Why bother...blah food, SLOW service (I walked in and ordered to-go - waited at least 15 mins for a tiny grilled chicken leg, pre-made rice and beans -- not sure what on earth to so long). I know there is nothing near here, so you'll 'think' you could justify it in a pinch, but I promise, you'll regret it. Sorry Joe (or whoever took my order) - you were actually personable which I appreciate, but it can't make up for the shortcomings unfortunately.

This place is about 1 mile from my new place in Orlando and saw a coupon to use and tried it out with my 3 kids (13, 12 and 8 yo) - didn't get any kids meals but everyone cleaned thier plate (except me as I took some chicken home. My two boys LOVED the brisket sandwich and cole slaw and scarfed it down quickly as both are now approching 6' tall. My daughter had the 1/4 BBQ chicken which was also good as she ate that and FF's and she is quite the picky eater normally. I opted for the "Joes Fried Chicken" which the waitress said is spicy, and well as I put hot sauce on everything it sounded good to me. I could not place the seasoning as I seemed almost like "jerk" or some type of spices but the heat and flavor were on spot. Seemed like it was grilled chicken the coated rge fried quickly but it was very good and I will be back for the same meal again, and probably very soon. The decor is really nothing a few booths and tables, a 42" HDTV and the kitchen i quite open so you can see them cooking and prepping the food even from the furthest table. Floors could use a paint job but it is really more a a quick place to pick up some good food. Waitress was very attentive and food service was timely so no issues there, prices are a little steep for chicken and brisket (mentioned in the previous reviews) but overall I was quite impressed. They seem to have some lunch specials so that will be the next time I will try them. Cheers!

Wow, I am very surprised from what I am reading. Coming from miami, we dont have Halal BBQ restaurants so Charcoal Joes is known down south to serve excellent food, and its reputation is correct. I had the Rib-eye, simply delicious. I always go with 5+ people so of course you will have to wait, but it is worth it!

I stopped by for lunch to go one afternoon. The place is on John Young Parkway just south of the 528 in a little strip center. The restaurant is fairly small with some booths, tables, TVs and a counter/grill area. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with a side of plantains. My chicken sandwich had a decent flavor but was dry and a bit overcooked. It came with BBQ sauce which was good and helped the sandwich out tremendously. The plantains were good, plump and juicy without being greasy. The food was OK, but I thought it was a bit pricey. My sandwich was $6.99 and the side of plantains was an additional $3. There were only 5 plantains! Although I did take my food to go, the service I got while there was just pleasant enough but they definitely didn't go out of their way to be friendly. I did notice that they serve beer and have live music occasionally. Maybe it is livelier then? I was the only one there and expected an independent restaurant like that to be a bit more hospitable. Oh, well, I've tried them and probably won't be back.

Great food when they have it. I used to come in for the curry chicken and now they don't have it. I went in one day for the chicken tikka sandwich and they didn't have it. The food is great. But unreliable. I went in one day at 11am cuz that's the time they are supposed to be open. It was 11:30am and the guy said they were delayed. So I left. When they are open and have food it is wonderful. Just not consistent which is very frustrating.

Awesome ribs. Its been a couple of years since I was last year but I saw that I hadn't finished this review but I still remember the food as being excellent. Don't let the ambiance and random location fool you. The food is good.

The food at Charcoal Joe is delicious. We usually order the chicken sandwich. The sandwich comes with fries. It's rare to see a perfect fry. My husband says this place has the perfect fry. The chicken is juicy and flavorful. Please open a franchise in Chicago!

I sat at a table for 10 mins and nobody even looked my way. There were only 3 other people eating there and, what appeared to be, 2 waitresses. I can't tell you anything about the food because I got up and left. It really made me angry. Too bad because I work around the corner and love BBQ.

This so called "BBQ" place is a joke. They serve you fast food BBQ at filet mignon prices. Ordered the beef brisket sandwich, and it tasted like a sloppy joe. Service is terrible, and they want to charge extra for everything, which wouldn't be an issue if the food was good. If you want a good meal, go get your own meat and grill it yourself. Definitely reccomending people NOT to ever go close to this place.

My husband and I had lunch at your restaurant for the first time on February 2nd. It was a convenient location for both of us as I work right across the street and he is nearby as well. I was not going to write a review initially. I was just going to chock it up to a bad experience, never come back, and not recommend you to my co-workers; however, when I found out how much we spent I immediately changed my mind. I have worked for a restaurant company for over 32 years, and we appreciate our guest reviews, so I thought I would give it a shot. We could have gone anywhere else for less than what we spent with you, and had a much better experience. The minute we walked in we noticed the restaurant was not clean ... felt greasy. The waitress did greet us upon arrival, was very sweet and remained attentive throughout our stay. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees. She kept insisting that I have chicken and said it was very good. That's all well and good, but when I asked her if I could have all white meat, she said it would be $1 extra, but she again insisted that I would love the 1/4 chicken as is. Yes, I allowed her to talk me into it, my fault. I ordered fries as my side. My husband ordered a burger w/beans & rice on the side. When our meals came, we asked about our appetizer as it had not come out yet. As we watched our waitress go back to the kitchen and ask the cooks, one of the cooks acted disgusted and said he had just turned off the fryer. When we finally received it, it was fatty & overcooked. My husband's burger was burned on one side. The rice just wasn't good, and the beans reminded us of pinto beans you can buy in a can. I don't know where you get your chickens, but the thigh had hardly any meat at all on it, and both pieces were very greasy. My husband is an "it is what it is" kind of guy, but even he said the food was terrible and he would definitely not return. The only things that were good were the iced tea and the french fries. And the portion sizes were so small, yet our check came to $29.55 w/tip. Unbelievable! I will definitely not return, and I will certainly not recommend you to any of my co-workers, which is unfortunate because you are so conveniently located to our building.
