Just OK... American Italian.. Heavy Red Sauce out of a can..... Priced little high for the quality of food... Staff friendly... Would not be on my go to list...

Food was good as usual. Waited 5 minutes for a server for drinks. Plastic in her salad. Ask twice for a water. Took her only fork away with salad for dinner. So we had to take the neighboring table. Guess it could be worse.

Great tomato sauce, generous portions, and a friendly staff. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Naples. I had the Gnocchi Sorentina and my husband had chicken parm, which was a nice piece of real chicken breast (not a frozen patty), tenderized and breaded with a side of spaghetti. Will definitely go back again.

What a fabulous meal!! THE BREAD..THE DIPPING OIL...the salad...Italian wedding soup.....mmmmm. Great food, great service cold beer. What more could this Italian ask for? The veal chop was unbelievable!! The crab & lobster ravioli was excellent. All of the employees have been so kind to my wife while she is in Naples tending to her elderly parents. This has been her go to spot every night for nourishment and adult beverages. Mangia!!!

Excellent pasta, their garlic oil and bread is very good. Reservations for parties of six or more, which is a must during season.

I checked this place out the other night while on vacation. My family and I had some pizza and gnocchi. Everything was good. We had Rosa as our server who crushed it and did a fantastic job!!

Blah Upside- salad and bread were good. Dipping oil was excellant Bad side- 1. Service- BAD. Waitress was rude and clueless. Through out dinner she used our table as her service station for other customers, including to open wine, deliver food, clear dishes, etc. Uploaded a picture of her dirty tray she forgot on our table while serving other customers. Also acted like a request for pepper on a salad as a custom order for imported cheese. Service level and placing dirty items on someone else's table wouldn't be acceptable at McDonalds. 2. Food. Blah. Some of the other tables pastas looked better but the red and white pizzas and the pasta we ordered were terrible, they had NO taste. Both pizzas were soggy (needed utensils to eat) and the red sauce tasted like tomato paste from elementary school cafeterias of my youth. With all the Italian restaurants in Naples I imagine anywhere would have better pizza and service including the Publix freezer section next store

Aldos is my favorite Naples restaurant. The food is always amazing, and the pizza is the absolute best in Naples! In season its always best to make a reservation since they get packed. They have great deals in the summer, I started following them on facebook so I could get the updates on the daily deals they have like 1/2 price pizza or pasta & free appetizer with meals. I recommend the chicken Aldos if you go for dinner - it's one of a kind and will not disappoint! I have 2 young children and the staff are always accommodating to us. UPDATE - They now serve lunch Mon-Fri and have some great choices. The prices are good and they have some great sub selections.

We ate there while on vacation as a last minute decision. My wife was craving gnocchi but I really wasn't in the mood for pasta. Ultimately I'm glad we went because after taking my first bite of Chicken Saltimbocca I was amazed. It was a perfect balance of prosciutto, mozzarella and spinach. Also I want to give a shout out to Captain Sean our waiter. He was very friendly and on top of everything we needed. 4 stars only because the location didn't seem to be on par with the great quality of food.

Ok...This review is based on my experiences with eating Pizza at Aldo's. Meh... Generous 2 stars. OK...Friday night and a typical 25 minute wait. Brisk business is going on inside and out. The regulars are flowing in and out. I am in the mood for veal and my wife wants to give the pizza another try...Sigh...Didn't care for it last time if I recall but endure I must.. Dark inside with mostly 2 large TVs doing most of the illumination beyond table candles. Waiting long enough to review the drinks and dinner menus around 5 times. My wife and I agree to the Italian Margaritas and waters. Reading the menu a few more times and then these massive drinks arrive with great anticipation. My wife loves hers. She downs it via straw and licking the sugary rim in minutes. I savor mine and just wished that it had a better kick as margaritas should. The Desaronno amoretto was a great touch and the love of my drink which I expected to last for a while, dissipated as I realized that I purchased a glass of ice. This drink has little value to me. We agree on a 16' pizza with my half with mushrooms and meatballs.... Drinks are gone and we tend to our waters as the silent TVs simulcast a golf tournament. Now a simple glass of water can keep me happy. Not tonight... This restaurant has to seriously invest in a filtration system. I did not expect this! Endure once again. My wife and I entertain each other well but we both seem to be looking around at who is actually getting their food Why so many crossed arms? Is it the cool weather or a bit of anger on the cusp of venting? I start playing with my new beard and the pizza comes. It is slid onto the classic raised aluminum tray stand and we say we are set to eat. I always try my pizza without adding stuff... The crust on the edges is way over crisp and the toppings settled towards the middle and sogged out the inner pizza so much that the toppings just slid off giving me an even sauce less crust. I eat the best I can and quickly discover that the pizza is flavorless. Seriously flavorless. I won't have garlic or oregano or basil or any sort of decent burp later on. The mushrooms were lacking everything. The meatballs were merely flavored ground beef. The sauce is what really needs help. Try an onion or garlic for crying out loud. Our waiter didn't care to see if all was well. He was cordial and smiles though. When we were seated however, I did indicate that I would like to hear his recommendations and they were never in his mind as he took our order. Fine...we got what we asked for. I will say this... A measure of a quality pizza is noted by me eating the entire crusts. I left almost 3 inches of crust. It was really a disappointment and I will return to try something totally different. Just not for a saucy dish. Skip this one if you know pizza. Otherwise...You must endure like I did..

I'd never been here even though I live close by, and despite weight gaining issues of late, I decided to try a calzone. I went in and sat at the bar. The handsome young waiter was attentive but got busy immediately and a manager type took over for him right away. The place was just getting busy and the service was really great. I like that there wasn't a single fake flower in the joint. Real roses on the bar had me feeling at ease and I considered eating-in. I ordered a veggie calzone with ham for take-out and an ice-tea while I waited. The tea was tasty and I enjoyed the atmosphere during the wait resolving to eat in next time after examining the menu. Got the calzone home and the crust was good, but everything else about it was mediocre. Skimpy low-quality ingredients. The ham was practically non existent and I actually thought they forgot it until I came across a teeny bit in the very center. The melted mozarella was a gummy lump and the mushrooms may have started out fresh but ended up having a briny canned quality upon execution. Sad. I'll give it another shot for an entree next time, but this wasn't a great start.

Meh. I guess it's ok. There are several FAR better places to get pizza in town: Aurelios for excellent Chicago-style thin-crust, Cosmo's when you want something that tastes like it's straight outta Italy, and L'Appetito or Joey D's for some better-than-average NY style pizza. Both times I went to Aldo's recently, I was given pizza that was kind of soggy and had that "cheap cheese" taste (kind of like the cheese on a frozen pizza). The sausage they use is just plain awful. Was tempted to get something other than pizza the last time I went, but their entree prices are through the roof compared to other places. Aldo's consistently gets ranked very highly whenever the Naples Daily News does a poll for the best pizza, and it just doesn't make sense. The other places I mentioned make WAY better pizza, hands down.

Swung into Aldo's after church Saturday afternoon based on their #1 ranking for pizza in the Naples Daily News. Aldo's is tucked into a strip mall on the south side of Davis Boulevard, a little bit off the beaten track. Their store front faces east, so easy to miss from the east-west road. Once inside the large, long dining room is dominated by a long bar and dark wood tones. There looked to be a separate dining room off the north side of the main room. There were only about four tables in use at 4:30pm on Saturday, which may have been why the music (Italian standards like "That's Amore") sung by no-name performers seemed a little overpowering. More diner noise may have mitigated the sound level. Service was prompt, efficient, courteous and professional. I had water and bread very quickly, and the bread basket is great! Slices of hot french bread served with butter and olive oil, and just the right balance of crust and doughiness. The appetizer and pizza followed quickly, faster than expected. I tried the Mozzarella Fritta sampler and it was a step above the usual Mozzarella sticks. Plump fingers of cheese lightly breaded with a nice Marinara sauce, although presented on a too-large plate that makes the food look small by comparison. The pizza did not disappoint! I ordered the "American" (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, olives, green and red peppers) and it was on a par with the best pizza I have had in Naples, or anywhere. Fantastic crust that was tasty right out to the end of each piece. The only negative was that it was a touch soft in the middle, so the tip of each slice had to be eaten by fork and knife, but sturdy enough from that point on to pick up and eat by hand. Toppings seemed hand cut and prepared rather than canned. The sausage in particular was razor thin, but wide slices. And the green peppers were large slices, not little cubes. The balance of cheese, toppings, sauce and crust was just right so none overpowered any of the others. Prices were reasonable, $25 for the whole meal including tip. Living in North Naples on Vanderbilt Beach I am not sure I would make the drive down to Aldo's just for the pizza, but when in the neighborhood would definitely stop in again and try some of their other dishes!

Let me begin if you're in a hurry, Aldo's is not for you. Although it seems to be a trend in Naples, service is slow - perhaps you are expected to slow down with them? Aldo's is located in a very unassuming strip mall and is frequented by locals. Def off the beaten path. Anyway, we were seated near the stage and there was a live singer. The speakers were quite loud. I wish they would hook it up to an overhead system rather than stand alone speakers. The atmosphere attempted is an upperscale sort of feel with white linens, but the floor (skim coat) and wall treatments (REALLY bad "fresco" paintings) leaves much to be desired. The bread and dipping oil provided was delicious and like crack - I couldn't stay away. My antipasta appetizer came out several minutes after my companions hot apps, which was annoying. The salad included with the entree was sort of sad - one tomato, one cucumber, a ton of lettuce and a ton of olives. Just seemed odd. The entree - gnocchi Gorgonzola was AMAZING and totally saved the meal for me. We got tiramasu after our dinner mate raved and really weren't impressed - we should have skipped it. My cappuccino was decent though. Overall I thought the price was a little high for what it was, but perhaps if I truly enjoyed the entertainment I'd feel differently. You're also in a resort town so higher prices should be expected. NOTE: Our friends said they have ordered take out pizza from here several times and they have a severe problem with time estimation. 20 minutes that they tell you is usually 40, and when they went the last time at 40 minutes (even though instructed at 20) they STILL had to wait for their food. Get a clock Aldos!

After hearing so many good things about Aldo's we finally decided to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. We started with drinks at the bar. The bartender was fast attentive and pretty witty. When we asked for a table for dinner he got us taken care of quickly even though it was quite busy. Once seated we were greeted warmly by our server and received wonderful fresh bread and AMAZING dipping oil. We both ordered entrees that came with free soup or salad. Not being rushed thankfully our entrees arrived hot and freshly cooked. My girlfriend raves still about her chicken Aldo and my veal chop was no doubt the best deal in town. We will be back often. Great service great food.

We shared a white pizza and cheese ravioli; both were excellent. The service was fast and friendly. A jazz band was playing and we enjoyed them as well. Good choice for Italian food and some music in East Naples.

I feel like Aldos has a new chef. Two different veal dishes, both with the same salty, watery brown gravy. Super disappointed in the food and the service. The server never even checked back to see if we enjoyed the food. Didn't used to be that way. Probably won't go back.

I must say I'm real disappointed. After I read Aldo is a trained chiel from a culinary school in Rhode Island and born in Naples Italy my culinary curiosity had to know. I started with the Italian Wedding Soup. Not Bad. I was there toward closing so perhaps I got the bottom of the pot but the whole thing just didn't taste homemade. I've grew up on this stuff every holiday so I think I have more than a little knowledge on what it should taste like. I grew up on "escarole soup" we used to pronounce it "SCH_OLE SOUP". Anyway it was just ok. Next I had to try the meatballs because I believe you can always tell a restaurant by the meatballs. Now before I go any further let me describe my grandmother's meatballs which were perfection. First Off you need to use three kinds of meat: Veal, Pork and Beef. Second you need chunks of bread not just regular bread crumbs. Lastly your meat ball should never be dense but easy to cut into gently with a fork. Also's meat balls to me tasted simply like beef balls. Very Dense. Now you may prefer this I can't speak for you however for my taste I was not impressed. The sauce that the meat balls came it was also eh. It was a bit lifeless. Next I had the gnocchi sorrentino. This gonocchi drowning in a tomato sauce with lots of mozzarella cheese. I believe based on my experience which includes 25 times to italy pasta should never be over sauced. It's not pasta soup! The gonocchi were not bad but were very dense. The best gonocchi i've ever had were little soft pillows of pasta that melt in your mouth. Lastly I had sauteed spinach, it was very very good. I understand they use garlic, olive oil and white wine. I will be trying that recipe at home. So before I conclude I understand that Aldo owns the restaurant Taco's and Tacquila, the self proclaimed American style mexican restaurant. I will tell you it's great however going in there I'm not looking for a over the top mexican experience. So Aldo being from Naples Italy was a big reason I wanted to try this. It had to be authentic but it simply wasn't. Now perhaps Also is catering to the general public here in Naples Florida which tends to be a bit bland an midwestern (Please don't get me wrong I really like midwesterners but I wouldn't call them italian food experts). Fortunately 'fortunately' I was able to drown my sorrows in my final test of an italian restaurant: Do they have grappa. They Did. I really really really wanted to love this place but I think I'll stick to his mexican place. So disappointed.........

I am used to New York style pizza and this place was outstanding. Pizza had excellent sauce and very fresh cheese. Crust was thin and crispy just like we asked for. Everyone was happy with what they ordered. Wait staff was helpful and friendly.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
