Jack Willie’s Bar Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

A fun place with a great outside bar/patio. Staff are not super friendly to new comers as this seems to be more of a regulars type of place but they're nice enough. The food is your basic Florida menu, fish spread, friend clams and calamari, fish sandwiches and pricy entrees. I'd say the food is okay but the point of going here is the fun loving vibe and drinks. There's been live music or karaoke every time I've gone which for me is awesome. Everyone there seems to be enjoying themselves (customers that is). I've never dined inside so this review is exclusively regarding the bar and outside area. The bartenders could be a bit friendlier, offer suggestions, introduce themselves, smile, let you know the specials...etc but it is a cool place none-the-less.

When you say locals only know about the place, sometimes it's true and sometimes it isn't. This is one of those times where it is. Nobody pops by because they see the advertising (there isn't any). Nobody sees it while driving by on a busy street. Word of mouth doesn't work either since most are too drunk to remember any specific details. However, if you'd like a tasty lunch or a drink or four in a nice outside tiki bar, I would recommend it. Just bring a designated driver and you are good to go!

Pleasantly surprised at how cute this restaurant is on the inside and great outdoor patio area too! I have driven by so many times and thought the exterior and parking lot area did not look appealing and so glad we finally went. Good variety of food offerings - burgers, sandwiches, seafood. Ordered a cheese steak n' fries - cheese steak was good although much preferred the BF's Reuben that he shared with me. Waitress was great. Will be back!

We found this place on yelp! Older reviews were terrible, but later ones were good. So we tried it, for lunch. Good surprise! Now we go every couple of weeks, for lunch. Service is very good, but they cook to order, so not fast food. Usually, fried clams and onion rings are too hot to eat. Lived in key west for 15 years, and it reminds us of Alabama jacks and hog fish grill.

I stopped by with a group of friends, and I am glad I did. The restaurant is a casual waterfront cafe in the true style of a tiki bar/restaurant. The special tonight was a nice size ribeye with fries and salad for 11.99. Can't beat that!! For those of us that ordered steak, it was very good and was cooked to perfection. The fries were delicious and crunchy. The portion was so large that we took most of the fries home. Others ordered a sea scallop basket, and a grouper finger basket, both considered appetizers, but it was an ample enough portion for a light meal. Another member had a Grouper Reuben sandwich. All meals tasted great! I will definitely go back because Jack Willie's has a menu that is chock full of appetizers, entrees sandwiches and salads that I want to try.

Let's do a little simple math here. Excellent food + lovely outdoor waterfront setting + prompt service - loud guests - smokers - slightly expensive charges = A - Ok. Although I gave a less-shining 3 stars rating, I must say the food is very good. For example, I ordered deep fry oyster. Even though it was a bit greasy, the coating was unique. Instead of using common cornstarch mixture, the oysters were coated with small chunk of bread that gave a rich flavor of the batter. It had no salt added so I can taste both ingredients. I liked it a lot. Hubby ordered blackened grouper finger. It was slightly salty, but the grouper was very fresh. Rachel was our waitress. She is super nice and helpful. We were there on super busy Wed, the karaoke night, she managed to take good care of us. We enjoyed her service. Nice girl. Jack Willie is a definitely local hangout place, more specific, the bikes' hangout place. It is bit loud and we are at the mercy of the wind. The combination smell of cigarette and armpit is not very desirable. Hugo Boss might comes handy.

For the price and it's close proximity to home, this is a great place. We arrived around 830 on a Saturday night and sat outside. It was busy but not packed. You could definitely find a table or a seat at the bar. The crowd was interesting. It's definitely an older, biker, sort of rough around the edges type of crowd. But it was good-definitely not pretentious and some good people watching. Our server was slow to greet us or take our drink order, but once she came around she was pretty good. We ordered the crab stuffed fries mushrooms and they were awesome. For dinner we both ordered the blackened mahi sandwich. Mine with fries, the hubs with a side salad. The sandwich was wonderful. It was served on a toasted sesame seed bun and the fries were nice and crispy. The sandwich had crisp lettuce and juicy red tomatoes on the side. We ordered an ice tea and a bud light. For $30, this was a great deal and one we will be repeating again.

Go for the atmosphere and people watching, it's a great mix. The food is very good, you can't beat their burgers or shrimp tacos and they usually have a band playing. Yes, it can get loud but if you want quiet you can stay at home. Go to Jack Willies to have some fun!

Haven't been since the renovation and I must say the place looks great. Awesome atmosphere, polite staff, and usually great eats. But our food two weeks ago was sub-par at best. We started with the fish spread and couldn't eat much due to the large clumps of cream cheese and the extreme lack of fish taste. Without asking, the waitress took the fish spread off our tab which we were very grateful for . I had the fish and chips and my date had a burger. The burger was ok and so were our fries... But the fried fish was really bad. Tasteless, over battered, and again no fish taste what so ever. Took more than half home and immediately threw it away. I've never had any bad food experiences so this was quite a let down. If we do return, I won't ever order that again.

Stopped by the "New" Jack Willies last weekend on our way home from a great day of riding like we used to do with the "Old"Jack Willies. We were very disappointed, the so called musical duo put a whole new definition to the word sucked, but the best part was an 8 oz plastic cup of Sam Adams for 4 bucks! When we asked the bartender what was up with that she said you can get a bud or bud light draft for less. First, who serves 8 oz drafts!? Secondly, who charges 4 friggin bucks for 8 oz of beer. We won't be returning anytime soon.

Great atmosphere the outdoor dining area right on the water is cool, came here for lunch while traveling on business. I had a light lunch which was seared Ahi tuna with a cole slaw type salad. It was tasty and not to filling, it hit the spot. the people at the giant tiki bar seemed to be enjoying themselves, looks like a great local hang out spot. The service was good even though she had just started. The wildlife was nice to watch with the fish and the birds and the signs said manatee's. Next time I roll into this part of town I will stop here for sure.

Loved this place. Only had drinks and a piece of fabulous key lime pie, which looked and tasted homemade. Which we had been hungry, from what we saw going to other tables the food looked great. Would recommend stopping here for a little local restaurant and bar.

Saturday lunch there 7/26/14. I had fish tacos, two large fish tacos that were absolutely delicious. Added their mouth-watering sweet potato fries for $2. I was full. Companions had hamburgers which were big-huge, thick and tasty. The renovation is beautiful, excellent ambiance. Our waitress was helpful, courteous and responsive. The only rub was when one of us asked for more mayonnaise for the hamburger. She said it would cost 30 cents. Big bottle of ketchup sitting there - take as much as you want, but mayo is 30 cents. Free refills on the soft drinks, but you want more mayonnaise? That'll be 30 cents. My friend was livid. Didn't bother me. It's stupid and off-putting and they need to change that right away, but I'll still be back. ( I just won't order the mayonnaise.)

This place is so much better than back in 2009 (i lived in fl, moved away, came back..) great food, decent beer prices, seems popular.

The food was the only thing that saved this review. It was delicious. Had the bacon burger and fish tacos both with sweet potato fries. The bacon burger was huge and cooked to perfection. The grilled haddock tacos came with cole slaw and cheese on them and lettuce, tomato, sour cream and salsa on the side. They were good sized and very tasty! The sweet potato fries were delicious!!! The cocktail menu was less than desirable ... nothing enticing for my wife, which is rare. They did have some good drink specials/pricing and the food was reasonably priced. Our waiter was a joke - I'm pretty sure he didn't know which way was up at first. But I will say his service got better as the meal progressed. The guys ordered Miller Lite and he forgot about them. We finally reminded him when he came back to take our food order. When he brought the beers, he brought one Miller and one Bud lite. Oh well, we survived. He confused who had what meal and also who's credit card was who's. Pretty sure he needs a little more training and is not so good at multi-tasking. He was able to fix my living social voucher discount that I forgot I had. Bathrooms were disgusting...smelled like you were at an old fashioned hole in the ground campground bathroom. Refused to use it a second time....would rather pee my pants than go in there again as I almost threw up the first time from the smell. I understand that the restaurant is on the water at a marina...but this bathroom is unacceptable even for campground standards! If I try this place again, I'll definitely use the bathroom before I go.

Yesterday was the first time my husband and I visited Jack Willie's since it has reopened. We were very excited since we frequented here during Football Sundays. We were very disappointed. The servers were friendly when we did speak to them but very slow. I ordered the fish and chips and was dissappointed the fish was lacking in flavor big time and a bit on the dry side. The chips were very good. The beer was cold. The burger my husband ordered also lacked in flavor... a little salt and pepper would have gone a long way. I dont think I would go back to eat but maybe just to drink.

Very disappointing, don't get the seafood and don't use the bathrooms they are nasty! My husband and I went here last Friday nite. When we arrived the patio was full and we were told there would be a 30 minute wait. We opted to eat inside as there was a table where we could still see and hear the band. Our waitress came by to take our order, we asked about any drink specials. We were told they are $2 beers, wells, margaritas and rum runners. We ordered two rum runners. We opted to try the appetizers instead of getting two meals, we had never been there before and thought we could try a few things. My husband ordered the crab cakes and bacon, cheddar fries. I ordered a 1/2 dozen raw and 1/2 dozen steamed oysters on the half shell and the fresh cut onion rings. My oysters came out all steamed and on a bed of ice. I told the server that was not what I ordered and she took it back. The server, the cook and someone else stood there and looked at them for a while. A while later the oysters came back out the way I had ordered the except the steamed ones were ice cold. All the oysters were served on the half shell but each oyster was in several pieces (I'm assuming they didn't know how to shuck them). I decided not to send them back. My husbands items came out as well. We ordered two more rum runners. I decided to order a small basket of scallops to share. They came out. All the seafood items were marginal. We decided to order one more drink and enjoy the band for a while. Then when our check came the total was $85 dollars. I was shocked to see that much and asked our server. She said the rum runners were $6 each. I asked her about the specials she told us about earlier and her response was she said $2 beers and wells and they have margaritas and rum runners. Well that's not what we heard over the band and crowd. For the $100 we spent for everything including her tip we could have had a really nice meal else where. Then to top it off both my husband and I had stomach problems for the rest of the nite. We will never return and if we do it will be burgers and beer. Very disappointing, don't get the seafood and don't use the bathrooms they are nasty!

I don't think it's that bad. But I just get basic chicken sandwiches and fries. But my ex and daughter hate everything about everything on the menu. They say the fish is always fishy and everything tastes like garbage. His exact words are "this place is the scourge of Oldsmar" and it's a shame Bc the potential w location. Guess that's all their staying Alive for. I was kinda disgusted by the restrooms though. The bartender was cool. Server sucked

Below average. Really slow service, foods less then eh. The only thing they have going for them is the cute patio on the water.

Just went back to try the food since the new management took over, and it was excellent. Grouper sammich was way better than the one offer by the previous owners. The filet was a nice size and pleasantly thick. I love me some grouper sammiches, but I think the story to write about here was the burger my chica got. Damn if that thing was flame grilled to tasty perfection. It's just hard to find a freaking burger grilled over an open flame these days after the fall of BGR. Honestly, I cannot see going back to Jack Willie's and ordering anything but this burger!

Thankfully Jack Willie's Original Tiki Bar & Grill is under new management, as the previous ownership had run this place into the ground -- netting it several Health Department and "Dirty Dining" citations. But all of that has changed, and Jack Willie's is back to being an excellent place to hang out on the northern end of Old Tampa Bay. The restaurant and famous tiki bar sit right against the bay, and you can watch the sunset along with the sandpipers, the cranes, the tarpon, and other critters while you enjoy something to eat or have a frosty cold beverage outside under the thatched roof tiki hut. You'll find Jack Willie's right near the intersection of Tampa Road and St. Petersburg Drive in Oldsmar. If my memory serves me correctly, Jack Willie's was originally started by a couple of guys from the New York Yankees baseball team as their take on an old Florida fish house / tiki bar. The back room of the restaurant is filled with autographed photos, bats, baseballs and other Yankees memorabilia. For years this had been a spot to order their crab cakes, grilled grouper sandwiches, or sushi-grade tuna served over a big bowls of greens with an Asian-inspired sesame dressing. And I am really glad to say that the kitchen is back to cranking out some mighty tasty (and thankfully, Health Department-approved) meals. The menu is full of seafood prepared as you like it, along with soups, salads, appetizers, burgers, wraps, sandwiches, and full entrees including steaks and chicken. Jack Willie's is a great place to visit on the weekends when you can sit outside, under the thatched roof of the tiki hut, and enjoy your favorite drink. On the weekends and in the evenings there is a small house band that plays a lot of classic rock mixed with Jimmy Buffet beach songs. Kind of a funky mix, but it's popular with the locals. Don't be surprised if the parking lot is filled with motorcycles as Jack Willie's is a popular gathering spot for people on their long weekend rides. We were there on a Saturday evening after a very filling meal elsewhere, so we found an open table outside and listened to the music while enjoying a few drinks. Later in the evening we split an order of blackened grouper bites, and toasted the fact that Jack Willie's is back in action!

Great food, good people, and awesome live music. Day or night this place offers a great atmosphere. I have never been disappointed with the service, or anything I have tried on the menu.

Came here on a Tuesday night with some friends after hearing good things about the food. Disappointed we couldn't sit outside but that's Florida summer weather for you. You can't go wrong with Fish Tacos in the area, but these were especially delicious. The chips that came with the meal were excellent as well. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals ( mostly fish tacos) as well and both the food and drinks were reasonably priced. My only complaint was that our waiter screwed up our drink order but it wasn't a big deal. I'll definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.

Love this place, they have good food and cold cheap beer BUT the service is usually on the slow side and could definitely use improvement! Highly recommend the smoked fish spread, gator nuggets and burgers!

Visited today for the first time. A great day for an outdoor table. Especially, since they have a very nice outside dining/bar area. We were seated immediately with a server arriving in only a few minutes. We ordered drinks and two sandwich meals - fried cod fish special and blackened mahi mahi. The food arrived in about fifteen minutes and looked awesome. Both had large portions of fish, included fries, and cole slaw. Both the mahi mahi and cod were cooked perfectly. The cod batter was a slight bit greasy, but it didn't take away from the taste. The mahi mahi had a great blacken flavor. We were checked on several time, ordered extra drinks, and enjoyed a little extra time in the outdoor setting. A great dining experience all around.

I wasn't sure what to expect with the new ownership taking over and practically razing the interior of an old favorite spot, but I think we're gonna be ok. We've lost the pool table, but we've got dollar beer. We've lost some regulars after the initial closing, but we've got flame-licked burgers. The trade-offs at this place are alright with me. On every other Thursday they offer bike-night Jack burgers for 5 buckaroos which pretty much outshine most burgers in the area by simply arranging really fresh ingredients with spot on cooking technique. Still like the place, hope it holds up!

5* ambience on the outdoor deck; 5* for Fred, the gorgeous white Heron who lives here and entertained us much more than the live music; 2* for the drink. Singer/musician Justin Kleinhoffer was performing at the time and was fine. The drink I ordered was lacking something; I order Jack Daniels neat everywhere I go and this drink lacked the bite; I believe it was either watered down or not Jack Daniels. There is plenty of comfortable seating in addition to wooden bar stools. This is a very happy place and I would definitely try it.

Here's another one where you'll wait forever for your food. Three hours we waited and it wasn't anything special. Fresh, yes, but nothing amazing. It's a cool place if you want to have some drink & listen to music.

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch and drinks. The fish tacos were awesome and I would highly recommend them. We were nervous about the service and food speed but those were fine too. One of the drinks in the first round were wrong but that was an easy fix. The food and drinks were cheap and overall it was a solid experience. Plus the outdoor patio seating was really nice.

Food is good., enjoy the fish and salads. Low tide so it smelled, nothing can be done for that but uneven pavement in parking lot friend twisted her ankle be careful, they should redo that area that is broken up. Tables inside very close to each other had to move when people came to next table. My wife enjoyed the dessert and everything else was great.

Tiki bar? Cold drinks? Great music? Minimal tourist?! I'm there! I have an aunt that lives down the road from Jack Willies. My first night in town, this was always my go to place. There used to be an employee named Mike, he was a true Floridian. He would have my friends smiling all night long! Great guy! At night the live music can get a little loud, but, it is Florida, you are on vacation....cut a rug!!!! Also, I loved this place because it was a great place for the whole family (well the 21+ variety) young cousins, older aunts and uncles could all have a blast!

Pleasantly surprised! I had heard a lot of mixed things about Jack Willie's. i heard it was a a fun local place for live music but shouldn't expect much form the food. My experience was actually just the opposite. I went tonight to enjoy the balmy fall weather and everything else was a bonus. We showed up around 7:30 and were greeted by a lovely server. We ordered grouper bites blackened that were very tasty. For dinner my girlfriend ordered a Chef's Salad with grilled mahi which came with cantaloupe which was a nice touch. The presentation of the salad and freshness were fantastic. My buddy ordered the fried mahi sandwich with onion rings. He enjoyed it thoroughly. Especially, the onion rings. I had the crab stuffed shrimp whcih was surprisingly tasty! It came with a side salad which I was delighted to see was NOT iceberg lettuce. Yay for the little things!!!!! I also had the sweet potato fries which were good, but needed their own dipping sauce. As for the live music...well...they had a lot of heart. However, as someone who spends a lot of time listening to live music, these guys were passionate but pitchy and off-key. I was far more disappointed by the music than the food, which was a shocker based on what i'd heard. The lead singer was a cross between Gene Simmons and meatloaf. The server told me that these guys are the house band. That alone would make me think twice about going on a regular basis. Change is good. Maybe expanding the live entertainment is something the new owners can conquer next. I'll be back regardless, frequency will depend on the consistency of food and live music. Thumbs up for a new experience!

We went for the first time on Sunday. They have 12oz. Bud, Bud light, & Miller Light drafts for $1.00. They have a 2 man band that starts at 2, they were good and not to loud. Nice crowd and biker friendly. Our server Stephanie was AWESOME, she was on point with everything!!! We ordered the mushrooms which came out very fast and they were good. Next we ordered the hot wings, they were very meaty with good flavor. Next time I will order extra hot next time cause I like to sweat when I eat hot wings. Next we ordered the fish and chips, holy HUGE PORTIONS and again very good. All that food,12 drafts and leftovers for less then $40.00!!! This is definitely our new Sunday stop.

Asked for a seat by the water and hostess said she would give us a table once it became available, couple tables became available and we didn't get any of the seats while sitting by the bar waiting. Drinks took over ten minutes, check took over ten minutes, cashing the check seemed well over 20 minutes. Never come back here again. Trailer Trash / Trashy biker crowd (Yes, there are bikers who have class, these bikers do not)..

As promised the little lady and I attended our first "Bike Nite" which they do on the 1st Thursday of every month. We were pleasently surprised first of all at the turnout as there must have been over 100 bikes there. They provide plenty of "Motorcycle only" parking and space was not an issue. Most of the activity takes place outside at the tiki bar where there is plenty of seating and a live DJ spinning the tunes. They had a couple of merch booths set up which were a little disappointing as they seemed to be nothing more than a sales/advertising pitch for a certain attorney in town. Would like to have seen at least a t-shirt booth or something. The food was in a word "Sensational". We each had the grouper fingers and sweet potato fries. the SP fries are worth the trip in and of themselves and are a must order. We had wings on the side which were all drummettes as opposed to actual wings which is what we prefer. Our waitress was outstanding and she got tipped accordingly. The little lady and I will be making "Bike Nite" a regular excursion from now on. Thanx Jack Willies!

This is a fun local bar on old Tampa Bay in Oldsmar. We have our company Christmas party here each year. They have a real tiki bar outside! Out back, I have even seen live alligators sitting on the sea wall! The food here is not to miss. They have a the best crab cake i have eaten. Their blackened shrimp appetizer is very good. The hot wings are also very good. The bar-b-que flank steak is awesome! The staff is always friendly and quick. Oh yeah, they have good drinks too! Lots of locals with big $$ cars hang out here! Fun to watch that!

Although the atmosphere is nice, don't expect great food or service here. We had a coupon from the Entertainment book. The waitress was giving us a hard time about the coupon for no apparent reason. We had to speak to the manager to redeem the coupon. The food and service here are mediocre. Prices here are more than what I expected (good thing we had the coupon). To sum up Jack Willie's, this place is better known for their atmosphere and drinks, not their food.

Awful food! Awful experience. Don't waste your money!!!! Ate there on a Saturday night and the dining room was empty!!!! Good restaurants should not be empty on Saturday nights. Food took over an hour to come out, they were out of shrimp, steak and Macaroni n Cheese from the kids menu! Worst of all, the draft beer was warm. This was my first and last time ever eating here.

  • Connie C.

Jack Willies has a fun atmosphere, they have the largest Tiki Bar in Tampa Bay. As soon as you get there you will see a lot of people outside enjoying the live music and lots and lots of drinks!!. For those of you who want to sit inside, there are tvs showing sporting events. The food is pretty good, they have a mix of the usual burgers and sandwiches, but also mix it up with some fancier stuff like parmesean encrusted salmon or crab cakes. So there is something for everyone, and definently a good place to go with you buddies.
