I must say that this is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Miami. The service, quality of food, wine and food selection is 5 star. The no menu experience in which the chef comes out and prepares a dinner based on what you like and don't like is great!!!

My dining experience at Romeo's Cafe was beyond doubt, 5-stars. From start to finish, our 6-course meal was delectable and the experience felt like something unparalleled to most places in Miami. Our party of 6 was seated promptly and the Chef himself, Romeo came to our table to introduce himself and elaborate on his concept of no menus and gather our food preferences. The portions are small and there is time between the courses, so you feel satisfied at the end of the meal versus feeling gorged. So after opening a bottle of Napa Cabernet, Chef Romeo started us off with a delicious salmon carpaccio topped with capers. Our second course was home made pasta in venison sauce. The pasta was wide and flat and had that home-made-from-scratch look, and most importantly, taste! I had never tried deer before but Chef Romeo's venison sauce was meaty, saucy, and perfect! The third course, seafood risotto, had to have been one of the most memorable courses. The risotto itself was soft, creamy and buttery perfection and the fresh, crunchy sea food complimented it exceptionally well. It was excellent. The risotto was followed by sea bass topped with a white wine sauce and lima beans. The chunky piece of sea bass was sooo juicy and just melted off itself the moment you put your fork through it. The final course was an option of beef, pork, or duck. I went with the pork and as soon as I tried it, I knew I had made the perfect choice! The pork chop came in a sweet and mildly spicy sauce with zucchini on the side. It had minimal fat, but just a little bit and all the flavors together made you just want to close your eyes and say, "wow". My boyfriend ordered the duck and although I don't prefer duck myself, I tried it and it was very tasty and tender. Dessert options were pear tarte, tiramisu, or chocolate soufflé. Our table unanimously opted for the chocolate soufflé. It was a ball of fluffy chocolate perfection with a sweet, white, creamy sauce around it, paired with a bubbly dessert wine. We ended our meal with chamomile tea. Aside from the spectacular food, what I love most about this restaurant is its unique and intimate ambiance. It is definitely a romantic spot! I love the concept of no menu, as you are able to enjoy your whole experience with whoever you're with and not worry about whether you will like what you ordered or not. You are assured that Chef Romeo will take care of you. I noticed that Chef Romeo tries to remember all of his guests and their preferences, which gives the experience a personal touch. He makes you feel like you are his personal guest, from the moment you are seated until he walks you out the door and thanks you for coming. Just a side note, this isn't somewhere to wear shorts to. Not a casual place. My party dressed up very nicely and I was appalled to see a man wearing shorts and a polo shirt.

For what its worth it's overpriced. Everything is drowned in sauce. Maybe Romeo's cafe is not about the food but rather the experience of being surprised? I was not impressed with the food. I will say the salmon carpaccio was very good, the rest left me disappointed. The atmosphere is lovely because it is intimate, very small inside. Definitely looks and feels like restaurant you could find in Italy or Europe. Great staff and very attentive!

Delicious 6 meal course! The service was amazing and it's obvious that Romeo loves what he does. He caters to what you like and his food is a piece of art! Excellent!!!

The lack of a menu provides for a unique dining experience. The chef/owner prepares your meal according to your likes and dislikes. Our 6-course meal was wonderful! He goes out of his way to make sure you are happy with the food. It was our second visit , and is a place we want to eat every time my friend is in the area.Wow, what a delightful experience! The meal was fantastic and the having the Chef come to the table was a treat. The surprise of what was coming next let to the dining experience. The food was flavorful and well suited to our taste. You may think the portions are small but by the time you are finished you will be full. I am not sure what some other reviewers are looking for but this was one of the best meals she have had in some time, including Europe, NYC, LA, Chicago, etc. It is pricey but what was delivered was worth every cent compared to faulty meals I have paid a little less for but received far lower food quality. I am sure the kitchen has staples they have positioned in advance of the chef's visit (unless you expect truly singular meal prepared by a single chef which would be $600/plate and up!). However, our table of 3 each received different dishes all through the service, based on what we told Romeo. 6 courses which were delicately prepared and sauced (of which I am a tough critic). Afterwards, I was satiated but not uncomfortable, which was surprising due to the generous portions served. I will return again and I was to thank Chef Romeo for a wonderful meal and experience. Please move to São Paulo , so that she can often have your dishes, actually scratch that, I need her to come often and pay me the visit. Muito obrigada, um abraço .

My dining experience at Romeo's was a total let down. This "unique " no menu, custom made dinner is total B.S. Yes the chef comes to the table but for a total of 20 seconds to ask what you don't like to eat and if you have any allergies. Then before you know it, two and a half hours later you end up eating the same prefixed meal everyone els in the restaurants is having. My wife and I will never go back to this place. .I've lived in Miami my whole life and consider my self a very well rounded individual and feel like I know a thing or two about fine dining and a unique culinary expediency. My friend this joint is anything but great. ... it's pretty much a scam. ..stay clear away from it...or you too will get burned. Trust me for the price you end up paying and the quality of food presented there are many other places in Miami that you can choose from.

I went to Romeo's Cafe several times now, and most of my experiences there were excellent. However, one time when I went with a large number of company, it took forever to get each dish and there was close to no service. Probably, their kitchen and waiters were overwhelmed. As compared with recently developed fancy restaurants in Brickell and the Beaches, Romeo's decor is somewhat old, dark, and religious. This small cozy place can make you feel as if you are in a long-established restaurant in Italy, serving nice food and wine. It's worth going on a special occasion.

I came here for a Valentine's dinner last night with my boyfriend and I must say that I was totally surprised. It is truly a hidden gem tucked away between the everyday Cuban corner cafe shops. My boyfriend made reservations a week prior and as soon as we came they sat us down. The staff was so attentive the second we got there. It is a six course meal so be ready to wait in between meals. The chef comes to your table to ask what you like or don't like and if you're allergic to something. We said "we eat everything" so I'm pretty sure other people did too. Yes we ended up eating the same as another table but you DO have the option of sending the dish back. It's an experience like no other I've had in Miami. I would definitely go back. It's a dim lit restaurant and everyone who says this place is not that great doesn't appreciate what chef Romeo is trying to create here.

Fantastic experience. Very intimate and great service. They catered to our tastes, our likes and dislikes. Very romantic and was a perfect spot for our date night. Definitely would recommend if you are willing to pay a few extra $$ for dinner.

OMG! It was very late on a Saturday night but they were gracious enough to feed us... And so happy they did! The food... The fabulous personal service... The whole experience was very memorable... Very Novel 'old school' European dining. Your server sits you right away and soon comes back... "Chef wants to know all your food preferences and limitations". There are no menus per se .. Bottom line, the Chef proceeds to prepare an AMAZING meal, just for you!! By the way.. Anything you are not COMPLETELY satisfied with will be replace by something else! Per your specifications. It was just a great experience,.. This is a 'no rush' dining proposition, but for certain one you will not soon forget.

This was the most mediocre meal I have had all year. The setting and atmosphere are extremely antiquated, with terrible taste. Service was ok, however the server did not even remember that someone in our party did not eat meat (they asked). Unfortunately, the food was what disappointed me the most. Of the six plates, not one would be worth remembering. The fish was completely overwhelmed by the egg coating. The pork was undercooked. The risotto was undercooked. Very disappointed.

Wow and wow! I had this saved from a week or so ago and just forgot. My first experience here was a few years ago. Not a thing has changed - and that is a good thing. First - heads up. There are only two seatings a night and the place is tiny. I am guessing it may seat up to 30 people. Make your reservations weeks in advance and leave your credit card at the door. It will set you back a few pesos. The service is to die for and the menu is really catered around your likes and desires. My guess is that there are ingredients in the kitchen from which to work and they are adjusted as needed. My first 4 course meal here had one course the same as my date's - past there they were different. The portions are quite large and excellent for sharing. The tables for two allow people to sit together closely enough to sample. This is an experience and not a meal. Drink your wine, enjoy your companion and have a conversation as the table is cleared for the next course. If you have never had a "blind" dinner, this is the place to do it. I have been 3x over the years and have never been disappointed. What not 5 stars? The tables are too closely arranged, not romantic; The lighting is too dim; Parking is poor. Besides that, take the plunge, go to the "good" side of Miami and feel special!

I'm giving it 3 stars because the first time I went with my husband everything was absolutely amazing! It was probably my favorite restaurant that time. The food was delicious and the ambiance was very romantic. The second time, however, wasn't as great. The risotto we ordered wasn't cooked properly and the other meals weren't as great as the first time.

I went to Romeo's several years ago for the first time and it was very good. My boyfriend took me back a couple of weeks ago to celebrate our 6 year anniversary. Needless to say, it was as good as I remembered it. There is no set menu. Romeo comes out and asks you if you like certain things, and you can also tell him what you don't like. The menu is essentially a surprise. I had a deliciously light pinot that the waiter recommended to me as well. Anyways, the 6-course menu was completely outrageous. The rabbit and mushroom fettuccine was simply perfect (poor little rabbit =/). That was admittedly my favorite dish. By the time course 5 came along, I was pretty much stuffed and was not able to enjoy it was much - so pace yourself! It's not cheap - $90/p without drinks or extras. But, it's great for a special occassion.

Shortly after you arrive and order drinks and such, the Chef Romeo comes out and asks about allergies and likes and dislikes. After that, your dinner lies solely in his hands. Some dishes were absolutely spectacular but others were alright. Service was great, Chef Romeo came out to check on us more than once. I wound recommend it mostly for experience alone.

Where do I begin? I read the reviews, both good and bad, and decided to give Romeo's a try. My darling girlfriend tried to warn me that this restaurant was most definitely a typical Miami scam, but I talked her into giving it a try and invited my parents along. Oh, I wish I knew then what I know now. The whole "no menu" thing is 100% a gimmick. Romeo ambles out to your table and asks a few questions, but the menu you're served has little to do with the answers you give. We all gave different answers and yet all our courses were identical. Everyone is getting a week old carpaccio straight from the fridge, like it or not. I did not. You could tell that the carpaccio and even some other hot courses had been on the plate for a while, because the food items were hard to peel off and left a stain on the plate. All of the dishes were full of obviously canned ingredients. I'm talking obvious. And the sugary "sauces" that smothered the dishes were foul. My girlfriend got a duck breast that was doused in a sweet and syrupy raspberry sauce that then reappeared in our dessert. It was a Friday night, and we were the only table there. But at the prices they charge for their canned food, they definitely turned a nice profit for the night. The bill for the four of us was nearly $600. Not a joke. For canned ingredients and microwaved food. Romeo is not a chef. He is a scam artist. You've been warned. P.S. Our waiter was nice, and he helped us pick out a wine that we enjoyed. Don't blame him.

We tried this restaurant because we just joined Primecard and received a 50% introductory discount. Had we spent full price, we would have been VERY disappointed. Even at 50%, we felt it was overpriced for the quality of the food. This is a very old-school menu and restaurant -- it reminds me of suburban New Jersey style Italian restaurants in the 80's. Frankly, it hasn't received an update in probably 30 years and while it's very dark, we spotted torn upholstery. As for.the menu, pasta and risotto appetizers were ok but when our entree arrived - duck breast -- it was a tiny piece, leathery and overcooked swimming in a bright red puddle (food coloring?) of gooey and oversweet raspberry sauce. We suspected it had been pre-cooked. Definitely not good. The salmon carpaccio everyone raves about is literally about 3 forkfuls. Desserts were ok but they had run out of 3 of the 6 which were usually offered. We made the best of it,service was good and the experience kind of quaint - a trip down memory lane. But I would definitely not recommend this restaurant, especially for the price.

How does one begin to describe one of the best meals of their life? I kid not, after years of travel and restaurant attempts, I had no idea that I'd experience the best in the tiniest, unpretentious little place tucked into a Coral Way shopping strip. My husband and I wanted to celebrate our 5th anniversary with an amazing meal and after being a bit overwhelmed by possibilities I put out a plea and was directed to Cafe Romeo's (which wasn't even on my radar). A 4-6 course prix fix meal determined on the spot by the restaurant namesake himself at either $60 or $90pp, it got my attention. We booked our 7:30pm spot and were set. I was a bit concerned when we walked in and were only one of two taken tables but the place filled in (24 or so seats) quickly after our arrival. We had originally intended on the 4 course meal but decided to splurge and went with 6 instead. I noticed that most of the wine selections were on the light side and with good reason, chef puts out an array of flavors that any of the wines listed would compliment perfectly. The sodas were priced at $4 each and I expect with the intention to keep anyone from drinking them, this is not the place for ketchup or coke. We gave him carte blanche and were so glad we did. He started us off with salmon carpaccio, then on to the most incredible pear and gorgonzola raviolis with a sauce that was out of this world (the little small, toasty bread was exactly what we needed to slop up all the sauce off the plates. Our third course was veal atop a perfectly cooked risotto and then sea bass in white white sauce with lima beans. The main was a delicious pork loin in a sauce that must have come from the heavens and cooked apples that made me eyes water with joy. My husband was served duck in a raspberry sauce, he claims it was the best duck he's had in his life, crispy yet tender, I had to agree. For dessert I chose (the only choice one gets really) their pecan pie and my hubs the chocolate soufflé. Both were delicious but the pecan pie was perfection. Needless to say, it exceeded every expectation. I only wish I had cut back on the bread and had only one glass of wine instead of two to avoid the too full feeling that we carried for a bit after our meal. It was timed perfectly, though, with service that could put most places to shame. We plan to return again soon to indulge in whatever Chef Romeo might whip up for us. His love of food and his restaurant was apparent in every bite. Kudos to him for his passion and pursuit of perfection.

We had a lovely lunch here. After reading the reviews we were a little cautious given the "custom" meal isnt all that custom but we decided to go in for the experience. Food was delicious. The steak and cream sauces on two of the dishes we had were my favorites. The portion sizes were definitely on the smaller side especially for a $45/person lunch. I would recommend this for a romantic dinner/lunch or for a small group of people. If you're coming from out of town like we were.....rent a car to get here! Public transport is the pits and it's kind of hard to get a cab.

After years of wanting to go try Romeos, my husband took me for my birthday. The place is small and dark, decorated in a very old Italian style. As other reviews state, there is no menu. Romeo says each table gets their own menu, and we noticed that was true during our dinner. Romeo comes to the table and asks about your dislikes and allergies and then runs through some questions to understand your taste and preferences. We got the four course meal for $60 each. We had a special bottle of wine we wanted to drink for my birthday and brought that with us. The food was delicious - salmon carpaccio, lobster raviolis, a seabass a la francaise, and a risotto with filet mignon and truffle oil. As a treat because it was my birthday and we had selected the four courses instead of the six courses, Romeo gave us a chocolate souflee to share for dessert. That was delicious too. The food is very good and the service was amazing. The overall experience is worth going. The restaurant has been there for years and was definitely among the first restaurants in Miami to offer a unique dining experience way before Miami's culinary scene began to evolve.

Went here last weekend and opted for the 6 course dinner, which at $90 pp was quite steep. It was a very good meal (price notwithstanding). First, of course, Chef Romeo comes out to greet you and gives you the speech about his philosophy and asks you what you like or dislike so he can prepare the meal accordingly. After talking with him for a few minutes, he takes off to the kitchen to prepare the first course. As I've read on here in many reviews, it is often a carpaccio, which we were served as well. We had one beef carpaccio and one salmon carpaccio. The beef carpaccio was pretty good, but needed a little more seasoning. The salmon carpaccio was good (or so I was told as I don't like salmon). The second course was a delicious pear pasta that was served in a cream sauce. The pasta was cooked perfectly and had a nice sweetness but wasn't too sweet. The sauce it was served in was excellent as well. The third course was tuna, which was seared very well and was served with a sesame seed crust and kiwi fruit. It was definitely an interesting combination, but it was a little too sweet for me as I had a hard time finishing the dish since it was so sweet. The fourth course was a mushroom risotto, which also appears to be another popular dish here since a lot of reviews have mentioned it. I can't really complain about it at all, however, as it was fantastic. The risotto was cooked perfectly and I absolutely loved it. The seasoning was spot on as well. The fifth course for me were beef medallions served with grilled endives. The beef medallions were good, but I was only given two of them. I expect a little more since we are paying a lot of money. The endives were pretty standard-just grilled with some seasoning on them. The person I was with had duck as their fifth course which came with a raspberry sauce on it and they told me that it was very good and they enjoyed it a lot. Finally, as the sixth course the waiter asked us what we would like for dessert. The options were chocolate lava cake, pecan pie, and one other dish which I can't recall right now. I ordered the pecan pie which was okay, but nothing spectacular. The ice cream they served with it was very good, though. We also got the lava cake, which was too chocolatey for me, but it was good in the one bite that I had. All in all, it was a very pleasurable meal. It took about 2.5 hours, which is a long time, but I enjoy long meals every once in a while so it was a nice change of pace for me. The service was spot on and the waiter was always there to refill glasses and help us out. I would definitely go back here again, but at the price, I think I'd wait a little bit before coming back too often.

After coming to Romeo's several times, I realize that my short, basic review, doesn't do justice to this place and the effort that Chef puts into preparing great meals for his guests. There is no menu so he will come out and talk you and your fellow diners and find out likes and dislikes- with that, he walks back into the kitchen and prepares a wonderful 5 course meal that will be certainly satisfying. As a food enthusiast you cannot help it but to appreciate how a true professional makes use of his skills to bring all the ingredients together into a fantastic display of fare. The Romeo's experience is unique, culturally rich and very satisfying, I have come here to do business, to close deals, and to enjoy good company. However, given the wonderfully special affair that dining at Romeo's will certainly be, I would recommend that you come here with special people that mean more to you than just a transaction, this will enhance your experience and Romeo's treats will definitely add you to your bag of great experiences.

I should have gone by the reviews that I read online. But, me, just like everyone else went because I heard from so many other people how a great experience this restaurant was. I was totally disappointed. There is nothing special about this restaurant. The food they serve is the same food that is described by everyone else here on yelp. We were there for 2 1/2 hrs...that's how long it took us to get our dinner. It's expensive and the food is not impressive. The service was ok, they really do what they can..they keep giving you more toasted bread to keep you quiet while you waaaaaiiiiiitttttt for you dinner. The restaurant is really small and feels crowded.

This is the best place ever!!!!! I went today with my boyfriend for the first time. Everything deserves five stars: the food, the service, the ambiance. I do not have anything negative to say about it. Romeo was very attentive and the staff was great too. We will definetely get back. This is our little romantic spot in town.

It's expensive. Food was amazing, the whole "Chief comes to your table to chat with you about dishes" was a fun experience. Not knowing what you going to eat is a great surprise! Food just keeps coming. All dishes were absolutely amazing. Service was the best. I love this place !

I heard and read wonders about Romeo's Cafe. Regrettably, it was a major disappointment on a special occasion. The food was not impressive and just plain bad at times. My girlfriend and I went for Valentine's Day. I heard some fuss about reservations but was glad to secure a slot. No problem at all that we were seated thirty minutes later. We had an easy going spirit. What was worse was waiting through two hours and two bottles of wine to get through four courses of the worst food I have eaten anywhere. You have heard by now how The Chef, condescendingly, bases a so-called menu on your likes and dislikes. Except if you survey the guests, we all like the same exact garbage food. I am not kidding. the Ossobucco tasted like it had been simmering for 3 minutes in a Campbell's soup and ketchup reduction. Okay, the salmon carpaccio was decent. But he should call it the caper carpaccio. Like the caper that Romeo is passing onto his customers with the sorry excuse of "seabass" that he is hocking. Sorry friends, I've had sea bass and that was not it. It was pan baked in egg that my girlfriend described as having a tofu-like consistency. I'll take Fish and Chips from Long John's Silver thank you. The service was pleasant, if entirely inconsistent between parties. The waiters played favorites. That's always boneheaded. I don't mean to be vicious. We really are just being honest. We were really looking forward to finding a romantic gem to share friends. Until it became obvious that Romeo's should be charged with racketeering.

15 words or less: Food level does not match up to pricey daily changing prix fixe concept. 15 words or more: This place has some word of mouth reputation. A small, dark, ornate restaurant that offers what everyone says is a chef who cooks a special meal just for you. Not really. It really is a prix fixe concept where the chef changes the menu daily. While it is true he comes to your table and you get the spiel about how he believes in quality over quantity, and while it is true he asks what you like, don't like, and can't eat, for the most part you and everyone else in the restaurant get the same thing. You get a six course meal that starts with carpaccio, moves to pasta, then to fish, then to meat, and then to dessert. The romance: This is a special occasion restaurant. Is it romantic? Not for me and my wife. We found the tables were too close together so you basically are eating at what feels like a table for six. But the restaurant is dark and intimate so some will feel amorous. The food. For the most part, it was good. I don't recall anything standing out in my mind. It seemed the carpaccio was plated earlier in the day so it came out right away. Then the lull in between courses began. I did not mind as it tells me the dishes are getting cooked and individual attention. The pasta course, which had goose on top, was nice. The lamb entree was good too. But the fish was the best. It was cooked to perfection. This place has a lot of fans. You should try it and see if you like it. I do believe the chef puts his love into the restaurant and the food. For me, I love prix fixe and will pay a fortune for food, but this one was not in my wheel house.

After a few friends of mine suggested that I go check out Romeo's, wow thank god for my friends and thank god for you Romeo. That food is heaven sent. I went with my sister just to check it out and I couldn't help but have a huge smile as every meal came out. This was definitely one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Our first plate was the salmon with capers, delicious, it was salty but perfect especially eating it on top of the crispy and delicious bread they offer on the side. My second plate was a pasta with rabbit in a curry sauce. It was creamy and extremely good. My third was some type of fish as well with capers. It was a bit less salty then the salmon appetizer but the fish literally melted in your mouth. The fourth plate was a seafood Risotto. Perfect blend of flavors and it was creamy as well. And last but not least my final plate was the chocolate soufflet. Warm on the inside and with some kind of vanilla sauce all over the plate. AMAZING and def finished the meal off with a bang. I will definitely be coming to eat here more often. I highly recommend this place to anyone that loves great food.

Let's talk . . . "The European-style room is dimly lighted, service is quietly professional, and the ambiance is as romantic as it gets. There is nothing here to interfere with the most intimate of talks, and the meal generally takes about two and a half hours -- plenty of time to tackle any subject." miaminewtimes.com/bestof…

Romeos is a dump. 1.Pricing is outrageous 2. Bread was cold and hard biscuit style. 3. Atmosphere did not exist. 4. Food was very small portion with ok taste. 5. Wine over priced 6. Service was good. For the amount of money they are charging for this quality food and atmosphere it is a rip off. Not worth the price. In conclusion it is not a high quality dining experience.

This small restaurant offers up a great locale for a romantic evening. Having only about 25 seats, you can't help but feel cozy. Dimly lit with candles, you are seated with high hopes of a great evening. As your eyes adjust, you are greeted by a short plump man with round glasses, a chef coat, and his hands in his pockets. He smiles and welcomes you as he introduces himself as Romeo. He tells us how it works (no menu), ask us a few questions (allergies, likes & dislikes), tells us a bit about himself and the restaurant. He then disappears into the kitchen. The first course was a salmon carpaccio . Excellent flavor! The bread was toasted slices of a french baguette. The next course was a pasta dish. A homemade ravioli stuffed with a pear. Served in a cream sauce that was heavy with a blue cheese. Another excellent plate! Next came a seafood risotto. This was my least favorite. The risotto was slightly under cooked. The presentation was lacking. However, all the flavors were there and it was not a disappointment (just my least favorite compared to all the others). The entree was a duck, pan seared with he skin on. It was served in a pool of kiwi sauce. As a matter of fact, every course, except the risotto, was served with a sweet component. The dessert was an apple strudel type pastry with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so this was fine for me. The wine list was very small, but had enough descent selections. This is not a trendy / hip restaurant. It is a quiet boutique restaurant with a lot of character.

My husband and I had heard good things about Romeo's so I decided to book a reservation for our anniversary. We were warned that it was going to be pricey - but if the food was as amazing as we had heard, we were willing to pay whatever it may be. We arrived and were seated right away. The place is small and dark. The tables are very close together. The decor made me think we were eating dinner in the basement of a monastery. Romeo approached our table and asked our likes/dislikes/allergies, etc. He told us that the food was about "quality, not quantity." He had the speech memorized and recited it monotone, word for word to every other table that sat down after us. We had a laugh about that. The food started to arrive and I must say that it was anything but spectacular. The quality of the food was fine. There was just no originality to it. Salmon Carpaccio, Fettucini, Seared Tuna with starfruit, Duck covered in Raspberry sauce (such a bad combination - we couldn't eat it) and for dessert......Molten Chocolate Cake. Everything your average restaurant would serve. We left full (six courses can do that to you), but extremely unsatisfied. And most importantly, we felt ripped off. The meal cost us $300 with a bottle of wine. I had the best meal of my life for $300 at Daniel Boulud's restaurant in New York. Romeo's doesn't deserve those kinds of prices for mediocre food.

The food is outrageous good. Small intimate dining room, very good service.

First of all, Romeo does not invent nor improvise any dishes specially for you and your tastes. He's got a list of dishes he always uses (never anything new) and he simply asks you if you have any allergies or if there is something you don't like, merely to do the show, since these are questions your server should and perfectly could do to you. And of course, if you were presented with his 3 or 4 different choices for each course, you would be smart enough not to choose something you don't like or you can't eat. He simply does that for you. The place is extremely small, so you have to listen to every table's conversation. It is very dark, yes. Some call it romantic. My boyfriend couldn't even read the wine list and asked for a flash light. But what he was given was smaller than a AAA battery. And probably needed one of those because it did not illuminate much. Another table arrived 10 minutes after us and they got served first (wine and food). Oh well. After waiting some time for our red wine, which we had to drink in white wine glasses, we had to wait another 15 minutes for the chef to come and do his thing. In 30 seconds we told him the two things we don't like and ciao. The wait started. The bread was painful. They served some old white tasteless bread, toasted to the point you could hurt someone with it. And butter. We got the first course: Bresaola Carpaccio. What a disappointing replacement for what could have been a Carpaccio di Manzo, considering the "quality" of the restaurant we were in. Bresaola is air-dried salt-cured top round beef. This one was too bland and too dry. We asked for olive oil and balsamic (to try to soften the bread) and the waiter looked at us like we were asking him for a lotto ticket. He came with it and went straight to my bresaola dish to pour the balsamic on top! I stopped him right on time and asked him what he was doing. I told him to leave it on the table and he gave me another dumbfounded look. It was not long after I realized these were the only balsamic and olive oil in the restaurant, as he "borrowed" them 3 times to serve 3 other tables. So I gave them back. Bread was not edible, anyways. After a long wait, we got a tiny portion of pasta. This is the only dish I loved from my experience there. It was black or green (it was too dark) fettucini with shrimps, capers, black olives and white wine. No offense here but I cook it the same way. Maybe that's why I loved it. And I was still starving. It took us about 2 minutes to finish the pasta. A while later, we got the third course: Corvina fish on top of a crab cake. Having tried Maryland's crab cakes, there's nothing good I can say here. It was not easy to chew, too oily and too breaded. I could keep going. The fish was fine but I wish it had been grouper instead. Or even mahi. It had this mustard sauce all over that did not allow the Corvina to do much for itself. It also came with fried "extra julienne" leeks. I had to put each ingredient apart and eat them separately. We then waited another long time and finally got the famous risotto with the diced filet mignon. Oh, boy. The risotto only tasted like too much butter and cheese. The meat was extremely salted, good indication of being cooked with too much red wine. I did not finish it. And here came the unexpected: Almost 25 minutes later, we got the lamb chop. Tiny, fatty and overcooked. I was willing to eat it but my beloved insisted on sending it back. So we did. I ask for it MR instead of MW. I don't understand how they don't ask for the temperature. I waited about 10 minutes to get it. And this time was not MW but rare. Very rare. I guess the waiter saw it in my face because he came right away and asked me about it. I did not lie but I said I would try to eat it. He insisted on taking it back to the kitchen. So after another 10 minutes, I got it back. It was so tough, hard, gristly and dry I could not eat it. Finally, dessert. This was the typical boring but good Volcano chocolate cake. Honestly, over two hours and a half later and a boyfriend with $300 less in his pocket, I only had two words: Never again. We gave it a try, trusting all the incredible (still) reviews around here. And this is what we got. Oh well. Good luck if you still want to try it.

Hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. The Chef prepares your meal based on your likes and dislikes. It's like having your own private chef. Perfect place for a special romantic night.

It's pretty pricey, but definitely worth it! my husband surprised me with a dinner here for our 1st anniversary. I'm originally from Italy and I can only say that their food is OUTSTANDING! I almost had tears in my eyes because of how happy I was and how good the food was! Having the chef at your table asking you questions and personalizing your dinner to your preference is just amazing and makes you feel like you are really been taken special care of, just like "MAMMA" used to do back home! :-p

This is one of the best restaurants in Miami. Go and you will see! There are no menus, Chef Romeo comes out to talk to you and it all starts from there, and the experience is wonderful. Honestly, while this place is not cheap, but it's worth every penny for a very special occasion. It's a small place, but nice inside. If your in the mood for a long italian style meal - this is the place. In a nut shell, this was the second most expensive place I have taken my wife, but it was the best meal I have had in Miami. I hear lunch is rather reasonable, and I will try that next.

I went here for dinner several years ago with my ex wife for our anniversary after her co-worker highly recommended it. What a mistake! I made reservations and when we arrived they sat us at our table. We were brought a basket of breads & sticks. They were so crunchy I had to keep looking at it to make sure I wasnt eating tree twigs! The chef came out and asked us a series of questions in regards to our likes & dislikes. He told us about the quality and not quantity that is served there. Well they started with the beef carpaccio. My wife look puzzled as to what the hell was it. I ate it and she did not eat hers. Then we received a piece of fish in the center of a plate. The fish was ok but it was the size of a small vienna finger. The rissoto with small pieces of filet mignon was brought after. It was nothing to write home about. At the end we had a dessert which was very forgetful! At the end of the night, I felt so bad and ripped off by paying almost 200.00 that I would have felt better if I would have been robbed outside the restaurant and would have gone home and avoided this bad experience. if you are stuck up, rich, and dont mind throwing away your money, then go here you will be just fine! For me it was a big miss!

I have to start off by saying that i didn't realize this itty bitty place on coral way was going to be so classy and romantic (and dark) inside. I hadn't read the yelp reviews before going.. i just knew that it was Italian and close to home. So, we walk in and the jolly owner greets us and shows us to our table. (He is half El Salvadorian and half Italian). Anywho he briefly explains that there are no menus and he would come up with a 6 course meal based on our likes/dislikes. I have no likes/dislikes- any edible item is fair game. This was so exciting. I loved the suspense between courses (soup? salad? meat? fish? aaaaaah). The food adventure unfolded as follows: Course 1: Salmon carpaccio: kinda heavy on the lemon juice but very delicate and yummy. Course 2: Fettucini with rabbit and porcini mushrooms in the most delicious sauce you've ever had (request it if you can- it was our favorite of all the courses) Course 3: Seared ahi tuna on star fruit and really tasty spicy sauce: the sauce was too spicy for us, we asked the waiter to ask the chef to not include anymore spicy dishes as we went through about 3 glasses of water (side note: the service at the place is unmatched by any establishment I've ever been to- my water glass was never empty and the courses all came out piping hot with minimal wait time). Course 4: Fillet mignon on top of risotto with asparagus tips: my second favorite dish Now at this point my bf and i were incredibly full and didn't think we could eat another scrumptious bite. The waiter read our minds and asked if we wanted to skip the fifth course and just have desssert. Perfect!! Course 5: Pièce de résistance..... a yummy chocolate soufflé with liquid chocolatey goodness oozing onto the plate after the first bite to hobnob with the raspberry and other creamy sauces on the place. A number 10 (from 1-10) on the nom-nometer!! I know this review was long but i wanted to be thorough and share my wonderful meal with all of you- though the 6 course dinner is mad pricy at $90 a head- the food, service, and ambiance is SO worth it (the waiter ended up knocking $30 off the check due to the skipped fifth course). This place is well worth the visit- you will not be disappointed!!

I'm so sorry Romeo to do this to you, but I feel like you left room for improvement. The atmosphere is romantic, you are charming and your food is delicious, but your location and quality of food do not match your pricing. I really, really wanted to give you 5 stars, but I didn't have the heart to tell you in person that filet mignon doesn't need to be cut into small pieces and added to risotto if it really is the cut you price it to be... I will say, I left full and there were moments that reminded me of some of my mother's best cooking, but I don't understand how you justify pricing yourself above Prime 112, Casa Tua, or Michael's Genuine. At $150/per person, after wine, gratuity and tax, you are the most expensive restaurant in Miami.

My husband took the staff and their spouses to Romeo's for our holiday party this year. What a wonderful meal Romeo prepared for 20 of us! He was able to provide dishes according to the likes and dislikes of everyone. Not one person left disappointed or hungry. We have been long time patrons of Romeo's and enjoy the concept of a chef that is willing to prepare dishes that are to our taste. The food, service and ambiance are exceptional. I would not hesitate in recommending the restaurant to anyone. The price is a bit high, but the experience and food is worth every penny. He also has a good selection of wines that are not at all over-priced.

After hearing rave review from my friends, we decided to dine at Romeo's for my birthday. There is no menu but Romeo, the chef and owner, personally visits each table and asks if you are allergic to any foods. Then asks some basic questions and designs a 6 course meal based on your answers. My food was phenomenal. My wife loved her dishes as well. Total bill for two including tip and 1 glass of wine was $250.

My husband and I recently dined there to celebrate our anniversary. Being consummate foodies, my husabnd and I were prepared to be thrilled gastronomically. Although every dish was spotlessly prepared, the food lacked creativity and knock-your-socks-off depth of flavor. All in all, the service was good, the ambiance conducive to long, intimate conversations, and the food good.

I really don't understand why zagat gives to this restaurant 26 ... outdated decor, food very mediocre ... many cinema from the cook who does not deserve any of his success ... expensive for what it is ..

Romeo's has never let me down. Always delicious, perfect portions, very intimate date spot. Great for people like myself that never know what to order, Chef makes his way to you asks you about likes and especially dislikes and makes you a personalized delicious meal. I highly recommend checking it out during the week, as it's very small spot so you might run out of luck on weekends.

I came here with my girlfriend and her partner mentor when she was a summer associate at a law firm in Miami. Luckily that meant we were not footing any of the bill as this place is very expensive. I believe our meal for 4 (including about 4-6 bottles of wine, can't remember exactly how many we had) was over $500. The experience was great. There are 2 seatings at 7:30 and 10:30 i believe. We were at the 7:30 one. Romeo comes out and asks about likes and dislikes and then cooks up a 7 course meal. There is no menu here everything is done on a whim. The food was good but I have had better for less money. The chocolate souffle desert, however was unbelievable. Probably the best I have ever had. Coupled with a rose sparkling wine, this was far and away the best course of the night. If you do eat here plan on staying for about 2.5 hours and paying about $90 per person for dinner not including drinks.

This superb dark little place of just about thirty seats is expensive and worth every bit. There is no menu, the server just asks if there is anything you don't like (or can't eat) and then the little amazing plates come pouring out one after another (5 or 6), each is just as amazingly delicious as the next. My lunch yesterday was a slightly lemony salmon carpaccio with capers, then black fettuccine with hot pepperoncini chilies and shrimp, a little grouper francese (egg battered with a white wine sauce), then a thick little lamb chop with apricot and mint sauce (that being my offered choice of meat), ending with the desert of my choice (there were several options offer, a chocolate souffle. Everything was perfectly cooked and the ingredients were the best. My French client was very impressed (and he is from Lyon, perhaps the culinary capital of the European world). Just an excellent place and every meal I've had there (now 3) has been as excellent. The chef, Romeo (duh), is a delightfully charming person (especially if you speak Spanish) and he always comes out to inquire as to your satisfaction, he is Salvadorian but his cooking style is definitely adeptly northern Italian. Go there with someone who will appreciate it ...

Best dinner I've had in Miami by far. Intimate, excellent food and personalized menu by chef Romeo. Just to say one negative point, service was slow at the beginning, but once the six dishes menu started we forgot about it. From the outside you'll never think there is such a good gastronomic experience inside.

Romeo's Cafe is a small (7 or 8 table?) Italian restaurant off Coral Way. It's a no-menu type of place; Romeo comes out and asks you just what you don't like, then goes back and prepares a six course meal. First off was the best carpaccio I've ever had. I got to try both the tuna and beef carpaccio and they were out of this world. Next were pasta purses with pear & 3 cheeses, truely fantastic. I also had a seafood risotto and a seared tuna dish, both were very good. A delicious filet mignon followed and lastly was a warm dark chocolate brownie dessert. They were both excellent. Overall, the food was superb, Romeo is super friendly and the setting is very intimate. At $80 a person it's kinda pricey, but worth treating yourself.

A friend of mine recommended this place I had never heard of. So I decided to give it a shot as it is relatively close to work. Boy was I impressed. First of all, this is a very tiny place, probably no more than eight tables, so attention is as personal as it gets. Another important thing to mention is THERE IS NO MENU, that's right, no menu. It is a prix fixe deal, 45 bucks per person for lunch and 90 for dinner. The lunch menu consists of 4 courses and dinner consists of 6. So the owner comes to the table, introduces himself and asks you if there is any food you are allergic to or don't like, also he will ask you if there is anything in particular you'd like to eat and if you like spicy. Based on all this information, the chef will prepare your dishes. You will absolutely love this place, and it is worth the price, at least for lunch, haven't tried the dinner experience yet. So get out of the ordinary and treat yourself for a nice custom made meal.

I am rarely effusive about the Miami dining scene, but this review will be the exception. I took my husband to Romeo's for his birthday dinner so I had very high expectations; which Romeo's surpassed. The first course was a salmon carpaccio with capers and just a hint of red onion. The salmon was shaved so thin that it was translucent. I don't even like salmon and I loved this dish. The server then offered my husband another serving of it, just because he liked it so much! The second course was a tomatoe linguine (made on site) with shrimp and white grapes. Who would think to put white grapes with shrimp and pasta? It was absolutely heavenly!!!! Every course was that good. When the chef comes to the table initially, he makes the point that it is a tasting menu, and as such, the portions are smaller, with an emphasis on quality. But honestly, the portions were bigger than they lead you to expect. My husband is a body builder, and he was full after the 4th course. So the point is, go with a very big appetite. The service is incredible. They are attentive without being overbearing, something that Miami restaurants cannot seem to grasp. It is small, and dark in Romeo's but you'll feel like you're eating in an italian restaurant in Little Italy. It is worth every last penny!!!!

We loved it. It was small, intimate and quiet. One of the very few restaurants I might actually call romantic -- a word I think is overused. Perhaps a little too dark. It was kinda funny when the waiter handed me a flashlight so I could look at the wine list. We really like to take our time and linger over a good dinner. Romeo's is perfect for that. Don't come here if you're in a hurry ... a decent amount of time passes between courses. He definitely takes into account your likes and dislikes and tailors your meal to suit. Since my date doesn't eat red meat, duck or rabbit, while I was enjoying those courses she had some fantastic seafood and pasta dishes. You MUST come hungry. It may be a small plate concept in theory, but these are not tiny portions and it all adds up. By the end, we regretted having eaten all of our earlier courses because we were too full to properly enjoy the later courses. Overall ... the concept is good, the service is great, and the food is absolutely delicious.

Amazing cuisine! The place is small borderline cramped and very expensive but so worth it for the experience. My boyfriend and I planned on a night just about us and that's exactly what we got. We had an amazing 6 courses prepared to our taste, great wine and because the whole thing takes approx. 2.5 hours you have plenty of conversation time and no distractions. The dim lighting and limited capacity give a romantic exclusive quality to the dining.

WOW! What an amazing concept. No menu, whatsoever! You simply tell the server what you're likes and dislikes are and you get a meal completely tailored... out of this world. It is also an amazing atmosphere. Very romantic and small. Such a great place

Like Italian food? Like surprise dishes? Delightful concoctions? Romeo's is the right place. Tiny space, dark and romantic, attentive service, and expensive (but hey, you can bring your own bottle of wine! My friend brought two extraordinary reds, which complement the whole experience very nicely). As you probably read in the other reviews, the chef comes to your table, asks a few questions about what you like, dislike, hate, allergies, etc. Then a parade of 6 "surprise" dishes will follow. I started with Salmon Carpachio (delicious), then a lobster and crab lasagna (unique), then seafood risotto (amazing), then Chilean Seabass over heart of palms (exotic), then steak slices over veggies (tasty), then finished with deserts (strudel, chocolate molten cake and a pear pie). All dishes were very good and different from what you would get in mainstream Italian eateries. I would give it 5 stars if the price would be a bit more affordable, but hey, this place is very unique serving incredible food in a special ambiance. Recommended.

The maximum capacity is maybe 20 people and it only has 2 seatings per night. LIke others mentioned before, there is no menu. Chef Romeo comes to the table and greets the guest to find out the likes and dislikes and then he goes to work. Everything is served in tasting potions so you leave fullfilled but not stuffed and want to die. It's intimate, romantic and unique, a true hidden treasure.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
