Another hidden gem in Kendall!! Came to celebrate a friends Bday. Made a reservation for 8pm. The restaurant was packed. We were seated right away. The service was outstanding. The attention to our needs was constant. Water being poured and our wine glasses were never left empty. I chose a Pinot Grigio that was perfect for our meal. Kept chilled at our table. The food was excellent. For starters we had the calamari and the goat cheese croquettes. Omg delicious. The croquettes were huge balls of delectable melted goat cheese that just melted on your tongue. The risotto with shrimp and mushrooms were fantastic. So rich and creamy with a bit of smokiness. My friend and I decided to share the plate and they separated the plates for us. Very generous portions. For desert we had the lava cake and the Tiramisu. Both exceptional. If you are looking for quality food, excellent service and intimate ambiance, this is the place.

Went last night for our wedding anniversary and was blown away by the food. We found this restaurant again thanks to yelp and again it did not disappoint. The restaurant it's beautiful and super cozy perfect for a date night. The service was superb, everyone was super nice. The food was amazing you can taste the freshness in every ingredient they used. For our appetizers we ordered the Fried Calamari and the special soup of the day which was split pea soup. For our entrees my husband ordered the ossobuco with fettuccine and it was delicious, the meat was super tender. I ordered the Shrimp and Mushrooms Risotto and it has been one of the best I've eaten. For dessert we had an amazing and unique dessert, it was a warn pastelito de guayaba (guava pastry) with ice cream, condensed milk and guava syrup!!!! Amazing!!!. We had a wonderful anniversary. Thanks Secreto.

This is by far one of my most favorite dinning places! I love to just tell people what I want and them just coming up with something delicious! I am not picky at all! Being a server has taught me a lot about fine dinning and this is amazing place to just try new things! Every time I go it's a new dish and just a new creation! I love it! I work at Shibui Japanese restaurant if you're looking for sushi we have great suggestions as well! Names Andy!

This place is really something . The best risotto I have ever had very creamy . Great tiramisu. My only compliant is that their menu is kinda limited .

This place is a little hidden gem. Great crab cakes. Great pasta. The cleanest public bathroom I have ever been in! Two thumbs up.

I went there in July 2011 and promised myself never to go back. The food might have been OK but the way I was greeted by Luis Buitron (one of the owners) was inappropriate. I made the reservation for dinner the night before and specifically told him that I needed a table next to the window because I liked to take pictures. When we arrived the next day he said that I could not take pictures because my camera was "too big" ( a Nikon D90???) and that Michelle Bernstein had been there before and that they had to close the whole restaurant for that (?) . I said that if it was not OK to take pictures that I would just go to another restaurant. I had a male friend with me who happened to be Venezuelan just like Luis Buitron who said "This is just a lady taking pictures of her food, what's the big deal?". At that point we were seated and my friend and Luis Buitron started talking about Venezuela and the restaurant business. It was impossible for me to enjoy the food as nothing spoils the flavor of a dish as sincere and unadulterated rudeness. It's been 4 years since I have been there and still cannot forget Luis' tone of voice. I hope he has better customer service skills now and treats everyone with respect even if they are not Michelle Bernstein. I just had to get this off my chest. They are getting very good reviews, so good for them.

My favorite restaurant. The food is amazing, love the romantic ambience and the excellent service. I have tried several specials, the best ones I had so far are the Octopus, Salmon, Corvina Carpaccio, Crispy Duck with Strawberry Sauce and the Chilean Sea Bass in White Wine with herbs. I love their lasagna Can't wait to be back

Attended an event in area....needed a pleasant but timely lunch environment. Yelp to the rescue - Secreto is tucked into a strip mall off of Kendall Drive. Professional service started upon entry. Prompt seating and water service. Specials were offered - I selected the corvina. Hot bread presented with olive oil, freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and an aged Balsamic vinegar. Special included a crisp, flavorful salad. The entree was accompanied by a petite portion of broccoli, squash, carrot, mashed potatoes. The corvina could have used a little more salt but overall the meal was very enjoyable. My initial pour of Pinot Noir was sparse; I appreciate another server taking notice of this, apologizing and returning to complete my pour without breaking the momentum of my conversation with my colleague. Definitely will return. Kendall has another winner! Quality counts.

My wife and I dined at Secreto in May 2015. We were excited to experience this "hidden gem in Kendall" that other reviewers described. I'm sorry to say that we were disappointed. The food and service were certainly not bad. The interior was nicely appointed and intimate but a bit loud. We just felt that it was average, not memorable and not quite worth the price.

Hidden in a Strip Mall neighboring the well recognized Giardino's you will find Secreto. A friend of mine recommended this place years ago and the suggestion remained tucked away in a miscellaneous file somewhere in my brain. When my Mother's 50th Birthday came around, I knew this was just the place to celebrate. Her birthday fell on a weekday and we wanted to take her out to an upscale restaurant close to her home. And so, I set out on a one hour and twenty minute drive to Kendall from the Beach. I called to request that our reservation be moved up from 7:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M. after enduring an agonizing thirty minutes just to leave la playa. Their understanding and willingness to accommodate our request already earned Secreto two stars! The ambiance, generous bread serving, wine, calamari appetizer, veal scaloppini, guava cake alamode and wonderful service eliminated the memory of our earlier traffic experience. Secreto is the perfect restaurant to celebrate a special occasion and share laughs, memories and nostalgic storytelling over mouth watering Italian cuisine.

The experience begins with the ambiance itself. You wouldn't give this place a 2nd look as you're driving down Kendall but everything you've heard from other people who love this place is true and worth the visit. The place seats a max of 50 and the service alone is worth going for. They allow time for conversation before bringing out the food but still manage to be prompt. They pay attention to your glasses of water and wine and are constantly refilling them for you but without being intrusive. We never felt rushed and WE had to ask for the check, they weren't shoving it down our throats like most places. I ordered the fiochetti, which was heavenly. The sauce was the perfect consistency and the flavor in the pasta was the perfect combination of sweet and savory. My husband ordered the ossobucco with risotto which was also incredible. And the creme brulee was perfection We cannot say enough about Secreto and can't wait to go back.

This restaurant is one of the few high end non-franchise restaurants in Kendall. Truly it is a secret, a hidden gem residing in a shopping center which can be easily missed. Patrons of this restaurant usually hear its great success by word of mouth. I have visited a couple of times and it does not disappoint. The service is impeccable and the specials of the day are amazing. First visit I had the black lobster ravioli and my boyfriend has the chorizo risotto and short rib. The lobster ravioli was delicate and delicious. The risotto was a different take on the usual porcini or champagne risotto. The chorizo gave it a nice smoky taste and the short rib was tender and delicious. Our second visit we had asparagus and prosciutto with melted cheese on top. The asparagus were fresh and crisp and the saltiness of the prosciutto paired incredibly. For entrée we had the special which was paparedelle and ossobuco. Delicate sauce tossed with mushrooms and spinach. This is a great alternative to the many franchises Kendall has. The specials are a must.

Food 1 to 10 for me 8, I make reservations for me and my wife , a friend recommended this place , i wasn't sure about that , the place it's extremely small and a little pricey, service was great , wine selection wasn't the best , no to many option on the menu, portobello mushrooms with crab meat in lobster sauce for appetizer was great , it's a good place , I can come back again. It's a secreto in kendall.

It's so great when you find a gem like this that's so close to home. Honestly I've driven by this place for years and never gave it a second thought. We finally stopped by after a friend recommended it. Why did I wait so long to come here?! The pasta dishes are amazing, the service is wonderful, and the staff really makes you feel at home each time you go. Try the chocolate mousse and the soup of the day!!

This is truly a hidden gem in Kendall, and to think they are celebrating 6 years at this location. Secreto is a true secret and almost impossible to find in the shopping center. The experience from start to finish was exceptional. The food, the service, the ambiance...amazing! Our server was attentive from start to finish and knew the menu well. Although a small restaurant and a wait at times, he never rushed us and was cordial as can be. As for food, we ordered the tostones with pork and demiglaze. Delicious. Cooked / baked to perfection. For the main entree, I had the risotto with lamb shanks and my gf had the cannelloni stuffed with chicken in pink sauce. Great stuff! Their chef is definitely gifted in the culinary field. As much as they deserve all the clients in the world, I hope this place remains true to itself and it's customer! Can't wait to go back!

Quite simply put, Secreto is probably in my top 10 restaurants to take my girls in Miami. The food is out of this world and the staff really knows how to complement a dinner with the right bottle of wine. This is the perfect spot in Kendall when you don't want to drive to Coral Gables for a great meal

I've been dining at Secreto for over 4 years. This restaurant is consistent and on point in every aspect. The menu changes weekly so you will never get bored. The food is always tasty and the service is amazing. Go check it out!

I agree with Rick M.'s review. We have been to Secreto many times and never have been disappointed. Our most recent visit was to celebrate my dad's birthday. We took my parents over and boy did they love the restaurant. The cozy, intimate feel was perfect. Although a bit crowded (always a great sign), our dinner experience was excellent. The crab cake appetizer is my favorite. Baked in a wood-fire over, this crab cake is - unquestionable - the best I have eaten. All crab, and topped with tropical fruits chutney and a side of greens. nomnomnom! For main course, I had the salmon special. Salmon crusted in brown sugar, topped with guava and served with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. Salmon was cooked perfectly. I hate seeing the albumin come out (white stuff). This one had zero. It really was done perfectly. Texture, seasoning, flavor were all on point. One of the best salmon's I have had for sure. For dessert, the guava and cheese pastry is NOT to be missed. If you love guava, please try it. It's like a fancy pastelito. Served with vanilla ice cream. A treat to make you happy for days to come. As always, service was perfect. Staff is very courteous and attentive. Can't wait to be back!!

2.5..... service is great, ambiance is great, but the food.. mehh... I've had better. Went there for lunch, it's a small place, and it gets packed! It's the Doctors that work around the area, families, and others that fill this place! We ordered the special of the day, rissotto with pork loin and the fish special with a mango salsa on top. Tid bits: - the Risotto with pork loin and vegetables: pork loin was tasty, very good, and had bacon strip around the loin, the risotto was very tasty (like when you feel it has a LOT of flavour), and the vegetables... I like garlic.. but these were Garlic vegetables which was a bit too much for my taste - the fish was good, specially the mango salsa, it was served with the garlic vegetables too - the lunch specials came with either soup of the day or a salad, the soup was a lentil soup which had a home made feel, salad was ok The price was a bit steep, for 2 people, appetizer, main course, dessert, $60!!! It's a bit steep for a lunch. Sorry but I don't think I would go back. If I go out to eat, it's to have something I can't make at home... and this is not it.

My sister and a family friend had recommended this place so I came for Mother's Day with my family. The service was good, the food was subpar at best. My mom and I had to send the food back cause our plates were cold. The dessert tasted as if it came from a box and for the price, you're better off at Nunzio's or even randazzo's in the Gables. The decorking fee is RIDICULOUS ($22) and you're only allowed to bring one bottle for the table. Overall, an ok experience but definitely won't come back - not worth it in every sense of the word.

It's the best kept secret in West Kendall! For was delicious, service was excellent, and ambience was cozy and romantic. I had the yellow tail snapper with tomato basil risotto and my husband had the filet. Quality and freshness were A+, the risotto was exquisite and perfectly cooked. We will definitely go again! Make sure to call in about 30-45 min before you go to put your name down. The place is small and it gets full on the weekends. See you there!

The first time I went to this restaurant with the family, I was in love with the food. I ordered the pumpkin raviolis and we also ordered the specials. The specials were absolutely delicious. The prime ribs on the pasta was tender and exquisite especially the mushroom risotto. Our meals tasted so fresh. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate mousse. What was really good about the mousse was that it was fluffy an not too strong of a flavor. Just right. I came back again and my second experience was not all that great. In love with the pumpkin raviolis, I decided to order them again but apparently it was out of the menu because the waiters were told that nosey customers like the dish. Really? Cause I was told they were amazing. Of course, I was upset but I ordered something. I ordered the pear gorgonzola but it wasn't anything special plus you can get this type of dish anywhere. When it came for dessert, I asked for the chocolate mousse and again they didn't have it. Twice I got upset because my hopes for getting two dishes that enjoyed so much was gone. Apparently that was my first and last dish the first time I went. After experiencing this place the second time, I've decided not to come back.

Have been here a hand full of times for lunch......food and service has been good (not outstanding) Tonight my husband and I went for a last minute dinner.....soup was great and so was the salmon carpaccio...... I ordered the salmon special.....it was overcooked, fishy and only ate half of it......the waiter came and asked me if liked it and wanted to take it home.....i told him no and that i really didn't like it. He looked confused and said he would send over the owner.....well he never came and they brought the bill with the salmon on it.....so why ask if you like it.....if they don't care... last time going there....wow

I expected way more that the food and service we got. First mistake was going with our son. THEY ARE NOT CHILD FRIENDLY!! We walked in and the hostess gave us horrible attitude and told us we had to wait because we had a child. We left. We decided to give it another try. There's barely any lighting. The portions of food are tiny and they apparently changed their menu from the time we went to check it out. I asked if I would be able to get something off the menu and was given a "YOU GET WHATEVER IS ON THE MENU" Geeez, great customer service, yet again. You're seated really close to everyone so don't expect to have any type of convo that you want people listening in on.

It's like when someone has a spicy secret to tell you and when they do... you think...that's all? Perhaps it was overhyped by my fellow Elite Yelpers, but given this was the place I chose to celebrate my anniversary dinner I expected more. Reservations were made with the added note of "my anniversary". No special table reserved, nothing out of the ordinary. Just sat down - regularly. Point deduction. This place, albeit located in a strip mall is actually pretty cozy inside. The kitchen is open so if you like to see the Chef's cook, you'll have dinner and a show. The service was just OK. I counted 10 active tables, with 2 waiters and 1 assistant for a Monday evening. Our waiter was even fielding phone calls while attending to tables. Not very appealing. Point deduction. Food wise, here we go. Wine list - not as we expected. They had a vast selection of high priced wine bottles, the cheapest was upper $30s. They even had a special list with wines priced well over $200. Found this to be a little overachieving, given the location (it's Kendall not Brickell Key). Ordered the Bell Clos Meomi Pinot Nior - great wine. $36. Appeitizers - not really much to choose from. I've seen better selection at (gulp) Olive Garden. We decided to order something normal - Calamari. Normal is what we got. No special twist on the Calamari, just fried rings with marinara sauce. Meh. Entrees - Wifey ordered a seafood entree w/truffle oil (Mare Monti) and I ordered the special Short Rib w/Risotto. Both dishes were really good - this was the highlight of the night. The truffle oil wasn't too powerful and the short ribs were extremely tender. Portion size was perfect, enough to fill us up and have some to take home. Points added. Dessert - Tiramisu. Good - however a little too perfectly square. Was this previously frozen? Meh. Overall: It's Just OK the skirt barely moved (more like a pencil skirt rather than a tennis skirt). Would have rather gone to Trattoria Dolce Vita on SW 137th, but they were remodeling. Sorry - but my experience here doesn't deserve a second visit.

This place is my wife and my favorite place to go for the "around the corner" family-style Italian Hispanic restaurant with a server who gives you the personal touch, and knows you by name (never been served by anyone by my friend Omar, there, he's awesome). Exceptional food, always mix up the menu with great specials, and never been disappointed by the food or service. This place is a true hidden gem!

The ambience and location is great. Very intimate & romantic. I came here because I read good reviews and I have to say I was disappointed with the food itself. Although, the Service was good - the Plates were small portions and very overpriced, about 30pp for just an entree. The osso bucco was good but not excellent and the parpadelle lacked flavor. I will not be returning.

This place is my all time favorite! It is delicious. We go once a month and never get tired of it. I've been going for the past 3 years and have never been disappointed. Their risotto is amazing. The service is amazing! No other places like it.

Secreto is located in a small shopping center, but don't let that fool you,it is a hidden jewel. A beautiful Secret. This restaurant is small, but big in many ways. It is nicely decorated, beautiful paintings hang on the walls. A romantic ambiance feels the room. The food is Delicious. I had the Crab Ravioli covered with a Lobster Sauce and served with two jumbo shrimps. Bread was warm and fresh. The service is Excellent from the moment you enter until the very end. I'll definitely be back.

The atmosphere is wonderful. Dover, the manager, always has a kind word and his service and attention to his guests is nearly impeccable. The food is phenomenal. Last time I went I had short-ribs over truffled mushroom risotto. Everything in the restaurant tastes amazing, especially coupled with a nice glass of tinto. Fantastic experience. Will return again and again and again.

If you are looking for an intimate, friendly restaurant with delicious food, this is your place. We had the ossobuco and swordfish, which were both perfectly cooked. The beef carpaccio was not my favorite but the fresh mozarrella and tomatoes were spot on. There was a little bit of a wait for a table but well worth the wait. The service was excellent and attentive. They say this place is not good for kids but we brought our kids and we were fine. We definitely will be back for more.

I actually feel really bad giving this place a 2 because the service was great and so was the ambience and decor of the restaurant but the food was terrible. We had the Carpaccio di Salmone, Zuppa di Mare, Sea Bass and the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. The Carpaccio di Salmone had too much sauce so I couldn't taste the Salmon. The Zuppa di Made barely had any seafood. The Sea Bass had too much lemon so I don't know how good it was because the lemon over powered the fish. You can't really mess up Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo but even that was substandard. Not sure if the other plates are good but these four weren't any good.

The first time I tried visiting, we were asked if we had reservations - on a Tuesday night. The place was pretty full, but I wasn't going to wait over an hour for a weeknight sitting. Finally returned with reservations on another weeknight (I get there and only 1 table was occupied) and I was actually very disappointed. The risotto with shrimp was the only dish that was worth it. The pear fiocchi was killed by an overpowering pink sauce (don't recall reading that on the menu, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it - kind of blasphemous)...the crab ravioli weren't that great either. I wish I could speak about the appetizer - apparently it really wasn't stellar like the rest of its cast. I was hoping for some divine revelation behind this venue and all the buzz, but even the zabaglione was under par. Hate to say it because I was hoping this would be Kendall's secret gem, but other Italian joints are definitely within reach...for better prices and quality. Caffe Di Notte being one of them, for the West Miami diners. Last thing that really irked me (one of my dining pet peeves) soda is available by the bottle. ugh! Maybe I don't know enough about f&b costs in the restaurant biz, but how hard is it to just serve free refills. Shouldn't that be a given? I don't even drink while I eat so i rarely even get a refill, but it's just annoying- especially when they come all the way to the table with it and have to pour it in front of your face to indirectly warn you it's coming from a bottle (or can)! Between both experiences I give 1 star for our dinner service. The waiter was actually decent.

This tiny place gets packed. It has been at this location for a while and just recently found out it's a restaurant. Although the service was a little rough and prices are a bit steep, this place is definitely a hidden gem in Kendall. It's a nice change from the usual corporate chain restaurants found in this area. I really enjoyed the crab cake appetizer and seafood lasagna. I will definitely go again to try other dishes.

  • Chris C.

The stuffed pork chop was out of hand The lobster ravioli hit the spot Crab cake at the start was like eating dessert at the beginning without ruining my appetite. The only part I wouldn't mind changing was the server saying all the specials of the day (not on a menu) but you know what...I didn't hate it. I listened, ordered and enjoyed. This place should be a secret no more.

I love this place. I really enjoy eating there, because their food is good, the service is awesome and the price is the right value for the food they serve. I will never stop to choose this restaurant around Kendall. You can see the kitchen but inside you could not see any stressful people, in the other hands you could feel they love what they are doing. The Server is the best!!! I prefer to get the specials, because everyday they have different dishes.

Ok so it's Friday night and my wife and I have heard about this place so we decide to go ahead and give it a try. We didn't expect it to be as fancy as it is considering it's in a shopping center, we got there and wow did we realize we were under dressed. Now the space is a little small not and there is not much of a variety. As the waiter gave us the specials of the night of which i chose the corvina with vegetables, taste wise it was freaking delicious, presentation was really nice, the price I feel personally is a little overpriced, that would make me think twice about having it again other than that I would have it again. My wife's fiocchiotti was good taste good but not the best we've had. One thing that drove me away not happy was the fact that the waiter didn't mention cheesecake on their desert menu and next thing I know the waiter from the table next to us at a table away offered the couple which he was attending to have a cheesecake desert made for them and said it would be no problem, why didn't my wife and get offered that ? Yes of course I would of had it. Also found it strange to see all three waiters huddle up in the back and drinking wine never knew it was part of the job to drink wine while working, also we were asked by two different waiters the deserts which I found strange and to be a disorganized service team. Now would we go back? not so sure.

Very good food. Lamb shank on risotto is excellent. Tiramisu and coffee were ok, but nothing special. Im a big fan of the neighborhood/family type restaurant. I avoid the big chains whenever possible. But i have to say it feels tight in this place. Not very much space in between tables.

Alcohol makes everything better, with that said, I went to Secreto for lunch and I tried the fettuccine Alfredo, it was tasty, I mean you can't really mess this up. Maybe I expected a more rich sauce, I thought it was just ok, yet eatable... Our waiter was great, very attentive and pleasant. The Riesling was just right, I will give it a try and maybe try a more non-commercialize plate... :)

Honestly, the food was good but not the best ever. I had a pork special that was too sweet and the meat dry. My husband had a short rib special that was good but so rich that he was sick that night. Furthermore the location is claustrophobically small with tables all on top of each other and no where to make the long wait for a table. I believe this restaurant would benefit from switching to reservations only on the weekend until they find a larger location. What makes this restaurant more desirable is that they are one of the very few upscale restaurants in Kendall.

Excellent service! Decent food. I think for the prices they could be a little more creative with their dishes. The corkage fee is painful at $20, for a neighborhood restaurant. Otherwise a very pleasant dinner!

Dear Secreto, I have been looking for real Italian food forever! Sadly I settle for Olive Garden and their "Italian Cheeses" but no more! Next time I'm craving homemade pasta, fresh carpaccio, and creamy risotto I know where to go! I don't know why you are tucked into a tiny strip mall off of Kendall Drive and 117th but it's okay I'll make the trip. I loved how warm and toasty your bread was and how the olive oil, balsamic, Parmesan dip complimented it nicely. Your carpaccio was fresh, the calamari was lacking a little salt but all was forgotten when I recieved my homemade fettuccine with shrimps, scallops, sundried tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, and white wine sauce. My husbands risotto was also delicious and creamy. I do have a bone to pick with you, I had great appetizers, a delicious dinner, and I was anxiously waiting for dessert. Our waiter who was just the right kind of attentive not overbearing recommended the creme brulee! I LOVE CREME BRULEE so I was all bring it on! Unfortunately it was runny womp womp. The vanilla flavor was right on, as was the sugar crust but the custard didn't set. Maybe next time because I will definitely be back to try the Osso Bucco or Chicken Tartufo I saw on your menu. Yours Truly, Michelle :)

Secreto is so good I wish I could keep it a secret! But as a dedicated yelper it is my duty to divulge all the little gems I find! Sooooo here we go....Lets start with the basics, its tiny! I would assume they have less than 15 tables but don't be fooled this little restaurant has ambiance galore!!! Its dark and romantic and the service is impeccable! My wine glass was consistently more than half way full! Now down to the goods...the FOOD! We had the fiochi to start, creamy but very delicate. The homemade pasta makes all the difference. Main courses, I had the ossobucco, succulent and rich and they layer the risotto underneath so it soaks up all the juices. Yummmmmm! My boyfriend had the snapper, I'm not really a seafood kinda gal but he seemed to think it was spectacular! :) Add in a bottle of wine for the bargain price $101!!!!!! Forget Macaroni Grill people, Secreto is where its at!!!!

This is my husband and I's favorite restaurant. Since the first night, we fell in love with the food, the ambiance, and the service.

This place really is nice and the food is great. The owner really makes the effort to make you feel at home.

If you want real italian food in a comfortable, intimate environment, this is your spot. the owner is hands on and genuinely concerned about the food AND your experience. Prices are more than fair but the key is the food. The food is EXCELLENT. The pasta is cooked properly (al dente) and everything tastes fresh. It gets busy at lunch and I view that as a good sign. The fish is excellent, salads are good. This places is solid, predictable and the food is as good as there is in the Miami area. If you have had better italian food, please throw the name of the place out. Another great aspect of this place, it's very low key. no scene at all. People here for good food and that's it.

I have never been inside this restaurant. In fact my boyfriend once ordered to go and brought some pasta to my house. The pasta was very good. I still need to go and sit down for the full experience but i am sure i will not be dissapointed

Food was pretty good - a bit overpriced for what it was, but for a once-in-a-while stop, it's not too bad. The servers were very attentive, which is great, and the atmosphere is a shocker. For a tiny shopping strip with a Verizon wireless and a Food Spot, you wouldn't expect a secreto like Secreto...that's what makes it 5 stars.

Been here many times. Seems to get better every time. Both the food and the service are phenomenal. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing restaurant !! The food was so worth the price ! It might be in Kendall but it feels like coral gables , hidden gem !

Once you get over your fear that Secreto's location in a small strip mall will reflect poorly on your meal, you will come to realize that by the middle of your entree you won't remember you are two doors down from a convenience store. The service and ambiance is truly top notch. I loved the various artwork (for sale of course), the volume, position of tables, candlelight, etc. The owner and servers bent over backwards to ensure we were taken care of. My only slight criticism is the menu is not very diverse or overly creative. We enjoyed the antipasto platter as an appetizer. I really wanted one of the pasta entrees but it contained shrimp (I'm allergic)... luckily they offered to make it with chicken instead and it was very good. I just wish there had been more options. We will definitely try it again though - a great little restaurant overall.

The food here Is excellent. This is one of the better restaurant in the Kendall area. Not cheap, but worth it. Their specials change quite a bit which keeps it interesting. A great choice for a special occasion if you live in the area and don't want to go far.

As we walked in they stated that you needed to wear closed shoes. My father was wearing a armani shirt, shorts and sandals they refused to let us in. I would never visit again. they were rude and unprofessional. After all we live in south Florida. It was a total discrimination.

This place was amazing. Honestly some of the best Italian food I've had in a while. Its not a cheap restaurant but the quality of service, attention, and food/portions was excellent. They even turned down the AC when we asked them to. This was a top notch spot. Its a bit small for my taste but it didn't feel like our neighbors in the next table were up on our space. These people are definitely a restaurant to check out in Kendall.

They have an attitude towards customers that is totally unwelcoming. Saturday we went there planning to eat at 7:00PM, we didn't have a reservation because they don't take them. The tables were occupied but no one was waiting at the moment. A couple got up to leave and yet the cold as ice attendant told us that it would be an hour and a half wait. This is not the first time that getting seated has been a problem. A few month back we went and had to wait for someone to make up his mind if we could get to sit or not because they were going to have a customer in a wheel chair. There are many places in our area with wonderful food and great service; where they actually treat you with respect and apreciate your patronage. Secreto is not.

I came here because of the good reviews I had seen on Yelp and boy do I regret it. I walked in at about 8:30pm and the place was empty! Not a good sign, but HEY I still had high hopes based on the Yelp reviews. The service was "ok". I was about to get my waiter a bed for him as he seemed he was about to pass out on our table. Then, I was going to get myself a bed because he was putting us to sleep. Besides that, he seemed like he was knowledgeable about their wines and specials. I ordered the Pork Chop stuffed with Fontina Cheese and Sausage and my mom had the Tortellini Stuffed with Pear. The Pork Chop was the driest pork chop I have ever had. The bed of mashed potatos it was sitting on was definitely not from scratch, which bothers me when you are paying almost $30 for a dish. My mom's tortellini was a bit tastier although it wasn't GREAT. The sauce was missing some consistency. The place is nice and cozy, the food is dry and bland. Sorry Secreto, but not my cup of tea.

I must admit, my memories of coming to this place were all great, great food, great service, a bit overpriced but it's always a rare find to find good Italian restaurants in Kendal so it was always worth the dollar. I actually befriended the original owner which I hope he reads this and takes it in a very constructive way, for I myself am a business owner in the same industry and I know a thing or two about proper customer etiquette. As I brainstormed on good places for a meal, the thought of coming here with my fiancée the day before July 4th crossed my mind as I thought it would be nice to have a nice quality meal in the vicinity, so we came here, around 9pm, the moment we pull into the parking lot we were approached by a gentleman at the door letting us know that we couldn't come in just because we were both wearing casual shoes, if I turned around and changed them we would be able to enter..I felt offended.. I wasn't aware there was a dress code to this place, for their one table I noticed inside were dressed very casual, I've owned two successful restaurant, I dress properly for every occasion and to have a patron turn away business just because inappropriate shoe selection to his standards, it's just disappointing.. My average ticket on dinner for two in this place has always been between $150 to $200, so here comes my suggestion for you sir: next time you decide to turn away a customer in front of his girlfriend/ fiancée or wife, take into consideration that you're not only losing the sale for the night, but in truth it ends up costing you a whole lot more, future visits from same party and also the not so healthy word of mouth you'll get from someone like me that I also have customers of my own and in the past I have always refer them to you for a great food experience. if there was a dress code been enforced, please enforce it tastefully so your prospect customer does not leave offended and embarrassed and happily returns in a future time.. For You have regretfully lost my business in your restaurant

Heidi is right - very, very, very, small however, I forget about how small it is as I get lost in the truly amazing display of artwork they have! Lots of Cuban art by local artists that is simply beautiful! Their wine list is good and the food is good but be warned: If you order the "special of the day" without asking for the price you will end up with a HUGE bill. I almost regurgitated it back up when I saw the bill! Yikes!

Whether you want to have a romantic dinner for two or go with a group of friends in a quaint little restaurant that serves up some of the best risotto in South Florida, Secreto is for you. I never order from the menu since I always have one of their specials. Their soups are phenomenal and the short ribs, when available, are full of meat and extremely flavorful. Their fish is always fresh...try the corvina if it's on special. The service is quite simply out of this world. I will continue to return to this gem of a restaurant for years to come.

My husband and I went with another couple here for a nice dinner and we definitely were presently surprised. The food was really good and the wine selection was pretty decent. This restaurant was a bit on the small side and the restroom was also tiny but good things sometimes come in small packages. The waiter could have been more attentive but overall the service was good. The only thing that ruined this pleasant evening was running into my husband's ex-boss, who is a total douche bag!! Of course, the restaurant had no fault in this. And what are the chances that they sat him next to our table!!

Planning to take my girlfriend out to a date somewhere in Kendall, I started a conversation on where to head. After some suggestions, I ended up choosing Secreto. Once again, my fellow yelpers did not let me down. This place truly is a secret as it is kind of a hole in the wall but I'm not complaining. The less people know about this place, the better for me. That way I won't have to wait. We began our meal with some of the homemade fresh bread with the olive oil, vinegar, parmesan dip. This was absolutely amazing. We were going through the menu and although it is not as extensive as some other restaurants, the descriptions of all the dishes sounded delicious and made it extremely hard to decide. On top of that, the waiter informed us of the days specials. After a few minutes of hard decision making, I decided on the Lamb Shank with Risotto and my girlfriend decided on the Crab Ravioli with shrimp. The pasta here is homemade and you can taste the difference. And everything else was absolutely perfect. The prices were extremely reasonable and we even got dessert. The molten dark chocolate lava cake with ice cream was divine, much like everything else we tried. I will definitely return purely based on the food. And amazing service doesn't hurt either.

The restaurant is pretty but it's in a strip mall. Very mediocre flavor, overly seasoned and not very light or vibrant. Everything was really heavy and heavy handed. Also, the food is RIDICULOUSLY over priced. 30 bucks for a lamb shank on risotto? which maybe I would have paid 15 bucks for. They charged me 2.75 for a side of olive oil because I wanted more for my bread. Gimme a break. Not even in the gables. They should either improve their food or cut their prices 50%. We were a party of three with 4 apps, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. We also had 4 glasses of wine and it was 180 with tip. Crazy.

I generally agree with the reviews posted to date. I literally tripped over this place while running some errands in the little strip mall it's in. Me and the wife were looking for somewhere to just get out of the house on a Saturday night, and I decided to go back there with her and give this mystery place a try. The only clue I had of what was to come was the single table outside with a white table cloth draped over it. Hmmmm. We were not prepared for what was to come. Rather than a "family" Italian joint that ladles tomato sauce on everything they serve, we were treated to fine Italian dining at Kendall prices, with all non-special entrees under $20. Try doing that in the Gables. We started by splitting a rollatini of beef wrapped around a combination of marinated greens and potato sticks. Unusual, but I love potato sticks and will take them wherever I find them! We couldn't resist the specials, of which there were 7 or so. I had a remarkable creamy risotto with a perfectly prepared hog snapper filet on top, topped with a tomato based garnish. What a knockout! My wife had perfectly prepared duck breast in a rosemary sauce with mashed potatoes. We finished with a tiramisu, which was a little heavy with the coffee and light on the liquor. All that, plus 2 glasses of a very nice Chardonnay and 2 coffees plus tip came to $110. Service was good not great, and the ambiance is as good as a Kendall strip mall can be, and certainly cozy and comfy. An unexpected surprise flying way under radar.

My wife and I were trying desperately to figure out where to have our anniversary dinner. We already had made reservations at a local seafood place we frequent. I got online and found this place while she was getting ready. I placed a call and 20 minutes later we were being seated. All I can say is WOW. We started off with a nice shrimp topped tort, stuffed with apple and goat cheese, with a strawberry sauce drizzled over it. We shared a bottle of malbec with our meal. I had seared tuna madallions with risotto. She had a saffron and lime infused risotto topped with a fork tender braised short rib. Dessert consisted of tiramisu and Creme brûlée alongside espresso. The food was devine. The service, extremely hospitable. Prices were very agreeable for our experience. Will definitely repeat

I was very skeptical considering the location. However the place is very nicely decorated although it is very small. The food was very good and the risotto was excellent. The service was also good. Finally, a nice restaurant in Kendall.

Excellent, excellent, excellent!!!!! Great atmosphere, great service, delicious food. The food will melt in your mouth and get your taste buds jumping. Do not bother to look at the menu because of all the great specials and the great service to guide you to what you want. Will return soon for another date night soon.

I'll make this short and to the point. Service is ok, not great. In fact, it's pretty darn slow. Food is okay to very good. The fish dinners were the weakest links at our table, while the pastas were very good. Ambiance is good but yes it's a small space. Prices are too high. Don't think I'll be making a second visit.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
