This review is just based on their "Maryland Steamed Crabs." I didn't have any other menu items. I am from Maryland and know some true, authentic Maryland crabs. I've eaten them all my life, and now as an adult I eat them whenever I visit home. I called Crab Stop to ask how "Maryland style" theirs really are, since many places claim that but are far from it! The gentleman told me he was from Virginia and knew how to make them. I ordered 2 dozen large ($52/dozen) and picked them up. Here's the good & bad: GOOD: - The flavors & seasonings were spot on. - Each crab had 2 claws attached - All male crabs BAD: - Every single crab was extremely light; many crabs had virtually no meat in them. No kidding. Some crabs went right into the garbage upon opening, as there was NOTHING in them. Total waste. - The meat that WAS in the crabs was mushy. Every single crab. I realize it's tough to get good Maryland steamed crabs in Florida. But at $52/dozen, I would have expected more. We got very little crab meat from each crab; even the claws had only a tiny piece coming out. I spent $104 for virtually nothing. In normal circumstances I would have returned them after opening the first few, and picking up the rest to see how light they all were. But they did have a sign at the restaurant that all sales were final; we were responsible for examining our food before leaving. I did look at them, but didn't lift to see if they had any weight unfortunately. If you order Maryland crabs from there, PLEASE don't go by sight alone. Pick up the crabs to see if there is any meat in them!

My family and I just ate a The Crab Stop and it was one of the best crab spots in Orlando. We now have a favorite crab restaurant in Orlando. The customer service is out of this world. The husband and wife owners were so friendly and kind. We will make it a point to come back to this establishment when visiting Orlando. Thank you so much for a great meal. Can't wait to come back!!!!! Thanks again, The Luu Family!!!!!

The food here was amazing. I purchased a Groupon giving me a 40$ value for the price of 22$. The food was good the lady that helped me and my sister was very friendly and personable. I liked her service and attention to our order following up with us about how soon it was going to be ready. I went beast mode on that crab it didn't see what was coming.

Be advised. They serve stale crabs in tiny portioned that are overpriced. I ordered 1lb king crab ($30) and 1lb snow crab ($22) for a takeout order. They gave me two king crab legs. Far less than 1lb I paid for. When I called back, the lady on the phone stated that they give two bulbs for 1lb, not two legs. She insisted that I had gotten more. The snow crab order was also less than 1lb, but not as ridiculously small portioned as the king crab order. Snow crab legs were so old that the shells started to look translucent and gotten soft. The meat was stuck dry to the shells. Both king crab and snow crab were soaked in sauce to hide the old stale taste. I guess they choose to prey on tourists instead of building a loyal customer base.

A hole in the wall kinda place. Really nice owner. I called and told him it was my birthday and asked if my parents and I could eat in and he said sure (although most patrons get take out). We arrived and he pulled out a table and chairs which was set up nicely. Best crabs! We ordered the Bruton special. No regrets!

Worst service I've ever experienced in my life... attempted to call the location starting at 845. She picks up the phone saying hello... no introduction, no identifying that I'm calling a business. I then ask her about the menu. She puts me on hold for 10 minutes and doesn't come back. I hang up call again, and she doesn't even speak to me. She picks up the phone and for 2 minutes she is talking to someone else. I say hello you never came back. She replies "what do you want?" I laugh at her response and hang up and go to the store to see who I'm dealing with. As soon as I walk in (30 minutes before closing time) she says she's not taking any more orders. I tell her I've been trying to order for 45 minutes. She then starts getting upset and telling me that she tried taking my order but she was dealing with "another irate customer." I said with the attitude you gave me on the phone I can see, why you have other irate customers. She then starts yelling at me as I walk out and follows me out telling me she made 20,000 dollars today. She repeats it 5-6 times yelling at me in the parking lot. What I find hard to believe is that at 50 dollars an order, that means she had 400 orders today... in a hole in the wall, crummy establishment that refuses to take orders and closes it's doors at 930 when their sign says 11!!!!! That's how most businesses that are doing a lot of business operate! !! Never going back. And writing a review on EVERY website possible.

If you told me delicious garlic crabs could be had from a gas station in Central Florida, I wouldn't believe you, but that's what's going on at the Crab Stop. This place is a closet located next to a 7-11 that sells gas. It's run by a mother-daughter tag team who "have been cooking crabs my whole life." We bought the Poor Jimmy, which was 6 large garlic crabs and 6 shrimp, and it was great. We had to take the crabs home in a large aluminum pan, because this place has no seating. You just walk up, order, and walk out. It takes about 15 mins to cook the crabs, but fortunately for you, there's a conveniently located gas station and 7-11 next door, so you can walk away with gasoline, Twinkies, and crabs. I love America!

Super salty, garlicky crabs, shrimp, potatoes and corn swimming in buttery garlic sauce - what's not to like?!! Also the guy at the counter was extremely friendly.

I'm going to preface this by stating that I grew up in the Northeast, so Maryland crabs are THE bees knees to me. I needed 2 dozen whole crabs in Old Bay spice for my birthday and though Crab Stop usually breaks the crabs for you, I wanted to do it myself. After an easy phone call about 2-3 days before to ensure they could get what I wanted, Crab Stop got my crabs and cooked them to perfection! They came with bowls of butter- and were DELICIOUS. I licked the pan and ate more crabs than everyone else combined. YUM.

Food wasn't that great, especially for the price. Which was apparently raised, even though the menu they had on hand said otherwise... I would go back if a friend really wanted to have crab, otherwise, I'm hitting up joes crab shack instead.

Details: 1) Its a takeout joint 2) It maybe in a questionable neighborhood 3) Folks in there might scare you a bit but don't judge a book by its cover 4) For those of you sick and tired of all that chain restaurant, frozen seafood crap that is all around you in Orlando, give this place a try. Garlic seasoning is the way to go!

Best Orlando experience ever! The guy that owns the place is super nice and it was a refreshing break from the usual Orlando experience. Did not know it was a walk up and take away crab experience before we got there and the owner was super nice and let us eat our lunch in the waiting area. The crab legs were to die for at an awesome price and the atmosphere was much more interesting then you would expect. I highly suggest!

Originally from Baltimore, I love this place. Best MD style crabs. I find the pre-cleaned crabs in trays a little weird but other than that, the setup is just like home. You go to a tiny place a get awesome crabs to take home.

Almost as good as the ones we get in Jacksonville. Good crabs, cleaned and seasoned well. Average to slightly above average pricing. Owner has some crazy rules, e.g., we wanted a dozen large crabs and they only had 6, so we said "fine and we'll take the other 1/2 dozen as mediums." They said they had to charge us for 2x1/2 dozen price, which is significantly higher than the dozen price. Go figure! Hnina's in Sanford has much better crabs and that's our spot now.

Throw a great party! Grab a pan full of love, from the ladies at the crab stop. Surf and Gas! Place your order then fill you car with gas or check your tire pressure. This place is terrific and a great value for seafood lovers. Why not feast on the go Orlando? It tastes fresh and delicious with a wonderful menu. The crab here is really good, this is a hidden gem.

Disclaimer: I am a Maryland boy. As such, the term 'good' in the context of crab means one thing: bushels of steamed Maryland blue crab covered in massive heaps of Old Bay seasoning. These people sell good, good, GOOD crab. The prices are what you'd expect for massive quantities of seafood, but it's not bad. Also, the location is the weirdest place I've ever seen. It's kind of tacked onto a gas station on the corner of LB McLeod and Kirkman. This isn't really a restaurant, either, you just go in (or call them if you know what you want!) and pick up a white-hot tinfoil package filled with those lovely little gems of the sea, all steamed and waiting for you to crack open their carapaces and find their delicious crab-secrets. While I'm unabashedly biased towards the Maryland blues and their traditional preparation, I've strayed from the path here and then with delicious results. The snow and king crab legs are excellent quality, and I would definitely recommend the garlic flavoring, but only if you're not going on a date for a couple days, because it's pretty much the essence of garlic. A small price to pay for a taste of that succulent crabmeat soaked in that intensely amazing aroma, though. They occasionally have different shellfish on the menu, but I've never strayed from the crab as it's what they do best. This would be 5 stars, but I kind of wish it'd have a place to sit and eat, even if it was just a picnic table with freakin' newspaper on it, cause taking all that crab home inevitably turns into a scary, smelly mess that's powerful enough to attract stray cats. Still, it's a minor inconvenience and the food is a wonderful, authentic taste from my childhood memories.

Very garlicky and yummy crabs!! Conch fritters are one big fritter. We prefer the little fried bally ones. Will probably get it again.

when i found this place on yelp i was sooooooooo excited because i have not been able to find quality blue crabs since i moved from southern florida several years ago. i am saddened to say that i was very disappointed. they use just garlic powder and oil and the garlic powder is caked onto the crab much like a batter of some sort. its way too much and doesn't provide a great flavor. the crabs are no fresh a few of mine were completely rotten and inedible. i spent $40 on a dozen tiny crabs and it was a complete waste. the only positive thing about this place and that the woman behind the counter was very pleasant, all else was a bust! my garlic crab journey continues because i will not be returning here...
