I dig this place, the food is OK, the prices have increased over time, but the staff are young kids that are always very good at what they're doing & the manager they have is a cool cat. The MAIN EVENT is the hot sauce bar! I LOVE this thing, 10-12 sauces ranging from mild to 'melt your face' HOT! They have their mainstays, that are always there (all very good...), as well as really cool & creative hot sauces... honey infused, curry combined, datil-pepper, hundreds of choices & you can buy them (even the ones not featured, ask for the hot sauce menu/pamphlet thing...) I always keep it simple when ordering, a beef chimichanga, tacos, or burrito & let the sauces make it nice, I always walk out of there w/ a bottle of my favorite or one I want to try... It's gotten increasingly pricier to go there the last few years, it's no longer in my 'cheap eats' category for lunch, ( Mexican food-wise ) but not bad at all... I'm a huge fan of both the sauces & the staff!

Awesome burritos! Everything else looks really good, but I always get the same thing every time I go here. Blackened chicken burrito. The sauce selection is the best (try the sweet chilli sauce). I like the atmosphere too, and good music.

Different from what I expected, but it was really good food. I had the flautas and loved them! Guacamole was good, fresh, and they gave you a lot! I do wish they had a little bigger cup for the salsas at the salsa bar, but it was cool to be able to try all the different kinds. Going back for sure!

I have mixed feelings. The food is just ok, I dong think I can say I love it or that it would be a top three choice. I do and don't like so many choices on the menu, ways to have your food prepared, sauces to choose from, etc. It is good for something quick for lunch but that's about it.

My family and I really like to go here. The food is always fresh and hot and the service is outstanding. The place is more often than not very clean and the younger kids (teenagers) that work there are super courteous. The only thing I don't agree with is the charge for sour cream when you are deleting 2-3 other items off your order. This is a great place to get a fair priced lunch as they have two tacos and a drink for $5.99

We stopped in here for some quick Mexican food. Service was good and friendly; you order at the counter and they deliver to your table. The food was good and prices reasonable. A different style decor that I liked. It has a giant hot sauce bar with over 15 different sauces to try. If you love hot sauce, you'll love this place.

I love their food, the prices are good. They don't use microwaves and they have natural chicken and fresh ingredients. Can't beat that!!

I'm a big fan. They have a location in Orlando, too. I lived there for 6 years and when I found this place, I fell in love. Always fresh. The chicken burrito is my favorite. Their salsa is fresh and delicious. I love the combination of sweet sauce, hot sauce and salsa with the sour cream. It's a party in my mouth!! Fun atmosphere, too.

Food was very good. Portions were about right . . . Would have preferred more chips, but don't need the extra calories. Service is great for an "order at the counter" set-up. Nice relaxing atmosphere.

So we visited this place for the first time today. Had a great lunch. We ordered a burrito, quesadillas with chicken and a beef taco. We really liked all of it. The big buffet of spicy sauces they offer is fun! We - as visitors - appreciate the free wifi as well! And as everyone already noted: the staff is really very friendly and helpful! We will definitely be back!!

Fun spot with friendly knowledgeable staff. Tasty TexMex food with a salsa bar like no other. You can also purchase bottles of most of the salsas after discovering your favorites. The staff is very attentive and will help you any way they can, including fetching you a beverage refill. Colorful graffiti style decor. Outdoor tables available. Good prices. I'll be back.

The service was super fast!!! Got my food right after I picked my sauces at the sauce bar!!!

It's a Tijuana Flats. Good food, made better by great hot sauces. This location compliments that with great accommodating service.

It's never a good sign when you walk in to a restaurant and someone has to guide you through the menu. You should be able to walk in and know immediately whether you should expect to be seated, take a seat, or order at a counter. This is very confusing at this establishment. The food, however, is worth the mild confusion. It is tex-mex with a hot sauce bar. The hot sauces on the bar are mostly Asian, though. It is strange, but tasty. This place will get five stars when they tighten up so e of the confusion.

So delicious! Great menu with lots of options . The sauce bar is out of this world! Staff was friendly and even stayed past their shift to accommodate us. Highly recommend!!

Cheap, good location, fast. They do have beer. Service was amazing as they kept circling the tables to help you for refills, etc But, as I had experienced before, food was cold. Everything was as if it were frozen, then heated up. Enchilada needed more microwaving. No free chips. Lots of sauces for your liking. Not impressed and not much as changed. Only came because someone was treating lunch and wanted to come here. Otherwise, not returning. Think Taco Bell may be a better bet.

This place is amazing! We don't have one in my city but really wish we did. It is like a Chiptole but waaaaay better. They use fresh ingredients and hormone free meat which is great. I almost wish it was a sit down restaurant but I don't mind ordering at the counter. Now if only they served margaritas :)

I had plenty of lunches @ TF. I agree about the whole DIY but convenience and service is why we go out. Sure I could make all of the items at most of the restaurants. but I'm not that motivated nor do i want to have the burden of having to store and eat Mexican all month. The decorations and ambiance is hip and cool bright and lively. Makes me smile thinking about the place. The girls appears to have requirements of either Tats, piercings or both. it's cool that they encourage individuality hair color and all. They all know the menu up and down. The sauce bar has a nice selection from sissy to burn you up hot. A great way to try other sauces before plunking down 4-15 bucks for a whole bottle of sauce. The servings are OK they have some specials during happy hour. I wanted to give them 5 stars as they can get pricey if you eat there every day. Ya know some of us are on a Fixed income. Some how if the value was greater either more food or smaller prices. that could make a 4 to a 5 star place. so Yay! I'm a fan . Thanks to Greg Z. for reminding me of one of my favorite Naples restaurants. "I'll BE BAWWK" *Arnold Schwarzenegger voice *

Fun atmosphere inside the dining area; a very laid-back, surfer, grunge rock feel to it. The food is very solid. The wide selection of hot sauces at the self-serve bar makes Tijuana Flats very unique from most other restaurants in its category. The service is also very friendly, fast, and efficient - right up there with the customer service that you would experience at a Chick-fil-A.

Happy hour is 3-7pm, $1.75 drafts and $2.00 wine. We had the tacos, flautas, chimichanga, and noburrito. Everything tasted good and was prepared well. The sauce bar is a novel idea. I'm not huge on vinegar-based sauces, so not much appealed to me.

Absolutely love this place, the selection if hot sauces is just amazing, prices extremely good for quality of food, they keep their overhead low because you order from register and service staff brings food

The food is good. It is a good alternative to Chipotle, if you want to change it up a bit within the quick Mexican style cuisine.

Skip this place and cook D I Y tacos at home. This is nothing more than institutionalized fast food. Enchiladas were loaded with cheap salty cheddar and canned beans and lukewarm rice. The hot sacuce bar, though a unique feature, does not make up for awful food. The sangria was watered down plonk filled with crushed ice.Though the area is not known for outstanding Mexican food, this is clearly a place to skip.

i really feel like i'm in crazy town. i realize that my reviews make me seem like a taco nazi, but i guess growing up in Chicago with a Mexican best friend does that to you. Tijuana Flats is one of our best friend's favorite Mexican joints. his opinion on food is no longer valid. after an awful experience a year ago, our friend's enthusiasm about Tijuana Flats convinced us to give it another try two days ago. honestly. HONESTLY. taco bell is better than this place you want to serve bland chicken in a hard shell taco? fine. you want to stuff your humongous soft flour tortilla only 1/4th of the way for a burrito? kudos. you want to bread some weak ass mahi, lay it in tacos, and cover up the flavor with jalapenos? power to you. just don't charge me so much for this crappy food! said friend served catered Tijuana Flats at a party at his place. then he served the leftovers from it at another party three days later. it tasted exactly the same from when it was served "fresh" to us. at the restaurant. the hot sauce bar? WHO NEEDS IT? i'm truly confused why they serve chips with everything when there is no SALSA. am i supposed to be dipping my overly seasoned chips into the teeny tiny thimble-sized containers of hot sauce?? the menu essentially consists of kiddie menu food, with ridiculous prices and a hot sauce bar that exists to cover up the lack of flavor in the actual food. and on a final note: WHAT KIND OF 'MEXICAN/TEX-MEX' RESTAURANT DOESN'T SERVE SOFT CORN TORTILLAS?!?!? this has been boggling my mind. (service was fine, except there was an employee that kept on clearing food when tables weren't done with it. relax, lady!)

Nice decor and good selection of sauses. As for the food....it is nothing special. The salsa was bland and lacked flavor. The fish tacos were below average.

Food was decent, price as expected. In between Taco Bell and Moe's. Nothing special I wouldn't be driving out of my way to go to. Staff was friendly and attentive.

Just so so. The "format" of this place isn't all that user friendly. You pick up your own menu, select your own table, then go to the counter to place your own order. Food is then served to you at your table. This place is just a step or two above a Taco Bell, and for the money I would head across the street to Moes next time.

Love the hot sauce bar which gives it a more unique vibe. So far I've been to two Tijuana Flats and they've both had a different selection of hot sauces at the bar which is nice because it gives you a chance to try new ones. My favorite thing to order is the taco salad here but so far I've been pleasantly pleased by everything I've tried

The staff here always seems happy and helpful. I'm a fan of the nachos and the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. The fresh jalapenos they use can sneak up on you, so use caution ! So far I've been a whimp and only have tried the mild sauces from the hot sauce bar.

The staff was great! I had enchiladas and appreciated knowing and being able to edit what came on top of the enchilada. The hot sauce bar was overwhelming and had some tasty sauces. I didn't care for the most popular one, but I prefer my hot sauce to actually be hot and I had plenty of choices.

All I can say is wow. The service was outstanding. The woman that greater us at the door explained the menu to us and told us about the specials. It was an order when you come in and sit down and they will bring you your food kind of place. When we went it was happy hour so draft beer was $1.25 yippee for me. we got an appitizer called the trio... It was chips with queso (omg so good), guacamole (like mine with more lime but good), and salsa (didnt care for it too much). Everything was refillable... Yep queso and all. The tacos were the biggest I have ever seen. The ground beef was something to be desired but I don't really like a lot of meat on my tacos too much I like more veggies (lettuce) in my tacos and it was chock full of meat. My other taco I had refried beans and chicken. My husband got black beans in his. That was really neat getting all those choices. Also they had 12 different sauces for your tacos at this cute little taco bar. One was called slap my butt (bad word) and call me sally. Cute name. There was a special for $4.99 and you get 2 tacos drink and chips. Great deal. Def try out for a casual meal.

The food is so good! I had never been to Tijuana Flats before, but I went two days in a row last week. I love the flautas. And there's so many delicious sauces to choose from. They also put the Bucs game on the TV for me while I was eating. My second visit was late on a Sunday evening. It was about 30 minutes before close, and I know I'm a jerk for coming that close to close, but the two girls working there were so nice. And they didn't ignore us so they could clean up. They refilled our drinks for us and didn't try to rush us out the door. It may not be that way all the time, but I received stellar service.

I love the fact that they have a hot sauce bar with maybe 20 different types from mild to super hot that you can help yourself too till your tongue falls out. The service is excellent and the food priced well and generous. Did I mention tasty! Oh and don't forget to show up after 3 or 4 pm its happy hour and a cold draft is only $1.25 :)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
