If I could give this place a million stars I would! I don't even know where to start on how fabulous this place is! We just moved across country and have no family; that being said we just found a new second family! The service is OUTSTANDING, I have zero complaints. Other places can take a lesson from here on how to manage and serve. Automatic 15% gratuity? Absolutely! Probably the first and only time I've ever been ok with this, these folks deserve every penny. Is the food a little pricey? I don't think you can put a price on home cooked authentic German food. When I lived in Berlin I went to a butcher shop who made meals to order and they were exactly like this so I'm not sure how much more authentic you can get. Justine was an amazing server! The owner Ernie (Opa) came over and sat with us for a while and told us stories! And at the end of our meal we were surprised with free apple schnapps shots! Did I mention they started us with a free sample of the split pea (it's hard to make this unique but they make it soooo amazing!) and the goulash. My boyfriend hates vegetables but even he couldn't put the spoon down. We both agreed that next time we come were getting a ton of goulash! I had the German meatballs with sauerkraut and fried potatoes. I literally licked my plate clean with a slice of bread & Ernie came and applauded me on the back. My boyfriend got the Wiener schnitzel, & I have no idea how or what the spices were but they were a combination from heaven. The spätzel was light, fluffy & delicious, not chewy like most people mess up on it. We were so so so stuffed and sad we didn't have room for dessert but that apfelstrudel is definitely in our near future! You'll find us at one of the next live band nights!!

Service was nice, but not good. They were out of several things (which is ok) but wanted to up charge for a substitution. Food is overpriced and just ok. The price is actually up to $5 more then the menu that's uploaded here.

Authentic German food in Orlando! From the Rouladen mit Red Cabbage und boiled potatoes, to the Jaegerschnitzel mit Rottkraut und Spaetzel mit Rahm sauce ...everything was perfect! The breads were thick and hearty. And the best part? The OWNER COMES OVER WITH APPLE SCHNAPPS SHOTS! The place is cozy...With decorations everywhere. Live accordion music added to the ambiance. What a gem!

Never a bad meal at this place. I eat here quite often and the owner, Barbara is always friendly. Tonight, she was doing the chicken dance with some guests. She always makes you feel at home. I love this place! If you haven't been here, you're missing out.

Cooks are not German. Although the owner is. The absolute worst schnitzel ever. When I inquired why some of the dishes didn't smell quite right, the waitress said the owner was in the kitchen "getting a treatment" WHAT? If you think this is what German food should taste like, no. Real German food cooked by a GOOD German cook is much, much better. Place is old and grimy, dirty used books on a table, and dusty.

Wow, wow, wow. Not only are you immediately engulfed in Germanic decor, but german music and the language. I started with a bowl of goulash that changed my opinion on goulash. It was damn good. Then I had the "gypsy steak" (not bad) with cheese spätzel (good if you like spätzel) and mashed potatoes that could have been a delicious concrete. Throw a liter of black beir on top of that und you're set! They don't have a bar top so if you come alone, deal with it because my lord, this place rocks.

I lived in Germany for over 3 years so I was excited to find a German restaurant close to home. I was not happy at all with this place. The meal wasn't good, we had the Schnitzel it wasn't good, the potato pancakes tasted like last weeks and they just warmed it up. The Schnitzel was $17.95.. Totally not worth it, the old dry potato pancakes were $7.00, not worth it. On the table in huge letters stood a sign 15% gratuity automatically added to your bill. So if food and service wasn't good they still get a tip. Not right in my opinion. The music playing sounded like I was on the Congo and not in Germany. I think they had way tooooo much stuff on the walls and everywhere. Needless to say we won't be back and we will find another German restaurant.

We loved their schnitzel and potato pancake. Barbara was very welcoming & made us feel at home. Service was great. It is very personalized and homey. This is better than your typical dining experience. Ask for Barbara's homemade applesauce! We would recommend this place & will return

I have been to many German restaurants and this is by far one of the best! The Jaegerschnitzel was cooked perfectly, the Spaetzle tasted home made and they had a decent selection of German beers. The owner came out to check on each patron and is an extremely fun an wonderful person! The next time I am in town, this a a definite must!! Danke für das wunderbares Essen!

Fabulous food and a warm family atmosphere - I feel like I'm having dinner at my grandmothers house again, and I love it (and miss her)! We will definitely be back, and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who was looking for a German restaurant!

This review comes to you in German, courtesy of the three years I took in high school, in which nothing was learned. Highlights in English -- Some kind of white sausage, part of the Bavarian feast. Amazing. Old man played accordion while we ate. Gigantic-as-you-like, delicious German beers. A lot of crazy crap on the walls producing an atmosphere like no other. Mismatched decor and table settings, making it feel just like Grandma's house (only true if your Grandma was German or, as mine was, Polish). A starting basket o' bread-so-delicious. Long, narrow tables like Thanksgiving dinner.

We were flying out of Orlando and staying a hotel in the area. Used yelp to find something non-fast food. This place was great. It doesn't look like much from the outside. But inside you'll feel like you were transported to a Bavarian inn. The service was ok. She was the only waitress and a little understaffed. But she did a good job. The food was excellent. We'll be back !!

Really enjoyed the sauerbraten and they also gave me a sample of split pea soup that was delicious. The service was great and there were even a group of German students on holiday and they said it was authentic and like back home.

We had a great dinner here. The interior decor is very interesting and so is the seating. A mix of large round and long rectangular tables like they are having a big family reunion. It looks odd at first but it all works well together. We had very friendly and attentive service. The potato pancakes were wonderful as was the German potato salad. The Bavarian Feast (Bratwurst, Knockwurst, and Weisswurst) was all high quality and well seasoned. It really came across as a home cooked meal. Just wish they had a pretzel appetizer and some additional German beer selections. We have passed by this place many times but never stopped in because it doesn't look like anything special from the outside. Seems like Yelp reviewers either love or hate this place - count me in as the former. So glad we gave it a try. We will be back!

WORTH THE TRIP! The soups are wonderful, the atmosphere is unique and the people are so friendly. Goulash soup and gluwein are amazing. Lunch is great too. German hamburgers with potatoes and all the extras are under $10. Highly recommend this place. Wunderbar!

This is the best German place! They provided the food for a celebration at work and it was delicious! If you get a chance meet the owner Barbera, she's a true world citizen a an absolute treasure! Try the dark beer and enjoy the home like feel.

Food gets a star and the service gets a star. However, upon walking in I had to peel my feet off the sticky floors. When turned the corner to make my way to my seat, it appeared the owner robbed a German Cracker Barrel and decorated the place. Some tables were covered in nick nacks and the place had an overall dirty feel to it. Overall, I left feeling creeped out about their cleaning habits and felt the place was very overrated.

  • Liz D.

Floors are still sticky, and my son's food was definitely reheated. Potato pancakes were good, gravy and spatzle and noodles were wonderful. Only one price different on the menu then on the check. Nog sure we are going back, I kept waiting for Gordon Ramsay to pop out of the back filming kitchen nightmares.

The atmosphere and beer are good but the prices on the menu are wrong and you will be charge for more than what the menu reflects

When it comes to food and restaurants, Orlando has a great variety of some of the tastiest food from all over the world. Unfortunately German food is becoming a dying breed in Central Florida. If you want a taste and you are craving some good old fashioned and hearty German food then head over to Bauern Stube. Bauern Stube translated means "Farmhouse-Parlor", and that is exactly what you will find upon arrival to the restaurant. It's a slice right out of old Germany. When you enter inside you will feel like you are a guest at a German farmhouse. My wife, who has been to Germany and actually has a 100% authentic German grandmother told me it reminded her of a Gasthaus. Inside you will see some entertaining items. Bauern-Stube is decorated with a wild display of tourist books, wind chimes, cuckoo clocks, stuffed birds, fir-tree garlands and posters from old Germany. At Bauern Stube if you are German or ever been to Germany..you will feel right at home. If you are not from Germany or never have been, you will certainly feel like a welcomed guest in a great Gasthaus. The service was very prompt and courteous. The owners always make a point to stop at every table to greet you and make you laugh and feel welcomed. Baurn Stube is truly a hidden gem in Orlando!! "Wenn Sie einige gute Deutsch-Lebensmittel zu bekommen Bauern Stube" (If you want some good German food get to Bauern Stube)

Ok, so I know a lot of people liked this place. I liked the kitsch and the food was decent-ish. But the wait staff was horribly (not even in a funny way) rude, there was a rank smell coming from the kitchen, there is standard 15% gratuity on every tab (so, why be nice?), and the entrees were extremely overpriced. The waitress even asked us what beer we wanted, ran away before asking the size, and then brought something else saying they were out of what we ordered and we will drink that. We will not be returning.

Very German. The décor is basically the contents of someone's basement mixed with a 1960's yard sales. Don't get me wrong I love the look. When we went, however, we were the only people in the place (and this was dinner hour on a Thursday). This made the décor more ax-murdery than charming, but I'm sure the place fills up when they have live music on Friday/Saturdays. The food- good! Our server gave us samples of soups and spreads to try and was very helpful when we had questions. My Bratwurst was just ok, but the sauerkraut was amazing. My husband got the beef tips- so good! They came out with a spice and mustard tray that he had quite the time inventing with. The best part was the beer (shocking). They just have "types" not really brands- I think about 4 total. Our server asked what we liked and we ordered pints. So authentic and delicious. It was odd however, she brought out a notebook and pencil and asked for our review right then. At this point another gentleman had wandered in and was eating behind us. When we were done without review she gave him the notebook too, but on the same page so he could read what we wrote... what if we railed on the place? You want other patron reading that?

  • Courtney C.

Actually, the food is damn amazing here. However, the server overcharged our bill by about 20 dollars (even WITH the %15 included gratuity) and then charged me and my friends card the wrong amounts and said she "wasn't able to void it." Also, if you change the prices of the things on your menu drastically... Go print some new menus. All in all.. I wanted to like this place but the way that we got scammed at the end... Just awful.

We always have fun here. Ãœber kitschy German atmosphere, warm welcoming management (mostly), and children's play area make for a fun and entertaining family thing to do. I must say, however, the 15% mandatory tip is a bit odd, the small European style portions leave me wondering why I didn't have to ask for the ice in my water, and the prices are steep enough to limit repeat visits.

Great place...beats most German places easily...the traditional aspects and the man playing accordian was really nice. The food was nearly perfect...The Weiner Schnitzel was a little too over seasoned and not crispy enough...might have been cooked at too low a temperature. The spatzle was nice but seemed a little too fluffy maybe? Everything else was flawless..red cabbage...breads on the table amazing, black forest cake, nice strong coffee served in a nice china cup and saucer. weihenstephaner unspecified weiss!(krystal is my guess) WILL BE BACK!

One word: awesome! Walking into Bauern-Stube, I was amazed how quickly walking into the place quickly made me feel as though I was walking into a German home. There were cute decorations everywhere, and the tables and chairs were that of a cute home. Already I was liking this German joint. The lady who served us was super friendly. Since she knew we had never been there before, she was very patient into telling us about the different sorts of food they had to offer. Dinner was great, everyone loved their meal. The portions were pretty big that no one was able to finish it all! MMmm leftovers! Overall, great experience. Great beer. and each of us at the table were given a free shot of apple schnapps. It was delicious and yes, I did lick the rest out of the glass. haha

Service was pretty bad. Apps came out after our food. Was asked if we wanted to see the the dessert menu but were then ignored for almost 10min. Instead asked for the check and waited another 10min for the bill. I didn't even look the check over and just handed the waitress my card. I then waited yet another 10min. Apparently the paper ran out of the machine. We ordered 2 $16 plates and 2 potato pancakes with 2 glasses of water. Our bill was $49, seems like a lot even with the 15% tip they tack on automatically. I've lived in the area for a long time and always wanted to try this place. Tonight my girl and I went and when we walked in we were immediately impressed, it looks like a little German house inside. We really wanted to like this place, its near our house and it has a lot of character. Unfortunately I'll never be back.

Thank you for amassing experience! Service, food, atmosphere, everything was like we dine in Europe. I wish there is more places like these one. It should bee one of must go destinations. Goulash soup is like one I had in Germany or Hungary and thank you for bringing those flavors in US. See you next time, please stay the same!

We went inside and was excited they had live German music the server greeted us with a big smile. Very nice. She seated us and we were one of three tables. We asked if the had a gluten free menu, The server responded with " I don't know this is just my second day I will ask the owner. Then the owner came to our table. She said she talked with an expert who was of the highest level who told her gluten intolerance did not exist and we were all stupid. If we insisted on gluten free food then she had a can of gluten free dog food she would open up and serve us". Needles to say we left

This is a run down German place on the corner of Orange and Sandlake, in Pine Castle. Definately felt like I was being welcomed into some crazy Aunt's house for dinner. The front of the restaurant, like where you'd check in, is knee deep in "stuff". Tchotchke's galore; but not sure if any are for sale... The dining room is open, with round tables against the walls and retangular in the middle. There is a kids play on the back wall, and the owners always greet kids with a special welcome and a special something to keep; one time bubbles and the other a crossword puzzle book. The menu is fairly large, and is very authentic. The breads brought to the table are amazing, and we take the bread leftover home to freeze for later. Everytime that we've come here, everyone has gone home happy and full.

I remember coming here years ago and I absolutely loved it. I remember sitting at a long bench/table with my friends (the only people in the restaurant at the time), drinking beer out of a liter-sized mug, conversing happily with the older woman that apparently ran the place with her husband (now deceased, sadly). Great food, GREAT beer, and about a million little German odds and ends crowding the walls and vying for your attention. Walking in for the first time in so long, it immediately felt like my memory had done it justice. The haze of my memory cleared and it looked pretty much exactly as I remembered it (although quite a bit more crowded this time!), and I was really excited to be there again. Lots of people with lots of tall beers, German odds and ends covering the walls, and a man with an accordion. My wife had made a reservation the day before (we were a group of 5), and upon arrival we were told that the hostess "didn't have any reservations", so obviously that system is working out nicely for them. Luckily they had an open table that was big enough for us and we didn't have to wait, so the issue was quickly forgotten. Our waitress was excellent and the service was really good. My wife (who had decided ahead of time that she wasn't going to like anything here) enjoyed her marinated beef dish, and overall I really liked the Bavarian Feast (bratwurst, knockwurst, and weisswurst) with spatzle and sauerkraut. My only problem was that I expected the sausages to be more heavily seasoned than they were. I ate them happily, but it seemed like there was nothing to them -- kind of like if you went to a hot dog cart widely known for having the Best and Most Flavorful Hot Dogs in All the Land, and what you received was just a boiled Oscar Meyer. Okay not THAT bad, but you get my drift. Nonetheless I had a great meal, finishing everything in front of me (including the towering liter of Kostritzer). If it had ended there... well, I wish it had ended there. Instead we got a visit from Ernie, who I think is a co-owner (?) but apparently also sells garage doors. He's from South Carolina, and immediately after introducing himself he FORCED a political conversation, starting a barrage of comments that would offend just about any reasonable person. It's not a partisan thing either, far from it -- his comments were so inflammatory and wildly innacurate that it shouldn't matter what side of the fence you fall on. Most who agree with his political affiliation would be ashamed to have him on their side (much like I would think a normal Christian might view the Westboro Baptist Church), and those who don't agree with his politics dare not say anything because they would be afraid that they wouldn't be allowed back in the restaurant. After hearing him out about how the current president is exactly the same as another leader that condemned millions of his own people to death in forced labor camps, Ernie thankfully left us to finish up and pay our bill. Thirty seconds later, the speech was starting again at the table right next to us. Funny, I remember him saying right at the beginning, "They told me not to talk about this but it's just too important...." You should have listened, Ernie. You're lucky I didn't let you ruin my meal.

You can totally drive past this place and not give it a second thought as some kind of sleezy dive restaurant. It Doesn't look like much on the outside....and when you walk in and see that it looks like an ADHD bavarian kid was given the keys to the decorators closet, but it carry's a certain homey charm. The food is amazing. It's like walking into the owners living room, and she greets you and treats you as such. WARNING: Owner is a total sweetheart and VERY friendly. Definitely everyone's German Grandmother, so if you are introverted or don't like hearing stories of old town, may not be the best place for you...but it adds a makes the place work! I have eaten a lot of German and found this food to be excellent! True German is not intricate, it depends on mixing bold flavors!

As advertised: gruff, impersonal service (entertaining though it was), excellent and apparently authentic food and an extremely interesting decor. My only real issue, and it's big enough for me to skew their ratings, was the seemingly false advertising. The beer, for instance, which is mislabeled on the menus. They print that a 1/2 pint is $5-something, but then they charged $6-something. When I noted the discrepancy, the waitress told me it was too expensive to print new menus just because the prices went up. ¿Que? She then proceeded to wave her hands around the dining room, telling us that it was on notices hanging all over the room. Except, after looking around, there were none.

Went here with a couple friends last night. I used to go this location when I was in high school and it was a pizza hut. I like the decor, especially the books. To start off I had the Venison stew which was in a light beef broth, kinda tasty. Also had a huge 1 liter mug of Oktoberfest beer, my favorite. See the pictures I've posted here. Had the Sampler platter which was about 27 dollars. It had the hugest piece of pork you've ever seen(see pic), with a nice layer of fat still attached to the side of it. It was like a ham steak you'd have with breakfast but 4 times as thick. It was kinda tasty but there is no way you could eat the whole thing. It also had a white bratwurst which was decent and a good sized piece of schnitzel which was good. Also there was a small piece of rolled up beef in gravy, this was probably the tastiest item on the plate. My favorite thing was the honey mustard they had on the table, I dipped everything in it and it was delicious. I asked where they got it and she said probably Aldi, but I went there today and they didn't have the same one. It was very dark and grainy but also sweet. I'll have to go back and explore some other dishes.

Queer isn't it? For its overall rating, this place sure doesn't get too many YELPS - or follow up YELPs! Stopped in for lunch; mainly because off the $4.25 lunch sign out front and it is near the Post Office - i.e. next destination. I'm lunch crowd table #4 and yet #2 for solo dinners. (not very crowded!) This decor is without a doubt a slice of the real "homeland". I find German decor hippy-busy & electric. Its about the fun things in life. To hell with central themes or design! The music helps with the bipolar vibe really nice too. Sorta loud for me at lunch time, but not too bad. (without BEERS tho - yeah, wtf was I thinking' doing German w/o brews?) Perhaps it is the music genre? Oh well, the "signage special" doesn't deserve the ink to get in print- so your sexy sorta German (?) waitress has to repeat all the snau-sague combos for ya. Thats okay, my hearing wasn't as bad as I let on- it was the gay German music influence I'm certain that made me a little obnoxious. Started out with the Potato Pancake (1) with Applesauce and Sour Cream. Taste with the sour cream is very subtle and well, okay. Added salt and okay went to "good stuff". Even with a tad of the applesauce smudged on. Texture, is not their target, as this entree is squarley on the gummy side of the spectrum. You can leave your choppers at home for this one. I asked what the diff. was between the Brautwurst and Knockwurst (the "other" sausage choice) and well that Q stumped the help. The cook says I just cook it. Sexy waitress had to do a consult with the owners (I presume) only to learn they both have veal and pork - one just has mo seasonings. I go with the mo seasoned Knockwurst & red cabbage. Ole Knockwurst was tasty and the casing was (I'm sure) an example of perfection for the snappy-crunch with each bite. The red cabbage has a very lite sprinkling of "pickling spice" similar to seasonings I associate with the holidays. Allspice, cinnamon, ginger... Okay good. 15% tip is added to the bill even for solo groups (oxymoron?) - but I still bumped it more just trying to help out. W/o a drink on the bill I still managed to spend $9.50 for the $4.25 special draw-in! ) You know damn it, I think it's time to go have the Dark Brew I so longed for during lunch!

Stopped in for a quick lunch on the way to the airport--was right at the end of lunch service so almost had the place to myself, but got quick, friendly service and enjoyed my meal. Had a potato pancake and bratwurst with potatoes, both of which were tasty and reasonably priced. The little complimentary schnapps and guest book presented at the end of my meal added a cozy touch. Was glad I came in--certainly beats the fast food joints and airport options, and was very convenient to rental car returns. Would return!

The place is a bit dated but comes off as a cozy authentic German restaurant. The food is pretty pricey. I ordered the Bavarian Feast (3 sausages) for $16.99. It was okay but definitely not homemade or freshly made. The water tasted like it came from a water hose. The staff was very friendly--we were the only ones in there for lunch. I started lunch with a cucumber salad. It basically is 3-4 oz of cucumbers cubed and covered in a white sauce (vinegar, mayo, pepper and basil). I thought I try a potato pancake from the side order menu. It was a 5 inch potato pancake ($6.95) that also came with sour cream and apple sauce to spread on it. The pancake was okay but for the price would not recommend it. For dessert I ordered the apple strudel. It came out pretty quick steaming hot. It was obviously microwaved. The outer dough was soggy ( like when you microwave frozen bread too long). No flaky Bavarian crust on this strudel! There is a mandatory 15% tip added AFTER tax! Nice place, very nice people but the food is not something I would associate with authentic German food.

I have never had such an AMAZING experience anywhere! I walked in looking for dinner and left with family! They make you feel welcome!! The food is amazing, and they will tell you exactly what to indulge in! I would make the drive from south Florida to return here!

Great german place near my warehouse. I go there for lunch sometimes because the lunch specials are reasonable, tha kitchen's pretty quick, and tha server's a sweetheart. Check that bill, though, and be prepared for a 15% autograt. In the end, you're gonna end up payin about tha same amount for carelessly prepared chow from an underpaid kitchen staff at any of tha surrounding fast food joints anyway. Atmosphere only a german could love. It's like eating at grandma's house. I get tha meatballs and potato salad. It's pretty close to authentic. Can't nobody cook anything as well as grandma did, right? It's close, though. Tha server asked if i wanted tha potato salad hot or cold, which is a nice touch. Hopin to swing through some time for dinner and beir and live music, hopefully next time tha parents come through.

WARNING: Double check your bill before you pay. I was overcharged by almost $10 on a plate I ordered. When I asked the waitress about it she said they had raised their prices and the menus have yet to be changed. Yeeeah... I was excited to try this place based on the Yelp reviews and because they have a vegetarian menu. Turns out most of what is on the Veggie menu has some form of meat in it. The food was not amazing, service was unbearably slow and the intermittent waft of raw sewage coming from the bathrooms didn't help the situation. All together a pretty horrible experience.

They DO treat you like family. Granted, we came at 5:15 on a Saturday and were pretty much the first ones there (place filled pretty quickly when we left at around 6:30). But three of them came by and had a chat with us, very friendly. The food was good. I only had the Linsensuppe, as I wasn't really hungry, but I tried my friend's Rouladen and Sauerbraten, both were good. I would definitely come back.

Let me premise this by saying I normally hate German food. It's too heavy for my taste and usually leaves me with this i ate a hippopotamus feeling in my stomach. This place has single handedly changed my mind. When you walk in the first thing that crosses your mind is that some German gift shop exploded and all the knick knacks ended up here. I looked past this however because a dear friend had ranted about how awesome this place is. He also had warned that the owner is very aggressive with her guests occasionally. If you catch her on a bad day this means she will modify your order and possibly insult you. I however caught her on a good day, so after I luckily provided her with change for a large bill she couldn't break she treated me and my companion to kisses on the cheek and free cake. The kiss may seem a little over the top for some, but to me it just showed me what a down to earth place this was and it sealed the deal for me to return. Now to the food, everything we ordered was great. We both had some type of cutlet, chicken or veal. Served with our choice of vegetables. I will say the cucumber salad I had left a little to be desired. Our cake was also delicious, we had 2 different flavors and they both were pleasing. Given my usual aversion to German food I will say I haven't been back yet, however, if someone else were in the mood for it I wouldn't put on my usual grimacing anti-German food face on. That to me makes this place A-Okay

Ok so I've been here twice and I don't if my palate its not use to German food or this is the way Germans really enjoy their food but I have not found anything to be tasty at this place aside from the potato cakes. In both occasion I have been here we have probably tried about 5-6 different dishes ranging from sausages, pork shoulder, schnitzel, home made noddles etc and I we just have not found anything that would make us come back. I really wanted to Like this place, it is always nice to have another option for yummy food but I just don't even enjoy the stone cold complementary bread. Everything just taste super bland for me and really no flavors standout that I can recall from any of the dishes I've had here. As I mentioned the only thing that I've liked is the potato pancakes, even the schnitzel which I had high hopes for was terribly bland. I might give it another try but at this point my hopes for a good tasty dish are pretty dim.

Best German food I've had since Germany, the wife can be a bit cranky at times, but it actually makes me miss Berlin... they were the same way there. However once they get to know you, you're like family. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is reminisent of a place in Garmisch my wife and I used to go to regualarly, big tables, lot's of beer and great fun. the soups are very hearty, and the main dishes are rich and volumtuously presented. can be a bit pricey, however for the food, and knowing what goes into making it, well worth the pinch in the pocket... And what else can I say... THE BEER IS AWESOME!!!

Absolutely terrible. I think this is my first 1 star review on Yelp, and this place totally deserved it. We walked in, and were graciously greeted by a very nice woman. We knew we were only there for coffee and cake (my husbands birthday). We placed our order and she said "that's all?" Yes, just coffee and cake please. "Alright then." We knew she was annoyed that we only ordered coffee and cake, but when did it become necessary to order a full entree? I know the economy is suffering, but seriously? I'm still a paying customer. Coffee comes out.... luke warm. Ugh. Black forest cake comes out (tiny piece for the price). Also, the cake, wasn't even that good. We finish the terrible coffee and cake and the bill comes. We knew in advance that the bill would have a 15% tip included on the bill, which is fine. However, she also raised the prices of the coffee and the cake from what is stated on the menu. I paid in cash, no way was I giving that lady my credit card. I just paid the bill and left, knowing I could at least get some of my frustration out by writing this review on Yelp. We drove all the way from Tampa to come here because of the black forest cake (my husband's favorite). What a disappointment. Obviously we won't be back.

Whoooboy, did we enjoy this restaurant! I just wish we had come with a large group of friends, because that would be the best way to enjoy the Bauern-Stube, I think. However, we didn't lack friends for long, because the owner made sure we met other diners, and we enjoyed our conversations with them. Food was fantastic, filling, authentic, and adventurous. I can't wait to go back. I had the biggest piece of pork I have ever had served to me, and I did NOT do it justice. So sorry....will have to try again. The waitress knows her food, and her beer, and she was very helpful. The goulash soup was yummy. Next time, I might just a little restraint and try the pea soup before ordering anything more, thus leaving room for dessert.

I generally love German food...it's hearty and simple. My dish, which was two sausages, arrived cold. The saurkraut was great, as was the red cabbage, but the spatzal and gravy was soggy and ishy...as in "Ich bin krank" ishy. The place was packed with drunks celebrating since Octoberfest, but the server did her best to keep things moving. I hate it when restaurants seat you at a greasy table and hand you a greasy menu...STOP IT! TIP: Ditch the awkward seat cushions, or whatever they are, because they are a tripping hazard. 15% gratuity is tacked onto all bills, which is fine, but it's unusual to see this across the board. Finally, our $100 dollar bill was refused (the owner, who is a German woman, implied it was fake) presumably because it was old and tattered? Who knows, but that kinda stuff reminds me of the poor customer service I've received in Europe over the years, let's not introduce that nonsense here. I concluded the place to be dirty, LOUD, over priced, mediocre food and sketchy customer service.

Accordion player on Friday night. It's pretty dark but very much decorated like a German Gasthaus. We were met with a very knowledgeable waitress who explained what was especially good on the menu. I had the schnitzel with spaetzel. Oh, how I love spaetzel....Hubby had the sausage platter. Food is pretty authentic so I would recommend this restaurant; it's just as the other reviews described it. That is what brought us here. Afterwards, we had the chocolate cake! Well, I had the chocolate cake and hubby got a bite or two. Restrooms are adorned with old postcards and photos. There is a plastic wardrobe that houses several bright colored dirndle dresses. If I would have had a few bier's, I think I would have snuck out one of the dirndl's and stepped out of the restroom in style. hahah!

Authentic? Perhaps as an old East German restaurant, (i.e. terrible tasteless food). I'm quite familiar with German food, having lived and traveled in Germany for nearly 40 years. The food was not only tasteless but poorly executed and wrong on so many accounts; (Jäger Schnitzel is never breaded). Many items, red cabbage, green beans, etc seemed like they came out of a can/jar. They only thing that was authentic was the beer. Don't waste your time and money.

Every once in a while I stop by Bauern-Stube. They are what they claim to be on their website: a simple place to relax, enjoy home-cooked food, and enjoy some beer. It's the perfect recipe for a relaxing evening and a good night's rest. The menu is in German and English, don't fret, just take your time, I do when I go there, and I know the foods that I want... I recommend this restaurant, but beware, it does get a little pricey if you have a lot to drink. Gratuity is included, so you don't have to figure it out once you get the bill. The restroom could be cleaned a little better, but that's part of Old World charm (besides, I don't go to a restaurant to use the restroom, though it becomes necessary when drinking lots of alcohol).

Heaven for a weary traveler. I came back after stumbling across it 2.5 years ago on a business trip. You must go. Best atmosphere anywhere in Florida. Made me feel at home and the individual linen napkins and embroidered sear cushions are the finishing touches on a remarkable interior that put the drab exterior to shame. Succulent kaller, savory red cabbage, perfect German beer, and a satisfying complrntary schnapps desert. Truly a gem!

Hubby was jonesing for some down home German food while we were vacationing in Orlando so we scoured the interwebs and found that Bauern-Stube was not too far away. We hightailed it over there. Unfortunately, we were 15 minutes too late. The door was locked and the restaurant closed. BUT. But, the very nice woman working there, saw our crestfallen faces, took pity on us and let us in! There were only a few people left, the accordion player was about to quit, but she seated us and gave us menus anyway. Bless this wonderful woman and bless the cook in the kitchen who served us a hearty, stick-to-your-ribs, man-that-really-hit-the-spot, home-style, German dinner. The evening was filled with conversation with the owners who were gracious and charming and offered so much hospitality that we were each given tree ornaments (this was December) just because. Odd and unexpected but not off-putting. The decor is a mishmash of this 'n that or knick knacks and bric-a-brac. Stuff everywhere but oddly charming. The beer selection is decent and served our purposes. I will say that the food was good. Better than fine and better than just ok but not great. But, to us, everything else made up for it. The musician kept playing and not once did the owners try to hurry us up or shoo us out. Charming.

My boyfriend and I had visited the Willilow Tree several times, and were recently told about this place so we decided to try it. The food was delicious! Willow tree is also good, but this place has a much more authentic feel to it. Like going over to your German grandmother's house for dinner. My boyfriend, who lived in Germany for a few years raved about their jager schnitzel. You definitely should try it at least once, you won't regret it. We'll definitely be bringing his German mother here next time she visits.

Umm... this place is gross. The "clean" dishes are greasy, it smells like bathroom and I witnessed a waitress drop a potato pancake on the ground, pick it up and put it back on the plate. I don't care how good beer is... don't eat here!

This place looks like a shack from the outside. Inside its pretty charming, with an accordionist playing all night. The owners are a married couple and the guy flirted with my 70 year old mother which we found hilarious. His wife gave us Easter stickers. As for the food, it was pretty good - not amazing - but this place is still worth a visit!

I never thought I'd say this -- one of my new favorite places is a German restaurant in South Pine Castle! Bauern-Stube has been in town for twenty-four years, twelve of them at their current location just north of the Orange Avenue-Sand Lake Road intersection. Inside, the place is like your eccentric great-aunt's home, the one who has been collecting kitsch and placing it around her living room since WWII. There are tables and benches, each one with a different little soft pillow for you to sit on; and I think every cloth napkin in the place is different (not that I took inventory). The surroundings are almost too much to take in. Julia, or "Jules" was the waitress and seemed to be running the place for lunch. She knew her way around the menu and was very helpful. I was given an assortment of breads at the start, and then chose a cup of tasty goulash soup to begin with. There is a lunch menu, but you can also choose from the sizable dinner menu, which I did -- Liver Dumplings (Leberknodel). According to the menu it is a mixture of ground beef, liver, eggs, flour and seasonings. They were like two meatballs bigger than golf balls, and very delectable. The entree came with two sides, so I selected sauerkraut (warm) and spaetzle with melted cheese -- oh-my-oh-my! I chose a wonderful apple streudel with ice cream for dessert, which came with a complimentary dessert schnapps. I've lived here nearly forever and didn't know about Bauern-Stube until Yelp came through again!

As a German born, German food fanatic, any attempt at the food of the Motherland in the U.S. automatically starts off at two stars! That being said, I must say this was the worst german restaurant I've ever been to....and I've been to many. The highlight was the beer, which was a bit pricey but good. The food....from the kartoffeln to the schnitzel to the apfelstrudel was all below average. A thoroughly disappointing experience except for the uniquely authentic furnishings which made you feel like you had stepped into your german grandmothers living room.

This was my first visit and will be my last. The food was terrible and not up to other German restaurants I have visited. We started out with a potato pancake appetizer and it was as hard as a rock. I ordered a pork loin entree and my wife had a bratwurst entree. We ordered an assortment of sides including German noodles, potato salad, red cabbage, and sauerkraut. Everything was pretty mediocre absent of any taste. The potato salad wasn't even real German potato salad. To add insult to injury, check out was very slow. It took so long to get a check that my wife decided to leave and wait outside. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Not bad, but I would have enjoyed fresh asparagus and green beans and sauerkraut, rather than canned. Two persons for dinner (admittedly with a carafe of wine) was $113 (15% gratuity is added, not optional), so it's overpriced in my opinion, for what you get. The worst part is that the men's bathroom is simply horrific in it's smell and total lack of hygiene (we were seated right next to it). I would never consider going back.

We visited Bauern-Stube yesterday and enjoyed the experience. We ended up spending more than what we had wanted to for a Monday night, but than again we consumed quite a bit of alcohol and dessert as well! One reviewer below said something about this place looking like Hansel and Gretel's house....no way Hansel and Gretel in this day and age would live in some high tech candy land (possibly resembling the sleekness of the Apple Store). When I first entered the restaurant I immediately felt like I had entered the house of someone's crazy/ecclectic grandmother, the kind of old lady that never took down her Christmas ornaments, last updated her decor in the 1970's (there's wood paneling and cuckoo clocks), and uses mismatched table ware because as the years have worn some of her table ware has disappeared or been broken by those pesky grand kids of hers (maybe Hansel and Gretel). The place is cute, and the eccentricity is inviting. When you are seated the server brings a HUGE basket of bread...with about five different types of breads in it (we loved the fruit and nut bread, and the dark whole grain sliced bread). Along with REAL butter, and country crock, I assume the country crock is there because the bread is brought cold/room temperature (makes me sad), and the butter wouldn't melt otherwise (what a tease!). My husband claims that he "accidentally" ordered the liter of beer, the roommate ordered half a liter, and I had a glass of Riesling (I was thinking about half a carafe of the wine which is about three glasses and a better deal, but seeing as how one of us had to be responsible and drive home, I stuck to ordering by the glass. My husband decided to go for the gusto and ordered the sampler platter....It was huge, and almost 30$ But we (I sampled with him, and we still took leftovers home) did get to try almost everything of interest on the menu. The platter had Bratwurst,Wienerschnitzel, Eisbein (pork shank), Rouladen, and Hungarian Goulash. He got the mashed potatoes and a potato pancake (he is anti-cabbage) for his sides. We really enjoyed the bratwurst and the wiener, the goulash was awesome (tasted like my chicken fricassee!), the Pork shank was almost like a ham shank (probably the brine they marinate it in) and even the fat on it was buttery not chewy. But both my husband I agreed that the Rouladen just wasn't our style. He loved the mashed potatoes and the potatoes pancake (which came with sour cream and applesauce on the side), but I thought it was just a tad too greasy for me. I ordered on my own the Rouladen which is described on the menu as "Beef roll, sliced with Spices, Bacon and Onions" and is 16.95$. The description sounds amazing right? And it tasted good, but there was a particular spice blend that wasn't making me want to inhale it (I think it was a combo of coriander and nutmeg, smoke mixed with Christmas in my mouth). Either way the dish was not exactly what I was expecting it was two small rolls (see pics) which were about the size of a cocktail weenie with puff pastry on it (2 inches?), and it was covered in gravy. Those of you that may have read my other reviews know I don't like things soaking in heavy sauces or gravies. I didn't mind it too much on the meat, but did ask that the potatoes have the gravy on the side, but they also came slathered in the gravy. Either way I had a few bites of my rouladen and ignored it the rest of the night, and focused on the potatoes which were tasty, and the red cabbage which was delish! And of course on my husband's sample platter (he needed all the help he could get!). Towards the end of the meal the server (which I believe was the owner of the restaurant) came to our table to taunt us with her evil display of delicious desserts. So we succumbed and my husband, the roommate and I shared the apple strudel which came a la mode! The server also brought us three shots of the complimentary homemade schnapps with whipped cream on top (I overheard her tell another table that the schnapps contain berry juices, Riesling wine, and sierra mist), it is very sweet. Overall, we had a great experience and I would like to go back again. Danke! great service, needs warm bread, loved the complementary schnapps!

From a guy who admittedly is not a fan of German fare, I am elated to have discovered this little gem. A true slice of old Germany hidden away near downtown Orlando, this place is a favorite of locals and German expats alike, and for good reason. Their menu boasts an eclectic mix of the many flavors of Germany. You can taste the generations of skill and tradition in every bite. Everything from the bread to the accordian player rings of authenticity. I highly recommend the blackbeir with everything and trust your server's recommendations. You can tell they're intimately familiar with every dish that leaves the kitchen. The gypsy schnitzle was a surprise and a revelation.

Walking up to this place, it looks like a quaint house that was transplanted from a tourist section of Germany. There's an adorable patio outside and tiny touches of decor. Your first step in the door however, you get the feeling that if this was a house, whoever owned it was ze pack rat of all pack rats. There's German books, boots, pictures, maps...stuff hanging from the ceiling and on tables, it's everywhere I tell ya. Even the seats have what looks like hand made butt pillows for your ass like pleasure. We stopped in on a Monday night so it was really dead but there's tons of seating, I have a feeling this place can bring a crowd on weekends. My car had broken down earlier that day and I was more than ready for a pre-dinner beer, our waitress was happy to oblige! She suggested their oktoberfest beer for me, the Hacker - Pschorr, which came in a huge mug and hit the spot. My partner in crime had a Weiss, (cause he's a girly man) and it tasted exactly like blue moon, sans the orange slice. You also get a huge plate of complimentary bread so if you're a carb-a-holic, prepare yourself for glory. Appetizers: We ordered the Gurken Tomaten Salat which is a tomato cucumber salad with a tzatziki-esk sauce on it. Really fresh, light and summery. Also had the Linsensuppe (Lentil Soup) which also tasted really fresh and healthy although very beany. Main course: I got the Fleischkäse Angebraten or meatloaf with a fried egg for those of you who don't speak the language. It came with 2 sides, I chose the cheese spatzle and potato cakes. German food always tastes different than what I have predetermined in my head, this was no exception. The meatloaf had kind of a hot dog consistency but paired with the fried egg was good stuff. The spatzle was like a better version of mac n cheese and the potato cake was really good with some apple sauce on it. My friend got the Kassler Rippe Angeräuchert or smoked brine pork loin with sauerkraut, it tasted like bacon, yep you heard right. All in all this place has a great atmosphere, good food and great beer. And bonus, our waitress was above stellar, she even gave us a desert liquor shot on the house. Had a blast, will revisit :)

We made a visit to this little place and enjoyed our meal. It was home style quality german food, not fancy but good. The schnitzel was as good as you would make at home without the clean up. The red cabbage was good, I like mine a bit sweet but it was good over all. If you go in for a home style meal with a home style presentation you will not be disappointed.

This place looks like an old German cottage inside, I imagine it to be like eating at your German grandmother's house...it's very cozy and like eating at home. Ok, prepare yourself for this, you have the option to order a LITER of draft beer! It was wonderful, I could hardly lift the mug! I am not familiar at all with German food but I love all food so I eat everywhere. I ordered the meatloaf and they warned me that it is not like American meatloaf but more like bologna. It still sounded good and it was just as they described, served with an egg on top. SO GOOD!! And the spatzle I ordered on the side...MMMMMMM. I think we went around christmas 2008 because they went around to each table with an angel ornament and a cool flashing ice cube. And we each got a free shot of some kind of schnapps...cinnamon, I think with whipped cream on top. It was so good! There was live music with an accordian and the large party seated next to us got up and danced around. FUN! We plan to go back this weekend to celebrate Valentine's day, I can't wait!

This place made me completely forget that I'm in Orlando (sorry I'm from NYC and my perception of Orlando is Disney and chain restaurants). From the moment you step inside, it is truly a unique ambience: the old German cottage decor, the grey haired accordian player, the eclectic cloth napkins, long tables, and homey lighting changes your mood immediately. There is a kids corner with toys and a little table where our 2 and 4 yr old proceeded to have a quiet and happy meal, leaving us to drink our beers and almost have an adult night out eating...a really great meal- we had the beef brisket, the schnitzel, the potatoes and gravy, saurkraut, and noodles. Everything was tasty and surprisingly not too heavy. The dessert of chocolate and rasberry mouse and black forest cake was absolutely necessary and went down smoothly with the complementary schnapps. Service was exceptional, Julia was professional, friendly, attentive and too good to be a waitress. Just as we were being thankful for Yelp to have helped us find such a gem, suddenly, out of nowhere an older lady with a German accent appears and presents our children with beautiful handmade dolls to take home. Wow!?! A very pleasant night out for families, friends or couples.

My husband and I have been returning back to this restaurant every couple of months since we moved to Orlando about a year and a half ago. This place is the PERFECT place to get in-touch with your umami --- such savoriness! The servers here are always great and know their stuff. I have tried something different every time I have visited and not once have I been disappointed. I would highly recommend the cucumber salad to start (so delicious... sliced cucumbers mixed in with a dressing of sour cream, vinegar, and dill). Here is a great hint for those who leave with leftovers... warm them up in the oven in a cast iron skillet covered with foil and it will taste just as delicious as when you were first served it. I always make sure I have leftovers so I usually tend to order a little more than I can eat. German food is so underrated so I am incredibly happy that Orlando has this hidden gem.

So I've been to Hollerbach's in Sanford a few times now and recently a friend mentioned that there's another (gasp!) German restaurant in town and I should try it. So this weekend my wfie and I went to try this place out. The place is seriously like having dinner at Hansel and Gretel's house. Only Gretel serves massive glass steins of top quality german beer and Hansel is out back roasting some bad-ass brautwurst. The sauerkraut is the best I've ever had outside of Germany itself. We're defintely heading back here again soon.

My boyfriend knows that I love German cuisine and looked up this restaurant for me. My friend and I decided to go there and see what the food and atmosphere were like. We were in for a total surprise. Growing up in Germany I had been to many German restaurants and was immediately impressed upon entering the establishment. It was as though I was transported back to Germany. Everything looked authentic and felt "German". We were seated quickly and I noticed that beside each table there were books about German culture, language, art, and food. My friend and I ordered the Gurken Salat (Cucumber Salad) as an appetizer when the owner came over to greet us. She handed us a beautiful blue book in which past customers had expressed their love of the place and food. I ordered the schnitzel with spaetzle and boiled potatoes and my friend ordered the pasta casserole. Our food came and we noticed the delicious aroma. I took a bite of the spaetzle and noticed that they were fresh and homemade. The schnitzel was exactly as I remembered it in Germany. My friend's casserole was wonderful as well. We were eating when we noticed the table beside us had their food coming. The first thing we noticed was a plate with a huge piece of pork shoulder. I asked the gentleman whom ordered such a meal if i could take a picture of his food. He obliged and I sent the picture to my boyfriend whom was amazed at the size and quantity on the man's plate. My friend and I wrote in the book and looked at the items the restaurant had for sale: t-shirts, sticjers, German newspapers, and other small items. We left completely satisfied with our food, service, and overall experience. Special thanks to my boyfriend for finding this place! : )

The short version: Tasty German food that appears to be authentic and is definitely worth trying. Not ritzy or pretentious, definitely comfortable, comforting, and good. The Tolstoy: Modest little building off as relatively large road, you'd miss this place if you blinked. The decor is ... well, it doesn't say "fine dining" but it's comfortable. The menu has a lot of options and everything I had was tasty. I went on a Monday evening, early, and was the only customer when I arrived. When I left, two pick-up orders had come and gone and one other table was populated. I wouldn't expect anyone to need reservations if you go early enough. The potato pancake was crispy and delicious. The Koenigsberger Klopse were delicious! (Horseradish gravy ... yum!) The kaesespaetzel was to die for. The dessert tray is also expansive. Save room! Some things to note - a 15% gratuity is included in the bill and sodas only get one complimentary refill. The beer list looked great, but I wasn't in a beer-drinking mood. They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and from what I heard it's quite a good time.

I am happy to report that I finally found decent service at a German establishment in the area. Way better service than I got at Willow Tree Cafe in Sanford, so it's mos def worth the 30+ mile drive (I live in Sanford). The food is scrumptious- loved the goulash, the Jagerschnitzel, the dumplings with horseradish gravy. All delicious. The desserts and the beer are worth going for alone. I enjoyed the kitschy/homey decor and service was prompt and attentive. Their one free refill only is the one thing that prevents the 5th star, I just think it's a bit cheap and cheesy. But I'll be back and will be ordering more beer instead.

This was my second time here. I love the atmosphere. Very charming. The waitress was very polite. The food was pretty good though I still prefer Epcot's German Buffet. One thing that really bugs me is they add on a 15% gratuity to all parties. To be fare there are signs everywhere. However after a long meal and a few beers I forgot. The check wasn't itemized so I paid it and left a good tip. I left $20 on 90. We left and I was like wow that was high for what we ordered. I realized then that they added the tip. So we ended up leaving like 30+ dollars. She even saw me calculate it. I am still upset about this. Yes it was my fault but I would have asked the couple if they meant to leave that extra tip. If 15% is added I always bump up to 20 but this was ridiculous. I don't think we will be back b/c of this policy:(

This place was not so good. The gravy served was obviously canned, and the mashed potatoes were instant. They tried to disguise the bland canned menu by over salting and peppering the food. One waitress was serving the whole place which did nothing positive for service. The place is cluttered and untidy. Go somewhere else for dinner!

Heard about this place from people at work and decided to check it out. Service was slow... but who cares? The food was really good and the atmosphere was great! The owner was our waitress and she wanted everyone to have a good time. The party behind us was celebrating a birthday, so she gave gifts and had the whole restaurant sing happy birthday. She told them dirty jokes and had the whole restaurant giggling. I had the schnitzel and spatzel with gravy. John had sausages and spatzel with cheese. He also got the mashed potatoes and they were VERY salty, but I managed to eat half his serving! The potato pancakes we had as an appetizer were great - light, not heavy, thick, greasy or overcooked. Beer selection was very German. Barbara (the owner and our waitress) wanted us to try the soup, she knew we'd love it - but we didn't order any - so she brought us a bowl to share, on the house and it was really good. Dessert was great. Not sure if they are made on the premises, well - I'm sure the apple strudel is - but we opted for one of the decadent chocolate cakes. The restaurant itself is really cute. Some would say cluttered, but it's just like a little neighborhood restaurant in a little German village. It also kinda reminded me of my Grandmother's house with tour books from Germany all around and cute nick-nacks all over the place. Surprisingly, it didn't smell like food or grease, so that lends me to think they keep it very clean. I imagine the weekends get a little wild - they have live music. We were there on a Tuesday night and everyone (customers and staff) was super friendly. The restaurant was never crowded, but there was a steady stream of customers through the front door. My ONLY complaint is that they add 15 percent to every check. I' sure they get a ton of tourists because of how authentic the food is, but I'm a better tipper than that - and I think because of the automatic 15 percent - the service tends to be slow. As soon as I type that I know I have to say that while service was slow, Barbara never stopped the entire time we were there. Back and forth from the kitchen to the tables and chatting with her customers the entire time. Telling stores and jokes and sharing printed sheets with us on how to speak German. She made sure everyone was having fun and also made sure they were enjoying what they ordered. I truly think if I would have said something wasn't to my liking, she would have picked up my plate and gone to the kitchen and whipped me up something herself. But I didn't have to do that becasue my meal was great. Did I mention the free shot of schnapps with the check? I can't wait to go back!

when looking for something different for a group of 7 of us I found this via Yelp. When you pull in to the parking lot you think oh..oh where have I gone. Upon entering you realize that you are in for a great time. The waitresses and the owner greet you with a warm welcome. The German beer is outstanding and the food is as advertised....authentic. Everyone had something different adn everyone was more than satisfied. If you are looking for a great time and a ton of good food and drink I suggest you give it a try. We did and we will make it back here when we return to the Orlando area.

Hold on to your Lederhosen, this place Yodels! If you like German food, no need to dust of the passport and buy a ticket on Lufthansa to Frankfurt. After the first round you will be screaming "Ich bin ein Berliner" (John Kennedy did just that after eating here... just kidding). Anyway, here are my suggestions: try the authentic Weiss Beer on tap (go for the half litter stein, or -if you won't be driving for the next 3 days, go for the full litter glass), then we ordered three dishes: Wienerschnitzel (breaded veal, a classic Austrian dish, very good), the Rouladen (rolled up beef with veggie fillings), and the Hungarian Goulash (meat soup), and we ordered Kartoffel Pfannkuchen as a side dish, please try this potato pancake, its great. In ten minutes we were signing "Das ist Gut!". During our meal the owner stopped by to chat, and he was very enthusiastic about everything, very Deutch! In summary: nice German ambiance and decoration, good prices, hearty German food, great "bier", friendly service. Recommended.

We found this place from Yelp. All my 4 friends and I loved this place. The 3-sausage fest is my favorite.

So many mixed reviews here and I can see why. Walking in, the first thing you notice is all the kitschy German decor and the servers dressed in costume. It's cute. The tables are large wooden picnic style, with some 4 tops around the sides. There's signs everywhere that say they add the 15% tip automatically to your bill. It seems like a place used to more tourists rather than people wanting to hang out for some beers. We went for dinner on a Saturday night and there was live accordion music. The beer was great- we had the blackbier and paulaner. They bring out a basket of different breads and packaged butter with the meal. For dinner, the noodle casserole with blackforest ham (good, but unfortunately, it only had a couple of pieces of ham) and the Jagerschnitzel (cutlet with mushrooms and onion sauce). My partner did not enjoy the sides- the fried potatoes seemed to be the boiled ones, and the sauerkraut was not quite pickled enough. It wasn't busy and service was good, but we also thought it was odd that our server brought out the dessert tray and left it on our table for a few minutes, even though we weren't interested. There was a good variety of chocolate cakes, a key lime pie, and apple strudel available. I really liked the serving of snapps with whipped cream with the check (sweet, not real german schapps or very alcoholic) It's a good place to take your parents or for families or large groups of people (make reservations for that).

Very good . Homemade, food. pleasant atmosphere. Beer steins of the 'proper' size. I had a 'small plate' and added a potato pancake and it was plenty for me, and I eat good sized portions. My colleague liked his meal also. Next time we are here for business we will come back. Potato pancaked are crispy! Weis bier (wheat beer) was excellent, have a glass!

Very tasty food, and great atmosphere! From the decor to the incredibly friendly staff, eating here is more like being in someone's home than being at a restaurant. My husband is not a big fan of German food (thanks to a pretty horrible experience at a German place in Texas a few years ago, but it was his own fault; would you order something described as "puffy ham"?), so I ordered a pile of food for us to share. We got the Bayrisches Fest and wienerschnitzel, along with sides of käse spätzle, red cabbage, and knödel. I really enjoyed the Bayrisches Fest, including the curry ketchup our waitress brought out to go with our knackwurst. Possibly not the most authentic German condiment, but still delicious! And my anti-German food husband was converted by the wienerschnitzel and mashed potatoes. The spätzle and knödel were great, but the red cabbage was a bit too tart; I prefer it to be a bit sweeter. Dessert was Sacher torte and apfelstrudel, and both were quite good. I really like the more homey atmosphere here as opposed to the drunken-singalong-Oktoberfest at Willow Tree, so the next time I'm in the mood for German I'll be heading to Bauern-Stube.

I ate here with a large group of friends on a Thursday night, and something should have warned us that something wasn't right. There were signs all over the place stating that a gratuity would automatically be added on. Since there was such a large group of us we decided to stay. They walked around with soft pretzels asking if we wanted them. They looked ok, but somebody in my group asked about a price and we decided to not order it since we were on a budget. When it comes to the soft drinks they only give one refill; while all other restaurants in the area have unlimited refills. For an appetizer I got a potato pancake, and it was like eating rubber. My entree, chicken schnitzel, was dry, and it tasted like it was microwaved before it was brought out. The worst part is when the check came out. I was expecting the 15% added, but it was handwritten, and the prices that we were charged didn't match the prices on the menu. Now I don't have a problem with a business raising their prices, but they need to update their menu when they do!

I'm in town on business & found this place on Yelp--it's just down the street from where I'm working. FABULOUS!! Can't say enough good things. I went for an early lunch & had the place to myself. Very friendly, very helpful & great prices. They gave me a taste of the goulash soup "so you'll know about it for the next time you come" and a dessert shot that was mysterious & tasty. Had the special--generous cuttings of hamshank, side of red cabbage and schpatzel with cheese, iced tea, and warm apple strudel with ice cream & whipped cream for a little over $21, which includes tip. I was so happy with the meal & service that Irounded it off to $25. I'm telling everyone in my company who comes to this plant to go to this place. I'm going to eat there at least once or twice more before I leave on Friday.

love this place, but be pprepared to eat good food, that tastes like home cooking, the schnitzel is wonderful, as is the beer on draft, so i am told from my husband, this place is really unique and special, and has live oom pa pa music on the weekend, wso you can really get into the mood. The owner is amazing very hard working lady, and will get to know you well.Have fun
