My Husband and I were looking for a place to grab a quick bite for lunch in an area that we are unfamiliar with. Wow! Totally stumbled across this place, it is absolutely amazing!! Family owned and operated by mother father son, all have so much passion for their menu, food, and restaurant. The food is amazing and the staff are not afraid to make recommendations. We will definitely be back!

I had heard this place was simple Italian with a limited but delicious menu. All I can say is L-O-V-E... from the greeting to the preparation of the meal, the pride in what they do shone through. My wife had the Pumpkin risotto and I had the braised beef short ribs and penne with "black stew" suace. The braised ribs were better than any I have ever had. The place was so amazingly welcoming, that I could care less that were were looking out the windon onto a busy gas station. Go there for service, go there for great food, lovingly prepared, go there for the love of dining

Excellent family run Italian restaurant! Had dinner on a whim and returned for lunch before heading to airport. Could NOT be better.

Ugh.... Had high hopes. Strip mall Italian --- with view of the Shell Gas Station. Interior is cute with Library and Piano in corner. Tables are high end... Chairs are cheap plastic and uncomfortable. As others have noted, drinks come in plastic solo cups. Coke comes by the can. Salad is served heaping over the edges on a bread plate which made the salad very hard to eat without knocking most of it on the table. (Yup plastic plates too) Salads and bruschetta were bland/boring. Wife loved the Ravioli, Kids loved the Spaghetti --- I the Gnocchi... Well in my opinion the Gnocchi was NOT home made and quite honestly the worst pasta on our table. I tried it all. The tomato sauce is better than the meat sauce. Note to the owners... Buy proper China and Glassware. (And dishwasher if necessary) because the plastic just kills your otherwise nice vibe. Service, the guys were attentive and on top of all of our needs. Great job. We were not offered a desert menu, so we didn't sample it.

The atmosphere is really romantic. It's calm and cozy. The food was AMAZING! The service was prompt and friends. I'm shocked there isn't a line to get it.

Staying nearby and this was close and recommended by hotel staff; good advice. Very comfortable, intimate and relaxing. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. Meal was perfect; homemade pasta, nice portion, not over done - what Italian is about. Live piano and good meal, modest price in a quiet atmosphere was just what the end of a long travel day called for. I couldn't have been more impressed. I will not doubt eat here again through this stay.

Excellent , homemade home run. Please eat to support the local non chain restaurant. They make their own pasta and everything. They don't believe in things not homemade. We had meatballs that are excellent.

Ok meal. I ordered the chicken with mushrooms which was not great. Spinach risotto served with it was excellent. Chocolate tiramisu for dessert was awesome. Service was indifferent. We did not get asked once during the meal how was everything. We were asked during the dessert course.

I was looking for something fast for lunch and is found this place. I originally was going to order to go but I decided to stay and eat. I originally wanted the spaghetti and meatball but they were out of meatballs. So I ordered the pasta with red sauce and breaded chicken breast. Overall the food tasted great. However the drinks and plates were plastic. Kind of cheapens the overall look of the restaurant. Great ambiance overall. I would come back if I am in the area.

A hidden gem! Family owned and operated, excellent service, prices, and live music. The food is over the top great, homemade pasta, fresh baked bread, delicious tiramisu. Lasagna was melt in your mouth amazing!

I am puzzled - while food was awesome, the decor is nice, we were served water in plastic cups and food was served on plastic plates with cheap forks and knives. This is an Italian restaurant, so I was shocked... Not classy at all... Food was good! Linguini with white sauce and clams was so-so (watery), and no spoon was provided... Mushroom risotto and meatballs were really good!!!! Would come again if they respect the customers and match the prices with service.

Tortellini with pear and Gorgonzola. Absolutely delicious food. Homey Italian style with peaceful decor. The sauces are excellent. In an area where good dining is scarce this is an oasis in the desert. We will return.

Weird off the road locale in a strip center. But food was outstanding. Caesar, chicken piccata and pasta was fresh and outstanding. Piano player was an added bonus. The guy who walked on before me had eaten here the night before and had to come back again ! Highly recommend.

In this place, homemade food goes to another level. Classic italian recipes made with the freshest of ingredients will impress you only as an authentic italian family can. Get yourself the Linguine alle Vongole (Linguine with clams) for an explosion of flavor with garlic, white wine and peperoncino (red pepper flakes) while you have a refreshing Pinot Grigio. And then a Fragole Milefoglie (Strawberry Napoleon) to taste the subtleness of its cream with some infiltrated strawberries, and to be amazed. Quiet and cozy, the restaurant has one of the best italian foods around Miami. Don't miss it!

Went with my gf and was promptly greeted and shown a table. The Lasagna was good but too sweet and tangy. My girlfriend's pasta dish was good and the pasta tasted really homemade. Overall, the service was very good but the food was not worthy of repeat visits.

Had dinner at Mozzarellas and it was delicious. The waiter was attentive and friendly. Had the Caesar salad and the margherita pizza. The crust was thin and crispy yum.

I personally believe this place is quite good. I have been there three times and had a great experience every time! - Their bread is THE BEST. Extremely fresh, crunchy, soft... Damn, I would go there only for their bread - The menu is quite extensive, so you have a LOT to choose from. I have had pasta with four cheese sauce and fish, they were good, beyond average. - I tried their tres leches and I found it to be delicious! Super creamy... - My only complaint is that they are a little bit overpriced. I wouldn't mind paying up to $12 for the pasta, but more than that is just too much... They are around $14-16 for pasta But in general I would recommend it and, besides their overpriced menu, I would go again.

This is my favorite restaurant in Miami. Everything I have had here has been awesome. I have never had lamb chops before trying them here--to die for--now my favorite dish here. I travel all over the country and you don't come across that many family-run restaurants--they do it well both from a service perspective and flavor perspective. If you visit Miami try it. If you live in Miami put on your list of places to check out. You won't be disappointed!!!

Holy crap, drop what you're doing and check this place out. My initial impression: I walk in the door to a quaint little restaurant and hear some piano music. I wait to be seated, turn around the corner and BAM holy crap the music is from a guy playing on a baby grand piano with floor to ceiling bookshelves in the background! I ask the waiter what his favorite dish is, and he replies it's linguini with a pork ragu and white sauce, all of which the make fresh. The wine list has a less expensive and more expensive version of everything (I went with a $16 bottle of tempranillo). Oh yeah, and fresh warm bread. Awesome!

Who would have thought that in this little shopping center would lie this great little italian restaurant. after a few suggestions from one of my clients to come check this place out i took them up on the offer. On a rainy afternoon my boss and i looked for a place to eat after seeing some clients and i suggested this place. They have a steady lunch crowd and great specials. The menu was on point and the service was superb! our waitress was awesome and her suggestions were great. the fresh mozarrella chees and tomatoes were so fresh and tasty. Fresh bread and perfectly portioned entrees left me with a happy tummy. I ordered a chicken fetuccini along with a small cesar salad which was delicious. Desert was a perfect tiramisu that was homemade. Ask for that!!! So if you are in the doral area come check this place out for lunch and ask for Sandra (our server) and you will leave with a happy tummy.

Excellent food and service. Great family run restaurant with fully authentic Italian food. Prices are very reasonable you'd be happy to pay 25% more for their great food. Nice casual, yet elegant atmosphere with the piano player in the background.

I was recently asked about places to eat lunch in Doral and I had completely forgotten to yelp about Mozzarella!! Here it goes: This is not your overly marketed chain Italian restaurant. Mozzarella is small almost intimate, you can tell most of their customers are regulars as everyone is greeted at the door and allowed to sit where ever they choose. The wait staff is helpful and always near by and the food is simple but savory. The menu only consist of 4 or 5 options but be reassured that all their entrees pack a lot of flavor.

Mozzarella Italian is amazing! Delicious food, old Italy atmosphere and just a great feeling when you're in there. I love Italian food so it takes a lot to impress me but this place didn't disappoint. I wish I lived closer to Doral so I could eat here all the time!

Recently ordered from this place to assist with some catering needs at work. My boss suggested supporting a local family owned restaurant as opposed to the nearby Italian chain and boy am I glad we did! The price difference between both was minimal but in the end service and food quality trumps all. Food was fresh and homemade, delivered promptly by the boss man himself. Lasagna was definitely a favorite with raviolis as a close second. People were raving about the food and those uninvited were wishing they were as they walked by the aroma filled halls of Italian goodness. Couldn't have been more pleased with this family owned restaurant and was surprised to have had a call later that day from the owner to find out how it all fared...definitely a nice touch and a definite return for me.

The food at Mozzarella was absolutely delicious. Everything from the bread to the risotto. I ordered the chicken piccata with the four cheese risotto and it was perfect. My coworker ordered the pumpkin risotto and she enjoyed her dish very much as well. The only reason the restaurant doesn't get 5 stars from me is because of the service. We weren't checked on not even once during our meal and we had to finish the meal without water. Everyone was friendly, but they do need to be a better job of being more attentive to their guests. Since the food was so great this will not deter me from visiting again. Thank you for a wonderful lunch!

I've been to this place before, although at that time I felt workers here were arrogant and unfriendly I have realized by now thats the typical bad service/atitude in Miami. This time I walked in and just waited to be noticed. This lady, Host/cashier I believe, was right beside me talking to a customer, two waiters passed by and I said "Excuse me gentleman" hoping to get someones attention, but nothing. Cashier/Hostess came to the cashier right in front of me and again...nothing, I felt like a ghost, worst feeling a human can have.. The Restaurant wasn't even that busy. I will never step into this place again!!!

We found this awesome hole-in-the-wall Italian place through the owners themselves! Family owned, a customer definitely feels like home in this place. There's a beautiful corner with a grand piano and a huge bookshelf filled with real cook books anyone can read. The pasta is HOME MADE, people. If you've never tried home made pasta, you gotta try it ASAP because home made pasta's where it's at! There are a huge assortment of special sauces you can try. My mom loves the Cuatro Fumagi (if that's how you spell it) and my dad loves the Funghi Pancetta (I mean really, any kind of bacon could make a dish). I had the beef ravioli with a traditional tomato sauce, Napoli. Everything here has been up to par, we've been three times in the last month & haven't been disappointed yet. Desserts change daily (so you know they're fresh). *CHOCOLATE MOUSSE PLEASE!* Definitely coming back. Definitely recommend it.

Whoever thinks there pasta is fresh doesn't know how to cook first off now let me share my experience I went on a Friday afternoon it wasn't even that busy the waiters came to take our order and actually asked if we wanted the appetizer first then when she brought my drink she asked me if I wanted ice and by the way they serve you in plastic cups so now our appetizers are done when she brings our entree as we where eating she reaches over in front of us to grab our appetizer plates very unprofessional my wife said her food was ok mine I found to be bland and lacking sauce she had gnocchi and I had tortellini oh by the way the waitress said our meal came with a salad which she never brought out so now she leaves we now have a new server I tell him my complaints cause the other server didn't care he apologized and comped us desert can't get to upset with that desert was actually pretty good hence the 1 star but all in all I'll stick to my home cooking oh and to drive my point home the table next to us who had a different server I actually heard it was a table of 6 guys I heard 2 of them say there food was cold one had lasagna not sure what the other had but they didn't look to pleased either and my last point when the bill came gratuity was included my waitress definitely did not deserve a tip will not be going back enter at your own risk

What a happy accident! I live in Indian Harbour Beach but work in Miami, so do a fair amount of eating in restaurants. I left my hotel planning to drive in both directions until I found something different. I saw the sign for a latin diner and pulled it - then I saw what was next door. I took a chance and am I ever glad I did! I had the black stew risotto (oh, man....delicious!), marsala tiramisu and house malbec. The only thing that I would say wasn't up to the rest of the meal's standards is the caesar salad - it was drenched in dressing. But, all things being equal, it was a fantastic meal. I loved the atmosphere, the service and the food - highly recommend!

I took three of my coworkers for a birthday lunch on the recommendation of my sister-in-law. Wow, what an unexpected surprise! Great food and great service! I ordered the Chicken Piccata - and each bite was perfection. I will definitely go again and tell more of my friends to go as well!

We wanted to have an Italian lunch. We walked in the restaurant and it was very cute so thought it would be a good place. First I had an issue that their chairs are plasic and so are their plates. For being a place that is expensive b/c their lunch specials are 15.00 and up I expected better quality. In addition, when we walked in we were asked if we spoke Spanish, we said yes not knowing why. Automatically we were given Spanish menus which we prefer English, not sure why they would do that. In addition the staff was slow. The food was not bad but not for the price. They automatically put parm. cheese woth out asking if we wamted and never asked if we want more. Sorry to say but I would not recommend this place or go back. There was nothing authentic about it. To bad because the decorations were cute.

Avoid this place. (1 star is the lowest Yelp will allow me to rate.) In summary: It is completely indefensible the amount they charge for their absolute low quality food they try to pass off as authentic. Processed Mozzarella cheese, cheap store brand "American parmesan" (dandruff more like it) thrown on everything, and nuked pasta (over microwaved.) It now makes sense why they dress up the place so much. Hint: To con you.. I ate here for lunch when I worked in the area about 6 years ago. Back then during the work day lunch you would see cooks actually cooking food that was simple yet delicious. I came back to this place on Saturday June 22, 2013. The place is now double the size with artifacts on the walls and a piano area to give it that Italian authentic look. In short, the whole place a façade. They charge 15% gratuity upfront for a reason. Appetizer: Crostini appetizer It was French bread toasted with processed mozzarella cheese (the slices you buy from Winn Dixie) and some pesto sauce on top. This was 5 pieces for 3 USD so I wasn't quite up in arms over it but then again hardly authentic. Entrée I had the ravioli stuffed with pumpkin in their 4 cheese sauce. The ravioli was freshly microwave nuked. The edges of the ravioli were tough and chewy. Felt like biting on to rubber nobs dipped in cheese sauce. All this bathed in dandruff like American parmesan cheese. Service: The server: Either she was very new or not use to serving. I was a waiter for 5 years all throughout college. She was at least pleasant though made all the rookie mistakes. On top of that, she could only do one task at a time (goes to the back for one thing rather than one trip for one or two certain tables needs etc..) Not going to go on much since she may be new. Plates were plastic and the drinks were in plastic clear cups. Like the Dixie red cups only clear. In summary: Maybe it's the "weekend C team" that I had and not their A team but this place was terrible especially considering the 15.50 they charged for each of our plates. Maybe they changed management, who knows. It is completely indefensible that they serve absolute low quality food and try to pass off as authentic. It now makes sense why they dress up the place so much because once you're in and food ordered, you're conned.

Nice little place in Doral. I was there on a Friday night. They had live music... a piano player. I liked the decor and overall ambiance and the food was delicious and priced right too.

I believe they served me someone else's left over Bolognese. Came here when I visited Florida and saw the reviews. Most good but I wish I listened to the 1 star reviews. Figured well maybe they had a bad day. I looked at the menu and wasn't sure what they were so I thought I was safe ordering the Bolognese. I mean how hard can it be to make meat sauce but boy was I wrong. My dish came with basically tasteless sauce and barely any meat and already mixed which I never see it served like that because you always see fresh spaghetti and the sauce on top then you mix it yourself. I called the waiter and I'm not sure if the owner or manager came so I asked if I got the right dish cuz mine looked like plain spaghetti with sauce. He got offended and said "there's meat in there, you're not ordering burger". Jeez.. for $15 a dish of spaghetti and sauce you'll think I'll have at least a better service. If I had known I would have went to 7/11 and get a bottle of ragu and spaghetti which would have been way cheaper and tastier.

The service was pretty bad, the pasta was way under cooked and it was all stuck together, the serving size was good. They served us two pieces of bread for two people !! I don't see myself coming back.

  • Jackie P.

First the pros, I loved the atmosphere in this place. I sat in the back right next to the piano and the wall of books. Though there was no one playing (::Sad face::) it was still nice. The cons, the food was really nothing to write home about. The wait staff was not very knowledgeable about the menu or the dishes being served and our waitress was not very attentive. After asking for the check I had to request it again nearly 10 minutes later. Typically I do not mind sitting around after a meal but when you are on your lunch break that is not the kind of service you want.

  • R S.

Great food, excellent service. If you're in the Doral area near 36 th street, then go to this restaurant. Ingredients are fresh, fresh pasta and they'll make the food to match however you're feeling that day. That is a special talent and they can really deliver.

Saw this place while I was getting gas. I thought about it for as long as it takes to fill the tank. One of the best Italian Restaurants I have eaten at. I had the brazed short ribs with pasta with black stew sauce (recommended by our waiter). They say they cook the ribs overnight I am thinking longer. Food was great. The ribs flaked off and the black stew sauce (left over brazing liquid). If I lived any place in the Miami / Doral area this would be my top choice for places to eat. Not allot of choice I over heard some guest say, true enough but what this family does with the food that you get is enough. They keep the menu small but do everything great. the way it should be. Thanks again for a great meal cooked with love. Jon

What a little gem!! Visited Mozzarella based on Yelp reviews and was delighted! The restaurant ambiance is lovely, the staff phenomenal. You feel like you are in an Italian family home (and in some respects, you are, since this is a family-run business.) Awesome food - the short rib lasagna is unique and extremely tasty. All pasta is homemade. Wine selection is a perfect complement to the menu. Special thanks to the staff for warmly welcoming us in just 10 minutes before closing time, and allowing us to enjoy a leisurely meal with exceptional service. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

Great surprise! Italian at it's best. Not familiar with Doral or Miami but after driving through crazy traffic we stopped at hotel determined to stay out of the car. We decided to walk to dinner. The food we found was homemade and delicious! The service was friendly. Would love to have this restaurant where we live.

Tiny italian restaurant in Doral strip mall. Owners are the nicest people around. Daily specials of entrees, fresh juices, desserts and soups. Everything is fresh and you can taste it. Go with time as you might be there for 90 minutes. Recommendations: -All the entree specials -Chocolate Tiramisu(homeade) -Lasagna -Watermelon Juice Parking can get ugly during lunchtime, but you manage to find a spot eventually. For those that work in Doral, excellent place to get take out on your way home from work. If you have a party coming up, call them ahead of time and they'll make you an entire homeade tiramisu. You'll be a friggin hero. Be advised, the portions are smaller than what most of us are used to, but that might be a good thing.

I was the last one in for the evening, and yet I was still I greeted with enthusiasm and warmth. The waiter turned out to be the son of the owners, and was very helpful in helping me navigate the menu. Most importantly, the family was from Rome, which helped to explain why the food was so authentic. I chose the Caesar salad, which had an excellent creamy dressing. The linguini had a fresh sauce with marinara and black and green olives and was delightful. I also had a side of meatballs that were traditionally made. Finally the house Chianti was both delicious and inexpensive (at $5 a glass). Altogether, and excellent choice for a memorable meal.

Found this place on a bit of a whim. First impression, beautiful hole in the wall Italian restaurant with great decor and a quaint, cozy atmosphere with a rustic bookshelf lining the walls along with soft Italian music in the background. The service was fantastic, the server was extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu, especially the wines, and was very friendly. We chose the Crostinis as an appetizer and they were delicious My girlfriend and I ordered lasagna and ravioli for dinner and both were very good, the ravioli wasn't as fresh as I would have preferred and was a little rubbery. The salads and bread given were fresh and tasty. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars was the ravioli, but I give them a pass considering my girlfriend and I didn't realize we had come in 45 minutes after closing time. They still served us with a smile and everything was great. We didn't realize our mistake until our way out, which might have explained the slightly underwhelming ravioli. Overall, a fantastic restaurant, and would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone in the Doral area.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
