This is hands down the BEST sushi place in the whole wide world! The staff is like family to me and yes, I am on the menu because I have been a very loyal customer for over 10 years and it takes 5 years to even have a shot of getting on there. Here's a couple of secrets that I'm sure Jason, Jeffrey, and Tony (the owner) would hate for me to share but you will be glad to know... - order the appetizer size chicken fried rice and pour some of their house made spicy mayo on it (it's even better when grandpa makes it) - the kanisu is a great size portion and is always on point - everything is fresh, I mean EVERYTHING - Jason always has some secret roll he's working on so ask him what he's got - never order off the paper menu for sushi unless it's the alex #2 - let Jason come up with something for you, he's really good at coming up with your soon to be favorite roll - expect dinner and a conversation because these guys are really awesome and good to get to know - Jeffrey is awesome despite all the other reviews, he's sarcastic and an a - hole but we like his style (just don't come in at 9 pm and you won't face his wrath) - take out takes forever because of their size so plan on coming in, taking a load off, and having great conversation - this place holds 10 people max at a time so it's not for large groups cuz they are always packed So straight up, everyone should eat here at least once before they die. If I was on death row, this place would be where my last meal comes from. Tell them Yami sent you!

Hands down the best sushi in Miami. The Alex #2 roll is amazing! Tuna tataki is also great. Jason makes great rolls.

  • Carolina S.

This place literally looks like a hole in the wall, its tiny! Which is why I almost always get my order to go since this place is always packed; unless you are going at an odd hour of the day. Jason always makes my customized order for me and he knows it by heart; he's a really nice guy so make sure to tip him! I always get the: Dragon roll with no asparagus, I add cream cheese, and its made with soy paper instead of seaweed. This is my all time favorite roll, they have a lot of other rolls that are also great! Their thai donuts are also to die for!! This is Sunset's best kept secret; a hidden gem!

  • Aaron M.

One of the best sushi places in Miami hands down. Very small hole in the wall with minimal seating. I come here all the time and I always leave satisfied!

  • Gaby S.

If it wasn't for yelp i would have never known about this little hidden gem in the plaza of 87th ave and sunset. This place is so small but dont let the size fool you.. they got some kick ass sushi at some great prices. Alex #2 roll was really good! Service is a little slow that's why my review lacks one star.

  • Brandell M.

I love the food here and the prices are reasonable. I always get takeout later in the evening, though -- the restaurant is a little too cramped and crowded for a relaxing dine-in experience.

  • Michael D.

They got some really great sushi here. Went here and there always a lot of people when I come here. I brought my family so that they too can have a taste of what sushi is. I love eating here.

Love this place!! Really affordable, the most delicious/unique rolls, and big quantities!'

BEST SUSHI IN MIAMI! This place is hands down the best. As other reviewers mention it is tiny! As in you walk in to the sushi making counter with about 10 stools and there are also two small tables of two each against the other wall. Jason makes the sushi right in front of you and keeps everybody at the stools entertained at all times, even when he's making 10 rolls plus to-go orders. This is a family run business. Grandma and Grandpa are almost always there. The fried rice is out of this world and when you add spicy mayo... mind blowing. Sushi is almost always on the pricy end but I find the Sushi Bar to be reasonably priced. The portions are great too. Everything is fresh and always tastes great. Jason definitely knows what he's doing and can make anything for you and can even customize something if you tell him what you're in the mood for. I always get the volcano roll which is beyond words. I always go with my sister who lives very close and she has had pretty much everything on the menu plus has a roll on the menu named after her. I've been going to the Sushi Bar for a while and it has improved on the timing. Again, it is a hole in the wall with a lot of volume as far as orders go. I always go here with plenty of time and pretty much to relax. This is not your typical sushi place. Only Jason is making the sushi so it could take him more than average to get to your roll. I would say about a year or maybe more ago they hired Jeffrey who takes your order and brings you everything else that isn't sushi. This place is great!

This spot is the best sushi spot in Miami! Seriously, I'm not even exaggerating. I love sushi, and I've gone to a lot of (expensive) sushi restaurants, but there's just something about this place. First of all, it's TINY! I think only about 15-20 people fit in here at a time. The good news is that the service is pretty fast since you're literally sitting at the bar. You get to see how the sushi is being made, why is one of my favorite parts. You'll have your order made and ready to eat pretty fast. Now the food... WOW!! They have your classic sushi that you'll find in any other place, which is good for people that aren't took crazy about weird food/combos. The best prt about this spot is the sushi board. Here you'll find all the crazy sushi rolls that other people have created & have become customer favorites... Have you ever tried a sushi roll with guava? Well, you're gonna have to now! Serious, don't even bother trying any of the classics. You can get that anywhere else. They also can create basically anything you want. You just tell them what you like (or don't like) and let them surprise you, if you're into that kind of stuff.

    (5)
  • Eli P.

My favorite sushi spot! Yes, it is SUPER SMALL, but you can always take-out. They also have the Alex #2 roll which is my favorite! The sexy mama is also delicious! Jason is great and if you aren't sure of what you want he will help you out.

i am particular when it come to sushi , I only love a handful of restaurants and believe me this is one of them. Small place within the busy shopping center but their service is fast providing delicious and dfresh sushi. Highly recommend to others specially to those who are new to eating sushi !

  • Laura C.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the sushi and food at The Sushi Bar. I had been to the shopping mall where the restaurant is located hundreds of times before even noticing the small restaurant in the corner, but it was one of the best finds I've made. They have a variety of very creative rolls and of course the traditional rolls and sashimi. Service is a little slow, but it is definitely well worth the wait.

    (4)
  • Lauren E.

Best sushi in Miami. The guy who makes the sushi is super friendly and helpful. The server is moody, so ignore him and enjoy the food.

    (5)
  • Alex H.

Best sushi in Miami, all made fresh in front of u. The fried rice is amazing too!! Try the Alex #2 But be ready to wait bc this place is tiny. And they have a habit of making things last minute. If you order takeout and you're told 30 minutes, it seems like it's never ready even if you come in 40. They finish it while you're there. That's all I hate but the food is worth it. I would recommend dining IN only. That's the only reason I took 1 star off

    (4)
  • Mayli M.

I loooooove their sushi. They have the typical sushi everyone has, but they also have very creative rolls (think cilantro, mahi, guava, fresh mango, etc). The creative rolls vary and are listed in the restaurant, so instead of ordering on the phone, I suggest going there & placing the order in person in order to not miss out on something different & delicious. Also, I really like the size of their rolls. They aren't over-sized, so they fit perfectly in my mouth :) I would give them 5 stars based on food alone. The only problems I have there are #1 it's so tiny in there that you really need to get your order to go and #2 they close early (9pm) & are totally closed on Sun (I understand it's family day, but it makes it harder to go since I work Mon-Sat).

    (4)
  • Stephanie D.

A GEM in a Winn-Dixie shopping plaza! This place packs you in like a can of sardines because they literally have only about 6 tables & a small sushi bar seating, but its all worth it! They have a unique array of sushi rolls to select from that are delicious!! Definitely one of our to-go spots for sushi!!!

  • Marlyn M.

Came here for the first time today with co workers... I had never had sushi. I ordered chicken fried rice. They had Orlando roll.... Knowing I had never had sushi I was forced to try it... With Eel sauce too!! I was thinking what the heck am I about to eat.. I had refused To try sushi so many times but I decided to give it a try. So I closed my eyes and shoved it in my mouth.... Not even a second passed and I was already in love. It was like a sexual explosion in my mouth.. I couldn't even open my eyes!! Lmao. I missed out on this for TWENTY TWO years. I immediately wanted more but had already ate my rice which was also amazing. I will be back for more. The Thai donuts were also great. I'm so excited to explore the sushi world! Service was very nice but slow. Typical Asian place setup.

  • Christine K.

TWO WORDS: HIDDEN GEM A BIG emphasis on the word: HIDDEN! This place is tiny, and a literal hole in the wall in a popular strip mall on Galloway. I recommend the ninja roll (if you like cooked sushi) and the fried rice is outstanding! My only complaint is that they may need to hire one or two extra people (it gets crowded which kills service), and get better equipment. They use a consumer toaster oven for crying out loud!

    (4)
  • Rolanda H.

Do not believe the reviews! THIS IS NOT THE BEST SUSHI IN MIAMI!! I am traveling on business and did not have the time to go to my Sushi spot on Miracle Mile. So, I Yelped to find this place. It's a hole-in-the-wall (in not opposed to hole-in-the-walls when it's neat and clean) and the tuna was smashed up like a salad. The tempura was not authentic shrimp. It was a thin with a lot of crust and no shrimp. They did not have bottle water and no to go cups! This was a wasted experience and I will NEVA come back again.

    (1)
  • Ili M.

The best sushi I've ever had in Miami. It's tiny and quaint and maybe s little off putting at first but I don't come for ambience, I come for the food and that's the way it should be. Alex #2 is my absolute favorite! Ask for Jason, he's the best.

    (5)
  • Evelio R.

Best sushi in Miami, without a doubt. A real hole in the wall and very easy to miss. On par with Akashi but with better prices. Huge sushi selection. Get the Alex #2 and the BS roll if you get a chance. Friendly staff too.

  • Kendra M.

I hope to come back and give this place a better review, but I couldn't even eat here. If you close at 9pm on a Friday night.....I can't try your sushi. Please adjust your hours!

This place was surprisingly delicious. It is a very small place in the corner of the shopping center. The rolls are all very unique and the three we tried were awesome. We had the Michelle, the CoCo, and the Triple X.

  • Donald M.

Stopped in, 5:30pm. At a 10 person bar top; 7 seats were full at one point. But the average was 5 people. So half full. There are only two tables that both seat two people. We took one table. Restaurant is now almost at capacity. There was two older Asian people sleeping in the corner behind the fish tank in plain sight of the customers. Looks TERRIBLE! Ordered a spicy tuna roll. The roll was oddly shaped, some pieces were smaller and some were bigger than others; the seaweed wasn't even touching on some. I don't understand it. Chicken Katsu. Not much flavor. Kinda bland. Hard to mess this up. The bottom of it was SOGGY, the fried goodness all just fell off. Cardona roll- tuna, mango, cilantro, cucumber, avocado, onions & Kimchee sauce. Another roll that wasn't rolled tight. It was sitting broken on my dish. I'll attach a pic.

Jason is the best! So nice! The place is tiny but I love it that way it's very intimate. All the sushis are delicious and if not they will make you something good. You have to stop by

My boyfriend introduced me to this place a couple of days ago because i am a sushi FANATIC and he said that this was the "best sushi he had ever had". Now I've tried my fair share of sushi restaurants so i told him that I'd be the judge of that. It turns out that he was absolutely right! Although the place seems a little sketchy because its a tiny hole in the wall, not only was the food spectacular, but the service and the overall feel of the place was great! The head chef, Jason, was willing to customize my order and was super sweet. I can't wait to go back!!

    (5)
  • Michelle C.

Excellent sushi!!! One of my and my husband's favorite sushi spots in Miami. At first glance it seems really sketchy, but it came highly recommended by trusted friends so we gave it a shot - and I'm glad we did! The head chef, Jason, is absolutely wonderful. He is extremely kind and makes dang good sushi. I love the variety of rolls that they sell, and their fried rice is sooooo good! The only downside is that it's a tiny hole in the wall... Next to a cigar shop. This is the only reason I have it a 4/5. My husband and I will be definitely regulars at Sushi Bar.

    (4)
  • Olivia M.

Best sushi in Miami definitely coming back again when i next time in town. The seating is nice and customer service is grate hand rolls probably the best i try so far.

  • Louie K.

This place is fantastic! Jason is a really great guy who offers really great service to every patron that walks in. The food is perfect here. The fried rice is perhaps the best fried rice I've ever had. I like my fried rice extra brown, but there's no need for that here, I could honestly go back just for the fried rice everyday. The sushi was made to perfection as well. The ingredients were fresh and the presentation was well balanced with color, texture, and garnishes. I'm not gonna suggest anything but the fried rice because I truly believe you can't go wrong with any choice on the menu. Go with your gut feeling when you get there is my suggestion. If you're in the area definitely stop by, and if you're a Yelper, then bookmark this venue. Great service and great food never fails. Be warned though, you will fall in love with this place. Lol

  • Sabrina S.

Someone told me this was the best sushi I would ever eat and I didn't believe them but OMG I think it really is! I had the chicken fried rice which was soooooo good and then I had to have the Sabrina roll since it's named after me :) it did not disappoint! Then I had the Top Secret roll which was not on the board but someone had told me about it and it was really great! Everything was so fresh and delicious! This place is a gem and I am definitely coming back to try everything!

  • Karla S.

Ok let me be clear. This is a hole in the wall and i did not waltz in here expecting a 5 star dining experience. But I expected some sort of proper service and attention. The food was 3 stars at best but the service was a serious 1. Just bad. We ordered the roxy, Orlando and sunset roll and a vegetable tempura appetizer. The first thing that came out was the roxy which was spicy tuna with tuna on top. The rice was not cooked well and it was incredibly bland. Next came out the vegetable tempura which was such a joke. They give you the little shavings from the vegetables only!!! They give this to you across the street at Kampai in addition to real vegetables for the same damn price! The sunset roll was not much better. Bland all the way. Then the Orlando was possibly the only redeeming roll but nothing great or even remotely good. To make matters worse I had to ask for them to bring me soy sauce plates, I had to ask for them to give me ginger and I had to ask for them to clear the giant stack of plates and dirty napkins on my little 2 person table. Oh, and I was never asked if I would like my iced tea refilled which was bone dry. We didn't even bother finishing the Orlando roll. Paid, left a deserving tip and walked over to the Jamaican restaurant next door and got us delicious Jamaican patties. How on earth anyone can say this is great or even good sushi is astounding. There is nothing good about this place. I love a diamond in the ruff. Trust me. But this is a huge let down by any standards--- especially by fellow Yelpers. If you're thinking of coming here do yourself a favor and either go to Jamaica Kitchen next door or across the street to Kampai for much better food.

  • Candace T.

Alex #2 please! This place really is a hidden gem. The best rolls in town. Seriously.. who in Miami eats sushi and hasn't heard of an Alex #2?! Definitely not a place to go in a group because it only seats about 10 people comfortably in the whole place... but you can order for take out and eat it with your friends elsewhere. Oh, and don't forget the fantastic service - everyone here is really nice. Jason in particular always remembers us and what we order, and always has a smile.

  • Andy D.

I don't see the hype, but I do agree its a hole in the wall. The talent of the sushi chef isn't the problem, service is the problem. The Sushi Bar, does have unique sushi rolls, like the XXX or the Jasmine. all very interesting, but I think they are best served if they stuck to a call in take out service, as that was there focus when I was there, and so I was merly a ghost or inconvenience to them as they rushed to complete the call in/take out orders. They lack the skills on running a restaurant when a customer is there, I might add the only customer. Firstly it took at least five minutes, while sitting at the bar for someone to ask what I wanted. I know that five minutes doesn't seem like a long time, but the place was empty, no customers...... none at all! So, five minutes is a real long time. Once I was eventually greeted I ordered the Jasmine Roll and a Hiyashi Wakame Salad and a iced green tee. Never got the salad, the green tee was more like water, but the Jasmine Roll was interesting. I wanted Brown Rice, but couldn't get that, but thats ok, there are other sushi establishments that don't provide that. And, that maybe the crux of the problem, they are like many of the just ok sushi restaurants in South Florida. If I was them and wanted to carve out a niche in the restaurant world, granted having good food counts, but they need so much more when a customer arrives. I agree with "Big Daddy V" on his assessment.

We get food from here often and everything is GREAT!! Absolutely LOVE the Alex 2 roll!! Nothing beats it! My kids LOVE the sushi. My son is very picky and they make him whatever he wants (no green stuff). :) Had the shrimp fried rice last week and it was delicious! We were fighting over the left-overs. The place is small but the food is dead on. I have never had something that I don't like at this place. Everything is good!!

  • Danny D.

Best sushi I've had so far. Granted, I haven't had much sushi, but this stuff is great. If there are a few people there, it can be a bit slow, but Jason does his best to talk to everyone and make sure you feel welcome. I'm not exactly sure what was in the stuff I've eaten, but I think I'll go in order of how I liked it Top Secret Roll with tuna Michelle Roll Conner Roll Something with mango & cilantro (least favorite one on account of the cucumber in it =/) Don't bother looking at the menu--just look at the whiteboard on the wall or ask Jason for recommendations. Oh yeah, chicken fried rice. Nuff said.

how on earth have i never reviewed this place; its a great no frills neighborhood sushi spot. dining in can be.... interesting as there is only about 10 seats total. so take out is usually the way to go. the guys behind the bar are awesome and super fast, they dont skip a beat making top quality fresh and delicious rolls!! however the waiter could definitely get a crash course in speed, multi-tasking, and overall people skills. they have an almost identical menu to akashi (note - the famous alex #2) but their specials board is where its at!!!! another 30 or so creative combinations!! and don't forget an order of fried rice, its really really good. its not cheap as most rolls are in the 10-12 range, but its worth every cent.

  • Erica S.

Fresh sushi and amazing fried rice! What more can you ask for? This is a small restaurant that is family owned. If you are looking for a quiet romantic date this isn't it. However, a quick lunch date is fine. The older couple ran the Chinese restaurant that used to be in the same spot. I don't mind them at all. Like I said, you come here for the sushi.

  • Karen S.

Best sushi!!! Everyone is friendly even the costumers. The whole atmosphere is very relax makes u feel like u know everyone there. Extensive menu and u can order just about anything. Love every roll and the fried rice and Thai donuts are amazing. Favorite rolls: BS, Top Secret, Part Time, Sexy Mama, Chahi (if you are in the mood for something different/sweet on your sushi... It's delicious)!!, and as I said before.... Just about any roll.... Have tried most of them and haven't been disappointed once!!! Must give it a try!!

I'm not sure it's fair to review this place based on one visit alone since it seems to have such wonderful reviews, but I'm here already. It's a little uncomfortable walking into such a small place where your conversation echoes throughout encouraging others to chime in. But good things come in small packages, right? I'm going to be honest; the dragon roll I ordered was unappealing and the tekka roll my friend ordered was a mess. However, they were both inexplicably delicious and unexpectedly flavorful. The itamae was probably inexperienced or in a rush since he was preparing a boat for a party of 25. I want to go back to try the Alex #2 roll.

Even though I'm reviewing this place now, I have been coming here for years. At one point it was my everyday place. I love this place. I love everything about it. The fact that is a small hole in the wall place (emphasis on small) the fact that everyone here is friendly and probably one of the coolest people you'll meet, the fact that the sushi is pretty darn good.

    (4)
  • Kris R.

Whole in the wall sushi bar! The food was great the atmosphere not so much. According to a previous yelper, the owner is the brother of the owner of Akashi which why they have many similar rolls.. We ordered pork dumplings-steamed and fried, the Gina Roll, and the BS Roll, and they were all delicious--like ridiculously good. I have to say my only complaint was the atmosphere it seems the owners family hands out in the corner and I wasn't too fond of that. That being said, the roll the sushi right in front of you and they are quick with your order. I recommend stopping by and trying the food, and you can decide on the atmosphere for yourself. I'll probably be doing take out from now on.

Decided to step out the box and try this place. The fried rice is THE BEST, hands down. When I first came here the roll I tried tasted like heaven, the second time it was ok which is why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5. Overall the food is good.

Wow! Talk about a diamond in the rough! We came here on Saturday night for a bite to eat. We were looking for some great food in a low key environment and this place hit the spot. There were pretty popping for such a whole in the wall and they seem to have a very strong following of regulars. I smelled no cigar smoke as was mentioned by one reviewer., and I'm really sensitive to that. It was truly our sushi chef (Jason?) that made our experience the best. He was great! Super friendly and very knowledgeable. He's also with out a doubt they fastest sushi maker I have ever seen! This comes from someone that worked in two different sushi bars for over 2 years. Definitely order some fried rice to kick things off. It comes out hot, fresh, and fast. Although it took awhile to get the plates cleared from the previous customers the service was pretty on top and our glasses were always filled. As many have advised, skip the regular menu and head straight for the board. We had two rolls off of there but I can't remember the names. The first had mango, tuna, kimchee sauce, cilantro, avocado, and cucumber. It was perfect. The second had guava, shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado, and seared tuna steak. It was a tad too sweet even for me, but I think if we had ordered a more savoury roll to accompany it, it would have been just fine. I'd definitely go here again, so sayonara until next time!

My co-worker recommended this spot since our office is nearby. I was in the office yesterday and some time freed up for lunch so I stopped by. It's such a whole in the wall, it's tucked away in the corner of the Winn-Dixie shopping plaza on 87th and Sunset. I'm a fan of small places with great food so this is my kind of place. I ordered the Alex #2 roll and it was delicious! I ordered from the menu but failed to notice the board up top behind the sushi bar with all their customs rolls that aren't listed on the menu. I will definitely return to try them...looks like this is the type of place where you can order a new dish every visit. I wish they'd deliver!

So this is the hole in the wall of holes in the wall. Teeny tiny little place in a rinky dink shopping mall, but such a pleasant surprise. Besides the fact that they didn't have the roll we asked for - or brown rice - or diet coke (they have 1 coke zero so my hubs had to settle for a warm cherry coke zero) - or that our waiter was a total space cadet w/ no idea what he was doing - we had a really yummy meal and will be returning. They offer a massive selection of very inventive rolls. It's kind of overwhelming, there's just so much to choose from. We went for the "Ninja", the "Dalila" and after asking for the roll they didn't have the dude behind the bar recommended one called "Top Secret" which ended up being complete awesomeness. These people are serious about their sushi - they mix the most random things in there. For example, the "Dalila" has guava in it. Chunks of rich delicious guava paste w/ cream cheese, avocado and tuna. YUM! They had other rolls w/ coconut, macadamia, mango - yum! I can't wait to go back and try them all.

Thank you Sabrina for intriducing me to such a great sushi place! This name literally describes the place. There is only a sushi bar to sit so have patience here. There is also 1 guy making the rolls so you need even more patience. So if you are lookign for a fast lunch during your break, this might not be the place for you. If you are a sushi lover and have all the time in the world, then please visit this place! You can pick and choose your rolls from 2 different places. There is a menu you can look through that includes their simplier rolls and there is also a few dry erase boards with more rolls. So far I hae tried the Alex #2 roll and the Ninja roll & they are both Mmm! I like how they incorporate non-traditional items in the rolls like guava, mango, etc.

My girlfriend and I have been to several different sushi places and no one compares to this one! It is a bit far from us coming from Miami International Airport area, but never the less it is definitely worth the drive! The variety and paring of the unique rolls is the reason why i give it the 5 star rating. Yes, the staff is a bit slow and the place is TINY, but the flavor is amazing.

This place is a tiny gem! Loved the "top secret" roll, the best sushi ever. I just discovered this place last week, went back today and I have a feeling I will become a regular. Not only is the sushi Delish, the ambiance is very nice as well. Since the place is tiny, everyone is super friendly! If your into sushi you have to check this place out!

The Sushi Bar is a place for those who want a true sushi experience where the main concern is nothing other than the food. Unlike some sushi establishments, this restaurant's selling point is quality food and not some sort of pseudo vicarious celebrity-experience where one is "to see and be seen". If you're looking for an intimate conversation over some great food, this is the place for your sushi-get away. After all the recent literature about sushi restaurants selling you one kind of fish and giving you another, I've been concerned with where I go. Having given this place a try, I'd say surpassing those concerns is definitely worth it! The rolls are fantastic (especially Alex #2) and fish is fresh and honest. We're a picky duo with high standards when it comes to sushi, my friend, a Japanese fanatic who makes regular visits to the country, was markedly impressed. Trust me when I say that this is not to be taken lightly. Anyway, with the latin community here, including guava in a roll is just about one of the best ideas I have ever heard of since automatic text messages whenever Victoria's Secret is gifting free panties...I'm not sure which makes me happier. I definitely recommend starting off with some classic miso soup and then proceeding to take your pick of the exciting specialty rolls...try the fried rice too! We topped everything off with some Thai doughnuts and, let me tell you, it was worth the extra cycling class I had to fit in my schedule. Although I wouldn't go here in a large group, this is certainly top on the list for high quality sushi -- it was a delectable experience!

In the area b/c of work,.. and after a quick Yelp reference as guidance, I ventured for some reconnaissance into The Sushi Bar. What a great little hole in a wall!!... tucked away in the 'corner' of Sunset West Shopping Center. Look for SUSHI in red letter., on the 70's style wood shake roofing... Space is about 12'-0" by 22'-0",.. 1/2 of which is the Sushi Bar..,kitchen in back,. seating for 10-12 max.. so it's very tight, but all great places like this are!... so suck it up and order from the roll menu on the wall (see image) I'm starting from the bottom right... Owner is the brother of Akashi owner, so you might recognize some of the rolls,. but go for their very own great variety which I think are sooo much better! Was there for a quick lunch... Great Service! You have to give them a try if you're in the area. Be back again very soon.

BEST SUSHI IN MIAMI! My family and I are addicted to the sushi here, The place is not pretty and very small but the food makes up for it in every way!

Great place to grab lunch. It really is like a hole in the wall. It's a tiny and secluded place that is really hard to get around, because it is so small, but the food is great. It is a little pricey as far as sushi goes, but it tastes great. The sushi menu is huge. They have the regular menu with lots of choices of sushi...and then they have the specials board in the place with even more choices. I got the Lucky Roll which had eel, avocado, and shrimp. It was great and I also got a fried rice order to go with it (only 2.75) Even the fried rice was extraordinary. Overall, it's kind of pricey, but it's very good. Definitely need to try this place.

Excellent sushi at a decent price. Oh, and some excellent fried rice (portion for two) at $2.75. The Chahi roll is amazing (although a bit on the sweet AND pricey side, $12.95), which is fried salmon and crab salad with cream cheese, guava, mango, and toasted coconut with a light sweet sauce. The fried rice is something like the one at Samurai. Freshly cooked, light on the soy sauce. Their miso soup was also good, tasted very fresh and was accompanied by their lunch special which was 6 california rolls, 6 tuna rolls and 6 bagel rolls. It was good for $9.95. Parking is a breeze, but the place is quite small. Only two tables that sit two people each, and then a sushi bar for 9-10 people. The service was kind of odd. There was one employee preparing all the sushi, while two or three people sat in the back conversing. The employee doing all the work was extremely friendly and was very attentive. So we got decent service, although I had to get up twice to ask for water, but I didn't mind, I'd feel bad having the server come serve me when the place is so cramped. The place inside looks nice and is extremely clean. Their sushi menu is extremely expansive, consisting of something like 10-20 rolls in the menu, and then what I'm guessing are 'daily' rolls or specials which they write on a board. There, they have about another 25-30 special rolls they offer. So, if its variety you're looking for, and sushi with a twist, I highly recommend this spot!

Thanks to Karina for introducing me to this place! It's definitely a hole in the wall, but the food makes up for the location. I ordered the Ninja roll & it was amazing! I highly recommend this place. I can't wait to go back!

I absolutely L-O-V-E this place!! My best friend and I have been going for years and we always get a warm welcome! The staff is amazing. Tony and Jason always remember me! Food is excellent! They have just about everything your little sushi dreams are made of! Yes, it is a whole in the wall but once you have tried the food and experienced the atmosphere itself, you will not care how small or hidden it is! Best sushit by far!

I went to The Sushi Bar yesterday for the first time and the food was delicious! My boyfriend ordered the Chahi roll which consists of crab salad, cream cheese, guava, fried salmon and mango - the entire roll is then covered with shredded toasted coconut. It was seriously THE best sushi roll I have ever eaten. My only problem with it is that it could've been rolled a bit tighter because a few pieces completely fell apart when I picked them up with my chopsticks, but other than that, it is a must have. The roll was $13, which some may view as expensive, but it was totally worth it and definitely better than any other "run of the mill" sushi rolls that will cost you just about the same. Since we went during the time that they have their lunch specials, (I believe it's from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.) I ordered one which came with 6 pieces of their bagel roll, 6 california roll pieces, and 6 tuna roll pieces, as well as my choice of a soup or salad (I went with their delish miso soup). This came out to around $11, and was also totally worth it. I split a small order of their fried rice with my boyfriend which was extremely fresh and was a hefty portion (at only $2.75 too!) This place is literally just a sushi bar with two very small tables, so it's not good for big groups, but is awesome for a relaxing lunch with a friend. It did take a bit of time to get our order taken, but the lovely guy that tended to us was very accommodating (never saw him without a smile on his face and a "whatever you need" attitude). Definitely a pleasant experience and going back very soon.

Our favorite reasonably priced sushi restaurant. Tony & Jason are Great!!! It's not a fast paced place. It's a place where friends go. Excellent quality fish.

Sushi bar!!!!! So yummy. Chicken fried rice is toooooo good and the Sexy Mama roll is my #1 favorite. It can get packed but is worth it for the wait. Don't go there expecting to be there for 30 minutes. It's a take your time kinda place

I am assuming the good reviews are written by people who have never had sushi. This place is awful!! Dirty, unprofessional and the food is awful. Sushi grade fish, not here. I have never had a worse experience. Fried rice, terrible. I rather eat mcdonalds it just might be healthier. I found the rolls overpriced for the quality. I felt so ripped off

Loved it! It is small and personal. The menu is written on the whiteboard and is constantly changing. Customer's pretty much have their "usuals" made into rolls. Some good ones I had: Cardona roll, Orlando roll, Gina roll and Squints roll. Fish was fresh and service was good.

OMG!!!!!! OMG!!!!! I love this place. I will warn you that it is a hole in the wall, but the food is amazing. To me its the best sushi in Miami. Be very careful going with a big group, because it only holds about 12 people. (Not kidding) Usually I take 3-4 people at a time. The head chef is Jason and he is very friendly and makes all the sushi he serves with love. Usually I only go to this place for the awesome sushi, but their fried rice and chicken teriyaki are very good as well. Lets just say everything is great here. lol Be very careful going during peak lunch hours, because it does get very packed with people there and the flood of take out orders they get on a daily basis. The menu it self is great, but what is truly amazing is the custom menu on the white boards on the wall. Like I said OMG. You have to try the Michelle, Dalila, partime, Ninja, Alex 1/2, JB roll, Chahi, Joel (wonder why its called that). lol, Orlando, and etc etc there are about 40 special ones and I have yet to be disappointed. Make sure to ask for the Top Secret Roll, Jason will never tell you whats in it, but it is amazing. Also what I really like about this place is that every roll comes with 10-12 pieces, and they are filling. Sometimes it gets so busy that you have to really push if you want your water refilled or some more sauce. I always tell Jason he needs to sell some alcohol, but either way I love coming to this place and will never stop enjoying it. Enjoy.

Deeeeelicious! I don't even like sushi, that is until now. It is addicting. Love the roll with krab, guava, cream cheese, shrimp, topped with Tuna and Avocado and coconut. Wow so good. Hubby likes the ninja which is also great. You are def not coming here for the great decor or atmosphere though, just the food FYI

I cant believe no one has reviewed this place! This is a pretty much one of the best sushi places I've gone to in a while. Its kind of hidden so not that many people know about it but the food is awesome! I went with my boyfriend this past weekend and had the "Squints" roll and the "Orlando" roll. It turns out that if you go frequently to the restaurant, they'll name a roll after you and then you're in the menu! Pretty cool right? We also ordered fried rice and chicken temputa which were great too. The only down side to this place is that it is hidden and a hole in the wall.... there are only a few tables and bar. But they do have take out, so I plan on just ordering ahead and picking up dinner from now on.

I've been going here for years. I think its the best traditional sushi restaurant in town. It is owned by Tony, the brother of the owner of Akashi. They offer many of the same rolls that Akashi does plus many many more. Very fresh ingredients and creative rolls. The restaurant is tiny. Its a bar which seats about 8 people, and then two tables for 2. With its growing popularity it might be easier to get take out. They also deliver!

This place is the absolute best. This is pretty much the only sushi restaurant I go to. The rolls are so unique and taste great. Jason is not only cool as shit but is an excellent, excellent sushi chef. These, seriously, are some of the best rolls I've had in Miami. My only complaint is how the hell does everyone know about the Top Secret roll?? WTF, Jason?? That and they are not open on Sundays. I'm ALWAYS craving sushi on Sundays for some reason and I can never have it. Oh well, 5 stars.

I really want to like this place...Honestly. However at the end of the day I just can't work myself to recommend it. Let me begin by saying this review is based on several visits ranging from lunch to dinner, and dine-in as well as take out. First, for the good. The food. No one can deny that the food here is solid, if not great most of the time. With sushi you are bound to have some rolls that may be a little messy or something of the sort from time to time, however, in general the food is good. That however, is where the good ends. Now for the bad, lets start with the service. This place is small both in size and staff, nothing wrong with that; and it definitely has a following. However, when the staff neglects other customers for the sake of regulars, thats a problem. On multiple occasions the staff has seen it fit to prepare the meals of regulars before other guests, the last time I was here the Itamae decided to prepare orders for two parties of 2 before my to go order which was made first. To my dismay i waited 45 minutes while these other guest who arrived later finished their meals before my order was done. Besides sushi I had also ordered fried rice, which was prepared quickly by other staff and therefore cold by the time my sushi was finished. To be clear, I am not talking about making an appetizer or salad first.... oh no, i'm talking about a multi-plate meals for two parties of two. So be warned. Now for something that is new and while not at all this restaurants fault, it must be mentioned..... Next door is a new cigar shop, this place now smells like a cigar shop. If you are going to eat here, you better like cigars and the smell of tobacco and cigar smoke, because there is no distinguishing this place from a cigar shop. Maybe this problem will be remedied in the future, but for now.... be warned. So in conclusion, the food is good, but unless you are willing to take the chance of having to wait 45 minutes for a JB and spicy tuna roll while others come and go, and the smell of cigar smoke....this place is a pass. 2 stars for the food, 0 stars for the service, 0 stars for the local.

This place is by far the best sushi I've ever had. The menu is always expanding and is filled with creative and delicious sushi rolls. There is limited seating and it is sometimes crowded, but it is well worth the wait. The staff is also very friendly and always happy to make excellent recommendations based on what you typically order. I've never been disappointed by anything I've ordered. Absolutely delicious!!

This is a small sushi place stuck in the corner of a shopping plaza off Galloway (87th ave) and 72nd St. I've noticed it several times on the way into Winn Dixie but never stopped in til tonight- and I'm happy I did! When my boyfriend and I came in we noticed a white board full of over 30 different specialty sushi rolls so we ordered off that menu, then noticed they have more types of dinner on another menu. The staff was pretty friendly but it did take them a while to take our order and serve it. There seemed to be a few regulars stop by in the short time we were there, and a few stragglers such as ourselves as well. We ordered the Yashley and Elena rolls. The Yashley was a fried roll, which I don't normally do, but it was amazing! The Elena was good too. We'll definitely be back again to try some different rolls- there's more than enough to choose from.

Generic sushi with no real discernable flare. Individual sushi pieces were one a piece (typical order brings two pieces per order) and that one piece was small. Prices were average. Not much variety on the menu.
