I love this place! Friendly service. Good food. Reasonable prices. And the BEST carrot cake ever!

Excellent ambience with live music and dim lighting as well as amazing management and customer service. Food is extremely delicious and would definitely recommend the Trinidad Tuna. The clam chowder is a must! Goat cheese ball appetizers is definitely a great way to start off your meal and the raspberry mojito was nothing short of amazing. Definitely a hidden gem in the Naples/Marco Island area. Check it out, you won't regret it!

Great atmosphere and service. View was great as was the food. The waiter was very accommodating to our 2 young children. Nice place

Pretend your Gordon Ramsey and what's perhaps the most common complaint when he judges dishes of Chef's or Line Cooks? Seasoning! Even a great cut of meat will be bland without proper seasoning and everything they brought us lacked seasoning. Sent back the Chowder for the first time in my life - appeared to be loaded with potatoes and clams we could see BUT they had no taste of even a Progresso canned chowder outside the overwhelming taste of FLOUR - simply terrible and again no seasoning. Fries were ALMOST as good as the Rally/Checkers type but again lacked SEASONING. Calamari - OK - Flash Fried nice dip but again not SEASONED! Burger was OK on a Pretzel Bun but lacked SEASONING - and just too big how about switching to sliders - Wendy's Pretzel and McD's Clubhouse is better.. GROUPER! Definitely not the best - for that go to Capt Kirk's Seafood Market adjacent to 5th Avenue in Naples and sit on the sidewalk and enjoy the best Grouper sandwich where they SEASON it to make it better than any burger and I'm not a fish lover - this is where you get the freshest and best Grouper and it's not even a restaurant folks but a seafood market. Again - Gypsy's lacked any SEASONING. Great place to sit waterside and drink with a breeze on a hot/humid FL summer day but the food failed to match many + reviews posted here. SEASON your Food will Ya and have more condiments than Frenches Mustard and standard Ketchup! Go drink and enjoy the sun/water breezes but don't expect the food to match many of these high reviews - maybe anything tastes good when your buzzed but sober it was all subpar and unseasoned and they boasted of the best chowder and it's the only chowder I've ever sent back and we're in our 60's. Vacationed in Naples/Captiva 20 years and retired here 1 year ago and so we're not tourist's judging on a whim. Sadly, most dining in this town is way overpriced and seemingly cooked by Line Cooks and not Chefs and most cannot match a dozen dining spots we frequented back in Michigan. Sorry, I don't want to have to go to the Ritz every week and spend $300 in the Grill Room - we've witnessed little chef quality in Naples (more akin to Line Cooks) yet the prices in this town should demand CHEFS!

This is the place to go if you want an outside Key West-like experience. Right on the water's edge. I had the chowder & Grouper sandwich & would highly recommend both. Very fresh tasting grouper. My server was very positive & attentive.

Fish, Fish, and more Fish! Gimme some of that and more of that. This place is right off the water on Island of Capri. It's got a great beach bar atmosphere. Nice staff members all around. We sit down at the table under the cabana, and this is what I hated... the special of the day-- prime rib. WHAT?!?! PRIME RIB! With all the fresh seafood coming out of the ocean?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? No thank you. But clearly, I indulged in seafood! I loved the clam chowder! It wasn't too thick, but nice and creamy. Great flavor. The peel and eat shrimp had great taste, but the texture was that of a rubbery balloon. Not too wonderful. I had the grouper sandwich for dinner. The taste was wonderful. Nice, thick, and flaky. I don't remember what everyone at the table had, but everyone enjoyed their meal. This is a place I would come back to because the atmosphere is fun and the food was pretty good.

Sunday noon and sunny in SW Florida. Nice place. We got a table next to the water put up the umbrella. 35 years ago THAT wouldn't have happened. Thinking we looked so wonderful with those sunburns when we were 25 is the reason we have to raise the umbrellas today. Our waiter was very nice and very busy but did well with all his tables. Drinks were good. Appetizer of conch fritters and coconut shrimp excellent. Then came the thin kid with the whiskers, in the black Columbia shirt and cranked down our umbrella. Just put it down without explanation. We said we wanted it up. He curtly said they could not be liable if it blew over and someone was hurt. One of our party said we would just leave. The kid must have finished psych 101 because he began scolding us, saying we didn't have to be like that, there were civilized ways to talk it through, you talk, I talk we reach a solution..yadayadayada...oops sorry, it's the only appropriate response to his annoying pompous dribble. We told our nice waiter we were moving away from the water and under the tiki hut, he was very accommodating. The fish sandwiches, grouper and swai, were not so good. Sunday in the sun, frying on the water with a mojito and app, just fine. Beware of the up and coming shrink in the black Columbia jersey. Cocky little s#*t.

Great food. I had the coconut shrimp and the sauce was to die for. Just a tad bit of spice. Great atmosphere.

Busy but able to get us right in. Great drink selection great service and atmosphere. Got the coconut shrimp. Very fresh and crispy. Fast service. Also had grouper sandwich. The grouper was very fresh. Great sandwich! And another got the fish tacos which were amazing and filling. Homemade potato chips were excellent. Definitely a great place to enjoy lunch outside with shading and a cool breeze by the water!!!!

I was down in Florida visiting family on Capri and stopped in to Island Gypsy in search of a nice sit down breakfast without going too far. I was not overly impressed, but considering the fact that its actually on Capri, the lack of travel necessity is definitely worth something. Atmosphere: Outdoor seating under gazebo-y pavilions or umbrellas on a deck surrounded by the marina. It's a relatively nice place to hang out if you're not looking for wide-open water views. As far as I can tell there is no inside, so if its hot out and sweltering isn't your thing then you may want to head elsewhere. Food: Passable. Not terribly expensive. It took a very long time (for egg dishes) to come out -- almost a half hour possibly. I had a very basic two-egg breakfast with home fries and wheat toast. My over-easy eggs were nicely cooked and the wheat bread was above average, but half of the potatoes were obviously undercooked. It seems they didn't have enough prepared and tried to rush it and mix it in, but it was very obvious. Service: Passable. Our server wasn't especially skilled and because the kitchen is so far away he was constantly running (literally) back and forth to bring food out to his tables. Overall I'd say this is an average option if you're already on Capri or are looking for something near the water, but don't want to deal with Marco or other busy locales.

Horrible experience. My husband had the Grouper special and I had the Cobb Salad. His fish was rubbery and over-cooked, mine was just bland. In addition, when we were seated they warned us about the bugs and with good reason. We were eaten alive by Mosquitos until they brought us some bug spray. Not very appetizing when you're eating. To top it all off, we both ended up with upset stomachs that lasted through the next day. This place has such a great atmosphere but we'll never be back.

A fun place to go and have a drink or a bite to eat on the water next to a small marina on the Isle of Capri. Great peel and eat shrimp, Fish Tacos and a very good Lobster Roll. Prices are reasonable and the wait staff is friendly. We have both driven there and gone by boat. They have tie up spots for those arriving by water. I have not eaten dinner there so I can't comment on that, but the lunches we have had were good. We have also just stopped to have a drink at the bar. Always fun. It can get a bit busy in season but is worth checking out.

Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Our server Eddie was extremely personable and made sure our needs were met. The food was great, all 6 in our party were very happy with our meals.

Coconut Shrimp. Must ...have...Coconut...Shrimp... This place is just perfect to relax. We stopped in at the recommendation of an employee of the Spa at the Marco Island Marriott Resort. We went back 3 days in a row during our stay- each time getting a beer and the Coconut Shrimp. Best we ever had- and we've traveled the globe. Look at renting a boat from the Marina and cruising around also- totally worth it. Stop in- you won't be disappointed.

This is my new favorite spot. It sits on Tarpon Bay and is located at the Isles of Capri Marina. You cannot have a better view of the water without having to deal with touristy cheesiness or outrageous prices. The bartenders, waitstaff, and owner are incredibly friendly. The food, especially the pizza, is very good. The atmosphere is very Key West, but without the trashiness or weird smells. Just a fun and low-key atmosphere. Very unique spot that has not become overrun with tourists or townies.

What a treasure tucked away in Isle of Capri! A chill tiki bar where the food is actually fantabulous. You will find more locals than tourists here and the bar stools are actually comfortable, which most bars neglect. I do wish they had hooks at the bar for purses but I love'em anyway. Enjoy looking out over the marina and catch the sunset. So, I can swear to you that you will love the food. The coconut shrimp is packed with flavor and you get 8 large shrimp for an appetizer. The fish tacos get my highest recommendation...I am a fish taco snob even, and these are really impressive. They are made with blackened mahi and a special zippy sauce. I haven't had it yet, but 2 separate groups at the bar also bragged about the grouper sandwich. I can't wait to go back. The bartender Steven will take good care of you...go see for yourself and enjoy the view!

Incredible selection of fresh and Delicious gourmet inspired island and American favorites. Appetizers, fantastic seafood and deserts are prepared to perfection both in quality, creative presentation and generous servings. Seriously the most authentic influences of Florida at its best are presented in an atmosphere of gorgeous natural beauty. Moved to Naples 25 years ago and finally found the perfect combination that makes this place the restaurant of all to "keep coming back" to for the next 25 years!

Great location and atmosphere. I must agree that the grouper sandwich is superb!! The bloody's are also top notch. Thanks Oliver...you kept us entertained...good luck with the Arizona election...lol!

We had the spinach artichoke dip it tasted like paste out of a can. We then tried the fish tacos - where was the fish - the tacos contains bits and pieces of fish. Overall very bad experience. The gentlemen playing music on the patio were fantastic

Hmm.. First let me start by saying the owner is a HUGE (insert curse word here)... I asked for gluten free options and the server looked at me like I was insane, went to get the owner and he YELLED at me! "Ya I have damn gluten free! What do you call this?! This is gluten free! This is too! Shouldn't you know?!" Uhh I know gluten free and I know certain things are made different ways.. Excuse me for being careful for my health.. Jerk. Ok so the good is it's a gorgeous location and such a fun bar to catch a drink! But I really hate supporting mean drunk owners..

My wife and I were in Marco Island for our honeymoon. Not really sure what was around, we were looking for something different for breakfast one morning. We found this place listed as a restaurant on the Isle of Capri, so we thought we'd check it out. When we first arrived, we weren't really sure where to go. The building at the address was a closed real estate office. Then we noticed a hut way back on the water. We decided to go check it out. Sure enough, that's the restaurant. It's an outdoor bar with a vaulted roof and no walls. We were there at 9am and there was a toothless guy drinking beer at the bar. A girl turned reggae music on and then took our order. She was gone for a really long time and then came back with our breakfast. We really didn't know what to think of the place until she brought our food out. Much to my surprise, the food was delicious. I mean, you can't really screw up breakfast food, but each item had a nice little something with it that made it the best breakfast we had all week. Overall, we enjoyed it and were glad we found it. Kind of an odd experience though :)

Great atmosphere, good drinks, and wonderful bar food. Try the grouper, very good. Perfect place to stop after a day at the beach or boat. Live music, weather permitting!

Hands down the best grouper sandwich on the island! It's fresh and juicy, not one of those thin frozen ones.

  • John M.

Normally a good local place for fun and drinks. We took some guest out for an anticipated "seafood dinner". For 24.95, the grouper portions were minuscule, a spoonful of rice and 5 pieces of asparagus. An embarrassing choice after an almost $200. bill. We were hungrier when we left, its a good place for drinks, but there are better places for dinner, especially where you don't feel ripped off.

Always has been one of our favorite places!!! We came by boat yesterday, and had a waitress with NO personality. Older, tiny gal with dark hair. Took her forever to take our order which was 2lbs. Of peel and eat shrimp., and a few drinks. We have had these about 4 times there in the last month, and they were always excellent. Yesterday they were soft, mushy, and at least 1/4 were slimey. We told our delightful waitress, who said she would inform the boss. We did see both the waitress and we presume boss taste one. Our bill was then brought to us with no comment...NOT even we are sorry it wasn't good, NOT thank you for coming, NOT come back again ....NOT a word from our waitress. So as we passed her when leaving, I said You're Welcome, and then she did say, yeah...thanks. This is the only time in years that we have been treated this way, and we will go back, chalking it up to shrimp that were bad, and a waitress that needs a job, not with people. BUT it would have been nice for them to acknowledge this or at least let us know if they agreed or disagreed. This waitress really needs to go to charm school, and learn a few appropriate ways of greeting and taking care of customers. Bad way to lose faithful customers!

One of our favorite local places. The grouper sandwich is great and priced right. Wonderful, casual atmosphere on the water. The staff is friendly.

What a horrible experience. We ended up walking out. We walked up and there was no hostess or employees to tell you whether you can just sit down or where you should etc. We ended up just picking a table and sitting down. A guy quickly gave us menus but then disappeared. Another couple came in and sat at the table next to us. A different guy came over and took their drink order. He came back and brought their drinks, then came back again and took their order. In all that time no one came to our table - no water, no drink order, nothing. Also during that time a herd of smokers gathered a few feet from our table and lit up. Since the tables were downwind we ended up surrounded by smoke. Thats when we just got up and walked out. Still not a word from any of the employees on our way out. They also have "live entertainment" in the way of a woman singing Crystal Gale songs ... not really sure what demographic she's aiming at, but it isn't me. We noticed on our way out that the kitchen is located on the next lot over so employees were carrying food a pretty long distance to the tables. I'm not sure how I feel about that given the sheer numbers of flying critters in Florida. We ended up at the Pelican place across the street.

Walked in and found a nice little table near the live music, good start. Looked around and saw plates of food that all look delicious, another positive sign. 5 minutes pass, no waiter. Ten minutes pass, no waiter, hum. Yes, they were busy but still had several empty tables, understaffed perhaps? Finally, a waiter ready for our drink order. I ordered a Corona Light with lime. Cousin asked what beers were on tap. The tap is broken tonight, only bottles or cans. Okay, what beers do you serve? Waiter flew through the list at lightning speed. Seemed he did not want to be bothered. She ordered her beer and we asked for waters as well. After 15 minutes our beers arrive but no water. We were ready to order but waiter literally blew past us as he placed the drinks on the table. 10 more minutes pass and he resurfaces to take the order. Meanwhile a couple seated next to us, after we were seated, are now enjoying their soup...Still no water for us. A food server attempts to place two meals in front of us but we realize this is too quick and tell him those aren't our meals. They belong to our soup swilling neighbors. Lucky them. The waiter has now vanished for the evening. The food eventually arrives and the saving grace is that both meals were delicious. Owner stopped by to see how our meals were. Told him food was good, service was sub par to which he replied, that was inexcusable. You are right Mr. Owner, that was inexcusable. Won't be back as there are too many good options within just a few miles.

Excellent food for a little marina bar, and good drinks. As long a you aren't expecting fine dining everything was great and good location right on the water.

  • Tim G.

Great tiki bar atmosphere and the owner is from the Boston area. On the menu, "wicked good clam chowda" and lobster rolls. By far my favorite place in the area... It's located just before the bridge going over to Marco Island.

Island Gypsy is a great place to chillax near the water. The wait staff is attentive, the manager is energetic and friendly, and the ambiance is salty-dog.

  • Filip D.

We stopped here while on a boat tip and this place is well worth for drinks and snacks. I would'd come here for dining, but the tiki covered boardwalk with view on the water, marina and mangroves is a nice setting for a stop. We had a tuna and a lobster salad and they were delicious.

  • Stefani H.

We drove down here from Naples actually going to Capri Fish House BUT they don't have full bar so we came here. The staff was very nice and the food and drinks were good. Would we come back, I don't think so , I observed too many employee practice violations!

  • Camilo F.

It had just poured rain and all the covered tables were taken, but our friendly waitress Melissa found us a dry spot with a water view. We had great service throughout and the chef even came out to check we were happy with the food. The food is approachable and tasty, with effort put into quality and presentation. We appreciated fried items were lightly battered and fluffy, like the onion rings and the grouper sandwich. To be honest, I found the Lobster Reuben slightly perplexing at first but it grew on me. The fries are very addictive. Very enjoyable outdoor dining experience even at "feels like" 98 degree weather!

  • Shannon H.

The best thing I ate in Naples this past week was the Blackened Grouper sandwich at the Island Gypsy... Unreal how good it was, extremely fresh, perfect seasoning... Could have had three, the fries were also very tasty... A cool place to grab an umbrella drink, listen to some good tunes and enjoy the ocean( as its right on the water). The fish tacos were damn good too, my wife really enjoyed them with two gypsy punches( alcoholic fruity drink) never seen her drink anything that quick... All in all a great little place to chill out and enjoy some good food! 10/10 we shall definitely be back.

  • Paul G.

Had lunch here today. Temperatures in the area were 85+. Went to the Island Gypsy as I knew it was waterfront.. The breeze was perfect for a cool lunch. We were seated right away.. Within a short period of time were had our drinks.. The food came out hot and fresh , I had the fried grouper sandwich ( real grouper) , it was done right. My wife had a fresh Waldorf salad.. Food is cooked in a separate building next door, it maybe a little slow coming out.. But who cares the marina and river breeze is worth the wait.. It is all outside, so it can remind you of the keys. Lunch for two will run $40 to $50 with tip and a drink.

One star for food, five stars for location and friendly service. Great for getting beer and enjoying this relaxing tiki bar on the marina. If you are starving, the fish sandwich was alright and the hot dogs were enormous and quiet tasty. Chips were store bought ( even though they have a Tortilleria around the corner in Naples) and salsa tasted a lot like Pace Picante (mild), for shame!

  • Jeanne M.

We had lunch here today and were please with the wonderful ambiance. It was tiki like, right on the water. We were there early and it was not crowded. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. By the time we finished the restaurant was quite busy. My husband had the clam chowder and said it was very good. We split the fried calamari which was some of the best I have tasted, fresh and tender with a nice dipping sauce. I would go back just for that! My husband had the shrimp po boy wrap which he liked but said it was too messy. I ordered the blackened grouper sandwich. You can get that fried or grilled as well. The grouper was nice but overall the sandwich was lacking some flavor. The meal came with coleslaw and fries. The fries were good and the slaw was fresh but again, could have used some more celery seed or pepper or something. All in all if I am ever here again I would return.

Very casual, relaxing cafe on the dock. Salads were very fresh . Conch fritters great, my orange crush cocktail was delish. Disappointed in the warm water oysters, not a good texture or flavor but we learned something! Service was great too.

If not for the Key West vibe, other reviews and seeing what could've been, I would've rated this restaurant with 2 stars. The ambiance consoled my inner critic -there are worse things than overly-relaxed service and dry nachos. Sipping a cocktail on the deck, taking in the sun and breeze won out, hoping to update my review with remarks of the food rivaling the atmosphere on my next visit. In the meantime, atmosphere gets 4-5 stars, food 2..... this trip. Other reviews give the grouper sandwich high stars so curiosity peaked.... probably for another trip asap. I don't know how you get nachos wrong, but the tortilla chips were thick and course, not very tasty....I'd even go for salty over bleh. Not sure about their choice of Béchamel sauce with crumbles of some kind of unknown cheese on top, maybe farmers and not much of it ?? Of course I needed to sample many menu items so pepperoni pizza, salad and a burger qualified the 2/3 stars. Our waitress, Amy, harmless enough I'm sure if she's a passenger, but she's a waitress and needed some skills. I know some of the wait staff knows what they're doing, like Chris (I think) who was fun to watch. I asked Amy about the T-shirts, she said they're out. Then I hear Chris enthusiastically describing their inventory ..... men's sizes, women's, colors, artwork. Really Amy!? Chris also told our neighboring table of specials..... Amy's apparently on the quiet side. I wanted to spend more money, more beers please, please. I'm getting ticked off just recalling it. But then Chris' willingness to please his customers next to us made me long to come back and try again.
