Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Was sitting at the bar with a friend, I was looking at the drink menu and chose a particular drink off the menu that featured svedka vodka. The bartender proceeded to make the drink but with some off brand McCormick vodka. Which is about 12 bucks for a handle at total wine (the kind that's in a plastic bottle.) I would have said something right then and there but my friend was flirting with the bartender and I didn't want to embarrass him. Villagio needs to remove svedka off their menu or stop committing fraud. It makes your establishment look cheap

My favorite italian restaurant. I have been going to this restaurant for over 8 years now. Alex is was always my service Unfortunelty he is no longer there and has been promoted to NY. This is authentic italian food because not many have Gnocchi on the menu. Their appetizer is delish! On our most recent visit we were services by a new waiter who began as a bus boy, who had a great personality and was quiet pleasant. The place gets busy but always remains clean and up to par. Always a happy dinner.

Service was excellent !!! A++ they bring you when u sit down bruschetta , which are delicious ! Had the steak salad with dressing on the side ! It was amazing! The salad is a big portion , shared it between two. For entree I had the shrimp scampi, did not like it, the white sauce was dry. For dessert had the chocolate soufflé and it was to die for ! Would def recommend

Villagio is always a go-to date night spot for my boyfriend and I. The ambiance is lovely, the service is always incredibly fast. Our dinners are on the table about 10 minutes after ordering (if that!). The free bruschetta they serve is delicious. We never have to ask for our waters to be refilled, they are always on that. And most importantly, the food is incredibly delicious! You get a very good portion for the price you pay, we always have some to take home. All in all, Villagio is never a let-down!

Absolutely love it. The wait staff is very friendly. The food never disappoints me. Woody the bartender is the best and actually became really good friends with him. His drinks are beyond amazing. I used to go in more than twice a week because I was that addicted but with my new work schedule, I barely have time.

From the service to the food this place is top notch. You know it's a well run establishment when the GM is working as hard as the servers and the bus boys to make sure every detail of your experience is perfect.

Our server Alberto was awesome, on top of his game. Food was delish. We had chix parm, the sea bass, and chix Marsala

Wow...this place was super busy. I barely was able to get a spot at the bar. The service was pretty good for a place that was beyond busy. I went very simple...spaghetti and meatballs. It was good, no wow factor but satisfied my Italian craving. The people next to me had some dishes that looked really good so I'm looking to back and get some of the other items off the menu. To me, a good Italian place is known for their bread (I know...sounds weird). This place has good bread :)

I LOVE their agnolotti del magnifico. My best friend also loved it. Also, their Happy Hour menu is pretty good with reasonable prices. Love their focaccia with tomato and basil. Sometimes the service is great, but one time the service was rather poor. When I went for lunch, the food tasted great, but when I went for dinner, the food was bland. So time of day may be a factor to consider in terms of food quality; the food was bland one night that I went with my family, but at the time the restaurant was extremely full. Still, though, pack or not, the food quality should not suffer.

There is so much competition with Italian restaurants that to be special and get repeat customers, you had to stand out. Unfortunately this place doesn't really do that for me. The staff was super nice and the restaurant was clean but the food was just ok. Stop in and try it. Maybe the food will make a better impression on you and you can add some stars.

The bruschetta to start off with us great, the service has always been great, and the lentil soup is amazing!!! Now if only the Villagio in Merrick Park could follow their lead

i LOVE villagio. service was superb. my husband was feeding our son so he didn't eat his food right away; our waiter offered to heat up his food once he finished feeding the baby which i thought was very nice. the complimentary bruschetta they give is awesome! they lose one star because the meatballs in the spaghetti weren't good.

The food is good. It's not "mama mia super delicious home made pasta decadence" but it's definitely tasty and the portions are nice. I especially like that I never have to wait to get seated. They have plenty of servers and tables. The staff is friendly and the food is good. If pasta didn't make me fat I'd probably eat here once a week because it's easy, delicious, and I can get a good glass of wine with my dinner.

I really enjoyed this restaurant and felt very comfortable. It sits in Dadeland Mall and has one strong competitor worthy of consideration. The prices are very reasonable and surprisingly you can just get a pizza and beer with your friends. The venue appears high-end but is not priced high-end....so you should definitely feel comfortable budget wise. It is not a pretentious establishment not similar to some of the other restuarants in the upstairs area....yet you can have a nice romantic setting with first class service on table cloth tables also. When seated you promptly get a complimentary focaccia/tomatoe delight. They have a very nice (until 9pm) happy hour with great drink deals along with appetizer deals that offer good value too. So before even ordering my entree I was filling up fast....yeah!!! The lasagna was really great. Served hot-baked out of the oven with a huge portion size, plenty of meat, pasta, and cheese. Not salty...which is a common Italian food issue with places that pass off grocery store ingredients assembling such dishes...not so here...you can tell just by the taste. I would definite recommend this restaurant for all kinds of dining experiences. It has a nice bar, inside and outside seating areas, and family friendly. The venue is really over-the-top. The restrooms could use a long overdue updating....but us guys don't usually spend much time in there anyway. I was also surprised to see that they conveniently offer "to-go" service as well. As a few people came to pick-up orders phoned in at the bar. For someone to battle the traffic and parking for Dadeland Mall to pick-up at this restaurant really says volumes to me.....that's got to be a royal pain in the ass(excuse my language). Anyway, give this spot a try....you'll be pleasantly surprised and probably frequent the place thereafter. Enjoy !

I Have been meeting my staff and many clients for lunch for past 6 years.... and now the place has a new chef and clueless manager (Lady)... I ordered my typical Rissoto diMare and was very surprised by how small the serving was...so I asked the manager... and with a blanc and clueless face she said " it's enough for a kids meal"...well I am not a kid and I did not order it for a kid... and was charged an adult price... "the chef is new and that what you now get"...She then just walk away not even apologizing...I left angry and very hungry... good thing that Dadeland has many new restaurants and I will no longer take my business to Villagio. Prior to leaving..the real mamager arrived and completely understood the issue...apologized and made things very smooth...I am sure that moving forward..changes will occur to bring back Villagio the way it was..great, friendly with amazing customer service.

Had reservations - the restaurant was not full - and we had to wait for another 20 minutes for our table to be ready. Order a bottle of wine and our food. It came out fairly quickly. The food presentation was better at Olive Garden! We followed with an order of red wine. - it never appeared - I cancelled it given we were just about done. I had also ordered club soda with a lime - they brought me Sprite! Being diabetic, it was not appreciated! I ordered chicken piccata. It was awful - could have been made from a frozen dinner. My family ordered fettuccini which was dry. Had coffee after dinner - it must had been sitting in the pot for a while. Will never be going back!

EXCELLENT SERVICE! Waiters/ Waitresses are very attentive. My family and I love this place for the simple fact that it's a nice restaurant, has good food, great service and great prices! Today I had the Pollo alla Scarpariello. I was a bit disappointed with this particular dish. The description on the menu sounds better than it tastes. It's not terrible, just not my kind of dish. It's fried chicken covered in a sauce with potatoes and sausage and a pasta on the side. The potatoes were good though. However, this dish won't stop me from coming back. They do provide complimentary bread AND a pita with diced tomatoes, which I think is a nice gesture. It tastes good. A must try though is their Apple Pie...delish! This location is nice, but the one in Village of Merrick Park is so pretty!

Our party of 3 was seated immediately. The service was good. I got a shrimp pizza which was AMAZING and LOADED with shrimp. I think it was around $15 and was definitely a medium (leaning towards large) size. I wanted to eat the whole thing because it tasted so good but I couldn't! I reheated the pizza for breakfast and it was just as good as the night before. For dessert I had creme brûlée which was also amazing. I would definitely recommend and I would come back myself. The only reason it got 4s star was because it was so noisy!

I've gone here about 3 times, I love the food, especially the complimentary appetizer you get served. I do think its a bit expensive, and I've only had one or two really good servers who made the experience very good. I think for such a fancy looking restaurant they should have people with more experience. Just a thought... Nothing extremely amazing. I will go again and see what my next experience holds before adding one more star.

My boyfriend and I decided to have our pre-valentine's dinner at Villagio at Dadeland Mall since it was closer to where we lived than the one at Village of Merrick Park. My boyfriend came first to the restaurant than I did and he was told to sit at the table before someone else can took it. As I approach the table he was already served pita with salsa and bread. I wanted to order a white wine so I wanted to know if they had Moscato or Riesling but that is when I found out that they only serve some white wines by the glass. Therefore, when she gave me the list I ordered the Pinot Grigio. As the appetizer, we ordered the Mozzarella Milanese which consisted of mozzarella breaded, deep fried with a light tomato sauce on top. However, I had a hard time in deciding my entree between something with chicken or something with just pasta. i eventually ordered the Pennette Harry's Bar penne pasta garlic, oil and fresh spinach and a sprinkles parmigiana cheese and touch of tomato, sundried tomatoes minus the pinenuts. My boyfriend ordered the Pollo Milanese consisting of chicken breast lightly breaded served in a bed of house salad with fresh diced tomatoes, olive oil, lemon juice and balsamic vinegar. OK the service was great but our food was not like we were expecting. I believe the only good thing was our appetizer. I ready my entree wrong b/c I thought the type of pasta was linguini instead of Penne. My entree was good but nothing to write home about. It's just ok. I tried my boyfriend's entree and his chicken was bland and not lightly breaded. He was extremely disappointed. We were both extremely disappointed. The restaurant was definitely packed when we left and we had a sad thought that the people who were there did not know what eating good Italian food is. It is sad. However, we tried it but not going there again as we have experience better.

Our family's new favorite place. The food is delicious, the staff is really attentive and the bread/focaccia a pleasant surprise. I really recommend the chicken piccata. Definitely a place to return to often.

My family really enjoys dining at Villagio in Dadeland Mall. We discovered this restaurant years ago, while shopping, and have become regular customers. We were surprised that a mall could have such a gourmet-style restaurant. Their menu also has all you can ask for, from salads to lobster meals. The food and service are consistently excellent- whoever is managing this restaurant knows what they're doing. Everytime we walk into Villagio, someone is there to greet us with a smile, and we always get seated right away, even when they are busy. There is one gentleman who has served us there a number of times- Alex- he's great- making sure that you are satisfied with the food and the servide. We also appreciate the fact that you don't have to wait much for your food, event though it's cooked to order- and during your short wait, they immediately bring you fresh, warm bread and chopped tomato with garlic and pita as a free appetizer (a tasty bruschetta) You really do get your money's worth here. The servings are abundant. Most of the time, we take some of our food to go. Italian food is my favorite food- not only do I enjoy eating out but I cook it as well. Having said that, I can tell you that these people do not cut corners with the quality of the meats or ingrediants they use in their delicious recipes. All of the dishes we have tried here are mouth-watering- their salads, their pasta and meat dishes, and their desserts. Their sauces are the best. I can tell you that one of my favorite dishes is Spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce- which I have sampled in many Italian restaurants in Miami (I have lived here all my life). Also, we have really enjoyed their Spaghetti con Polpette(meatballs), Fusili al Telefono, Pennette Harry's Bar, Linguine Alla Scampi, their Meat Lasagna, their Pollo Piccata (chicken), and their Pollo Al Carboni (chicken).

Lunch service was lightning fast.... Food was good but not great, I have not had the desire to return and was not noteworthy enough for me to talk about. Its convient in the mall, faster time than Cheese Cake, better food than Cheese Cake but nothing that I would be willing to drive to if it were very far away. Lastly the Tiramisu shown in the picture did not match what was served. My 3 stars = Meh.. :|

The atmosphere and the friendly staff were the best I have ever experienced in Italian restaurants. HOWEVER, the food didn't taste good. The food was very salty and it didn't seem like Italian. I've tasted their tomatoes in their brushetta and it was very delicious but their spaghetti balognese lacked tomatoes completely. To be honest, when you're in Miami, don't go for anything that's not latin, cuban, haitian, or carribean or you'll be disappointed.

Ive gone to Villagios in Dadeland many times and have enjoyed it. This last time it was awful, we asked for the shrimp pizza, the best Ive had for a long time, but this one was a big disappointment, apparently they changed from putting whole shrimps in it to cutting them up and putting small tiny pieces of shrimp, the pizza was so overdone that it was burnt in some spots, the Veal Marsala lacked flavor and the pasta that came with it was mostly melted cheese with a few pasta pieces. I'll try this place again because maybe this was just a bad day, but I was really disappointed.

    (2)
  • Sandy R.

The service is good for Miami. I love the bruschetta and pita bread that they serve in addition to bread. But the food is only ok. The main courses need some work. Usually, there is too much cheese, too much salt, and not enough herbs or vegetables to lighten things up. The only thing I've been pleased with here is the pizza, and that's because it's pretty hard to make pizza unpalatable.

Spectacular service even with the newer managers. Been coming here for years. Great place to have a quick, not too fancy dinner with the fam. Flavorful meals and usually enough to take home with you. I've gotten countless free champagnes and cheese plates in the past which's a testament to management and how they're willing to ensure a great experience even if it costs a little extra for them. It is a chain though - so quality cant be spectacular enough (or pricy enough) to warrant a 5 star rating, but nonetheless great dinning experience that I would recommend for everyone.

Villagio... I once had an "OK" experience... only once (and that was TWO years ago), the rest of the time, they've been nothing short of SPECTACULAR. Since then I've been back 130 times. Not exaggerating. (If you're trying to do the math; sometimes its 3 times a week, that's how good it is) I can still remember my first meal here: Pumpkin Ravioli & Lasagna... delicious. If you want to try something healthy try a "INSALATA DI TONNO ROSSO" - Pan seared Tuna over mixed green salad. If you don't mind the carbs try Pasta; their Pomodoro sauce is great, their Bolognese Sauce is FANTASTIC, and you can have that over almost any type of pasta you want. Their portions are very filling... and very affordable. Not to worry, you can always pack it to go if it's too much food, and I recommend it because their desserts are AMAZING. If you've never had it, try a Panna cotta!! Also try an Apple turnover with vanilla ice-cream on top. Reward yourself and order both... They have a FULL BAR and I swear they make the best "OLD FASHION" drink I've ever had. If you don't believe me, order one and try it... The Service here is always professional. Never have I ever seen a server on their cell phone. They are always passing by to check up on your table throughout the meal. The general manager Santiago really runs a tight ship. If there is anything amiss at your table, let them know and they'll rectify it on the spot. So whether you're looking to celebrate a special occasion or just shopping around Dadeland mall this is my go to place for Italian food in Miami.

I absolutely love Villagio! It is a regular place my family goes to and I was so pleased that they introduced me to it. I think the food is amazing and the service is always great. Something special that they do is give you bruschetta to start out with instead of regular bread, which I think is fantastic since I love bruschetta. Every time I go I order the gnocchi and it never fails to be outstanding. The thing I always look forward to is dessert, and Villagio does not disappoint. I always order the apple strudel and it is delicious! I can't wait to be able to eat here again!

I don't know what a restaurant this good is doing attached to a mall. Very deceiving. It's white linen table cloth service, and very good Italian food. I can highly recommend the mushroom ravioli and the shrimp & goat cheese risotto. And their creme brulee is very good, done in a wide shallow oval dish as opposed to a deeper round dish. This is better, because it means more caramelized sugar per bite. Yum.

Good food, decent service. Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed. Only had to wait 15 minutes for a table, so that wasn't so bad. Service was pretty quick after being seated, but you could tell the wait staff was working over time trying to get tables turned. I had the prosciutto panini, and it was pretty good. Would definitely go back.

I've come here twice. The first time was on Valantines day 2010.. My boyfriend and I had dinner here after running a late errand on our way to a different restaurant where we had a reservation. (We were really hungry and this place didnt have too much of a line so we decided to have dinner here instead) Dinner was great, the Bruschetta was delicious, and the staff was wonderful. Although I suppose my first impression of the place may have been a little scued due to the overwhelming amount of romance in the air that night. lol The prices are reasonable and the valet didnt take too long to grab our car after we were ready to leave. The second time around was last night.. My fiance and I took my parents out to dinner. As usual the Bruschetta was delightful and the service was efficient as I remembered it. This would all take a turn for the worse soon after our order was taken. My mom's order came wrong.. and my fiance received a plate of undercooked chicken! Yep.. chicken... was pink inside. After he sent it back for some more cooking it didnt look any more cooked then the first time around. Needless to say he didnt eat it. The restaurant apologized and sent over a complementary tirimasu but I wont be coming back. I can totally understand that when you dish out so many meals it may be hard to carefully examine ALL of them.. but the place was half empty when we were there and... it was poultry! Come on. Sorry Villagio... That was my last time there.

Typically very good service and decent food for good a price. I like the salsa on toasted pita when you first sit down. A glass of red compliments this just right. We've sat in groups at the bar and shared dinners, and swapped chairs for that casual happy hour gathering, and sat a tables for a more sit down dinner. I like to add hot Italian sausage to my pasta. They are more than happy to make adjustments to your dish. Don't go shopping in the mall afterward though. You might spend a lot more than you would otherwise. It's best to do your shopping when you are not quite so happy yet...

This location is at the Dadeland Mall. The drinks and food are awesome. The free pita bread and tomatoes with balsamic & olive oil are great. Had a Panini and my wife had Chicken Picatta. Both plates were great. I highly recommend this palce.

Love this place! I love pasta, so when Villagio is an option, I always say yes please :) I've been to both locations, (Merrick park and Dadeland), and though the food is great at both, the service is definitely better in Merrick park. I would recommend anything on the menu, especially the traditional Italian dishes like lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs. The portions are large, so I would recommend either sharing a dish or asking for a half portion. Also, you MUST save room for dessert. Enough said :)

I'll be blunt. I don't like suburban, consumer centric, car oriented, mass produced, lowest common denominator culture. The reasons I don't like that environment kept running through my head as I sat at Villagio. The presentation of the familiar and comfortable while the presented goods are created with only the bottom line lowest cost and highest margin in mind. The facade. The "Disney" world. "Main Street USA." The $1 menu. To be completely honest, there ARE some places that fit this description that I don't mind. Cheesecake Factory, which I kept longing for as I stared at it across the street, uh, hall, actually manages to make tasty food. Villagio, does not. I kept glancing up at the HD TV which was running some Anderson Cooper show on CNN, close captioned. You know, not one of the topics had any real value. All of them of course were designed to illicit reaction, but nothing of substance. The free pita (aka bruschetta) appetizer? Looked and tasted like a pita bread from Publix covered with a simple tomato topping and then placed in the fridge for a while - just long enough to be kinda soggy and devoid of flavor. Even the free butter with the free bread was cheap; over salted. Think "on sale" butter from the discount supermarket from the bad part of town where you happen to stop. Ordered a $35 bottle of Italian wine and very pleased with the price. Actually, the wine didn't suck and at that price, it's hard to complain. Everything else was inexpensive as well. Most entrees are in the $12 - $20 range. I didn't even know you could get entrees that cheap anymore outside of a hidden away ethnic restaurant somewhere. I had the filet mignon, marinated (?) in wine sauce overnight with potatoes and veggies of the day (broccoli) for around $20. Really? $20? Wow. I also had the stracciatella soup which was comparable to gourmet canned soup; Wolfgang Puck or something. The whole dinner with wine and soup (and free dessert), for two, was only $90. (Still. Could have gone to the Cheesecake Factory) My friend had some vermicelli pasta dish with seafood (salmon, calamari, shrimp and mussels). Everything was bland. I can imagine the largest thing in the kitchen is the freezer - a place the filet had probably spent some time; though it was tender - hard not to make a corn fed filet tender. It reminded me a little of the meat from cans of Armour beef stew I used to eat when I was in college; not nearly as bad but it did bring back the memory. The potatoes were scalloped, over cooked and crispy from the edges of the pan from which they were undoubtedly scraped. The broccoli was over cooked. My friend's pasta was bland and the seafood, you guessed it, over cooked. I usually never put salt on my food. Well, almost never. The service was attentive but also lacked quality. Every item was auctioned off. Really? A 2-top in a restaurant with maybe 8 tables occupied and you can't figure out who gets what? Twice for the first course and three times during the second course, someone stopped by to ask us if they could take our plates before we were finished. Lots of people to serve us but none of them that really understood service. We were given a free tiramisu for the table because my friend is a regular here (sigh). What can I say? Sugar and processed cream, it can't be that bad. I'm sure there are empty tubs of Sysco brand imitation Cool-whip (an imitation of an imitation?) somewhere that are responsible for our dessert. Probably not on site. The weird thing - and cool I suppose - is that everyone here seemed to know the staff. Everyone was very friendly. The way the people behaved was reminiscent of regulars coming to a small, family restaurant. Everyone seemed very happy. The facade. I guess I didn't take my dose of soma today.

I've been a customer at this location for several years. The exceptional service and great food is what keeps us coming back 3-5 nights a week. The pasta fagioli is a must have, although my husband prefers the seafood soup. As far as salads, try the Tonno Rosso (if you like sesame seared tuna steak) or Mizticanza, they are both fresh and delicious! If you're in the mood for pasta, order the Spaghetti al Pomodoro or Pennette Harry's Bar (obviously, made with penne pasta...), if you don't like a heavy sauce, these are perfect! Their Bolognese is the BEST in Miami! The Risotto (all flavors) is excellent!! The chicken parm is a generous portion and tastes lighter than you'd expect. The pizza is also light and tasty. The tilapia (I like the Marechiaro and the Livornese) is fluffy and tasty and very good. Everything we've ordered is delicious, these are the dishes we order most. When it comes time for dessert, all of them are good. My son loves the apple dessert (it's NOT apple pie), my daughter likes the fruit sorbets, my husband and I like the Panna Cotta. It's all great! If Victor is at the bar, be sure to order a drink, he makes a PERFECT Old Fashioned. The prices are very reasonable, it can get a little noisy- but that's due to the customers, not the staff! Most of the servers are wonderful. The management is always keeping a vigilant eye on what goes on, so if you have an issue just wave one of them over, I'm sure they'll fix it. They really do want you to have a great experience.

I'm really torn over this review, I love Villagio at Merrick Park, why wouldn't this one be just as good?? The food was on par as it's always been when I've eaten here but the service was very lacking tonight. The dining room wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of staff running around they just couldn't keep their eyes on our table long enough to keep us satisfied. My Risotto with goat cheese and shrimp was great, it came out piping hot and was good to the last bite. I'll be eating here again because I love this place, I just hope next time the service will be its usual great self.

My parents eat here about twice a week. Santiago treats my parents like kings. They always give us free prosecco and dessert. The service is really great even if some of the wait staff is green. My absolute favorite is the fettuccine alfredo with chicken...the fettuccine seems homemade and the chicken is absolutely supple. YUM!

This is my second time coming to Villagio. The first was for a company holiday party and I was a little disappointed with the service from one of the waitresses. I decided that it left a bad taste in my mouth so I would come back for another chance. Although the service this time was exceptional I can't say the same for the food. It's not that it was bad I just think it lacked seasoning. We ordered the pizza with chicken and sundried tomatoes and the chicken was bland and dry. We also ordered the chicken piccata and for some reason it came with bow tie pasta and red sauce. I've never seen that combination so I gave it a try and unfortunately it does not go together as I had originally assumed. The chicken again was not seasoned well. While the prices are reasonable I think the next time I'm going to take my lunch hour at cheesecake factory.

I've been eating at this restaurant since it opened in Dadeland. I'm originally from NY and used to eating in Italian restaurants in Italian neighborhoods. The food at Villagio has consistently exceeded my expectations - everything is fresh, the pasta is always cooked perfectly and the food is, in my opinion, the best Italian meals I've had in Miami. Staff is friendly and accommodating. One of my favorite restaurants in Miami!

Villagio at Dadeland is my FAVORITE restaurant and that is a big deal considering I always nitpick. They have delicious food and a huge menu to choose from. While you wait for your food you get some bread and bruschetta. I almost always order their flattened, breaded veal and top it off with chocolate soufflé. I've never seen customer service like this. They are the most attentive and friendly people I've ever met. It has a family atmosphere and the staff actually remembers you. I can't say enough good things about Villagio!

Ordered pizza and lasagna. Pizza bland. Lasagna had cheap taco beef and bean filling and also bland. No tomato sauce. Cold plain bread served with meal. Avoid.

Better tasting Italian than most in the area and its pleasant enough to have bruschetta on the table without one having to ask for it. Last time i came, just about week or so ago, had been my first time in a very long time. Coming here for a lunch date surely beats the exhausting cheesecake factory, even though I'm seriously craving a medium kobe burger as I'm writing this. The waiters were very attentive, despite the place almost being at capacity. I know, Villagio at capacity? Anyway, as I was chomping on the bruschetta like a wildebeest, i ordered the Veal-stuffed Tortellini. At first the portion seemed decent, though short of cheesecake, but surprisingly enough, I was stuffed and had some leftovers! It was cooked to perfection despite a busy afternoon. For dessert, my companion for the day ordered the creme brulee, which did leave me unimpressed sadly. All in all, a great tasting and satisfying lunch, without the need of the cheesecake factory

Took a break from shopping in Dadeland Mall to have dinner here last night. The service was excellent. As soon as we sat down they brought us bruschetta and a basket of bread with butter. The waitress answered several questions I had about the menu and was very helpful. I decided on the veal in a brandy cream sauce. It was excellent and came with these great sliced potatoes and spinach, which was the veggie of the day. My friend had the linguini with shrimp and said it was very tasty. Her soda was kept full at all times, i think they filled her glass 3 or 4 times. I will definitely visit again and am looking forward to trying the pizza next time. The ONLY negative......the house wine (I had the Pinot Grigio)is horrible, skip it and order a beer or a mixed drink.

My review is very simple ! Great service, the waiters are amazing, the managers run smoothly this place ! The food is A+ ! I rather walk in here before going to Cheesecake Factory (I hate the service at cheesecake factory) ! I've been coming to this restaurant for the past 3 years, and the service has always been amazing ! Even in busy days my food comes out quickly !

We wanted to eat at The Cheesecake Factory and were starving and didn't want to wait the hour wait. So we walked across the way and even though Villagio's was packed and there was a wait, it was less than 15 minutes. This restaurant is located in Dadeland Mall right across from The Cheesecake Factory and thank goodness it's here because if I had to go to the food court, I'd rather go hungry. This is my 4th visit to this restaurant. Villagio is the name on the menu but the old name is still displayed at the entrance. The place looks the same and I think the menu is the same as well. Everything I've ordered here in the past has been excellent and the wait staff has always been super friendly. As soon as we sat, they delivered bread with butter and a platter of what looks kind of like pita slices, but which taste like un-topped pizza, with a mound of diced tomatoes with onion and basil. Very good and very filling (I asked for olive oil and vinegar, which I doused on the tomatoes to make them even yummier). I like that they bring this to you as soon as you sit down so you have something to munch on while you study the menu. Today I ordered the St. Tropez Salad and Calamari Zucchini appetizer. The salad was a total waste of money as I did not like any part of it. I thought the portion was very small and the quality of the ingredients was rather poor. Also, there were only 2 olives and 3 string beans, very little potato (maybe 3 small dices) and very little, poor quality tuna. This is the first time I ordered something in this place that I wasn't happy with. On a happy note, though, the calamari was very good and such a huge portion I couldn't finish it all. It came with a spicy tomato dipping sauce which was surprisingly hot (as in spicy) and tasty. The other in my party ordered the artichoke pizza (ehh, so-so), crab soup (super yummy) and chicken Caesar salad (next time I go I will get this because it was delicious and excellent amount for the money). As for the service; as I said before, stellar. As you walk in, all the wait staff you encounter say hello. And as you leave, all the wait staff you encounter say "Thank you for coming". Very impressive and it makes the fact that my salad was quite less than grand a bit less noticeable. There are only two wrinkles to this which is why I gave it 4 (really 3.5) and not 5 stars or 4.5 (or 3 wrinkles counting the sorry salad): When we first sat down and they brought over the pita/un-topped pizza platter, we started eating (actually pulled off a few pieces) and a few seconds later a waiter comes by and whisks away the platter and puts down a smaller version of the same thing. WTF? I hate to think that they gave this to someone else; apparently, we were supposed to get the little platter (we were only 3) but someone gave us the big one by accident. Well hell, we already started eating out of it and the waiter saw us and should have lived with the mistake and left the big platter; that was a bit unsettling. The other wrinkle is that we had a long wait for our food and two of us got our food before the third who had to wait another 10 minutes on the clock, while she watched us eat. In their defense, the place was really packed and perhaps they hadn't anticipated the volume of customers they would have that day when they created the work schedule for the week. So, I will give them a break here, because even so, our beverages were always covered (as my daughter said, the waitress had her water skills down pat). They also offered to pack up our leftovers and they did so very nicely and brought a box for the pizza and a big bag to put everything in. I will definitely return.

Has anyone ever given you more food than you paid for? No, not by portion size...but like if you were a starving college student returning home from out of state and mom was serving dinner.... You know how that goes...before you're done with one dish, she brings out another...and unexpectedly another..and another... Well at Villagio before I even scoped the decor, they brought out plates of salami..then plates of cheese...then olives...then bread with awesome chopped tomatoes. And this was all before I opened my menu!!! As I opened the menu, I definitely realized that I"m not in LA anymore. When was the last time you saw a filet for 15.99? Or a pasta dish for 9.99? Of course you can find these prices at a diner....but no, Villagio wasn't a diner...linen table clothes..waiters in clean bright orange ties. Me likey. I opted for a glass of Pinot (5.99)...i know what you're thinking...1 glass???? it was a working night...I wanted, but couldn't get wasted... pumpkin ravioli was my entree. Well how was it? Oh boy what a disappointment because I think they used canned pumpkin as opposed to fresh ones to stuff my ravioli...but I guess all those freebies are meant to deviate from the taste of the entrees...my associates all enjoyed their dishes...but I really don't trust their palate b/c they don't strike me as foodies. Well I judged that b/c of their poor table etiquettes! C'mon..wait for everyone to get their dish before you start eating....don't use your knife with your left....and for god sakes, please don't wear your napkin. Anyway, before we left, they brought EVEN MORE FREE FOOD! They brought us a slight flaked apple pie...that was delish. Soo....hospitality was AWESOME...I'm chinese and love free ANYTHING....although lacking in flavor, the Food Slut was pleased with the experience.

My mom and I were shopping in the mall and she had an urge for an alcoholic beverage. After seeing the enormous line (as always) at Cheesecake Factory at 3:30pm, we went across the way to this place and sat at the bar. The wait staff was super friendly. We ordered mojitos which were a tad bit too sweet but still yummy. They brought us delicious bread with butter and bruschetta with flatbreads. We weren't even completely finished with the bruschetta when the waiter brought us a fresh one, really nice! We shared the Four Seasons pizza. WOW! Real mozzarella cheese melting in our mouths, with perfect seasoning, I didn't have to add anything to it. For dessert we shared a cheesecake, which again was perfect, not too rich, a perfect ending. I'm surprised such a nice place is in Dadeland Mall!

The food was good, the service was good but the atmosphere is awful. This could be a great restaurant but the lights are turned up high at the bar and totally ruin any type of true Italian atmosphere. When you enter the restaurant, although decorative touches are there, it is all taken away with the bright lights and the loudness of the place. No soft music or softened lighting so I guess they are attempting to attract people with children. Not a place to make a romantic evening of it.

Pretty decent if I'm in the area and don't feel like waiting too long for the Cheesecake Factory. Besides that, there's nothing that would make a return to this place a MUST for me. Stopped by on a Friday night with a group of 6 and only had to wait 15 minutes, which I found to be good. They offered to sit us outside, which probably would have gotten us a shorter waiting time but we decided against it. When you sit down, they immediately bring you bread and butter and some focaccia with tomato. The bread was nothing to rave about but the focaccia was spectacular. Moving on, they brought us the menu, which was huge. I mean this as in both selection wise and size was. There was literally no room to put the menu down and look through it. A few minutes later, we al decided what we wanted and got calamari and heart of palm carpaccio as appetizers. The calamari was great and I can't really comment on the carpaccio too much, seeing as this was the first time I tried t. Moving on, the entrees came and I tried a bit of everything, but what I would recommend most is the fish entrees. This place does get extremely loud just like its next door neighbor and it also gets a bit crowded but the service was always good and I can't really complain about the prices. We did ask for some menu items that they did not have in the kitchen though which sort of sucked. They were very low on dessert selections (ran out of souffle and such) and when my dad asked for lamb shank they didn't have that either. So I wouldn't mind eating here again. But if I'm in the area, I would choose Cheesecake Factory 20 times over this place.

Update of my original review: This review is based on two types of service - regular restaurant dining and special events / catering. As far as regular dining goes, the food is mediocre and the service is slow, but friendly. The prices are a little high for the quality of food. The last time I was there, the meatballs tasted like they were microwaved leftovers. The kid's chicken fingers were thin and over-cooked/greasy. My husband loves their fettuccine Alfredo. I'm not big on Italian food (gasp) but I have friends who are, and they've noted that this place's food just doesn't taste as authentic as other places. I have hosted SEVERAL events here, and the service in those respects have always been impeccable. The pricing is VERY reasonable, and management is always on board with whatever ideas or changes I have as far as seating, menus, substitutions, and even decor. I don't recall them ever saying NO to anything. My guests always leave full and happy. I highly recommend them for baby showers, bridal showers, and similar events.

I came here to take advantage of their late happy hour times. It goes til nine. We ordered a Prosecco, and a Merrick Cosmo. Both drinks were girly and sweet and fruity. This was accompanied by a portobello pizza and chocolate souffle. The pizza was decent and perfect for two to share. In my mind the perfect thing to go with pizza, is chocolate (and beer, but that'd be at another restaurant). We ordered the chocolate souffle to get our fix; and it was like a molten lava cake, with warm gooey chocolate oozing from inside. Staff was very friendly, we were seated promptly outside. Our server was William A. and he was very attentive, checking in on us, and giving us suggestions. And everything came out in a timely manner. The only reason we came here was for the happy hour, but when we got our check, we saw that our drinks did not come out the happy hour prices. I guess because we got their at 8:30 pm and didn't finish up til after ten? I don't want to justify it, because I do not think it's right, if you order your drinks before the Happy Hour ends, they should be at Happy Hour prices; isn't that the point? Anyways, they ended up giving us dessert on the house. It was still a pricey place to eat for pizza and two drinks.

The food was decent but the service was deplorable. The waitress disappeared and she had problems with of the tables. If I were running this business, I would fire the server she could destroy my restaurant single-handedly. After waiting 20 minutes for our dessert, the manager finally came over to the table and offered us a replacement for dessert. When I inquired as to what happened to the apple pie, he told us that the oven i've been down for almost 20 minutes. So at the very least our server should've known. There are many other restaurants here pick one of them

Calamari perfectly crunchy! Bistecca Cipriani cooked to perfection juice and just the way I like it medium rare with a glass of cabernet Rodney strong from California. The manager Victor and the staff are totally awesome. I definitely recommend you to try this restaurant. One of the best. To finish off sambuca romana with chocolate fudge cake hmhm yummy.

If you want true authentic Italian pasta you obviously need to go to Italy. Non the less you can save the trip and find a good pasta bowl here on Miami . One of my favorite restaurants being I'l gabbiano, i'am spoiled by what the closest thing to authentic Italian is. I was at Dadeland doing some shopping and it was convenient to come in to Vilaggio for dinner. The restaurant it's nice, very little lighting but I just prefer it that way. I ordered the simple spaghetti with meat sauce. They served us complementary focaccia with tomatoes and basil and some brucceta. Theb portion are quite enough for two people, I was hungry and I couldn't finish off. The pasta was perfectly aldente. For me the sauce was meh, it needed more tomato sauce I didn't really quite taste the seasoning and it really didn't have much meat. But I was edible and satisfying. Our server came to the table twice, once to get the order and the last time to ask us if we liked the meal and hand us the check. Te gentleman providing is with water refills was more on top of us than our own water, if the service would have been a little more attentive the venue would have received one more star. I think I will come to eat here only if I'm in the area which barely ever happens or in a rush. Otherwise I'l Gabbiano is still my first choice followed by Trattoria Rosalia

Very disappointing that they are out of Stella, Amstel light, and Peroni. The excuse of bartender is that they can't get it from supplier. How hard is it to find those beers in Miami? Wow...

Villagio could of had a star more if my waitress wasn't such a ditsy, lazy butt. What's done is done and maybe next time I will be writing a better review about this place. We arrived and asked for a table for 6 and were seated within 10 minutes on a busy Saturday night - which was great since the wait at Earl's Kitchen was 2 hours. Our waitress came to the table, greeted us and asked if anybody wanted anything from the bar. Two of the people in my party ordered a bottle of wine. The busboy/ runner served us water. Waitress came back 15 minutes later to take our order and we hadn't even ordered our drinks so I told her that I would like a lemonade before we put in our appetizers. We ordered a fried zucchini and calamari plate - which was very delicious. I wish it would have brought more fried zucchini but I can't have anything. Also, to start, you get a bruschetta and pita like bread with your meal which is awesome! The waitress brought the appetizers so I reminded her about my lemonade. She gave me an excuse that they had to fix the machine so it would take a little bit. another 10 minutes passes and I still don't have my lemonade. I ask the runner/busboy to bring it to me and he does in a flash - at least he was always super attentive. The lemonade sucked and was super watered down and I finally received it about 25 minutes after i ordered it. We then received our dinner plates. I had a portabello pizza (which was huge and large enough to share), my husband ordered the ravioli di porcini (which was very tasty but the portion was a bit on the stingy side), and the other people in my party liked what they had ordered. We ordered two desserts to top off our dinner: a creme brulee and pistachio ice cream covered in hard chocolate. I was excited about the creme brulee because I am a huge fan, but it was a bit disappointing and left a weird aftertaste in my mouth. The pistachio ice cream was AMAZING!!! I will def. get this dessert the next time I go back. Overall a decent experience despite our terrible waitress. I am confident that if I go again and have a different server, I would enjoy it more.

The only thing Italian in this place is the name. The atmosphere is excellent and it is well designed. The staff and friendly helpful and efficient. The menu has a great variety of selections but that is where it ends. Here are the issueS: 1. The food came out way to fast 2. The salad came out at the exact same time as the entree ( a no-no) 3. The bread and bruschetta where subpar. You could tell the tomatoes were not fresh. 4. The same Bruschetta mixture was used on the sale (lazy and disgusting) 5. My Chicken Picatta was clearly frozen chicken with little to no taste 5. Staff forgot to bring the pasta that came with the entree ( I didn't even waste my time asking about it sine the overall food was substandard) Anyone who thinks this is good Italian food clearly has never eaten real Italian food. This was a first time and last time visit to this place. There are plenty of other GOOD Italian restaurants in the area. I would never recommend this placer to anyone.

This review is long overdue. I've been to this restaurant just once on a very special occasion. On November 17, 2013 my husband and I hosted our baby-shower for 70 guests at Villagio. We booked our date a few months in advance and from the moment I first reached out to them for information the management and support staff was nothing but helpful, pleasant and nothing short of amazing. On the day of my event the restaurant staff went above the call of duty to facilitate everything for us & our guests. The table setup was beautiful, the service was impeccable & according to all our guests and the continuos smiles on their faces the food was succulent. The bruschetta, sangria & our fixed menu was a hit. Thanks to the staff at Villagio, the baby-shower went far beyond my expectations. I will visit them again & introduce them to Captain Lucas. To the Villagio restaurant, thank you so much for all you did from the Del Castillo family.

I have been coming here for a while. Maybe once I was disappointed but the probability is so low due to the numerous of times I come to eat here. First the quality of the food is superb, even if they changed the calamari (it doesn't taste the same.... Frozen imitation probably), every pasta I have ever tried has never tasted bland or bad it's perfect! The service is phenomenal and the prices are incredible. It's amazing that the Cheesecake Factory is always full Nd with a waiting list and here there isn't ..... The food is better quality, faster and more personable service here...better sans the cheesecake.

This place was an outstanding way to end our day of shopping at Dadeland. They take reservations, which is the first plus. To begin they serve bread with bruschetta with toasted flat bread along with a basket of bread. The majito was great and arrived quickly. The staff is friendly and attentive and took our orders promptly. The food was great and arrived in just a few minutes. I had the clams and seafood over linguine which was superb. For a restaurant located in the Dadeland mall, you might expect it to be overcrowded and noisy. No so! The dining atmosphere was great. Quite, not rushed, very nice. I am adding this to my list of favorite restaurants!

I really like this restaurant. I frequently go out to dinner and no place is more consistent than Villagio. Food is exceptional and service is exceptional. Bruchetta comes as a free appetizer and its darn good as well as a loaf of bread for dipping in some oil and vinegar. In addition to their usual menu they usually have 5 or 6 menu items that are printed up each day and placed inside the menu. Very very good and highly recommend. Never annoyingly busy either and they take reservations.

Pretty good food at a standard price.Villagio is located in Dadeland Mall right by the Main Entrance next to Cheesecake Factory. This place gets really packed during lunch hours u might wait almost an hour so prepare to wait but trust me it's worth the wait. Our waiter Bobby was really friendly and greeted me and my friend once we were already seated. The whole staff including management is really friendly the service is great especially when it's ridiculously crowded. My Spaghetti and Meatballs with Rigatoni was amazing I will come back

I ordered Cozze Marechiaro mediterranean mussels sauteed in villagio's marechiare sauce. I don`t know, how old were mussels.... but, not fresh... I mean, NOT FRESH. After that time, we will never go there. I better wait in a line to get a place at Cheesecake factory, across the hall.

The ambiance and the service were both very nice. The food was good but not the best Italian food I've ever had. The complimentary bruschetta was delicious and a nice touch. My husband had tortellini stuffed with veal and he was happy with it. I had the gnocchi with pink sauce and the sauce was delicious but the gnocchi were a little chewy. There is no kids menu but they were willing to make my daughter penne with pink sauce which she enjoyed.

Consistently just a little let down at this location. Went around 9pm last night and our waiter, Frank, was excellent, as was our bus boy. The service was great, but the bread wasn't very fresh and my pasta wasn't as good as it usually is - tasted like it wasn't fully cooked or had been sitting out for too long. I know it's always a little risky going to a restaurant near closing time, but it just isn't the warm freshness that is expected. I have never had these issues at the Merrick Park location and much prefer that location when given the option. It was a pleasant experience, but just a solid B, not the excellence I expect from them.

Yum-o! Complimentary focaccia hit the spot! Atmosphere both in and outside was lovely, complimentary shot of limoncello after dinner--all bonuses! We ordered four entrees and one appetizer, food was so good that there was not a morsel left over, and the portions were a good size. Very attentive, knowledgable staff!

The waitress was as cute as a button, but she also has Aspberger's. That's fine because she's cute, though. She sucked at service, so that hurt my feelings. The other girl also had a huge mole on her face, so I had to deduct points for that. Then came the food. I ordered the tortellini aurora. It's veal tortellini with pink sauce for $14. I was excited, but disappointed. It was just average. Very average. Like Victoria Beckham. If you walk by Victoria Beckham in the mall, you wouldn't notice her if it weren't for her handsome boyfriend. In the same manner, if you had these leftovers, you wouldn't ask where they came from because it wouldn't interest you to visit it. The apple pie was good. The bread they use is fire. Like a crunchy croissant. With the apple and a great ice cream. Good job, here, but for the price, I was expecting an oralgasm.

Just excellent ! Food, service and ambience is just magnificent! Been here many times, lunch and dinner. Portions are huge ! You have the option of ordering 1/2 portion ! They start you off with a great Focaccia with tomatoes and basil. All restaurants usually charge you for this, they don't ! I tasted manny of their pastas and salads, all excellent quality and very fresh especially their seafood. Last visit we had the classic Bolognese sauce and it was just delicious, best in town, and the Rigatoni Telefono. Both sauces were just amazing. Also we order the Amalfi salad, a combination of fresh seafood and endives topped with a light lemon vinaigrette. I'm not a dessert person but I can assure the list is long and sound delicious. The reason why I take of a star is because of their very plain Wine list; they do have a long list, but all wines you can find at any grocery store, very basic. Good thing about it, it was 20% off all wines on a Saturday night ! Sweet ! I strongly recommend this restaurant that but the way is from the same owners of Carpaccio in Bal Harbor shops. I will continue to come here many times, great addition to Dadeland Mall !

I was surprised at how good this was for a Mall restaurant. I had a fusilli based meal it was filling. They serve a nice bruschetta with the meal, which probably cuts into their appetizer sales. No draft beers, only bottled. Has outdoor seating. A nice alternative to the "other" Mall restaurant. Service was excellent.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
