This place was a great find for lunch. The staff was pretty friendly and timely with their food service; I had asked for their recommendation for lunch and they referred me to the Mahi Mani Reuban, which was a great choice. The meal I had was delicious. Overall, I give this place 3.5-4 stars. The best thing about this place is the staff and how fast they were able to get the food out for lunch. I can't say the dinner experience will be the same. Hope you enjoy

Update. We went back. The friendly staff is still here but the place looks so much cleaner, so much nicer; the food is so much better!!! It's like it's a totally different restaurant. It can be very very popular at night, so I'd recommend that you go on the off hours to get really good service-- there's plenty of outdoor seating which we thoroughly enjoyed

Pretty decent local dive joint. Was here a few times staying at a near by hotel. The food was definitely good for bar food pig out. The service is hit or miss, but hey it's a dive joint, so have a drink and have some fun.

Heard a lot about the place as it is close to my house. Had the blackened Mahi Mahi with hush puppy's and veggies. It took an hour and 15 min for the food to arrive because the staff lost the ticket. The fish was good size but over cooked. The hush puppies had a slightly sour taste. The Vegetables were still frozen and had no flavor. Forget this place if you want real food. Might be ok for beer and wings but that's it.

I'm glad I talked myself into trying this place after reading some reviews on here. Our goal was fish. That's it, a nice unbreaded fish sandwich. We seem to not be able to get enough grouper sandwiches when vacationing in Florida. The place is pretty big, staff very very friendly. Waitress was seriously great, wish I could remember her name. Really great with the kids. Women's bathroom was a nice surprise. Really clean and nice. The place has a fun laid back atmosphere and the people we saw here match that. Love theses places. So comfortable when eating with kids. I ordered the mahi for a change from grouper. Omg. I got the sandwich, blackened. Spices were on point. Really great portion of mahi, cooked perfectly. I got greens as a side and they seemed bland to me. I, myself would definitely get a different side. I am a little greens snob though. ;) thanks to previous reviews I warned my husband not to stray from fish (I'm pretty sure he'd have gone bbq) . I can't remember the name of the fish he got but he loved it. He got key west and after tasting mine he wish he'd gotten blackened. We do like things pretty spiced up. He still enjoyed the key west. We thought the Cole slaw was really good. He's pretty picky about that. I'd go back and in fact bookmarked for another mahi sandwich on our way out of town again next week. This place was a definite win for what we were looking for (a delicious fresh fish sandwich). We felt super satisfied with the portion and price. I don't dish out 4 or 5 stars easily. In fact, I don't generally review unless really motivated :) maybe someday.

The food was excellent, we did not have great kitchen service. I don't blame our server, but the kitchen got two of our meals wrong and took a very long time to remake the orders. When we ordered, it was not busy, but it go busy while we were there, so I'm uncertain what caused the errors. We all enjoyed our meals once they were corrected. I did not have high expectations for a tuna steak at a divey, local bar-type place, but I was very pleasantly surprised!

I absolutely love travelling and finding the "local spots" because if the locals keep it open, its gotta be good. I must admit this place REALLY confused me. On the outside, it looked kinda corporate, so I was a little nervous. On the inside, though, it looked like a bunch of other seafood places came here to die. None of the chairs match (even at the same table!) And even the wall decor is mismatched. Some mounted fish, some nautical rope like decorations, it was just strange. However, our hostess was nice, sat us at a table and the service was prompt and friendly as well. We ordered a couple of beers, that were generous and very cold. The bar area itself seemed to be lively--lots of people, and this was World Cup time, and they have quite a few TVs which was nice! We were both starving when we ordered, we got a little lost because this place is out by the airport, so we were glad everything arrived quickly!! (Sorry--was so hungry I forgot to take pics!!) I had the bacon wrapped jalapeño shrimp appetizer as my dinner and my husband had the catfish. The shrimp themselves were good, but the bacon didn't have that buttery saltiness I was hoping for and the jalapeños were weak. Just blander than I had hoped for in general. The hubs said the catfish was fantastic, but the accompanying hush puppies were dry and flavorless (he is spoiled on those though--we have a great BBQ place back home!) The best part was the cheese fries we split. They were loaded down with toppings (cheese and bacon) and came with lots of sour cream for dipping. They had that really nice crunchy outside but still soft and squishy inside texture...yum! You should try this place. Even if you're staying downtown, its worth the drive.

2nd time here with wife this time. My first visit was on Greek Night and I enjoyed the food and drinks at the bar and wanted her to experience the place. Unfortunately this visit was sadly disappointing. Things started OK with appetizer and the Maryland Crab soup was good again. The beer was off or flat and waitress replaced it but still off. Then it went down hill from there. After talking our order, the waitress got seated a very large party out side and we barely saw her again for the night. food came out over cooked ( ordered rare sirloin and it was medium. Waitress didnt even make it back to check on how things were. I went to the bar twice to get drinks and the waitress came in looking upset from the party outside. As I looked around the restaurant there were 2 other wait staff with only a couple tables and not very busy at all but neither stopped to ask if we needed assistance. We finished dinner and waited another 15 minutes before going to the bar again to ask for the check. The waitress then came back very apologetic and explaining the big party to us. While I understood the delay and situation, I mentioned that if she was overloaded it would have been smart to ask for help instead of leaving us stranded with empty plates and without drinks. I think there is a lack of management here and that is sad because the atmosphere and food is not bad but this visit will probably make me forget this place soon as there are so many other choices in the area.

If given the half-point option, I'd give Fish On Fire 2.5, a very direct, middle-of-the-road rating. My husband and I decided to give this place a shot for Sunday brunch the day after 4th of July festivities. We are always on n the hunt for a good brunch spot; for us that means good food and drinks in a relaxed enough to bring a four year old and 20 month old ( a tall order, given that our eldest has special needs, and his behavior can draw some looks). Upon arrival, we grabbed a seat per the sign's instruction. Our server, Ryan promptly greeted us and grabbed our drink order. The drinks were good; my double mimosa was sizable, and my husband really enjoyed his Bloody Mary. For an appetizer, we ordered the smoked fish dip, a particular favorite in our family. This one fell quite flat for us. I'm accustomed to smoked fish dip being well-blended with a healthy amount of smoke. This was more cream-cheese and hot sauce with large chunks of smoked fish interspersed. The scoop of dip was served with some ritz crackers, celery sticks, and an odd garnish of tomato wedges, pepperocini peppers, and olives. The hole thing seemed like an afterthought from the salad line. Ryan was attentive enough to bring out the kids' brunch entree first, a great move on her part. My shrimp and crab Benedict followed, but without the steak and eggs my husband ordered. My Benedict was lukewarm at best, with the hollandaise (obviously from a powdered mix) coagulating, and the yolks of my poached eggs were still cold. Unappetizing to say the least. When the steak and eggs arrived, I sent my food back, with the request that it just be heated a bit further. I didn't want to go through the trouble or the wait of a fresh meal, and with kids every second counts. My husband enjoyed his steak and eggs, but even the reheat of my Benedict couldn't make up for the obvious powdery flavor of a cheap hollandaise knockoff. The marsh fries were delicious though! The place filled up pretty quickly as we were searching for our server for a box and check. To my surprise, no discount was given for my cold meal. Granted, I didn't make a huge stink, but the fact that I was understanding enough not to require a whole new entree should be enough to warrant a discount of some sort. I've worked in hospitality for a long time, and when an unsatisfied customer behaves with understanding and dignity, it is a wise move to incentivize their return. We will probably be back, because the atmosphere is good for our little family, but with lowered expectations, and definitely ordering something less elevated than eggs Benedict.

I love to listen to live music while I eat and I wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxing, the people very friendly, and the food very filling. The place was packed and loud, but it didn't distract me from enjoying the music from the band on stage. There are multiple large screen tv to watch various sports. The food was enjoyable. I had the pull pork and chicken with garlic bread and homemade cole slaw. Nothing too special but the price was right, and the portion served satisfied my hunger. It is a great place to get a bite to eat and have couple of cold brewskis!! Definitely will be coming back.

Amazing food and huge portions at a reasonable price!! They make extremely good mahi mahi and homemade desserts I felt too full for but made room. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody!

The place has the feel like it would be along the water. Wish it was, not enough places are in Orlando despite having so many lakes. We started with a $7 grilled shrimp appetizer. Not good. Had a great description, the shrimp were very small, few in number, no seasoning you could taste, and they were dry. The entrees were much better. We Both got mahi mahi. She ordered the platter and I had the sandwich. She had hers blackened. It was spicy with a lot of favor. I got the Key West seasoning, it was ok. Both pieces of fish were very good. Sides were coleslaw, corn on the cob, hush puppies, and fries. All were good. The fries were the weakest, but still tasted better than they look. Key lime pie for dessert was not great. Not much lime in it and it had no tartness like a key lime pie should. Server was nice. One issue was we were told the margaritas were on special for $5, but they were actually $6. Also, we thought the menu said the key lime pie was $4, but we were charged $5. I wasn't able to confirm the menu price. It's a blue collar watering hole. Prices are good and so were the entrees. I'd definitely recommend it for a beer and a some fish.

I suppose this negative review reflects on my choice of food. However, ANY item on a menu at a restaurant should be good: Why else put it out? I was with a group of about 12 guys and we came here on a recommendation from the hotel. The reviews looked positive as well, so I had no concerns about dining here. The inside is kind of divey and run-down. Upon first entering, I thought we may have stumbled into the wrong restaurant. But, I guess we were at the correct place. We had to sit outside because our group was so large. Although it was mid-May, the weather co-operated somewhat in that it wasn't brutally hot outside, and the ceiling fans helped as well. The menu was all-inclusive, which means one of two things: They are Cheesecake Factory and do everything well with no outstanding dishes or they have several great dishes and a lot of sub-par to mediocre dishes. Guess into which category this particular establishment falls? Most of the people in my group went with seafood, which was highly acclaimed by them and by other previous patrons. I chose to place my 175lb frame on the edge of a wispy sapling limb (walking out on a limb) and ordered the BBQ platter. BIIIIG mistake! This stuff was gross. I rarely don't eat my food and have the appetite of an elephant after a long trek across a dry ass savannah. I could not palate this stuff. It had to be some of that Lloyds frozen bbq that is my local grocers freezer and is ALWAYS on sale because it is probably laced with sawdust as a filler. I took one bite and was unable to finish it. Luckily, I had some hushpuppies as an appetizer before. One of my co-workers ordered the boneless chicken breast and found bones in it. Yuck! My advice is that if you go here, do not stray from the seafood. It seems they actually care about that particular milieu and leave the rest to the rubes and idiots like me. The service was good, especially for our large group, and everyone else seemed to enjoy their food, so I gave this a 3. My experience only would have yielded a 1.5, with the only positive marks going to service.

Yeah, you know, it is a good place. One of these places where you go without a lot of demanding. Food was good, certainly this is not a place where you go if you are looking for a top grade fish meal. Nice service, cool place, ...good!

Food here was nothing exceptional here. I've had a lot better of the things that I ordered at other places. We came here because it was next to the hotel we were staying for the night. The service started off terrible but was accepted as the place was hit by a wave of business as we arrived there. Later as things settled, we got good treatment and the orders came out promptly and correct. They make a stiff drink at the bar for a reasonable price. Ordered the Alligator basket. Could of been a larger portion I thought. Tasted good though. Smoked fish dip was just okay. Unless you are staying at La Quinta hotel- don't bother traveling over here for dinner. I'm sure there's better in Orlando for seafood.

If Guy Fieri was in the neighbourhood, he might stop here. It may look like a bit of a dive, but that's just character. And there is a lot of character--the bar patrons were engaged in a live game of trivia. I was invited in, but I was on a fishin' mission. It was a late dinner, so I started with the half pound shrimp appetizer, a big feed of fresh shrimp with garlic butter, heavy on the garlic and the Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna. I followed that with a special Yelp check-in offer of a free cup of chowder, thick and rich with nice bits of clam. For the main, I ordered that rarest of seafood--chicken wings, in a sweet chile sauce. these were substantial wings, crispy and hot, with a nice coating. Normally, I would have ribs and wings, but seafood and wings? A great pairing, with a lot of manual labor to eat. I don't think I touched my fork! Both the food and service were great. I came in hungry, and waddled out stuffed after vigorously washing the garlic butter and wing grease off my hands. Back to the hotel, and sweet dreams!

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon against my boyfriend's adament warning because of the decent Yelp reviews. It was my birthday and my girl friend and I's first time, so we thought what the hell? Dismal. Utterly dismal. From the rude and snarky bartender, to the disappointing beer selection (unless you've been living under a rock for a few decades), to the overcooked shrimp, to the *slimy* and I repeat, SLIMY vegetables...and the server who didn't even inquire why we didn't eat most of our lunch- probably because she already knew the answer. Dont worry y'all, I still tipped well- but now that I understand his warning, I will not return and I will pass the warning on.

My husband told me this wouldn't be great and I hate to admit he's right, but this time he was. The food was fair, inside was noisy and hot. When we left there was a cool breeze and live music vs the bad juke box style music blaring inside. I ordered chicken and didn't see anywhere on the special that it had bbq sauce. It had bbq sauce that tastes like it was a cheap brand bought at WalMart. I really wanted it to be better. I strive to support local businesses but I doubt I'll be back. Sorry

This place is always packed on the weekend so I was interested to see what its all about. It must be the music, cause it really can't be the food. The food was okay, mostly seafood, along with some burgers, salads, etc... Check in on Yelp and you get a free cup of soup. The first round of drinks were weak so we smartened up and asked the bartender to go light on the ice on the next round, which resulted in much stronger drinks. I have to say, although a restaurant, it is very much a bar atmosphere and I was pleasantly surprised by the ladies room. The toilets were spotless and trash was only located in the trashcan. The band on the night we went was Doc and the Brothers of Blues; they were a big hit and made the trip to Fish on Fire well worth it. I would go back, as long as there's a live band playing.

Although the place was a bit smoky (cigarette) the food was really good. The grouper sandwich, key west style was tasty and fresh. Service was ok and price was decent. I will return to try the tuna sandwich and perhaps a few beers on my next stop

This place has a great outdoor seating area and they are totally cool with bringing your well behaved dog along for the trip. They had some pretty good drink specials and we got some beers. Since I checked in on Yelp I was offered a free soup which was clam chowder. It was pretty decent and not too watery. I also had the fried shrimp which were pretty good and better than your average frozen fried shrimp. The corn on the cob was actually fresh and sweet, if not a tad waterlogged. The grits were okay.....I wasn't wowed but I wasn't disappointed either. At least they didn't taste like they came from a Quaker Oats box.

You can tell this is more of a local hangout than a place for tourists. Ordered the mahi mahi and it was very good, nice sized portions and very friendly service. The place has character and regulars are friendly and easy going. Definitely will go back when in the area.

A fun place with great food and service! Nothing fancy, and kind of a local hang out, but worth a stop. Loved the conch chowder. I also really enjoyed the grilled Mahi, and my husband the catfish basket. Brian was a great server, attentive but not pushy.

I'm staying in the hotel next to this place, so decided to stop in and get something to take away. The kitchen was already closed but they were happy to serve me. I had pulled pork with cole slaw, fries and some garlic bread, along with an iced tea and a refill before I left and it was only about $13 total. Great value and the guy who waited on me was really very friendly and helpful. I stood around while I waited for my food and noticed some people over in the corner playing poker. I think it was poker. There is also a bar where there were some guys enjoying their beers and the NCAA Final on tv. The bar is inside but also outside, meaning that you can sit outside of the building, which I thought was pretty cool.

Amazing place! Took my family and my small child. My kid loved it - They had a live band that was really good....and the ALLIGATOR was off the chain! First time eating it :) great staff! Friendly waitress. Also, the Bayou Chicken was delicious

We are locals. We have seen the sign for the Sunday brunch from 11-4 and decided to go. We arrived at 11:50 and sat on the porch. The bartender CLEARLY saw us so we felt a waitress would show up. We'd viewed the brunch menu online before we left the house so we pretty much knew what we wanted but seeing a menu would have been nice. Actually..... seeing a waitress would have been nice. It wasn't busy at all. At the ten minute mark we tried to get the bartenders attention but she was not in the least interested. So after 15 minutes of being totally ignored we left. Hate to write a bad review but this wasn't bad service...lt was NO service.

Fish on Fire is not too far from where we live. My husband and I consider ourselves regular customers. We stop in together a few times a month for dinner and or drinks. On the weekends there is live music. Sometimes it's a rock cover band inside and other times there is steel drums playing outside on the patio. My husband loves and always orders the Cajun shrimp to start. It is served with a small loaf of sliced bread which i dip in the Cajun sauce the shrimp is sauteed in. I usually have a few of his shrimp and order one of their specialty burgers. The BBB is my favorite. (Bacon Blu Cheese Burger). Joe is our favorite server! He always remembers what we like to drink before we have a chance to order. He's an excellent server. Kudos Joe. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The bar also open to the outdoor area. It's a place for families to enjoy a good meal as well as a great place to stop in to after work to grab a cold beer and or something to eat,

Outstanding lunch, with great service. We had the tacos and the Mahi sandwich. Both delicious. Out server was attentive and the food came quickly. We topped off our meal with a piece of homemade key lime pie...tasty! All in all, we were extremely satisfied with everything.

Live music was a good start when we walked in. Awesome bacon tator tots, good chowder and free of you check in! Joseph our server was great. He suggested the blackened mahi mahi taco which was very good compared to the whitefish one I ordered which was just okay. Divey? Maybe a little but not a dump by any means. Bar was packed with locals watching football Friendly vibe. Overall I'd say this is a cool bar with good bar food.

I loved everything about this place....the décor, the bucket lights, the odd chairs, the fish tables, the dollar fed juke box hanging on the wall, the double bar that opens to an outside bar, the large stalls in the women's restroom (Finally somebody get's it right!), the music playing in the background....I could go on and on and on. One thing that I have to point out is the excellent service that we received and the very patient waitress. My sister has food allergies and will ask a million questions about the ingredients and how EVERYTHING is cooked! It wrecks my nerves but the waitress pleasantly waited on her and my sister did not have one complaint about her order (Thank you God)!!! The food was delicious and my picky eater son cleaned his plate (that's very unusual!) We definitely will go back when we're in the area. The one thing I regret is not being able to stay to hear the band. They were warming up as we we're leaving but we had to rush back to the hotel to watch our beloved Kentucky Wildcats play! #Gobigblue #BBN

I've heard the long history about this place, if those walls could talk, you'd probably hear a long and interesting history about it (burnt down? rebuilt, live music, it's seen the growth of Orlando as a whole.) The atmosphere is great, very beachy. Instantly feels like you're on the coast. The hostess stand is too cool (old t-top fishing boat helm) and the bar is open air to the outdoor wraparound patio. The execution of the dining room was a bit small, but the wall art was quirky and interesting. There's a live band stage, and this place is probably hoppin' when a good band plays. Their beer selection was weak af I was very disappointed in their draft selection for such a big bar. I'll admit, I live in a city that if its not craft beer, it's not worth putting to your lips. Once my food finally arrived, my cole slaw was warm and nasty. I spit it back in the serving cup. Gross. My grouper sandwich was actually delicious though, and the FL cracker style breaking was good. I'd like some more spice in the breading though. They do offer a free soup of the day for checking in on Yelp, so be sure to do that. It's a pretty cool place. I'd like to give it another shot.

This place is a little diamond in the rough, situated at an intersection with no view to brag about, yet magically you feel like you're on vacation. Somewhere in between Cheers and Margaritaville is this beachy feel restaurant and bar where everybody knows your name. The service is always friendly and the food is amazing! You can get anything from wings to prime rib, but the fresh fish brought in daily from the coast is my favorite. I really love the blackened mahi sandwich (I order it without the bun) and a side of collard greens. The mahi is a generous portion, cooked perfectly every time, and just so good you could dream about it. The price of this meal including the side is only $10!!! It's especially lovely paired with an ice cold beer. There are many other good things in the menu, but that's my go-to. My teenage son loves the loaded cheese fries. My husband loves the hush puppies. I am very picky about collard greens, but these are the best I've ever had at a restaurant, so I always order them. I also love their shrimp tacos. Amazing!!!! Save room for dessert!!!!

Such an unassuming place. Basically in the parking lot if a la Quinta Inn. Very "divey" from all outward appearances but, a glance at the menu, then a taste of their fare will tell you they spend some time doing the food right. Service is great too. I had a. Wry pleasant gal named Jackie taking care of me. GREAT JOB Jackie!! Live music and a nice outdoor seating area would make this a fun place to hang out of I lived in the area.

I went here 3 times in one day while in town for 24 hours; lunch, and pre/post Rolling Stones concert (I was staying next door at the hotel). They do a good job and I enjoyed talking to the staff. I ordered the grouper sandwich for lunch and would order one of the fish sandwiches again.

I gave a review last yea, and I really like this place; We went there the other day and I have one complaint; not about the food, it is great; I notice that during our meal, they have the servers when not serving, sitting in the eating area, folding napkins around utensils. I personally believe that the servers should not be out doing other duties in front of the customers; it just seems very aquart; again, the food and service is very good, the prices are great, but employees should be not seen doing random tasks while out in front of the customers.

We were in Orlando area for 10 days. John at Holiday Inn Express recommended Fish on Fire our first evening. Casual seafood was the fare and all that our party had was very good. No complaints from any one.All orders arrived at the table piping hot. Would definitely recommend the cornmeal breaded catfish. On Valentine's Day we were in the area again and returned to fish on Fire. This second visit was better than the first. The food again was excellent but there was also live music duo presenting their material with appropriate volume so that diners could still have a conversation. And, each of the ladies were given a long stemmed red rose. Definitely recommend you visit fish on fire if in the area near Orlando airport.

Fun place on the weekends. If the staff knows you, you're golden. If you're dining and it's busy, good luck w/ service. Cute patio, you can bring your dog. Friday night they have steel drums on the patio. Soothing. Makes you feel like you're on vacay and not right near the 528. Food is just average. But very clean. A fun neighborhood place. Just so so food.

Didn't make any judgements based on cute atmosphere, but did try everyone's food at the table! Burger made perfect. Fish tacos... nom, nom, nom, nom! Chicken fingers, delish and hand made not dumped from a bag into a fyolator. Mine, a beautifully done blackened mahi sandwich (I dumped the bread it was big enough), perfect coleslaw and YUMMY, I MEAN YUMMY side of beans and rice which could be its own meal! So glad we wandered in from the Orlando airport- it only took 7 mins to get there! Oh almost forgot the Key Lime pie, I am not much for dessert, but this could conveft me easily! Great balance, fabulous crust!!!

Flies buzzin' around, interesting methods of refills, and a $0.05 to use their toilets, Fish on Fire is the place where it's at if you're a biker or if you have the misfortune of landing in a La Quinta Inn during your stay in Orlando.

If not for Chili Daddy hosting one of his chilis at this place, we wouldn't have thought to visit it. The location is somewhat obscure, and the atmosphere seemed a little too far from my comfort zone. But I should have known. I love Oblivion Taproom and I am by no means a biker or metal-head. Although Fish on Fire doesn't have the best seafood in town, they do offer some pretty decent grub, considering its unassuming location and atmosphere. It made for a very pleasant surprise. The only thing they're missing is a decent craft beer menu to go with their decent grub. I highly recommend the fish tacos and fried catfish. Their brunch on Sundays is also pretty darn good, with a strong Bloody Mary available for a really good price. The live music tends to provide great entertainment, but I might be slightly biased since the last few times I've been here was to support a couple of musicians that I know. Talk about not judging a book by its cover - Fish on Fire may not be a must-try, but definite worth at least one try.

The service is great; the servers are friendly and willing to help. However, they were a little slow. I did like how the bartender looked up a drink that I asked for when she didn't know how to make it. She made it really well. The food was delicious. I had seared tuna, bacon wrapped shrimp, and firecracker shrimp. I loved how I got to eat outside. Environment really nice.

Stopped by for Dinner before dropping someone off at the airport. Close to the airport. Food was reasonably good. Had the fish tacos, and the shrimp and corn bisque which was good. The kids cheese pizza was basically cheese and sauce on flat bread. Probably skip the pizza as the kids preferred our fish tacos. BBQ wasn't available. I suppose the overall service could have been faster, but the alternative is McDonalds next door.

My Brother-in law took us there and we loved it. We are from Michigan and eating outside was a pleasant change from the snow and ice at home. The service was ok, a bit slow but ok. But it is the food that rocks here. I had the fish taco and it was awesome. My wife had the grouper sandwich and loved it. The home made from scratch key lime pie was a huge hit.

We got the shrimp basket and they were fantastic! Great drinks great prices. The service was fast and the servers were informative. We will stop here anytime we are headed to the airport.

I just want to love this place.. :-( Came back in recently with mom in law and daughter. The service on this day just sucked, the waitress was MIA for long periods of time. Blamed the bartender for taking too long on getting my drink. It was steady in there but all the other servers were on top of their tables. Wish I had gotten her name. I ordered a steak because I'm not big on seafood. The steak was extremely salty, tender but salty. I'm sure my blood pressure sky rocketed halfway through. I just couldn't eat it. My b/f did get the fatty melt (my favorite) and he did switch with me. He regretted that decision. To me this place is more for drinking than eating. They offer bingo and fun things at the bar. Well that's my update, sadly taking stars away.

Divey-- yes but it was great from the service to the live music

What an awesome time. Joe our server was very attentive and accommodating. Our food came out quickly and one person in our party's food was a little delayed but Joe did a great job of compensating for the delay. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. The food was good...they specialize in seafood; however the burgers are good too! They have live bands as entertainment; tonight's band was Doc & The Brothers of Blues and they were awesome!

I love this place and I come here often for lunch . The Grouper Reuben is my favorite . I also love the Dip O Da Rib sandwich which is a huge French Dip like sandwich . And for an appetizer get Cleopatra or the Cajun flatbread .

I would like to give a 3.5, but Yelp doesn't appear to allow, I don't think it is worth a 4. This place is more of a local Bar atmosphere, smoky at times and sometimes iffy on the crowd. The food was decent, but not exceptional. We ate the bacon wrapped jalapeño stuffed cheddar shrimp, fish tacos and chicken strips for the kids. I will say that the chicken strips were very good as it was not processed chicken like many restaurants serve. The free clam chowder I received for checking in online was decent, but should have been served with oyster crackers and not Ritz. The tacos were OK. The service was good as they did not ignore us, and when we asked for something, they brought it in a timely manner. No attitude, good attentiveness. Try it, just don't have high expectations.

Fish on Fire is more of a bar than a restaurant. The open bar to the outside eating area is neat but overall this place is nothing super special. The food was okay and the service was fine but I wouldn't really recommend them. I wanted this place to be good because it was the only thing in walking distance from the hotel but it just wasn't that great.

Love this place! Fish Tacos are one of my favorites, Fish dip is amazing! Live music Thursday's-Sunday's lovin' that! Stop by and meet the staff always friendly! If you are looking for a place to feel at home and have a great meal this is your kinda place!

Service a little lacking from one time experience. Server never asked if we wanted refills, and didn't remember what we ordered, and didn't ask if we wanted dessert. Food was a mixed bag. Flat bread Cajun shrimp not good.

I went here with a small group who were turned on to this place because it was close to the airport. If you're not familiar with the area Google maps will lead you right to it, but the other folks were trusting Apple maps and had to make a U turn or two to find it. Once you're there it's a simple hole in the wall kind of place. We were seated and our drink orders were taken while we looked over the menus. They have a large seafood selection and it seems they have a wide selection of ways to prepare it. They also have pulled pork, burgers, and some other land lubber fare. I had the burger and it was pretty good. It was obviously made by hand and was pretty juicy. The service was friendly and reasonably responsive. If I was back in the area and could drive a little further there are plenty of other good choices on Semoran that I'd probably go check out first. If not, Fish on Fire is a decent choice.

Service is terrible! Waitress got 2 out of 3 orders wrong. Frozen drinks tasted watered down as waitress took forever to bring drinks to table.. I Ordered fish tacos, aot of breading and very greasy....terrible. Another order was wings that were small and over fried. Vegetables were frozen and tasteless. Ordered second drinks but had to go to bar to get it myself as waitress never brought it. Over charged on one meal and waitress told us that's the way she rang it up and just give her cash for correct amount...omg.

The salad greens were fresh and lovely - dressing on the side, plenty of peppers feta and kalamata olives. The wahoo was perfect - Caribbean style nicely grilled, and the black beans and collard greens were just rite!

My boyfriend and I came here after we missed the entrance to Bonefish. He has been here before, but I was hesitant to come because of the so-so reviews. We arrived and got seated right away. My boyfriend ordered an IPA and I ordered a Cran Vodka. The waitress brought my boyfriend a bud light, not an IPA. She didn't even know what they had on tap. On top of that, the band started playing and it was so ridiculously loud we couldn't even hear each other talk (even after yelling) and we were 2ft away from each other. I ordered the Mahi (which I was kind of surprised at how expensive it was - $16? I can buy a pound of wild Mahi at Publix for like $6), and my boyfriend got the soup and flatbread. He also asked for garlic bread on the side. About 2 minutes later his soup came out, and our waitress said "We actually don't have garlic bread, we ran out, so you get crackers with your soup." And walked off. Who runs out of bread? Not to mention we were sitting right near the door to the kitchen, and I saw plenty of bread. Don't tell me you can't improvise! When our meals came out, my fish was pretty plain, but I got a side of veggies and red potatoes. The veggies were the same steam-in-the-bag veggies that you can buy at your local grocery store, definitely not fresh, and no salt or pepper on them. Very plain. The potatoes I got were two plain potatoes, no seasoning, nothing. They weren't even red potatoes. I was going to ask for butter or sour cream, but our waitress never came by to check on us. Definitely not worth $16. So, yeah. Not really anything impressive here. Sorry, but you're better off going to Bonefish.

If you read my reviews you can tell I like my seafood and BBQ. I prefer local joints over chains so my mom picked this place to go for her birthday. Literally, this is horrible. Horrible horrible horrible. They get 1 star because of the fishing and salt life decor but it's a resturaunt not a retail store. Pulled pork was horrible, fries were freezer burned, everything tastes good drowned in honey mustard, but not these fries. I think milkbones would taste better. Catfish was dried out. Basically , 4 out of 5 dinners were sent back. My boyfriend asked for a manager and the waiter said she already discounted the ticket and if he still wanted to talk to someone. It made me feel like she's been in that situation before. Look, I believe in local joints, small businesses and the fishing life style but this place should just be a bar with live music and not a place with a full 2 page menu.

I like this place. I sat at the bar chatted with fellow patrons We were all having a good time. Good drink and food specials. I had wings at fof. They were very good. Later on I had the gator bites I finished the plate but not eating gator all the time I could not say if it was done properly or not. I am coming back next time I am in town. I recommend anyone in the area check it out. Back again this place still rocks.

Good quick lunch, when there's not much else around! I really liked my catfish fingers and the slaw was pretty good as well. My meal (also came with bread and fries) only came to $7 which is a great deal, especially when I was worried about price because it was right next to my hotel. I only wish they had more seafood choices that were not fried!

One of the best fish places I have been in. Their blackened grouper is really good and, surprise, their wings are too.

This place was in the parking lot of our hotel so we figured why not. They have a nice outside patio/bar area. We started with a house salad and a cup of shrimp corn chowder (free for Yelp check in - thanks). I ordered the fried Grouper sandwich with fries and it was good. My gf ordered the fish tacos with beans/rice. She liked her tacos but the beans had a odd flavor. The service was good and the beers were cold.

Came here with my business colleague just before our flight out of Orlando. Some good surprises, some duds. Mostly, we were a little sketched out by the La Quinta behind the restaurant. We both got blackened grouper sandwiches with crab soup. The fish itself was great-- a pleasant surprise. However, the buns seemed to be cheeseburger buns from McDonald's (actually next door, so it doesn't seem all that far fetched). The soup was also most definitely out of a can. My colleague said it reminded her of why she grew up hating soup. Not a good thing. We each finished with a key lime pie--average, but good. It's a great place to stop in for a casual bite to eat. The quality of the fish makes it more refined than your typical bar food, but don't be expecting too much.

Pretty solid experience. For sitting outside, good/simple food, and drinks, this is perfect. To be clear: this isn't fine dining. This is a place to have fish tacos, and lounge about. It's relaxed, and friendly.

Local restaurant and bar that is a not so hidden gem. Blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich is simply...excellent! They live up their name! Service is fast, friendly with a nice mix of 'tude. The full bar has seating both inside and outside. Music is a great mix of 80's and today. And with band equipment set up on one wall, I can only imagine how rockin' this place gets! You've read this much, give in and GO! Excellent food, great atmosphere...You will not be disappointed!

We went here on a whim while staying in the hotel next door. This place is AWESOME! The food was great- it was my first time trying a lot of different foods that night and the people could not have been nicer. This is the type of place I imagine Cheers to be like in real life. There were a few townies here and they were happy to talk to us- including the owner. He could not have been nicer and the experience was great. I had the fried gator appetizer and oysters and both were delicious. They will be happy to show you their prized fishing trophies and swap stories. Live music and great bartenders were the perfect start to our vacation.

I am so happy to have found this place! I am here four days for work. I've eaten here twice for lunch and plan to eat here the rest of my trip. The seafood is soooooooo delicious and fresh! And cheap! I had the best tuna I have eaten in recent memory and it was only $8! I also had the blackened mahi mahi, and it was also fabulous. The service was a bit slow but definitely worth the wait.

I don't think Fish on Fire is getting enough credit on here. I consider the Fish to be a local watering hole favorite in my neighborhood. It's a staple over in Belle Isle and we enjoy it. Fish on Fire just reopened not so long ago after a fire destroyed it. Not being able to go grab a bite to eat and drinks left many sad Fish on Fire loyalists. So, while the food is not gourmet by any means this place does exactly what it's meant to do. It fills up your belly, quenches your thirst and provides a lively atmosphere. The fish tacos are a must - they are delicious! Also, be sure to ask for their daily oyster specials. Their oysters are priced better than average and you should slurp down a dozen or so while sipping Fish on Fire's very own beer. There is always a crowd of locals that light the place up. On many nights you can hear live music. Their is indoor and outdoor seating available as well. Please don't go to Fish on Fire if you expect fast , five star service or if you're uptight. This is a place to relax, have a good time and mingle with friends. You might see me roll up on my bicycle (yep, that makes me enjoy it just a little bit more).

I went here on my lunch break because I had passed it a couple times and I love seafood so I stopped in. It is definitely a locals hang out. The service was okay, the waitress helped me with my selection of the two choices I was interested in. I chose to have the shrimp basket and fries, I asked her how long it would take being lunch time goes fast. So I got my order, although the shrimp were small, they tasted really good the garlic bread was good and toasted as well. All in all it was a nice experience and will go back and try something else. I give this place 4 stars the only reason its not 5 is because the prices could be a bit cheaper.

We are huge fans of this place. We live about 10 minutes away and we always have a good time eating here. My favorite is the fish tacos, they are so yummy! I love the relaxed atmosphere and the indoor/outdoor seating. The folks at the bar always seem to be having a good time, but we are always sitting at a table with our 2 year old. We always miss the live music, but it looks like they have bands pretty often.

I am from California and was staying in Orlando on vacation. Went to Fish on Fire on a Sunday during NFL playoffs and they had many TV's to watch the games, plenty of good beer on draft, and decent food. My seafood salad was very good and our waitress was super friendly and attentive despite the obvious fact that we weren't locals.

Stopped here when we landed in Orlando. Cold beer, great margaritaville tunes, we all loved the fish tacos and the buffalo wings were tasty too. We sat on the patio which is great only thing missing was some water to look out at....guess the highway will do that close to the airport! Overall good spot definitely better then any chain restaurants around the area.

I live in Orlando and visit this restaurant regularly. It's one of my favorite places to have dinner on a weeknight, or grab a few drinks and appetizers with a few friends on a weekend. This is one of the few places where there is a beach-like, caribbean vibe with outside/inside seating and bar that is pet-friendly in Orlando. The decorations are all fish themed with very bright colors that make you feel at home. There is always something going on whether it is poker night, trivia, themed nights, or bands playing, which sometimes even includes steel drums on the patio. The atmosphere is very casual, down to earth, and laid back. It is definitely a place to take your whole family and enjoy. As far as the food, I have never had anything that I don't like. For an appetizer, the shrimp on fire is the way to go! It is wrapped in a big piece of bacon with cheese, shrimp, and jalapeno! For lunch or dinner, the seared ahi tuna sandwich is always a big, fresh piece cooked perfectly. Also, the fried white tacos are amazing! My husband is not a seafood person, but there are tons of other options from burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken, ect. He prefers the sorrento steak tips! The servers always have a smile on their face and the owner loves to engage in conversation with his customers. All in all, if you want a fun environment, something different than a chain restaurant, and to just relax and have a good time then I would highly recommend this place!

This place totally took me by surprise. It is essentially a hole-in-wall gem. Orlando is a town built for tourists and loaded with restaurants of every ilk. This place is built for locals. It have good food - cooked from scratch, and good music. This is where locals go to get away from tourists.

Fun, stress-free, friendly. We enjoyed the raw oysters, conch chowder (courtesy of a Yelp check-in, thanks!), gator bites, and fish tacos, along with a few beers. We were staying at the hotel next door, very convenient. Lots of TVs with sports on. I didn't see any kids running around. This isn't really a family place, more a fun happy-hour place. We really enjoyed it.

We went on the day of their gumbo fest, so it was really busy. They had some live bands playing. I sat at the bar and had a shrimp basket, which was very good. Prices are reasonable. It seems like a fun place to hang out and grab a very casual bite to eat.

Was reccomended this place by a hotel that my friends were staying at. It was near by so we decided to give it a try. It was a week night and noticed there were two contrasting bands playing both inside and outside. Walked in and there was no one at the hostess stand, waited for awhile and a girl that turned out to be the hostess was walking back and forth around the restaurant without having acknowledged me once. I chased her down and told her I'd like a table for three and she said she has no one waiting so she could take us right over to a table as soon as they put silverware rolls down. We wait for over 5 minutes, and then someone else sits down at the table. She ignores me when I try to ask her whats going on, and we awkwardly stand there for another 5 minutes easily wondering if we should leave. She approaches us and say follow me right this way... Then turns around as we are following to say that someone's at the table... We ask how this can happen and she says the server there was giving the tables to his friends! So we very politely ask if we can see a manager. She says he's behind the bar... We again politely say, I'm sure he will come out from behind the bar... She walks away and comes back with someone else. A girl who says she's also kind of a manager comes over and when we explain what happened she says that the hostess is the weakest link so to speak and that she can't control the server from seating his friends. When we say it's not her fault at all and that you should have more control over your servers, she said that it's actually the owners friend... She also points out that we made the hostess cry... We asked if the manager would be available to call during the day, she says umm yeah i guess...she looks around and a table was getting up and promised us we would get that table and an appetizer on the house. By this time we had been waiting twenty minutes. We ordered the alligator app and it was very chewy although the sauce was good. The dolphin was very good but expensive at $16 for such a small piece. The hush puppies that accompanied it were like raw dough on the inside. Over all we all seemed satisfied enough with the food but it was nothing we would go back for:/ the server tried to rush me the entire time I was eating too, which annoyed me a little... This place was so unorganized and crazy, no one took any responsibility for anything and the food wasn't even that great. I'll never be back, but hopefully you have one of these great local experiences everyone mentioned on here! Good luck

Our hotel shuttle driver recommended this place. The waitress was really friendly & very patient in helping us understanding the menu options. Her name is Kate. I got my free soup of the day from Yelp checkin offer. The soup was awesome! It was mixed baby shrimps, corns and potato cubes cream soup went perfectly with crackers. I ordered seared ahi tuna salad just like how it shows in the photo collections. It's really good!! Love the music very relaxing although I don't listen to country music.

My wife and I went to dine here because we had dined there prior to it closing for a year and it was good. My wife ordered the Sea Bass and when they brought it, it was raw, it smelled and it just did not taste good. It was sent back and they eventually brought it back after "putting it back on the grill". Once you get a bad taste in your mouth, it is very hard to get over it. Another key to eating fish is if it smells or tastes fishy, its not fresh and this one was definitely not fresh. We tried it once it got back from the kitchen and it did not taste fresh so that was our last attempt. We were disappointed and unfortunately will not be going back.

I really wanted to give his place a second chance but our obviously torn up server has started the meal a rude and jut as we were enjoying hearing Dream On over the speaker, she turns it to Whitney Huston. Really? She just died and is really the last person I want to hear today. We mentioned we had been enjoying the music and her response was throwing her as up in the air and walking away. Great impression. Go snort some more coke.

Ok, so I gave this place another try and originally planned on getting a quick drink before meeting someone for dinner elsewhere. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by my enjoyment of the atmosphere, cold beer, and tasty appetizers. It's been over a year since I was last here, which was a very negative experience, but this time around was pretty decent. Of course, it is a slow Monday night, which could explain better service and food, but who knows...won't count them out for a drink in the future and may even try out dinner service again! Make up your own mind about them..

Lively place full of locals. The food was acceptable, but not in any way exceptional. Our server was very attentive but apparently the kitchen had messed up a lot of her orders, ours being one of them. So three of us finished our dinner practically when my wife received hers. If you like singing "Sweet Caroline" along with the band and the other patrons this is the place for you.

good service, local dive (in a good way) feel, bar/noisy atmosphere, affordable menu choices, diverse menu, had the chicken sandwich with blackened cajun which was good., fish fingers basket, fried shrimp, chicken fingers were good. seems they fresh batter their stuff. fries weren't that great, floppy fries., "fresh made" banana cream pie was ok, not many bananas though. good portions. would go again.

  • Jerry V.

I so badly want to love this place! I've been many times and the most consistent thing is the excellent service, the locals with their beer koozies; not to mention the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke (inside or out). They need to focus on quality because it's slipping (i.e. the fries always taste old and the fish tacos are just so-so with very little fish). The Grouper was just okay but my wife loved the Mahi Mahi Sandwich. Living in Florida I expect better seafood that is always fresh and LOCAL. I asked and unbelievably some of the fish is from Mexico! WHY? Because it's too expensive to buy local! I paid $13 for a piece of Grouper! I think I'm done and most likely won't be back.

All of the reviews were right about the bitchy service, but your in a local bar, not Disney world. I have 2 words that make up for it GROUPER RUBEN. It was heavenly in every bite. If you've ever been to one of the dives on the beaches, this place has it on them hands down without the long drive to the coast.

What can I say about this place bar is probably good but food and service is just terrible, I ordered a cup of bisque as a appetizer but after a wait of 10 + minutes I was informed that this was no longer available but they had a Maryland crab soup available which I accepted so we waited some and finally asked if the soup was ready yet, soup turned up and 2 minutes later the mains, My wife's pulled pork had a weird taste and sauce was watery laying in the bottom of the plate, seemed to be trainee day the day we tried it. Don't think we will be returning to try the food again.

Fish on Fire is in an unassuming location, but delivers quality seafood at a reasonable price. It's absolutely true that the service is lacking a bit. But, this is definitely the kind of establishment where you become a regular and get to know the staff and the other regulars. It is definitely a locals-only type of place and I don't recommend it to visitors and tourists. However, if we are talking about the food, you can expect the food to be comforting, not pretentious, and cooked from the heart. I take two stars off because the accessibility of the atmosphere is not on par with the accessibility of the food.

This hidden jewel has re-opened after a long remodel due to a fire . With a new spacious dining room and new huge bar , Fish on Fire will visually impress from the start . Live music is back on track . And if you are musically inclined you can get on stage and rock it ! The best change is the all new menu. The quality of the food is sure to keep you coming back . My favorite was the fish dip as an appetizer and the blackened Mahi Mahi entree . Great food , great price , great atmosphere , what more can you ask for .

This place blows the food is good to great ... But the aggrevation of the service just flat out makes the trip not worth it. 14 minutes on service when we sat down then just got worse from there. The bad part is, is that I live in the area and enjoy there food but will not go back due to their service. Just in case you were wondering I went there before the place burnt down and stopped going there then due to their service.so they are off my list I suggest they stay off yours

When I first arrived I felt like the extra walking into Cheers. Everyone knew each other and heads stopped to turn and look. For a second I was nervous I interrupted something but everyone went back to chatting and the waitress/bartender took us outside to a table. Most of the place is run down. The TVs turned off randomly, the menus were ripped up, and the place didn't look to well. Luckily the food and drinks were good. Their long islands are nice and they have a decent beer selection as well. The chips and salsa, as normal as that may sound, were quite good with a nice flavor to the chips. I had the Shrimp, Shrimp, and More Shrimp plater which was good and my fiance had the Pulled Pork sandwich. Nothing to go out and search for but if you're staying at the nearby La Quinta and need some food, this will do.

I was happy to hear that Fish on Fire had re-opened. We went on a Friday night and the place was crowded, but there wasnt much of a wait for a table. The remodeled place is much bigger, more open and brighter. There was a mix of families and groups eating dinner. The crowd at the bar was probably an average age of 50+, but maybe it gets younger as the night goes on. There was music that was going to start at 9:00 but we had left before it started so didnt get a chance to check it out. The menu had good variety from seafood to burgers to sandwiches and barbecue. The Cleopatra flatbread was yummy. Tomato, olives, feta and some bananna peppers. Like a greek salad on a flat bread. The menu said drizzled with greek dressing, but ours wasnt. I'm glad it wasnt because I think with dressing and the tomato, it would have gotten soggy. They were busy but our server stayed right on top of everything. Great local place.

We like fish on fire ....it's close to our home and has a real laid back atmosphere which we like after a long in~office work week. The menu has several really good choices. The blacken Mahi Mahi sandwich is a great deal and always tasty. We go there weekly. One thing I wish they would change is their salads...they are overpriced, small and tasteless ..... lousy presentation. If you offer salads make them memorable or don't offer....does more harm than good. Secondly, a craft beer selection would be a great addition. The waiters are a hit and miss....they don't help create a fun experience.....a little training and alignment of what they are trying to accomplish might help...people usually go to unique places like fish on fire for the "experience"....these guys Are missing a great opportunity to create something special. Be careful or you'll lose the regulars. Wishing you success but a few refinements are needed.

Found it on a google search - was scared on arrival, but went in anyway. (March 3, 2010) It was a bit more casual than I had expected or was looking for, but the food more than made up for it. I'll be back again... assuming they rebuild. Their web page confirms the other poster's comments that they are closed due to a fire, but indicates they'll be open again. If so I'll be back. Better yet, I hope they reopen in a better location.

I've lived in South Orlando for over 30 years and finally got the nerve to walk in. Was apprehensive until the food came out. We love ahi tuna and couldn't believe how incredible it was at this restaurant. Probably some of the freshest and best I've ever tasted. Also got the fried shrimp appetizer which was lightly coated and flashed fried as they were not greasy at all. All of the shrimp were a good size and very good. So glad that we finally took the plunge and will go back soon. ADDENDUM-have been back a couple times since.and have had to lower my rating. What ruined it for me was that (and maybe I've never noticed) the inside dining was totally opened to the outside patio area where the smokers are which means that cigarette smoke was present in the dining area. I don't care how good the food is but I don't want to smell smoke while dining. Also my dining partner again ordered the ahi tuna which has been exceptional in the past and on this occasion was overcooked and tough (probably because it was frozen). We wondered if the regular cook/chef had taken the night off. Might be a while before I got back due to the smoke issue.
