Of course you have a spectacular front row seat to view the sunset at the right time of day. Food was good and meets expectations of you do not expect the best culinary experience. Service was good and had a wonderful time all in all.

Great outdoor dining with an awesome beach view. Best dish was the lobster mac and cheese.

This is a solid 3.5. The entire Property is very nicely designed from the moment you walk in. Ambiance here is a 5 of 5. Service is great, everyone moving in sync and they know the menu very well. The issue here is price. Everything here costs literally 33% more than it should. Appetizers, entres, wine, coffee, everything. I left a two person $200 meal hungry and thinking food was average. shouldn't happen. Again, only redeeming qualities are service and ambiance

Terrible service Obviously overrated Lots of staff all walking back and forth Food very late for us and table next to us Suggestion....focus on what you do and why people are here And, attitude

Bottomless mimosa brunch on Sundays with Prix fixe menu. The food is just alright. (Gourmet options, that unfortunately aren't that tastey and aren't accommodating to vegetarian and GF options) However, for $34 and endless bubbles with an ocean view, I still think it's a great option!

I just got back from a wonderful Naples trip for a girlfriends birthday and couldn't wait to review Baleen when I got home! It's located in a cute hotel that had a southern feel to it. Immaculate on the inside great set up on the outside seating area. I wish I would have made our reservation for a bit earlier in the evening to be able to catch sunset on the ocean. We had a 9:30 rez so it was pretty dark but the ambiance was still very nice. There's fire pits set up below the outdoor dining porch which we got a chance to enjoy after dinner. To start we ordered the U12 pink gulf shrimp, spicy tuna tartare and some oysters. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The tuna tartare was my favorite. For our main courses my friends and I got the rack of lamb special, broiled lobster risotto and the black grouper (simply) with a side of sauteed spinach. AMAZING. Plates were totally cleaned totally forgot to take pics of everything especially since our food didnt make it on the plate very long. Our server was really attentive and helpful with the menu. My only complaints would be that our entrees came not too long after our apps were done let alone cleared. Im not sure if its because it was nearing the end of the evening but for a Friday night it felt a bit rushed. Other than that everything was wonderful. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Everything here was truly wonderful. The view is perfect. The service is great, and the food is amazing. I expect it to be the food I see on the food network. We ordered from the prix fix menu. Such a great deal w app, entree, and dessert. This is one of those places that I will now always have to go. If u r looking for a dinner w your feet in the sand, beach views everywhere, and phenomenal food, this place is it. It is worth the price on the menu. U will not be disappointed.

This picturesque landscape is an oasis of top notch food, delectable spirits, and world class customer service. There has not been a single time I have not felt like the only guest in the whole restaurant even when they are completely full and busy. The management and staff's ability to organize unique and tailored experiences for all occasions is second to none on southwest Florida's Gulf Coast. Whether it be happy hour and a sunset, dinner with loved ones, or a night cap around the fire pit I find Baleen at LaPlaya Beach and Golf Resort to be the best in class. Managers Joey and Chris are attentive and kind, servers Patty and Raul are the best in town, and the bartender Luigi is knowledgable and prompt. I only wish I could give this place a 6th STAR because they sure do deserve it.

Yes, the prices are steep, but this continues to be one of my very favorite places in Naples. Why? The amosphere, the decor, the amazing drinks, the seating, the clean/crisp/friendly staff and of course... The spectacular view. Also, if you are not staying there, free valet. Today, our cocktail server Kayla was great. I admit I have been here more often for just cocktails, but I have also had a few meals- and I cannot remember a bad one. No food today, but the truffle fries that "walked by", smelled amazing. I remember enjoying the fish tacos. Once a year.. This place is an absolute must for me when visiting Naples.

The food was amazing! Service was great minus not being able to understand him beth well. Drinks were strong and the sunset was breath taking! We will keep returning.

Best ocean view in Naples. Great high end atmosphere! Ordered lobster risotto and yellowtail chef special. Both were very good, also had lobster bisque. Was good but not that rich. Service was good, although server took bill from table before we left which really annoys me!

Excellent & attentive service from valet, hostess, and waiters. Great menu selection and gorgeous location overlooking the beach. I've been here a few times already and I'm never disappointed- the sunsets are pretty amazing too.

Elegant, Tropical, Upscale and Laid Back - my FAVORITE spot in Naples for Brunch/Breakfast! I have been traveling to Naples for vacation during the winters for the past 10+ years and Baleen has become a breakfast and cocktail hour/ sunset tradition. I always start my first morning of vacation with breakfast at Baleen. Atmosphere: Although the breakfast food is excellent, the atmosphere is the best part. Baleen is located in an upscale, elegant boutique hotel (La Playa) and therefore the atmosphere is upscale. However, because it is located right on the beach, it is casual and laid back. I recommend sitting outside. If it is on the cooler side they will have heaters on or turn them on for you if you ask. The outdoor seating is yards away from the beach, with a clear view of the ocean and palm trees. Most breakfasts have involved watching the dolphins swim and play. It doesn't get much better than that. Unless of course you go for cocktails at sunset - then you get a clear view of the sun setting on the water with the dolphins swimming by. Food: The breakfast food is excellent. My grandfather loves the French toast and waffles. My husband LOVES their hash (he claims it is one of the best breakfasts he has ever had). I try to stay on the healthier side - I love their egg white omelettes, steel cut oatmeal, and granola. Also, they always have delicious fresh fruit and the best lattes! Their lattes come with rock candy instead of sugar - a very sweet touch. For cocktail hour - their fried calamari is good, their cocktails are fine, but the best part is the atmosphere and sunset! Service: The service is top notch. They are always extremely accommodating. For example, at one point I was on a dairy free diet - and they coordinated with the hotel room service to get soy milk for my coffee. Parking: The hotel has valet parking when you arrive. I believe there is a small cost to valet parking; however I am not sure of the exact amount. Cost: pricey (breakfast can be $20-$30 per person) but worth it due to the fantastic food, great service and beyond perfect atmosphere. Overall I would highly recommend this place and I look forward to going each time I visit Naples.

Just finished dinner here. My waiter was lovely. My dinner was good. However, we were seated in "the yard". While originally we thought this would be a great table for a sunset view...it quickly turned into a playground. Approximately ten (or more) children ran, screamed, did cartwheels, kicked a soccer ball at us, etc. Ok, I get it , you're a hotel, it's a family place, etc. However, we voiced our opinion to the waiter, who told the manager to come to our table. He never did. I spoke to Joey, the manager, he told me that "he would be upset if that was his table too". Again, did nothing. My opinion: management is terrible and request seating not in the yard.

Another of my favorites in Naples. For starters, the atmosphere is out of this world. Beautiful decor, you have a great view of the Gulf, and you can sit inside or outside. We once had the good fortune of eating here while the sun was setting. It was magnificent! The food and the service are always top notch, so you ask, "why only four stars?" Well, I've lived in Naples almost twelve years and watched their prices go up faster than any other restaurant that I frequent. It's a great place for special occasions.

Taco chicken salad has stale taco shells. Service is slow and sandwiches are Overpriced for mediocre sandwiches...but, enjoy the fab view!

Lunch at Baleen is an experience not to be missed. Not only is everything you order going to be amazing but the view and the service is unforgettable. What you order may sound simple on the menu but their recipes outshine anything you've had before! Seating is steps from the beach!

Just freaking beautiful. In the La Playa resort on the beach. Food and service was excellent and the view spectacular. Some tips: The sun sets right there over the Gulf in front of you, get a seat early for it. They have a romantic dinner on the beach, tables set in the sand and the Gulf lapping near your feet. Very limited capacity for this so reservations well ahead of time are a must. If you eat or drink here the hostess will validate your parking which saves you $8.00. A must see place along with the Ritz Carlton while in Naples.

Wow. What a beautiful porch with a gorgeous view. If you are on a budget then this might not be the place for you. A little on the pricier side. Naples + gorgeous oceanfront dining = higher prices. Well worth it I think. I would definitely go here again, but this time for lunch. My entree was pretty good, but not excellent. We had a nice table alongside the railing on the porch. As soon as the sun starts setting, the cameras start clicking. If you are looking for a gorgeous sunset, great service, good food, price isn't an issue.. Then go to Baleen. Great for a romantic dinner. Book well in advance. Popular place for sunsets.

A SPECIAL PLACE We've been here a few times and have always had a good experience. We recently came on a Sunday in February (high season, you know) and the place was quite busy. I had the Lobster Cobb Salad and it was excellent with quite a few chunks of lobster. My wife had the Short Ribs Tacos and loved them, while the others each had the Crispy Grouper Sandwich and were very happy with their meals. Quite a nice restaurant for a special meal. Any negatives? Well, they have removed their outstanding Lobster Roll from the menu and replaced it with a dumbed-down Seafood Roll; bad idea. Also the service was painfully slow. But we still like the place a lot.

Food very good. But no utensils to serve the appetizers platters my table of 15 shared. Not sanitary. No one knew what to do and it was awkward. When my salad came I had no utensils and no server in sight. My grouper entree was dried out. My husbands red snapper was delicious. Great view of sunset. Creme brûlée delicious.

Here goes 5 star for Kayla, a great server at Baleen! I have being to that place a few times. The inside is OK, but outside is magnificent. The view is amazing. The heating lamps are everywhere. The sunset is always perfect. The wine selection is up to my standard! i am accustomed to fine dining and have being straggling in Naples for some times to meet the quality of Beverly Hills. Ballen would be the closest I could fine so far. The sea food big platter is amazing! Back to Kayla. It as a very busy night, but she was great and always there when we needed. There was no excuse that it was a busy season! After all it is all about the service. We will be back!

Very good food and beachfront dining. Crab legs are very good. Service is kind of slow and definitely would not suggest for small kids as they are welcomed by the restaurant but not so sure by other patrons.

Great atmosphere and food. The ceviche is awesome and the snapper they specialize in is so delicious, the best piece of fish I have every had. Service is impeccable. Everything down to the bread basket is good!

Pretty good food, but small portions and pricy! I tried the Lobster salad ($26), the Lobster risotto ($44), the latte, the creme brûlée and the hot tea. The salad looked nice and fresh, the blue cheese was a bit too much and overpowered the taste of lobster. The risotto had truffle mushrooms in it and again, it was too strong, but delicious. The latte was my favorite thing! Loved the rock sugar on the side. The hot tea was served with the pot of hot water, just the way I like it, and some honey, lemon and cream, although I think it was actually milk, not half and half. All of this I ordered as part of the room service delivered right into my room! The 20% gratuity was already included.

Very good food, excellent service and delightful cocktails with the best sunset view in Naples. You can have all of the above, but you're going to pay a hefty sum! Too pricey to eat there regularly, if you're on any type of reasonable budget.

Continually impressed with this restaurant. My favorite restaurant in Naples by leaps and bounds. The atmosphere, the food, and the service is top tier and unmatched in the area. Don't want to have a large sit down dinner? Grab a drink and some food off the bar menu, sit outside and enjoy. I promise the experience is equally as great. Love Baleen for a fancy night out or a casual and relaxed night. Can't say enough positive things about this restaurant. 10 out of 10!

We were here on the 4th of July, as guests of the La Playa Resort. Upon entering we were so put off by the snobby hostesses that forget they work here . The wait staff however works very hard. However, my low rating was for our dinner. A restaurant of this caliber should serve impeccable dishes with amazing ingredients and out of this world flavor combinations. That taste amazing, not just sound delicious on the menu. I ordered the pre-fixe dinner, which should offer great representation of what the restaurant has to offer. Unfortunately it was one course after another of disappointing, bland, dishes and atrocious flavor combinations. At the end, a dessert can be the saving grace of a disappointing dinner. However, my kids were gagging on theirs.

I have to start out by saying we scheduled dinner on the beach because it was our anniversary and wanted something special. It's great because they allow only one couple to do this per night so it's like your own little private dinner. We had the best sunset that night and the view was impeccable! Our server Adley (sp?) was awesome and was happy to be our photographer when we wanted pics. Food- amazing. My grouper was perfectly prepared, lobster bisque was delish, and dessert was heavenly. My husband ordered the steak which he enjoyed as well. Pricey yes, but well worth it!

One of the best meals of my life. Had a lovely sunset dinner by the beach with my wife on our anniversary. The staff went out of their way to make it extra special for us. Our waiter Glenn was helpful with selecting dishes and provided excellent service. Close your eyes and point at the menu. You can't go wrong here, if you can afford it. We will save it for special occasions.

There is no better place for sunset before dinner than at a table out front on the sand at Baleen's. I go there every week. HOWEVER, this week my evening was ruined as someone was smoking a cigar and I could do nothing but sneeze. I can't believer they allow smoking. You pay a fortune to be there and you have to put up with that? Really!

  • Pamela L.

Tucked inside La Playa resort - this is the place to be to enjoy sunset over dinner. You can even take a stroll down the beach after. I came here for lunch, though without the sunset, it was still great to dine oceanside with a spectacular view on a warm sunny day. Food was good, service was attentive. Place was quiet when we arrived at noon but seats started filling up quickly after. I would recommend this for a romantic meal.

  • Nick C.

Genre for rating: upscale Baleen is the place you go to when you have to have that special night out and/or show out of town guests what a special place Naples is to live and dine. With seating overlooking the beach, Baleen at the La Playa provides one of the very few worthwhile dining options in Naples on the water. The service is always on point, the specials are unique, and the menu options always diverse. A bit pricey, but the waterfront premium is worth the cost more times than not. The food alone, however, is usually not worth the price tag in it of itself. Food: **** Service: **** Atmosphere: *****

Restaurant is beautiful...Best rack of lamb I have ever had. It was so good we placed another order after we finished eating it even though it was about $50 a plate. The portions are small, which is the reason we had to order another one, well it was really THAT GOOD. I also had the scallops which was what I ordered. They were buttery , seasoned perfectly...delicious. The cilantro polenta was also very good. The lobster mac and cheese had generous chunks of lobster in it; really appreciated that. For desert we had the Baked Alaska, which in my opinion is a very fun desert to eat . This restaurant has a great view of the beach, it is a very romantic place. low lighting, great service, great food. Great ambiance. We were staying at la Playa which is a very romantic and relaxing hotel. Watched the sunset everyday......can't wait to go back!

Not sure why this is classified as "Asian fusion", because from what I remember, the best dishes included: 1. One huge portion of Tomato Buratta 2. A chopped Cobb salad 3. Fish for two, wrapped in a banana leaf, with asparagus and risotto The risotto was the kind of dish my family would get into a fight about who gets the last bite, and the fish was enough to feed all three of us, so keep that in mind when ordering. We had a res for 7pm, specifically asking to sit outside, but I would recommend if you'd like to see the sunset from the back porch (this is an old north Naples establishment, so one of the few RIGHT on the beach) that you make your reservation for quite a bit earlier than sunset.. We missed the sunset, and got seated at around 7:45 due to people taking their sweet time eating dessert.

A good restaurant. Nothing special here but the sunset. Food not great. Prices are high for the quality. Recommend you come for a drink and the sunset. Having dined here twice I am sure you will want to have dinner else where. Enjoy the sunset!

Great ambiance and a sunset view that can't be beat! Food was good but not great. Short rib and potato fritters were delicious as was the tomato burrata which was fresh, creamy and delicious. My wife had the diver scallops with cilantro polenta and I opted for the lobster risotto. The scallops were fresh and seared perfectly and the fresh taste of the cilantro polenta really completed the dish. There was plenty of lobster served atop a creamy, well cooked risotto but the dish lacked an identity. There just wasn't enough flavor to provide me with a long lasting memory. Good thing they had a great wine-by-the-glass selection for us to focus on. The service was very good. I would give Baleen one more shot the next time I travel to Naples.

We went here for the Christmas buffet. The view at sunset was amazing. The buffet for $95 dollars a person was Hugh disappointment. The best part was the turkey and mashed potatoes. The dessert table was good but had to wait to have it replenished. They charged $20 a plate for kids and didn't offer anything for the kids to eat. However the service was impeccable. I wouldn't going here for a buffet again. As a last note the wine list is extremely overpriced even for hotel standards.

Very nice setting with excellent food and good service. Everything from the monkey bread, to the appetizers to the entrée was well prepared. Suggest getting a table under the roof outside to avoid the sweltering heat, but the grounds rival the setting at Turtle Club with the food almost as good.

Just went here this past weekend while vacationing in Naples. One of my besties from Miami came up and we had a lovely dinner. We both enjoyed our lobster bisque and the assortment of bread that they bring to your table. I loved my lobster tails and she loved her fish (yellow tail I believe). We also shared some truffle fries and lobster mac and cheese. The food and service was divine. I took one star off because there were too many flies/mosquitoes biting us and lurking around our food as we dined outside. I wish there set up some citronella candles to lessen the amount of insects as we enjoyed our food. Maybe next time, I'll just eat inside :)

At Baleen the atmosphere and experience is top notch. You can't beat the view, especially in the morning and at sunset. The breakfast is delicious and I think the "vanilla scented waffles" are to die for. So delicious and I have been here for dinner and the food is great. The wait staff is also very accommodating. It's such a beautiful place and a MUST if you're in town.

We absolutely love Baleen and have never had a bad meal here. The service is great, food is delicious and the beach sunsets are priceless! Make your reservations around the time of sunset because it will make your meal even more memorable. Also make sure you head to the fire pit for an after dinner drink! This place has it all! I just wish they would bring back the monkey bread!!

Let me start this review by saying that this place is beautiful and elegant. The decor is lovely, and being able to dine on good food while watching the sunset is a way of life I could get very much used to. That being said, I overall feel that the food, while good (very good even), is marked by inconsistencies that keep it from being great. To be sure, some of what I had was fantastic; other parts, however, were only average at best. In addition, everything was a bit overpriced for what we ate. I know that the price will be naturally inflated because of, and half of the experience is, the location and the view. On the other hand, however, location and views will never truly make up for what is only good -- not great -- food. To start the evening, we each had drinks and cocktails as the sun set. It was quite the view. They offer a very nice selection of cocktails, and even (nicely) let you know the specific brand of liquor it is made with. I can't remember what I ordered, aside from it being some form of cranberry / tequila mixture that was quite lovely. After being seated, we ordered our dinner. I started with the lobster bisque. This was really, really good. In the end, I didn't have a single complaint about it. The only other started I tried was my wife's, who ordered the mussels. She liked them, but I did not. I understand that mussels can be 'fishy', but these were much more so than I've had elsewhere. In the end, I was not all that impressed by them. However, as I said, my wife did enjoy them, and she's the one who likes mussels. For my main course, I ordered the scallops and risotto. These were a bit tragic. They were grilled, and they felt like they had been grilled over exceedingly high heat, without any amount of oil. Rather than grill marks, they had char marks. And quite honestly, the char flavor was all I could taste. My wife ordered from the 'build your own entree' part of the menu. She also ordered the scallops, plus a lobster sauce, and the lobster mac n' cheese. The lobster mac n' cheese was out-of-this-world good -- easily the best thing of the evening. The scallops were also good, but they most definitely brought out the wrong sauce -- it was the same sauce that came with my grandmother's steak. All in all, this is a place that serves (generally) good food. Some of it was fantastic; other parts of it were a bit disappointing, especially given the prices you pay to eat here. Still an enjoyable evening overall, but I wouldn't necessarily be clamoring for a return visit.

Just a fantastic experience. Dont come expecting a high-speed NYC style dinner. This a very relaxed pleasant atmosphere. I took my wife for a seafood by the ocean dinner. We waited 30 mins in the Bar to get a table on the edge of the Veranda. You could hear the waves. It was rather late but the wait staff was very friendly and worked to make us comfortable. My wife is in a wheelchair and they went out of their way to make sure she was enjoying the entire experience. The bar had a great selection of wines and the bartender sent several glasses of a wine that he chose to compliment dinner at our request. I had the Surf and Surf and have never tasted Tuna Steak done that well. The compacted watermelon was a huge surprise. She had twin Lobster tails from the Grill and they were absolute perfection. For desert the brought us key lime pie with sorbet. They let us sit out on the Veranda for a long time and soak in the surroundings. Absolutely one of the top 10 dining experiences I have every had.

We dined there on a very rainy Friday night. We attempted to dine on their outside terrace to take in the view, but the wind and rain made dinning outside less than memorable. We opted for the inside dinning area instead. I had the black grouper which was outstanding. The portions were generous. My wife had the lobster cobb salad which she also enjoyed. We hope to dine at Baleen again when the weather is nicer so we can enjoy the remarkable view along with our meal.

Disappointing is the first word that comes to mind. We had a 7:45 reservation but were told they do not promise outside seating. We arrived at 7:30 to try to get an outside table but they said it could take 45 min. The husbands didn't want to wait so we ate inside. Asked for a table near window to catch sunset. Being rather overcast we saw nothing. We were seated next to a large group of such loud diners that we could not hear the waitress. The service was decent but the s mixed drinks were loaded with ice. The food was nothing special. Given the high prices we expected so much more. We would not recommend.

Lovely, elegant setting, outstanding service, but a not-as-impressive-as-I'd-hoped menu and a pretty aggressive price point for the food and borderline obscene pricing for the very impressive wine list left me wanting more. Our experience may have been colored by the weather (inexplicably cold and windy for this time of year), but we walked away thinking we could think of dozens of places where the food was as good or better and nowhere nearly as pricey. That said, a beautiful scene and truly outstanding service (I know I said that earlier, but it bears repeating). Probably won't be back, though.

Baleen is beautiful. It's a five star restaurant in a five star hotel in a five star location. Be certain that it is pricy. But what do you expect for one the best views of the sunset off the west coast of Florida. The Gulf looks best from this patio, and I've seen it from many. I've spent many a sunset sitting outside, enjoying my jumbo jumbo shrimp cocktail and substantially poured Crown Royal. From walking in to the lobby, through the well appointed restaurant, and watching over the immaculate grounds, I am impressed, every time. I've only stayed at the La Playa once, but I do love coming back for the sunsets. They ring the bell when the sun dips below the horizon, and everyone applauds. It's very cool, sitting there, legs crossed, hand resting on the crisp linen, watching the beach walkers all slow to a stop and turn to watch the sunset. I've never applauded myself, but one day I might. For now, I just like being a spectator. Watching.

it was very nice ambiance right in the lobby of the la playa hotel (which im dying to stay at since it is a small hotel, direclty on the beach) they were accomodating for our late lunch/early dinner and large group. yes the service was a little slow but they were nice and attentive. the food is good and they have a kids menu as well which is nice to not have to pay top dollar for kids. its pretty expensive. its not my first pick in naples, but if staying at hotel, or want a nice outdoor seating with a beautiful view and money isnt an issue, this is your place..

Being spoiled by my Bay Area, California living... I can really only give Baleen's a 3 stars. Given the weather, I feel like I didn't get the full experience. Because of the brisk weather, I was not able to sit outside by the waters, which is the really good part. Also, I was there on a Saturday night where there is a so-so jazz band playing and a few birthday celebrations so it was quite noisy. The service was OK, but on the slow side. For thr price, I can really only give it 3 stars. It was expensive for what we got.

The hotel kind of has a feel of old southern charm; we were able to eat outside on the porch; the sunset was beautiful! The food is very good, but a bit pricey, party of 6 with dinner and drinks, $600. But, it is vacation. I had the black and blue for starters, a salad wedge with blue cheese and bacon with grilled shrimp, tasty. I had the blackened ahi tuna with stir fry; I requested medium well; it was more like a medium, it was still very tasty and enjoyable Others in the group tried the salmon and blackened grouper; all were well garnished and tasty. The osoboco was made from lamb and it just fell off the bone; amazing. We has a creme brûlée and pumpkin cheese cake for desert, both very nice. A very nice restaurant with a great view for a special occasion

In my mind, trying to have a high-end dining option in a tropical location can be challenging. No one wants to have to wear a jacket and tie when it's hot outside. And it is even more rare to get a high-end beach side restaurant to accommodate for toddlers as well. But, Baleen merges high-end family dining with a casual tropical feel very well. The restaurant and the hotel that it is in, are absolutely gorgeous. The entire restaurant overlooks the ocean and if you are so lucky, you get treated with an incredible sunset as you dine. We came to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday and wanted to do it right! Our server was fantastic, very fast and friendly. He walked us through the menu and his own personal favorites. He also pointed out the prix fixe option (which is an incredibly reasonable $39 for 3 courses). We started off with some cocktails, and they were all delicious. They were not too sweet, and were nicely crafted with some luxurious touches. We had the tartar, carpaccio, fried goat cheese and burrata to start. Everything was wonderful, but I do have to say that the tartar was probably the best that I have ever had. It had really nice flavor but it did not overwhelm the taste of the tuna. Really tasty! Bob got the black grouper while I went with the lobster risotto (duh). This is where I was a little let down. The grouper really did not taste like anything? It was really bland and needed some seasoning to shine. I don't believe that grouper inherently is really flavorful, so having a really bland starch on the plate does not do anything to help. Now, my risotto was something else. It was nothing other than decadent. You could taste the butter and truffle infusing every bite and the little pieces of apple really added a nice brightness to a very creamy dish. The dessert was also fabulous, the only let down was the pineapple upside down cake. It was just meh... nothing great. I had the blueberry cobbler with ice cream and it was amazing! It was served nice a hot with a wonderful crispy crust and melty ice cream... mmmmmmmmmm! Overall, the restaurant and experience were wonderful! We had a wonderful time and since it was my dad's birthday, the restaurant took a family photo for us, printed it and put it in a nice card for us - FOR FREE! If you and your family are looking for a kid friendly, fancy and beach side restaurant destination - look no further, this is it!

I really liked this place. I went here for my birthday and the wait staff made me feel so special! They gave me a red rose when I sat down. They took a nice photograph of me and my family and made copies for us. They also gave me a free happy birthday dessert, which was delicious. If you go, you MUST sit outside. It is so beautiful because it is right on the beach. We got there at 5pm so we could watch the sunset at around 6:20. Absolutely breathtaking! The food was delicious. We had the lobster bisque, ceviche, grouper, snapper. My boyfriend had the whole snapper, which was really good. My mom had the spinach salad and a steak from the prix fixe menu, which she really liked. They have an extensive wine list, but there are many affordable options. The food is expensive, but is well worth it for the taste and the entire experience. You just have to splurge once in awhile. The service, food, and atmosphere was wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday. Thank you Baleen!!!!

Prime property. This is one of the only restaurants/bars on the water, perfect for sunset cocktails or dinner. I suggest making reservations and asking to sit outside! I went so long ago that what I ordered is no longer on the menu. I won't go into details about my dishes but I will say that I fell in lust with the arugula salad and the yellowtail was flavorful and perfect. The double chocolate cake was too rich to finish (disclaimer: I am not a dessert gal) but it was still mouth-watering. They have a respectable wine list, if basic with crowd-pleasing names, and the service was as expected for fine dining. Bravo.

Great view! However, I was disappointed with my dish. The lobster with risotto did not live up to my expectations; the risotto was room temp no flavor and had chunks of butter that had not melted. Quite honestly, it was not worth the price.

The food was great and the setting was splendid. Our server Gary did a great job. The only reason I held back 5 stars was the restaurant didn't take the time to read our special requests we made on Open Table and I thought the prices were a bit high.

A breathtaking scenery with ocean view and dancing fires on torches. Excellent service (we had a server who replaced ice as they melted!). Extensive wine and cocktail list. Ceviches and Crudos were superb, as was the braised beef Papardelle. The Lobster mac and cheese, however, was an embarrassment - Velveta with no hint of anything remotely crustacean. For a great romatic dining, try to make a reservation around 5-6 pm at outdoor seating for the best sunset view.

I was in FL last week and went to this restaurant twice. Once for dinner and another time for lunch. It's part of the La Playa spa resort. The view is spectacular and the setting very beautifull with torches, beach dining ... Staff is attentive. Where it fails is the cuisine. It was mediocre at best. I tried a variety of dishes from lobster cobb salad to lobster bisque to crab cakes to tilapia to lamb. None were really above average in terms of quality, creativity or taste. If they really want to put this restaurant on the map they need to refine the cuisine a bit. Right now its not on par. Everything else was great.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. We were in town celebrating our anniversary and made a reservation for dinner. The food, the service and of course the setting overlooking the beach was wonderful. It was still a bit early when we left so we decided to head to Silverspot to catch a movie. With younger children we don't get a chance to see many adult movies so this was a rare treat. While in the movie theater, my phone kept ringing nonstop with a 239 area code popping up. It was a Sunday night and as we don't know very many people in the area we couldn't imagine who could be calling . Perturbed, my husband took my phone out of the theater and into the hallway. He listened to the voicemail message from the hostess calling from the Baleen claiming that we didn't pay our bill. He took the receipt out of his wallet and called the restaurant. Again, the hostess told him we never left the room number or paid our bill. He told her he has the receipt in his hand and he wants to talk to the manager. After being on hold for five minutes the manager finally got on the phone. The manager asked my husband if the bill was $116. My husband replied no it was $144. Oh, sorry we have the wrong person. The manager again apologized but that was it. My husband told him next time he better check his facts before making any kind of a call like this. The fact that they handled this so poorly gives us pause to ever go back there again. We understand mistakes can happen, but it was the way that it was handled, totally unprofessional. Also, the fact that they were in a panic, calling multiple times in a row over a $100 bill being unpaid also causes us to wonder why so desperate for $100.

Outstanding food, warm and friendly service in a beautiful setting-what more could you ask for? I had tomato burrata and lobster risotto and my husband had the hearts of Palm salad and faro-stuffed cabbage-everything was fresh and delicious. Presentation was lovely and the staff was attentive without being pushy. A great dining experience all around-we will definitely return!

The photos say it all. The view is spectacular. You get the beach, the ocean, the trees and the breeze. I enjoyed my breakfast experience - the eggwhite and veggie omelet is delicious. I just wish they didn't charge for a cup of coffee and it came complimentary if you're ordering breakfast.

Wow - great meal in a spectacular, beachside setting right on the Gulf. My wife and I drove down from Ft. Myers for a date night, and it was well worth the trip. The scallops and lobster bisque were outstanding, and my wife thought her tuna was fantastic! Lots of great places to eat in Naples, but next time we're in Southwest Florida again, it'll be hard to pass this place up!

We had a wonderful dinner here to celebrate my husband's Birthday while on vacation. The location was great and the views/setting was spectacular. We ate on the lower patio (closest to the ocean) and it was magnificent. The food was excellent- highly recommend the calamari, burrata, steak, and apple blueberry crumble. We found the food to be just as good as any upscale steakhouse in Chicago. Highly recommend this place- don't forget your camera!

We dined here 10 years ago during our stay and it was lovely. But most recently, we stopped by for drinks one evening. On the beach there are tiki torches and several fire pits surrounded by Adirondack chairs. The cocktail waitresses are friendly, attentive, and work hard to take care of all the customers enjoying themselves. Drinks are fantastic and the atmosphere is perfect for an upscale evening on the beach. They even sell kits to make your own s'mores! It was a wonderful evening and my husband and I will be sure to return.
