Sad to say, but this place came off as a total tourist trap. Most of the reviews on here are only a few sentences, so I hope to expand with a bit more detail to explain my review. I hope this helps. Vacationing in florida for the week, taking a drive down to the beach, was in the mood for something Spanishy for lunch. A foursqaure scan of the area and we found Bella Maria on the 5th ave strip. Not to many good reviews on the foursqaure, but decided it was worth a try....i guess that's why they say hindsight is always 20/20. Checked out Yelp real fast and saw they had good sangria. Oh yeah I thought! The beef empanadas were good, pretty tasty and contained the old classic, hard boiled egg in the middle. Before ordering I was excited when I saw they had three different kinds of empanadas and an order came with three. We were going to get one of each (beef, chicken, and cheese) so we could try them all. Sadly the server advised us that you only had the option of one type. Bummer. ::RED FLAG ALERT:: The sangria might sound great, but it was awful. Firstly the server described a small and large pitcher to choose from. We went with the large red sangria. What we got tasted like the ingredients of the smaller pitcher filled with additional soda water, so to make up for the size of the larger pitcher. Such a let down. The color looked like red wine sangria, sadly the taste was flavorless and watery. We left feeling bloated and with half a pitcher unfinished. Also the sangria prices weren't on the menu, so to find out it was $32 was even more of a burn. Felt like a tourist after we ate here. As we paid the check a couple that the server was friends with sat down behind us. The server asked if they wanted sangria, and noted that he would give them a really good deal. Boy did that make me angry to overhear. I guess they know who's a local and who's going to be gone tomorrow. Not an ideal dinning experience for out of towners. ::RECOMMENDATION::: Try one of the many other lunch spots down 5th avenue. Also don't be afraid to ask a local business owner where their favorite spot is. We did alot of window shopping around 5th ave and everyone else we spoke to was really so nice. We got some great advise, after this mishap, from the chef of Bistro 182 (Jesse Housman) while we were booking a reservation. Great guy with good advise. Def try Bistro 182 by the way, that place rocks.

(and that's one more than they deserve) We were sucked in by the outdoor seating, but the service is deplorable. When my girlfriend pointed out we'd been waiting a half hour for four salads and one (pre-made) quiche, the server copped an attitude and condescendingly told her "Well, this isn't a fast food place". We should have cut our losses and left, but my girlfriend's grandma was hungry and not the easiest to relocate. Instead, we waited another five minutes for a salad that was average at best. Sadly, I'm sure the place will continue to thrive on curious tourists like us, but I hope some folks do their research and avoid this dump.

What a treasure! Excellent food, great wine, and friendly service! Franco was wonderful. We tried about 6 of the tapas, all were fantastic..I'm still dreaming about the artichokes and the Rioja. :-)

This is a charming family-owned restaurant with solid Spanish style cuisine. The atmosphere is far less commercial than many places in Naples. The food--seafood mind you--tasted fresh. We were here in June which is considered off-season so there was very little activity. The service was extremely friendly and personal.

We were a large group, and everything we ordered was fresh, delicious, and authentic... We are a fussy bunch and everyone was happy. Highly recommended family restaurant. Owners are from Spain.

In some ways, this is a typical tourist trap place on 5th Ave. It has outdoor seating, which can be nice, but the service is slow and the food is nothing extraordinary. They have a varied menu, including tapas, sandwiches and all sorts of other stuff, so everyone should be able to find something they should like. Also, my sandwich was tasty, so I don't really have any major complaints.

Warning to those who dine here. I see there aren't many reviews on this place and I want people to know the food and service here is horrible. Also the menu is misleading aswell. A small group of us ate here on labor day weekend and all of us were sadly disapointed. Let me start off with a pricy menu in a tourist trap location. We all ordered different dishes and found the portions to be tiny. Defintately don't order a churrasco because you will be shocked to find out it is not a skirt steak yet a tiny piece of fatty meat at the price of a skirt steak(advertised as churrasco). To top off the problems with the order the waiter decided to argue with several guests about mistakes as well as going as far as telling guests not to assume they are a Cuban establishment but to remember they are Argentinean and do things different. After hearing this comment all of replied saying no one at the table was from any Cuban background however we have always know a churrasco to be a skirt steak. The comment was totally uncalled for regardless of anyones heritage. After the waiter argued with us he finally brought a bill with the bill saying we got longo steak. After question the waiter yet again he stated longo steak is the same as churrasco in central American and we should not assume things because churrasco is simply a piece of meat. So we googled it in fromt of him. He disnt like what he was reading so he started arguing again bringing the chef into the argument and at this point we knew it was worthless to continue anything with this reaturant because obviously the customer is always wrong. Anyway to those going to Naples please stay away from this place because obviously they don't appreciate business in this already tough economy. I have written reviews elsewhere too and still have not been contacted by an owner. Stay far away!

First let me clarify that this is NOT a MEXICAN restaurant. It is a Spanish restaurant that serves Tapas. The atmosphere is Spanish and so is the music. I think that some of the reviews o Yelp are from people that dont know exactly where they were eating at. What I have found out is that several people seem to think that this is some Mexican restuarant down the street... not so. The prices are very fair for Naples. I would say the average lunch would be in the $9.00 range. They had a nice cuban sandwich for $7.95 and many tapas for $6-10.00. I was told that the tapas portions are large, but since I did not have any I cant verify that. I had the Stuffed avocado salad for $9.95. It is really 1/2 an avocado topped with your choice of chicken salad or tuna salad. I had the chicken salad and it was fantastic. The chicken salad portion was a large scoop and the salad portion was fine as well. They served it with hot rolls. I tried thier house balsamic vinigerette and was very pleased. The service was great and our waiter was friendly. We were well taken care of. This is a family run place. I had thier home made white sangria and I really enjoyed it. The glass was large and had apples and organges for the fruit. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We did not try thier desserts but they looked very good. Right next door is a Custard Ice Cream shop and well lets say I wandered over that way for desert.

Being a local I really wanted to like this place, Naples needs more tapas restaurants, less Italian!! The staff is rude and unwelcoming, I'm not the first person to notice this on Yelp. How can they manage to stay in business when they treat guests like they are annoying them? My friend and I went in for lunch, no smiles or how are you? Just a menu dropped on the table, it was uncomfortable. We each had a glass of wine and different pieces of quiche. Both pieces tasted like the inside of a refrigerator, the crust was soggy and the bacon pieces in mine were burned. We both stopped after two bites and finished the salad the accompanies the dish. Not once did our server asked if we enjoyed our meal, he simply dropped the check after he cleared our uneaten food. Worst experience I have had in Naples.

Salmon was inedible. The chilean traditional meal was ok, but way too small for $18. Didnt even come with any rice or anything.

Great little place! Sangria was delicious! We stopped for sangria and had a great time sitting in front of the restaurant sipping sangria and chatting. I would recommend this place! I heard the tapas were excellent as well - check out this place!

We walked past this restaurant several times and were intrigued by the menu item, "Lagostino Salad". We failed to check it on Yelp. The food was mediocre at best and a great disappointment. The service was poor and the waitstaff did not even seem to interact with each other. It was a most uncomfortable and unsatisfactory experience. We have learned to consult Yelp before impulsively trying a new restaurant.

Went there two years ago to have some nice cold sangrias. We also ordered a seafood ceviche which was very fresh and quite tasty. My last visit to this restaurant two weeks ago was disastrous. We wanted outdoor seating and I had to go inside to find 4 waiters/staff watching TV. One waiter came over and I asked him if we could order some sangrias and ceviche. He said "Yes yes yes. The seafood salad takes the place of the ceviche". Out comes the seafood - cold shrimp, mussels, scallops, calamari piled high on iceberg lettuce. One bite of calamari had the taste of bad fishy seafood. Another bite of scallop had the same old fishy taste. The waiter comes over and I tell him I am not happy. I cannot eat this....plus I wanted ceviche. He says, "We cannot waste food. We will make you a ceviche". I say, "You cannot use this seafood to make a ceviche". (Plus ceviche is supposed to be marinated, not made to order). He takes the dish away and says he will be right back. He comes back with over-salted chopped bits of the previous salad with red onion and lemon juice on top. I take one bite. NO way are we eating this. Then the "manager" comes out and insists that we ate 1/2 of the original salad and says we have to pay for the ceviche. The audacity of this guy. The furthest cry of even an ounce of restaurant sophistication. I dropped the cash on the table and left. I hope the $30 I paid outweighs this review. Stay away from "not-so" Bella Maria's!

We stumbled on this restaurant for lunch, famished from a morning at the Naples Zoo. Wonderful selection of tapas! Many vegetarian selections! I think I could eat there regularly and not bore my palate. We had mushrooms in garlic and oil, octopus in vinegar, eggplant lasagna, barros lucos, caprese salad and cheese empanaditas. We were not looking for sangria... All the food was fresh, with the octopus especially tender and flavorful and appropriately seasoned with vinegar. The red sauce on the eggplant, which was cooked exquisitely, was delicious and not overly acidic as tomato sauces can be. The beef on the barros lucos was juicy and flavorful. Don't go expecting tacos. Don't go with an axe to grind about sangria. Do go if you want fresh food served by pleasant people on a patio that allows you great people watching.

I have been eating at Bella Maria for years. The staff treats me like family. I always so feel so welcomed and at home when I come in. I cannot stop in without ordering their sangria (large craft please!!) it compliments they best ceviche in town. My mom and I are such ceviche snobs and I am telling you theirs is the BEST. There is really nothing they do wrong other favorites include the paella, empanadas, chorizo, and octopus. Everything is homemade and fresh. They also have the most amazing homemade tarts. Bella Maria deserves all five stars. I have had nothing but exceptional food and service from Franco and Carlos. I would highly recommend to all.

Good restaurant. The terrace is nice with a sunny weather. The waiter is not stressful and you can take your time to eat and enjoy the sun. The food was fresh, the cheese/ham plate was good with a generous glass of wine and hot bread. The service is a little bit long but not painful as the waiter is usually checking if you need anything. Overall, I was satisfied and enjoyed it.

All the restaurants were busy on 5th avenue, so we decided to check out this place. We were a little weary after reading some of the reviews, but decided it was worth a try considering the wait times everywhere else. We were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and the food was amazing. We had the white sangria, seafood ceviche, and beef empanadas. For a main course our server recommend an off the menu item. It was a seasfood dish with shrimp, mussels, clams, a spicy sauce and rice on the side. We absolutely loved it. I would definitely recommend this place.

Beautiful weather expecting to have a beautiful late lunch. Not to be had! Service was lousy. My lady asked what does he suggest. ... like she does everywhere we go..."depends what you like, its up to you what you like! She asks again what would he suggest. ... same lame response. Empenadas were tasty but after his attitude no desire to taste anything else at this place that advertise Spanish but it had mostly Italian options :( he knew he turned us off when we asked for the check, he tried to be nice but it was too late!

Miserable owners and staff, rude to the nth degree, completely disinterested in service. Don't know about the food, we left, being sneered at makes me lose my appetite. They really don't deserve one star, but zero isn't an option.

Bella Maria is a smaller gem of a restaurant right on Fifth Avenue, next to the old custard shop. The restaurant is nicely apportioned and clean inside, with an open kitchen and artwork spread throughout. What makes this place special is that it serves authentic Spanish cuisine and tapas that's freshly prepared on the spot. This isn't the usual fusion based cooking that you'll find here in Naples. My personal favorites are the empanadas de bacalao, which are filled with egg, cod, onions and peppers. Another tapas dish that is very typical is a plate of manchego cheese, serrano ham and thinly cut sausage. The paella dishes are well done, as are the other meat dishes. They have a nice selection of Spanish wines. You can definitely get Spanish cuisine at other spots in Naples, but this is the best in the area.

Very bad experience here with a very rude manager/owner...... I have to give one star to post, but this man doesn't deserve even one star. He needs to learn how to treat people if he wants them to frequent his establishment and come back....... Will not recommend to my many friends in Naples!

Portion size was very reasonable for the price. Will most definitely come back in the near future. Haven't been to any place like this and honestly wish I can take it all with me.

Very nice small 5th ave cafe. Its hard to find real Spanish tapas in SWFL, this is about the closest I have found. Everything my wife and I tried was very good and authentic. We will definitely be back when we can make it all the way to Miami for tapas.

We kind of stumbled into this place and we were glad we did. Excellent food and great service. Try the empanadas! The sangria was great and so were the meals we had as the main course. The soup tasted home made. We don't live in the area and this has been our best experience food wise since we arrived. May have to come back to Naples just to eat here!

  • Chris L.

Excellent food and service. This place was honestly one of the best and authentic Spanish restaurants I have ever been too. And I mean Spanish, not Mexican. The white sangria was so refreshing on a hot summer day. Will most definitely be back and I do recommend you do not overlook this place when you come to Naples.

We were very sad by the experience we had here. We ordered the cheese empanadas, and I think they are filled with American cheese. I liked it, but my Colombian husband was insulted. They did taste frozen, but I'm not sure how "from scratch" they are. I had the meat and cheese platter with manchego cheese and ham- and it was very good, 17 bucks though, I could have purchased a whole block of cheese for the cost. My husband got some sort of deal with an appetizer, entrée and dessert for 18 dollars. The caesar salad was gross, the beef roast was mediocre, and the dessert was standardized, and it wasn't very palatable any how. Waste of money. Go to Tulia Osteria. I spent the same amount of money there, and I was delighted at Tulia.

Greeted by a rude waiter while my wife was washing her hands. He seemed annoyed that I did not order alcohol or bottled water. When my wife did sit down, taking our order seemed a bother to him. This is a tapas restaurant - thus, Spanish. So we ordered three tapas and a Nicoise salad (French) with salmon. I asked about bread and olive oil. The waiter replied the olive oil is for the salad only. He did not offer that he could bring some out. That seemed strange to me as Spain is an important producer of olive oil. So the bread that did arrive were like brown and serve rolls you buy in the grocery store. Really!!! The albondigas (meatballs) were tasteless and two of the five were still cold on the inside. The scallops were small but not overdone which is a blessing. The ham croquettes were bland. The salad arrived - very crisp lettuce and vegetables. Unfortunately they must have baked or sauteed the salmon and it was far too fishy and salty - my wife and I barely touched it. I am not sure how long they have been in business or if their competition is any better. I cannot recommend this place.

Stopped by during the Ferrari Club Owners show a few months ago for dessert. The decor in the place was really incredible, and the dish I had was excellent. The server even made us laugh a bit, knowing we were tourists. I'd love to come back here for a main course, and will add it to my list the next time I visit Naples.

Went here with a group of friends for dessert. I ended up getting the Canoli and it was really good. The waiter informed me they were freshly made that day. This was a nice little cafe type place with nice decor that I liked. They had a lot of hot peppers drying from the ceiling and the waiter was very friendly. I will be visiting Naples more often so I will make sure to stop back in this place again so I can give it a more thorough review. If you're in the mood for coffee and dessert I would recommend it.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
