This place makes the best naan, the food is great, and the price is unbeatable. Strong recommendation.

Don't expect portions to be enough for a doggy bag, but I do enjoy the food. My favorites are the chicken korma, peshwari naan, lamb vindaloo, and shrimp biriyani. I always end the meal with a mango lassi but I feel like that one could be a hit or miss. The restaurant could use some renovation. It's not comfortable sitting in a booth with a rip in it.

I have stopped by many times for my Indian fix simply because it is the closest Indian restaurant to where I live. Very disappointed with mattar paneer. It was unlike any matter paneer I have ever tasted before. It was not in a tomato based sauce, the peas were squishy as if not fully thawed, and as much as I tried to detect flavor, I simply could not. If you are seeking excellent Indian food in south Orlando, try taste of Punjab.

Went here with my wife for a lunch buffet. I came to Orlando for an academic conference. I looked at restaurants but we found a lot of them were vegetarian. Ahmed Indian restaurant serves both vegetarian and non vegetarian food. Food is just great. It gives you complete spectrum of flavor of spices, but mind you, it's not too hot. We tried sweet lassi which is not so common at Indian places. Goat curry and biryani was wonderful. I would just take one point away (being extremely harsh here), they did not label the dishes for buffet. For me it's alright (being an Indian) but someone who doesn't know what chickpeas are, would be a little bit of a concern unless he chooses to ask for every serving. This is easily fixable !!! Enjoy this great place !!

Worst food ever !!! Don't even think of coming here ... Tried buffet it sucks .. Tried biryani my good ness it sucks ... It looked like colored rice... Chicken stinks and finally tea looks like a glass of water with some milk ... Don't ever ever come here !!!

Lassi's are awesome, mutton biryani is mouth watering, staff is very friendly. Cheap and best

Having lived in a city where you can get any type of cuisine. I was wanting Indian food. I tried other places but this place is delicious. My favorite is the curry chicken (mild please) with the basmati rice. The chicken is tender and flavorful. I always order naan and vegetable samosas. The naan is soft and warm and the vegetable samosas are crispy. The samosas are filled with small diced potatoes and peas with the perfect blend of spices. My family and I enjoy Ahmed's very much. We are not Indian or Pakistani but we do enjoy the food very much. This is the Indian/Pakistani gem in our neighborhood.

Been there twice for the lunch buffet only because we love Indian food and the price is right. Got seated by the only server in sight, who had the personality of a doorknob. Had to ask for water, then eating utensils, which he never got. My husband got up and got the cutlery himself. Small buffet, not a big choice. Must admit the meat dishes were good, though not labeled, so you don't really know what you're eating; no one around to ask as the server stayed in the back. The nan bread was cold and dry. The smell and look of the rug was a turn-off. Not a place I'd take anyone to impress.

Well yum, found meseff in a new job, and here I am at Ahmed, came here 3 years ago on personal visit, close to new office, best lamb jalfrezi I've had in Ameriky, sweet, sour, full of many flavours with a mild curry spice, accompanied by a delicous tarka dahl and sweet as candy peshwari nan Strip mall, fabbo, if only pablo were here to share. Nice service and for $24 I'm happy.

Pretty terrible food. We went there for a buffet during a conference and they had a very small selection of food. I am not sure if that is normal or because I am used to the vast amount of selection here in the Northern VA area. In VA, we have over 40 different options during our lunch, and this place had barely 8-10. Of those only 2-3 were edible and even then barely of any quality. I found the place to be below sub-par, if that is possible. There was no taste to the food showing lack of proper seasoning. the butter chicken lacked flavor and was cooked the night before(very easy to see that). The only thing I can say that I liked was the naan. Obviously won't be going back here....

Three of us went in on a Tuesday night and found the place nearly empty. We are relatively newbs to Indian cuisine. The waitress was helpful and we tried a couple different breads and Samosa Chaat. There is no alcohol served here. The Chaat was very flavorful and each bite my mouth found a new flavor. My wife loved the naan. Our meal did take some time but I attribute that to the mixed tandoori I ordered. We all left quite full.

Not at all good. Both chicken , lamb biryani not upto mark. Not sure whether its called as biryani.Service not that great. A bit rude. Should have returned when they were closing an hour early than regular hours.

Delicious food! Customer service was not the greatest but as long as you can get over that it'll be well worth the experience. The spicy naan was delicious and the red curry as well. I would definitely go there again. Prices were reasonable.

Used a Groupon for dinner. They were very accommodating and kind. I got the Lamb Jalferezi, Mixed Tandoori platter & garlic naan. The Jalferezi was absolutely delicious. The platter was okay, it was a little dry but was still good. I liked the garlic naan. I assume their curries would be good from their Jalferezi being great and if Im ever back in town Id come here again.

My boyfriend and I went during their slow time of the day. They were playing Bollywood music videos that entertained us while we waited for our food. Appetizers: vegetable samosa and samosa chaat. Both were tasty. The chicken korma was delicious, full of flavor. I got it "hot" and it was definitely spicy enough. It goes great with the garlic naan. The tandoori chicken was good too. Not dry. Prices are reasonable.

The food is trailer-quality. Maybe worse than that. Dal is water and the soup's water too. The paneer tasted weird & the sauce they give you with roasted or fried papad makes a hole on your tongue. I would never recommend this place to anyone. We were a group of nine and it took them 15-20 minutes to seat us. They took a headcount 3 times and moved us. The wait time for food was 45-50 minutes and then this. All this on a Wednesday evening! I wonder what happens on the weekend. Go someplace else people...for real!!!

Modest place , safe choice for desi halal food , restrooms not clean /no electricity but they might have fixed it by now. Their food has five level of spice, medium , hot, very hot, mild and very mild which makes it very confusing.if you ask for hot or very hot , they will mix red chilli powder in pre-prepared food n not actually cook it and hence your insides will be on fire. I have noticed that a lot of desi eateries do this to increase their spice level.therefore my advise would be to not ask them to make it spicy. We came here bcoz we wanted desi halal food which is edible too and we were happy

This place is good. I'm just a bit sad that they were shutdown by the health inspector because they found live bugs and other insects in their kitchen. Also their price is too expensive. They should at least add more portion per order or decrease the price.

  • Memee I.

It was great for first timers, my husband and I asked for a dish that was most popular and the server was very helpful. Even though we were the only ones to dine in, we had a great experience and food was delicious. We will be back again for more! Thank you

Environment: .5 Service: 1.5 Food Presentation: 1 Taste: 2 Price: 2 _________________ Overall: 7/10 I absolutely love this restaurant! At first glance it appears to be a very simple Indian restaurant, but what it lacks in style is quickly made up with friendly service and amazing food! I've had multiple variations of their chicken dishes, all which explode with flavor. The naan is amazing, as is the lassi. If you make it early enough you can catch the buffet, which is sure to please. Did I mention their prices are very inexpensive?! I always leave this place with a smile on my face and a smile in my stomach! If you're in the mood for some great Indian cuisine, be sure to make a trip to this restaurant. 2= Outstanding 1.5= Great 1= Average .5= Needs Improvement 0= Unacceptable

The chicken was fresh. But the desserts weren't. They let me have 1$ off the buffet without even checking my yelp coupon. Looked like any other Indian buffet place.

Me and my friend are looking for some indian restaurant and i found out that it's only 10mins away from where i live. And they also have lunch buffet. It is really good! I dont like vegetable but when i tried their curry vegetable, oh that became my favorite. The price is a bit more expensive than other buffet restaurants and they dont have much choices on their buffet. I hope they would add more especially curries. Might be chicken, seafood or whatever. Over all , it is a great place!

Took an hour and 10 minutes to bring the food for 6 people and when it came it was HORRIBLE. We all have had inidan food from various places across US but this could easily be ranked the worst. The tikka that my wife ordered was smelling bad and texture was icky. the biriyanis were at best a 1 on a scale of 10. When we told the manager about it he said usually people like the food here, its just that the cook might not have been at his best today. After ordering $180 worth of food and none of them eatable that is not the answer we expected. Looks like yet another pakistani restaurant which uses 'Indian restaurant' name board and then end up serving trashy food most of the time

Good food; great service. The two young men waiting must be part owners. They were very nice, courteous and helpful. They are quite high tech when it comes to ordering and paying. They use iPads on a local area network to take orders that go directly to the kitchen. When paying with credit cards, they do it all at your desk on the iPad. Compared to most other Indian restaurants in the Orlando area, the service is excellent. 5 stars for the service. Decor is good - casual - 3.5 stars. Food was good (4 stars) - loved the spinach chicken. Chicken tikka masala was good, not a fan of it, though.

  • Asma A.

Service and food was great and plenty in quantity! Chaat papdri-- amazing! Loved it! So so good! Better than bbq tonight's chaat! Boti kabob was also good I wasn't too much of a fan of the chicken seekh but it wasn't bad Loved the chai too! And had the ras malai for dessert! I think the main comment across the table was food was very good, but a little bit on the salty side.. Nonetheless it was great and I would come again! Our servers were super kind attentive and this place has amazing service --- and I'll say this that even if the food was okay (which it wasn't) but if it was I would still come back here cause they were just great!

Wonderful little place - was in a rush so I only tried their buffet - small offerings but very tasty indeed - enough for both meat eaters (Butter chicken, Tandoori chicken, chicken curry and goat biryani ) and vegetarians (aloo cholay, mix veg curry, palak paneer and vegetable pilaf) alike. The naan and vegetable pakora plus some sweets and salad also went along well with the selections. I like family owned places (as opposed to chains) and the young man who attended to me (Riaz I believe his name was) was most respectful and welcoming. For sure I shall be returning here. Well done!!

I was visiting Orlando at a conference event, and I decided to branch out from the hotel cuisine and try a local Indian place. Since Indian is my favorite type of food, I was excited to try a new place. The food was sub par. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with a side of Naan. The naan was extremely oily and cold. The chicken was tough and the sauce was much more spicy than I had ordered. My friend who is Pakistani went with me and she ordered a lamb dish. Even she said the food was not good. Neither of us ordered any type of alcohol. Also, since one of the languages she speaks is Arabic, she could translate everything they were saying into English for me. Obviously they didn't know she could speak the language because the men were bad mouthing us and saying we were being two girls talking too much and needed to leave. I don't think we will be going back.

We were visiting from out of town and looking for an Indian restaurant. We decided to give this place a try and they were offering a $12 for $25 deal. The food and service were really excellent. The prices are great, in fact, we struggled to use our entire coupon amount. The location is a little seedy and my only complaint is that it doesn't appear to serve alcohol. Other than that, wonderful dinner.

I read good reviews of this place so tried the lunch buffet while in town on vacation. I didn't expect much walking in, but was pleasantly surprised with the food choice and quality. Naan was out upon initial visit to buffet but was quickly replenished and exceptionally good. Butter chicken was my favorite but I explored many other dishes and found them to be good. I even ordered Tiki Masala to go so I could have another fix tomorrow. Well worth a visit.

Saiful was on of our servers on a very busy Christmas day dinner rush. What set him apart from the rest was that he was honest about our expected wait time with our order. It allowed us to pace ourselves with our dinner. The food was great and the service efficient, the bottle neck at check out was terrible. Again, it was a very busy night. Maybe offer buffet service on busy nights such as this.

I have been here a few times, and always had the lunch buffet. Quality is pretty good. My favorite thing to order is the sweet naan! I come here just for it.

Had their Sunday lunch buffet. Was about 10 bucks per person. They offered a decent selection including tandoori chicken and goat bryani. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. Service was good. Would definitely return if I am in this area again

I came here with my family, about 20 of us including myself, and I was not disappointed. Despite the time it took for the food to come out when the food finally arrived it was well worth it! The food was delicious, and the waiter was very welcoming and friendly. The decor in the bathroom wasn't appealing and not necessarily comfortable.

  • Ying D.

I've been on such an Indian kick recently and the hubb recommended this place! Hubbs got the lunch buffet and I ordered off the menu. I secretly shared the naan with him and I had the Paneer Makhni. Everything was so tasty and the service was on point. Also, we got 10% off my meal because of the check-in offer :)))

  • Cola D.

I love the buffet and the options but I've also ordered their chicken tikka masala medium spicy which was just right with cheese naan that was SOOOO good. The waiters are friendly the food is awesome and it's not too loud so it's peaceful to dine in and I enjoy watching the music videos on the screen even though I don't know what they are singing about looks like love and partying.... Any who I love this place!

  • Tanveer S.

Horrible food. They are high tech to take the order. But at the end of the day it is the TASTE and then the SERVICE. They lack both of them. I ordered kabob platter, the kabobs were very dry, no spices or flavor. In seikh kabobs, there are fresh green onions, cilantro and green pepper with spices but these kabobs did not have any thing in it. They were soooo dry like it was just reheated I expressed my concern to 2 waiters who did not have business sense.I had to tell them the food was not even OK. In reply they said, sorry and smiled. I strongly believe, the reviews on line are made up reviews for this place. Yelp doesn't allow to give less than 1 star, their food does not deserve even one star. Karachi chicken was horrible with sugary taste in it. Will not go back and not recommend this restaurant. If you want a "Pakistani taste" you should try China 3 where they serve great Pakistani dishes as well as Chinese.

This was one of the best (if not the best) Indian buffets I've ever been to. The prices were so reasonable and the food was really fresh. If you want to grab a plate to go, they charge by the weight; it's $4.50 per pound. Their vegetarian options were so delicious; I could have eaten them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great service too. Highly recommend Ahmed Restaurant. You won't be disappointed. It's a casual, comfortable place to grab some lunch or dinner.

They have completely redecorated the interior of this restaurant and have done an excellent job. They have also redone their menus - with the same menu items, but with a slight price increase. My wife was not pleased when they did not use Basmati rice for their "Biriani" dish. They used regular white rice instead, this in turn took away the authentic experience! we were so much seeking! I will go their again because these small mistakes are not part of their normal operating procedures. Their food and service continue to be the driving force that makes us return every time.

A little over a year ago, we visited this restaurant and had a less than pleasurable experience. We recently received an invitation to return from the new management and decided to give it another try. We were very pleasantly surprised. The entire restaurant got a make over. It was bright, clean, and very inviting. The waiters were friendly and attentive too. I was glad to see that the negatives had been changed, but the amazing food remained the same. We are so glad to have our favorite Indian restaurant back!

I've been coming to Ahmed Restaurant for several years, since they were in the back of the plaza. The food has always been great, and the service consistently nice. I make an attempt to stop by when I'm in the area. They have a a lunch buffet almost every day, and you can take it to go if you like. They just weigh it and you're on your way.

So nice to find a great Indian buffet anywhere, and this is one. I was really excited to find Gulab Jamun for dessert. It is an expensive treat, and I have never seen it in a buffet. The Naan was fresh and tasty, as were all the other vegetarian entrees. The server/hostess couldn't have been friendlier, and my lunch partner (who enjoyed the meat-based entrees) and I will be back for more. The selection isn't huge, but it is fresh and delicious in a nice atmosphere. The television screens with Bollywood hits playing are a touch of whimsy. Warning, though: Don't go in here if you are on a diet. It will be totally blown out of the water.

Ahmed is one of the nicer looking Indian/Pakistani restaurants in town. Their food to my extremely fine tuned tastebuds, that are accustomed to the best Indian/Pakistani food in the world, find their fare to be decent. I guess my issues with the place include shody service and slightly higher than necessary prices. Still go here if you want to try a new Indian/Pakistani place that is way better than the stuff available on I-drive

Another neighborhood place for me that I really really enjoy! I came here with my gide dog Hurley and my Son Michael today. I've visited before with my previous dog but haven't been here with a dog for about 7 or 8 months. They didn't understand he wasn't a pet until I showed them the dog's ID. Then, everything was okay. Everything is great! food was great, atmosphere is great, and service is great! I strongly recommend the chicken tikka marsala. Also, the prices are fantastic! Really fresh food! Don't miss out on this place when visiting Orlando!

I came to this restaurant right after closing the buffet, it was about 4 pm. We ordered chicken tikka masala, half tandoori chicken, and chicken biryani. The food was shockingly ready five minutes after we placed the order!!!!! Which is not the usual case for freshly prepared Indian food. And when I asked the waiter he told us it was made fresh and from the scratch!!? I told him that nan is cold, biryani chicken pieces are really hard and very dark, and that tandoori is really dry and the bones were burned!! and it was obvious that they reheat the whole order from previously made food. Yet, he told me that he DOES NOT CARE WHAT I THINK OR WHAT I SAY. I was really shocked that he said that but it is almost usual that you will find bad service with the poorly prepared food. I will never come back here nor I will recommend it for anyone who appreciate quality food.

At first I wanted to east somewhere else, but found this place while driving. This place was packed with people so that was a good sign.it was looked in a scary plaza and sure didn't want to get out. The chicken tikka masala was good..also this other chicken dish. The salad never came even though I asked for the status.the mint chutney was ok, bit more cilantro-ish but it didn't cost anything.I also had the tandoori mixed grill, man that thing was small and cost $13. i think overall service was a bit slow, you ask one question, the came outside and forget to update you. the price is a bit pricey for the portion, but it was good in terms of 'no where to eat'.

  • Yass D.

This place had good food. Not super spicy just right, price was good and the buffet was decent. Not a fancy place but for the price was not bad at all. The only thing I did not like is the loud TV's with all the Indian songs surrounding the place. I will go there again.

  • Marty C.

This was my first at an Indian restrestaurant, I was scared at first, but it turned out well. The food reminded me a little of Caribbean food. Try the buffet then come back and order off the menu, the buffet seems limited and does not allow for you to taste as many dishes as you typically can at most buffets. Overall, I recommend you come and try for yourself.

  • Jessica N.

I've been here a couple of times. We went a couple of nights ago because family was in town and insisted we go again. It reminded me how much I love their food. I do not eat meat so we usually go to one of the Vegetarian Indian restaurants in the area, but when you are going out to Indian food with some meat eaters, this is the place. I love their tofu curry. Last night I ordered their Paneer Makhani. Wow--loved it. My husband also does not eat meat and decided to go for the buffet. There were at least 3 options for meat-free food and it was only $12. Very good food and nice people.

Never again... Our meat is half done and it's like chewing on rubber.. Malai kofta suppose to be medium spicy but it came out mild.. Naans suppose to have butter, what we get is hint of butter on top peace

  • Bilal S.

Pretty good place if you are in the area. I went there for the afternoon brunch and all of the items were fresh, halal and the service was really good. I would have given a better review but would have to try the regular menu first.

  • Rashad C.

Good Indian Buffet under ten bucks. The food tasted fine. There were only two guys serving and we had to remind them a few times to top up the buffet or bring out more Naan bread etc. Not sure if it was deliberate or they were too busy to keep up?? Hmm... The curry dishes did not have enough chicken or meat in them... The Goat/Lamb Biryani was brilliant. They Kheer (rice pudding) for dessert which was too sweet for our taste. Despite these small things I would go back here again for Indian Buffet Lunch.

Food was great. Been there twice. Each time same dishes in their buffet. Service is ok. Only one person working so your soda doesn't come quick enough. Had to get up and get it myself but still had to wait for that one person to make it to the counter to give it to me. But beware of their 18% gratuity on your party of 4 or more! They charge you gratuity even in buffet where you serve yourself. Why? Because they "clean your table and serve you drinks" They do that anyway for parties of three or less and oh yeah, they see how much your child is eating before deciding to charge for their plate too. The person working was actually nice until I questioned the bill and then remarked something under his breath after asking someone else to help me understand their policy... I understood perfectly, just thought it was unfair.

  • Judy S.

Try the buffet for $8.95 which didn't have a huge.selection however everything was very flavorful. I had the tandoori chicken which was too spicy along with aloo chole and veggie.curry. No disappointments! My friend went back for seconds on the goat curry. I passed on that dish! Rice pudding was a nice dessert finish. If you want to enjoy some indian beer, this place doesn't have a liquor license, but there's an indian market next door I'm going to check out. Waiters were very attentive and although the restaurant was almost full, it was a very pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely come back!

Probably the most bang for your buck, when it comes to Indian cuisine, in Orlando, period. It's located in this little two story plaza on the side Orange Blossom Trail, but the restaurant itself isn't very little and not the easiest thing in the world to miss. The staff are very friendly, and actually understandable, which has posed as a problem with other establishments. They usually have a TV in the corner playing random Bollywood, but it's never audible to the point of being obnoxious (yet another problem before). Whether it be for an evening dinner outing with family, or an awesome all-you-can-eat afternoon lunch buffet. The food is everything any seasoned lover of Indian would come to expect, and just might even epitomize it. Rich, thick curries, masalas, and a multitude of other sauces, blanketed over your meat (or veg) of choice in deep metal serving dishes. Served with big platefuls of basmati rice and some of the most crisp, hot naan bread I've ever had. Don't count out their vegetarian choices, though! One of my favorites is their Palak Paneer: big cubes of their fresh homemade cheese, stirred into a hearty mix of creamy spinach with Indian spices. With a sweet mango lassi (yogurt milkshake), to finish off. OR go across the street to the outstanding Twisty Treat ice cream, just down the road a little. It's great if you already love Indian food, it's perfect for those who have yet to try it, it's hard to leave there without wanting to go back again. Enjoy!

I have found my new favorite Indian place in Orlando.. Mind you, has a bit to do with proximity to the house. Service was ok, but we may have come in on an off day so they had one very helpful server at the front... All around very flavorful food at a reasonable price... Good eats!

Yay! A good Indian restaurant near my house! I don't know how many times I've cruised by the place on OBT since I moved to Orlando; and I went by it one more time today looking for it. The strip mall it's in isn't attractive; but trust me, you want to go in. The fact that it was mostly empty on a Saturday night wasn't a good sign; but the food made up for everything. (Business picked up while I was there, and most of the folks were Indian, a good sign.) Keema Samosas were good, crunchy if not crispy, and I liked the tamarind chutney better than most. Chicken Korma was a large portion with rice, it could have been split between two modest eaters. Well-cooked, good flavor, just a hint of heat (the waiter asked, I like mine mild.) Only when the chicken came out did the waiter suggest naan to accompany, but it was fresh out of the oven two minutes later. I would have preferred the sweet lassi a little sweeter. The waiter was pretty attentive, but annoyingly informal, 'man'.

love Indian food and this is my favorite Indian restaurant in Orlando. To make this place even better you can buy gift certificates here on restaurant.com . I usually buy them with 80% off codes. The food is so fresh, a lot cheaper than other Indian restaurants in Orlando. I love their goat and lamb dishes. You can order any dish mild, medium, or hot. You have to try the passion fruit or mango Lassis. The best fruit smoothie type drink I have ever had. If you like Indian or if you have wanted to try Indian definitely go. It is located south of Costco on OBT on the opposite side of the street in a 2 story shopping center.
