proved me very wrong. I ordered the sashimi appetizer and the orlando magic roll. When they were delivered, I was shocked at how poor the presentation was. The sashimi, my comment to my dining partner was "what the hell am I supposed to do with this?". Huge (like 6 inch) slabs of poorly cut fish, like a quarter inch thick slapped on a plate. Tell me how you are supposed to eat that with chopsticks?! The roll was super disappointing as well. The softshell crab was way overcooked, tough dry chewy and flavorless is the only way to describe this roll. The meal was basically inedible for me, I have no idea if this was an off night, or their regular MO, but spending 25 dollars on completely inedible food really makes me angry, especially when there is nothing done to remedy or compensate for the terrible experience. I should have known better and walked right out when I saw no one preparing the sushi was asian. I could have done a better job slicing that sashimi with a butter knife. Officially gets my worst. sushi. ever. vote, and that is including grocery store sushi. Fuji is worse than grocery store sushi, so I recommend staying far away from this place.

Expect to wait twice the quoted time when you arrive to be seated. Their hostess staff were less than mediocre for service and take out. We sat there for almost 30 minutes waiting for a Teppan table for 4 on a Monday night, all while watching potential guests come in and turn right around to leave simply because no one cared to greet them. Experienced their takeout service and was almost as disappointed in their service, too. Was quoted 20 mins on the phone for ready time but gave them 25 before we showed up for pickup, yet we still had to wait an extra 20 mins when we arrived to pickup. Best part was, the hostess decided to keep the change, assuming that was her tip. She just took the money and didn't ask if we needed change and just disappeared. The $4 just wasn't worth waiting around...and she would have gotten a tip IF I didn't have to wait 45 mins for my food TO-GO. The prices sure have gone up too, at least $5 per Teppan entree, which surprises me considering how stingy they have become on the noodles and veggies portions of the Teppan menu items. So why that extra star? The sushi isn't bad, even have some tasty house rolls worth trying out like the dessert roll - toasted coconut covered eel and cream cheese roll. Sounds weird but worth the taste bud adventure.

Love the food here but it's really hit or miss with the service. Sometimes you'll get a great waitress and hibachi chef and other times you won't be as lucky. If you go to hibachi for lunch it's a lot cheaper than the dinner prices and they still give you a large portion.

I'm new to the area so I am trying different places around here. After trying Fuji Yama, I decided to try Fuji. Being in Waterford Lakes, I'd think it'd be legit. I walk in, and I was happy so far because I actually saw customers. I was seated and my friend and I ordered two rolls and two salmon skin hand rolls. The salmon skin hand rolls were small, and contained nothing but the salmon skin, eel sauce, and scallion.Usually there is avocado or cream cheese to give it a little more texture. After the experience with the hand rolls, my friend wanted to order white tuna from them but i stopped him because i knew he would be disappointed. Our two sushi rolls came, and wow what a disappointment. It was like a joke. The roll i received was cut so thin! I don't even call that sushi. I found it somewhat funny so i took a pic. My friend's roll was decent, typical dancing eel roll. After the meal I was still hungry, but I didn't order more food because I didn't wanna be more disappointed. Also, I do not know if they are asian owned or not, but everyone there including the sushi and teppan chef's were Hispanic. Makes no sense. In essence, I would never return here. I know my sushi pretty well, I've been to Japan and tasted the real stuff and the fusion American style. Its price is cheaper, but you get for what you pay for. I don't recommend it either. By the way, their water tasted disgusting n their soda was flat.

Sushi Lovers Beware! This used to be one of my favorite local sushi places to eat at but not anymore. We came in on Saturday for dinner and sat at the sushi bar and were able to watch as the sushi was prepared. To my suprise the men making the sushi were eatting while they were preparing my food. Litterly they were making the sushi rolls and putting food in their mouth. I would say there were 3 of them doing this and as 2 of them realized I was noticing they came over and said may I help you. As if they were saying what are you going to do about it. As unconfortabe as they made me feel I didnt say a word but I wont be back. We were starved and I didnt want them to be doing something to the rest of the food we were making. We should of just watlked out but we had a long day and were starving. I don't care how hungry they are, that us unsanitary for them to be eating as they are making customers food.

As I've mentioned in a previous review I wrote, sushi is one of my favorite things to eat and therefore I am very picky about restaurants that feature sushi and the way they serve their food. Fuji sushi does an excellent job not only with fish, but also with Japanese cuisine....at least the kind they serve. Their rolls are huge and guaranteed to fill you up if you're not careful. My favorites include the rainbow roll (this one is a staple), caterpillar roll, and volcano roll. As far as sashimi goes, it is always very fresh and can be made into a meal if you are not keen on the rice or trying to cut down on the carbs. Their veggie tempura, seaweed salad and edammae are excellent choices for appetizers. If sushi is not your thing, there's no need to fret because they have a whole side of the menu dedicated to teppan cuisine (similar to stir fry) OR you can choose to sit on the teppan side, which is where Japanese chefs cook the food right in front of you. Aside from being served fresh, piping hot, delicious food, you're also being entertained by your chef...and let me tell you they are a hoot! The last time I was there my chef, out of nowhere, said the following poem, "roses are red, April showers, spread your legs and I'll show you my power." I laughed so hard I couldn't finish my dinner and had to take most of it home! Getting back to the food, I would recommend trying the filet mignon, salmon and scallops...but to be honest you really can't go wrong no matter what you choose. In addition to the meat, all teppan meals come with miso soup, salad with a ginger dressing, fried rices, noodles and veggies. You're also provided with a creamy white shrimp sauce and a ginger sauce to garnish all of your food with. And if you're a vegetarian rest assured they do have tofu and other meatless dishes to choose from. Both the chefs and the servers are awesome, always making sure your glass is full and that you have what you need to enjoy your meal. This is a great place to go on a date or to have a good time with your buddies!

I want to love this place, but they need to get a REAL sushi chef who knows how to cut fish properly. First time I ate here I hoped the horrible cuts of fish were a fluke, but it was even worse the second time! I will not be coming back here for sushi or sashimi :/

Love the rolls and sashimi. The food quality is good and so are the portions. I would have to agree with others that the service is a hit or miss, they are never rude or anything but for example I went on a slower night and it took the waitress 20mins to get 2 waters. I still like going there because it is one of the best sushi restaurants around ucf.

Went in today for lunch w/ friends. Food was great but the service was lacking so that's why this place is getting 4 stars instead of 5. Note, if you're going w/ the intention of sitting at a tempannaki table, the place only has 3 of them so there may be a bit of a wait.

Great place for low price sushi. Came in for lunch where they offer 5 dollar special for select rolls and decent lunch special box. Ended up getting 3 rolls, an order or sweet shrimp nigiri and teriyaki beef box for 35 dollars. Not including free desert and 10% off with yelp check in. Service was excellent , she came to check on us frequently and was very friendly. I think her name was yuki fox, but kudos to her. My one critique would be to put less rice in the rolls. I felt like I was eating just rice sometimes. But overall, good place if you're looking for some sushi that won't hurt your budget.

I have eaten sushi at several places all over Orlando and I still cannot find a sushi place I enjoy more than Fuji. The flavors are great and the food is well priced, I would recommend it to anyone!

I'm a big sushi fan. When I lived in Jacksonville, good sushi was hard to come by which is why I was very excited to move to Orlando. Fuji Sushi is probably the closest place to my apartment to get sushi. While it satisfies my cravings, it is no comparison to sushi restaurants downtown or in other areas of town. Nevertheless, I don't always want to drive far to get my sushi fix, and this place is easily my favorite place to go around East Orlando. Coming in, I was immediately seated at a regular table (you can choose between hibachi tables or sushi tables) and was given a hot towel to cleanse my hands. I didn't really see the point, but hey, why was I going to complain about towel service? The menu is relatively extensive. There is everything from your standard sashimi/nigiri to typical maki rolls, up to specialty rolls with a variety of items inside. For the non-sushi lovers, there are also teppanyaki and rice meals you can order from the table, however, I have not tried those before. I start my order with an order of edamame. They were great although I wish there was some sort of pizazz to them instead of plain salt. I always order some form of plain salmon roll, so here I chose the spicy salmon roll. I followed with the Polar Bear roll and the Scarlett Roll. All were excellent. It was a little pricey for the simple spicy salmon roll compared to other places I have been (especially for happy hour), but I felt the other rolls gave the perfect amount of fish and toppings. While I always come back, I just wish there were better happy hour specials for sushi. Here, there are five dollar rolls, however, I have been to many places that offer 3 dollar rolls for similar quality sushi.

Favorite sushi spot around. Monday is ladies night with great specials. if you haven't tried it... you don't know what you're missing. I love the Scarlett roll and fried cheese cake bites. Drinks are always delicious and reasonably priced. Service has never been bad and I literally eat here at least 3 times each month. Love it!

Not like the other Fuji restaurants in town. I don't think the food is as good at this location. The rolls are inconsistent and the service is hit or miss. They do offer a decent price on happy hour rolls. The place is dark inside. They do offer hibachi grill.

Sushi is always delicious! The lunch special is great and you can get any roll on the lunch menu for 5 dollars and they have really good variety. Service is always pretty decent. Definetly on my list for frequent sushi spots!

Went in for lunch after the gym, FIRST TIME. To start it was dead but I still had to wait to be seated. Then we sat down, server was nice. We ordered some soup to start and it was tasty. BUT then our food came out. And just as we were about to dig in we spotted a COCKROACH on our plate. Server was nice about the situation and apologized but we left without eating immediately. IT WAS THE MOST DISGUSTING THING IVE EVER EXPERIENCED AT A RESTAURANT!!!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN!!!

Mondays is the best day to come for ladies night! Great drinks for cheap! Lunch is also good, especially the $2 draft beer!

Still Can't Believe All The Reviews Haven't Done On Yelp Yet But Believe Break In Connection Had Lots to Do With It . This Is My Favorite Location For Sushi Especially On East/Waterford Lakes Side of Orlando. The Sushi Is Always Fresh (Very Important), Service Friendly & I've Actually Become Friends With The Chefs & A Few Servers, Always A Great Experience

I've been here a few times and I'm always happy. Sushi is fresh the chef is friendly and asks me if I need any help when it's not even his job. Waitress's are nice and helpful as well. I think next time I'll try the teppan. Reviews are good and reports from friends are good as well.

Worst sushi bar I've ever been too. We walked in and there was no body there to greet us and we had to sit ourselves. Our food was brought out and we didn't have any utensils. We ordered a second round of sushi when a German roach crawled out from the crack of the sushi bar. We got so grossed out we had to cut our dinner short. Fortunately they covered the bill. But this is the second time both times I was there I've had bad customer service and the floors are disgusting. I'd go to another place for sushi.

I have only eaten here for lunch, but have to say I am very impressed. The first time I came here I had the sushi, and it was very good and fresh. We came here with a group for lunch, the second time, and decided to try there new Hibachi lunch special. $6.99 for Hibachi chicken, vegetables, and your choice of rice or noodles.... Can't beat that. You can add shrimp or steak for an additional $4, not sure it is really worth it. The guy cooking was not Japanese, but he still had the same corny jokes and did a great job cooking. I would recommend coming here with a large group.

This place is absolutely amazing. Their sushi is the best I have EVER had. The customer service is great as well. I've never eaten there. I always did take out. But they are so fast and so delish. If your looking for delicious fresh sushi. It's here!

This was the best sushi I have had in quite a long time, and certainly the best I've had in Orlando. And I was very impressed with the bar- the mixed drinks are really good and very affordable at $5 each. A great place for a girls night out! I have heard good things about this place and I'm glad I have it a try.

Uh oh. Please tell me we're not losing ground here. I'm maintaining the four-star rating for now, for all of the reasons listed in my previous review. But my last visit was a little bit disturbing. We each ordered the chirashi. To the uninitiated, that's basically a selection of sashimi and some pickled daikon laying on top of a bowl of sushi rice. It's one of the dishes that really demands the freshest raw fish possible, because that's the meal -- there is no sauce, no other vegetables, tempura flakes, cream cheese, or masago to change or mask the flavor of the fish. We've had it in the past at this location, but this time around we were severely disappointed. The hamachi was stiffer than it should have been, which was odd and a little off-putting. The salmon had a distinct metallic tinge to it. I was disappointed to say the least. In the hopes that this was a one-time deal, I am keeping my four stars for the time being because our previous experiences have been excellent (see my previous review), but if we come back and have a similar experience a second time, I'll have to rethink everything. Fingers crossed.

Great specialty rolls (try the aqua and kendo rolls!) and table service is good. They carry Moonstone sake (coconut lemongrass is like everything good about the beach if you could drink it!) But if you order for take out get ready to wait, and wait some more while the hostess tries to ignore you. However, they have never gotten an order wrong, so there is that.

Meh. I've only been here once, and I don't know if I'll be returning. Overall, Fuji Sushi was pretty average. When we came in for dinner, the restaurant was empty. Though generally a bad sign, we stayed to try it out. The server was nice, but didn't really know much about the food and couldn't tell us much about anything. We ordered the Beef Tataki and the New Zealand, Crunch, and Dynamite Rolls. Beef Tataki is typically seared on the outside, but ours was just served raw. The rolls were also completely drenched in eel sauce and were completely average-tasting. Atmosphere was pretty typical for a sushi/hibachi restaurant -- nothing super special. All in all, I'd only stop in again if I had a coupon or was going to try the hibachi, but there are definitely better places to eat.

Great sushi. Very good specials during happy hour which runs from 2:30 to 6 on weekdays. Happy Hour includes a nice list of sushi as well as some hibachi specials. They also have 3 specialty drinks that they change every so often. My favorite sushi to order off the happy hour menu is the Dynamite roll which is really good with the eel sauce (which you have to request because most people don't get it). Maybe someday I might even try the hibachi, maybe even today. LOL

I love Fuji Sushi, it's definitely a place I regularly go to for sushi for the past year. It has a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Nothing fancy but nice to have a casual date night. The sushi has always been fresh and it's never been a bad experience. You can get the sushi to-go if you don't want to dine in. There are a lot of rolls to choose from, and their house rolls are creative and yummy. One of my favorites is the New Zealand roll which has kiwi on top. Sound strange but it's delicious!! The seaweed salad is really good too. I had my first seaweed salad here and it has definitely been the best too. Service is good- the staff are all friendly and usually quick. They also have hibachi here but I have never had it before. I look over to my side and see the chefs cook and the presentation, which seems pretty fun and entertaining. I definitely recommend Fuji Sushi. Go! And enjoy!

Delicious! Very, very friendly staff! We had excellent service and excellent food. We ordered sushi rolls. The spicy menu is a good place to start if you like a little zest. The Awesome Roll was our favorite. Can't miss with the Kendo or Fuji rolls either. Will return to try hibachi.

I came here on a Thursday night after work to get some grub before hitting some of the stores across the street and as I was alone; I was immediately seated at the bar. The place wasn't all that busy so I had my pick of where I wanted to sit. They have a nice wide screen TV which kept me entertained as I waited for my food. I didn't really know what to order so I asked the waitress: "What would you pick?" and she recommended the Summer Roll which was pretty good. It's tuna, cream cheese, tempura crunchy bits, masago, and a sweet sauce drizzled on top. I also had the Shrimp Tempura roll and since it was right around 5:30p.m., I still got in on the $5 a roll special. I thought it was an excellent deal. The sushi was good, my waitress was friendly and quick, came around like three times to ask me if I was enjoying everything, and I felt very comfortable and relaxed so my over all dining experience was excellent; I shall return!

We love sushi! I much rather prefer sashimi because I think it tastes better. We rolled in a few weeks ago but it was rather crowded. Today we scored because it was not bad all. There are several ways to go about your dining experience. You can choose to sit at the hibatchi (shy of the dinner show), sit at the sushi bar, or a just sit at the table. We couldn't decide even though it was a 20% discount so we went with the table. We ordered a tray of sashimi, it is a bit more pricey than I would prefer but the slices are larger than what I am used to so it was more filling than I had anticipated. We also had a side of tempura which was not bad. Our last dish was a beef noodle style soup which comes sort of close to shabu shabu with some veggies and noodles mixed in. The food was good and the service was good. I felt the prices were a tad high but not much more than most. They have a huge selection of sushi rolls but not a large selection beyond that. Some soups, pork and chicken katsu, noodle dishes, and of course miso soup are on the menu. It is held out as a sushi/stir fry place though and they definitely have that covered. They also have sake and draft Japanses beers (Kirin and Sapporo). Overall, not a bad spot to go but watch it if you are on a budget. Especially if you have expensive tastes.
