I moved to Ocala from Tampa area and find the restaurant selection for a Vegan pretty much non existent. The chef was wonderful saying that he can do any dish Vegan. I was so thrilled. Wait staff wonderful and the ambiance pretty good. I will definitely return!

Excellent service! Excellent food! The banana pudding will make you slap yo' Mama!! Excellent ambience, especially to be inside a Holiday Inn.

Great service, great food. I enjoyed the pork dumplings for starters and finished with a New York Strip Asian style. Ambiance ia nice. Music was the same beat over and over. Got annoying.

Over priced, bland food. $5.00 for a teabag and a cup of hot water. Lo mein barely had any taste. Much better Asian food nearby that is worth the price.

We had family in from out of town so we thought this would be a nice place to take them. It was awesome. The waitstaff is on top of it. We had the Thai chicken and shrimp which was awesome so spicy. We had lettuce wraps, Mongolian chicken and shrimp and crispy shrimp (not sure what that was called). It's so nice to be able to go to a place with ambience in little old Ocalla. Sky is now our new favorite!

My husband and I recently dined at this establishment during a one night stay at his hotel. We started out with a couple drinks at the bar. The drinks were well mixed and the prices were not as high as I thoug they would be. Now, here are the three reasons I gave this restaurant four stars: 1. Service - professional, efficient amd friendly. 2. Appetizer - We tried the Chef's Sampler which was one of the specials that day, the spare ribs, rangoons and egg rolls were the best I have had in a long time! 3. Dessert - After a disappointing, we decided to order a dessert. The white chocolate bread pudding was delicious and I still dream about it! It definitely helped us leave the restaurant on a high note! Now the only con: 1. Our main course - We both made the mistake of ordering Thai dishes, both of which included some spice or ingredient which gave the two meals a nasty bitter taste. I had the Thai duck and my husband had a Thai shrimp and chicken dish. Luckily, the outstanding appetizers and dessert saved our visit from total disaster. I can honestly say I would go back and just have appetizers and dessert next time.

We arrived around 9:00pm. We went up for a night cap, however after the delicious aroma we decided to eat. We ordered the Chef Special appetizer which consisted of the ribs, beef spring rolls, and crab won tons. My husband and I are looking forward to returning, and so we will be taking a trip back to Ocala soon. We sat at the bar and were very impressed with how clean the bar tenders kept the bar area. Everyone was very friendly.

I eat here every year as a tradition. It's a great environment, but that's just the first impression. The wait staff is awesome, and there's a dish here for every kind of patron. I suggest bringing a large party here and ordering different dishes. The tables rotate, so it's a great chance for some good family-style dining.

Located in the holiday inn express on the top 6th floor Dishes are served family style with a lazy Susan in the middle table Appetizers between 7 to 12 Main dishes 12 to 40 For 3 of us bill was 87 no alcohol Food and service are surprisingly good

Not many good restaurants in Ocala, Fl - and that this is in a Holiday Inn makes it even more questionable - however, this is really good!

Friendly, and fun staff. On top of getting you what you want. Nice bar in well stocked and very clean. If you are in the hotel, pop in for dinner. I had the Generals Tso chicken.....tasty....recommend the lettuce wraps.

  • One of the best restaurants in the town of Ocala in Frorida. Even for a German business men the food is very goods and it is not to much american style likly. Also the wine card and is in a really goods shape. I really can recommend this restaurant. Please dress not to causel cause it is a restaurant with style. Cheers and enjoy

I've been here many times for dinner and have always loved it, BUT this time is different... Came for lunch and it was a big disappointment. Service was fair, but not great. Food was so bland... No flavor at all! I was with a large group, and none of us was satisfied. The lunch bowls and lunch boxes were yuck. Blah bland yuck. What a bummer.

The service and food here never disappoint. The spring rolls are fantastic, the service is fantastic, and the ambiance is beautiful.

Took the misses here, for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance and decor are top notch for anywhere, let alone Ocala. For the appetizer, we had the crab wonton. My memories kinda fuzzy on the entrée (either mahi or duck). Enjoyed the meal thoroughly, even if it's a bit pricey. Service was above average, with attention shown to details. Would recommend to others, for the window view alone.

Over priced.. Food is nothing to write home about.. Seems a bit strange this is the second time here and no one is ever here.. I give this place one more year.. They will be gone...

Sky has a good setting with nice scenery as it sits on the top floor of the Holiday Inn Ocala. However that's where the positive things stop. The food is just not that good and the service is horrible too. I've had many different dishes here and none of them have been worthy enough for me to finish or even take home. Salty, oily, too sweet, and mushy, all have been words used by friends to describe some of the dishes. If you don't mind paying a lot of money for bad food, then this is your place. It's a shame that Sky has gotten so bad, because a few years ago it was really good and absolutely worth the money.

Absolutely a wonderful meal. The Kung pao chicken was the best ever. The flavor was smoky and deep.

I love Asian food and this fell way below the mark. :( All they really have going for them is the ambiance and appetizers. We ordered the lettuce wraps, hoisin ribs and wontons, which were delicious. I ordered General's Chicken, which the server forgot and I ended up getting as takeout, and my husband ordered the Kung Pao Chicken. Both were beyond bland without an ounce of spice like advertised and not worth the calories. Very disappointing! The server also messed up my Mom's order. Overall he was about as good as the entrees. Two thumbs down. :(

Stopped into SKY ASIAN FUSION today for lunch and was very surprised to see a totally revamped LUNCH MENU. the word FUSION seemed to be put aside sometimes here...but the new menu items bring it to life in a big way. I tried the new Panko Chicken Salad....and it was INCREDIBLE. I normally can do some real damage on any salad...but this was so big, i actually took some home for later. A plate piled high with crispy panko encrusted chicken cut-up filet, super-fresh salad greens and blended with a really tasty peanut based dressing. it was filling, light, and very fresh. THE BEST PART - my lunch salad was only $8!!!! for a freshly made, gourmet salad that would cost $15 on South Beach or Time Square. When looking through the lunch menu, i noticed the new BENTO BOXES, lots of other new lunch entrees and i can only assume that the dinner menu has been revamped as well

Sky Asian Fusion is a very cool place to eat. The atmosphere is very trendy and warm, even the view of the hotel atrium is nice. The server, Drew, did an excellent job. Our meals were very good and servings were huge. I wish the dining room was more intimate. There were lots of customers in Sky that night. Our table was 2 feet away from a family of 4 so we could easily hear their conversation. Lose a few tables but give me a little more privacy. Overall, we had a great experience, but I wish it felt more like fine dining and less like Applebee's.

More like 3.5 stars. Food is pretty decent but can get a little pricey. It is meant to be shared which is a nice concept. Same owners also own Ipanema in Ocala (Brazlian) The chicken lettuce wraps and rib are good appetizers, the basic oriental food - hunan beef, etc. are flavorful also. A little better pricing might edge it to 4 stars

Sky just hosted a party for 50 pp for my husband & I. Everything was perfect!. Manish the manager met with us a couple of times beforehand and stayed in contact with us throughout the planning. The chef and waitstaff did an excellent job! Food was hot, plentiful, and delicious! We highly recommend them to host an event! I did ask for a single orchid to be placed on the tables. When we arrived Manish explained that he would have had to purchase whole plants. It was not necessary so was not a problem.

I see mixed reviews for this restaurant and I can understand why. The decor of this restaurant is definitely Asian and was surprised to see this restaurant in Holiday Inn. Could have found this place in Hong Kong. As to the food, it is a mixed bag. My friend gave me scallop from her plate and it was very good, soft and juicy. As for the pre fix dinner of steamed dumpling, Mongolian beef, orange chicken and lomein, I would have found them at take out restaurant in any major cities. The rich decor of the restaurant and our pre fix dinner didn't match. Yes, decor is important but we come for the dishes.

I have such mixed feelings about this place. The food is asian, asian inspired and not asian at all. On the plus side, service from the waiter was impeccable and the manager even stopped by to check on us. The 3 appetizers were delicious starting with the squid salad which was a shade salty, but the crunchy veggies, chilies, sweet squid and cool cucumber made it good. I don't know how the oysters stuffed with fresh spinach and parmesan cheese was anyway asian inspired but they were briny and delicious. The third appetizer was the chicken lettuce wrap which were plentiful and fun to eat. Now the bad news.. the curry duck was disappointing and way over cooked. The lemongrass beef had no lemongrass flavor at all and the beef was dry and stiff and was also over cooked. The white rice was the lowest quality you could probably buy. Since the location is the top floor of a Holiday Inn, there was a mix of running children, dressed up date night couples, bros at the bar and small dinner parties, which is much like the menu, a wide range of a little something for everyone. The party of 3 next to us all ordered the NY strip steak and french fries and enjoyed it very much.

Yes its easy if your staying at the holiday inn. Yes they have a Gluten Free menu. But NO THE FOOD IS NOT GOOD. The bar was out of most alcohol, how does this happen? My food came out wrong the first time and the second time it was just gross. Never again!

OK, went to Sky with the whole family for a "day after Thanksgiving and no one wants to cook" dinner. We had nine people and luckily had reservations so we were seated right away. I don't know what Rick S was talking about but there is NOT a view of downtown Ocala from the sixth floor of the Holiday Inn. I consider this a good thing since if you have ever been to downtown Ocala you know there is nothing to see. They were really busy when we got there and it took about 15 minutes before we saw the first glass of water on our table. However our drink order had been taken shortly after we sat down and so, after that long initial wait, all of our drinks showed up quickly. The atmosphere is nice and the entire public area of the hotel sticks to the Asian theme. The big tables use lazy susans so that everyone can share all the dishes that are ordered. They have a full bar, a good wine list, and a selection of American and Asian beers. One knock is that they did not have Sapporo. The timing of the food was perfect. Appetizers arrived just as we were ready and the entrees followed just after. We had the sticky hoison ribs and the soothing chicken lettuce wraps as appetizers. Both were very good. For the entrees we had Mongolian beef (tender and tasty), orange chicken, Emperor's chicken (breaded and little spicy), lemongrass beef (with asparagus), szechuan shrimp (what I ordered; nice combo of spice and flavor), and shaking beef (beef filets, super tender, yumm). All the food was distinctive and flavorful. After our initial wait to get drinks, the service was wonderful. As you might expect from a party of nine, we ran our server a bit ragged once our food started to arrive. She handled us without trouble or hestitation and never forgot a request. My initial thought for rating was four and a half stars but of course I can't rate a half star so do I go up . . . or down? I went up. This restaurant is exceptional for Ocala.

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT! The food and service here were TERRIBLE! Service: Why were we seated away from everyone else, in the corner? Is it because we weren't white, as all the other patrons were? Who knows? Also, when the waiter brought us the wrong entree, he argued with us that it was the right entree!!!! WTF?! Another waiter cursed under his breath when we told him our food was cold!!! Food: The most subpar Asian Fusion food I have ever had. None of our dishes were flavorful. Half of them were COLD. Even the easiest to make mongolian beef (or something like that) was freaking distasteful! What the hell?!! Bottom line: THIS RESTAURANT DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR MONEY!

I can't believe there are so many with so vastly different opinions. The food was good, artistic and flavorful. The Tom Collins I had was made precisely the way it should be. Service was very good. What's not to like?

Best service I've had in awhile - see Selenia. My food was spicy (I ordered mild) and she immediately swept it away and I had a new dish on my table in 5 minutes - didn't even have to ask. Don't be fooled by the fact the restaurant is on the 6th floor of the Holiday Inn - very cool decor and theme going on. Big sake selection and they let you sample if you ask. I had the Dr. Loosen Riesling and it was amazing.

I sincerely respect what they're trying to do; I just think that what they are actually doing is at best okay and at worst nonsensical. Their lettuce wraps are probably the best thing on the menu; though nothing that really sets it apart from any other lettuce wrap I've ever had. The Sweet and Sour Panko Pork can best be described as Sweet & Sour Schnitzel (not too bad mind you). The "Lunch Bowl" collection is only slightly better than take-out (though I still contend that Great Wall has way better General Tso's Chicken). The Kobe Burger sounds like a good idea (no red onion confit on MY burger as they and I forgot it...argh). The Crispy Crab Wontons with Lemongrass-Strawberry sauce is especially horrifying!! What is the chef thinking? The Spring Rolls are okay (though this one still goes to the pork spring rolls at Christy's/Mides Oriental Store hands down). The place has a very nice vibe and great decor. The table cloths and napkins are cloth. The flatware is modern and high quality. The food, while decent, is still far from great and further still from excellent.

I agree with Food C.'s review. It is a bit pretentious and overly priced for subpar Asian Fusion. I always feel bad when everyone recommends this place because Ocala lacks posh restaurants but the food is not worth the ambiance. Maybe just for apps and drinks, certainly not dinner. I'd rather drive to Orlando or Gaineville.

Went for lunch and it was very good! Ordered the calamari salad and then the tuna. Plan on coming back for sure. Prices are on par with other restaurants of this caliber. Highly recommend.

I love the atmosphere at the restaurant. Ton's of flavor. You can get brown rice instead of the traditional white which is good. Since I do not eat chicken, beef or pork they have veggie spring rolls, veggie lettuce wraps and plenty of shrimp and fish dishes. Great drinks. Hip place to hang also. Pricey but worth it.

I was very surprised to find this wonderful restaurant in Ocala. We stayed over night at the Holiday Inn and were delighted to not have to search the city for a good place to eat. We are frequent guest of Holiday Inn but I believe this is one of the prettiest hotels we've stayed in. I was very impressed with the decor overall. We were seated quickly without a reservation. We sat near the window that overlooked the City of Ocala. The lights from the city were very pretty. Our waitress was wonderful and very helpful. We started with the Tuna Bruschetta which was excellent very vibrant flavors. I ordered the Fillet of Beef; which was good but a bit overcooked more medium than medium rare. The wasabi mashed potatoes and asparagus were good. My husband ordered the Seabass at the waitress' suggestion and it was awesome very flavorful. We ordered dessert and were rewarded with beautiful works of art. I had the chocolate tower and my husband choose the bread pudding. Both desserts were lovely and delicious. I was not disappointed and felt the menu prices were well worth it.

We arrived at the Sky...greeted by a very overweight hostess that was talking on her cell as we came in...she made a half-hearted attempt to open the door for us and fumbled with her phone as she made apologies. We were seated in a nearly empty restaurant at prime dining hour (not a good indication). I was "spooked" at the things I noticed as we walked to our table...The cooks "tweenagers" (twenty-somethins and teenagers) playing grabass in the kitchen/grill area...I didn't see a single Asian-descent face (warning no.2). Our waiter had a huge tattoo on the side of his neck (a big turnoff to us). He explained "Sky" food was a "fusion" of Phillipino , Japanese, Chinese and Korean foods and would be "The best dining experience we would ever have!" (came off as practiced and disingenuous)...So, we excused ourselves for a few minutes and only ordered drinks...and went to the bathrooms. The decor is very nice, clean table cloths and Asian-inspired...purportedly owned/operated by the Brazilian Steakhouse folks...I find it hard to believe Brazilians know anymore about Asian-Fusion than a housewife from Pookeepsie. I told my wife to keep it simple and we returned to the table. I ordered a sampler platter. Chinese dumplings, ribs and spring rolls ($12). The waiter asked if I wanted steamed or fried dumplings, I ordered steamed...they arrived fried. What arrived a few minutes later was 2 ribs about 3" by the width of a finger, ONE spring roll and two dumplings about normal size (I suspect they were restaurant supplier dumplings and not freshly prepared)...So, I asked..."Are these spring rolls and dumplings prepared fresh - here?" "No sir, we contract with a specialty-supplier - we get lots of compliments on them!" Two gulps and sneeze later, I'd finished their "Fusion" from an Asian Food Supplier specialties...We paid - left and didn't complain. Poor execution, small portions, high prices and untrained staff are all we experienced at Sky.

Absolutely fabulous! Walk into the club like atmosphere and just soak up the energy. The tables are terrific... large, round, wood tables with a frosted glass lazy susan embedded into the middle of it. The chairs are large and comfortably padded, inviting you to sit for hours. There were 5 of us; we ordered 3 appetizers, 4 entrees and three sides, everything perfectly scrumptious. Everyone's favorite was the mongolian beef, but the pad thai noodles and the garlic eggplant were a very close second and third. And the crispy calamari salad was the guys' favorite. There was more than enough food, we actually brought some home. The service was fantastic, even though our server was obviously busier than she would like at one point, she never was anything less than attentive to us. I can't wait to go back!

My boyfriend and I had to travel to Ocala recently for a family event. I arrived a few days earlier, and when my boyfriend arrived, we checked into The Holiday Inn. He was starving as he had been traveling all day and didn't eat. We had a family dinner at 7:00, but he needed something to tide him over. We went up to the Sky Asian Fusion and sat at the bar, ordered a drink and he asked for a menu. The bar and restaurant was empty, as we were there on a weekday at an odd time. LOVED the decor. It appeared very clean, and I had heard good things about the restaurant from a friend who lives in Ocala. I ordered a glass of white wine and my boyfriend ordered a margarita. The wine was nice and my boyfriend enjoyed his margarita. The appetizer list was limited, and again, he just needed something to tide him over until dinner. He settled on the lobster dumplings. I wasn't hungry so I wasn't interested in trying them, but he asked me to try them. They were HORRIBLE! It tasted like pure soy sauce and left a horrible taste in my mouth. And neither of us tasted anything that resembled lobster. He ate them because he was starving, but would not recommend at all. I wasn't sure how to rate this, as the atmosphere is very nice and it would be a nice place to have drinks, but based on the appetizer alone, I wouldn't waste my money to see if their entrees were any better.

I have eaten at Ocala's Sky Asian Fusion Restaurant on several occasions, and every occasion was very enjoyable, with delicious food served quickly. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting; the tables are large, and waiters are well-trained and attentive. Love the LETTUCE WRAPS, GENERAL TAO's CHICKEN, and the SESAME CRUSTED SALMON. Servings are plentiful. Next I hope to go to Sky Asian Fusion on a Sunday for their SUNDAY BRUNCH.

Very good service. The date night, Thursday, was a good deal at $40 for two meals. We had spring rolls, sesame crusted salmon, General Tao's chicken and fried rice. Delicious food. Highly recommended restaurant.

Excellent service. Great decor .. very yuppy =) by Ocala standards. I have dined here twice before this time stopped in for lunch. The appetizer ( tofu lettuce wraps) came out in flash and was VERY plentiful. I would have been fine just munching on them for lunch, very filling. Excellent flavor, super crisp cool lettuce. I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch bowl which came with choice of soup and a spring roll. Again plentiful portions and awesome flavor. The hot and sour , yummy ! The beef was super tender, the jasmine rice cooked to perfection. The spring roll was the only meh. It had a sweet flavor that I wasn't too fond of. Also I love their water with slice of cucumber. Tastes so much better than lemon !! Over all , good job Sky ! Will surely dine in again, and again...lol

first off my wife and I are both of Asian backgrounds and have recently lived in Los Angeles where we ate every type of food one can imagine. With that said we both thought Sky was excellent, we came in 15 min before close and everyone was still very helpful and nice. As far as asian fushion goes this place hit it on the spot.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
