If you're looking for cheap, home cooked food, this is the place. We've been here many many times and besides getting the occasional bad server the food is excellent. I highly recommend the grouper when they have it fresh!

Food is good. Service - forget it unless your a snowbird that comes there every day. We tried it three times. Only the first time we had good service. On the 3rd visit, the host was going to seat us at a booth and one waitress came running out " THAT IS RESERVED"!!! Uhh,,, this is a greasy spoon and its breakfast! What is the president coming here? F - that place. DO NOT GO TO DADDY's! GO TO EVE's!!!!!!!!!!! BETTER FOOD AND SERVICE!!!

Breakfast here smokes dinner. Morning service is fast and efficient while dinner service is slow and consistently incorrect.

Restaurant smelled like cigarettes and mildew. We tried the fish fry and a baked chicken special. Neither had much flavor...seemed like nursing home food. Server and staff were nice but I can't think of a reason I would ever go back.

When we arrived the waitress talked about the freshness of the food, but when it arrived at the table, the food was barely warm, and the fries were stone cold. I just told them take it back and refund - no time to wait for another round. I could hear the wait person yelling from the kitchen about how I was wrong and their food was fresh. bad, bad, bad, and unprofessional .... I will not go back!!!!!

Service is horrible, second time here and it is even worse! We made reservations for 10:00am and we ended up waiting outside for over an hour and a half because they refused to put tables together! Then to top it off they made us wait over 30 minutes before they took our order... Unreal

I'm a fan of Daddy's Grill. It's nothing fancy but I find the food and service good, and the prices reasonable. It caters to the older crowd, which is great because sometimes you are in the mood for some "comfort food". Something made simple, nothing fancy. No macadamia crusted this, or feta infused that. Just some grilled fish with some green beans and mashed potatoes. Or maybe a good roast beef sandwich. They have weekly specials if you are feeling adventurous but I find their cooking to be on the "safe" side. Nothing on the spice or flavor extremes, considering the target crowd. I'm a fan because sometimes I'm tired of the chain restaurants, fancy cuisines, and upetty servers. Sometimes I want a simple meal in a nice, clean, simple place. Good food for a good price. If you are in the mood for this type of experience, give Daddy's Grill a try. You won't be disappointed.

This place received the third star based on the musical styling of Kathleen, who plays the piano in the bar. That's the highlight. She is terrific! Remember to tip her on your way out. We typically go for dinner and we'll sit in the dining room. Afterward, we head to the bar, where the bartender often forgets drinks, or forgets to bring out all of the food items. This happened twice on two different visits. She seems overwhelmed at times. She's very sweet, just a little forgetful. When you mention it to her, she'll always remove the forgotten item(s) from the check without hassle. The place caters to the older generation folks, and the price is reasonable as such. But the food is very plain.

After a positive recommendation for Daddy's from a family member who's visited twice, two guests and I decided to check it out on a Tuesday night. It was not too crowded and the service from our attentive waitress was excellent. The entire meal easily exceeded my expectations for food/value/experience. Two of us had one of the dinner specials of salmon with pineapple butter sauce ($11 each and unexpectedly delicious), and other had fish and chips. We all had very fresh green beans (big thumbs up) for a side with a tasty baked potato. Everyone found our meals absolutely delicious. The salmon was well prepared/seasoned and not overdone. I also had a bowl of their french onion soup which was extremely good. Having grown up in Europe, my standards for it are quite high, and Daddy's delivered. In fact, delivered better than any other french onion soup I've had in the Tampa area. Freshly made, with the appropriate bread and cheese topping nicely browned on the top of a piping hot crock bowl. The bowl kept it so hot I was able to finish the last half after my salmon, and it was still piping hot. I'll definitely be back and my friends both agreed. Big thumbs up, Daddy's! You've been added to our list of regular restaurants to frequent, and we'll hopefully be back soon!

Best customer service in the world!!! I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the finest customer service I have ever had in my life at this place.. And the food was excellent. The food was so cheap that I was genuinely concerned about the quality of it, but to my surprise, everything was great.. The hostess and the waitress were more then accommodating for our party of four and I got the feeling that they were sincere in their warm smiles and southern hospitality. Great for lunch, happy hour, or breakfast, but you can also just stop in for drinks at happy hour. #Who's your DADDY?

This was the first time I visited this restaurant. While the food was decent The service was very poor the waitress was not very attentive and we ate our whole mean with no refills on our drinks at the end when I said something she apologize but didn't even offer to refill our drinks so when she came back with the check I asked for a manager a gentlemen came out I explained to him. He didn't seem to care I asked that at least the 4 soda drinks should at least be taken off our bill. He said that since I would not be coming back there is no need for that. I then ask if he was the owner and he said he was. If this is how a owner runs his business I would never go back. The restaurant was not very busy I went between lunch and dinner time. If this is the kind of service they give on slow time I would hate to be at this restaurant during dinner time.

This place was packed and really gave the impression that it's quite popular with the locals. However while I like what the menu had to offer the actual food served was kind of not what I expected. Marsala wine sauce was more like mushroom or brown gravy. The Caesar salad was really good but the dressing tasted like ranch dressing which was kind of weird. I like ranch dressing so hey, it worked out. But the 2 stars are mostly reflective of the terrible and inattentive service. The server didn't introduce herself, never smiled, rarely came by, and took ten minutes to take our order. Perhaps she was having a bad night but I've worked in the service industry and I still did my job if things weren't the best. We had to ask for everything (water refills, etc). She filled out the check incorrectly and put the wrong food in front of the wrong people at our table. Bummer...

Definitely an older crowd, but they have a way of finding a good spot to eat. I've never been disappointed here. Always a good meal with good service. Love it!

Ahhhh, so I've finally had a chance to pull into Daddy's, a place I normally just whiz by on the way to somewhere else. The chica and I went to Hennessey's to throw down on some of the best breakfast the world has to offer (yes, Hennessey's) and were deeply saddened to find that they weren't open yet. Feverishly desiring eggs and cased pork meats, we decided to hit up Daddy's. I had a delicious omelet from here once that was to-go, but had never dinned in. Upon arrival, we found the place to be quite crowed. We logged in and were told we would have a 20 minute wait. I don't normally WAIT for breakfast, but I was hungry, so we stayed. The actual wait time was about 7 minutes. Service was prompt and friendly, so no complaints there. As for the food, meh. I ordered a omelet with bacon, sausage, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. Either the chef doesn't know the difference between Swiss and white American, or their Swiss is of such low quality that it tastes like white American, one of the two. I also had the pancakes, and they were fluffy as hell, but lacked in flavor. I also had an order of home fries. There must be a potato famine because I sweat I had about 15 cubed pieces of potato on my plate, maybe 1/3 of an actually potato. For two of us, the tab was about $15, so that was cool. I guess if I ever eat here again, I will just stick to the omelet and steer clear of the hotcakes and home fries.

Hands down good home cooking meals .. if you want a home cooked meal this is your place. I had the shrimp and scallop special ... shrimp and scallops were delicious and cooked well. Husband had 1/2 rotisserie chicken special that was really yummy. Son had chopped sirloin steak .. he too ate all of it :-) Service was ok ..

The coffee here is super watered down. The food is ok but the service is pretty sub-par.

This place is a classic, old school restaurant, as several other reviewers have mentioned. The food is actually cooked there (rather than being frozen and reheated, or out of a bag/box/can). The green beans are fresh. The food tastes good and it's not that expensive. I love it. I've ordered: the burger, fish and chips, fried shrimp, BLT. All have been fresh, well cooked and tasty. I'm surprised by the bad reviews - they all seem to be service related, but I've been here over a dozen times and have never had bad service. I'd chalk it up to being between shifts, or just a bad day.

First try here...got drinks and the server never came back to take our order. Talked with every coworker in the place as our menus were pushed to the side, to show we were ready to order. Got up and walked out. Horrible service....and I'm a hospitality professional and huge tipper. She got a note that said "poor service :( " If I could give a negative star...they'd get 5

We have business meetings there over breakfast at least once a week and the food is spot on. Service is great and the food is always great and consistent. We will continue to frequent Daddy's Grill.

This place is near where I work so we go here from time to time. I'm always happy when we go to Daddy's. But I will warn you, if you are a person who needs bells and whistles with everything you eat, this is not the place for you. What Daddy's is an Old School Restaurant that is most concerned with TASTE and COST...both of which are very, very good here. The food is above average and the cost is shockingly LOW by today's standards. The last time I was here I kept is very simple with the French Dip Sandwich and French Fries...really, really good. Simple, flavorful and cheap as hell for a non-fast food joint. I've had several other dishes here and everything has ranged from pretty good to extremely good. The service can be a little hit or miss depending on who you get, and things can get especially shaky with they get kinda busy. But if you are looking for a non-chain place that is family run and truly OLD SCHOOL then Daddy's is a great fit. I will eat here frequently and I'm really rooting for a place like this to make it in our goofy 21st Century economy.

There was a long wait but they were crazy busy. The service was great. We were there for breakfast on Sunday. The breakfast was amazing and the portions were large. I'm looking forward to trying lunch/dinner.

4 stars for being an old-school restaurant 2 stars for service on this visit (first visit) I totally agree with Sam Q's review - this is a comfortable restaurant serving solid food - reminds me of mom and pops restaurants of my youth. I ordered blackened grouper, baked potato, side salad, and green beans. The green beans looked like mushy canned beans but they were delicious - caramelized onions provided some sweetness and there were some fresh green beans mixed in (craving them already - ha!). Blackened had some kick and I love me some homemade ranch dressing - hurray! BF ordered New Yorker burger (blue cheese and bacon) and it was great - hand formed burger cooked perfectly, not too much blue cheese and plenty of bacon. Server was slow and a little awkward - maybe was her first night working at the restaurant? She tried and hopefully will improve with time. Hope to bump up my rating to 4 stars on my next visit :)

I hesitated to review this place the first time I ate here because we had such poor service that it left me very negative about a place that I know some people like... However, my return trip wasn't much better. The food is decent and the prices are decent, but the service is not great. The server was nice enough, but maybe the place is understaffed? It took a long time to see her for the first time and hard to find her other times. There are so many better places that I don't think I will be in a hurry to go back.

My wife and I ate breakfast on a recent Sunday morning. The restaurant was pretty busy. The food was good, but I experience some poor customer service with the hostess when I was leaving. A customer who had been waiting to be seated for a while asked the hostess why she was calling other parties that arrived after he had his name on the list before them. She responded by explaining that the other party had two people while his had three. He made the comment that the people she just seated in the booth would seat four, so his party of three would have worked. The hostess started arguing with the customer and became very rude. I think he left. After witnessing the poor customer service - I won't be back.

I rarely write reviews but this place needs more for potential diners to read. We have driven past Daddy's for years and it has always been busy. Decided to take my mother in law because reviews mentioned the senior citizen vibe here, exactly what we were looking for. The place is clean, nice decor, roomy. The staff is pleasant but very sparse. I saw one hostess and two waitresses the entire time we were there. Our entrees were nothing special, over fried fish and institutional fries, doubtful anything was made by hand. Much prefer the food at Cracker Barrel. Wings were supposed to be the best around but husband said they were just okay. And prices were about the same as a very good restaurant across the street, Rumbas. I think this may be a better place to enjoy breakfast. We will not return here.

I went there 2 times so far for breakfast. I had biscuits and gravy and another time eggs up biscuit grits. It was good. Nothing amazing but for the money it was very good. The servers and managers were very nice

I had a ham and cheese sandwich. The ham was boiled and one thin slice. The bread skimpy and the tomatoes very thinly sliced on iceberg lettuce. There was a side of beef vegetable soup that was good. My husband had chicken salad sandwich and commented about how small the bread was. We felt it was not a good value for the money. Maybe their breakfast are a better deal?

Family owned place with decades of delicious food and wonderful servers and staff. Fresh gulf grouper can't be beat. Healthy portions and reasonable pricing make this one of my family's favorites. Recommend calling ahead for a reservations if you like to dine early. French onion soup, potato salad, cole slaw & sandwiches are very good too. Clean too!

Just plain good food! The crowd maybe more senior to me but I like it. The breakfast/brunch menu is the best. My dad likes to go for Sunday Brunch. They have the biggest link sausages I have ever seen and the best waffles.

We stumbled on this place on the way to Busch Garden. The breakfast was nice for the price. We were able to feed 3 for under $20. We ordered fruit, banana french toast, cinnamon roll, wheat toast, grits, bacon, cheese eggs and sausage. the service was pretty good as well. I would go again~

I just ate here tonight and to me it is a bit below average. I got the prime rib and it wasn't very good. And my mashed potatoes tasted like instant. My coke was flat. The service was fine, no real complaints there. I will not be eating here again though. It was definitely not worth the $14.95 for my meal (not including the drink price). I wish I had gone to Cody's Roadhouse instead. It is a million times better for pretty much the same prices.
