We stopped at this 5th Ave place for lunch a few weeks ago. It is in a great location on beautiful 5th Avenue, reminds me almost of a Parisian sidewalk café (though clearly Italian)....great outdoor bistro tables, awesome umbrellas etc. The interior, which we just sort of walked through reminded me of an ice cream shop...while nice and set up almost like a deli/grocery store, you definitely want to eat on the patio....great menu - soups, salads and sandwiches mostly....most of the sandwiches seemed to be baguette style...I had one with prosciutto, olive tapenade and cheese (mozz or provolone? Don't remember)....it was excellent! I don't remember if it came with chips or fries....chips I think, and they were homemade and also very good... Here's what kills me...So for something like 10 bucks (maybe 12) I can get an awesome sandwich on a real baguette - which if it wasn't baked on site, was baked within a few blocks of there that same day...I can get ingredients like prosciutto and olive tapenade etc and have a great setting....BUT prior to going there, I was happy paying the 8 to $10 at a sick like place like Jimmy Johns or whatever...the value of what I received at D&S - the quality of it - makes me feel as though the places I normally go to have been ripping me off for years....while I am wholly of the opinion that "chaining" any restaurant leads to a pronounced plunge in quality, I SOOOO wish there was one of these by me - I would eat lunch there every day!!!

Service slow, ordered the Caprese salad and it came dressed in a balsamic glaze (should serve it with balsamic and good olive oil, just like they would in Italy). Was asked how everything was by Owner/ Manager. When I very politely pointed out it was fine but would have preferred real oil and balsamic, on the side, his demeanour immediately changed and he was miserable about it, defensive, face like he was sucking a lemon. If you don't want any response to the question 'How was everything', don't ask!

Excellent! Visited this place for lunch & it was impressive! The service was more than impressive. Quick, pleasant & very friendly! The food was DELICIOUS! The 8 of us had a variety of bruchette, sandwiches & pasta all of which was delicious! The atmosphere is wonderful both indoors & outdoors. Only recommendation is to watch pricing. They told us 1 price at the table then charged another. Highly recommend!!!

Belissimo, fantastico, abondanza. The little piece of Italy is not to be missed. We both had the lasagna and it was magnifico. The deserts were sculpted with perfection and were too beautiful to eat.Once we did,we were happy we did. Excellant wine list to be ended with authentic cappuccino. Outdoor seating that was every bit Italian. This is by far,now out favorite Italian fare, without the jet lag.

Exactly as the other reviews and photos represent. Exactly what I was hoping for, for a light breakfast and cappuccino. Mi piace multo.

Being a restauranteur, I don't write bad reviews because I don't agree with all the write ups.. I love authentic Italian food and while visiting Naples Florida, we found Dolce & Salato... sort of like a deli and restaurant.. very nice.. The man who had a heavy Italian accent took our order.. I ordered a small sparkling water , lasagna and we asked for a small or half salad .. He kept saying are you sure a half, are you sure a half??as if he knew a small was very small to begin with.. We took his advice and ordered the large instead.. When the food arrived my mouth dropped open.. the large salad we ordered was so so small... now I wondered why he said are you sure you want a half.salad... also the lasagna was petit for the price!! OMG...the server never came back to ask how everything was..we got our check..wait it gets better.. we were charged for a Large sparkling water, a $17. sandwich which we never ordered, and charged for a large salad that we did order but they gave us a small salad.. Seems all the tourist here are getting ripped off for their bucks.. Food good but not for the price.. never go back.. never go back Marina K

What a great option for dinner (yes now open for dinner). The owner had a such great attention to detail. I highly recommend the specialty lasagna, but the everyday meals including the fish is tasty as well. Good wine selection as well.

Authentic except for the potato chips with the sandwiches ;). The place is definitely overpriced (prices have gone up from the prices listed on a picture someone posted) BUT the food is good and IT IS 5th avenue. Service is a little slow so definitely not a place to go if you are in a hurry for lunch. I had the prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich for $14.95. It was a large sandwich (I eat a lot and had to bag up one half) the mozzarella was fresh and the prosciutto was DiParma and they did not skimp on it - sandwich also came with a small salad which was very good. Overall, great authentic Italian lunch spot. I will definitely be back to try something else - the salads I saw looked good.

A hidden gem tucked away steps from 5th. The kind of service and food you'd expect from a family restaurant in Italy. Wonderful, fresh, authentic 'non formula' food. Warm personal service. Highly recommend!

Stopped in today for a late lunch. The restaurant was actually closed for the day (they close at 3:30pm and we probably arrived around 3:45pm, not realizing their hours). The door was locked, but the owner saw us outside and welcomed us in! I ordered a Farro salad and my husband ordered the lasagne. We were both impressed by the quality of the food and the friendly staff who had to accommodate our late order. We will definitely be back!

A bit of Italy just around the corner from Bice. Ago and Natasha will make you feel welcome at this authentic Italian cafe. Delicious salads, charcuterie, sandwiches and pasta. Come for breakfast, lunch or brunch but you will come here often not only for the delightful quiet terrace but also the outstanding home made pastries. This is real Italian food made by Italians who know how to cook... how many restaurants can say their mother came in from Italy and just cooked a great lasagna? I am a convert! They have a extensive selection of unusual wines by the glass at reasonable prices so it is a great place for a snack or a drink. There's Wi-Fi and the best espresso, cookies, cakes and macaroons (think La Durée in Paris- foodie heaven). Soon they will be opening for dinner but get on their list for their wine tastings as they are fun, boisterous and unpretentious -but come early as they usually sell out of the wines for sale...

I love this place, it reminds me of my wonderful travels to Italy. The owners are gracious and their food is amazing. The cheeses and other culinary delights that are for sale are so delicious ( try the black truffle cheese) & the wine is good too. I was so happy to find this place and will be back often, Ciao!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
