Drive by this place almost everyday and tempted by sign " lobster buffet" As previous reviewer says not buffet but $50.00 platter offered with fried fish crabs, shrimp. Since I do not eat fried food I looked for something else. Wife big lobster fan went for the lobster dinner [ 15.00 ] which is crazy cheap . I had trouble, everything is fried, no grilled fish, no broiled fish, seemed strange for a seafood shack. Ordered upeelem shrimp, steamed clams, and raw oysters. Shrimp ok . standard old bay seasoning not overcooked, oysters not bad expected better quality from " oyster bar " but acceptable, the clams were not good, no broth , laid out on a plastic plate , dry, rubbery, very poor quality. Lobster came with french fries and coleslaw. You could smell the lobster right away. it was not fresh killed, tasted like freezer burned. seems that they froze the entire lobster then somehow cooked it [ probably re-boiled] Very dis-appointed . Could not , would not eat it. Turned out not so cheap. Stay away

we went because they have a sign that says "all you can eat lobster buffet". there was no buffet. with a buffet, you choose what food you want to eat. the waitress brought us a large tray loaded with crawfish (i don't like), very small crabs (4 that were way too much work for teeny tiny bites of crab), and a hanburger bun they called "garlic bread". there was a small serving of what i thought was mini hush puppies but my friend said they were fried shrimp. we also had some kind of fried fish that was tasteless. and of course a lobster. it was alll you can eat when you can get the waitress' attention then wait for the food. the waitress was not friendly. the service wasn't great. the lobster was good. i can go to a much nicer restaurant for better food and better service for $50 per person. ($40 plus tax and tip)

It is a Friday night and the place is empty. Crab legs, mussels, fried oysters, coleslaw was good. Clams had no flavor and scallops overcooked chewy. Those 2 items bad. Overall would come back to try something else. Crawfish!!!

Best service on a date night! My favorite place. They were busy ran out of wine glasses and our server was happy and so sweet. I did not even care about the cup or anything else she made our night

Okay place. Crawfish overdone, oysters were good and shrimp so-so. Live music and a great place for locals. They seemed to be having a blast. Good luck to the new waitress.....

This was our second dining experience at the new location on Hwy 27 hoping they were going to be a bit better, but the oysters were not very good. They were put on a plate and a bucket of ice was dropped on top of them. I went to the bathroom and it convinced me not to come back until they get their plumbing fixed. There was a sign stating "Please do not flush any tissue or paper towels in the toilet." Not appealing.

Walked in at 930pm. No one there. Kitchen still open. Went to sit at the bar. FILTHY AND STICKY AND SKUMMY. Not just one seating. The entire bar, the entire place. When my hard to displease husband says "I can't eat here"... I know that a sign to avoid food borne illness. Yuk. I'm still upchucking. Why can't people just clean and have pride in their place?

We came to the newer location with 8 adults and 2 small children for an early dinner and had a great time. The food was very good and came quickly. We had raw oysters which were big and fresh and a great price (about $19 for 20.) The people in our party had everything from steamed shrimp to fried clams & oysters to cheeseburgers to sirloin steak and everyone enjoyed their meals. As for the complaints about this place, it's not a fancy seafood restaurant, more like a pub atmosphere. The service was quick and pleasant and the decor is nothing special, but not awful. It was happy hour from 4-7 and karaoke, which started early at 7. We're glad we went and will be back.

Nice little hole in the wall oyster joint! I've not been disappointed with the food yet. The oysters are good raw and steamed, the sauce the mussels are served in is very good and full of flavor and the crawfish were great too. Also - the oysters are very large! Everything is priced pretty well and there are always some specials going on that include a pitcher of beer (can't go wrong with that!). All the while, you can smoke a hookah with your meal. So if you see the joint, I'd recommend you try it out - even if it seems a little strange from the outside (and the inside), the food and service are great.

We stopped in after arriving in from Georgia and we were kind of skeptical because of reviews we had read but it was the only thing open on our way to the hotel. We had fried shrimp, fried oysters and the ribeye. Everything was delicious and we were very pleasantly surprised.

No! Food is over priced and the place is nasty dirty... Just say no! We moved tables 6 times due to freezing cold climate, hot, messy dirty tables, or the worst there was a moldy ceiling tile that looked like it's been leaking for months dripping on a booth... Service was too notch but food and cleanliness looks like they should be shut down.. I hope with all the money they make they can clean it up.. They would have potential

Bad food, very slow service. Steamed oysters were over cooked. Clams were not edible. The only thing that was good were the coconut shrimp which probably came off a food service trick. Beer was good but that's hard to screw up.

okay sometimes it is about choices I went and ordered fried fish (catfish) and fried clams - yeah they were good, the coleslaw not bad, should have had oysters though after all it is a oyster bar the dining partner had a fried oyster sandwich, which was very good, oysters were cooked to the proper consistency will have to go again to try more dishes

Stopped in on Saturday for a few Pints, and some lunch. Ordered 1/2 Bucket of steam clams (20 clams), and a fish sandwich with fries and slaw. Man! It hit the spot! Nice comfortable place to watch Saturday Football too! Thanks Vanessa!

A proper Southern seafood joint for anyone looking for a great affordable dinner and American experience. Beer, crawdads, oysters, clams, good hushpuppies, and a Greek salad to keep everything together. What could be better? Open Mondays. Friendly staff, clean restroom.

This place has the best oysters in town, some of the other food can be over cooked sometimes. The wait staff is super friendly and so is Murphy. This place is a bit of a hole in the wall, but all my friends and I are HOOKED!

  • Larry H.

Nice atmosphere with tv's for footballl watching and "authentic" booths/oyster bar flavor. Snow crab was overcooked. Wine too cold. Asked for oysters first and got them last of so-so quality. Greek salad was ok. Some crabs on platter were quite good. More timely service and 2 *. Really 1.5 as is.

I happened upon this place while visiting a relative in Ladylake. I was driving thru Ocala and saw the word "OYSTER" and made a quick u turn to check out the place. I have been hooked ever since. From the wings to the oysters, everything on the menu is good and pretty cheap. The good part about Murphy's is now they have a live DJ, so you can eat to your hearts content, dance of some calories and not feel guilty. This place is a must visit when your in Ocala.
