Awesome idea! Great bowling and arcade. But I'll pass on the food

Went here last night for a work party, and it was so awesome! It's only been open a month -- if anyone's familiar with Dave & Buster's, this is a Dave & Buster's, more upscale, prettier, and with a huge bowling alley and a dance area. There is a large pub area -- bar and food, a kiddie bowling area (really cute, off separate from the main area, for little kids), a large arcade, an upstairs that opens after 5pm for the "over 21" crowd only, with lots of pool tables, a bar, a lounge, and a dance floor; and then downstairs in the back of the complex there is a massive, beautiful bowling alley, which has two bars and a food stand by it. Fun, glitzy family or adult style entertainment. A lot of fun. Staff was very pleasant/chatty too.

Really cool place to bowl and great to have big screen TVs showing Music videos and sports above the lanes. Only downside is that at night its really dark and makes a little harder to aim. They have good bowling/drinking specials during the week

Since I moved to Orlando, I've been to Firkin and Kegler twice. Both were for gatherings related to my graduate program, so I was always with large groups of people. The first time doesn't count because we basically sat in the pub upstairs and I didn't eat or drink anything. So we'll focus on this past Saturday night. There were about 16 of us that were supposed to meet up for bowling at F&K's. Beforehand, my boyfriend and I grabbed a bite to eat in the restaurant downstairs. I had a chicken quesadilla off the appetizer menu, and he had a burger. The food was just okay. It was cheap enough...$9.99 for each of our meals. I personally think that the ones at Baja Fresh or Moes are better and cost less, but that's neither here nor there. My boyfriend said his burger was fine, but nothing to write home about. After dinner, we met up with our friends. All of us had to be carded and banded before going into the bowling alley because it was after 8 on a Saturday. The place was packed, as you might imagine, so we waited for two lanes to open up in the pub upstairs. I ordered drinks off the specials menu, a chocolate martini for me and a margarita for Rob. Apparently I was supposed to refer to Rob's margarita as "The 1800 Silver Margarita" and tell the guy that my chocolate martini was the one off the specials menu (even though I never saw another menu in the entire place), because I was charged about $3.50 more for my drink and $0.75 more for Rob's. It was changed, but the pending charge for the entire thing is still on my credit card. I suppose this was my fault, but I think it's a bit ridiculous that if there weren't any other menus around that I'd have to pick up the little plastic stand off the table, march it over to the bartender, and say "THIS ONE" so I don't get charged twice. Whatever. Our group waited about 30+ minutes for our lanes to open up, and once they did we headed downstairs. It took a while to get everyone paid up and get shoes, since there was one person at the cash register and a bunch of other employees standing around. It would have been more efficient to have two registers open. It was about $9.75 for one game and shoe rental because we were with a large group. A little expensive for bowling, but they have to pay for those big screens and sports channels that you see while you're trying to hit your pins! We got our shoes and our lanes and started to bowl. We had an amazing time, and the server who was providing my friends with drinks was very attentive. I didn't order anything, but I always saw her around checking on things. In my opinion, the music was great. It was pretty much everything I listen to (Top 40, 90's music, Daughtry). They had kind of a cosmic bowling thing going on and everything was under a blacklight, so it was a cool atmosphere and the bowling balls they give you glow in the dark. Even though I'm giving this place 3 stars (since it's a bit overpriced and the food isn't too awesome), there is a lot to do and there's really something for everyone. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't on a weekend, since it is so packed with people when you go on a Saturday night. It's worth going at least once, though, just to see what they have to offer and enjoy yourself. Bring a big group and have a firkin good time!

I love this place and have driven from Lakeland more than once to take a medium sized group of rowdy friends. It's perfect if you want pub food (battered, fried) and pitchers of beer or good mixed drinks and BOWLING. It seems like many of the reviews bashing the joint forget that it's a bowling alley with bar and game rooms that serves food. To be fair I think you have to compare it (and the food) to other bowling alleys, NOT sit down restaurants. You can get loud, silly and rowdy and fit right in. If you want a night of "upscale bowling", then this is the place I would suggest! Btw, our server at our lane was AMAZING!! We left last night having what we always do at F&K, a FANTASTIC time!!

I really wanna give this place more stars cause I honestly had a great time here. Bowling was fun..to all those critics who complain about the music and the tv screens..well this isn't a pro bowling alley it's a family fun center so if u don't like it don't go..I actually enjoyed the tvs was able to watch the UFC fights while I was bowling...drinks weren't badly priced...the only reason I can't give it more stars would be cause of the food but I honestly didn't expect anything more then bar quality do I wasn't disappointed..just don't expect a 5 star restaurant!

This place is NICE! I wish it was closer to home... Very cool atmosphere, nice bowling area, HUGE TVs ( my hubby loved these), All other kinds of games. Full bar, and food too! It has that mature look for grown ups and I enjoy that. Go and check it out!

I grew up on Chuck E. Cheese and other game rooms that were similar in nature and concept...so you can imagine my excitement when I heard Firkin Kegler was being built only 4 miles from my home. I was uber ecstatic and thought for sure I would be love with this place. Unfortunately, when I finally ventured over there it didn't satisfy my love for game rooms and being a kid again. While the concept is a clever one combining a bowling alley, restaurant, game room and dance club atmosphere all into one, it doesn't flow as well as the developer would've liked I'm sure. There is definitely a lot to do, but the prices are a bit heftier than I expected and I can't say it's worth it. The bowling area is really cool, especially at night when the black lights come on illuminating the whole area into a purplish haze. There are huge TV screens above all lanes usually showing a sporting game of some kind and there is music of all genres blaring above the sound of the TVs. A good thing is the shoes are newer and don't smell or look gross...yet of course, I'm sure if you give it time it will be that way (ewww!). The game area is small, but packed with arcade-like games, a pool table and a few others. In order to play you can't just stick your coins in the slots, instead you must get a game card and load money on to it. This could be convenient if you come here a lot, but rather inconvenient if you don't...which was the case with my boyfriend who still has a card with money on it and doesn't plan on going back anytime soon. The dance area is small and usually empty. Who would want to dance in the middle of a game room and essentially look like a fool? No thank you! I haven't had the opportunity to try their restaurant and I probably won't ever do so because I've heard nothing but negative things about it. Their bar, however, is full service, which is always a good thing. At night on the weekends, it's 18 and older only, which is good because you can go with your friends and not worry about rug rats running around and ruining your fun or your buzz. Parking, on the other hand, is a nightmare if you don't get there before 6ish in the evening. The lot is not big, so if there is not open spaces you have to park in the back of Waterford Town Center or in the lot of the other shopping plaza nearby...the walk isn't too bad though. Overall, not bad, but not my choice place to go and be a kid again...or to hang out with friends. Personally, I prefer Boardwalk for bowling because it's cheaper.

I really really want to take away a star but that means I wouldn't come back and I know my family will rope in for the bowling. sigh.. and the bowling is cool--- it really is----- but THE Food. Well that's another story. I've been willing to overlook the past issues but I am now officially done. After a very long wait for our table ( 45+ minutes), we started with the spinach and artichoke dip. The chips were break your teeth stale. Not a great way to start the meal. Luckily they must have opened a fresh bag cause the next round was better. I ordered a caesar salad for my meal. It came drenched with dressing ( I had asked for it on the side) and I'm not sure what this dressing was supposed to be but it wasn't any kind of caesar I'd ever had before. My husband's steak sandwich was ok--- a little dried out. My child's grilled cheese sandwich was also on the over-done side. Friends we were with all felt the same way- the food was just blah. Sorry you could be so Firkin cool- but I'm afraid you've just got us for the bowling and maybe, if you're lucky, drinks in the pub. That's about Firkin it.

I couldn't stay long here because the night I went the power went out and decided to leave, but what I did do was a lot of fun. Like an amusement park for (almost) grown ups, Firkin Kegler has a lot to offer. Walking in, it's like a spot you would find on Church Street, but the building smells brand new. Downstairs is a pub type restaurant where every menu item is paired to go with a pint. Staffed almost entirely by UCF kids, the service suffers while the major criteria to gain employment is your head shot more than your GPA. The big draw is the bowling alley that looks something like if the trading floor of NASDAQ opened up a bowling alley with big screens a plenty. And when I say big screens I mean almost tent-sized. Didn't get too much time in front of the arcade, but I always appreciate an activity while drinking, and this place has plenty.

This place could be fun as it has all the cool aspects you might expect in a bowling alley, slash video arcade, slash sports bar. But unfortunately its just too crowded to find a parking spot much less rent a lane or even get in the door. Children were running mad around Firkin and it seemed every family in town had picked this particular Saturday to bring in the troops. And this was at 8:00pm, not super early as you would expect. Plus, a vallet at a bowling alley? This was just too much. I asked about the wait on a lane and was told 2 hours. Wow. To bowl, I don't think so. But, the lanes were sunken in and the huge TVs over them were cool though, it seemed like you could really watch a game while playing one here. The lightening was also more like a club than a smelly bowling alley and I was told there is an actual club like area upstairs. Firkin is definitely a wave of the future, I would love to go back and actually see what the Firkin and Kegler has to offer those making it inside.

Family friendly atmosphere.. It was kinda dead on Friday so maybe the hype is gone...

  • Paul G.

Serious bowlers STAY AWAY. This place will only hurt your feelings and make you question your skills. The lanes are not well maintained, and the lighting is nonexistent. You can't see the spots or arrows. Even if you could, the warped lanes will send your ball off course. Also, the seating at the lanes is weird, so you might have to kick a group out of your seats. Awkward. On the other hand, if you like bowling purely for fun and want to enjoy some TV and music, this is the place for you. You can also enjoy dancing on their never (ever) crowded dance floor. One caveat: sometimes they have semi-private parties in the bar area. There will be drink and food specials posted that only apply to party guests. But the postings don't tell you this. Question everything and trust nothing.

Firkin and Kegler is essentially a multi-purpose hang-out spot and I like to hang out here 'de vez in cuando'. They offer family friendly activities like bowling, arcade and dining. In addition they offer plenty of adult-only activities including a bar, a nightclub, line-dancing classes, ladies night, etc. Sorry, the bumper lanes are not for the grown and sexxy -- they are for the kiddos only. I mostly come here when I feel like slinging an 11-12 pound ball across a wooden lane (wink). The lanes are usually decent and the price is good. There are specials offered Sunday through Thursday - I personally like $2 Tuesdays where you pay $2 per game, $2 for shoes and $2 domestic pints. Thursday is Ladies Night. Overall the place is generally clean and there are plenty of big screen tvs all around for game/movie watching. For the large size of the place, the parking lot seems rather small, however, I've yet to experience an issue finding parking. Every time that I go, I have a good time and I think that the prices are pretty good. I've never had the food here...I wonder if that is any good...?

Always a good time for bowling, drinks, and food. We love coming here with a group of friends for a fun night out. The food is nothing special and overpriced, but it works. The atmosphere you get at firkin is unlike any other bowling alley I have ever been to. Music, drinks, massive TV screens, pool tables, a full bar, etc. They also have a full sit down restaurant and upstairs there is a bar and some pool tables. If you come here don't expect it to be a cheap date. It is very expensive. If it wasn't for the cost I would give it 5 stars!

Not sure why you have to be 6 and under to use the bumpers. It's no fun for someone just learning to bowl to get zero pins. I'll stick with Oviedo Bowling from now on. I WILL NEVER COME BACK !

Lanes are Poor: Every time I come to this location, I have had the lanes malfunction. Pins will tip over on restock, turns will be skipped, machines wont read the letters you input, etc. Also, this will occur more than once during the time that you bowl. Staff is Unfriendly and Unhelpful: All the staff members have a superiority complex about them. They talk down to you and if you ask them for help (usually for there broken machine) they make it seem like it's a huge ordeal. Owners are even worse than the staff. Way Overpriced: This is the most expensive bowling alley in the area. Additionally, there specials are not very good. Food: Food tastes old. The food is also overpriced. Location: The location is close to my house and this is the only reason why I have returned to this alley more than once. However, after bowling at a few other places, I will never be returning here! Not Family Friendly: This place advertises as "Family friendly" but its designed reminds me of a bar. I would not bring my kids here. Overall: I am a 2-3 game, 1-2 times a month kind of guy. I just want some decent, working, lanes and some good prices. I got neither at this place. With that said, I don't believe anyone would find this place appealing. High quality bowlers would run into the problem of poorly oiled lanes, broken machines, and too many screens and lights to distract you. Occasional bowlers, just want a place that's cheap. Not here. Family bowlers do not want to be at a bar or deal with rude and unfriendly staff. Avoid.

The kiddie bowling is probably the cutest (and smartest!) idea yet. I love taking my two year old daughter here and letting her play. So much fun. It is very expensive though (for adults) to bowl. And the food isn't all that great. Still will return specifically for the baby bowling.

Very fun relaxed atmosphere, nice for all occasions or for a date night with you spouse. Great deals & coupons! Bowling is super fun! Family oriented!

Went here for bowling and stopped by the arcade. They had big big (I mean.. BIG!) projector TV screens in front of the bowling lane. It was so perfect because I was able to watch my Red Sox play at the same time that I was bowling! Firkin and Kegler's is pretty clean, along with the arcade area, and also the bathrooms. The small arcade was fun, with Big Buck Hunting, basketball, air hockey, skee ball, and a whole bunch more. I had a fun time. It is a bit pricey but other than that, it was a great time.

Went on a Saturday night and was not impressed! I have been here several times but the service and quality continues to decline. We paid $45 for one child and two adults to play two games. Since we never get service at our lane like we used to, we order drinks from the bar. The bartender said they had no specials so we ordered some beer. My daughter loves the slush puppies and the machine was down so she was disappointed, I went to the bar and asked if they could make a nonalcoholic piña colada. They told me they did not have blenders...NONE!! Really?! They have three huge bars and no one can get a mixed drink? The entire two games we did not have a server approach us at all so we decided to head to a neighboring sports bar to eat! My final impression was the restroom which was disgusting!!! It had dried vomit along the walls and the cleanliness was a joke! I will go to Boardwalk Bowl from now on or take the extra drive to head to kings bowling on I drive.

We were there on a Sunday evening. Everyone was initially excited to go. We wanted to take photos at the two story bus, and upon walking around the bus, a man taking out the garbage glared at us. Even when we talked to him, he looked grim and didn't say a word. The mood was definitely altered even before we walked in the door. Then, one in our party was wearing a tank top... but they sold him a t-shirt. However, as others pointed out, there was a party of women wearing very skimpy and tight clothing. The rules are applied unfairly. We did not try the food, though we were hungry. We finished bowling and went elsewhere, not wanting to be served by a staff who seemed to have been trained to Soviet style service standards. The staff in general didn't crack a smile or offer help or try to help us have a nice time. The bowling was fun but honestly we won't rush back because the staff was not pleasant. In short, everyone went from excited to go there, to wanting to walk off without finishing the game.

What a hidden gem! I came here last night with my boyfriend for their Tuesday $2 games. 4 games each and 2 shoe rentals came out to be about $22. Seriously, that's not a bad deal! I love how each lane gets their own small booth and table; you can chill and watch some sports on the giant TVs above the lanes while you play. We got some beer, chicken tenders, and the Irish chips. The food came out hot, it was good, and I have no complaints. I saved the best for last; our waitress was AMAZING! She was very attentive, yet, not overwhelming with her presence. She made our stay very comfortable. Will we be coming back here? HELL YES!

Good hang out place for the whole family. They have the traditional bowling for adults with a bar & the kiddie bowling for the little ones. It is a great idea to have fun as a family; however, the prices are a little steep here & the service staff is not too friendly. I'd still recommend to go check it out but I wouldn't come here too often myself.

Hard to find this place, its way in the the back of Waterford Lakes. You cant get there from the mall. It shows because there were about twenty people in this place that is huge. Never even knew this was there poorly advertised i guess. We came basically to bowl and check it out. The lane locked up on us twice and the computer screen was pretty useless. There are buttons all over the computer one said help, which they ignored. Place pretty empty took 10 minutes to fix, second time took five minutes. The house balls were very old, beat up and oily even in the holes. They actually looked like they were bought used, in such bad shape. At a minimum the oil in the holes caused you to release the ball early. It was almost impossible to get a good toss. I usually get a bunch of strikes without even trying, i had none here, I barely broke a hundred. Something was also up with the floor, too much oil warped or something. I don't bowl that much but when i do I take it seriously. I looked at the other bowlers, saw a lot of 3 and 4 pin frames. The balls and carpet showed their age. I am used to bowling in some older lanes but this was by far the worse. I would stick with boardwalk or the Oviedo lanes, at least you aren't fighting the problems here. The gaming room had very old games and not many. Air hockey only thing fun They did have like pecan lanes, well not pecan but pins with strings on them. I saw little kids playing on them, that was kind of nice to see. Just a disappointment, wont be going back.

Ready...set...play! Where can you bowl, kick your boyfriend's butt at skee-ball and enjoy a few adult beverages all at the same time? Here, at Firkin and Kegler, the until recently little known Chuck E. Cheese for adults (but kids are welcome too!) that packs a big punch. Downstairs is bowling with lanes and lounging great for big groups, a full bar and an arcade room full of all your childhood favorites and some new ones too. If you get sick of the crowds you can grab at table in the restaurant and order up some grub. Upstairs is adults only: full bar, pool tables and full menu. Flat screen tvs are all over, so whatever game you're dying to see, they'll have it on. Later night the tvs play music videos of whatever the DJ is spinning downstairs. As a gal who can't find a beer I like, it can be awkward ordering wine at a bar. Firkin solves this by putting Woodchuck on tap! Hellz yes! If cider isn't your thing, they've got 24 others on tap, including their very own Firkin Ale. For food, if you're with a big group, I suggest the Hodge Podge Platter ($19). It included wings, onion rings, calimari, spinach and artichoke dip and santa fe eggrolls. It's plenty for four people. The last time I was there, was for an event for The Future Lawyer and other Future Lawyers and for 20 people, they ordered 5 of these along with a couple other apps. All their food seems to be a crowdpleaser. The dozen or so times I've been, l can't remember a complaint about the food. Service here can be hit or miss. Especially with a big group or late at night. The upstairs staff tends to get a little complacent with their guaranteed 18% and forgets about drinks. Other than that I've never had anything poor to say about the staff. They aren't exceptional but they aren't terrible either. And if you're playing games you hardly even notice. If you haven't given this place a shot yet, drive on over to Waterford. Bring the kids, or just your inner kid, it's bound to be a good time.

You won't get bored here. Bowling, arcade, restaurant, bar, pool tables, dance floor all writhing one roof. Bowling runs between $12-15 a game or 45 bucks for one hour. (shoes included for hourly rates, no matter how big the party is). Food runs between $5-$25 bucks. Nothing fancy, but good.

  • Brittany B.

The reason this place gets 5 stars from me is solely because of their drink special at their upstairs bar on Wednesdays: $2 for all you can drink drafts and wells for ladies. There's great music and pool upstairs as well. Bowling here is a bit pricey, but you can catch specials throughout the week. Their restaurant also has a pretty sweet deal of 2 for $20 similar to Applebee's. The only food I recommend you stay away from is their quesadillas based on the quality of chicken alone.

Looking for a place to be distracted by everything. This is the place for you from huge screens, super loud music and full arcade. Everything distracts you from the main activity bowling. This place purely for hang out , they basically put up this big warehouse which "try" to fill up the space(to me they did a poor job on filling the ambiance, the roofs are to high making it feel empty) of the bowling ally. But besides my pet peeves of the place price of bowling is pretty decent, has a bar and pretty good food for snacking. If you feel like kicking back and have a good social time this is the place for you. -Ok bro ok

Great place for team building. They serve you food, alcohol and provide entertainment with bowling and video games. Lunch was pretty decent. Their large appetizer was great with calamari, southwest eggrolls, onion rings, wings and spinach dip! I ordered their guacamole burger, and I was surprised how fresh and good it was. Definitely a huge size for me, but probably a great size for others. Only downside is that bar service is only provided in the restaurant during lunch time during the week not out in the bowling area. You would have to go back and forth if you wanted to get something.

This place is located around Waterford Lakes and provides great entertainment in the event where you don't feel like being in crowded areas. The best way to describe this place would be like a smaller Dave and Busters, but with bowling alley lanes with giant tv screens. Upon entering you will find the arcade on the bottom floor; they have about 2 air hockey tables, DDR, couple of basket ball hoops, racing car games, and big buck shooting games. I was hoping for more video games but it was a limited selection, regardless still plenty of fun! Upstairs to this magnificent place you will find a club along with the bar, pool tables, and dart boards. Must say I do like the mix of this place since it has a lil somethin' somethin' for everyone so I visit ever so often.

More interesting, more youth-oriented bowling used to be just adding black lights and techno music to a normal bowling alley after midnight. Now it's this -- loud music and giant TV screens over each lane playing music videos and whatever else they're showing. It's a good transition, to be sure. Just don't come here if you really like bowling. I'm not a good bowler these days, but once upon a time as the senior Bush administration was being ushered in, I was a league bowler with an actual interest in improving my skills. I still have an occasional, fleeting desire to do well, but as I only bowl maybe once a year, I am obviously not putting any real effort into it. Still, certain things that would have irritated me then will still irritate me now, even if it isn't for any real reason. The movement on the screens as you're making your shot can be a bit distracting. Is that a problem for me now? No, I suck. The TV's make no difference in my level of suck. But still... Then there's the people. No one there has any manners. When someone in an adjacent lane is making a shot, you hold back and wait until they're done. That's just how it has always been, because having someone flailing around in your periphery is also distracting. No one here knows this. They just run up and granny-toss their 8-lb ball right in the middle of your shot because they don't care and they've been drinking. Next, there's the video game section of the building. Pass. It held my interest for a couple of minutes at best, but there really isn't much there. The bar is okay. Drinks are average in price and average in quality. Not too bad. The restaurant can be okay depending on what you get. I got some variation of a burger once, and it was fine. But then one day they had a prime rib special for a really good price. I love prime rib, so I ordered that. It was medium well (I like my prime rib medium rare at MOST), and it had a colorful sheen on it similar to what you'd see on old roast beef or a puddle of water in the road with oil on the surface. The bottom line for me, is that you can bowl cheaper at a place nearby that's a nice middle ground between F&K and a Lebowski-style alley. And none of the other features at F&K are worth going out of your way for.

I've given this place many chances, and every time I do, something else goes wrong. The service at the upstairs bar is one of the worst I've ever experienced. One time I was charged way more than what I was told the price of a drink was with a certain kind of vodka and when I confronted the server after I received the check, she didn't seem to care, much less do anything about it even though I was clearly not happy. That was the first and hopefully only time I have ever not left a tip.

This is my local spot to get my bowling groove on and some good strong drinks. My boys Adam, Ted, Andrew and all the people are awesome here. I always feel safe and the food is pretty good!! When i want to get my groove on this is the place i travel too.

Firk Yeah! This place was lot of fun. We opted for the hour long bowling session as opposed to game by game. We added another hour because we weren't ready to go yet. As the end of our second hour winded down, we only had about 2 frames left so we started speed bowling to get in as much of the game as we could. Turns out they give you a few extra minutes if you're time runs out and you're almost done the game. That was nice touch. They have music videos playing while you're bowling. It's a lot of fun. They had a mix of current (Lady Gaga, Ke$ha) and old (Gloria Estefan) and classic (Sir Mix-a-Lot). They even had a Charlie Sheen remix. So you know they stay up-to-date. The drink prices are a little high for a bowling alley, but I guess that's because the atmosphere is a bit more of an undertaking. Plus some of the drinks glow in the black lighting. You should also note we got carded and wristbanded on the way in. My biggest complaint with bowling alleys in general is that there are never light weight (8-9lbs) balls with adult-sized finger holes. I end up using the 10lb ball and hurting my arm. Business idea for someone: I'm sure they would sell. There is definitely a need. I can't be the only one with this problem.

What an awesome idea! Perfect for crowds with lotta picky people -- You can please mostly everyone! Combine a bowling alley with a restaurant and a video game arcade.. Add to the mix a bar and a club upstairs. Only reason why this gets 4 stars and not 5 is because they don't have enough video games. =P Anyway, I wish Dave and Busters was this awesome. ^_^

What a fun place. It's like Chuck E Cheese for adults. The biggest difference? Good food! Okay, really good food; the drinks aren't bad either. Yum! The atmosphere is fun and there is something for everyone. Billiards, bowling, karaoke, basketball ... Need I say more? You don't have to carry around tokens either; you can preloaded a specific $ amount on a card and swipe it as you go. This card is also where you accumulate "tickets" to cash in for prizes. Family friendly with things for the kids to do too.

We'd driven by this place for several years and wondered "just wtf is this place about?" There's no real identifying motifs outside. Except for the double-decker bus in the large, mostly empty parking lot and the multi-colored buoys in the pond there was nothing to give a hint as to what was going on inside. But I put in a search for fried calamari in this zip code and this was the closest place that came up. We figured it was time to find out about this place. So, for take out, we ordered crispy fried calamari, cottage pie, chicken tenders and fries and Classic Reuben. To the manager: Dude, what were you thinking? Were you? Didn't the human resources department know enough about the position to state, "applicant must be able to speak coherent and conversational English?" Or were you enough of a jack@@s to think it was funny to put a guy with a stutter on the phone? I'm sure he thought it was hilarious! At first I thought he was a new hire and forgotten where he worked, so I laughed, but when I realized he had a severe stutter I ended up hanging up because I couldn't deal with it. Brilliant move if you don't want business coming in or employees that respect you, mini-balls. If I ever meet you in an alley you better find the closest pad of butter cuz I'm not going to be greasing up anything. Two additional calls later I put our order in ... 15 minutes later, I'm there and the food is ready. Not "waiting" -which is the mistake other places make- but ready. It was a Thursday night at 7pm and the restaurant had one table. The BOWLING lanes were almost full, the GAME rooms had a few persons ... there weren't any parties. To me, it seemed like a tourist trap with a bar/restaurant attached, and the b/r wasn't pulling it's weight. The fried calamari was serviceable. The same batter is probably used for all the other fried seafood and is as bland and middle-of-the-road as can be expected from an establishment designed to appeal to the greatest number of potential guests (i.e., the lowest common denominator). But a good sauce can save a bad calamari any day. Too bad this sauce wasn't it. It was probably the same sauce used for several of the other pasta/seafood dishes and splopped out of the same vat since the year it was born. But add lots of salt and some hot sauce to it and the experience wont go badly. The Reuben, however, was very, very good. I'd suggest a smear of good mustard but outside of Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY this was the best I've tasted. The fries are store-bought, as is the barbeque sauce (Stubbs's I think) and the honey mustard. The chicken tenders are big ... not those finger sized things but really large slabs of chicken. Couldn't tell what part, but chicken is chicken. Can't remark on the cottage pie. My wife makes it herself so after she gives me her notes, I'll incorporate them.

FUN for everyone! I went with a few friend and their kids cam along and we all had a great time. Bowling, music, arcade games, billiards, golf simulator, gargantuous TV with all kinds of sports and shows on... It's definitely hard to get bored or not find SOMETHING you want to do. They have tons of "specials" and they are well worth keeping track and taking advantage of. I just went on a Thursday night and bowling is just $7.77 for 3 games and shoe rental for an additional $0.77. A great place to get together with a bunch of people and not have to worry if everyone is having a good time.

I love places like this. I go with high expectations, even though I usually leave a little disappointed. F&K is a fun place to go, especially if you like bowling. The bowling alley I think was the coolest part, lots of lanes where the backdrop are 50ft screens showing music videos, ESPN, etc. I think it adds a distraction factor which will help those of us who can't bowl compete with those of you who can. I didn't go for the bowling though, I came for the arcade. That was disappointing. It was a small room, where most of the games were either driving or dancing (DDR). There was 1 gun game (Aliens I think) and ski ball. Only 1 pinball machine (Family Guy), in the back, hard to find and impossible to hear. Upstairs is 21+ where there is a separate bar, a dance floor and first come first serve pool tables. So if they are all full, you basically have to stalk the people playing, follow them up to the bar and when they return the balls, tell the bartender you want a table. Pool is $10 an hour, not a bad price. Beer was $4 for Sam Adams. Wed night is 'Ladies Night', the girls drink free and the music is 80's retro. Sounds promising, but I'd need a ride home. They get the bump up from 3 to 4 stars because overall it's a fun place, even though I was disappointed with the arcade. Last thing, it's hard to find this place. It's on the road that's behind the movie theater.

I really enjoy myself every time I go here. The food from the restaurant is delicious. The variety of games in the arcade has something for everyone. If the arcade isn't your thing, you can bowl, they even have mini bowling for the kids. If you just want to hang out with your friends, they have a very comfortable lounge area upstairs with pool tables and a bar. Even a dancing floor if your feelin the music. Over the bowling lanes they have giant tv screens playing whatever sports games are going on. There's also a bar nearby if you want to make things more interesting. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere fun to spend a friday night rather than just the local bar.

The best bowling place in town. Has a restaurant and club as well, but come for the bowling where you can watch all sporting events on huge screens that are behind all the lanes that you bowl at. Pricing is a little high but considering how special it is, it's very well worth it.

What the Firk?!?!...went there yesterday (Saturday) late evening surprised to see that it wasn't packed at all.Went to the just as empty restaurant, the service was good the food was bland. Our group consisted of three kids 2-12 and seven adults 20s-40s...we all had a good time.

Firkin and Kegler seems like the perfect fit for it's Waterford Lakes area location, which is seemingly always bustling with families. This place packs 32 bowling lanes, a pub, bar, restaurant, arcade, dance floor, plus some private banquet rooms all into one massive building. I never tend to eat at the restaurant there, instead choosing one of the better restaurants within stones throw. It is now the place I go for a few games of bowling and a few pints of beer. The arcade is neat enough, but in my opinion could be larger and offer more games. It can get pretty crowded in that little room on the weekends. Firkin and Kegler is definitely a recommendation for those looking for something different to do in the East Orlando area.

Bowling? Check Good Food? Check Air Hockey? Check Quiz Nights? Check Huge TVs with sports on? Check Good Music? Check Bar? Check Nightclub? Check Better yet...CIDER... CHECK!! Basically anything you need to have a good time is here, just bring your friends! I agree with Mel M that this is the Adult Chuck E Cheese (you know you with CEC). This place is huge and very nice and clean! I have been 2 times, once for Quiz night (Help in the loft/sports lounge upstairs) and I have bowled here. Both were awesome. There was a huge turnout for quiz night so that was a plus. Also, the loft looks over the bowling ally so you can see all of those various TVs. As large and open as this place is it's not overwhelming at all. I love that they have cider on tap of course, always a plus for me. However, I do wish the portion of nachos was a bit larger. For bowling, total win! Everything is new and clean. There are 32 lanes and everything is so spacious. The have waitresses to take care of you as well so you don't have to leave your lane. Does it get any better than 2 large pizzas, pitchers of cider and bowling with friends? haha, YES...afterwards you go play in the arcade, SCORE! The air hockey is my favorite arcade game with basketball falling close behind...they have both! The arcade is not that large which is cool but it was empty when we were there so I am not sure I would want to wait too long to play everything I wanted. They do have two air hockey tables though, score! I am VERY competitive (and loud) with Air hockey, soooo bring it on! So: Food: 3 stars Service: 3 stars Overall: 4 stars Entertainment Value: 5 stars

The Firkin & Kegler is a great place to go hang out and have a good time. They have the coolest lanes in Orlando by far. At the end of the lanes are 22' HD TV screens. They have a cool arcade, upstairs bar and pool tables, and a full restaurant. Great service, price & atmosphere. You can't beat it!

Located at the edge of a generic Target-Michaels-PetSmart plaza, this entertainment complex has a seemingly tame sports bar exterior, but step inside and enter a bowling alley on regal steroids. APPEARANCE - The typically dim lighting that follows bowling alleys are offset by the army of television screens. The entire back wall of the pins is created by large screens displaying commercials or sports-- slightly annoying because I didn't want to be sold to while playing, but you get used to it. I enjoyed how each lane already has an accompanying reserved table section to prevent territorial fights. Plus I bow down to the dark wood decoration and occasional red curtains. The ACTUAL bowling game was typical and at a normal price. (and the typical devil-may-care attitude that follows high school employees who act like they'd rather be playing WoW than working) FOR NON-BOWLERS -- Besides an abnormal design, bowling idiots (like me) can enjoy the mini restaurant leading the way to a second floor blocked off from the young'uns. Here you can chill by playing pool, partying at the bar, and people watch over the balcony. Although the drink bar looks well-stocked, on normal days, I recommend better and more food choices at the snack bar. Oh... despite my gushing over the bar and club, this is a great place for families... even a mini bowling area for recent toddlers.

While on a business trip in Orlando, my husband and I decided to venture out and find a local bowling alley. We were delighted to find Firkin and Keglers! I loved the feel of the place...The way it was decorated it reminded me of a few different pubs we've been to in Ireland and New York City! It was a Tuesday night and they had a decent sized crowd. There were two families with kids playing in the arcade (about 25-30 games with skeeball, basketball, driving games, big bass wheel, wheel of fortune and plenty of newer games for all ages) There were about15-20 college aged kids upstairs shooting pool and darts and a few on the dance floor... not really dancing but just having fun "practicing" their dance moves! There is a bar upstairs, a bar downstairs and a bar in the restaurant. That's right, this place has a full restaurant! We didn't eat but the menu looked good and served pub type food. Since it was Tuesday they had a few specials going on. We played 2 games for $2 each and the show rental was $2. They also had a $2 beer special but nothing my husband liked so he got a different beer and it was only $3. We checked out the snack bar... typical snack foods like nachos, candy, soda, etc... The place was clean, the restrooms were clean (in fact, while I was in there one of the staff members came in for a routine cleaning) All the staff we encountered were extremely nice and seemed like they wanted to help! It was a fun break from our conference and we will definitely be visiting Firkins the next time we are in town.

C'mon yelp, please give me a NO star option. This place definitely deserves it. I paid $400 for my kids to have a fun birthday party and it started with the shoe lady arguing with me, and one of our guests being told to leave due to his shirt. He was wearing a tank top, which okay, I get it; you don't want people to wear tank tops there. OH WAIT... that isn't it.. you don't want MEN wearing tank tops. We spotted 3 women wearing tank tops, one whose boobies were practically falling out. Oh, and shall I mention the one woman who was wearing a transparent shirt, yeah that just screams classy. So I go to the manager, Ted, and inquire as to why my guest was told to leave and these other people who were wearing clothes that no one should wear in public were allowed to stay. He told me that it was "up to them who was allowed to wear what" okay that seems odd but alright and then he proceeded to tell me that my guest was no longer allowed there because he had told Ted to "Fuck off" well, Ted, if that phrase was so offensive then why did you say it to me in front of my 5 year old. Good job. I will not be going back here and I suggest that if you want to go bowling and have a good time OR if you want to spend your money somewhere you will get good customer service go somewhere else. There were a multitude of problems with this place, lets recap: 1. The shoe lady argued with me about allowing my disabled son being able to use bumpers. 2. The manager, Ted, telling me "Fuck off" while I was holding my five year old. 3. When I booked the party I told the person on the phone, Ashley, that we had one child that was a vegetarian however when it was food time.. no vegetarian options and the poor kid had to wait. 4. We had to serve ourselves everything, the "attendant" did not really attend to anything. He was nice which was a plus since everyone else was rude. 5. If you have a dress code then enforce it across the board. If I want to see chunky chicks with their boobies hanging out I will go to Hooters and if I want to see a woman with bad taste in lingerie I will go to the strip club; both places without my kids. 6. Customer service - lack thereof. Take your money somewhere else unless you are into bad customer service, rude employees, and sexist dress codes.

Do not waste your time here -- AWFUL customer service! I wish I could give this place 0 stars! With the rules they have in place, they clearly don't want little kids in there, which is fine with me, but don't advertise as "family" entertainment! Just awful However it did lead us to KINGS BOWL on International Drive, which was great!!

    (4)
  • Marc V.

HELL YES!

I was a huge fan of this place when it had the comedy club upstairs. Apparently that shifted to the Boardwalk so I will be directing my business there. Still a nice place to meet up with friends at the bar, or get your bowling game on. I've had good times here but it was mostly to kill time before the comedy show so I have to say I won't be seeing much of it anymore. The food was never bad.

Worst customer service of any central Florida bowling alley... I am a combat wounded veteran and came with two other friends who also served overseas and were injured. We requested bumpers for my friend who lost his leg in Afghanistan. The manager refused, informing me that only children under 6 could use the bumpers. Instead he offered to let us use the ramp. My friend is capable of rolling the ball, the ramp offer is just insulting. He had no clue what ADA compliance was. Also beware, when bowling per hour your time starts when you pay, thus we lost 10 minutes putting on our shoes and finding balls. Boardwalk bowl charges $24 per hour on Friday nights while Firkin charges $45. Do yourself a favor and drive to Boardwalk Bowling Alley.

Pro tip: don't come on the weekend. if you have a day off during the week, head on over. There will be plenty of lanes and few drunken adults with their unsupervised children. But I hate coming here on weekends. It's just not fun! SO busy, SO dark and the lanes are WAY too oiled. I just wish this place was as good as it looks when you first walk in. Pretty soon you start to notice it's just a facade.....

First time here and only enjoyed the bowling. The bowling lanes are well set up, clean and overall an awesome atmosphere. The large screen TVs at the end of the lanes make it a little more interesting experience to be able to catch a game that is going on. Did have a slightly bad experience in that the waitress that was supposed to wait our lane never showed up and we had to chase her down 37 minutes into our hour bowling. This upset me a little considering the food wouldn't surely come out with lightning speed so I went tot he front desk to relay my frustration. I feel they gave me a "half-a$$" excuse in telling me that the waitress are not part of the bowling and only a convenience for the patrons (or something like that) ... I wasn't really sold and they gave me an extra 20-minutes - which is what I was looking for. So I got what I wanted, but the attitude was a bit off, but I am sure it was a long night and the lady didn't want to be there.

This place is alright I mean it use to be the place to go for a while in the ucf area but I have to be honest im all about splitzville now. I love the cute booths you can use while bowling but IF YOUR A COUPLE DO NOT GO TO BOWL. You just look weird bowling around a bunch of groups. You get a booth to yourself and its a place for groups not couples it looks awkward......sry just being real. (go to splitzville way fun!) Food- alright its typical ale house (sports bar) like food and appetizers. Drinks- nothing special here or at least I didn't think so. atmosphere- fun for a group if your a couple like me and my fiancé go upstairs and play pool and they also have a small bar up there which is nice and a little more intimate. Unlike dave and busters after hours you have to be 21 to get in and you get ID'ED and a wrist band when you walk in. Parking is fine don't worry Bring cash one of the waitresses lost my card...... turned a good night into a stressful call to my card company.(just a one time occurrence)

Is there even an option for zero starts here? The staff is uneducated, unprofessional and seem to know very little about manners. They refuse to put the bumpers for kids unless they are 6 or less. They get frustrated easily and their attitude is just plain shitty.

Enjoyed an evening at The Firkin and Kegler with friends for the first time. I haven't bowled since I was a small child, so it was fun to be reintroduced to the experience. My husband had been bowling at the Aloma bowling lanes with friends a few weeks back, so it was a good compare and contrast for him. The large space is divided up into a few difference areas. Entry level is the pub, arcade games, snack bar, bar and bowling lanes. Upstairs is all over 21 and has a large dance floor, bar and pool/darts that overlooks the first floor. This is nice, since the jumbo TV's over the bowling lanes can be easily viewed if it's crowded and the closer upstairs TV's are playing music videos instead of sports games. We bowled for a few hours, 2 couples. We were not talented, but had a great time and each of us made a few strikes, so we weren't complete bowling losers. That said, you can tell who the regulars are, holy cats! The scoring is automatic, nice selection of different weight bowling balls, shoe rentals were nice. (Shoes were new, clean and not gross.) The layout of the bowling seating areas is staggered, so the right side of the lane pair (sharing a console) is closer and the left lane is back. Nice to give everyone some space when the lanes are full, like they were when we were there. The jumbo TV's are great, they are 5 lanes wide so we could easily watch the Magic game and a hockey playoffs game a few lanes down. The bar service was nice, a server will take your order and you have the option of running a tab (give them your CC to hold) or cashing out by the round. Nice draft beer selections, good mix of premium and domestic beers. There are all kinds of beer and bowling specials during the week, so we'll be back. Hubby was very impressed with how nice everything was and the great selection of beers, not your typical bowling alley beers. Prices weren't bad, either. After "tearing it up" on the lanes we headed upstairs and played a few rounds of darts. Nice upstairs area, good pool tables and nice electronic dart boards. Again, you can pay at the bar with a tab (give them your CC to hold) or cash out by the round. The night we were here, there was no server, so it was get your drink by the bar. All in all, a fun night and a great place to watch any type of sporting event.

Firkin and Kegler is a neat bowling joint. The bowling area is cool looking with lots of big screens showing sports games and such. What I don't like is the seating arrangement. Every other lane has seats that are set further back and so you feel like your extra far from the lane. Plus, when you go to bowl you feel like your intruding in the next lanes space. It was a bit weird but not a huge deal. The food was actually pretty good. I had the Fish and Chips and I was also able to try a burger. Both meals were delicious and for a bowling joint, no complaints there. The arcade area is really small in my opinion, but they did have a few cool games and the classic skee ball games which everyone loves. Nice family place with friendly and helpful service.

My boyfriend and I had been here once before and enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was mid-week. Food was great, drink specials pretty good too. For this trip, we decided to bring the kids out for family game night. Unfortunately, tonight was a completely different animal. I understand it being a Saturday evening that it would be a little more hectic. Initially there was some sort of server mixup & they didn't quite know who should or would be serving our table. Once they figured it out we placed a fairly simple order of a pitcher of drink & an family-sized platter. Around 35 minutes later our server returned to inform us our food we be out shortly. After another 15 mins, a server showed up in our general area with a platter that he wasn't quite sure who it belonged to. He stopped at three tables before we had to flag him down and let him know it was ours. With food & drinks finally delivered we turned our attention back to the lanes. Yes, we actually got some bowling in. However, with a 6 & 3 yr old, they require bumpers. The unfortunate thing is they didn't work properly. Between not popping up when it was the little ones' turn to bowl, or having to pull them up by hand, or only being available on one side; we spent lots of time fetching stuck gutter balls. With two bored kids, one tween and two exasperated adults it did not make for a fun evening of family bowling. They did provide us with two $10 arcade cards where I will say it looks like they enjoyed themselves fully.

Have you guys been to the celebrity bowling alleys? Lucky Strike.. Well this is just like it! in central Fla.. you won't find another bowling alley like this one! Very Technological, lots of entertainment besides bowling, a premium bar with excellent service, beautiful cocktail waitresses taking care of you directly to your own table and lane, arcade, pool tables, poker, its own night club, glow in the dark bowling with large HD screens in front of you while you play. This is by far the best entertainment complex in central fla to hang you with all your friends and have a blast! I completely recommend it you won't be dissapointed, there's a reason why I have the Duke Crown so far !

I picked this place because of the location. Should of just went with board walk. We had some problems with the lanes, one time it ate all the balls and didn't want to give them back, my friend hit 9 pins and it said he had a strike? The lanes are very oily, and balls and shoes are so old and worn out. The place looks nice but can use a major remodel. It's dark in there I guess to hide all the wear and tear. I must say our server was good until the end. She told us the kitchen was closed at 11 so we ordered what we could. Then a cook came out at like midnight and asked us for last call on food. Wow, look I work in the hospitality industry also and if you want to go home cause your cut, just say so. Now another thing is that this place is nice looking, not like an old run down bowling alley, I would think the people that worked there would look more decent. Our server wore her hoodie around her hips, basketball looking shorts and her hair was a hot mess. The two guys at the front desk looked like father and son, old guy had no clue what was going on half the time. Managers/owners were sitting at the bar watching the game instead of walking around. Oh yeah, the deal breaker was when they don't accept $100 bills?!?!? Okay well I guess you don't want to make money. Never going back. Board walk had nicer people, clean lanes, and a lot less pricey.

If you can't find something to do in this place it's your own fault. Let's see, they've got regular and mini-pin bowling, air hockey, pool, a full bar, decent bar food, dozens of big screen TVs, music and a nightclub (though, I've never been up there, having been way too busy with bowling). And when I say bowling I mean the entire place is one big alley, with digital displays and ginormous screens above the pins. I've been happy with the bar, too. Most of the bartenders are cool, and they pour a good drinks, after you show them some love of course. They have a surprising variety of alcohol and beers. They have pretty decent specials for groups, too. Last time there we had a group of 10. With our special wristbands, our food was a dollar and (I believe) we got pitcher specials also. We requested the last lanes and proceeded to frolic all night! If you're in the UCF/Waterford Lakes area, this place is super convenient: right off Alafaya and the 417. Coming from Mt Dora it's a hike, but for as much fun as we've had, worth it :)

This is a smaller version of Dave & Busters on the east side of Orlando. The bowling is pretty pricey, but the atmosphere is definitely nicer than most bowling alleys. They have huge televisions and posh seating areas. My favorite part of the whole place is the upstairs bar. In addition to a nice bar, they have a couple pool tables, dartboards, and even a dance floor.

First thing to know about F&K is that if you are a serious bowler, DO NOT GO HERE. With that said, from an entertainment viewpoint this place is AWESOME. Full bar, tons of TVs, projector screens, billiards, arcade games, etc. There is literally everything you've ever wanted in a bowling alley in this place. I loved the fact that I could watch the NFL playoffs, NCAA basketball, and SC all at once. HOWEVER with the layout of the booths I found it hard to get a good view majority of the time because the even booths were blocking the view of the odd booths. It made it really uncomfortable and it made my group feel resentment towards the other booth. It got to a point where I could cheer on my group of friends because I couldn't see our lane. Which really put a damper on the bowling because we as a whole became more conversational and less focused on the bowling. Another problem we came across is that some of the serious bowlers, including myself, were annoyed that we couldn't see the lane and lane markers with all the graphics covering it. Plus they wouldn't put up the bumpers for anyone over the age of 6 so it made it really not fun for the kid who was 8 in our group. So overall I've learned this: 1) If I want to watch a game, hangout, and drink while ppl bowl F&K is the place 2) Although it has a youth vibe, it's not exactly kid friendly 3)If I really want to bowl, I'll go somewhere else.

Firkin and Kegler puts a modern spin on bowling. The building is gorgeous and the concept is cool. This is not your parent's bowling alley! When you first walk in there is kiddie bowling to your right with short lanes and tiny balls for tots. There is a restaurant to the left and arcade past that. Upstairs are pool tables and dart boards. In the back is the expansive bowling area. The place is kind of dark with black lights and HUGE projection screens lining the wall above the pins. Music is loud, to the point you're raising your voice to be heard. Here are some critiques: Separate areas for adults only. I went on Saturday afternoon and you have families with kids right next to college aged Jersey shore wannabes. Then you have a child's birthday party next to groups of people slamming beer and doing shots (on a Saturday afternoon!!). It's a weird mix. Have an adult only section close to the bar. Service sucked. My son's ball got stuck and it took way too long for it to be freed. We pushed the maintenance button, help button and went to the desk twice before someone helped us. Don't come here if you're serious about bowling. Several in our group had shoe issues. They stuck to the floor and caused you to do a weird hop just before releasing the ball. The gutter guards failed to pop into place when it was my son's turn and we had to manually wrench them into place. See service comment above. Arcade was small and required you to get a card to play any games. I didn't even see where to get a card or how much any of the games were. All in all I liked the place and would come back. There is tons to do and lots of people here doing it. The place was jam packed. Would be fun to come back with a group.

-Ok bro ok

Really underwhelmed. We came here to check out the pool tables- they need to be leveled and re-felted. The cues were also in poor shape. The arcade below is okay, but pretty small. Won't be returning.

We have two visits here so far. My family loves going here. Tons of lanes, arcade for the kids, Good food and a full liquor bar for the adults. I hear there is a dance club upstairs at night but I haven't been there without the kids yet. Good family fun. We'll be back

This place is NICE! I wish it was closer to home... Very cool atmosphere, nice bowling area, HUGE TVs ( my hubby loved these), All other kinds of games. Full bar, and food too! It has that mature look for grown ups and I enjoy that. Go and check it out!

We have two visits here so far. My family loves going here. Tons of lanes, arcade for the kids, Good food and a full liquor bar for the adults. I hear there is a dance club upstairs at night but I haven't been there without the kids yet. Good family fun. We'll be back

Is there even an option for zero starts here? The staff is uneducated, unprofessional and seem to know very little about manners. They refuse to put the bumpers for kids unless they are 6 or less. They get frustrated easily and their attitude is just plain shitty.

-Ok bro ok
