I am giving it 3 stars as opposed to 2 because the service was amazing and the staff in general was awesome. Shout out to Laura! The food looked good but could of tasted better. Best thing I had was the coke slaw. The ribs were average, as were the brisket and the sausage. the pulled pork wasn't very tender and the yeast roll was a hockey puck - get the corn bread muffin instead. The catfish was pretty good but no good flavorful hot sauce to put with it. Greens had a lot of stems and potato salad was very mayonnaisy. Ok and the peach cobbler - I mean peach cake wasn't very good either, dry, not ur typical juicy sweet cobbler.

Great service from everyone! The BBQ was not bad, wish they had a hotter sauce. But over all great atmosphere and plenty of TVs to track sports with.

I love their food, but brian or Brandon or whatever in the front is stuck up and condescending. the only bad experience here. also, before you accommodate a customer's request to put some berries in their lemonade, think twice about putting some sugar-free kool aid or whatever in it. I had to leave my lemonade on the table last Friday, sept. 11, because of the 'sweetener' bad aftertaste

If you love good bbq, this is not the place for you. Mediocre food, mediocre service! Looks like the weigh the meat, then put it on bread which they call texas toast instead of a bun. Not my idea of great bbq. Very bland..No flavor what so ever. Save your money and go to the texas roadhouse for ribs...My husband had the shrimp etouffee said it was just ok. It did have Plenty of shrimp in it. Will not be back.

Normally have the out of this world bbq each time. This time I decided to go outside the box and try the shrimp and grits. Rack that up to another great decision on my part. Who would have thought to put andouille sausage in a grit cake?!? I'm sure glad they did.

My husband took me here back in 2007 when it was red barn. Its ok but I am not a big pork eater. I get a healthier choice. Salad or grilled chicken.

Won't be going back. Every time I go, I'm disappointed yet again. Brisket is dry, Mac and cheese was the equivalent of dog food, breading on okra was the pits, pulled pork was also dry, overpriced kids menu when they didn't eat any of it. Only thing good was the fries (when they obviously came out of a bag) and friendly staff. Do yourself a favor and drive somewhere else.

Just moved back to the south and after being a week post travel through Texas I was craving BBQ so I thought I would check out what my new town had to offer. When we pulled up it smelled amazing! Unfortunately it wavered from there. Fried green tomatoes were good and my collards were acceptable and surely not even close to mine(add hot sauce provided for some taste) So here's the thing I had a three meat platter w pulled pork, brisket, and sausage.. For it being a BBQ honestly I would have rather drive to Pcola for Sonnys which is a huge let down. The brisket was ok but the pork had no real flavor and I usually can tell if I'm going to get a plate of good BBQ on a couple of factors whether or not it comes out naked(meaning not drenched w sauce) and how it's marbilized(the color that it takes on when it's been BBQ to perfection) and no offense it came out covered in sauce I was automatically let down upon first bite. Also the waitress that served us well it was hard to get much out of her it made me feel like I was in Wa state again with cold people hey in sorry but a single mom has to eat too and my kids were actually well behaved. Definitely not the type of service you want in a mom pop owned joint I'm all about supporting non chain places however I probably won't return anytime soon and honestly they need to work on their southern hospitality.

Last time I was in town this was called the Red Barn. I DREAMED about their dumplings! But now it's Grover T's BBQ and while they didn't offer dumplings, they make some serious pulled pork. The lunch specials were all pretty much under $9, generously sized and came out fast and hot. I had the pulled pork and one of the things I judge pulled pork on is if there are any crispity bits to it (leftover from the meat's "bark"). There was and it was GUUUUD. It was a beautiful afternoon so we sat outside on the porch under the ceiling fans and it was delightful.

Driving back to Pensacola we decided to stop at Grover T's. It was Saturday evening at 4:30 and not many cars in the lot, but this is a semi-rural area, so maybe this is normal. I vaguely recall eating here before, but it must have been years. I wondered if it was the place with the uncomfortable chairs, and I was right. The waitress walked past empty booths to seat us in the back with those chairs and we asked for a booth. Then we noticed there was little to no air conditioning in the booth section. Some overflow air made it bearable. The service was quick and friendly. We ordered the smoked wings and they were good. ( I wish we had ordered them with no sauce.) The meal came out quickly afterward. Well, the St. Louis ribs were thin and flat, burned, and dried out. They were "fall off the bone" ribs, but the meat was crumbly. On the other hand, the pulled pork was very good. I ordered the potato casserole side, took one bite and yeah... I wouldn't be eating that. It was sour cream and oniony grossness with a strange texture. My other side was collard greens. They were fresh, cooked with meat, but not seasoned and required a lot of salt. I ate them all. My husband's fried okra resembled fried oysters so I tasted one. It was not cooked through, still crunchy and raw inside. I also tried my son's mac and cheese and it was dry and unimpressive. It's hard to rate a BBQ place poorly, especially when their pork is good, but this place was not very good and we will not be going back.

Awesome! The service and food here are very satisfying. We have been here 5 times now, and have never had a poor experience. The food is tasty and portions big and filling. I actually always have left overs. The waiting time for seating is non existent and the food is served in less than 10 minutes. The food is not from a can and handmade there. Upon leaving the hostess was very nice and opened the door for us on our way out.

Expensive for lunch. Breading for okra and onion rings was tasty. BBQ was applied over meat. I applied more at the table. Waitress was great. Sweet tea was very good.

When I used to live in Milton ( ages ago! ) this place was Red Barn. And it was a hot mess. We went once. My parents still live in Milton and we were hungry and ended up here in hopes they had fixed the inside up as nice as they had on the outside! They did! ( Sometimes I do judge a book by its cover. . . ) The Bbq nachos with pork are divine to say the least. Just so, so tasty. I wish I had ordered this as a meal versus to split, it was so good. The ingredients were all fresh, and clearly whoever they had doing the tortilla chips is latino/a and knows what they're doing in being able to roll a tortilla so flipping thin so when they're fried it's just. . . so crisp. And the pork was delicious too. Roomie had the smoked turkey and she said it was really good! I had the brisket and while I wasn't wild about it, I'd definitely try something else and come back! It was just a bit bland and a bit dry. Still, the restaurant was pretty impeccably clean and the service was really good. No frills, no pretension, nada, just good food. Can't wait to have the nachos again when I'm back in Milton.

The first time we tried this new restaurant we didn't care for it. It was very average. My green beans were so spicy, I couldn't even eat them. We gave it a 2nd try a few weeks later & were even less impressed. Simple BBQ chicken & it was dry & lacked flavor. This time, the service was slow with no refills & lots of waiting. Not very busy that night so it shouldn't have been a problem. We were really pulling for this place but just weren't impressed. Gave them a year or so to get settled in. Went back. Same results.

Good waitress and nice atmosphere. Ribs were ok but the brisket is dry and flavorless. Potato casserole was good cole slaw sweet and limp. Probably won't go back but have heard pulled pork is good.

    (2)
  • Olivia G.

Ribs were delicious - tender and good flavor. Brisket was pretty good but could have been more moist and smoky. At first I thought the potato salad was a bit rich but liked them more with each bite. They have a very thick sour cream base which goes great with the baked beans. Good crispy, soft, barely sweet corn bread. Had the deviled eggs for appetizer and while we thought they were good, should have been 6$ instead of $8. I look forward to going back to try the shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, and Bourbon Pecan pie! Excellent quick service.

  • Cory S.

The service was very good overall. The host was quick to seat is, and our waitress was attentive to our drinks and coming back to check on us. This review gets three stars because of my dinner. My friend and I each got a different plate; beef brisket and pulled pork. Both meats were very tender but they were dry. These meats both when served right should be moist and tender. As a BBQ joint, cooking meat to perfection should be their forté.

  • Kevin K.

The real deal. I've eaten here a dozen times and every thing from the green beans to the sweet tea has been consistently tasty. I hardly like many southern smokehouses, it's hard to find a smokehouse that tries as hard as your grandpa or friends on a summer day. Grover T's tries and they succeed in my eyes. I recommend the smoked turkey, with some fried green tomatoes to start. Also, the building looks either brand new or renovated- either way it's clean and relaxing. Btw, I have no affiliation.

    (5)
  • John D.

Good service but the pork and ribs lacked in quality. They need to also add several more choices for their sauces. A good sauce brings out the flavor of the meat. The house version of their sauce lacks in this area

  • Michael A.

Decent BBQ, it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to BBQ, but this was really good. Service was stellar. Fast, friendly, informative... Liked the brisket, and the sweet sauce. I'd visit again...

  • Grant G.

I liked it. Friendly staff. The ribs were juicy. Brisket coulda been juicier. Deviled eggs were good. Baked beans were good. Potato salad was good. Nothing to complain of. Will be back to try the bourbon pecan pie.

We had a great time at Grover T's! There seems to be a special place to sit in the restaurant for your group, no matter how big, small, whatever the occasion. Best of all, the slab of ribs I had were second to none.

  • Jason T.

The food was really quite good. We ordered several different items and everybody enjoyed their meals. We ordered everything from pulled pork to shrimp, to salad and wings. Unfortunately, the food is not the whole experience. The staff seemed quite clueless. Our food took well over 30 minutes to arrive...at lunch time. When we asked our server about a time frame, all she could say was it would "be a little while longer" and declare that she was afraid to go into the kitchen because they scream at her (I kid you not). Then the manager swung by to check on us and proceeded to imply that we were idiots who had no idea how long we had been there, telling us the exact time our order hit the kitchen. Turns out it hit the kitchen almost 15 minutes after we ordered. But it seems that did not matter, as he kept saying how sorry he was that we felt we had been there longer than we really had. Wow! I don't care how good the food was; they have lost our business forever.
