This is the second best place to eat at the JW Marriott Orlando, with Kitchen being #1. Kitchen was not open for lunch, so we headed here. Service was great. They let us order off the lunch menu 30 minutes early. My grouper sandwich was good, their fries are very tasty. Wings are a pass says a colleague.

Went here for Mother's Day brunch last year and it was AMAZING. However, I wasn't paying so that probably helped. WAAYYYYYYY pricey so be prepared for that.

I love the breakfast buffet! Get variety of items. My kids really enjoyed the chocolate chip pancakes and muffin/donut options. The omelettes made to order are great! The food is fresh, hot & tasty. I wish I could wake up to this everyday.

My brother and I just wanted to check out the Ritz and JW. We stopped here for French onion soup. The best I've had so far! cheesy and rich with flavor. The best part it was filled with tons of onions. I really enjoy the cheese and beefy broth. Served with heated rolls. The server was cute and super nice!

Breakfast was excellent, it had a very nice spread. Many options and items all freshly made. Not to mention that breakfast was free for both of us, the rooms were pretty cheap for a JW Marriott. Their smoked salmon was so delicious and the fresh fruit was perfectly ripened. Would love to go back when in the area and eat there even if not staying at the hotel. It was really that good!

Fantastic dining in Orlando!! Our server, Patrick was a gem, very polite and extremely attentive! The martini's were chilled and shaken perfectly! Great put by the bartender! Our meal began with the Jumbo Crab Cakes $18. AMAZING! Best Crab Cakes I've had in a long time! Fresh crab, perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the citrus aioli was divine! Next we had the Filet with roasted vegetables. Again, AMAZING! Cooked to perfection! The steak was tender and moist, perfectly cooked to our asking and the baby carrots, fingerling potatoes and broccoli rabe was devoured by myself and my teenager. We gladly were members of the clean plate club! Kudos to the chef and the staff at Citron and thank you for a fantastic meal!

We were staying at the JW and decided to go here for brunch. Brunch was something like 28 dollars/person which is pretty standard now a days for a brunch buffet. The only things I ever get at a brunch buffet are -pancakes/waffles -an omelet I know I know, they have other stuff... Well call me old fashioned but fruit is not a breakfast item, its a garnish. And I love bacon, but a giant vat of bacon sitting under a heat lamp for 5 hours is an insult to the pig. So all that stuff was at the buffet, I have no idea if it was any good. The Pancakes These were actually ok- they make them fresh to order instead of in a trough. This slows things down a bit but I am more than willing to allow it in service of getting better pancakes. My one complaint about the pancakes is that the butter they have is chilled on ice making it little bricks impossible to spread over a pancake. Rookie mistake Waffles They are the mini waffles that come out 4 at a time from a waffle press. Were great. Syrup I will say the syrup was somewhat lacking. When I get syrup I either want like Log Cabin style sugar death or I want actual real Maple syrup. This was one of those in between fancy things that was pretty meh French Toast I usually never get french toast in restaurants even though I love it because they put way too much cinnamon in it. I tried it here, it was a mistake. The omelet They had a good amount of choices for mix ins and the dude running the omelet station new his craft- cooked the ingredients first, then the egg. Didn't overcook it. All in all its expensive but a decent brunch.

Just had the breakfast buffet at the Citron at the JW Marriott grande Lakes oh my goodness! It is so awesome words can't describe it I wish I could have that every day of course that would be too much!

My wife and I ate here for breakfast on one day during our trip and have to say it's exactly what you'd expect from a JW Marriott; it's a higher end dining experience, even for a breakfast buffet. It's a little on the pricey side at $27 but it's definitely worth it. The restaurant itself is updated and nicely decorated but at the same time it's a comfortable place to eat. The buffet has all of your normal stations, pastries, pre-made eggs, eggs made to order, cereals, etc... The big difference is the quality of food. They set the bar high for themselves and achieve it with their flexibility and quality. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a spot to eat, but bring your appetite.

Just finished dinner here, and I must say I was expecting average but we got great! The food was very good, I would say 4 star, but the server (Lester I think was his name) was fabulous! I give him 6 stars even though 5 is the most. Best server I've had in recent memory.

Our friends were staying at the JW Marriott, so we thought we'd try out a restaurant at their hotel. I was a little disappointed that the only thing the server recommended was the buffet. Only after I asked if there was a menu did he show us the menus on the middle of our table. They were out of several wines so I opted for a cosmo, which was very good. I ended up getting the salmon for dinner and really enjoyed it! Since one person at our table had the buffet, we all were able to get dessert from there... they were decent (but I'm a self admitted dessert snob). If I was staying at this hotel, I would probably eat here again for convenience. Otherwise, I would not go out of my way to eat there again.

While it may be located in a JW Marriott, everything about screams same old Marriott food you'd expect. The décor is oversized and underwhelming. It felt dirty when we entered by the simple fact that where they sat us, we were literally surrounded by about a half a dozen un-bussed tables. Then, of course there's a buffet, which is overpriced and nothing special. So we tried to be clever and ordered a la carte- which turned out to be a la pointless, because the food was basically the same shit they serve in buffet bins. For example, I had the eggs benny, coming HIGHLY recommended by our waiter who said it was the best thing on the menu. Eggs from farm raised chickens, country ham from their own pigs, etc... Now, I warned him that I am a bit picky about my eggs benny, but he assured me it was amazing... Well, as you can probably guess from the one star, it was just about the WORST eggs benny I have ever had. It tasted like it was a frozen Weight Watchers dish reheated. Seriously. Freezer burn was definitely the predominant flavor. The only saving graces were the home fries and the fact that the eggs were runny, as they should be. But so disgusting I would've sent them back had I not been in a rush. The other thing we got were the Belgian waffles which I was assured were good by my mother, but from the looks of them I was skeptical and decided to cut my loses until later when I grabbed a KIND bar to eat, just to get the taste of freezer burn out of my mouth.

Very good food and service, better than typical offerings at hotels. They even make items not listed on the menu, e.g., what is listed on web but not on menu paper. Nice place. Went to eat there two days in a row. Fries are very good. Food made with great care.

I had the Thanksgiving buffet here. It was $70 a head and was one of the most expensive meals I had ever purchased. I'm pleased to say that it was one of the nicest meals I had ever eaten. The meal was buffet style with plenty of options: traditional turkey and gravy, plus the non-traditional items: sushi, crab, duck, and shrimp cocktail. I look forward to returning in the future!

Ordered to go. I got the jumbo lump crab cakes. Of course it was not like a Maryland. Crab Cake but, hey it was pretty good for Florida just a little too much filler. I was also able to get some mint chocolate chip ice cream to go also for $24.00, A little pricey but, I was on a short vacation. I didn't care and yes I would return.

We were guests at the Ritz Carlton that is adjacent to this property and dining at this restaurant was the worst experience of our entire trip. We had reservations for 8 people on a Friday night. We were pleasantly greeted by the hostess, and shown to our table. The table was so large - it was about 5-6 feet across, which made it nearly impossible to speak to other people. The restaurant was fairly empty for 8pm on a Friday, and there were tons of other options they could have chosen. Our server was friendly and promptly took our orders. We waited over an hour for any food to be delivered. When we inquired the first time, it was "coming right up," then the second time, it was, "let me grab that for you," finally the server came back and said there were "2 tickets ahead of our table." 2 tickets?? The restaurant was empty and we'd been there forever! Honestly, at that point, we were already at an hour wait time and should have just left and ordered room service, but we were tired and had 3 kids with us. When the food finally did arrive - everything was wrong. The filet was so hard no one could eat it, sides were missing, the pork was undercooked, all 3 of the kid's meals were wrong, etc. It was a disaster. We were so nice to the server, but we had to point out that things were missing - items were over and undercooked, etc. The only thing he offered to do was bring us the missing items. None of the adults ate their food, and the server never offered to rectify the situation. The server was nice, but not at all attentive. We were out $300 and the gratuity was already included. We asked to speak to the manager, but she never came. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. So disappointing.

How do I say it? Nevermind! Yelp took care of that for me "Woohoo! As good as it gets! How is that you ask? Well, let me ask a question to you. I am sure many of you if not the vast majority has been to some type of dinner function, you know the large 50+ people dinners where your food is a set menu of two choices only to come out via heat lamp being dry, limp, pasty, crappy, and looking like a left over Swanson TV Dinner? God knows I have and with this I am very picky on ratings. Citron, An American Brasserie located in the JW Marriott downstairs deserves this write up. On the 13th we hosted a Managers Meeting with our reservations at Citron. 62 people was the guest list, yes 62. We had the back room with 4 very long tables of hungry people of that 90% guys, 100% chow hounds. Our menu was set, had to be, with a choice of NY Strip or Grouper, a salad, and desert of bread pudding or creme brulee. Also, a choice of wine, beer, tea, water, coffee, etc. Test 1: Wine: Being the common-sewer of Malbec Wine I asked for a 2009 Catena Malbec. Did they have it? Yes they did!!!! 5 Stars!! This is not a wine that you find everywhere. Test 2: The fixed menu salad was a fruity type featuring a sliced grapefruit (puke) I hate Grapefruit with a passion. Waitperson, would you have a good Caesar with extra anchovies in place of Pukey Grapefruit? Yes they did!!!! 5 stars and good too. Test 3: Dinner, Oh Lord! 60+ people, fixed menu, here comes rubber!!! Nope!!! Did they serve all steaks cooked as ordered, still hot, perfect temperatures. Did they cook the Grouper just right, still hot, perfect temperature? Why Yes they did!!!! 5 Stars Every person in the room was talking about this! Not one person with a negative comment. Test 4: Dessert. One word as I am still on my diet and do not eat dessert. OK, maybe I did make up for it with a half dozen Malbec's. :-) All were very happy with this item Test 5: Service. As you know Orlando can be hit or miss, here it was spot on. Excellent service, very happy people, everyone with a full smile. Totally spot on! Yes, I have been to Citron before with my wife, small parties, and alone on business staying at the hotel. Each time has been good, thus my return and an attempt at a full scale business banquet. After close to 30 years in this business, on the road, being part of and hosting business dinners, I can actually say this location and the experience had rates in the very top 3 ever. Darn Good Job Citron! Darn Good Job!! Same time next year!

Really solid for a main hotel restaurant. It is the ideal place to take the kids for any meal of the day. They specialize in kids, so get ready for a very good family meal. The real good stuff: -The service is fantastic and the people are really good with kids -Very good bread -They make good martinis - very helpful when managing the kids -Large plates, easy to share -Great onion soup -Lots of kids meal choices Overall, thank you for a great meal and taking great care of the family.

we made a reservation a half hour before as the hotel was using the other restaurants for convention events. The shrimp and grits, club sandwich, salmon salad and onion soups were all very good.

We recently stayed at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes for a weekend getaway with my sister's family and my parents. Having 5 kids between us, we didn't anticipate any adult time; however, it turned out that we had an evening to ourselves. At the last minute, we tried to book a Saturday night reservation at one of the upscale dining facilities on-site (or at the Ritz next door) but there were no reservations available. The only restaurant with available seating was Citron, so we perused the menu and made a reservation. I added a note to the reservation stating that we were celebrating a special occasion (a birthday). Although we were greeted enthusiastically by the host/hostesses, who even commented on our plans to celebrate a birthday, my initial impression upon our arrival was disappointment. The restaurant was not what I expected, as it had a buffet featured near the front (though in fairness, the buffet had a "classy" appearance rather than the typical buffet look). The hostess, however, indicated that they had a special area reserved for us and took us to the rear of the restaurant to a private room overlooking a garden. We were all quite pleased with the location. The menu was somewhat limited, though options ranged from burgers to filet mignon. The restaurant also offered the aforementioned buffet which featured a very nice salad bar, 3 main dishes (1 beef, 1 chicken, 1 fish option), several sides, artisinal breads, and desserts for around $25. Only one of us selected the buffet but he was quite pleased with the offerings. Everyone else enjoyed their menu selections as well. The service was very good, our waitress was attentive and prompt. The highlight of the evening, however, was a sweet surprise at the end of our meal. Not only did Citron provide the birthday girl with a full-sized brownie sundae complete with caramelized bananas and homemade marshmallows, they also presented a selection of mini desserts from the pastry kitchen at the Ritz-Carlton! Included were pecan pie, pineapple cake, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate cake. Each was absolutely delicious. We were all very charmed by this special and unexpected treat!

Always a good choice when staying at this hotel or when in the area. The food is good and the service is even better. The soups are so good, I was happy that it was a gray day that felt "soup worthy" just so I could have some. Today it was clam chowder with big pieces of clam and very rich and creamy. They have changed the menu since my last visit and I like that there are small starter plates like chacuterie to begin with. There are also a range of salads (try the Nicoise) and of course, plenty of sandwiches to choose from. Always my first stop after getting to my hotel when visiting Orlando.

Been there 3 times for breakfast. Their buffet is great, and their omellet station is even better but the service was terrible the last time we went there. The waitress didn't show up to bring us coffee and juice until 15 minutes later. :-(

After a very long day at Universal, my girlfriend & I were starving when we returned to the hotel. We approached the restaurant thinking we would be turned away because they were closing in fifteen minutes. To our surprise the hostess was very friendly & told us to enjoy our meal & not to worry about the time. We asked to be seated outside on the patio since the weather was gorgeous. Our waiter was very helpful in answering our questions regarding the menu. Within minutes my girlfriend had a delicious glass of wine in her hand & I had my iced water with lemon. A basket of fresh piping hot rolls were delivered to our table. They were hot, soft and just so good. We decided to share two appetizers for our meal. We chose the crab cakes & the mushroom flat bread. The crab cakes (2) were all crab with very little (if any) filler. I am very picky about crab cakes & these were the best I have ever had. The mushroom flat bread was topped with loads of delicious mushrooms and a cheese very similar to ricotta. What a great combination. It was incredible. Even though it was late our waiter did not rush us in any way. I would definitely recommend Citron to anyone seeking a great food & excellent service. I cant wait to go back next time I am in Orlando.

The front of the house were not too sharp. THey seated us near a working door when the winds were over 20MPH, so every time the door opened, we would get a huge blast of air. We asked to be moved and they seated us one table down (the restaurant was empty by the way). We finally just picked a table far away from the door and ordered. The food is overrated and the prices are too high for what you get. The burger was okay but nothing special. You're pretty much stuck if you're at the marriott, so this may be the cheapest place to eat.

Dined at CITRON for NYE 2012. I must say the buffet selection and presentation was top notch. A truly diverse menu, and an amazing dessert bar with myriad choices. Our server was quite friendly, and the midnight fireworks show was a perfect way to ring in 2013.

Quiet place to get a bite in a usually hectic hotel. I really like the breakfast sandwich and they have a nice, well-rounded lunch menu.

The JW Marriott at Grandlakes is one of my BF's and my favorite place to go on vacation or for a conference. We went for a week recently and had a great package which included breakfast every day, even Sunday. However, they did stop serving the great buffet on Sat and Sunday as not enough people were coming to make it profitable. Regardless, they have a good breakfast buffet. Incredible fresh types of artisan bread, large variety of freshly cut fruit, including blueberries, mango, papaya, 3 types of melon. chef's quiche of the day. made to oreder waffles, pancakes (micley mouse for the kids) . Just really a nice brunch. The lunch and dinner items are limited, but what they do offer are good. Sometimes there is a snag (my grilled fish with a shaved truffle sauce was missing the truffle and the server asked me if it really mattered? Yes for $30 fo a piece of fish, it did matter- that was what I was paying for). The service is excellent and they get to know you after just one day there in terms of what you want to drink, etc. Definitely worth the trip!

Holy crap. Someone can make a portabella burger without turning it into a soggy mess! Color me impressed. So impressed, in fact, that even though I like to order a different thing every day when I'm staying someplace out of town, I ordered the portabella burger (sandwich, really) twice. I know it's obnoxious to compare a vegetarian dish to meat--but this ate like a much heavier hamburger--you didn't miss the "meatyness" of a burger. Yes. Meatyness. Now a word. It was also well-flavored with roasted peppers (a little bit of a kick here, folks) and immoderate amounts of cheese. The breakfast buffet is vast. It's on the pricier side (welcome to hotel dining), but it has a TON of variety and selection. Hello multiple varieties of sausage, smoked salmon AND beef carpaccio. My philosophy on in-the-hotel restaurants is always; hope for the best, expect the worst. However, this is actually someplace I would go to eat if I *weren't* staying in the J.W. Marriott. And that's saying something.

I came here for breakfast and dinner, twice. Some thoughts: -breakfast is packed with a good atmosphere but service is really slow -their steel cut oats are REALLY delicious (yes, i get excited over oatmeal), and if you've ever prepared steel cut oatmeal, it isn't the easiest thing to get right. consistency is really soft and creamy. -egg white omelet is a little pathetic and loaded with entirely too much cheese. the roasted seasoned tomatoes on the side are a lovely touch though -dinner atmosphere is completely dead -they will relentlessly under-cook your steak, even if you send it back to cook a little more. they will bring it our medium-rare no matter what you ask for. some of the people at our table were turned off with just how much it was undercooked. they just couldn't get it right. -salmon flaked arugula salad is good - straightforward and really clean -scallops entree is absolutely delicious, but extremely salty -they have amazing fries Overall, it's 2-3 stars, not my favorite dining option at the JW Marriott, but really friendly service.

I am basing this review on a lunch and a breakfast buffet experience. Lunch menu was usual sandwiches and burgers kinda stuff. But the cuban s/w I had....mmmm...it boasted some of the most flavorful and moist pulled pork I've ever had. The breakfast buffet was really good. The spread was very large with stations for made-to-order omlettes, waffles, and pancakes. The toppings available for waffles etc were the real differentiators in my mind. Finally, the surprise was the dessert station. Fresh muffins and pastries abound. The blueberry muffin and the carrot cake I had were some of the best I've ever had. Definitely recommended!

This place does the job. The food is good, the service is good. There's nothing special about it, but also nothing wrong or bad about it either. If you're looking for a decent, even good meal, then you can't go wrong at Citron. I had both breakfast and dinner there.

  • Tamara B.

The breakfast buffet is a splurge at $26 but the offerings are worth it. Bread and bagel area as soon as you walk in with an assortment of bagels, breads, muffins, butter, jams, honey and enough for a carb overload. The fruit/yoghurt area was also amazing, though the mangos were a week away from being ripe and the kiwis were ripe last week. Berries, melon, grapefruit were perfect and the honey/yoghurt dressing was a nice addition. Next hot dishes - Eggs Benedict that was fresh and looked delicious. Chicken sausage, pork sausage and Applewood bacon (kudos, it was extra crispy) were the meat selections and then a great looking egg fritata with peppers. Complete lox and smoked fish section with capers, raw onion, tomatoes, egg whites, yolks, and mustard. Had the lox and the smoked salmon and it was good and fresh with the capers. Next is the "cook your own" station where Louis will make an omelette, eggs, pancakes or waffles. I had a spinach, feta and asparagus omelette that was perfect including the showmanship "flip in the pan" The pancakes looked perfect as well and to the right was a line of toppings, syrups, whipped cream and all other yummy treats to add 500 calories to your pancake. Incredible service, bright airy room and we savoured every moment. Breakfast was amazing....

My wife and I spent a week at the Grand Lakes Ritz and decided to venture over to the JW to try some of the onsite dining. Citron is the casual, laid back restaurant you like to find when on vacation. Its a relaxing atmosphere and the food is excellent. We sat outside on a fall evening facing the beautiful landscape surrounded by palm trees, tropical flowers, and tiki torches. You can listen to the fountains and waterfalls all around you. Yums: + 4x4 Onion Soup (one of the best i have ever had) + Great wine selection at reasonable prices + Gourmet Burgers ( Wisconsin Blue Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Roma bun or Tillamook Cheddar, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Roma bun or Gruyere, Caramelized Onions, Toasted Rye) + Fresh cut fries + A complimentary specialty dessert for my birthday Letdowns: None Pricing: Moderate Atmosphere: casual, comfortable, outdoor seating Dress: resort casual Service: great, attentive Food: A Parking: Resort guest or valet Wait: Make reservations, probably none during lunch Overall Grade: A

I had breakfast here every morning while I was staying at the JW Marriott. I don't have a single complaint. Everything from the employees to the food was superb. All of the food was fresh and tasted fantastic. They had all kinds of fruits, breads, bacon, sausage, cereal, breakfast potatos, oatmeal, and they can make you an omlette, waffles, french toast, and pancakes. Their buffet had so much variety that I never ate the same meal twice. Our waitress was extremely nice. We sat with her all three days and after the first day she remembered all of our drink orders as well as other special requests. If you're staying at the hotel or are somewhere close by I would definitely suggest going there for breakfast one morning. You won't leave disappointed.

Swing and a miss. Arrived 40 minutes before end of service and were immediately seated in a mostly empty restaurant. Service was prompt and pleasant. We ordered from a limited menu and chose crab cakes, Florida chop salad and a club sandwich with fries. The salads and club arrived vey quickly - about 4 or 5 minues after ordering at the most. Ordinaily a good thing but these mains arrived before the beers we ordered and the Crab cake appetizer. Also the club had been refrigerated and was presented cold, as were the fries. I sat and waited for the server who did not reappear. Several minutes later a runner arrived with the crab cakes. I advised him the fries were stone cold and we were still waiting on the beers. He returned with slightly warmer fries and the server reappeared with beers, which she comped. From a food perspective the crab cakes were bland and salty, the chop salad was flavourfull and refreshing and the club was pretty routine. The messge here seems to be to avoid arriving just before closing. The club seemed to have been prepared earlier and left in a cooler and the fries were likely resting under a heat lamp, and when represented they were only slightly warmer. They had not been prepared fresh after my complaint. I chose to offer 3 stars, as I had breakfast here earlier in my stay and enjoyed the rustic breads, fresh fuits and made to order omlettes. Based on my experience this is a better breakfast choice than a place to grab a quick snack before closing.

grabbed a late lunch here with two coworkers after checking into our rooms at the jw. service was a little slow, but the food was pretty good. we ordered: - french onion soup & wedge salad - there were no complaints here. i have to admit, i had a little bit of food envy seeing it. - classic club - a formidable size, but my coworker lamented there wasn't enough bacon, which is why she ordered it. - pulled pork panini - very good, but messy. the accompanying chips tasted a little too much like fried wontons for me. all in all, a decent meal at a pretty moderate price, considering it's inside the hotel. it was a little too windy to sit outside that day, but the ambiance inside was casual and clean. there was also a large wine list on the back of the menu.

This place is good. I think the negative reviewers are unrealistic. This is Orlando. The ghetto of sunny destinations. All those pictures on the Internet of people with their buttcracks showing while shopping at Walmart... They were taken right here, less than 5 miles from this very "brasserie." So eat your mushroom pizzas, brunch buffets, pretty darn good waffles, fresh fruits, and eggs to order, enjoy the friendly service of the aging waitstaff (offered in espanol if you simply oprima el número dos), and go back to your meaningless conference that is essentially a paid vacation with an expense account, you entitled ungrateful dumbass.
