I've been coming to Woody's BBQ in Kendall for a few years now. I love this Mom & Pop shop. These ladies are the sweetest. This is how I like my BBQ. Their spare ribs are my favorite but I dine here pretty often so I usually rotate between Spare ribs, baby back ribs, Brisket and pulled pork. I love the crinkle fries and BBQ beans too! Nom nom nom. Great prices. FANTASTIC service, every time. Ample parking and seating. Everything is always SUPER CLEAN. BONUS: They have Redds Apple Ale! :)

I wish I could give them no stars at ALL.... First, server/host was completely unkempt. Asked for sweet tea with lemon, they only carry lime... (okay, wait...I thought sweet tea paired with bbq?) I digress, we still gave this place a shot dispite all the negative reviews since there are barely any bbq places around us.... Much to our dismay, the appetizer came... 10 dollars worth of fried disgust...we came for the zucchini bites, didn't even receive them or was told there wasn't any. The entree was repulsive. We got the platters, a little bite of everything...those bites we $17 each. COMPLETELY GROSS FOOD. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

Diner beware!!!! The last time I came here I was disappointed with the service and food was less than average. So once again against my better judgement, I'd give it another try. I am sorry I did. I ordered a rib combo and my wife ordered the full rack with two sides and onion rings as appetizers. Rings where greasy, her dish came with the sides mixed up with my dish. My chicken was, well I can even describe it just an odd texture to the outer portion before you break the skin and pull the meat with the fork, my ribs where very bland and had to coat it with sauce. Now I am eating a sauced rib. My baked potato had nothing but cheese and bacon, no butter. Her sweet potato was plain the never brought the brown Sugar or the butter either. I would not even feed this to my dog. The service was well, non existent. After she brought us the dishes she was not to be seen again, never came by to check on us. I ran out of my drink and had to call to their attention to ask for water and a wet nap. Worst $63.00 ever spent. And that is jut for two person. I would have rather given the money to a homeless person. Here is a tip people if a place is empty like this place usually is ... RUN!! Run Away!!! You intestines will thank you.. This post is getting a rating only because I can't post without one.

Super friendly young girl waitress. I had say that. Average food. Got the baby back and chicken combo. Portions were good with some to take home at the end. Sauces are really good. Don't get dessert.

(July 2nd 2015)It was my first time going to this resturant. I must say that I was very disappointed going here. I went for lunch and order barbecue chicken breast , mash potatoes with gravy and cole slaw. On the menu has creamy coleslaw but it was far from being creamy. The mashed potatoes was cold and tasteless. We were going to order desert after because the pictures on the menu seem delicious but once we tasted how horrible the food was we changed our mind of ordering desert. The service was okay. I don't like giving negative reviews but I think it's best to be honest so they know what they need to work on.

Eating at this place yesterday was the biggest mistake. We had been to this BBQ place a few years back and I remember that I wasn't crazy about it then but last night made up my mind. NEVER AGAIN. Th service was good, we were seated right away, not that the place was full for us to wait. Our server was attentive and brought our appetizer and drinks fairly quick. The problem was the food, I ordered a plate called WOODY's SPECIAL, it is a dish that has spare ribs, pulled pork, Texas toast, and two sides which I chose them to be a baked sweet potato pie and cole slaw. First of all the spare ribs were dried, full of tiny little bones or burnt meat. The pulled pork didn't look appetizing as it looked like it had been regurgitated(I am sorry but it did) and at a price of $16.99 it was just not worth it. One of my son's ordered a Bacon Angus burger, the meat patty was to be well done; however, I noticed that my son too only a couple of bites and I asked him why is he not eating it and he said "Mom, it is burned, it tasted like cardboard" I took a bite and indeed he was right, it was the horrible. Ok, granted we ordered well done and we have had well done at SHORTYS BBQ and it had flavor and definitely not burned. We called our server over and told her that his burger was done and she said well you ordered well done, I said, well done yes, not burned.. She said well if you wanted replaced I am going to have to charge you, to me that was the wrong answer, as they should care and do everything they can to make their customers walk out of there happy and want to come back. Sorry, but this kind of attitude causes a customer to say "NEVER AGAIN" Lesson learned!!!!

The chicken and ribs, chicken was horrible the ribs were good the Mac and cheese was soupy the baked beans were edible but the bacon in it was chewy the beer was cold! The service was mediocre.

I'm in the middle of my meal here at woodys and at the risk of smearing bbq sauce all over my cellphone I HAD TO post a 5-star review because these folks deserve it! Detailed review to follow.

I will start by saying that i hate giving places a low rating. Especially when i see the response the establishment has given some of these reviews. Those responses aren't too friendly. But alas, I feel so strongly that i must review. My grandmother and i walked in on a Sunday at about 330. There were two other couples there. We were greeted and right away. We decide what we want to order almost immediately. In time to give it to the girl who asked what we wanted to drink. I say "girl who asked us what we wanted to drink" bc when she took our drink order and I tried to give her our food order I was told that she was not a server and only allowed to bring us our drinks. That was odd. I eat out often and have never encountered that response. I only saw 3 ppl working... the drink girl, the bar girl and the lady who sat us. Turns out the lady who sat us was the server also. She took our food order: 2 Carolina pulled pork sandwiches- 1 with fries and 1 with mashed potatoes and gravy. But... she hesitated at the mashed potatoes part. She tells me she thinks they are just doing them now bc they ran out. My thought is "so?! That's a good thing! Fresh mashed potatoes!" We finally get our two cokes from the drink girl. They taste terrible. More like water than anything. No one came to our table until we received our food from the drink girl. We told her about the soda and she told me she would have to pour me the sodas from the bar bc the source she got my soda from had been giving them problems earlier in the day. My thought "tmi. just make my soda taste like coke. And if you knew it was a problematic source you shouldn't have given me coke from there. " While we wait for the soda, we investigate our food. The sandwich looked dry. There was no sauce. we added our own sauce. The Carolina tasted acrid. That's the first word that came to mind. So grandma and i settled with the sweet sauce. It tasted closest to bbq....but it was kinda off. I had the slight feeling it was old and possibly expired... and i had just poured it over my entire sandwich. The pork looked like it was not just made... which also concerned me. Pork is iffy and needs to be prepared properly. It tasted ok... but I was concerned. I kept thinking I shouldn't be eating this. I didn't feel right. Our server brought our drink. She told us she gave us less ice so it wouldn't taste like water. So, it wasn't the source?! I'm confused. Now I just warm soda that kinda tastes better than the drink before. I hated the mashed potatoes. They were def instant but with a heavy garlic, onion taste. Grandma swords she liked it so we traded sides. I got the fries. Delicious fries. No one came to check in while we ate. I ate everything bc I was hungry. We went to the local Publix, then BJ's. My grandmother asked me to also take her to Walmart, but I said no. I started feeling very sick to my stomach. I had only eaten this bbq and a small bread roll in the morning. I almost didn't make it to her bathroom. Terrible. Horrible. I threw up and everything you could imagine. The cold sweats were horrible. It's embarrassing, but I want to warn others. My grandma got sick also, but not as sick as me. Did I mention this was my birthday lunch? Happy birthday to me. I am so sick I am considering canceling my bday event tomorrow. This review is so long bc I had a lot of time to think and write while I was in my "throne." The staff was friendly and the fries were good, hence the 2 stars instead of one.

The first time we came when it opened, it was bad. We decided to give it another chance. A terrible mistake on our part. Second time around was just as bad. Lousy service. Lousy food. The briquettes were like cardboard .the Texas toast tasted day old. The country fried steak was horrible, completely inedible. My grandchildren were stuck eating mashed potatoes and french fries for dinner. To top it all off , everything came out cold. Management was very difficult. They didn't seem to care that we were unsatisfied with our meals. They gave us a very hard time when we complained about our meals and they didn't want to take our disgusting, uneaten meals off our check. Needless to say, this is a horrible excuse for BBQ and we will neve dine here again. We attempted to eat here on may 8th, 2015

We had been to Woody's in central Florida and enjoyed it just fine. Just "found" this one in Kendall. Was very disappointed. My wife didn't care for anything on her pork combo platter. I had a brisket combo. The brisket was just OK. Nothing to write home about. The smoked sausage, a big disappointment. Tried to "doctor" it with a sauce. Four on the table and none I would use. Service was fine, but that is not why we go out to eat. All in all, not a place we'll ever visit again. Way to many good place in the area.

I wanted to give this BBQ joint a higher rating because the manager seems really nice from reading the comments below. However, there are a few things that need to be improved. First and foremost, I came here around 7, and it was pretty empty-- good, considering that I am impatient sometimes. I sat at the bar, asked the waitress what she recommended, and she seemed a bit frazzled, like she did not know what was good on the menu. Nice but seemed a little bit lost. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, since it was under $10, and it came with a side of French fries. The sandwich could have been better. The pork was dry-- wished it was already smothered in sauce, and the fries were good. Very crisp. I was a bit disappointed because the serving was small, but hey, what can you expect for $8. Compared to other BBQ joints, it didn't stack up. It seemed more of a restaurant that was trying to be a BBQ joint. Kind of like a Flanigans meets a Shorty's, but the Flanigans is taking over. Overall, food was not bad, not good (I have had better), service was mediocre, but it is a good hangout spot.

I saw the terrible yelp reviews. But the groupon deal lured me in any ways. I think the main issue here is this is really a Spanish place trying to serve American. Oh but wait. That Asian cat waving behind the bar is confusing me more. I asked for water with lemon and they brought limes. So it must be Spanish. That happens at every real Mexican restaurant. The music is country. Terrible country tho so I doubt they are even paying attention to it. The food came out super fast but only 1 other customer so I'd hope so. Service has been good. Not gonna complain about the corn nuggets. More on good side but not great. Sweet potato kinda small. Tasted great. Beef brisket sandwich was great. Meat was great. Overall really good meal but over priced in my opinion based on the portion size and complaints from other yelp reviewers. I must not have ordered the bad items or the cook is having a good day today. 4 stars if it was cheaper.

Good barbecue in Miami is hard to come by, especially if you want the real stuff, which means not grilled, but marinated for hours and smoked for a fall off the bone texture. Woody's Barbecue in Kendall is just that. It's not a big location with 50 TVs, loud people, and all the hassle of getting great service. Woody's Barbecue pushes to give amazing service combined with amazing barbecue. When I arrived at Woody's, I did notice it might be a trek for most unless you live in Kendall but it's well worth the trip. It's a nice sized establishment, with a few flat screens, cool bar, and cozy seating. The customer service was inviting, I sat and soon was approached by the manager, who was energetic and open to foodie questions, which tells me a lot. Read the full review @ jblaze305.com

If you are going for the ribs you will be absolutely pleased!!! I mean 45 min in a smoker, 2 hours in the oven and then to the grill!! That sound as good as they taste

I went to this restaurant with my mom ordered the southwest salad and the half rack baby back ribs. Let me just say it was less than disappointing. To begin with we didn't get a warm welcome from the hostess (who seems to be the daughter of the owner). No smile. Nothing. We asked to be moved to another booth by the window and she said sure (and looked at us as if we were responsible for taking the menu and utensils to the other table) normally wouldn't be a problem except I have to help my mother walk. We sit down and look over the menu give her the order and she walks off. I call to her and she literally just stares at me from across the room??? I decide to change my order and she shrugs her shoulders with an attitude. We finally sit down. Then they bring my mom the smallest ribs I've ever seen. Literally tiny. I felt as if I was eating the meat off the bone with the edge of my teeth. Not happy* My mom then asks for some lemons and the owner confessed they don't have any and are waiting on more to come in (that's okay things happen, except her apology was less than convincing). My salad happened to be good but the service and my moms ribs were so sad that I was already upset and wanted to leave. We paid our $30 tab and left unsatisfied. Will never come here again. Waste of money and I felt like they were doing us a favor by feeding us. Bye bye woody now back to Sonnys (I love them)

Overall disappointed with this first time visit .... Generally dry brisket ,.. Pulled pork merely ok (very dry) ... Chicken saved it since it was nicely cooked. Can't mess up a baked sweet potato ... Baked beans were ok . The service was nice. The manager had a good attitude.

Hope the service is better for dinner than it is for lunch. 6 tables out of a possible 25 taken. After 15 minutes I speak w hostess. Finally she brings a server asking me "if I'm ready". Yup, ready to leave.

This establishment should not be considered a BBQ restaurant. It is by far one of the worst places I have ever ate at. Not only was our food cold but it tasted as if it was sitting for hours and then reheated. The mashed potatoes were definitely instant. The gravy was caked on the sides of the dish. The meat tasted so rubbery and bland. The little amount of food they give you for the amount you have to spend is ridiculous. The kids meals are not even on the menu and they charge 6.00 for cold fries and a cold hotdog. I didnt even attempt to try to beans but I bet they are from a can. There was 4 adults 2 children at our table. We had to pay all in one because the manager informed us she could not seperate the bill because they charge by tables.

My family and I were super excited to have barbecue but we were disappointed. Our server was a bit not pleased by serving us. It was more like we, paying customers, were bothering her. Our food was not cooked the way we ordered it and to add insult , most of the food was cold. Nothing tasted fresh. The drinks did not taste like sodas nor did the "sweet tea". But what was the most horrific part of our dinning experience was, the treatment we received . I cannot stress enough how ruid the staff is and was at this restaurant. I wish I read the reviews before coming here especially the negative reviews because they r right on the money.

The food isn't great and they have worse customer service. I called to order take out and attempted to swap out baked beans - because no one in our family eats them - with a different side. I offered to pay extra for the switch. To which they said wasn't possible. Struck me oddly that you can't choose the side dish you want or PAY EXTRA for the side dish you prefer if it isn't what comes with the meal. The woman on the phone then insisted I get two of the same sides and then order the side I wanted. Doesn't make sense for me to order double of something that's just going to go to waste. I refused the order and hung up. Called back to ask for a manager only to find out the person I was speaking with WAS the manager. Just piss poor customer service. After a heated exchange, I hung up..they actually called me back to get my order. Haha. They're nuts. I told the girl I'd rather eat a BBQ chicken from Publix than order from them. She had the audacity to say I needed "God" and "God Bless". They'll never have my business again and will likely go out of business as I see all the other negative reviews about this establishment. I've eaten here before. The food isn't anything to write home about. Very dry chicken, microwaved potatoes...there are many better BBQ spots in Miami, don't waste your time here. They luckily get one star, I'd rather none.

Service was HORRIBLE. I'm giving them two stars bc the food was decent. My fiancé and I had the BBQ Brisket Sandwich and the Prime Rib Sandwich. I also ordered the fried garlic mushrooms. The fried mushrooms (appetizer) came out 30 minutes after we ordered them. After the mushrooms arrived the manager confirmed our order and put it in for the first time! Even though we placed our order with the friend mushrooms 30 minutes prior. I had to send the mushrooms back bc they had no flavor other than grease. But we couldn't send them back immediately bc we never had a server. We finally got the attention of a young woman who was dressed in uniform and asked her who our server was and her response was, "I don't know, I really don't know how it works" We finally got our food which was decent but the service took away from the experience. We left as soon as we could.

I absolutely love this place! Come here with my husband all the time. I have the baby back ribs and they are fall-off the bone. The people that work there are super nice and attentive. We were seated immediately and had our food within minutes.

I don't know when these people are coming here or what they are ordering but I have never had bad food or service here. The smoked wings are awesome. The ribs are delicious. The staff is super sweat and they are very attentive. My only guess is the bad reviews must be competitors. Will definitely be back.

Hello Woody B from Woody Bar B Q. First off the waitress never asked to change my husbands mest up order. The waitress was not even apologetic. My husband only agreed to stay with his wrong order becuase the waitress was arguing with him. Now i understand about computers being glitchy. But that does not excuse the ruid waitress who also claimed she was the owner. The wiatress/owner agrued with other members of my party who she had charged their credit cards 3 times. Then she gave us someone elses bank card. As too service and tip, the waitress could not even get are drinks order correct. Not only did we have to deal with our incorrect drink order but we had to deal with the attitude and ruidness of the waitress. And throughout this whole bad experience , we kept our cool. So exactly why would we leave a tip? For the abuse that we recieved? And as far as the plates being cleaned, you definetely have the wrong party since each and ever memeber of my party left food on thier plates. We will MOST certainly NOT be back. And for the record, this is a free country and that allows us freedom of speech. We can post factual reviews if we want to. We are not the only dissatisfied customers, look at the other negative reviews. I can tell from your reply that customer service and customer retention is not s priority in this restaurant.

... It looked delicious...BUT the only thing that was good was the garlic toast and the baked beans. The cole slaw tasted like it was pre bought and old. The brisket was mediocre at best. My chicken could have been cooked a bit longer, I'm curious as to how they prepare it. The waitress didn't even come to check on us once. We had to flag her down, and there was no one else in the restaurant? Maybe it was an "off night" but I won't waste money to go back and give it another try.

Honestly, its not bad food! I had the short ribs and although the meat itself wasnt flavorful, the sauce more than made up for it and it was fresh. I judge a BBQ joint by the quality of their sweet tea and this one was on point. Its obviously not the best BBQ you can get, but its the best within a 15 mile radius and the prices cant be beat.

  • Andy R.

This place is terrible... the food seems as though it was taken from a TV Dinner... We spoke to management and left without taking a 2nd bite after we were served our food. How this place is still open is beyond me. Looking back, I wish I'd taken a picture of the dish as an example, but that was the last thing on my mind... Someone mentioned the corn nuggets are decent... those are frozen bought from the restaurant store..and the mashed potatoes are definitely from a box. We had the son as our waiter at it was clear he did not want to be there, 0 energy/charisma and was also pushing the corn nuggets.

The best! We strayed to Shorty's and had the fattiest baby back ribs ever. This is by far the best rib restaurant. Clean great atmosphere professional. Love all the sides and food is always fresh. Corn nuggets ... love them. Baked beans kick butt.

I don't have a woody for Woody's. The only thing cool about Woody's is the name, kind of. A mediocre BBQ joint on it's best day.The portions were way under any real decent BBQ place would give. I ordered the trio and it consisted of 1 slice of brisket a about 4 spoonfuls of pulled pork and a sausage no bigger than a hotdog. For the price you pay there are other BBQ joints that blow Woody's away. This is not real BBQ people, just another crappy franchise with name BBQ in it. Don't waste your time. Didn't deserve one star.

This place is a mess. Disgusting brisket. Definitely wasn't smoked for hours but was boiled however. Then to have the manager argue the fact. They have the gull to charge $13.99 for 2 1/2 slices of boiled meat and less than a handful of fries. Wrong drink orders twice, no server to be found. The older woman who I presume is the manager needs to have some customer service training and to stay off the dining room floor. There were only two of us and the other parties that came after us finished their food. The plate looked like a bad plate of food from a public school. This place is sad and has nothing on Shorty's Bbq.

The beans taste like they came out of a can. The thing I liked the most was the toast. Also, service is slow.

I don't mind giving this place a star because our waitress was nice. But other than that food is mediocre at best!! It is not okay to serve instant mash potatoes! Baked beans... I dunno if you can even call them that and creamy cole slaw is anything but creamy. I'm not even going to talk about the brisket, the short ribs or the baby back ribs because honestly it gives BBQ places a bad name.. And FYI I'm not part of the competition... I'm just looking for a good BBQ place by my area.

came here with coworker and our hubbys for the family feast coupon we had. i tried to the chicken (dry) , spare rib (flavorless) and pork lion (cold). it came with corn on the cob, baked beans, coleslaw, garlic toast. All entrees were not really worth coming back for sides were okay. we ordered the bread pudding for dessert it was also dry and okay. Service was great and place was clean and in order they have tvs which is good also.

Im giving this place one star only cause zero is not an option. We've been here a couple of times the RIBS ARE AMAZING,but the service has sucked since they've opened and even worse today. The owner is nice and has her mom working with the waitress. Wings are good too. But they can't seem to get it together. I really don't know how there still in business.

For me Woodys is the only bbq place near me. I didnt have very high expectations so i wasn't really disappointed. They aren't very giving on the portions so don't expect your typical large portion BBQ. the Boyfriend is on a protein only kick so going out is sometimes a challenge then i though hmm where can i get just meat like at a bbq place... ahhh there is Woody's by the house and since we needed to do some shopping across the street we said why not. We weren't crazy hungry so we spilt the meat combo which had 2 oz servings of almost all the meats with 2 sides. They did have a feast meal for 2 which came with a little more but had 85% sides with only a little more meat so we opted out. Their sauces are missing something.. like each other. I made a mix of the spicy sweet and mustard to get a sauce i actually like. The meat was good tender and moist so i couldn't complain. Their country vegetables that night was okra and tomatoes which i enjoyed, along with their coleslaw. Both do not seem made on premises but I'm only assuming. Plates come with garlic bread which is a piece of toast with some yellow sauce on it that taste like garlic and butter. Wish they had some rolls or cornbread instead. Long story short version: go in with low expectations, and you wont be upset when you leave. Decent food, ok service.

Who doesn't love barbecue? Since this place is only a stones throw away and we had a Clipper magazine coupon for $10 off, decided to give it a try despite the negative reviews. Original, we tried to order take out, but the girl taking orders over the phone seemed distracted and didn't really help with suggestions. We got disconnected. So, we ate in. Waitress was very good, friendly, and quick. The table was missing utensils..no big deal. Atmosphere and ambiance was what you'd expect from a small family restaurant, maybe a little frantic because they were busy or new. Okay...okay...how about the food? The food came out relatively quick. We had the super sampler appetizer. It consisted of fried onion rings, corn fritters(?), fried squash, and mozzarella sticks w/tomato sauce and ranch sauce. The fries corn things were tasty. The rest was run-of-the mill and basic. Nothing to write home about. Then the ribs came out. They were pretty thin and the sauce was just alright. Again, nothing to write home about. The next time I want ribs, I'll probably go to Bangkok Bangkok for their London Bridge pork ribs or Smoked't. I may go back and try Woody's Texas Beef brisket....maybe...maybe not... update...son got sick...maybe it was the food.....gonna pass on Woodys BBQ.

Came when they first opened and I wasn't too impressed, however it's been about a year and today I was craving bbq and decided to try them out again. I was completely blown away about how much this place had improved, very attentative and very friendly staff, they now have a bunch of TVs so I was able to watch the heat game on a bunch of flat screen TVs. I went with the spare ribs today, very flavorful, our waitress gave us a suggestion of trying them with their special Dallas sauce and they were just perfect! Ill definitely be back. Thank you Maria for the excellent service I definitely felt like I was at home here!

If I could give this place no stars I would. I cannot remember the last time I actually paid for such a bad meal. Went there for lunch with three other coworkers. I got the combo platter. Pulled pork, pulled chicken with beans and fries..to drink a diet coke. I knew I was in trouble when they brought the coke and it tasted funny as though the machine was not calibrated properly. It was all down hill from there. My platter came. The pulled pork was not "pulled" at all it was. it was dry shredded bits of meat. the "pulled" chicken was worse. It looked like and tasted like it came out of a can. It was mushy and the taste was weird. It reminded me of cat food. Two of my coworkers had the Philly "pulled" pork with hat appears to be nuclear orange cheese whiz. The garlic toast had no garlic...not toasted. It was a slice of white bread with yellow spread in the middle of it. The beans were not that bad and nice pieces of pork in it. the BBQ sauces were just alright. I told the waiter how awful the food was and no one bothered to come out and talk to us or apologize. The "BBQ" must come in precooked from Woodys headquarters and heated up there because I do not see where they would smoke anything on the premises...no smokey smell as you walk up to the place and except for the pile of wood that greets you not BBQ smell inside either...

Our family decided on going to Woody's over the weekend. We first went on Saturday. My husband had a sampler, which he enjoyed immensely. I had the baby back ribs with sweet potato fries and baked beans. Our daughters had the Mac & Cheese and the Chicken strips with fries. How delicious! That wasn't all....we had the amazing Oreo pie desert and the bread pudding. It was all so so tasty. We were very pleased! That wasn't enough, so we went again on Sunday. I had to have the same thing, however, I had the half portion of baby back ribs with the pulled pork (as recommended by our server). The pulled pork was so delicious that I had it all before I dug into my baby back ribs. My husband ordered BBQ Breast of Chicken with baked sweet potato and he didn't even share.....that good! We truly love this place and I am so glad they are so close to home too. The staff is great and very friendly. The restaurant is kept extremely clean and honestly can't complain about not being tended to. I can't say that I agree with some of the posts on here. I can honestly tell you that my husband is a high protein eater (all the time) and the portion was good for him. He actually left some food both times. Additionally, the prices are great and I will definitely be going back for more.......real soon!!

I had the pork sampler and the ribs and the sausage were undercooked. The rest of the pork items did not have any flavor. Not worth the price. Sonny's barbecue is better and worth the drive to Florida City. I rather go to Sonny's or Shorty's any day.

Updating my review based on the last time I was here... The servers are sweet. I used to come here a lot, but I couldn't help but notice the quality wasn't improving and it wasn't "new" anymore. No excuses. Improvement points: Speed up service. It is way too slow for no one barely being in the restaurant. Please guys, work on this! Work on the cooks or hire new ones!! Quality of meat is a no no. The ribs are skinny. Not enough meat on the bones for the price. And the chicken is just meh. Not great quality. Don't sacrifice quality. EVER. The corn nuggets are AMAZING. I love them. It got to a point where that's all I went for. Too bad :( I had high hopes for a good BBQ joint nearby. But we stick to Shorty's now.

I love good bar b que. :) SO I was in the area and saw Woody's and since I was having a dinner party that night I decided to check it out. I walked in around lunch time and there was not one person in their at 1pm. I told the manager I was thinking of bringing around 12 people here this evening and wanted to get a look at the menu. I saw they had brisket and asked if I could try a small sample of it. LOL she said no I would half to buy a half a pound if I wanted to try the brisket. I gave her a chance to correct this mistake and she doubled down even after I pointed out there was no one in the restaurant. My friend and I were shocked standing their in dress clothes wondering the logic. Alas we left with a laugh and took our party of what ended up being 16 away from this local spot and dined in the Merrick park area. I never tasted the food *shrugs* but as a chef I know just how easy it is to provide a sample of Brisket. Sad but the Miami BBQ scene is lacking.

I'll give you a little tip: Don't eat here. Save your gas. Curiosity got to me since I was craving BBQ. Also I didn't want to drive all the way to Shorty's. That was a mistake. Food was not tasty. This is not how BBQ is supposed to be! The mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a box, the beans were horrible, and the coleslaw had no taste. We had the Texas brisket, and it was old, salty, and tasted reheated. The garlic bread from school tasted better than the ones here. Two positives though. The iced tea was decent. And I have to say, even with the mediocre food, the waitress was very helpful and very nice!

Not my kind of BBQ place, it seems Miami has yet to find good BBQ. The only thing I found good here were the corn nuggets.

    (2)
  • Michael A.

It's ok. Food is definitely reheated but in their defense I think it's because it's never really busy in there so they have no choice. Portions are very small

This place brings shame to BBQ. If I could I'd rate it 0 Stars. I ordered the brisket and was cold, tasteless, and covered in fat. Do yourself a favor and drive just a couple of minutes east to Flannigan's.

First time being here and the experience is awesome! I loved how they give you honest suggestion when you ask and the food overall is amazing ! I had the baby back ribs with their smoking hot sauce ,baked beans, sweet potato, and finished it off with their sweet tea . After this I new a pillow and done for the day . Will come back again.

Having lived in the South (the REAL South), I've become a BBQ snob. I must say that I went to the Woody's in Gainesville and it wasn't bad but they didn't have a chance with all the other GREAT BBQ joints in the area. The one here in Miami is horrible! The pulled pork is like that canned Lloyd's pork you get at the grocery. Besides the bad food, I wanted to hit the waiter. I ordered baked beans as a side and he brought black beans, then proceeded to tell me that black beans are baked and that's what I ordered. I mentioned earlier that I'm a BBQ snob, sooo I proceeded to rip into him. "First off, only in Miami would they serve black beans at a BBQ restaurant. 2ndly, I ordered baked beans and I don't care for your teenager attitude.". Anyhow, this place will go out of business, it's just a matter of time.

Figured I'd give it a try and glad I did. Had the half rib, pulled pork combo with beans and slaw,, definitely filled my BBQ craving. The lone onion ring they garnished the plate with was a nice touch.

I assumed the Cesar salad would have been the normal size of the tossed salad pictured in front of menus with the full rack of baby backs and yes it was the size of the beans plate

I don't like writing reviews unless I go to a place more than once. The service is extremely slow when there was literally hardly no one in the restaurant. I saw the waiters all talking and not paying attention to the customers. I had to literally get up twice to ask for things in which I would get it after a long time (may i remind you that there is hardly no customers). The food, to my friend and I, wasn't great for the price either. I rather go to chillies and spend less money. I really wish it was a better place because its next to my house. It has so much potential! Unless the entire staff changes their ways I will not be going back.

So we went here on a whim after we attempted to go to Hurricane Bar n Grill but the kitchen "wasn't working" as the lady put it. lol First things first the staff was very pleasant and friendly. That's where the enjoyment ends. For appetizers chicken wings, corn nuggets, sweet potato fries. For the main meals we had the "Sloppy Woody" and the "Taste of Woody", 2 of each. Here's the breakdown. APPETIZERS 1. Chicken Wings: Were extremely small and very dried out. Almost no meat on them. 2. Corn Nuggets: Were good but could have been a little larger with a nice powder sugar dusting over them. 3. Sweet Potato Fries: Were thin and slightly dry. Portion was also small for the price. MAIN MEALS 1. Sloppy Woody: Looked more like a baby diarrhea. Seriously wish I had gotten a picture of it. It was orange in color, cold and very bland. In fact almost everything we ate was bland. 2. Taste Of Woody: This was a mess. First off for $13.99 I expected much more food. It was a sorry portion and everything was dried out and... you guessed it... BLAND. In fact so dried out you had to drench it in their pathetic excuses for BBQ sauce to even swallow it. Sides: 1. Baked Potato/Sweet Baked Potato: One of each. About the size of a 8 year olds fist they weren't satisfying at all. Although they were cooked properly they just didn't cut it. You also were served "Country crock" butter in a single serve package with a plastic single server tube of sour cream. With the sweet potato you get "Country Crock Cinnamon Whipped Butter" that in itself is bad enough, a truly horrible butter, but have you ever tried to melt whipped butter into a baked sweet potato? It's doesn't happen! For the price give me some fresh melted butter with cinnamon sugar sprinkled into the potato and some sour cream that doesn't come out of a tube. 2. Coleslaw: Bland and dry. No flavor. 3. Mac n Cheese: Was just ok. 4. BBQ Beans: They were actually really good. BBQ sauces: Not going into details here but they all sucked. Southern sweet was the most bearable. Desserts 1. Bread Pudding Ala-mode: The portion was good sized and with the ice cream on top it was pretty good. Very filling though so make sure you've got room. Only down side is the $2 up charge for a desert that should come with ice cream automatically. I can see a $1 but $2 for a 1 ounce scoop of ice cream? 2. Banana Pudding: Definitely instant pudding. and the vanilla wafers were crunchy they're suppose to be part of the pudding and soft. Not impressed. 3. Tres Leches: Was curdled. Need I say more? When the woman serving us told us about how here mother made the desserts in the beginning of the night, we should ran out the door. Instead we stayed and paid $87 for lousy food and 4 sodas for 4 people after tip it was over $100. I will not return here, even if the women/owner that served us was extremely nice.

The pulled pork was f'amzing! So tender, so juicy; the way it should be. The corn nugget appetizer was really good too. The staff was really friendly. Though the waitress was borderline intrusive, coming by every few seconds. She was very nice, so I'll forgive her. The place was very in theme, almost a parody of itself. I'm not sure if that's the point or if they went overboard. Bottom line, the food is great.

Gave this place another run 2nite to have a bite to eat with the family and watch the Heat game. I must say that I disagree with some of the other reviewers that complain about the portion size or having high expectations. As for portions, For a family of 4 I ordered a family feast for 2 and a full rack baby back dinner. We had more than enough food and even left some beans, fries and a 1/4 chicken. The food is flavorful and the sauces are on the table for you to "flavor" the food as you like. On expectations, its a bbq place, not a fancy steak house! Go in expecting a lot of napkins and a finger licking meal. Bottom line, good food, great service and a just the kind of place that West Kendall needs.

A few friends and I decided to try this place out the other day. The appetizers came out promptly and were all very good. My wife and I shared the sampler and were very satisfied. The fried squash is great. Unfortunately after that it all went downhill. Fast. Or should I say slowly. Our group arrived at around 1:45 and were not served the first plate until about 3:30. Needless to say the food was cold. Our server had no idea who ordered what. The plates were incomplete. I never got my sides. At all. Even after asking about them multiple times. They ran out of items we ordered. One of the kids was served raw pink chicken fingers. My kid got a cold burger with an even colder stale piece of American cheese on it. I had the ribs. Although cold the ribs were somewhat tasty. Do not order the fried corn on the cob its gross! Best described as greasy waxy greasy corn. The service was awful. The bills were all messed up. The waiters never took our appetizer plates off our tables. I would say it's best to let this place work itself out for a year and learn from their mistakes. Hopefully it'll be around in a year so we can give it another try. First impression was very negative. We ended up leaving at around 5:00. 3 hours of my life I'll never get back. The sad part is the place has potential.

If you like terrible service and cold food, this is the place for you. Living in West Kendall, my family and I were very excited to take this new restaurant for a test drive...what a waste of time and money. The chicken looked under cooked and was absolutely flavorless. The bbq ribs hardly had any meat on them, but it was hard to tell if they were ribs or meatsicles. To add insult to injury, when we brought all of this to the managers attention, they not only refused to comp any of the meal, but proceeded to point out that we had "eaten most of the food". Do yourselves a favor folks, if you are in the West Kendall area and hankering some BBQ, take the extra 20 minutes and drive to Shorty's.

Why do I have to give it 1 star? I rate this 0 stars. I never give reviews but I should, is my duty as a citizen. I have been waiting for this to open and was so happy to check it out but should've check here first. No problem w raw chicken but food was plain amd mothing special. Do yourselves a favor and dont come here, unless curiosity bites your dust. 1st what BBQ place has no lemonade? Seriously? Their excuse, they ran out. Ok let me tell you the owners are Colombian and maybe they had money to open a franchise but unfortunatelly no restaurant/hospitality experience. The lady owner was walking around the entire time and she had no eye contact w us because she did not care about anything going wrong in our table. Ok 2nd, OMG so as you sit in the booth there is the pictures of the ribs and the crinckle cut fries that looks just like shortys, WRONG!!! The fries are not crinckle cut but regular wrong fried fries(see the pictures I added)... They were fried in a oil that was not hot enough, it was the worst fries ever. Ribs were mediocre, you couldnt eat the top because it was all fat. The beans were weird, not too sweet wich I like my baked beans on the sweeter side. 3rd. We ordered a hot dog for our kids, the dam hot dog came fried? The actual meat was fried. Ok not healthy, then they said they are willing to grilled it but that we couldnt order a burger instead, so you take the hot dog or you have no other option, because that dog was not beef, it was white/ pink in color? Nasty. Ok so to top everything off we ordered bread pudding, but got instead a million dry raisins with a dry piece of cinnamon bread(I postef pictures). It tasted only like cinnamon. I really dont give this restaurant 1 year, I feel bad because we need this in the area but you can tell the owners dont care. We complaint like 4 times and not once they or a manager came to the table to see what was going on, the owner walked next to us around 17 times without aknowleding us, and at the end I called the owner over. Just when we thought the experience was bad, the server kept the debit card and only brought us the receipts. So to sum this up, worst ribs, baked beans, cole slaw... Wait I forgot about the corn LOL!! is what I said when we got it!! It was fried so we requested ours not fried but when we bite into it pure oil came out and the first corn I eat in my life that has 0 sweetness and flavor to it. Sorry Woodys that I am giving you an bad honest review but I tried for you to make it better but instead continued to dissapoint. NO small Kid friendly, is all botths and high tables plus kids meals are very lame with french fries. Hope they can improve but unfortunately there is too many things to improve and you need owners that will take action, only time will tell.

Went in for lunch and the place was empty, that should've been a sign. Ordered the pulled pork which was decent. Not very hot. In fact, all of the sides at our table were cold. The mashed potatos were almost ice cold. Beans were cold and not very good. I'm not sure why the sides would be cold when I heard the obvious beeping of a microwave in the kitchen area and the food took awhile to get to us. The woman who was working the kitchen kept giving our table (the only occupied table in the place) glaring looks. She should spend more time attending the kitchen duties and less time glaring at customers. The waiter was nice.

So-so food, served very slowly, with an attitude. We waited forever for our dinner to arrive, and when it did there were missing items. The waiter informed us they were out of these items. After we complained, the missing items miraculously appeared. The food itself was only fair which, combined with the lack of service and combative attitude of some of the staff, made for an unhappy dining experience. A manager promised that our next visit would be happier, but we expressed our doubt that there will be a second visit. The wait was too much for the folks at the next table. They left without eating.

Being a new BBQ place on the block, we decided to give it try. Was greeted with a friendly staff. Didn't have to wait long to be seated. They have some nice TVs. They have a nice menu and interesting plates. Portions are reasonable nothing outrageous. The different bbq sauces placed on the tables are a nice touch. Owner/Manager came around to greet customers. overall, was good.

It seems most of us are in agreement that this is not a good place to get bbq. Party of 3. The service was good nothing to brag about or complain about. Ordered corn nuggets (delicious) and cheese sticks... Then the meal came order1. pulled pork did not look like pulled pork soaked in bbq sauce baked potato good corn on the cob grilled good order2. chicken and ribs combo both okay or on the eh side baked beans were very sweet, runny, and cold order3. kids chicken tenders stay away from. One plus is the bar, and you might need a few drinks to eat here. So if you like less then mediocre bbq and nobody I know in this great country does well you might want to check this place out. Personally I will go to Sonny's BBQ or Shorty's BBQ those 2 places are phenomenal great food, great service, and my favorite sweet tea.

Hubby and I wanted to grab a quick lunch, and I suggested coming here. Having lived in Texas for almost 13 years, and married to a Texan, I am a BBQ snob.We have only tried one other BBQ place in the seven months we've been in Miami, and it was God awful (stay away from The Pitt!). While we were waiting for our food, I decided to check Yelp for reviews and let me tell you, I was really scared. I was going to suggest we leave based on the reviews, but we were already there so we stayed. I am happy to say we were surprised! We ordered the Classic BBQ. He got the beef with crinkle cut fries and baked beans, and I ordered the pulled pork with coleslaw and sweet baked potato. Everything was really tasty and hot. Christian was our waiter and was not only friendly but very accomodating. I meant to order pulled look but got sliced instead. Christian changed my order without a problem. The meat s were flavorful and so were the sides. The fries were crispy, the beans were sweet but not too sweet, the coleslaw and sweet potato were both really, really good. The restaurant smelled like a BBQ restaurant should, smoky and yummy, and it's nicely decorated (the flowers at the bar do have to go!) Someone posted that the restaurant is like Denny's but with signs everywhere. Let me tell you, most BBQ places are pretty rustic and lots of BBQ places have signs all over the place. We would definitely come back again! The yelpers who had bad experiences should give it another chance. I read all the reviews posted and it looks like they have made some changes since it opened. If you ever visit Texas, check out Sonny Bryan's, Dickie's, Spring Creek BBQ, Baker's. And if you are ever in Memphis, go to Corky's! We love SB, but in our opinion, Corky's the best BBQ place ever! Bye y'all!

It's a Friday night and my husband and I couldn't decide what to do for dinner. I remembered passing this place the previous week. When I checked reviews on yelp, the establishment had a one star rating. However, the reviews were mixed so we decided to give the place a try. We were greeted by a friendly young man who promptly sat us. Immediately, our server, Phillip, showed up and introduced himself with a nice smile. He was quick to explain the menu and offer suggestions. We ordered baby back ribs, Memphis rubbed ribs and a pork sampler. The meat was fall-off-the-bone delicious, perfectly paired with a sweet potato and baked beans. We are glad we stopped in, and we will definitely return.

Really disappointed in the spare (St. Louis style) ribs. Barely any rub or sauce as cooked and served meant no flavor or crust. It's like they forgot the recipe for good ribs.

We had the family special for takeout, I must say the ribs and the chicken were good, their brisket was delicious , their fried corn was wonderful, and the coleslaw and beans were so yummy! It was a great deal too, you get all that plus garlic bread for a reasonable price. Great place to have in West Kendall!

The food and service are way beyond horrible! We made the mistake of eating there tonight and were verrrry disappointed! It took over 40 minutes to get two sandwiches and the place wasn't even busy, also the waitress never even came by to tell us what was taking so long to get our order. My BBQ beef sandwich had 1 slice of beef and 2 very small slivers of beef on top of it. My son had their phily pork sandwich with peppers and onions, it had very little meat on it, a couple of pieces of onion and even fewer pieces of green pepper and the cheese was more like cheese wiz than melted cheese. The fries with both sandwiches were way over done. WE WILL NOT EVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN!!!!!

So....we have been here many times, mostly because it's close to our house and is a great quick palce to grab a sandwhich and beer. Servers are always so friendly. We just got take out, two Southwest Chicken salads. We waited 30 minutes for our salads to be ready and there were maybe 3 tables full at the place. When we asked what was going on the female owner rudely replied, "That's how long it takes" and walked away. We got home and got one salad with lettuce and chicken (that 's it!!) and the other one with about 3 items tossed in. NOT what we ordered or what the picture showed. We called nicely to explain and ask for the correct salads another time and her response was that "they were busy". NO apology, NO customer service of any sort. We contacted corporate office because after being treated like that after having been here so many times, this is not the place I thought it was. Sorry but there are too many great places around Kendall that know what it means to keep customers happy and coming back.
