It was just a very lackluster experience. Starting with an uneducated hostest that has apparently worked there for some time. Happy hour pricing ended in about 20 minutes and she could not seat us because the tempan chefs were understaffed. But she couldn't answer us the simple question of since we are here on time for the special pricing, and it was not our fault you could not seat us, weather we could still get the discount. And no GM could be found for another 15 minutes. Food was over priced outside of early bird specials, and the service was slow and not very educated about the menu either. The cherry on the pie was the abundance of fruit flys everywhere. I looked like a starving African child on those commercials with flys buzzing around me. To make matters worse, when we told a passing chef that there was a fly in our food, he proceded to say NOOOOO. Then promptly took out the flashlight on his phone to get a closer look just to say, oh okay you are right and walk away. Standards people. STANDARDS.

Love this place!! Frequent here very often with the hubby. Will probably have lunch there tomorrow!!

If you want to experience the very WORST service ever in a restaurant, then this is definitely your place. Cocktails arrived after the first course (which took FOREVER to arrive as well). Sushi was very good and quite tasty. Hibachi meals were good. Second cocktail arrived at dessert time, near end of meal. Check took FOREVER to arrive and was incorrect, which then added another delay. You couldn't get me back in this place.

Very nice and trendy, but the service is very lacking. Took 14 min for my first drink to arrive, the waiter had poor food taking skills, and having to wait for refills and not feeling like a guest, more of just another number. Took 13 min for a refill. For a new restaurant, I will probably not be returning. Then management handled it with a $5 off coupon for an appetizer.

Went in for some sushi last week, I was very impressed with the hip atmosphere when we first go in. We just went for sushi, they seemed to have extra staff on hand since they just opened, so everybody was very attentive to our needs; there wasn't a single moment where my glass of water was half empty, being having an empty glass of water one of my pet-peeves. The sushi menu was very extensive, we ordered some non-traditional rolls and we got almost what I call art pieces. The plating and ingredients for the rolls were just very cool looking that made digging in kinda difficult lol. You could also tell the ingredients were REALLY fresh, and each roll just melted in my mouth. The Eel & Mango roll was one of my favorites may I add that their Spicy Mayo is one of the best I have tasted so far. Despite being really full already, we decided to get dessert. We got a green-tea tiramisu, it was like the perfect icing on the cake for our dinner. We are trying to plan another trip to try their hibachi, we are glad we found our new favorite spot in town, it is definitely

Since my last review about the poor service this location has significantly improved and I am happy to say it is one of my favorite places to go for sushi.

Great customer service! Had a little issue with the food not being cooked to well. Nothing extreme, and the waiter had no questions and had a new plate sent out to us ASAP. We didn't wait long at all. The food was delicious! The service is amazing. The atmosphere is great. The cost is pretty good and you get A LOT of food for what you pay for. Left there so full. Although I had a great experience I read that this place was closed down for health code violations. This is upsetting considering this place was great. I won't be going back.

The food here is wonder and so are their specials. The problem is the customer service. The servers, except for one, have all seemed miserable. They are not friendly and are not on top of their game. It seems as though they didn't even have assigned sections. We had one server come (after waiting about 5mins) and take our drink order.... then three mins later had another server come and ask us what we wanted to drink. They have a lunch special which is amazing. Steak or chicken hibachi with fried rice or noodles for $6! We always get the miso soup as well for $1.75. Our total bill for lunch was just around $8/each! You can't beat that! The price and the food is why I gave this place three stars. The lack of quality customer service is why I took two stars away. I will post photos of their specials.

I am note sure if it's worth doing this review, since it seems the place was bought of a few days after I went. Either way, I was feeling reluctant toward going to this place because I saw that someone posted something about the place being closed off by the health department back on March. However, decoded to give it a chance. Was not bad, but not great. I would say that if you are around the area and eager to eat sushi, why not? But I wouldn't go out of my way to attend to this place.

This is my go to sushi spot.. I'm there almost every time for ladies night Thursday and some call in orders if I don't want to cook... My favorite rolls have become the summer breeze, mad max, Kathleen, bayridge and volcano... They are all pretty good.. It adds quickly so a vip rewards membership will be great to get discounts bc I go so often.

Bay ridge is great for all their cooked foods and hibachi. Check out their daily specials for a great deal on hibachi meals and happy hour. I am not a fan of their sushi. It does not seem very fresh and has a preservative after taste. My recommendations for cooked foods would be the nabe yaki udon soup! This has been my favorite so far. I ordered hot tea and even though the tea kettle is very cute, it is very heavy and not very practical for restaurant use. I also felt like the tea glasses had a wet rag smell to it. Like it was cleaned or dried well. For drinks, they have a full bar. I would recommend the nigori (unfiltered) sake, not all places carry this so I try to get it here when I go there. Not too bad of a place. It had it's strengths and weaknesses and just have to pick the right cooked items when you go.

I just discovered this place a couple weeks ago from a coworker, and after one visit, it has become my new go-to sushi place nearby! It is located in the beautiful downtown Avalon Park area, so there are a lot of shops and parks to walk by and enjoy the views either before or after your meal. Walking inside, you can immediately tell they put effort into making the place look nice. It is decorated with dark walls, highlighted with reds and blue with some Asian jade pieces here and there. Very nice atmosphere to eat in. We were immediately greeted and seated at a booth. There was a TV above us which was great so we could catch the game that was on while eating, Don't mistake this for a sports bar though. Far from it. We came for happy hour which is everyday from 3pm-6pm. I've got to say, there has been no better happy hour that I have ever been to. The sushi rolls were only 3 dollars. I was worried at first there would only be a few rolls to choose from, but I was surprised to find that there is a whole sheet of rolls that I could choose from! There was also cheap appetizers and sashimi/nigiri as well. We ordered about 10 rolls/nigiri. It was crazy. The rolls came out relatively quickly for how busy it was, and they were perfect. The spicy salmon and tuna were so stuffed with fish that it was more than worth the money. The other rolls we ordered were similarly satisfying. Somehow we managed to finish all our roll, and we were back within the week for more. Highly recommended.

This is our fourth time visiting this restaurant. Every time we dine it's a delicious experience ! The sushi is fresh and creative I especially liked the yummy roll we also enjoy dining at the grill where the chef prepares your meal before your eyes.

One of our favorite places in Orlando! Me and the kids love the Hibachi grill, my wife loves the sushi. They have great weekly specials so there are great values daily. The meat selections, the veggies, and fried rice, all delicious. Service has always been attentive and courteous for us. In fact, my kids are asking to go to the "fire place" again. I think we'll be back this week.

John is the only reason I give this place one star. He was a great hibachi cook. The soup was cold and salad was old and not fresh. I was ready to leave after the salad but I was with guest. I've been to hibachis all over the country and this was the worst

$3 sushi rolls tonight. Taking forever to get our food. We have been waiting for 45 minutes for our 4 rolls. Inexcusable service. Even the bartenders seem overwhelmed by the 6 of us sitting here. Ended up getting it to go. Not worth saving the money.

It's nice inside. Location was easy to get to, and they feature some pretty awesome dinner and drink specials that are inviting to anyone walking by. Sushi and rolls selection was pretty solid, and service was pleasant. What could have made this place better? Offering brown rice as a substitute in their rolls would have been fantastic! Trying to eat somewhat healthy can be challenging, and I truly wanted to try their rolls, but rather, I opted for the protein route. We ordered the sashimi special and were hoping that we would score big on the sushi offerings. 5 of the 9 were super delicious. Yay! We also ordered the Grilled Sea Bass and Red Snapper (cooked) from the appetizer menu, and they weren't too bad. Lacking on the flavor with the sea bass, and a bit heavy on the sauce with the snapper, but not bad. The Tuna Kobachi wasn't bad as well, but I've never had it with spicy mayo before. Wasn't terrible, but wasn't the traditional dish I was looking for either. Out of all of the mediocre dishes, the saving dish was the Yellowtail sashimi, topped with a slivered piece of jalapeno, srirachi sauce, and soaked in ponzu sauce. Very nice. Overall I'd come back again if I'm in the neighborhood. :)

My girlfriends and I used to eat at this restaurant at least once a month since its grand opening at Avalon Park. Food was good & service was, too. Then we stopped patronizing this restaurant about year and a half ago. During my birthday luncheon, my friends and I were treated indifferently by the server & bartender. Food was lousy as well. We all decided the place was not worth revisiting. There are too many restaurants in Orlando with outstanding food offerings and outstanding wait staff. We have not been back since then.

This place was AMAZING! I bought a Living Social deal for here and as we were driving over, my wife looked at the reviews. We were a little hesitant after reading them, but found that our experience had nothing negative to report. In fact, it was GREAT! My wife and I were seated at a table upon arrival and we had only a short wait before others arrived. I ordered a Sahara Roll as an appetizer and it was AMAZING. I highly recommend that. Our order was cooked in front of us and the chef did a pretty great job. The portions were large and everything was delicious. After dinner, there were a few extra pieces of chicken left. The chef took turns tossing pieces into each of our mouths. Then he had some Sprite in a squeeze bottle and squeezed Spite into mouths across the hibachi grill too. Not a drop went anywhere but in our mouths! Fun times all around!

Cons: The restaurant was so dark I could hardly see my menu. The tv was blocked by a light fixture. The service was slow and the waiter never refilled our drinks. The food was bland and tasted processed. I heard yelling coming from the kitchen. Pros: None

We have always loved the Bay Ridge Sushi in Longwood so we had to try this one.....it's much closer to home. Although we didn't eat at them, the new hibachi grill is a great addition and we will definitely give them a try. The sushi was great and the service was pretty good. It could have been better, but can live with it. The edamame needed some additional seasoning, but a very good visit.

My favorite place to get sushi by far. Never disappointed coming here. I always get the 3 sushi rolls for 10 bucks. Can't beat that and they don't get skimpy on the rolls. Good quality for a good price. Service is exceptional too.

Went early for lunch with 2 co-worker friends today. We all ordered Bento boxes with tempura. Portions were large and included miso soup, salad with ginger dressing, white rice, crispy crab Rangoon, and California roll. Everything was delicious! The two servers who handled our table were very friendly and helpful. My only minor gripes are about cleanliness...the soy sauce bottle was grimy and needed to be wiped down. Also, when we got our checks, all 3 bill portfolios had dirty, worn comment cards/inserts with writing, tucked into the left side. No biggie I guess but then these little things that could be easily avoided, makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is.

I have been going to Bayridge for about a year now. I really enjoy the sushi and the happy hour is the best around. The service on the other hand is awful. We ordered the bayridge roll during happy he with 8 other rolls. When It came I ate one my husband ate one and my daughter snuck one lol. Keep in mind I've had this roll before so I know that it's been delicious in the past. We told the waiter (who was not eye rice) that we did not like it. He pretty much looked around said ok and walked away. They have us the check and we were shocked most restaurants would just take it off he bill and remove it. Instead the "manager" came around and said since you ate 3 we are going to charge you %50. My husband was very upset. He said 3 out of 8 is not %50 and no I don't want to pay for something we didn't enjoy. After that experience. I will not be going back. I've never experienced being that uncomfortable in a restaurant when the bill came. We had to fight for our $7.95 or 8.95. Whatever it was. Mood: very disappointed.

I realized today that although I've been here a few times I've never written a review. I stopped in today for a quick lunch and was quite surprised. They have a $6 express Hibachi lunch which is great if you're really in a hurry but I would recommend paying $2 more and get the Hibachi platter. The platter comes with salad, miso soup, noodles, rice, veggies and your choice of protein. I chose to have Hibachi steak. Oh and I can't forget to add it all comes with the yummy white sauce that can be found in most Japanese restaurants. I received the salad and miso soup at the same time. The salad was made of iceberg lettuce and tomatoes and was covered with a tasty ginger dressing. I only wish more restaurants would use other types of lettuce other than iceberg. The miso soup was served hot. Honestly it's not my favorite but it was good. My entree arrived beautifully. The sirloin was cooked in bite sizes pieces and covered in a teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds. I requested that my steak to be cooked medium but I got almost well done making the meat a little tough. The veggies were made of zucchini, broccoli, carrots and onions. They were the best thing on the plate. The rice was regular steamed rice and went well with the steak. Service was excellent but I think that they had no choice since the place was pretty dead. Not what I expected for a 12:30 visit. I will definitely put this place on my lunch list as it's a good place to escape from the office.

I've given this Avalon Park location several chances. Every single chance I have given this restaurant has left me regretting the chance I gave them. Customer Service has left much to be desired as did their sushi and lunch specials. Save your money and time and go to Wasabi Sushi in front of the Neighborhood Market.

What can I say? Kobe is better! Over price for regular to low quality food! Never again. Drinks were extremely overpriced. Two drinks for $30.

Considering the fact that this place is walking distance and the quality is above par AND they have an amazing lunch special, I think I found my to go place when I'm home alone at my fiance's house and craving sushi and too lazy to drive or to cheap to go to our usual places. I should've taken my fiance here to his birthday lunch instead of the other place lol :). Their lunch special is $6.95 and you get two rolls plus miso and ginger salad. I got the tuna avocado and scallion roll, and spicy yellowtail roll to go. They give a decent amount of miso soup, and a good amount of salad. The rolls weren't amazing, but they were good and quality was above par! Considering the price for it, its a good deal! This is just talking about lunch only, I have yet to try dinner here or the hibachi.

Pretty good sushi although when I went there for happy hour on July 4th the waiter told us they took away happy hour because it was a holiday!!! Really?! Are you serious? Usually restaurants run a special on holidays... Instead they took it away and lost our business that day.

I tried this place out with some friends for some sushi and drinks. Good sushi with a lot to choose from the usual to pick from and a few specialty rolls. Now for the drinks I got a beer and my girlfriend wanted a mojito but the waitresses said they were out of mojito mix? not sure how that can happen when it wasn't so busy and it was on the featured drink menu. Anyway she got something else which she liked. The waitress was nice and let us take our time. The decor was very nice and upscale and you can tell they spent a lot of time on making it look unique and stand out from other places. As far as the sushi goes I would pick another place that's closer to where I live. I have friends who live next to this place and they love it for the convenience. Everything was good nothing stood out for me.

I caved and went back with my whole family. They had made improvements, so we have gone back several times. They have changed signage to better reflect their specials after my complaints. Big plus. They only have one server for the entire hibachi area every time we go, which means that the poor guy is running around with his head cut off. He is doing his best to get things out, but he could really use some help. Things come out at odd times. The hibachi chefs are always excellent. Some are more chatty then others, but they do a great job. The food tastes much better at the hibachi side then when we have eaten in the regular restaurant area. Overall, it's a good bargain and a fun dinner if you do one of the hibachi specials.

Overall: A definite improvement. I am glad my boyfriend and I decided to give Bayridge another try. We were seated immediately at the sushi bar, but the table and hibachi wait was up to 60 minutes. The sushi chefs were really friendly and offered to answer any questions we had. Our server was great too. I ordered the Chef's Special and Heaven rolls. The Heaven roll was pretty sweet, but it tasted great. The Chef's Special roll stole the show. We are definitely glad we gave Bayridge another shot and we will be returning soon.

Coming into the restaurant, we already had expectations of poor service but they were quickly exceeded with even poorer food quality. We could not believe how long it took to be seated in an almost empty restaurant (nearly ten minutes with every waiter and bartender looking at us but proceeding to ignore us), then to have our order taken. Our drinks arrived after reminding the waiter about them (15 minutes later) and then once the food arrived, it lacked any flavor. I realized that they had replaced the Kikkoman soy sauce bottles with a lesser quality or at the very least, watered down product. When the waiter was asked about it, he assured us it was Kikkoman. There was a clear difference in taste. We asked for the check and had to get up to find my waiter for it a second time after waiting for nearly an additional twenty minutes. All in all, it was a terrible experience. Do not recommend.

Bayridge Sushi & Steakhouse held their soft-opening yesterday and it lived up to all of our hopes and expectations. Being their first day, we expected there to be a few hiccups in the service and in their systems - and there were. They were having problems running credit cards and we overheard one of the bartenders saying they couldn't sell shots of liquor due to some permit issue that had not been resolved yet. And, of course, the servers were terribly nervous. Despite it all, they persevered and they did a great job. The staff was friendly and attentive and I saw a manager checking in with some tables who had just finished to get feedback from them. From what we understood, while some of the servers were new (possibly even just to waiting tables), the chefs were all experienced and brought in from the other locations. This meant that while they may be working out kinks in the service itself, the food itself was still held to the highest standards. We were seated pretty quickly - waiting about 10 minutes for a table in the sushi area. We just waited at the bar and had a drink. The bar area is gorgeous. In fact, everything here is. They pushed the opening of the restaurant back a few weeks from their expected "by the end of October", but they made good use of their time and really made this place look awesome. It's a modern lounge feel with neon lights that are subtle and don't hurt your eyes. The music they played clashed a little bit, but it didn't take you out of the element. While it looks like you can order teppan items from the menu in the sushi area, we were here for sushi specifically. Starting with an edamame appetizer, our group ordered the Super Crunch Roll, Mad Max Roll, Tempura Eel & Mango Roll, Spicy Yellowtail Roll, Sweet Potato Roll, some pieces of Eel and I believe an Avocado Roll. The rolls are large and nicely priced. While we enjoyed all of the rolls, the Mad Max and the Super Crunch Rolls seemed to have been the favorites of them all. Leaving the restaurant last night, my wife commented that she wanted to come back tomorrow. Avalon Park has been in need of a great sushi place in the area for quite a while now. Bayridge Sushi fits that bill perfectly.

Frankly I haven't found "my dish" here yet. You know, that stand by its-always-good entree. But the locale is perfect for East side, the decor, vibe and service make up for it. The sushi is good - just not blow you out of the water. Nothing to original and they do tend to err on the slightly more formal style. For AP, this is a bit over doing it. Outdoor seating makes taking our dog an option. I love that. Service is Always very fast and super friendly. The bar is really special for our side of town. On the east side its not easy to find a "cool" bar. but this place does a great job. There are tons of TVs, bar tenders are fast and have good recommendations. Limited options on draft beer and beer prices are a bit expensive. I like the basics here, fried rice and wontons are exactly as they should be. The California roll was very fresh tasting. Drinks are a bit on the expensive side ($14 for 2 well vodka tonics) but with limited comfortable bars in my area, I'll take it. Good place to escape the kids and grab a grown up drink if you're in the 'burbs.

Last Saturday we were having lunch at the bar area when a man walked in and without saying a word the bartender Guillermo or Mr G as he introduced himself to us just verbally attacked this older man . The man showed us mugshots of the bartender and cops were called . When we got home we checked the bartenders criminal history and it is very extensive , from felony drug and weapon to aggravated assault and violating probation. This is not a place for this kind of person , he showed no respect to the customers nor to the establishment . I will never go back . And we will find out about the legality of letting our fellow Avalon park residents know who their wives and children might come in contact with at Bayridge , and I will also notify the schools.

Ive been coming to this place for a few years now. This place has really fresh sushi. They have happy hour frok 4-6 every day, which includes 3$ rolls. They also have happy hour drinks... For guys they have deals like 1.50$ yeungling and for ladies they have ladies night for $7 all you can drink. I have never had hibachi but it seems really fun. I love this place so much! You get goid sushi for good prices. The yukon veggie meal is also really delicious (the non soup one). I definitely recommend this place!

I was a little hesitant walking into this place, seeing some of the reviews of it. But I can't say I have any complaints. We went to get hibachi here with our living social deal. I got filet and my husband got chicken and a sushi roll. The prices are great, I ordered extra noodles just to get to the $50 we had to spend there! Filet was cooked perfectly, melt in your mouth. The portion sizes I think are bigger than Kobe. I have so much leftovers! The chef was funny and personable and very entertaining without trying too hard. Loved it all, would definitely eat there again

This place is fairly cheap for their lunch and dinner menus. They have a few pretty good deals that vary by day and hour. And.. Their large selection of rolls are not too pricey. I LOVE their onion soup and ginger house salad! The soup is always hot and full of flavor and I scrape up the remnants of salad every time. It's especially good if you enjoy ginger dressing as much as I do. The hibachi grilled steak is good for the most part. It's juicy and tender I haven't experienced any over-redness or overcooked meat here. I'm not a huge fan of their chicken. It is just not very flavorful. Their shrimp is usually pretty good. If you're looking for a place to really wow you by their cooked meats, it's probably not going to be here. The grilled veggies, noodles, and fried rice is generally very good. The sushi and sashimi selection is a bit overwhelming. But from what I've tried, I have only been disappointed once. That was the spider roll. It didn't have that fresh taste that you usually get. I have also had the eel roll (good), spicy eel roll (good), salmon cheese roll (good), tuna roll (good), shrimp tempura roll (good), California roll (good) , Golden Lobster roll w/ mango (very good), Sexy Lobster roll (very good), Super Volcano roll (very good), tuna sashimi (good), salmon sashimi (good), octopus sashimi (good)... Basically, it's a decent place for a sushi and sashimi night. Now, the service! I'm usually not impressed with the servers. We've often had waiters forget to bring out some orders, not fill up our glass, or bring us the wrong order. The entertainment by the hibachi chefs is hilarious though! They are very friendly and full of energy and interact with the customers a lot. I thought that this restaurant would be long gone shortly after it opened, but it is pretty popular for the neighborhood normally during dinnertime. I don't usually see too many people there for lunch despite the cheap lunch specials. To conclude this review, it's a fair restaurant. I'll probably be there again for the sushi. I've been to better hibachi restaurants, but it's pretty much worth what you pay.

So here is the challenge with the place... they are absolutely trying and need to work on their overall customer service. The manager can be condescending to the staff which pisses me off and your service is still very much hit or miss. However, who cares about all of that when they serve of amazing sushi. The roles they have are unique and good. I have tried several of them and have not been disappointed. Definitely make reservations as this place can fill up quick.

Ah, this place. I do love the fried rice and habachi food, but they really make it hard to enjoy it sometimes. The manager / owner or whatever is nice, but the bartender ignores everyone. They are very slow with greeting tables, especially in the bar area. Sometimes with happy hour they have good deals, but I try not to stay. The trick is to get the food to-go, haha. But anyway, good fried rice! at $10.61 though it's a bit steep.

I love this place! On Sundays they offer their "Early Bird Special" all day, which is essentially their lunch prices for hibachi. I've never had their sushi but have had a few appetizers. The hibachi chefs are great! Very funny and good with kids too!! I had my 25th birthday dinner there and would recommend it to anyone that wants a good hibachi meal.

Ew, no, no, no way. We came for the first time about two weeks after they opened. Front staff was awful. They looked at us standing in front of them and completely ignored us. We did not have reservations and it was a Friday evening so it was 45 min until they sat us which I is understandable. When they sat us down it took the server about 20 minutes to come to our table to take the drink order. I had one of their martinis (it was blue and I don't remember the name) and it was awful. Extremely sweet and kind of warm. We ordered a few rolls that had some tempura in them but they went crazy nuts putting tempura on those. It's all you could taste on every single roll. Greasy and you could barely taste the fish which at the same time I'm kind of glad I didn't. My BF ordered a cooked salmon dish and some tuna sashimis. He said the cooked salmon was not good and that it was way too sweet. Now, the tuna sashimi he almost spit it out of his mouth because it tasted like rotten fish but he was brave enough to eat it. However, he could not eat any more of his dish after that. Disgusting. I was so excited when I saw this place open close to home. I'm very dissapointed because it's not even an OK place. It's really bad.

I have been there twice. I first time was awful. My friends were going there for lunch, so I reluctantly acquiesced. I was hoping this time I was going to get better service. I was wrong! If you have the poor sense to go there do not order the water. It reminds me of something I drank in Tijuana. I previously ordered the sushi. I was cognoscente not to order it again. I ordered the Hibachi beef medium. When this wonderment of esculence arrived the (Beef) I think, was overcooked. Now when I say it was overcooked, that really doesn't do it justice. The closest thing I could describe the (beef) to would be beef jerky, just a tad softer. I told the waiter that the (beef) was overcooked. He brought me the replacement (beef). I am using quotes around beef as I can only assume the the meet I was served was (beef) I digress. I did send the entire meal back, regretting that fact I had given Bayridge a second chance. A member of our group asked for the checks. About a minute later we received the bill. Yes I was given a bill for the food I sent back. I asked the waiter if there was a mistake, I reminded him that I did not eat the food. He hesitated then begrudgingly took the bill back. At no time did the waiter apologize for the food. At no tome did a manager come out to inquire about the meal that had been sent back. I will never go back. I have a feeling I will be gripping the closest toilet for the next several hours. The only time I would recommend visiting this establishment is if you are suffering from severe constipation.

I only order their lunch special on pick-up. The first time, they completely forgot to include rice with my meal but I only found out after I came home. I was annoyed but their food was delicious so I came back a few more times. The last time, I was told that it would be 20mins for my food. When I got there, I had to wait another 20mins till my food was ready and I was their only customer at the time. I think they forgot about my order. Instead of being honest, they charged me and made me wait there. My husband was in the car the entire time with his food going cold. Their lunch specials include ginger salad, 4 shrimp dumplings, 4 California rolls, and miso soup. All of this for around 8 dollars. Its a complete steal. Their hibachi meats is delicious and the dumplings are my favorite things ever. Their white sauce is not as good as Kobe but still good. They like to put the California rolls in the same box as the hibachi with a big chunk of wassabi on top of all four rolls due to lack of space. The worst idea ever! The four california rolls comes out drench in teriyaki sauce from the meat. The heat from the meat makes the rolls really mush and hot. If you can stomach hot sushi then I hope you can handle spice because there is no way to remove the wassabi, they placed in there, from the rolls. Overall, I find that Kyoto to be a lot more food for a lower price and without any of the hassle.

The teppan grill is awesome. It stacks up against Kobe or Fuji Sushi. The staff is always very attentive and they make sure to refill your drinks promptly. My family if four ate here for about $120. That really is not bad for all the food. My only complaint is that the chef we had really did not the tricks. He threw the fork accidentally when trying to twirl it and he had issues cracking the eggs. Not one egg cracked on the spatula. Although he did try.

On a whim we decided to have dinner here after working out. Between our family of 6 (4 kids) we had chicken, salmon, steak & filet mignon. We say at the grill which the kids especially enjoyed. Ambience was nice. We felt a little strange in our gym clothes but were assured by the hostess we were fine. Fried rice & noodles were amazing! Sushi tasted fresh, filet was cooked perfectly, salmon was also fresh. Our only disappointment was the chicken. It tasted rubbery. We have four small children and as we prepared to leave, the busboy was standing behind us waiting for us to leave. I'm not sure why, it wasn't like we were taking too long (in my opinion) and its a Wednesday night....made me feel awkward and slightly annoyed. We will still come back. Definitely on a date with no kids to slow us down! ;)

Very disappointed with the service. Each drink order took over 20 minutes and from time sat to bill paid was just shy of 2 hours with an appetizer and sushi only. When speaking with the manager about the slow service, not apology was offered, only excuses. The sushi was very good. The hand rolls were tasty and the price points are reasonable. But the poor service from the untimely table and kitchen service and a manager (Davis) who has no customer service skills will keep me from returning.

eating out is expensive, and my roommate is a fantastic chef, but i just moved to avalon park and def. want to sample avalon park's restaurant selection. previous yelpers have given this place pretty negative reviews, but i checked out the menu beforehand and decided the prices were decent and the location was close enough for me to stop by. my bf and i visited on a saturday night and were able to find parking and get a table without a problem. one warning, be careful walking around this restaurant. i'm not sure if it was my shoes or the floor, but i definitely almost fell on my ass walking to our table (pretty sure it was the floor). we ordered four rolls and all were pretty good. i'm not a big fish fan, but i love veggie sushi. has anyone else tried the sweet potato tempura roll? mine was undercooked, but everything else was pretty good. overall, a decent experience. i might try and convince my roomie to try the lunch special with me one day.

Very nice looking restaurant with some nice lunch specials and very good food. Portions are a good size for the price. My gripe would be the extremely poor service that my wife and I received. When we entered the place, the manager "greeted" us while on the phone. He never did get off the phone, nor did he ever really acknowledge us. He simply grabbed a couple of menus and walked to a table that we followed him to, like a couple of puppies. :) Other than the lack luster service, I think the place could be a great addition to this community.

Since I work upstairs from this new joint and I've been listening to construction noises for a good 6 months, it would be a shame for me to not visit at least a few times since they opened. My coworkers and I were actually their very first table for lunch on opening day and while they did have several kinks to work out, overall things were good. For the first day, we decided to sit at the teppan tables to get the full experience. Udon noodles are served for lunch instead of fried rice but you can upgrade for a reasonable $2. The chef put on a very good show and was exactly what I expected. Overall, the cost of the lunch teppan meals are inexpensive ($8 - $12, depending on what you order) and I'm hoping they keep prices at that level. On another visit, I decided to try out the sushi bar area. It has a cozy atmosphere with good, dim lighting and modern decor. The two rolls I tried were incredible: * Tempura eel and mango - Mango on top of an eel and asparagus roll with a honey sauce drizzled over it. This was a perfect blend of flavors... don't ruin by dipping in soy sauce! * Jalapeno tuna - spicy tuna roll with jalapeno and a teeny tiny dab of wasabi mayo on top. I'm a huge fan of jalapenos and I always love it when I see sushi restaurants daring to use them in their dishes, so this was a plus for me. On a side note, try a sake bomb there. It's an interesting experience but try not to break your hand! ;0)

Even though it would be a hike from our house, we had purchased a living social coupon based on many friends' reviews of the Longwood location. Then I looked at yelp and was a little freaked out, expecting poor service and low quality food. So glad it did NOT live up to the negative reviews. Started with a generous portion of tuna kobachi with spicy mayo, reasonably priced veggie tempura which was a nice portion and the grilled snapper. The snapper was excellent, perfectly cooked. I wish I could find a piece of fish like that in a non sushi place. All apps arrived quickly. Because we had committed to $50. We were only half way there so we ordered 4 rolls. Spicy conch, spicy salmon the Lover roll and the Bayridge. All good sushi but we were not keen on the sweet sauce on the Bayridge. A little contrast of soy and wasabi helped. I am more than willing to go back. Check out the prices. You will be happily surprised

This place sucks. I've been there several times as I live just a block away. Any server or bartender who was actually good at their job seems to have been replaced with some incompetent mongoloid. Service sucks and the owner is even worse. Never going back...

I waited for months and a few visits to write this update but its obvious this place is not going to get better. We have been back about half dozen times since it opened. What a huge disappointment. Each visit ends with a hope it will get as good as it was before. They have gone downhill in a hurry. The hibachi is ok (not great) but Kobe is better. The sushi is an emergency room visit waiting to happen. Our softshell crab roll could be smelled when the waiter entered the room. OMG! It was spoiled shellfish and smelled bad. The waiter took it back and brought another type of roll. I apologized (why me?) and said I just couldnt do it. It smelled too bad. He looked at me with a defeated look and said"would you PLEASE talk to the owner about that and let him know your concerns." So I assume the owners dont listen to their wait staff. Huge red flag. We couldnt tell the quality of the other fish we had because the rolls were absolutely smothered in sauce. The chefs either cant make sushi or they are masking the sushi with too much sauce. I MEAN SMOTHERED! I ran into a former waitress working at another sushi joint since I will never be back to Bayridge and asked her what happened to Bayridge since it went downhill in such a short amount of time. She really tip toed about the question ( I get it. She really didnt know me and didnt want to risk burning bridges) and finally said that the owners dont really listen to the customers or the wait staff. Its too bad. The restaurant is still really beautiful and I really enjoyed going there when it first opened and its less than ten minutes from my house. The service has gotten worse, the food is now abysmal, and after reading the last two health inspection reports on the OS website, I'll drive the extra ten minutes and go to Yuki Hana instead.

The only hibachi place I know that serves duck on hibachi grill. I'm use to always getting the filet and chicken or shrimp but to my surprise they had duck?! It was absolutely phenomenal! I got 2 huge duck breasts cooked medium well and the chef seasoned it perfectly. The rice is a bit soggy/mushy and not to liking so I always get double noodles. My favorite sushi roll is the Super Crunch and Mad Max Roll. The uni here isn't very fresh but there's always other things to try. I love the atmosphere and the way the restaurant was designed. It's very upscale and fun and hip. The outside patio gives it a nice touch too. I know this is just their soft opening so i'm looking forward to their grand opening!

Ate here a few weeks ago and the service was terrible. When I say terrible, I mean that we waited forever to place an order, it took an hour for the food to come out, the server never came to refill drinks, and never apologized. Once he food came out, stuff was missing from several of the sushi plates. When asked, the server said they are really busy in the kitchen and the chefs are having a hard time keeping up. A simple apology would have been good, but it never happened. Furthermore, the missing food never came despite two requests for it. It finally showed up after we had paid the bill! The food was okay. Nothing special. I won't return because of the service and I am sorry I ever went there.

Sort of upscale but we were all casually dressed. A lot of locals come in here, and I noticed a lot of to-go orders while I waited to be seated. My friends and I hung out at the bar as they got our table ready. The bar area is a little small and the seats were pretty jammed in, but it is a full bar. At dinner I, had the miso soup and summer breeze roll. Both really good. My friends all had various rolls and all liked theirs. A couple of friends ordered the hibachi chicken and duck and we were all a lil jealous. Sake bombs can be ordered by the serving versus entire carafes with extra beer. Overall a good experience.

We have been here twice, our first and last. They cannot get an order correct. Twice I ordered a bento box with shrimp. Both times I got chicken. I got a dirty look when I told the front desk person that I didn't want sushi. Too many other sushi restaurants around that are better and don't mind serving cooked food as well as sushi.

Horrible Sunday service for take out. Amazing food when I dined in, but taking out was completely different. You become a second class customer when they realize you are not dining in. I waited 17 minutes to place my order this afternoon. Still good food. But service matters, no matter how you choose to dine.

I can't believe the poor reviews this place has gotten. It was great! We went during 5-6 happy hour and were seated immediately. Ordered two sushi rolls, a beer, and two hibachi entrees with fried rice, noodles, veggies, steak, shrimp, chicken, soup, and salad. The whole meal came in at forty dollars. The decor was great, and the service beyond exceptional. The waiter answered all of our questions, and another waiter was constantly removing plates and refilling drinks. They were very attentive and friendly. The hibachi chef was great as well, though he toned his performance down since it was just the two of us. There was a large party across from us, though, so we saw how well that chef catered to children and really made it a party, including throwing chicken for them to catch in their mouths and squirting sake into the adult's mouths (with water "sake" for the kids). We were very entertained! This place is great, and maybe they are still ironing out a few kinks but I hope they stay around. Avalon Park needs them!

We were happy to see a sushi place opening in Avalon Park, since we love to support our community. My family and I came here for lunch right after church, and we were the only ones there. The server was sweet and brought us drinks, soups, salads and was on top of our refills. The soup had no flavor, and neither did the salad. My sushi gave me no reason to come back. The food from the Teppan Grill had no flavor all the food was bland. I guess we were comparing this restaurant with another, which is very good. The seating was uncomfortable due to the table being too high, our feet were hanging and it was very uncomfortable. Our experience was not memorable, and I am positive that we will not be returning.

Terrible place. Just today I went with my girlfriend and her friend who are both former employees. They walked in past Ben, the owner (tall and bald Chinese man) who claimed that they glared at him. He gave the bartender Michelle instructions not to serve them because he "grilled him". I'm not sure what that means, but it sounds fairly silly to me. I live right down the street, and I will never go again. Can't wait for them to go out of business so another place that's actually good can move in.

The atmosphere is pretty good, but I found the food to be rather mediocre. The beef was a bit chewy. About the beef: Don't be confused by the term Steakhouse in their name. While they have a large menu reminiscent of a strip mall Chinese restaurant, they only have two kinds of steak on the menu, sirloin and filet. Indeed they have more "boxes" on the menu than beef choices. The menu says that they serve Certified Angus Beef. I know that the USDA certifies three grades of beef, select, choice, and prime, but what is certified Angus beef? I asked them and they could not answer the question. I will tell you. Certified Angus beef is the brand name of a company. It can be any grade -select, choice, or prime. Saying the beef is Certified Angus is sort of like saying I buy Shell gasoline; it says nothing about the grade or quality of the beef. Indeed my best guess, based on the chewiness and price is that they serve select grade beef. So, it is a good place to take the kids for the show of the chef tossing things in the air at the grill, but the food is not very good.

My girlfriend and I dined here not too long ago. We sat at the sushi bar. Unfortunately, the girl who sat us didn't inform any of the servers where we were sitting. This meant that it took over 15 minutes to get the attention of anyone who was willing to help. In all fairness, the sushi guy helped out as much as he could but his English wasn't that great. After getting the manager's attention about not having been greeted or introduced to a server yet, he promptly took our drink and dinner orders and apologized for the lack of service. He ended up being our server for the evening, which was fine, but the sushi we ordered was not prepared correctly (i.e., it was the wrong order!) . They were willing to replace it for free, but they also screwed up that order. Apparently, the third time IS the charm because that's when we finally received the correct order. Fortunately, the manager removed the sushi order that was repeatedly prepared incorrectly from our bill. In sum, the food and drinks were good, but the quality of the serving staff leaves much to be desired. I'm willing to give the place another shot, but it will definitely be the last one if the service quality doesn't improve.

Don't know where to begin with my frustration. Basically my girlfriend and I were driving around the area and saw Bayridge and decided to go and grab a bite. After we got seated, things just gotten worst and worst. It takes over 7 minutes for a server to come and take our orders and the place wasn't even busy. We order drinks from the bar and some sushi and this is where I got pissed off, the drink was made already but the server was nowhere to be found and I came up to bar to see if I can take the drink but unfortunately he can't give it to me which is understandable. After about 5 minutes later I saw our server walk out of the kitchen and went to the host stand and start talking to the host, so I called her over and ask if my drinks are ready, she respond "oops I forgot, I"ll go get it now". Also she forgot to bring us the sushi as well and I. can understand if it was busy. After I'm done, I talk to a manager about his server and he didn't even do anything and I wasn't even ask for a free meal or a discount. First and last time I will come here

It is during times like this that I wish there were a "no star" option. The Story: We bought a house in December and we have been putting quite a bit of sweat equity into it. Our neighbors have also helped us with projects so to show our appreciation we offered to take them to dinner here. We made reservations, arrived and were seated approximately 5 minutes after our arrival. The Problems: Once we were seated it took around 20 to 25 minutes to get our drinks with the exception of my husband's beer which took an additional 10 minutes to get. We ordered and then another party were seated with us. This other party apparently has an issue with butter as when the chef arrived they said they did not want butter. Instead of separating their food from ours, the chef did not add butter.. which gives the flavor to the food. The food was terrible. My husband order shrimp, steak and chicken. We had to pay full price for each item which was fine however my husband only received 3 shrimp while the chef handed out 3 shrimp to each person at the table (you know for a sample or whatever) when we questioned him about it we received a shoulder shrug. The service continued to be terrible as we would have to wave down the waiter to receive refills. Our sushi order was completely wrong and we were missing two rolls. Resolution: None. Management did not seem to mind that we did not get what we paid for. Management did not seem to mind that the staff was rude and unattentive. We will not be going back to Bayridge. I recommend that if you are in the mood for Sushi or Hibachi that you go to Kobe. It is much better food and service wise. It was a grand disappointment. On a side note.. the food was so terrible that I did not eat but two bites of rice and one piece of shrimp. It had no flavor and was practically raw.

Living in Avalon Park, we were thrilled when an apparent upscale Sushi restaurant was moving in. Sadly, after two times, we've decided to part ways. On our second visit tonight, the following happened: 1) Told that the offers that were available, weren't. Or, technically, the way they are written is poor (Kids Eat Free-Mondays and Early Bird Dine In) 2) Given a waiter who had no idea what the specials were. 3) Ignored by waiter multiple times, even trying to flag him down. 4) Were not given any silverwear until the main course. See #3 - Tried to get silverwear and was ignored. 4b)Silverwear was dirty and had foot still on them. 4 out of 5 forks were this way. 5) When the waiter did come, he never asked how we were, simply just coming in, taking plates. It was a shock to get a refill. 6) Subpar food for the second time. During our second visit, we also saw three other tables express frustration at our waiter for forgotten food and issues with service. Management does not seem to even care about the issues with the waitstaff and or the lack of restaurant issues.

I work in Avalon park and have driven by this place several times and had also had friends tell us about the great specials that were always going on. My boyfriend and I went with another couple on Sunday night around 630. The four of us were seated at our own hibachi table and we all ordered the hibachi special which was chicken, steak, and shrimp for $13.99 which is a really good price. It came with onion soup and ginger salad, along with veggies, fried rice, and noodles. It was so good! Along with the $13.99 deal, you can get just shrimp or steak for $10.99 but for $3 more you get everything so it's kind of hard to say no! Service was pretty good, minus the one or two times where our water glasses were empty a bit longer than they should have been. At the end of our meal, the hibachi chef had saved a few pieces of meat and tossed a piece into each of our mouths! Then, because we had all caught the food, he gave us sake shots straight from the bottle. (I can understand this may not be for everyone because some might not enjoy those sorts of games in the middle of a meal but we thought it was great!) Definitely would eat here again. Thursday nights are supposed to be ladies night (something like $7 or $10 all you can drink beer, wine, and sake)

Walked into this place for the first time with my wife and daughter on a saturday night around 830 PM-we walked out 5 minutes later after we were ignored by every staff member in the place. To be honest-I have no idea what the food tastes like, nor do i care what it tastes like. The fact that we stood there and nobody-not even the lady at the register by the front door even acknowledged us, is extremely indicative of their service. I could understand if the place was slammed and people were waiting around and it in some way could be linked to confusion-but we were the only people in the lobby area. There is no excuse for service like this in a service industry restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone-period.

Great alternative to Kobe's! We had the hibashi; which, quite honestly, you go to one, you've gone to all. The food and pricing were comparable to Kobe's. From the bar, I got one of their speciality drinks based on Midori and vodka that I enjoyed very much. I really appreciated that it came in a tall glass. The ambiance is modern and clean. The bar is very energetic and is always busy. I only walked by the sushi bar (not my thing) which was full with patrons eating very eye-appealing dishes. Someone else posted about the service being slow or inattentive. I would point out that the place has not been open long. Our visit was quite the contrast and I observed serves constantly swooshing by with something.

Overall, I am a fan of Bayridge. They have a wide variety of offerings, and everything there is excellent. My personal favorite, if dining at the hibachi grill, is the Scallops.. YUMMY! Sushi-wise, you can't go wrong with the Mad Max Roll. There are a few kinks that need to be worked out. First off, the service is SLOW. Having been here now more than once, each drink order takes at least 20 minutes alone. I must have waited at least that long for a single glass of water last night. Our wait staff tends to be out of sight usually.. but too far out of sight when we are dangerously low. Secondly, the reservation system NEEDS improvement. One time when we dined here was with a group of friends (7 people total). So I went online to make a reservation; lo and behold, when our party of 7 arrived, the hostess didnt have our reservation! The manager was called over, and the manager had to read an email on my iPhone to see I had made a reservation. The manager then asked me "Did you receive a call confirming your reservation?" to which I truthfully replied "No." His response after that was essentially an "oops, my bad".. but then he proceeded to immediately seat us, which was a nice tradeoff! My biggest complaint is what I experienced last night. It's great for restaurants to host fundraisers or special events.. but last night, my husband and I came out for dinner to be greeted by a bouncer (on a Tuesday?!?!) for NAKED SUSHI NIGHT. SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!! I was absolutely appalled and horrified that a restaurant where children frequently dine with their parents, a restaurant that faces a large park where children play would have naked/scantily clad women lying around with sushi on them! What's worse is the uproar this has caused by the rest of the community! There are people out there more horrified than I am! In my opinion, this was a very poor judgement call on behalf of whomever is responsible for managing Bayridge.

Great food and great prices! We try to come here during happy hour, which is everyday from 3-6pm for food. The spicy tuna roll & spicy salmon roll on their happy hour menu are both ginormous! My favorite sushi roll off their menu is the Jalapeno Tuna Roll, which is not on the happy hour menu, but is delish. If I don't make it to happy hour, I usually end up ordering this roll by itself. I also really like the black bean sea bass appetizer and their squid ("ika") salad. Everything else on their menu is pretty good, too; there was one week when my husband and friends came here 4 times. Service and ambiance here is good, too; nothing too fancy but nice enough to have a sit-down dinner at. Hibachi which we've tried twice is comparable to other hibachi places - nothing special or above average in service/food; we normally sit either in the bar area, other dining area near the sushi bar, or at the outside tables. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants to go to!

While visiting my children in Orlando I took them for dinner to this new Japanese restaurant. Prices were quite attractive as other similar restaurants in the area are much higher. Sushi was fresh, love the shrimp tempura roll and the made to order hand rolls. Service needs some help and I spoke to manager regarding the time it took to be served. He was extremely patient and he gave us a large free sake and gave us one of our rolls for free. I think with some more time I should be able to upgrade them as the food was excellent. We will definetly go back.
