I feel that portion sizes and food quality have declined as of late. I order take-out from Okinawa quite frequently because they are one of the few places offering brown rice as an option. I know, it's not authentic but I am going for nutritional value. Brown rice is an extra $2.00 per roll. While the rolls are inexpensive, pretty much in the $5 to $10 range, they are also very small, so you have to order at least two. One of the better rolls is the salmon tempura roll. I get mine without cream cheese. The menu states it has asparagus but it doesn't. Still nice and crunchy. My rainbow roll fell apart, as did the California roll, mostly due to undercooked, unseasoned brown rice. The eel roll was dry and bland. Nigiri is okay, salmon being the safe choice. Tuna not so great. I do recommend their salmon tataki appetizer. Simple, tender salmon with a nice dipping sauce.

This Place is completely horrible!!!! I organize parties and many times people request sushi, so I was planing to make a big order for my party from this restaurant and decided to try the food before hand since it is my first time ordering from here. I called to make an order and some asian girl picked the phone. So first of all, she did not speak any english. I was unable to make an order at all over the phone because she did not understand me at all.. or pretended not to understand? So I decided to do it online, but it didn't arrive for more then an hour, so I called back and the same girl picked the phone, I tried asking her when is the order going to get here, on what she said soon and HANGS UP the phone. I called back to ask again the same question, so she can at least give me an estimated time. She screamed on the phone not to call there anymore and hangs the phone a second time. I called back once more to ask for the manager of the restaurant to address this situation, on which she turned out to be the manager.. So I go there to pick up my food because she said that there will not be any delivery for unknown reason... When I get there she said that my order was canceled!!! The worst part is that I payed for the food and delivery, but I wasn't getting either, I had waited over 2 hours by then and I wanted my money back but I had to wait over 15 mins for her and a staff not doing a thing at all, until I said i was calling the police and she swiped the card and immediately greeted me out of the shop. I was very polite to her the whole time and never was given a reason for her behavior nor for the cancellation of my food or delivery, but after all again I as soon as i get there I can tell the staff and chefs are pretty much chilling and doing nothing at all. I think they should be more careful with who they hire as it is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I can't believe they put coupons under my door, like why you do that if you don't really have anything to offer other than a ridiculous hard time to customers, this business shouldn't exist.People like this are not supposed to work as managers!!!! Well, they lost a pretty nice check because I'm never going to do any business with this place again!!!!!!!

This isnt the kind of place you take a date for dinner. It is the kind of place where you satisfy your need for sushi without breaking the bank. Its fresh (at-least fresher than the whole foods) and the service is relatively quick (emphasis on relatively). Working in the area its definitely one of those spots I will go back more often than not. Affordable and good. Not bad at all.

This is my go to spot when I have my sushi cravings and am feeling more ambitious than standard Publix sushi (which somewhat fills my sushi cravings) Parking around here is a little rough, so I usually walk here from Brickell-- nice 15 min walk right across the bridge. It's cheap, fresh, and quick. I think the Okinawa Special is the best bang for the buck. You get a mix of about 13 pieces of nigiri and rolls for about $9ish with tax. Definitely at this price point though-- don't expect this to be the best sushi of your life, it's actually just a bit better than average-- but I still love this place. Fyi--their soy sauce doesn't come in packets-- they repackage bulk soy sauce into their own containers-- but no complaints since I usually just pick up and eat at home. Writing this review makes me want Okinawa now!

I LOVE Okinawa! It's an incredible deal nestled in the downtown area. The service is super fast, price is unbelievable and the sushi is delicious. If I lived in Brickell I would be here every week! Much better than picking up any takeout Sushi Maki from Publix. I only wish they delivered to Coral Way. The only gripe I had was that the seaweed salad is a bit overpriced, but that really is a tiny blip on the wonderful menu with so many items with one digit prices. The sign and exterior may not be notable, but it's definitely worth your time and will make for a delicious meal!

Okinawa is a very good option for a quick dine-in or takeaway. It is not fancy, however the quality ingredients is good. Great price to quality. Not the traditional japanese sushi place. Miami Heat and Deagon Roll are my top choices. If you love salmon they have a "salmon lover" plate. I have my standard order saved into my Yelp account, so I can order pretty fast.

Food is delicious, service is good and prices are reasonable. It is a great place for quick lunch. I would like to try their breakfast.

It's taking way too long for an express sushi place! And they have no urgency what so ever

We found this by chance walking by. The place is not fancy but the sushi is excellent quality. The rice is perfect and the price is very affordable. They also deliver if you want it in your hotel.

Coming from NYC, I am a complete sushi addict. On a mellow Sunday night while watching the World Cup, I needed my sushi fix so I ordered from this joint as it had a pretty good selection and similar prices to NYC (possibly slightly less). The sushi wasn't out of this world but it got the job done, luckily the appetizers were great so it worked out. The seaweed salad and miso soup were great, (staple items, if a sushi place cannot make those right--- run !) The hurricane roll was savory (cannot say the same for the spicy tuna roll..another staple item which makes me slightly skeptical, but I am willing to give this place another shot.

Affordable, decent sushi in downtown is finally here thanks to Okinawa. For $10 +tip you can walk out satisfied which is a rarity in this area IF you're looking for some fresh fish. The menu has enough of a variety to please the palates and wallets of most and the service is a fairly quick...all pluses in my book. This place may not be fancy but Okinawa hits the spot every time!

Simple place with cherry blossom decor, Okinawa Sushi Express is the answer to overpriced Brickell sushi. I'm digging it's casual vibe as it gives me time alone to enjoy myself and food. I believe the prices are more than fair and you see the good quality of the fish as its prepared in front of you, I get a hearty selection of sauces (because lets be honest just regular soy sauce can be... boring) my recommendation? The ponzu sauce is out of this world. It passes the ponzu test, what about the taste? Its chewy goodness, veggies are crisp and rice has the perfect texture. Their fried tofu gives me that little moment of food heaven and I usually finish off my meal with the cheesecake roll (this dessert is AMAZING with a scoop of ice cream which they also have) I go to MDC wolfson nearby, and I recommend this to any student of the school to come check out, its also good for your downtown lunch break, speed service, why not try out this little hidden gem of downtown miami? Say no to overpriced Brickell sushi!

I wasn't expecting much from this place. And I really wasn't interested in eating a greasy burger. So i went out on a limb and tried the ahi tuna salad. It was really amazing. Definitely order that if you're looking for fresh and clean food. Super good.

Not bad for fast food sushi! Super friendly girl, tiny place, fast sushi, & it was pretty good! What else could you want or I could I say.

Sushi here is what you pay for. It's definitely one of the best values you can get but I prefer quality. It reminds me of another quick service place in Orlando that I used to dine at. It will get the job done when you have those sushi cravings and won't dent your wallet but definitely not somewhere you can say has the best sushi. They have a unique roll with bananas on it. The combination actually is pretty good and different. Brown rice was an extra $2 charge per roll on the website so I passed on that! The people are very friendly here and had my order ready in a timely fashion.

Delivery took over an hour. Fish was warm on arrival. Ate 2 pieces and threw the rest away. Still became violently ill. Stay far, far away.

Nice try, but the sushi did not taste super fresh. Presentation was also lacking. It was OK, but not great food.

This is a fast food sushi restaurant but there are tables and chairs if you'd like sit & eat. Just order at the counter, then sit and wait for your food. My friend and I shared the monkey roll, the three amigos (which includes a California roll, a bagel roll & a shrimp tempura roll) and a salmon tempura roll. For $28, we were stuffed!! The specialty rolls were nice and hot and everything was fresh and delicious. The monkey roll has something sweet in it like a banana. It was very unique. Overall the food was reasonably priced & we'll definitely be back!

Stale and Disgusting sushi. I had a takeout for lunch: spicy tuna and salmon/tuna combo. From soy sauce, to ginger to fish itself - disgusting and frankly I felt unsafe eating it. The whole thing is in the garbage.... Too bad. I won't be going back. Service was friendly though.

Great sushi if you're in the downtown area! It's always difficult to find good sushi in this area and they even deliver to the Brickell area! Everything is very fresh and tasty. Dragon roll is delicious! Give it a try, you won't regret it.

I like this small but bright, clean, and simple sushi place, nothing fancy but you can get good sushi. Their fishes are fresh and all the materials are carefully prepared. My love is Miami Hurricane, not so spicy but perfectly combined simon with rice in the best taste ratio. Usually I went there solely for pickup but they also have comfortable dine in environment. Good spot to chill with friends. Two weeks ago, I had my order pretty plain taste. Still my Miami Hurricane, but taste not so crunchy. I was surprised how could this happen as this place was always so good. So I order today again and it proves last time was just an accident. For sure I have to give this place 5 star as it worth it and nobody gonna blame a place for one time mistake while it always keep it's highly qualified food and service.

Good little inn and out sushi spot. Nice modern space, easy to navigate menu, clean, and fresh sushi all for an average of about 6.50 per roll. They also have some hot food selections and plenty of sushi combo options. Spicy Tuna roll wasn't made with spicy mayo which was odd, but the Shrimp Tempura roll was really good. Not exactly prime cuts of fish, but hey you're getting take out sushi for under 20 bucks.

For an inexpensive sushi lunch option in Downtown, you could do worse than Okinawa. Reminiscent of Go To Sushi in the Midtown/Morningside area, Okinawa offers an array of rolls, bowls, and combos that are wallet-friendly more than anything. We all know what we're getting when "sushi express" is in the name of a fresh-fish purveyor - the fish isn't the highest quality, and the cuts aren't the best. But for a filling meal that comes in under $10, it's worthwhile. Also worth mentioning is the speedy service. I'm not sure about their delivery speed, but if you dine in, rest assured that you'll be chowing down in a matter of minutes. I opted for the salmon don (6-7 pieces of salmon sashimi on a bed of sushi rice) and a bottled iced green tea. My total was about $11 (including the tip I added on), and I was on my way back to the office not 30 minutes later.

Ordered the popcorn shrimp and chicken teriyaki box, both arrived cold, the chicken tasted like rubber .... The sushi was like alright.... Wish they would cut the pieces a little more smaller. Will never order again.

Great experience at Okinawa. There are a lot of sushi places in downtown Miami, but I'll definitely be returning here. The portions are a little small, it's true, but the prices are very good and with a drink and an appetizer, it was filling. I had a rainbow roll, plus steamed pork gyoza. The sushi was very fresh. The gyoza was probably frozen from a package! But it was very good. My friend had a dragon roll and was disappointed that it had cream cheese. She didn't like that. My other friend had chicken teriyaki with rice and said it was delicious. The problem is the restaurant is small with about 10 tables and only a few 4 tops. It was very crowded when we went and had a hard time getting to sit down. I think delivery would be a good option (a minimum of $15) or pickup. But the food was very good.

In the mood for something light and delicious for dinner, Okinawa hit the spot. Service was quick and polite, and the sushi was fresh and inexpensive. Ambiance isn't much, but it's a nice, small, and clean place. Salmon tataki came with 8 slices with scallions sprinkled on top and had a nice ponzu sauce. Tasted fresh and only 6.50 Salmon lovers nigiri was just as good. Six pieces for 5.75. Not too much rice Vegetable roll was crisp and refreshing. They have a tempura banana & ice cream dessert that sounds good. I'll have to order next time if I have space for dessert!

No other complaint other than it's just bad sushi... Might as well cross the bridge and go somewhere in brickell. The sushi texturally felt like the rice and fish had been left out: the rice was hard and the fish was mushy. The chicken was freezing and the "little dessert" it came with was like something you'd get in a lunchables box. I have a horrible stomach ache and so does my boyfriend. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else.

Okinawa is an express sushi restaurant, where you order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table (if you are dining in). The prices are about as low as you'd find for sushi (on par with Iron Sushi, cheaper than Sushi Siam), but the quality is good. The rolls and sushi are generous with the fish and aren't overloaded with rice. Speaking of rice, the rice here is always tender, has a good sticky texture, and mild flavor. And, while I am not a sushi fish aficionado, I can say that I've never had fish here that tasted dirty or less than fresh, as I've had at other fast food sushi restaurants. I'd give Okinawa five stars if it were a little more consistent in terms of offering quick service. Sometimes, when it is crowded, they get a little overwhelmed and service slows down. In spite of this, I'd definitely recommend it.

If you are in Downtown Miami and you want a quick sushi fix this is the place to go. The food is wonderful, and of good quality. The place is clean (NO VISIBLE RATS UNLINE IRON SUSHI IN THE OTHER STREET) and with a good vibe. Staff is friendly.

I found this place walking somewhere else, and let me tell you.. they are WONDERFUL! The cashiers are always SO SO polite (A refreshing thing to come across in Miami), and the sushi is not only delicious, but it doesn't hurt my pocket. Since they had won my (and my boyfriend's) heart, we even order their sushi for delivery. They told us that it would arrive in 45 mins to an hour. They came to my apartment in 20! You won't go wrong with this place, folks!

This is a great lunch spot - I'm so glad I found it! After being underwhelmed by Ozzi and Iron Sushi, I stumbled upon Okinawa. The sushi is just as high quality as Ozzi (better, actually) for a much more reasonable price. And Iron Sushi was disgusting, so Okinawa is far ahead of them. The service is fast and extraordinarily polite. I eat here all the time and love it!

For an "express" restaurant, it has a very calm, mordern look and feel to it. The food is great. I only wish the portions were a bit greater and not feel about the size of a kids lunch pack but it is japanese custom to eat small amount of everything that just might bring an American to tears. Almost everything is under $10 but and can definitely score some great deals on a very good amount of rolls that could be good for 2, possibly 3 people.the food a fresh.. I mean, I've seen them pull out live seafood. That made me smile when I saw that. Very speedy service, too. Usually the order will take just under 20 mins. I can definitely see this place sticking around for a long time and possibly expanding. Arigato.

This is an update to a review. I initially gave it 4 stars, but after going here a couple of times now, I've discovered that the sushi is low quality crap. They are extremely stingy with their ingredients. When making a California roll, they cut the imitation crab in half. Who does that?!?!

So far I only asked for delivery from this place and it's OK, nothing great. But because I just moved to Miami from NYC I don't know many good places here. So far I think the food in this place is a bit oily. I love seaweed salad, but I only order from here once and never again because is swimming in oil:- ( The rest of the food is OK. I have had really cheap great Japanese food in NY and here so far there is no comparison...but I am still searching and until them this is the only place that I can asked for delivery close to my house;-)

I love the sushi from this place!!! I have only try for delivery and it is the best sushi delivery in Miami. They are always on time and the sushi is reallt good. I recommend the popcorn shrimp, the dragon roll and tres amigos roll. Good prices too.
